Deep in my mind Even my inner critic is still a mystic You're unrefined Raw and uncut like the prisms Bending time to time
Mirrors break They multiply Fuck what they say These feelings don't subside Obsessions fade Over time But what remains Love is whatever we make it tonight
Did they mention the pride before the fall? 'Cause I would risk it all for you What they say 'bout the writings on the wall? No clue, baby, I adore you

Some researchers familiar with the geladas claim they exhibit the most sophisticated communication behaviour of any non-human primate, employing gestures and a range of different vocalisations strung together into sequences communicating reassurance, appeasement, solicitation, aggression and defence.

†Theropithecus oswaldi
Art credit: Roman Uchytel
This giant relative of the modern gelada was a remarkably large monkey, possibly weighing some 159 pounds (72kg). It was likely a ground-dwelling grass-eater like its living cousin, with fossils found in the south, north, and east of Africa, and even in southern Spain. It co-existed with our ancient ancestor species.

Geladas (Theropithecus gelada) painted by Louis Agassiz Fuertes (American, 1874-1927) in 1926-7 and reproduced as offset lithographs in Album of Abyssinian Birds and Mammals, 1930 by the Field Museum (who also hold the original watercolors in their library collection).
Note - Referred to as "Gelada Baboon" in the book, but recent phylogenetic studies place them in a separate clade from other baboons, so simply "Gelada" is preferred...they are also called the "Bleeding-heart Monkey" because of the red skin patch on the chest.
