Miniroth in Dragon Quest (Rough Recap)

Alright, I’m off work and I gathered as many of my translations as possible. A lot of these were just put through screenshot/google translate, so they aren’t perfect, but to avoid blatant misinformation, I double-checked with some of my Japanese mutuals on Twitter to see if my guesses were right and they helped out 🙏

Young Sephiroth arrives in the world of Orchestrra, which is full of monsters. Here was the basic summary translated.

Long story short, the other humans the second group of monsters and the human player (Master) eventually meet are Cloud and Co, who have their own quest to escape.

But Miniroth becomes the center of the story and I recapped the highlights of his bond with Monan, the cute pink monster, in these posts specifically.

As they gathered info, Monan told Sephiroth about her world and he listened eagerly, but he had some points where he was too mission-focused and poor with his communication. He apologized for this immensely after an incident where a monster caught him off guard and Monan rushed to protect him the attack and she got hurt.

It was after this point (shown above), that Sephiroth started to actually befriend Monan. Then he opened up and they had this cute moment where Monan called him a friend and Sephiroth just about melted.

This bonding subplot apparently developed more today and we got this scene where Monan calls Sephiroth kind/compassionate and he is moved by it 🥲

And Monan was just starting to want to ask Sephiroth more about his life after he told her about Team Glenn too!

So yeah, they became buddies over the course of a few days, but then the drama that I was last freaking out about came down to ruin it all.

Shown above, Sephiroth briefly teamed up with Cloud and co, which went well. But then Seph started getting weird premonitions and psychological attacks, which led to an extreme breakdown in the middle of a big battle. The screen turned purple and Miniroth started yelling in pain before vanishing into a portal that zapped him away.

Aaaaaand out came Dragon Quest’s adult Sephiroth!

Now we know where the purple came from :(

I loved the design though! It’s very OG/old Crisis Core!

But yeah, he burnt down the monster village. Can he stop doing this sjfjdjd 💀

Monan essentially just refused to believe it was the same Sephiroth and immediately helped Cloud and the others beat him.

That was the main event, and there were some other battles/conclusions that I couldn’t get all the translations for, but in a nutshell, everyone worked together to save the day. Cloud and co were fine and went home, but this is where the ending really upset me because. MINIROTH. DID. NOT. COME. BACK.

The last time we saw him, he got pulled away in the middle of his agony (which was caused by his older self…which is so fucked up because he basically ruined his own happiness 💀) and Monan worried about him!!!

THEY CLOSED THE WHOLE DAMN EVENT WITH MONAN BEING SAD AND MISSING SMOL SEPH AND THE LAST TIME SHE SAW HIM, HE WAS LITERALLY SCREAMING IN AGONY??? WHICH IS SO UNFAIR?? THEY ALSO DIDN’T GET TO SAY GOODBYE!!

And the screen faded to black with this FUCKING GUT PUNCH AJDHSJSJD

This lovely Japanese player translated it in detail for me. Monan and the others promised to explore more so that they could share interesting stories with Sephiroth if they ever saw him again — the stories that he seemed so delighted to hear. They hoped it would help him forget “painful moments.”

And they also said they’d never forget his awkward but joyful smile when Monan called him a friend, which was this scene ��

Kind of adjacent to a post I saw earlier and I think this is similar to a point the OP was trying to make but moreso I want to make.

I hate how much people can at times act like Azriel's romantic potential starts and ends with Elain. I get having a bad taste in your mouth after the BC since he was using unhealthy coping mechanisms. But Elain is also avoiding the reality of her mating bond, and I've personally always interpreted Azriel and Elain to have the same depth of feelings.

I believe they're both using each other.

I don't really think Azriel hurting Elain in that moment or using his attraction to her as an unhealthy coping mechanism is really that much of an indictment on his character. I also don't believe that Azriel would become a "player" or "scummy" for projecting whatever lingering feelings he has towards Mor and the idea that they would be mates onto Elain now only to end up with Gwyn in the end. Especially if we don't know if Elain is doing the exact same thing he is, consciously or unconsciously. And even if it was that deep or if Elain harbors hurt or resentment, characters hurt their love interests all the time, even when they don't end up together. (Chaol, Nesryn, & Aelin being immediate examples that come to mind).

So I don't really feel like it's fair to center Elain and their BC interaction in how Azriel is characterized around romance as a whole when we have books worth of him pining over Mor from a distance.

We have him volunteering to go dancing with Mor (something we learn he later does enjoy all on his own in the HOFAS BC). We have him acting on the desire to protect her despite laying on the floor bleeding out before Hybern, for example.

And even his platonic interactions show his kindness and overall thoughtfulness, particularly with Feyre, Nesta, and Gwyn. But I want to showcase the moment that, in hindsight, made me love Azriel as much as I do:

“I don’t really know where I fit in anymore,” I admitted, perhaps only because the wind was screeching around us and Rhys had already winnowed ahead to where Cassian’s dark form flew—beyond the wall. “I’ve been alive almost five and a half centuries, and I’m not sure of that, either,” Azriel said.

This line didn't initially stand out to me at first until we get into ACOFAS, where Rhys says this about Azriel:

Azriel studied the map for a long minute. I gave him the silence, knowing that he’d speak only when he was damn well ready. As boys, Cassian and I had devoted hours to pummeling Az, trying to get him to speak. He’d never once yielded.

To me, this categorizes Azriel as a character that is never kind out of obligation or expectation, but simply kind and thoughtful out of the conscious choice to be this way. He chooses when to speak, when to take action.

Does that mean he's without flaw or that people are always going to like him? No, absolutely not. No character is going to be universally loved. And I understand that favoring characters has so much to do with personal preference on top of it, which is never truly going to be "right" or "wrong".

My post isn't really to try and convince people to like Azriel, it's more to acknolwedge that Elain is but one brief aspect to his overall character's romantic (and subsequently healing) arc and shouldn't be the only lense through which we view him. Azriel has been alive for over 500 years, and Elain has only been in his presence for two of those years. Mor has been around for all of them.

I think it's more prescient to view Azriel's romantic potential through more than just the lense of how he interacted with Elain.

I have a question... what's the role of Clark as the pack alpha when it comes to Lex pregnancy? like Lex has his own alpha, so I'm guessing for all things that he could need an alpha, he'll have Dan. So is that how it works? or are certain things for which Lex (or Dan) will need Clark specifically? and like how does it affect to have two omegas pregnant at the same time, if it affects at all?

I love Clark/Lex's dynamic and would love to see them more involved, but I don't know how it works in the universe...

That's a really interesting question! Because yeah, you're talking about Lex's Alpha (full stop, upper case) versus Lex's alpha. How does a Pack Alpha trump a mating bond or courting alpha? Plus, how does that work when Lex and Clark already have a strange and sometimes strained (but sometimes also very intense, in a good way) relationship?

The way I view it, Clark is responsible for Lex, he feels Lex's pack bond a little more intensely than a fellow pack member would. But he's not the knot-headed alpha patriarch who Lex bows down to in all circumstances. He has a certain sway over Lex, but Lex is absolutely able to pluck that pack bond and send reverberations right back at Clark if desired. We saw this in ASOH the first time he deferred to Clark. This reluctant kind of acceptance that they do care about the other and your typical alpha patriarchy stuff doesn't hold power here. But Pack bonds and old-fashioned pack hierarchy -- there's a much more compelling argument to be had there. Lex views himself as an extension of his Pack Alpha and Omega in times of distress; their belief in him is so so important. He can take Clark's anger if it means he still has the Pack bond, if that makes any sense at all.

Where does another alpha wade into that? Well, he does it very carefully. Daniel is a good egg, we've already seen him deferring a LOT to Clark. He's not Pack (yet) but if he was, alphas can coexist in the same pack. I see a lot of folks commenting that they'd butt heads no matter what, but I think that's a very traditional a/b/o trope and not one I want to entrench here. They might have to get used to being around other alphas because they've both been solitary for a while, but they're not fighting just because they're in the same pack. And Daniel absolutely can court and mate Lex, as long as he knows that he's doing it under Bruce and Clark's watchful eye(s). It's kind of like meeting an in-law? Except then you ask that in-law to also formally adopt you. And it's not a parent-child relationship at all.

I think there are definitely things Lex will need from Daniel (proximity, sex, etc support during pregnancy) but there's also things he just can't get from a mate that he needs from his Pack. And Clark plays a large role in that, obviously. Lex might flip out and need to go stubbornly cuddle Bruce in the nest for a night and Clark and Daniel might both get kicked out for a bit. Lex might need Clark to tell him he's doing the right thing and it's okay to be vulnerable with Daniel, etc.

TL;DR: (sorry for rambling) Dan is Lex's alpha, but Clark is his Alpha and therefore one half of his gateway/connection the Pack itself. So Dan needs to be careful wading into this dynamic, but it isn't hostile just because it's two alphas. Not necessarily, in a perfect world.

Just saw a TikTok claiming that Lucien/Elain will end up being like Lyria/Rowan, making Azriel the Aelin in this situation.

Other than being massively insulting to both Elain & Lucien, who stands to gain from it? Rhys? And what would he gain? It’s another part of the Rhys-is-evil-like-Maeve theory which will never happen because SJM LOVES RHYS. I actually can’t with this fandom 😭

I get that some people really love Az but I have to wonder why they think Sarah likes Az more than Lucien?

Lucien who Sarah wrote about in book 1.

Lucien who Sarah then changed his heritage with a very clear path to being a High Lord.

Lucien who Sarah wrote as leaving Spring and joining Feyre in the NC, becoming someone the NC relies on for information, being the person who could command Cassian with a single word and someone who Cassian feels sadness for (not Az) over his situation with Elain.

It's actually pretty hysterical that they think Sarah is going to write Az as getting Lucien's mate, that Az would even DESERVE Lucien's mate over Lucien himself. "Such misogyny, blah blah, girls choice!" Seriously get out of here with that nonsense (not you anon, them). Sarah loves her male characters just as much as the female ones. It was Dorian who she said would accompany her to the theater and Rhys who she said she'd take to a deserted island (not any of the girls). Sarah said Lucien (not Az) has always been one of her favorite characters. She said there was someone special for Lucien (not Elain) at some point in the future and a mate is pretty damn special especially when it's Elain Archeron. She loves Outlander and Jamie Fraser and based Lucien off of him. But sure, her Jamie Fraser is going to lose his mate to AZ???? All because Elain thought she wanted to kiss the guy? 😂😂😂 When said guy couldn't even give her credit for killing the king, didn't think she could handle the darkness of the trove, and didn't bother to ask her how she was after her arguments with Nesta? Why in the hell would Sarah write Az as the one getting the girl over Lucien in this scenario? Az looks like the Walmart version of Tamlin at the moment, at least in terms of Elain and there is little chance Sarah is rewarding him with another guys mate.

As far as the theory, Az is irrelevant to the equation as it relates to Lyria / Rowan / Aelin and Lucien / Elain.

Rowan believed Lyria to be his real mate.

Lucien believed Jesminda was his real mate.

Lyria was murdered.

Jesminda was murdered.

Rowan was shocked to discover Aelin was actually his mate.

Lucien was shocked to discover Elain was actually his mate.

Az is literally just an interloper to all of this, he always was and he still is. He was just the placeholder to create angst with Graysen now being out of the picture, a stepping stone for Elain to go from not wanting any male or mate to starting to come around to the idea of a male (but without any real strings) which takes us to her book where she'll fully accept her mating bond once she fully accepts her faeness. And Sarah is not going to recycle the same storyline, where someone was "manipulating" Lucien's bond the way they were manipulating Rowan's. She might reuse phrases but she doesn't copy exact plots.

That they truly believe Sarah would treat Lucien to the same narrative as she did Lyria, that he'd just be the "fake" mate, proves how little they pay attention to the series as a whole. Lucien is MMC material a thousand times over, Lyria was not given main character energy. He had buildup for his story long before Az ever did. So yeah, I don't know where anyone is getting the idea that Sarah planned on giving Az Lucien's Happily Ever After.

So here's my thing

I think Andor is practically perfect. I think it is one of the best things on television and it NEEDED to be told. People needed this side of star wars. However... Im struggling with the very fact that K2SO was barely in it.

Listen... I love this droid. And I dont think storytelling should necessary be sacrificed just so I can have more of him. HOWEVER, I was PROMISED him back in 2019. I was promised the K2 and Cassian story. We all waited SO PATIENTLY for his return. Especially after learning right before season 1 came out that we wouldn't have him until season 2.

I was expecting bonding. I wanted to see the moment this droid went from something cassian was wary about to someone he trusted with his life. I wanted to see him be K2's biggest defender. I mean K2 LIVES WITH HIM. And we know that didn't just start the moment K2 got reprogrammed... I wanted to see this droid become his best friend. I yearned so badly for all of that, expected all of that. And I didn't get any of it. And it hurts to know that twenty four episodes exist but K2 only takes up space in about a total of two of them.

I loved episode ten. And Kleya has become one of my new favorite star wars characters because of it. But at the same time, when tony gilroy said when they bring in k2, then he's THERE for the rest of the time, I didn't expect an entire episode without him (or cassian for that matter). Again, I LOVE the episode. But it's the way I was really excited (and had to comfort myself) with the idea that at least I was getting three whole episodes of K2. After learning his solo story was cut. It was only going to be three eps, BUT AT LEAST it was three... it was going to be like another film with him. Only it wasn't. We didn't even get three.

I wanted stories of K2 infiltrating an imperial base and reporting back to cassian. I wanted a story where he saves Cassians life. I wanted the rebellion to be wary of K2 still as Cassian rejected any change to K2 programming/refused to let them power him down or restrict K2 in anyway.

And we didn't get that. Even the episodes he was in, there were long gaps where he wasnt. And you felt that absence. And we can argue the linguistics of storytelling with K2 all day long but the truth is there are WAYS to get around that that STILL include him.

I'm just extremely frustrated. Because on one hand, I love Andor and wouldn't change a single thing about it and on the other... I would have done anything to see that story told. To see their friendship evolved. And maybe it's just me. And I know there's no easy answer to this, I'm not expecting one. But the idea that this is what I have of my favorite droid ever and this is probably ALL ill get after waiting SO LONG for his return... i dont know, it just hurts.

two time headcanons before i go to bed

two time went off the grid after the sacrifice. no one could find them. the cult never found them and thought they had betrayed the spawn. truth is, two time was in azures cabin the whole time. slowly dying in their own misery and grief for what theyd done to him

two time eventually left the cult. it was somewhere after escaping the forsaken realm (if they ever did) that they left. elliot convinced them to as it only made their already terrible mental health worse.

after leaving the cult, two time never knew what to do, their day was dedicated to the spawn. they had prayer times, interaction times with the priests in the cults, and other things. now that they left they had nothing to do but try and survive (with the help of elliot)

azure did escape the forsaken realm. though was stuck in the new body he had, but two time and him got to finally reconcile, their bond would never be the same but it was better then longing for their past lover

kitty two time headcanons now! (yes theres a difference)

two time lands on their feet, but it still hurts and they have broken their ankles or just legs in general from doing so. the survivors have to keep a ladder that can reach to the beams on the ceiling so two time doesnt jump off and break their ankles (again)

two times hair is super fluffy and soft. they are constantly making sure its clean (yes im aware this clashes with another headcanon i have but i can do that its my blog :3)

they dont like water as much as any other cat. the survivors invested in a spray bottle for this reason (they did that with regular two time as well but its KITTY TWO TIME RN)

anyways that is all for today. im probably going to make a schedule for when i post because i post very erratically, but it should be something like every 2 days or so. well im going to now sleep for 20 hours its been about 33 hours since i slept.

On Andor S2

I wanted so badly to love it (and to be fair I still haven't seen the final three episodes), and a lot of it i did love, the creep of facisim, Syril's arc, the wider rebellion stuff, Mon Mothma in particular waas just *chef's kiss*.

What I really did not like is Bix and Cassian's arc (and tbh the way their characters were written in general).

So, since i literally cannot get this out of my head right now, here's how i would have done it. Spoilers ahead.

Ok, so we start after ep 6, but with a time skip of a few weeks instead of a whole year.

Gorst is dead, and that helps, it helps a lot, enough to get Bix off the drops, but it doesn't fix her. She still gets nightmares, even settled and relatively stable on Yavin.

She works as a mechanic at the rebel base, and this is explicitly shown. Bix is brave and committed, but she recognises that she's a much better mechanic than she is a soldier, and at the end of the day what she wants is to help the rebellion any way she can. It's also not irrelevant that she knows her presence can be a big distraction to Cassian, and his overprotectiveness is a side of him neither of them likes.

As for Cassian, she knows what he does, she's seen it and she knows the necessity of it, but as time goes on it gets harder and harder to see him come home with that haunted look in his eyes and realise he's had to do something horrific that he can't ever talk about. Also she obviously worries about him doing such dangerous work, and it's particularly hard because no one can tell her any specifics, but since she's done so many missions with him she knows how bad it can get.

A brief conversation ensues between Bix and Vel (possibly over late night drinks, possibly including some very subtle sexual tension) about how shitty it is, even as an equally committed member of the rebellion, knowing your partner is off killing or getting killed.

"You'd think it'd be easier if you're with them, if you know what's going on-"

"But it's harder."

"Yeah. It's harder."

*both drink*

Cut to Cassian rescuing Wilmon from Saw Gerrera and only just getting out without shots being fired. Wilmon is grateful, but has bonded with a lot of Saw's people, and is unsettled that Cass might have hurt or killed other rebels just to get him out.

"I didn't need rescuing. They weren't hurting me, Cass,"

"They weren't letting you go either," he scoffs, piloting the ship and not meeting Wil's eyes, "Anyway the rebellion needs you."

"I can take care of myself, and we're all on the same side. Saw's people are fighting the same empire we are."

"I wish it was that simple."

"You sound like Luthen."

Cass stares, but now Wilmon won't look at him. Neither one says anything more.

Time passes, and Cassian and Bix start to drift apart. He goes on missions, becoming more withdrawn in the short time between them, and she keeps building and fixing comms equipment, making friends and becoming a fixture on Yavin. She's respected, she's useful in her own right, but it all seems to fade into the background when Cass returns and it's so tragically obvious how not-ok he is, but there's nothing she can do and they both know it.

They have an argument about something small and stupid, and they make up, but it's obvious nothing is really resolved.

Later Bix runs into Vel, who is just about to go on a smuggling run, her first real mission since Cinta died, she says she could really use a decent mechanic, someone she trusts. So Bix goes back, tells Cass she has a mission and she needs a bit of space anyway, so she'll see him in a week. You can see him almost protest that it's too dangerous, the impulse to protect her almost taking over, but he bites his tongue and nods. At least he trusts Vel more than most.

When Bix gets back to Yavin she finds out Cass has already been sent on another mission, not knowing when he'll be back, she heads back out with Vel. They miss each other a few more times, passing like ships in the night. They catch each other for a few hours at one point, and it's nice, it's comforting, but we get the strong sense from both of them that it's not the same.

At this point we take a break from the Bix/Cass thing and the political commentary and take a whole episode to do the K2 horror movie plot that they said they decided to cut. Cass is sent to retrieve a crippled Imperial freighter before they do and bring it back to Yavin. There are a few survivors but nowhere near enough to repair and fly this huge ship or put up any sort of resistance to Cass and his rebel team. They repair the ship and set off into deep space to stay off the radar. Little do they know there is a Kx droid left in the hold. Hunting and terror and death ensue (and at some point there's a trapped lothcat which miraculously survives as a reference to Aliens) until Cass and like one or two others survive and manage to kill it. They throw the pieces in the brig and haul the freighter back to Yavin.

When Cass gets back, he and Bix have a talk. It's sad and emotional and exhausting, but we get the impression that it's not exactly a shock to either one. They will always love each other, they will always be there for each other, but the relationship as it is just doesn't fit anymore.

Bix moves out to be a ships mechanic with Vel. She enjoys it more than she expected and they work well together. She and Cass share a look of melancholy mutual respect before she disappears into the ship.

AND NOW. We have Ghorman.

Wilmon turns up and tells him about Dedra being there, and Cassian bottles up his big sad brown breakup eyes and goes off to be an assassin.

And that's how I would do it.

I usually don’t reblog posts that I disagree with, but since the poster doesn’t seem to be irrationally hateful of Rhysand and is instead just expressing their honest opinion, I thought I’d give my thoughts on this, too.

First off, I do think that it was intense of Rhys to literally forbid Azriel to do anything but I do think that considering how bad of a headspace he was in at the time and the ptsd from everything that had recently happened…I can understand that he got scared of things further imploding on themselves. Especially seeing as Rhysand can’t really tell what Azriel is thinking and he still worries that he has feelings for Mor—he even brings her up in that conversation and I don’t blame him, because five hundred years of loving one person is a long time—which could mean that persuing Elain could turn out to be one big mistake that hurt everyone.

Furthermore, the reason I don’t find this hypocritical of Rhys is because this is very different from his own situation. Feyre had not been Tamlin’s mate, her leaving him for Rhys didn’t have the prohibited nature of a rejected mating bond and the blood duel wouldn’t be invoked like in this case where they’re facing the Autumn Court, where it is a tradition. Additionally, Rhysand hadn’t made a decision to bring Feyre to the Night Court until he realized how badly she was feeling and even then, he had sent Mor to get her because if he had gone himself it would have given Tamlin the right to take Feyre back. Moreover, Rhysand was sure about Feyre—he was planning to give her a ring, he immediately made her High Lady, he didn’t have any connections with other women—Rhys didn’t think Azriel is in the same place as where he was at the time.

I fully believe that once he finds out how Azriel and Elain feel for each other, he will definitely be on their side—after all, Rhysand has always wanted his family to be happy. It’s what he has worked for, this whole time.

That being said, I do think that the forbidden love trope setup could have only been done using Rhysand—since Feyre supports Elriel and wouldn’t have forbade it and they’re the only authority that Azriel would consider. Elain was already willing to choose Az, she didn’t hesitate, I don’t think she has the same religious view on mating bonds since she was raised as a human. Rhys had to act that way to show us just how much is at stake if Azriel and Elain fall in love—why it’s a worthy conflict for their book. It’s what SJM needed to do to propell the story into the direction she wanted it to go.

I do have to agree that Feyre is gonna kick his ass for trying to stop Elriel from happening, though. Poetic justice indeed lol.

Listen, I’m not in the camp of Rhysand is evil, but I AM in the camp of Rhys is a hypocrite.

Something that’s not talked about enough is the straight poetic justice that would result from Elain rejecting the mating bond and choosing Azriel.

Rhys forbade Azriel from pursuing Elain because of potential political ramifications, either knowingly or unknowingly stripping Elain of her freedom to choose.

But let us not forget that he and his own mate did this! Feyre exercised her freedom to leave Tamlin and be with Rhys. Where was his apprehension then? The rules do not apply to him.

My head canon is Feyre finds out Rhys forbade Azriel from pursuing Elain and just scolds that absolute crap out of him. Poetic justice.

Also now that they've finally kissed at least the rest of fandom will catch up that they've been together the whole time. We told y'all from day one, that's a qpr. They weren't oblivious. Imogen knew Laudna had other priorities - when it came to romance, not to her - and knew exactly what Laudna was okay with. And she waited until she couldn't know, until things had changed and she had to take Laudna at her word instead, and that's what made it matter and I'm just saying. We've been here the whole time having to watch people beg every week for something to become canon that was there from the start. Watched beauj*s start to play out all over again as people swore up and down these two "lesbians" (that's a whole other post) were madly in love and hadn't realized it. Turns out they knew exactly what they were, like we said. You could've saved a lot of time if you'd realized that a kiss isn't what makes a ship canon. I've had a great 65 episodes of a canon ship away from the mainstream fascination with saying things like "whatever they've got going on," but welcome aboard.
