📽 TobiView 📽 THE MORTUARY – Jeder Tod hat eine Geschichte ▪️ Einen Horror-/Gruselfilm im episodenhaften Erzählstil konnte man dieses Jahr bereits bei Netflix mit “Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark“ erleben und so muss sich THE MORTUARY, der ebenfalls episodenhaft erzählt wird, diesem Vergleich stellen. ▪️ Dem Vergleich hält THE MORTUARY aber locker stand. In vier nicht mit einander verbundenen Episoden erzählt Regisseur Ryan Spindell Kurzgeschichten aus den unterschiedlichsten Horrorfilm-Genre. So werden Kreaturen-Horror, eine fiese “Infektion“, menschliche Abgründe oder eine Babysitter-Story im Slasher-Gewand thematisiert. Die Länge, das Storytelling, die Ausstattung, die Grundstimmung und auch die Farbgebung unterscheiden sich von Episode zu Episode. Von den Sixties bis zur Neuzeit ist alles vertreten. Zudem steigert sich von Episode zu Episode der Gorefaktor und besonders die beiden letzten Geschichten halten die ein oder andere recht ekelige Szene bereit. Mein Favorit ist die vierte, letzte und meiner Meinung nach stärkste Episode, die ganz klar eine Hommage an das klassische Slasher-Genre á la “Halloween“ darstellt und einen richtig schönen Twist am Ende bereithält. ▪️ Am meisten beeindruckt haben mich aber die Inszenierung, sowie die Ausstattung und atmosphärisch toll eingefangene Passagen zwischen den Einzelepisoden. Bestatter Montgomery Dark, der herrlich gruselig und morbide mit einem leichten komödiantischen Touch von Clancy Brown dargestellt wird, ist mein persönliches Highlight des Films. Das Ende ist erzählerisch hervorragend gelöst – Stichwort: Fortsetzung… ▪️ THE MORTUARY hat mit gut gefallen.
