I want to talk about how much you miss boring stuff like breakfast cereal – seriously why didn’t Branflakes make it here? Or how about that fear you have that one day you may need to have a doctors appointment here? Or that you prefer to wait till you go back home to have your next dentist/optician appointment? Or that you feel like a child whenever you try and speak this new language? I think moving to a new country is a worthwhile experience and can be amazing but in my opinion similarly to mental health and loneliness (especially), it’s taboo to talk about what life is really like once you’ve moved to your chosen destination. Our decision to live off grid was not only a horribly easy one to make, but a quick one. Living in Connecticut was not only a financial burden, but a hindrance on our Second Amendment rights, which we are big proponents of, the constitution. Robert left in February of 2017 to embark on a perspective job offering in Southern Colorado, and accepted the position along with 5 acres of land. I remained in Connecticut, assembled the brood, and buttoned up financial situations. The task of acquiring the proper permits for sewage began shortly after, and within 3 months, the building of our home commenced. 

Six months later, missing my husband and our German Shepherd dog, X, the shell of the house was complete, and the installation of our roof was beginning.

July of 2017 Robert came back to CT to say goodbye to friends and family, we packed up our belongings in our VDC Armory trailer, and I towed said trailer for the first time ever, in my father’s 1977 chevy pick up, named Cooter. 

One faulty gas tank breakdown in New York with a trailer full of guns, a burnt beard, 2 tranny hoses, a 8:55pm stop at Advanced Auto parts in Missouri for a remanned alternator, and 2,040 miles later, we eventually made it to a house with no roof on the first day of monsoon season. HOWEVER, I did get to help the roofer put our roof on the house! It was a long and somewhat hard and nerve wracking journey, but we made it.

~13/10/2019~ Most of today was focused on moving my rabbits back to my flat 🐰🐰💖 So didn't really know what to do with myself this morning - just did a bit of colouring, then went out for a very rainy walk along the seafront 🌊🌧 My mood does seem to be continuing to shift a little, but it does make it harder when it's so miserable outside! When I got back to parentals', it was time for the big move... My bunnies have been living at parentals full time since May 2018 when PoTS was making it difficult for me to care for them myself, my MH was in a really bad place, and I then went into hospital. Since I moved back into my flat in September 2018 when I came out of hospital, the girls have stayed with parentals as I wouldn't have been able to care for them on my own at my flat. They are also pretty old now (5 1/2 - old for outdoor rabbits!), find travelling stressful, so didn't want to move them again unless I was sure it was going to be a permanent move. Now I have my PAs I am going to have the help I need to be able to care for them at mine, and parentals need to demolish the summerhouse/shed they were staying in there as it's practically falling down, so seemed the right time to move them as they would be moving anyway. I had to leave a lot of the practical aspects of moving them to parentals, but they have made it and are safely tucked up in their new/old home now! We're so happy to have them back here with us 🐰🐰💖 E came this eve to help with unpacking and various things around the house after the weekend - I was a bit anxious about it, but it went well - seemed like she'd taken on board or worked out what had unsettled us before.
