The last time I felt this in tune with my actual species I was riding Galactica.
Besties, this feels so good you don't even know.

I realised I can use Warhammer technical paints to paint my nails.

I know you hate mammal bias. So do I.
But I have a special interest in rabbits.
Could you give me the true classification details (like you did with the "birds are aves" ask) for European rabbit?
Or show me where to look?
Once again, I wouldn't ask, it's just rabbits are my world.
Thanks
Also I used to keep and breed budgies, had two Fischer's lovebirds too (separately as not a pair). Parrots are great!!!!
Hey, mammal bias just means focusing on or highlighting mammals disproportionately - acting like they're all of life, the majority of life, or the most important life forms, etc. Enjoying mammals is a totally normal and expected thing to do, and is totally fine. I personally love cetaceans, marsupials, and bats! A lot! (never going to get over the layers of irony in the Flying Poll Fiasco)
Anyways, here you go!
Biota/Earth-Based Life
Archaeans
Proteoarchaeota
Asgardians
Eukaryomorphans
Eukaryota (note: Proteobacteria were added to an Archaean to form mitochondria and modern day Eukaryotes)
Amorphea
Obazoa
Opisthokonts
Holozoa
Filozoa
Choanozoa
Metazoa (Animals)
Bilateria (all bilateran animals)
a huge mess at the base of animals that we aren't sure of bc apparently deuterostomy isn't monophyletic whoops
Chordata (Chordates)
Olfactores
Vertebrata (Vertebrates)
Gnathostomata (Jawed Vertebrates)
Eugnathostomata
Osteichthyes (Bony Vertebrates)
Sarcopterygii (Lobe-Finned Fish)
Rhipidistia
Tetrapodomorpha
Eotetrapodiformes
Elpistostegalia
Stegocephalia
Tetrapoda (Tetrapods)
Reptiliomorpha
Amniota (animals that lay amniotic eggs or evolved from those that did)
Synapsida (pan-mammalia)
Eupelycosauria
Sphenacodontia
Pantherapsida
Sphenacodontoidea
Therapsida
Theriodontia
Eutheriodontia
Cynodontia
Epicynodontia
Eucynodontia
Probainognathia
Prozostrodontia
Mammaliamorpha
Mammaliaformes
Crown-Mammalia
Theriimorpha
Theriiformes
Trechnotheria
Cladotheria
Prototribosphenida
Zatheria
Tribosphenida
Theria
Eutheria
Placentalia
Boreoeutheria
Euarchontoglires
Gliriformes
Glires
Duplicidentata
Lagomorpha
Leporidae
Oryctolagus
Oryctolagus cuniculus
Because we're going all the way down to a species, it's a bit longer than the list for all birds!
Fun fact, the list for humans is the same through and including Euarchontoglires!

I feel sorry for marsupials; the placental mammals like us get to be Eutheria (good beasts), while they’re apparently stuck being Metatheria (mid beasts).

“euthereal” (a combination of the words “ethereal” and “euphoria”)
a short piece about a soul incarnating for the first time, and their soul mentor/spirit guide teaching them one final message before they spend the next few years learning what it’s like to be human, and learning for themselves.
“you may go now. you know everything you need to know. you must lead your own life now,”
they stroked their finger through my thick, frizzy hair, and looked at me with their eyes that mirrored century-old tree trunks that had stories to tell but no one to share them with. their hair had tints of grey sprouting out the roots that clearly weren’t there when i first met them.
“and one more thing,”
they paused.
“life is ephemeral. love is eternal. make a wrong a right when you can, and forgive some but not all. don’t let your flesh become your enemy nor prison, but, rather treat it as a learning experience, and a strict mentor. because there are some things i cannot teach you. it might be a while until you see me again, but, know i’ll always be with you in spirit and in soul,”
without another word, they began to step away from the comfort of the forest clearing, into what was supposedly the eutheria. and with every step they took, the woodland around me began to distort and fall, as if everything that just happened was all a long play. or a final rehearsal. then, as the background around me began to crash, and a room with bright lights, and a woman holding me began to gradient in, i realised that now it was time for the real performance.

For the record, this really isn't too hard because they give you information on the taxonomic groups!! You don't have to know what "afrotheria" or "eutheria" are to play, because it will tell you! There's also a plant version :)

guys i just found out about this site that does a daily guessing game, it’s phylogenetic wordle- so fun!!!

CONTAGION by ERIN BOWMAN
After receiving a distress call from a drill team on a distant planet, a skeleton crew is sent into deep space to perform a standard search-and-rescue mission. When they arrive, they find the planet littered with the remains of the project—including its members’ dead bodies. As they try to piece together what could have possibly decimated an entire project, they discover that some things are best left buried—and some monsters are only too ready to awaken.
RATING :: 4.75 / 5
Review under the cut! 🚨 Beware SPOILERS! 🚨
Please remember that these are only my opinions. Read the book yourself - your mileage may vary. 💜
🚨 TRIGGER WARNINGS - violence, murder, traumatic events, graphic descriptions of medical procedures🚨
So, anyone who follows this blog knows that I love zombies. I watched Slither when I was 14, and I've been hooked ever since. It is finally time - I'm reviewing a zombie book. And a sci-fi one at that! I've mentioned previously that I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan, but this one dragged me in and kept me locked down until I finished it.
Confession time - I've read this book five or six times. The first time, I was 27, wandering my local library for the first time in years. I was nervous as hell - would they judge me for hanging around the otherwise-empty YA section despite being an obvious adult? I wasn't ready to pick up one of the hefty novels in the grown-up section - I was getting back into reading for the first time in a few years, and I wanted something light and quick to start with. Then I found this book. The cover drew me in - the summary got me excited - I checked it out and never looked back.
All right, enough rambling. Review time!
Althea "Thea" Sadik (17) is an orphan who was never meant to amount to anything - yet here she is, intern to the prestigious Dr. Lisbeth Tarlow of Hevetz Industries, working on an arctic planet and padding her resume with experience any university would salivate over. A sudden severe storm approaches, forcing them to evacuate onto the Odyssey, a small transit ship, with a ragtag crew of surprisingly young people. Even Captain Dylan Lowe isn't much over twenty. Dylan announces that they won't be returning to their home planet of Eutheria - they are being sent to investigate a distress call at the Black Quarry Mining Site on the distant planet of Achlys.
It takes them over two months to arrive, which passes quickly as they all travel in cryosleep. When they arrive, Achlys is cold, dark, and silent. They try to hail the Celestial Envoy, the large mining ship and home to Black Quarry's miners and scientists, and receive radio silence in return. Despite Dylan being informed through interstellar comms that a military ship will be arriving in twenty-six hours and they are to sit tight and wait, she orders her crew to make way to the Celestial Envoy. Her father is the captain of the Black Quarry Mining Operation, so she has a vested interest in finding out what's going on.
The crew protests at first, wanting to remain on the ship and wait for the UBS Paramount and let the military take over from here, but after a few well-placed threats from Dylan, they reluctantly gear up and follow her to the ship. It is empty - unpowered - and full of corpses. From the very first body they find, they discover that the miners didn't die of natural causes. Every single one of them was murdered. They even find someone on the bridge, which they must brute-force their way into, and he has left behind not only a gun (violating Hevetz's strict 'no lethal weapons' policy) and a cryptic note written in his own blood:
It got in us and most are dead. Decklan flew for help. Don't trust the kid.
The pacing of this book starts off slow - you spend a few chapters getting to know the crew and their various quirks.
Nova, the young pilot who was booted from the aero force due to a degenerative eye disease that disqualified her from service, despite her getting it cured.
Sullivan, her cousin, a young father and mechanic, who is pretty much the level-headed straight man.
Dylan, who only got her prestigious title at Hevetz due to her father's nepotism.
Toby, supporter of the Trio independence campaigns, on-site tech admin, and cynical jerk.
Cleaver, hungry hungry man and security officer
Thea, shy orphan and studious intern who isn't fond of conflict
Dr. Lisbeth Tarlow, microbiologist and victim of a degenerative tremor
It stays slow for a while too, as we first explore the Celestial Envoy and the drilling site. Honestly, I think the early slow pacing serves the story well. It builds tension easily and allows us to get to know the characters in a more natural environment. It doesn't stay slow - when the action starts, it starts hard and fast and does not stop until the end of the book. I appreciated the slow start once the action began. It had given me a chance to explore the world and the characters without the threat of death breathing down their necks.
Now, back to characters. Each character is given a chance to show off their strengths - and their weaknesses. The only character we don't really get to know is Cleaver, who is only in a handful of scenes, and that is a darn shame because if he was developed as well as the rest of the cast, he could have had a chance to really shine here. And my favorite part? Almost every character has secrets of their own, secrets that most of them would kill to keep, and we get to discover all of these secrets one after the other.
Romance - it is mentioned between two characters, but it isn't even a side plot. It merely adds tension between them as they're forced to put aside their mutual attraction to focus on the task at hand - and disagree on important decisions. As the story carries on, the rift between them widens until it seems impossible to repair, but the story ends with them on a bittersweet note. Honestly? I'm glad the romance wasn't made into a big deal. Romance has its place, and surviving a deadly threat on a dangerous planet is not that place.
There are a lot of scenes to find uncomfortable in this book. There are graphic descriptions of emergency medical procedures. Violent attacks. Bloody, gory symptoms. Dangerous weather that is not survivable without a protective suit and helmet. If you're not comfortable with gritty violence and graphic descriptions of bodies doing things they should not survive - and let's face it, this is a zombie book so it has a lot of those - this book is not for you.
All in all, I'm so glad I picked up this book despite not being a huge sci-fi fan. Dr. Tarlow and Thea explain the relevant science in a way that is easy to understand for a layperson like myself. It isn't hard to follow what's going on, and it's so easy to keep reading. Don't worry if you're an adult - everything is handled with surprising maturity for a YA novel. If you like zombie books, you'll love Contagion just as much as I did.
Thanks for reading my book review! Remember, this review is just my opinion. I (almost) always recommend you read the book yourself and see if you like it!

What is the difference between a dog and a canine? Do you know?
The difference between dogs and dogs is that dogs belong to the Canidae family, and dogs are often also called dogs. Dogs are also the most popular breed of pets kept by humans. Dogs (Latin Canislupusfamiliaris) belong to the phylum Chordata, subphylum Vertebrates, class Mammalia, subclass Eutheria, order Carnivora, suborder Schizopoda, and canidae. Also known as “dog” in Chinese, dogs are…

Yeah, invasive species are a problem. It's really a shame how all those creatures suck ass, and just can't compete with cats, bunnies, rats, pigs and humans, the animals that are Empirically The Best.
*shaking my head and sighing sadly* Eutheria sweep...

Note
It's uncommon OC ask time!!
Let's do 40 for Eutheria, and F for Link!! >:3c ooo and for good measure....31 for Gage!
OOOO THESE ARE GOOD ONES I'M EXCITED
40: How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
Eutheria is incredibly sensitive to and about her flaws. She's headstrong and too proud, all while harboring a secret fear that she, too, will fall to the blight that has spread throughout Yharnam. She generally struggles to work with others, as well, and being aware of that helps push her forward to make a connection with the Vileblood Hunter, Alfred, in the hopes of seeking an end to the endless night.
===
31: Who are they the most glad to have met?
See, for Gage, you'd think the answer would be his partner Dean, but you would be wrong. He's the most glad he met Lyn Ashford (who belongs to @resonantcrimson). Meeting Lyn changed his life in ways he wasn't expecting and through Lyn's love for her brother, Christian, Gage learned that even Hunters can have real, actual families. Sometimes they're blood, sometimes they're not, but family is family.
===
F: What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?
Interestingly enough, this doesn't change much based on which OC I think of! Overall, I feel a lot of joy and excitement when it comes to my OCs, but for some of the most well-developed ones, I feel a strong sense of pride in my writing and my ability to keep going,e ven when it's hard.
I don't often talk about it, but there was a period of 6-7 years where I just didn't create. I didn't draw, do pixel art, or write, and it was one of the saddest parts of my life because there really was just no joy left to me. Coming out of that and seeing the things I've created in the time since is absolutely a point of pride for me, because I think I've made some amazing work that stands on its own, often even if you don't know the source material (in the case of fanworks).
When it comes to what I create, I definitely feel I deserve every ounce of pride that it gives me. I went through a lot to get this far and I'm determined to see what comes next. <3
