Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah Al-Kahf
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Revealed in Makkah
Imam Ahmad recorded that Al-Bara' said:
"A man recited Al-Kahf and there was an animal in the house which began acting in a nervous manner. He looked, and saw a fog or cloud overhead. He mentioned this to the Prophet, who said:
Keep on reciting so and so, for this is the tranquility which descends when one reads Qur'an or because of reading Qur'an;
This was also recorded in the Two Sahihs.
This man who recited it was Usayd bin Al-Hudayr, as we have previously mentioned in our Tafsir of Surah Al- Baqarah.
What has been mentioned about the Virtues of this Surah and the first and last ten Ayat, which provide protection from the Dajjal
Imam Ahmad recorded from Abu Ad-Darda' that the Prophet said:
Whoever memorizes ten Ayat from the beginning of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal.
This was also recorded by Muslim, Abu Dawud, An-Nasa'i and At-Tirmidhi.
According to the version recorded by At-Tirmidhi,
Whoever memorizes three Ayat from the beginning of Al-Kahf.
He said, it is "Hasan Sahih.''
In his Mustadrak, Al-Hakim recorded from Abu Sa`id that the
Prophet said:
Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf on Friday, it will illuminate him with light from one Friday to the next.
Then he said:
"This Hadith has a Sahih chain, but they (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.''
Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqi also recorded it in his Sunan from Al-Hakim, then he narrated with his own chain that the Prophet said:
Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf as it was revealed, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.

Lessons from Surah Al-Kahf
1. The Power of Faith and Trust in Allah:
The story of the people of the cave (Ashab al-Kahf) highlights the importance of unwavering faith in Allah. These young believers took refuge in a cave to escape persecution, demonstrating their trust in Allah’s protection. Allah rewarded their faith by preserving them for 309 years, illustrating that true faith and reliance on Allah can lead to divine assistance.
2. The Nature of Worldly Life:
The parable of the rich man and the poor man teaches us about the transient nature of worldly wealth and the importance of gratitude and humility. The rich man’s arrogance and ingratitude led to his downfall, while the poor man’s faith and humility were highlighted as virtues. This story reminds us that material wealth is temporary and that our real success lies in our relationship with Allah.
3. Knowledge and Humility:
The encounter between Prophet Musa (Moses) and Khidr (a wise servant of Allah) underscores the value of seeking knowledge and maintaining humility. Despite Musa’s status as a prophet, he learns from Khidr that divine wisdom can be beyond human understanding. This story encourages us to pursue knowledge while acknowledging that there is always more to learn and that Allah’s wisdom is supreme.
4. The Trials of Life:
Surah Al-Kahf addresses various forms of trials: the trial of faith (the people of the cave), the trial of wealth (the rich man and the poor man), the trial of knowledge (Musa and Khidr), and the trial of power (Dhul-Qarnayn). Each story teaches us how to navigate these trials with faith, patience, and reliance on Allah. It highlights that life’s challenges are tests from Allah, and our responses to these trials shape our spiritual journey.
5. Protection from Dajjal:
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised Muslims to recite the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf as a protection from the trials of Dajjal (the Antichrist). This emphasizes the surah’s importance in safeguarding one’s faith and seeking refuge in Allah from major trials and tribulations.
6. The Importance of Divine Guidance:
Throughout the surah, we see that divine guidance is crucial for success. The people of the cave were guided to safety, Musa was guided to knowledge, and Dhul-Qarnayn was guided to justly use his power. This teaches us to constantly seek Allah’s guidance in all aspects of our lives.

Qur'anic Chapter Khaf And Friday
"Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on Friday, Allah will bestow upon him light between those two Fridays. (al-Bayhaqi)
In another narration, the Prophet said, “Whoever reads Surat al-Kahf as it was revealed, there will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.(al-Sunan al-Kubra)
Surat Al-Kahf was revealed in Makkah. Many Ahadeeth confirm the virtues of this Surah. As we are recommended to read Surah khaf on Friday. It is said that it will protect and save us from the fitnah of dajjal (anti Christ), trials and afflictions. The first and the last ten Ayahs provide protection from Dajjal. It is pivotal to understand that Surat Al-Kahf is not just a magical spell that will serve as a shield against the Antichrist. Rather, the comprehension of its underlying meaning and application of the suggested measures will save us from Dajjal.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh stated: “Whoever memorizes ten Ayahs from the beginning of Surat Al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal.” (Muslim, Abu Dawood, An-Nasai and At-Tirmidhi)
This Surah was revealed in answer to the questions which was posed by the pagans of Mecca to test prophet pbuh. As Makkan phase can be divided into four stages, that was the third period. It was the era of religious persecution of believers. Many times to the point of being ill- treated and oppressed due to their faith. Allah, however, not only gave them a complete answer to their questions but also drew their attention by those stories to take heed from it. There was a conflict going on at that time in Makkah between believers and disbelievers. As muslims were least in number. That's why they were intentionally practising patience in such distressing situations to achieve their goal. They very well knew that if they retaliate, they would be easily overpowered. So couldn't risk their lives, because they were the carriers of Islam—they had to take the religion forward.
In Surah khaf, there are four stories which we get the insught from these stories to face the trials and afflictions.
1. Trial of Faith – Young People of the Cave/ Ashabu Al-Kahf (Verses 9 – 26)
2. Trial of Wealth – The story of the Rich and the Poor (Verses 32 – 44)
3. Trial of Knowledge – Moses and Al-Khidr (Verses 60–82)
4. Trial of Power –Dhul-Qar-nayn with Yajuj Majuj (Verses 83–98)
Let's explore each along with lessons we get from each story.
1."The people of the cave" : It’s the story of young men who lived in a disbelieving town, so they decided to migrate to save their imaan and took refuge in the cave. Allah mentions the word “fityah” (plural of fata)- young boys to draw the attention that they were young people who had firm faith in Allah. But they did not follow the people blindly but thought rationally. In every society and culture there are trenda and precedents presents and people tend to follow them unknowingly. And people don't dare to follow against them. So here thses young men though powerless and weak still troed to preserved their faith.
▪︎ Lesson of this story is the 'Trial of Faith'
2. "The owner of two gardens" : A story of a man whom Allah blessed with two beautiful gardens, but the man forgot to thank the One who blessed him with everything and he even dared to doubt Allah regarding the afterlife. So his garden was destroyed – he regretted it, but was too late and his regret did not benefit him.
▪︎ Lesson of this story: 'Trial of wealth'
3. "Musa pbuh and Khidr pbuh" : When Musa pbuh was asked “Who is the most knowledgeable of the people of Earth?” Musa pbuh said that it was him as he assumed he was the only prophet on Earth at the time. But Allah revealed to him that there’s someone who knows more than him about certain things. Musa pbuh traveled looking for him and learned how divine wisdom can sometimes be hidden in matters which we perceive as bad.
▪︎ And Lesson of this story: 'Trial of knowledge'
And now to the FINAL one, "Global Phenomena"
4. "Dhul-Qarnayne" : Allah mentions the story of a great king who was given knowledge and power travelling the world helping people and spreading all that’s good. He was able to overcome the problem of Gog and Magog (Yajooj-Majooj) by building a massive dam with the help of people whom he could not even understand.
▪︎ Lesson of this story: 'Trial of power'
Allah says to us four/4 kind of stories relating 4 kind of trials that we face daily in our day to day lives.
But, What is the relation between 'Surah Kahf' and 'Dajjal' ?
Dajjal will appear before the day of judgement with 4 trials:
A▪︎He will ask people to worship him and not Allah: "Trial of faith"
B▪︎He will be given powers to start/stop rain and tempt people with his wealth: "Trial of wealth"
C▪︎He will tempt people with "knowledge” and news he gives them: "Trial of knowledge"
D▪︎He will control huge parts of the Earth: "Trial of power"
Those people who sticks strong to Allah in every single aspect of their life, those people who don't fall for the illusion, delusion, corruption and brainwashing of this world. The Dajjal has already set his foot, and entered through the midern and cultural engineering of the 20th century. It's almost ready to take its throne. People are infested in this world from many direction.
Moreover Almighty Allah has given the SOLUTION for these Trials and Test.
1.Good companionship to build a strong Faith : To protect our faith we need to be surrounded with good people. Besides this, the believers have been taught that even if they are persecuted by a cruel society, he should not bow down before falsehood but emigrate from the place all alone, if situations demand, with trust in God. Do not blindly follow trends or customs of the society.
2. To adopt Humility as we own nothing in this world. Pride and Arrogance will come back to bite. What we need to remember is that everything we have is a mercy and a gift from Allah. We may put in hard work, but if Allah doesn’t put blessing in anything, nothing succeeds. This is why we should be thankful for what Allah has given us. In fact the Surah itself begins by saying “Alhamdulillah”.
3. Be humble and sincere in learning, Knowing the truth of this world. You should have full faith in the wisdom of what is happening in the Divine Factory in accordance with the will of Allah. The Qadar of Allah works in ways that we do not understand. When Allah takes something away from us, we should trust inHis Divine Wisdom. As it was not clear to a Prophet, allow alone people like us. However, Allah clearly wants good for us, and it is important that we trust the One who has given us everything. Allah is sole Caretaker (الرقیب/Ar-Rakib).
4. In the story of Dhul-Qarnayne,
When the people asked Dhul-Qarnayn to help them, he did not just go and help them. Rather he taught them in building and helped them himself as well. We should benefit people. Regardless of the fact that he was being victorious and constantly winning new ground for his empire, he never forgot Allah, Kept going with good deeds. That is something we should remember. In our endeavor to earn sustenance, we should never forget Allah. During our successes, we should remember Allah.
May Allah guide us and protect us from this fitnah. Ameen

Surah Kahf first 10 verses benefits and lessons, It was named surah kahf for the divine miracle that was in the story of the Companions of the Cave, and it is one of the Al-Mien Surahs, that is, one of the Surahs whose number of verses exceeds a hundred or nearly a hundred, and it follows these seven long Suras.
As mentioned in the merits of the first ten ayats of surah kahf, there are specific hadiths, including what came from Abu Al-Darda’, may Allah be pleased with him. That the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
what is surah al kahf about?
Surah al kahf mentioned four stories: the people of the cave, the owner of the two gardens, Moses, peace be upon him, Al-Khidr, and Dhul-Qarnayn, as we can summarize the purposes of this noble surah in the following points:
1- Guiding the servants to praise Allah Almighty for His great grace by sending down the Noble Qur’an without crookedness to warn the polytheists and give good tidings to the believers.
And to clarify the Prophet’s keenness to guide his people, and to entertain him by mentioning these four stories and the many lessons and benefits they contain.
2- Mention the story of the Companions of the Cave and the affliction of the monotheistic servants of Allah and their flight from their religion.
3- Confirmation of resurrection.
4- The commandment to be steadfast in the religion, to adhere to the righteous, and to keep away from everything that preoccupies the matter of the Hereafter.
Such as the adornments of this world, and the Almighty says:
5- A clarification of what Allah has prepared for those who obey him, and what Allah has prepared for those who disobey him.
6- Mention the story of the owners of the two gardens, and set an example for the one who is deceived by the mortal world.
8- Mention the story of Moses, peace be upon him, with al-Khidr, and the great benefits that it contains from the expanse of the knowledge of Allah Almighty and his honor for his guardians, and the statement of morals related to the teacher and the learner.
9- Mention the story of Dhul-Qarnayn and the reasons given for kingship and empowerment for his establishment of Allah judgment on the scales of justice, taking at the hands of the corrupters, and aiding the oppressed.
10- Allah mentioned some of the scenes on the Day of Resurrection and the state of the disobedient groups and their fate in the Hereafter, as well as what Allah promised His faithful servants of gardens of bliss.
11- A statement that there is no end to the knowledge of Allah Almighty, nor to His words, and an explanation of the humanity of Muhammad.
May Allah prayers and peace be upon him, and his honor with revelation. The Almighty said:
when to read surah kahf?
Surah al kahf is one of the surahs that is desirable to read on Friday, as it is desirable to read first 10 verses of surah kahf on friday and surah kahf first 10 verses is a light between the two Fridays, as was reported on the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri - may Allah be pleased with him:
Also, the recitation of surah al kahf is not specified in a time, rather it is at any time of Friday, whether at the beginning, end, or middle of the day, without specifying any place, so it is valid in the mosque, or on the way to it, and other places.
As The day is known in legal terminology and is estimated from dawn to sunset, but the time for reciting surah kahf begins on Friday night, that is, on Thursday evening.
Moreover, reciting Surat Al-Kahf on Friday brings many virtues, so let's know first 10 verses of surah kahf benefits:
first ten ayats of surah kahf is a light for those who read it, and there are many hadiths that indicate that; Including: What was reported on the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri.
May Allah be pleased with him - that the Prophet - may Allah prayers and peace be upon him - said:
It is desirable to read first 10 verses of surah kahf on friday, as the great companion Abdullah bin Omar used to recite it; Because of its great reward, however, most of the hadiths that were mentioned in explaining the virtue of reading it are weak attributions.
But they are taken into account in the virtues of deeds, and they support each other, and therefore reading surah al kahf on Friday is a Sunnah.
surah kahf is a light that illuminates the path of guidance for those who read it, as it stops the Muslim from disobedience and sins, and guides him to the path of good and right.
And it may be a real and tangible light, as it was reported from Abdullah bin Omar - may Allah be pleased with him - that the Prophet - peace be upon him - said:
surah kahf first 10 verses protect from the Dajjal by memorizing the first ten verses of it, as Many hadiths confirm this. Including: What was reported by the authority of Abu al-Darda’.
May Allah be pleased with him - that the Prophet - may Allah prayers and peace be upon him - said:
And what Imam Muslim included in his Sahih with a long hadith concerning the Dajjal:
why do we read surah kahf on friday?
Surah al kahf is read every Friday, and there is no difference between reading it at night or during the day, and whoever reads it has light between the two Fridays.
As was reported from Abu Saeed Al-Khudri on the authority of the Messenger of Allah - may Allah prayers and peace be upon him - that he said:
there are many virtues and wisdom for reading surah kahf, and the following is a detailed explanation of it:
1- Tranquility and light will descend on the Day of Resurrection:
My companion was reciting surah kahf and in his house was an animal; So it began to shake and move, so he made a supplication to his Lord to deliver him from the beast, and then a cloud had covered him.
So he narrated this to the Messenger of Allah, and the Messenger explained to him that the Holy Qur’an is one of the causes of calmness, meaning that the cloud is peace and mercy, and by that he means the angels, so the beast was disturbed to see them.
This is evidence of the virtue of reciting the Qur’an and that it is a reason for the descent of mercy and tranquility and the presence of angels. Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih:
2- The infallibility from the Dajjal:
as his trial is great, and there is no prophet who did not warn his people against him.
It has been said that infallibility is achieved by reading the surah kahf first 10 verses without specifying, and it was said that it is with the first three verses, and it was said that it is achieved by the last ten verses, and it was said with the first ten.
Nevertheless, it is better to memorize the entire surah and read, and if it is difficult, ten verses from the beginning and ten from the end, otherwise it is only the first ten. The Messenger, peace, and blessings be upon him, said:
is listening to surah kahf same as reading it?
The reward for reciting surah kahf on Friday, but is limited only to the one who recites the Surah and is not limited to listening to it only, as it was mentioned regarding the one who recited the Surah on that day.
The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said:
It is also well known that whoever listens to the surah is not considered a reciter of it. Based on this: whoever wants the reward mentioned in the hadiths, should read surah kahf, and he is not satisfied with listening.
But the one who does not read the Qur’an well, then listens to it from someone else, in order to seek the reward mentioned in it,
There is the hope that he will be rewarded as much as the reader, because of his good intentions, and for doing what he is able to.
To Summarize
surah al kahf is the eighteenth surah whose location comes after Surah Al-Isra and before Surat Maryam, and surah kahf is in the middle of its location in the Holy Qur’an.
As it is located between the fifteenth and sixteenth parts, and it is one of the Meccan surahs that was revealed in Mecca, the vineyard.
As many hadiths were also mentioned about the virtue of memorizing the first 10 verses of surah kahf on friday, which we mentioned in detail within the paragraphs of our article.

I really love ur headcanon about Hijabi Mc with the brothers! I really love it cuz there is no one writing about us in any fandom =(
I was thinking would u do the (un)datebale characters with Hijabi Mc if u can ? =3
If u don’t want then u can ignore the ask 🖤
Hello there, angel! I assume you meant the chaotic Hijabi MC headcanon that I wrote, so I hope you enjoyed these xx
she/her pronouns!!
The (Un)Dateable Characters' + Luke’s Reactions to a Hijabi MC That Looks Extremely Pious and Quiet but is Actually a Chaotic Mess
Diavolo
As future king of the Devildom that wishes to strengthen the relations between the three realms, prejudice and discrimination against the human exchange students’ choice of religion is a HUGE no-no
Diavolo would not mind the fact that she is wearing a symbol of her devotion to God on her head, but he would be so intrigued by this human at first meeting
Not about her religion, of course, he is well aware of all the religions in the world; Abrahamic religion being the one he is most familiar with (obvi)
What excited him was the fact that this human was so. friggin. hilarious.
He’s not even sure if this human is doing it on purpose because something would happen that would catch her off guard and she would just say?? the most random shit???
Like say, she got jumped by Mammon and her response to that would be a monotone scream and a “sTOP i could’ve dropped my croissant!” but she was actually genuinely startled
He’d be so fascinated like wow! Go girl, give us nothing!!
He would invite her over for tea so many times just so she could explain slang to him
Diavolo: Tell me MC, what is the meaning of DILF?
Due to personal reasons, MC will now be passing away
He would abuse the usage of slang everywhere and he would be so excited to finally understand what Leviathan is talking about
Lucifer: Diavolo, we must talk about the student council budget
Diavolo: That wasn’t very cash money of you
Lucifer: ....excuse me?
Diavolo: Periodt okurrr slay queen
MC has to go hide to avoid being slaughtered like a sacrificial lamb by Lucifer
Diavolo would be also be curious and impressed at the intricate planning of each and every one of her pranks
Like sure, it may be annoying to be the one at the receiving end of it, but understanding the details behind it?? All the logic, physics and patience put into it just to ensure a flawless delivery??? Absolutely stunning
MC has him mesmerised
He would absolutely want to learn the art of pranking from her
Honestly, at this point it’s no longer the human exchange student and the Devil King, it’s now the mentor and the mentee
Lucifer has to demand MC to stop teaching him these things for the sake of his sanity because it’s taking him away from his royal duties that’s keeping the Devildom from falling apart
They still meet up in secret though screw you, Lucifer
Barbatos
This is another demon whom would not mind the fact that their chosen exchange student is a Muslim
Lord Diavolo’s reputation hangs on this exchange program going extremely well, he would not let simple prejudices put a smear on that
He has prepared himself well to receive people from different walks of life just so he can provide all students a comfortable stay during their term in the Devildom
But wait...what is that human doing?
Oh...this poor man
Not only does he have to keep that ginormous labyrinth of a castle spotless and immaculate at all times and ensure that every event being hosted by the castle is going perfectly without a hitch, but he also has to take care of an overgrown man-child that is also known as the future king of the Devildom
Now, he has to make sure this...mess of a human doesn’t go stir up trouble anywhere?
Barbatos is a calm and collected man, but he’s still a demon; virtues aren’t exactly something they practice
He would need to down three cups of melancholy coffee and squeeze a stress ball whenever he catches MC in her antics whether it is alone or with someone in tow
Somehow he’s the only one whom MC would find almost impossible to prank
Like she managed to catch Lucifer off guard once (that was her proudest achievement) but BARBATOS???? yeah, it’s like he has a pair of eyes on the back of his head or something
MC: *tries to sneak up on him*
Barbatos, not even turning back: Enough of that now, MC, come enjoy this tea I’ve made
Pranking Barbatos will become her number one mission during her entire term in the Devildom
Barbatos would be really amused and impressed at the lengths she would go through just to see that shocked look on his face
Why, it might even be—dare he say—endearing
Though MC will cause this man stress and grey hairs, Barbatos couldn’t help but appreciate her company every time she came around
When she’s not up to her daily shenanigans, she would simply opt to help Barbatos out with some of the chores or preparing the treats for a tea party with the student council members and the exchange program, even though he’s mentioned that she should do no such thing
But knowing that this girl is constantly energetic and restless, Barbs agreed to let her help since he would not want to deal with her breaking some priceless antiques or getting herself in trouble with Devildom law again
She helps to remind him that it’s okay to be laidback once in a while and that he doesn’t need to be so uptight all the time
These two have an unusual friendship but it’s only good vibes all around ^^
Before she leaves the Devildom though, he would pretend that she actually managed to startle him with her last grand prank and the look on her face was worth his reputation taking a slight hit
He totally has a soft spot for her
Solomon
OOOOH THESE TWO
THESE TWO ARE THE EMBODIMENT OF CHAOS ITSELF
Solomon and MC would be the best of friends man
The minute this shady sorcerer laid his eyes on her, he KNEW...this would be his new BFF
They would wreak so much havoc together that they give Lucifer a migraine the size of Lord Diavolo’s castle because they’re rUiNiNG tHe iNtEgRiTy oF tHE eXcHanGe pRoGrAm
Psh, as if that’d stop them
Honestly, it was like they each have one braincell that cancels each other out every time they get together
Lucifer: You two better have an explanation for this
MC: We have three actually.
Solomon: Pick your favourite
Lucifer hates it whenever they get together and he would always try to prevent them from meeting up
But his wits are no match for the power of their friendship!!
Solomon would defff try to persuade MC to get more pacts with other demons
Solomon: C’monnnn MC, we could be powerful! :c
MC: Bold of you to assume we’re not powerful now, bestie
So we have established that MC loves to pull pranks right?
She would have so many ideas on the top of her head that she would never use because 1) they either defy the laws of physics or 2) she would need magic to pull it off perfectly
So imagine her excitement when she found out Solomon is the greatest human sorcerer
She would 100% reel him in her plans and schemes and NO ONE (except the angels, they have immunity bc they’re babies :] ) would be safe from them
Despite all the fun they would have though, Solomon definitely treasures her as his greatest friend
I imagine life for Solomon would be quite lonely and he appreciates the constant joy and company that MC would provide him
He would definitely fuck a bitch up if someone dares to mess with his bestie 🙄
These two adore each other so much but they would be caught DEAD before they would admit that to each other 🤭
Simeon
When they first met, Simeon was so happy to find a person so devoted to God such as MC
He takes it upon himself to become MC’s guardian angel around the Devildom
He would helicopter them for a while and would (reluctantly) back off if MC finds it a bit suffocating
(don’t be mean MC, he just cares about u alot that’s all :( )
This man is capital P patient
I mean, that’s a given with him being an angel and all
But seriously,,, one has to be in awe at how calm and collected he is even when MC would pull pranks that would cause a normal person to wanna punch the living daylights out of her
Eventually she would feel bad and stop pulling these pranks on him though, he’s just too sweet and she can’t take advantage of that </3
They would be really close though (along with Luke) because he would frequently invite her to pray the 5 essential prayers together with Luke or read the Qur’an together and it’s just wholesome vibes all around man 🥺
As angels, him and Luke would have such beautiful recitations of the Qur’an and I can picture MC frequently dropping by Purgatory Hall just to listen to him recite the kalimahs with the perfect tajweed (Non-Muslims if you’d like to hear an example, check out Sheikh Mishary reciting Surah al-Kahf, it’s beautiful man 🥺)
He would frequently invite MC and Luke out for walks too and these three would look so domestic together people often mistake them as a little family (much to the brothers’ chagrin and Simeon’s amusement)
Simeon has such a calming presence that he could even tame a chaotic MC down and have her sit still enough, it will be as if she turned into a completely different person
Lucifer, in his demon form: MC STOP RUNNING AROUND YOU’RE GOING TO FALL AND HURT URSELF
MC, violently shaking like a hamster on crack: U CANT STOP ME LUCI, URE NOT THE BOSS OF-
Simeon: Hello, MC! Would you like to come and have a pleasant chat with me? ^^
MC, as if in a trance: ...anything for you, Beyonce
MC is such a simp for Simeon and honestly, who can blame her?
Luke
Luke was extremely happy when the two of them met
This cutie is a proud servant of God and he loves humans who loves Him as much as he does
So it comes as to no one’s surprise when he attaches himself to MC
This would heighten when MC stepped between him, Beel and Lucifer during that,,,,incident
His favourite time of the day is praying in congregation with MC and Simeon and baking with MC
MC would steer clear from involving Luke in her pranks and/or outright pranking him
He’s just a precious little child okay, MC has a soft spot for this angel
She would definitely try to tone down her chaotic energy around him, but she would NOT hesitate to verbal + cyber bully any demons that dare to bully her child
Rando demon: haha shortstack
MC: So you have chosen death
Seriously, Luke would gawk at the obscenities coming from MC’s mouth
He would have to physically drag her away before the demons could devour them both
He would be absolutely SHOOKETH at the language she used because she has been nothing but sweet and polite to him. It was like she switched into a whole different person right in front of his eyes
Luke: MC! I knew living with those horrid demons is a bad idea! They’ve corrupted you now!! *crying Luke noises*
MC: Lil buddy, I was born this way
He would definitely feel really touched that MC is so protective of him though, but he would have to tell her to never say those words again, even if she’s trying to protect him
She would (hesitantly) tell him she would try her best but that would literally only last for half a day because another demon has foolishly decided to mess with him with her present
MC is Luke’s mother point blank period.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah Al-Isra Ayah 1
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Revealed in Makkah
The Virtues of Surah Al-Isra'
Imam Al-Hafiz Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ismail Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn Mas`ud said concerning Surah Al-Isra' (i.e., Surah Bani Isra`il), Al-Kahf and Maryam:
"They are among the earliest and most beautiful Surahs and they are my treasure.''
Imam Ahmad recorded that A'ishah said:
"The Messenger of Allah used to fast until we would say, he does not want to break his fast, then he would not fast until we would say, he does not want to fast, and he used to recite Bani Isra'il and Az-Zumar every night.''
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
17:1 Glorified be He Who took His servant for a Journey by Night from Al-Masjid Al-Haram to Al- Masjid Al-Aqsa, the neighborhood whereof We have blessed, in order that We might show him of Our Ayat.
Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.
The Isra' (Night Journey)
Allah glorifies Himself,
Glorified be He,
Allah glorifies Himself, for His ability to do that which none but He can do, for there is no God but He and no Lord besides Him.
Who took His servant for a Journey, refers to Muhammad.
by Night,
means, in the depths of the night.
from Al-Masjid Al-Haram, means the Masjid in Makkah.
to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa,
means the Sacred House which is in Jerusalem, the origin of the Prophets from the time of Ibrahim Al-Khalil.
The Prophets all gathered there, and he (Muhammad) led them in prayer in their own homeland. This indicates that he is the greatest leader of all, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and upon them.
the neighborhood whereof We have blessed,
means, its agricultural produce and fruits are blessed
in order that We might show him, (i.e., Muhammad),
of Our Ayat.
i.e., great signs. As Allah says:
Indeed he did see of the greatest signs, of his Lord (Allah). (53:18)
We will mention below what was narrated in the Sunnah concerning this.
Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.
means, He hears all the words of His servants, believers and disbelievers, faithful and infidel, and He sees them and gives each of them what he deserves in this world and the Hereafter.
Hadiths about Al-Isra'
The Report of Anas bin Malik
Imam Ahmad reported from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah said:
Al-Buraq was brought to me, and it was a white animal bigger than a donkey and smaller than a mule. One stride of this creature covered a distance as far as it could see.
I rode on it and it took me to Bayt Al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), where I tethered it at the hitching post of the Prophets. Then I entered and prayed two Rak`ahs there, and came out.
Jibril brought me a vessel of wine and a vessel of milk, and I chose the milk.
Jibril said: `You have chosen the Fitrah (natural instinct).'
Then I was taken up to the first heaven and Jibril asked for it to be opened.
It was said, `Who are you?' He said, `Jibril.' It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was asked, `Has his Mission started?'
He said, `His Mission has started.'
So it was opened for us, and there I saw Adam, who welcomed me and prayed for good for me.
Then I was taken up to the second heaven and Jibril asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who are you?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was asked, `Has his Mission started?' He said, `His Mission has started.'
So it was opened for us, and there I saw the two maternal cousins, Yahya and `Isa, who welcomed me and prayed for good for me.
Then I was taken up to the third heaven and Jibril asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who are you?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was asked, `Has his Mission started?' He said, `His Mission has started.'
So it was opened for us, and there I saw Yusuf, who had been given the beautiful half. He welcomed me and prayed for good for me.
Then I was taken up to the fourth heaven and Jibril asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who are you?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was asked, `Has his Mission started?'
He said, `His Mission has started.'
So it was opened for us, and there I saw Idris, who welcomed me and prayed for good for me.
- then (the Prophet) said: Allah says:
And We raised him to a high station. (19:57) Then he resumed his narrative:
Then I was taken up to the fifth heaven and Jibril asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who are you?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was asked, `Has his Mission started?' He said, `His Mission has started.'
So it was opened for us, and there I saw Harun, who welcomed me and prayed for good for me.
Then I was taken up to the sixth heaven and Jibril asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who are you?'
He said, `Jibril.
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was asked, `Has his Mission started?' He said, `His Mission has started.'
So it was opened for us, and there I saw Musa, who welcomed me and prayed for good for me.
Then I was taken up to the seventh heaven and Jibril asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who are you?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was asked, `Has his Mission started? He said, `His Mission has started.'
So it was opened for us, and there I saw Ibrahim, who was leaning back against the Much-Frequented House (Al-Bayt Al-Ma`mur).
Every day seventy thousand angels enter it, then they never come back to it again.
Then I was taken to Sidrat Al-Muntaha (the Lote tree beyond which none may pass), and its leaves were like the leaves (ears) of elephants and its fruits were like jugs, and when it was veiled with whatever it was veiled with by the command of Allah, it changed, and none of the creatures of Allah can describe it because it is so beautiful.
Then Allah revealed that which He revealed to me.
He enjoined on me fifty prayers every day and night.
I came down until I reached Musa, and he said, `What did your Lord enjoin on your Ummah!'
I said, `Fifty prayers everyday and night.'
He said, `Go back to your Lord and ask Him to reduce (the burden) for your Ummah, for your Ummah will not be able to do that. I tested the Children of Israel and found out how they were.'
So I went back to my Lord and said, `O Lord, reduce (the burden) for my Ummah for they will never be able to do that.' So He reduced it by five.
I came back down until I met Musa and he asked me, `What did you do?'
I said, `(My Lord) reduced (my burden) by five.'
He said, `Go back to your Lord and ask Him to reduce
(the burden) for your Ummah.'
I kept going back between my Lord and Musa, and (my
Lord) reduced it by five each time, until He said,
`O Muhammad,
these are five prayers every day and night, and for every prayer there is (the reward of) ten, so they are (like) fifty prayers.
Whoever wants to do something good then does not do it, one good deed will be recorded for him, and if he does it, ten good deeds will be recorded for him.
Whoever wants to do something evil and does not do it, no evil deed will be recorded for him, and if he does it, one evil deed will be recorded for him.'
I came down until I reached Musa, and told him about this.
He said: `Go back to your Lord and ask him to reduce (the burden) for your Ummah, for they will never be able to do that.'
I had kept going back to my Lord until I felt too shy.
This version was also recorded by Muslim. Imam Ahmad recorded Anas saying that;
Al-Buraq was brought to the Prophet on the Night of the Isra' with his saddle and reins ready for riding. The animal shied, and Jibril said to him:
"Why are you doing this! By Allah, no one has ever ridden you who is more honored by Allah than him.''
At this, Al-Buraq started to sweat.
This was also recorded by At-Tirmidhi, who said it
is Gharib.
Ahmad also recorded that Anas said:
"The Messenger of Allah said:
When I was taken up to my Lord (during Al-Mi'raj), I passed by people who had nails of copper with which they were scratching their faces and chests. I asked, `Who are these, O Jibril!'
He said, `These are those who ate the flesh of the people (i.e., backbiting) and slandered their honor.'
This was also recorded by Abu Dawud.
Anas also said that the Messenger of Allah said:
On the night when I was taken on my Night Journey (Al- Isra'), I passed by Musa, who was standing, praying in his grave.
This was also recorded by Muslim.
The Report of Anas bin Malik from Malik bin Sa`sa`ah
Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas bin Malik said that Malik bin Sa`sa`ah told him that the Prophet of Allah told them about the night in which he was taken on the Night Journey (Al-Isra').
He said:
While I was lying down in Al-Hatim (or maybe, Qatadah said, in Al-Hijr) 'someone came to me and said to his companion, `The one who is in the middle of these three.' He came to me and opened me.
I (one of the narrators) heard Qatadah say, `split me - from here to here.'
Qatadah said: "I said to Al-Jarud, who was beside me, `What does that mean?'
He said, `From the top of his chest to below his navel', and I heard him say, `from his throat to below his navel'.
The Prophet said:
He took out my heart and brought a golden vessel filled with faith and wisdom. He washed my heart then filled it up and put it back, then a white animal was brought to me that was smaller than a mule and larger than a donkey.
Al-Jarud said, `Was this Al-Buraq?, O Abu Hamzah!'
He said, `Yes, and its stride covered a distance as far as
it could see.'
The Prophet said:
I was mounted upon it and Jibril brought me to the first heaven, and asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who is this?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was said, `Has his Mission started?'
He said, `Yes.'
It was said, `Welcome to him, blessed is the one who comes.'
So it was opened for us and when I entered, I saw Adam.
(Jibril) said, `This is your father Adam, greet him.' So I greeted him, and he returned the greeting then said, `Welcome to the righteous son and righteous Prophet.'
Then Gabriel ascended with me till we reached the second heaven. Gabriel asked for the gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?'
Gabriel answered, 'Gabriel.'
It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?'
Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.'
It was asked, 'Has he been called?'
Gabriel answered in the affirmative.
Then it was said, 'He is welcomed. What an excellent visit his is!' The gate was opened.
When I went over the second heaven, there I saw Yahya (i.e. John) and 'Isa (i.e. Jesus) who were cousins of each other.
Gabriel said (to me), 'These are Yahya and 'Isa; pay them your greetings.' So I greeted them and both of them returned my greetings to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.'
Then Gabriel ascended with me to the third heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?'
Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel.'
It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?'
Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.'
It was asked, 'Has he been called?'
Gabriel replied in the affirmative.
Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his is!'
The gate was opened, and when I went over the third heaven there I saw Yusuf (Joseph).
Gabriel said (to me), 'This is Yusuf; pay him your greetings.'
So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.'
Then Gabriel ascended with me to the fourth heaven and asked for its gate to be opened. It was asked, 'Who is it?'
Gabriel replied, 'Gabriel'
It was asked, 'Who is accompanying you?' Gabriel replied, 'Muhammad.'
It was asked, 'Has he been called?' Gabriel replied in the affirmative.
Then it was said, 'He is welcomed, what an excellent visit his is!'
The gate was opened, and when I went over the fourth heaven, there I saw Idris. Gabriel said (to me), 'This is Idris; pay him your greetings.'
So I greeted him and he returned the greeting to me and said, 'You are welcomed, O pious brother and pious Prophet.'
Then I was taken up to the fifth heaven, and (Jibril) asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who is this?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad.'
It was said, `Has his Mission started?'
He said, `Yes.'
It was said, `Welcome to him, blessed is the one who comes.'
So it was opened for us and when I entered, I saw Harun.
(Jibril) said, `This is Harun, greet him.' So I greeted him, and he returned the greeting then said, `Welcome to the righteous brother and righteous Prophet.'
Then I was taken up to the sixth heaven, and (Jibril) asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who is this?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?' He said, `Muhammad.'
It was said, `Has his Mission started?'
He said, `Yes.'
It was said, `Welcome to him, blessed is the one who comes.' So it was opened for us and when I entered, I saw Musa.
(Jibril) said, `This is Musa, greet him.'
So I greeted him, and he returned the greeting then said, `Welcome to the righteous brother and righteous Prophet.'
When I passed by him, he wept, and it was said to him, `Why are you weeping' He said, `I am weeping because a young man was sent after me and more people from his Ummah than from mine will enter Paradise.'
Then I was taken up to the seventh heaven, and (Jibril) asked for it to be opened. It was said, `Who is this?'
He said, `Jibril.'
It was said, `Who is with you?'
He said, `Muhammad'.
It was said, `Has his Mission started?'
He said, `Yes.'
It was said, `Welcome to him, blessed is the one who comes.'
So it was opened for us and when I entered, I saw Ibrahim.
(Jibril) said, `This is Ibrahim, greet him.'
So I greeted him, and he returned the greeting then said, `Welcome to the righteous son and righteous Prophet.'
Then I was taken up to Sidrat Al-Muntaha, whose fruits like the clay jugs of Hajar (a region in Arabia) and its leaves were like the ears of elephants.
(Jibril) said: `This is Sidrat Al-Muntaha.' And there were four rivers, two hidden and two visible.
I said, `What is this, O Jibril'
He said, `The two hidden rivers are rivers in Paradise, and the two visible rivers are the Nile and the Euphrates.'
Then I was shown Al-Bayt Al-Ma`mur. Qatadah said:
Al-Hasan told us narrating from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet saw Al-Bayt Al-Ma`mur. Each day seventy thousand angels enter it, then they never return from it.
Then he continued to narrate the Hadith of Anas;
Then I was brought a vessel of wine, a vessel of milk and a vessel of honey.
I chose the milk, and he (Jibril) said, `This is the Fitrah (natural instinct) on which you and your Ummah will be.'
Then the prayer was enjoined upon me, fifty prayers each day.
I came down until I reached Musa, who said, `What did your Lord enjoin upon your Ummah?'
I said, `Fifty prayers each day.'
He said, `Your Ummah will not be able to do fifty prayers each day. I tried the people before you, I had to deal with the Children of Israel and it was very difficult for me. Go back to your Lord and ask Him to reduce the burden on your Ummah.'
So I went back, and the number was reduced by ten. I came back to Musa and he asked, `What were you commanded to do?'
I said, `Forty prayers each day.'
He said, `Your Ummah will not be able to do forty prayers each day.
I said, `I was commanded to do thirty prayers each day.'
He said, `Your Ummah will not be able to do thirty prayers each day.
I said, `Twenty prayers each day.'
He said, `Your Ummah will not be able to do twenty prayers each day. I tried the people before you, I had to deal with the Children of Israel and it was very difficult for me. Go back to your Lord and ask Him to reduce the burden on your Ummah.'
So I went back, and the number was reduced by ten more.
I came back to Musa and he asked, `What were you commanded to do?'
I said, `Ten prayers each day.'
He said, `Your Ummah will not be able to do ten prayers each day. I tried the people before you, I had to deal with the Children of Israel and it was very difficult for me. Go back to your Lord and ask Him to reduce the burden on your Ummah.'
So I went back, and I was commanded to do five prayers every day.
I came back to Musa and he asked, `What were you commanded to do?'
I said, `Five prayers each day.'
He said, `Your Ummah will not be able to do five prayers each day. I tried the people before you, I had to deal with the Children of Israel and it was very difficult for me. Go back to your Lord and ask Him to reduce the burden on your Ummah.'
I said, `I have asked my Lord until I feel too shy. I accept this and submit to Him.'
Then a voice called out: `My order has been decreed and I have reduced the burden on My servants.'
Similar narrations were recorded in the Two Sahihs.
The Report of Anas from Abu Dharr
Al-Bukhari recorded that Anas bin Malik said:
Abu Dharr used to tell us that the Messenger of Allah said:
The roof of my house was opened while I was in Makkah, and Jibril came down and opened my chest, then he washed it with Zamzam water. Then he brought a vessel of gold filled with wisdom and faith, and poured it into my chest, then he closed it up. Then he took me by the hand and took me up to the lowest heaven.
When we came to the lowest heaven, Jibril said to its keeper, `Open up!'
He said, `Who is this?'
He said, `Jibril.'
He said, `Is there anyone with you?' He said, `Yes, Muhammad is with me.' He said, `Has his Mission started?'
He said, `Yes.'
When it was opened, we went up into the first heaven, where I saw a man sitting with a multitude to his right and another to his left. When he looked to his right he smiled, and when he looked to his left, he wept.
He said, `Welcome to the righteous Prophet and the righteous son.'
I said to Jibril, `Who is this?'
He said, `This is Adam, and these multitudes to his right and left are the souls of his descendants. The people on his right include the people of Paradise, and the people on his left include the people of Hell, so when he looks to his right he smiles, and when he looks to his left he weeps.'
Then he took me up to the second heaven...
... Then we passed by Ibrahim, who said, `Welcome to the righteous Prophet and the righteous son.'
I said, `Who is this?'
He said, `This is Ibrahim.'
He said, `Welcome to the righteous Prophet and the righteous son.'
Az-Zuhri said: Ibn Hazm told me that Ibn Abbas and Abu Habbah Al-Ansari used to say:
the Prophet narrated here -
Then I was taken up until I reached a level where I could hear the sound of the pens.
Ibn Hazm and Anas bin Malik said: the Messenger of Allah said:
Allah enjoined upon my Ummah fifty prayers.
I came back with this (message) until I passed by Musa, who said, `What did your Lord enjoin upon your Ummah?'
I said, `He enjoined fifty prayers.'
Musa said, `Go back to your Lord, for your Ummah will not be able to do that.'
So I went back, and He reduced it by half.
Then I came back to Musa and said, `It has been reduced by half.'
He said, `Go back to your Lord, for your Ummah will not be able to do that.'
So I went back, and it was reduced by half.
I came back to him, and he said, `Go back to your Lord, for your Ummah will not be able to do that.'
So I went back, and He said: `They are five but equal in reward to fifty, for My word does not change.'
I came back to Musa and he said, `Go back to your Lord.'
I said, `I feel too shy before my Lord.'
Then I was taken up until I reached Sidrat Al- Muntaha, which was veiled in indescribable colors. Then I entered Paradise, in which I saw nets of pearls and its soil of musk.
This version was recorded by Al-Bukhari in the Book of Prayer.
He also reported in the Book of Tafsir, under the discussion of Bani Isra'il (i.e., Surah Al-Isra'), the Book of Hajj and the Stories of the Prophets, via different chains of narration from Yunus.
Muslim recorded similar Hadiths in his Sahih in the Book of Faith.
Imam Ahmad recorded that Abdullah bin Shaqiq said:
I said to Abu Dharr, "If I had seen the Messenger of Allah, I would have asked him.''
He said, "What would you have asked him?''
He said, "I would have asked him, if he saw his Lord?''
He said, "I did ask him that, and he said,
I saw it as light, how could I see Him!''
This is how it was narrated in the report of Imam Ahmad.
Muslim recorded that Abdullah bin Shaqiq said that Abu Dharr said:
"I asked the Messenger of Allah, `Did you see your Lord?'
He said,
(I saw) a light, how could I see Him?''
Abdullah bin Shaqiq said: I said to Abu Dharr, "If I had seen the Messenger of Allah, I would have asked him.''
He said, "What would you have asked him?''
He said, "I would have asked him, `Did you see your Lord?''
Abu Dharr said, "I asked him that, and he said,
I saw light.
The Report of Jabir bin Abdullah
Imam Ahmad recorded that Jabir bin Abdullah said that he heard the Messenger of Allah say:
When Quraysh did not believe that I had been taken on the Night Journey to Bayt Al-Maqdis, I stood up in Al- Hijr and Allah displayed Bayt Al-Maqdis before me, so I told them about its features while I was looking at it.
This was also reported in the Two Sahihs with different chains of narration.
According to Al-Bayhaqi, Ibn Shihab said that Abu Salamah bin Abdur-Rahman said:
Some people from Quraish went to Abu Bakr and said, "Have you heard what your companion is saying He is claiming that he went to Bayt Al-Maqdis and came back to Makkah in one night!''
Abu Bakr said, "Did he say that!'' They said, "Yes.''
Abu Bakr said, "Then I bear witness that if he said that, he is speaking the truth.''
They said, "You believe that he went to Ash-Sham (Greater Syria) in one night and came back to Makkah before morning!''
He said, "Yes, I believe him with regard to something even more than that. I believe him with regard to the revelation that comes to him from heaven.''
Abu Salamah said, from then on Abu Bakr was known as As-Siddiq (the true believer).
The Report of Abdullah bin Abbas
Imam Ahmad recorded that Ibn Abbas said:
"On the night when the Messenger of Allah was taken on his Night Journey, he entered Paradise, in some part of which he heard a sound.
He said, `O Jibril, what is this?'
He said, `This is Bilal, the Mu'adhdhin.'
When the Prophet came back to the people, he said,
Bilal has succeeded; I saw that he will have such and such.
He (the Prophet) was met by Musa, who welcomed him and said, `Welcome to the Unlettered Prophet.'
He was a tall, dark man with lank hair coming down to his ears or above his ears.
He said, `Who is this, O Jibril!'
He said, `This is Musa.'
Then he went on and met a venerable, distinguished old man, who welcomed him and greeted him with Salam, and all of them were greeting him. He said, `Who is this?, O Jibril!'
He said, `This is your father Ibrahim.'
Then he looked into Hell and saw some people eating rotten meat. He said, `Who are these people, O Jibril!'
He said, `They are those who used to eat the flesh of the people (i.e., backbiting).'
He saw a man who was very red and dark blue, and said, `Who is this, O Jibril!'
He said, `This is the one who slaughtered the she-camel (of Salih).'
When the Messenger of Allah came to Al-Masjid Al- Aqsa, he stood up to pray, and all the Prophets gathered and prayed with him. When he finished, he was brought two cups, one on his right and one on his left, one containing milk and one containing honey. He took the milk and drank it, and the one who was carrying the cup said, `You have chosen the Fitrah (natural instinct).'''
The chain of narrators is Sahih, although they (Al- Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
Imam Ahmad reported that Ibn Abbas said:
"The Messenger of Allah was taken on the Night Journey to Bayt Al-Maqdis, then he came back and told them about his journey and the features of Bayt Al-Maqdis and the caravan (of Quraysh).
Some people said, `We do not believe what Muhammad is saying,' and they left Islam and became disbelievers. Allah destroyed them when He destroyed Abu Jahl.
Abu Jahl said: `Muhammad is trying to scare us with the tree of Zaqqum; bring some dates and butter and let us have some Zaqqum!'
The Prophet also saw the Dajjal in his true form, in real life, not in a dream, and he saw `Isa, Musa and Ibrahim.
The Prophet was asked about the Dajjal, and he said:
I saw him as a tall and huge man, with a whitish complexion. One of his eyes stood out like a shining star. The hair on his head looked like the branches of a tree.
And I saw `Isa, white with curly hair and an intense gaze, of average build.
I saw Musa, dark-skinned, with a lot of hair and a strong build.
I looked at Ibrahim and did not see anything in him that I do not see in myself; it is as if he were your companion (meaning himself).
Jibril said: `Greet your father with Salam,' so I greeted him with Salam.
This was also recorded by An-Nasa'i from the Hadith of Abu Zayd Thabit bin Yazid from Hilal, who is Ibn Khabbab, and it is a Sahih chain of narrators.
Al-Bayhaqi recorded that Abu Al-Aliyah said: "The cousin of your Prophet, Ibn Abbas narrated to us from the Messenger of Allah, he said:
Allah's Messenger said,
On the night when I was taken on the Night Journey, I saw Musa bin Imran, a tall, curly- haired man, as if he was from the tribe of Shanu'ah. And I saw `Isa bin Maryam, of medium stature, white with a reddish complexion, with straight hair.
And he was shown Malik, the keeper of Hell, and the Dajjal, with the signs that Allah revealed to him.'
He said,
So be not you in doubt of meeting him. )32:33(
Qatadah used to interpret this to mean that the Prophet of Allah met Musa.
And We made it (or him) a guide to the Children of Israel. (32:33)
Qatadah said:
"(This means) Allah made Musa a guide for the Children of Israel.''
Muslim reported this in his Sahih, and Al-Bukhari and Muslim recorded a shorter version from Qatadah.
Imam Ahmad also recorded that Ibn Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah said:
On the night when I was taken on the Night Journey, I woke up in Makkah the next morning having anxiety that, I knew that the people would not believe me.
He kept away from people, feeling anxious and sad, then the enemy of Allah Abu Jahl passed by him and came to sit with him, saying mockingly, `Is there anything new!'
The Messenger of Allah said, (Yes). He said, `What is it?'
He said, I was taken on a Journey last night.
He said, `Where to?'
He said,
(To Bayt Al - Maqdis) .
He said, `Then this morning you were among us!' He said, (Yes).
Abu Jahl did not want to say to his face that he was lying, lest he deny saying it when he called other people to hear him, so he said: `Do you think that if I call your people, you will tell them about what happened!'
The Messenger of Allah said, (Yes).
Abu Jahl said, `O people of Bani Ka`b bin Lu'ay!'
People got up from where they were sitting and came to join them.
Abu Jahl said, `Tell your people what you told me.'
I(The Messenger of Allah said was taken on a Journey last night).
They said, `Where to!'
He said,
(To Bayt Al - Maqdis) .
They said, `Then this morning you were among us!'
He said, (Yes).
They began to clap their hands together and put their hands on their heads in astonishment at this "lie'' - as they claimed it to be.
They said, `Can you describe the sanctuary to us!'
Among them were some who had traveled to that land and seen the sanctuary, so the Messenger of Allah said,
I started to describe it, until I reached a point where I was not sure about some of the details, but then the sanctuary was brought close and placed near the house of `Uqayl - or `Iqal - so I could look at it and describe the details.
I could not remember those description.
The people said, `As for the description, by Allah he has got it right.''
This was recorded by An-Nasa'i and Al-Bayhaqi.
The Report of Abdullah bin Mas`ud
Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqi reported that Abdullah bin Mas`ud said:
"When the Messenger of Allah was taken on the Night Journey, he went as far as Sidrat Al-Muntaha, which is in the sixth heaven. Everything that ascends stops there, until it is taken from that point, and everything that comes down stops there, until it is taken from there.
When that covered As-Sidrat Al-Muntaha which did cover it! (53:16)
Ibn Mas`ud said:
"It is covered with gold butterflies. The Messenger of Allah was given the five prayers and the final
Ayat of Surah Al-Baqarah, and forgiveness was granted for major sins to those who do not associate anything in worship with Allah.''
This was recorded by Muslim in his Sahih.
The Report of Abu Hurayrah
Al-Bukhari and Muslim reported in their Sahihs that Abu Hurayrah said:
the Messenger of Allah said:
When I was taken on the Night Journey, I met Musa.
He described him as a man - I think he said - a curly- haired man, as if he were from the tribe of Shanu'ah.
And I met `Isa.
And the Prophet described him as being of average height, with a reddish complexion, as if he had just come out of the bath.
And I met Ibrahim, and I am the one who resembles him most among his children.
I was brought two vessels, one containing milk and the other containing wine.
It was said to me, `Take whichever one you want.' So I took the milk and drank it, and it was said to me,
`You have been guided to the Fitrah - or - You have chosen the Fitrah. If you had chosen the wine, your Ummah would have gone astray.'''
They also recorded it with another chain of narrators. Muslim recorded that Abu Hurayrah said:
"The Messenger of Allah said:
I remember being in Al-Hijr, and the Quraysh were asking me about my Night Journey. They asked me things about Bayt Al-Maqdis that I was not sure of, and I felt more anxious and stressed then than I have ever felt. Then Allah raised up Bayt Al-Maqdis for me to see, and there was nothing they asked me about but I told them about it.
And I remember being in a gathering of the Prophets. Musa was standing there praying, and he was a man with curly hair, as if he were one of the men of Shanu'ah.
I saw `Isa bin Maryam standing there praying, and the one who most resembles him is `Urwah bin Mas`ud Ath- Thaqafi.
And I saw Ibrahim standing there praying, and the one who most resembles him is your companion (meaning himself).
Then the time for prayer came, and I led them in prayer. When I finished, a voice said, `O Muhammad, this is Malik, the keeper of Hell,' so I turned to him, and he greeted me first.''
Musa bin Uqbah said, narrating from Az-Zuhri:
"The Isra' happened one year before the Hijrah.'' This was also the opinion of Urwah.
As-Suddi said:
"It happened sixteen months before the Hijrah.''
The truth is that the Prophet was taken on the Night Journey when he was awake, not in a dream, and he went from Makkah to Bayt Al-Maqdis riding on Al-Buraq.
When he reached the door of the sanctuary, he tied up his animal by the door and entered, where he prayed two Rak`ahs to `greet the Masjid'.
Then the Mi`raj was brought to him, which is a ladder with steps which one climbs up. So he went up on it to the first heaven, then he went up to the rest of the seven heavens.
The Time that Isra' took place, and the Fact that it included both Body and Soul, when the Prophet was awake, not in a Dream
In each heaven he was welcomed by the most pious of its inhabitants, and he greeted the Prophets who were in the various heavens according to their positions and status.
He passed by Musa, the one who spoke with Allah, in the sixth heaven, and Ibrahim, the close friend (Khalil) of Allah in the seventh heaven.
Then he surpassed them and all the Prophets in status and reached a level where he could hear the creaking of the pens, i.e., the pens of destiny which write down what is decreed to happen.
He saw Sidrat Al-Muntaha, covered by the command of Allah, and its greatness, its butterflies of gold and various colors, surrounded by the angels. There he saw Jibril in his real form, with six hundred wings.
He saw green cushions blocking the horizon. He saw Al-Bayt Al-Ma`mur, and Ibrahim Al-Khalil, the builder of the earthly Ka`bah, leaning back against it, the heavenly Ka`bah; every day, seventy thousand angels enter and worship therein, then they do not return to it until the Day of Resurrection.
He saw Paradise and Hell, and Allah enjoined upon him fifty prayers, then reduced it to five, as an act of mercy and kindness towards His servants. In this is a strong indication of the greatness and virtue of the prayers.
Then he came back down to Bayt Al-Maqdis, and the Prophets came down with him and he led them in prayer there when the time for prayer came. It may have been the dawn prayer of that day.
Some people claim that he led them in prayer in heaven, but the reports seem to say that it was in Bayt Al-Maqdis.
In some reports it says that it happened when he first entered (i.e., before ascending into the heavens), but it is more likely that it was after he came back, because when he passed by them in the places in the heavens, he asked Jibril about them, one by one, and Jibril told him about them. This is more appropriate, because he was first required to come before the Divine Presence, so that what Allah willed could be enjoined upon him and his Ummah. When the matter for which he was required had been dealt with, he and his brother-Prophets gathered, and his virtue and high position in relation to them became apparent when he was asked to come forward to lead them, which was when Jibril indicated to him that he should do so.
Then he came out of Bayt Al-Maqdis and rode on Al-Buraq back to Makkah in the darkness of the night. And Allah knows best.
As for his being presented with the vessels containing milk and honey, or milk and wine, or milk and water, or all of these, some reports say that this happened in Bayt Al-Maqdis, and others say that it happened in the heavens. It is possible that it happened in both places, because it is like offering food or drink to a guest when he arrives, and Allah knows best.
The Prophet was taken on the Night Journey with body and soul, he was awake, not asleep. The evidence for this is the Ayah:
Glorified (and Exalted) be He (Allah) Who took His servant for a Journey by Night from Al-Masjid Al- Haram to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa, the neighborhood whereof We have blessed,
The words "Subhan Allah'' (Glorified and exalted be Allah) are spoken in the case of serious matters. If it had been a dream, it would have been a significant matter and would not have been so astounding; the disbelievers of the Quraysh would not have hastened to label him a liar and the group of people who had become Muslims would not have deserted the faith.
The word `Abd (servant) refers to both soul and body.
Allah says:
took His servant for a Journey by Night.
and:
And We made not the vision which we showed
you but a trial for mankind. (17:60) Ibn Abbas said:
"This is the vision that the Messenger of Allah saw with his own eyes during the Journey by Night, and the cursed tree is the tree of Zaqqum.''
This was recorded by Al-Bukhari. Allah said:
The sight (of Prophet Muhammad) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond the limit (ordained for it). (53:17)
Sight (Al-Basr) is a physical faculty, not a spiritual one, and he was carried on Al- Buraq, a shining white animal. This too indicates a physical journey, because the soul does not need a means of transportation of this nature.
And Allah knows best.
An Interesting Story
In his book Dala'il An-Nubuwwah, Al-Hafiz Abu Nu`aym Al- Isbahani recorded via Muhammad bin Umar Al-Waqidi who said:
Malik bin Abi Ar-Rijjal told me from Amr bin Abdullah that Muhammad bin Ka`b Al-Qurazi said:
"The Messenger of Allah sent Dihyah bin Khalifah to Caesar.''
He mentioned how he came to him, and described an incident that showed how wise Caesar was.
He sent for the Arab merchants who were in Syria and Abu Sufyan Sakhr bin Harb and his companions were brought to him. He asked them the well-known questions that were recorded by Al-Bukhari and Muslim, as we shall discuss below, and Abu Sufyan tried hard to give the impression that this was an insignificant issue.
(The narrator) said that Abu Sufyan (later) said:
"By Allah, nothing stopped me from saying something to Heraclius to make him despise (Muhammad) but the fact that I did not want to tell a lie that would later be found out, and he would never believe me again after that.
Then I told him about the night on which he was taken on the Night Journey.
I said: `O King, shall I not tell you of something from which you will know that he is lying!'
He said, `What is it?'
I said: `He claims that he went out of our land, the land of Al-Haram, in one night, and came to your sanctuary in Jerusalem, then came back to us the same night, before morning came.'
The Patriarch of Jerusalem was there, standing next to Caesar.
The Patriarch of Jerusalem said: `I know that night.'
Caesar looked at him and said, `How do you know about this!'
He said,
`I never used to sleep at night until I closed the doors of the sanctuary. On that night I closed all the doors except for one, which I could not manage to close. I asked my workers and others who were with me to help me deal with it, but we could not move it. It was like trying to move a mountain. So I called the carpenters, and they looked at it and said: The lintel and some part of the structure has fallen onto it. We cannot move it until morning, when we will be able to see what the problem is. So I went back and left those two doors open.
The next morning I went back, and saw that the stone at the corner of the sanctuary had a hole in it, and there were traces of an animal having been tethered there.
I said to my companions: This door has not been closed last night except for a Prophet, who prayed last night in our sanctuary.'''
And he mentioned the rest of the Hadith.
In his book At-Tanwir fi Mawlid As-Siraj Al-Munir, Al- Hafiz Abu Al-Khattab Umar bin Dihyah mentioned the Hadith of the Isra' narrated from Anas, and spoke well about it, then he said:
"The reports of the Hadith of the Isra' reach the level of Mutawatir.
They were narrated from;
• Umar bin Al-Khattab,
• Ali, Ibn Mas`ud,
• Abu Dharr,
• Malik bin Sa`sa`ah,
• Abu Hurayrah,
• Abu Sa`id,
• Ibn Abbas,
• Shaddad bin Aws,
• Ubayy bin Ka`b,
• Abdur-Rahman bin Qarat,
• Abu Habbah Al-Ansari,
• Abu Layla Al-Ansari,
• Abdullah bin `Amr,
• Jabir, Hudhayfah,
• Buraydah,
• Abu Ayub,
• Abu Umamah,
• Samurah bin Jundub,
• Abu Al-Hamra',
• Suhayb Ar-Rumi,
• Umm Hani', and
• A'ishah and Asma', the daughters of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq,
may Allah be pleased with them all.
Some of them narrated the incident at length, and others narrated it more briefly, as was reported in the Musnad collections.
Even though some reports do not fulfill the conditions of Sahih, nevertheless the Muslims agreed unanimously on the fact that the Isra' happened, and it was rejected only by the heretics and apostates.
They intend to put out the Light of Allah with their mouths. But Allah will bring His Light to perfection even though the disbelievers hate (it). (61:8)

Allah calls Himself Jaami’—Gatherer, Collector, One
Who Unites— on two occasions in the Quran. He is the One who gathers, reconciles, assembles, and unites. Al-Jaami’ is the One who brought the whole universe together, who reconciles hearts, who connects opposites and that which is similar, and who will gather all to stand before Him!
The One Who Gathers and Collects, the Uniter
Jaami’ comes from the root jeem-meem-‘ayn, which points to three main meanings. The first meaning is to gather or to bring together, accumulate, or congregate. The second main meaning is to connect, combine, or unite. The third main meaning is to reconcile or resolve and the fourth is to arrange, assemble, or compose.
This root appears 129 times in the Quran in 11 derived forms. Examples of these forms are yajma’oona (they accumulate), ajma’eena or jamee’an (all together), al-jam’aani (the two forces, the two hosts) and jama’oo (gathered).
Linguistically, the concept of jam refers to both physical gathering and union, such as yawm ul-jumu’ah ( the day people gather) and ‘ijmaa (scholarly consensus) as spiritual reconciliation, such as bringing the hearts people together after enmity.
Al-Jaami’ is the One who makes substances in the bodies work together, who gathers all different creatures living side by side in the world and so will disassemble us and compose us again when He gathers us on the Day of Judgment!
Al-Jaami’ Himself says: Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise [Quran, 3:9]  . . . Indeed, you would then be like them. Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together. [Quran, 4:140]
The Day of Gathering
Friday, or the day of Al-Jumu’ah, is a blessing Allah ‘azza wa jall granted the believers. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: Allah sent astray those who had come before us from Al-Jumu’ah (The Day of Gathering/Friday).  So the Jews were guided to yawmus-Sabt (Saturday), and the Christians were guided to yawmul-Ahad (Sunday).  So Allah presented to us, therefore guided us to Al-Jumu’ah.  Furthermore, they will follow us on yawmul-Qiyaamah (The Day of Standing and Reckoning).  We are last from amongst Ahlud-Dunyaa -the people of this life- and first on yawmul-Qiyaamah  [Muslim]
The Day of Resurrection is also known as the Day of Gathering, because on that Day Allah will gather His slaves for their final Judgments; this is the great gathering. Allah ‘azza wa jall tells us about Yawm ul-Jam’i (the Day of Assembly): The Day He will assemble you for the Day of Assembly – that is the Day of Deprivation. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness – He will remove from him his misdeeds and admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. [Quran, 64:9]
How Can You Live by This Name?
1. Remember the Day of Gathering.
Allah– there is no deity except Him. He will surely assemble you for [account on] the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. And who is more truthful than Allah in statement. [Quran, 4:87] Reflect on the greatness of Allah ‘azza wa jall who is able to bring all of mankind, from the old ages to the last of times, together in one place. Every day think about your standing in front of Him, Al-Jaami’.
2.Strive for the shade of Al-Jaami’.
Couple your knowledge and remembrance of the Day of Judgment with action. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: There are seven whom Allah will shade in His Shade on the Day when there is no shade except His Shade: a just ruler; a youth who grew up in the worship of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic; a man whose heart is attached to the mosques; two men who love each other for Allah’s sake, meeting for that and parting upon that; a man who is called by a woman of beauty and position [for illegal intercourse], but he says: ‘I fear Allah’, a man who gives in charity and hides it, such that his left hand does not know what his right hand gives in charity; and a man who remembered Allah in private and so his eyes shed tears [Al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]
Study each type carefully and strive to practice (elements of ) each in your daily life: connect with and look after your local mosque, come together with people for the sake of Allah, give secret sadaqah and cry out of love and fear for Him when you are alone.
3. Observe the etiquettes of Friday.
Which role does yawm ul-Jumuah play in your life? Study the virtues of Friday and practice the sunan so you can be immensely rewarded. For example, read Surah Al-Kahf, perform ghusl, pray the Jumu’ah prayer, and listen to the sermon (khutbah) and go early for it. Also supplicate to Allah ‘azza wa jall as much as possible, especially the last hour after ‘Asr and send peace and blessings on the Prophet abundantly.*
4. Bring people together.
Apart from bringing together your knowledge with action and your personal acts of worship like salah, Al-Jaami’ rewards you for your acts of helping creation and bringing people together.
For example, pray in congregation, but also try to reconcile two parties in conflict and bring people together by sharing your dinner. Remember, unity doesn’t mean there are not differences in opinions, strategies, and backgrounds; it means you should be united through a bigger picture, seeing the Quran and the Sunnah as the rope you are holding on to together. As Al-Jaami’ says:  And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and lose courage and your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient  [Quran, 8:46]
O Allah, Al-Jaami’, we know that You bring together and gather all things. Make us reflect on the ways You brought to us and the rest of creation together and aid us to observe the sunan of yawm ul-Jumuah. Make us of those who join and stay with the jama’a (congregation), bring others together for good, and open our hearts to remember the Day of Gathering often and strive for Your shade, ameen!

*The rewards of the sunan of Friday are mentioned in different narrations. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said:  The best of days is Friday; so increase in conveying peace and blessings on me that day, for your blessings will be submitted to me [Abu Dawood, An-Nasaa’i, Ibn Majah]
Seek the hour in which there is hope that prayers will be answered, on Friday after Asr prayer, until the sun goes down [At-Tirmidhee]
Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Jumu’ah will have illumination from the light from one Jumu’ah to the next [Al-Haakim]
Whoever makes his wife do ghusl and does ghusl himself on Friday and goes out early, walking not riding, and comes close to the imaam and listens [to the sermon] without interrupting, will have for each step he takes a reward equal to that of fasting and praying at night for one year[Ahmad, at-Tirmidhee]
In another narration the use of perfume is mentioned in addition to above sunan and the reward is mentioned as:his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven [Al-Bukaaree]
Wallahu ta’alaa ‘alem.

The Fertile Genes الجينات الخصبة
الجينات الخصبة
The Fertile Genes
Khalid Shraidah, University of Qassim Buraida
Translated by: Rasha Khan
Recorded by Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Al-Dossary
Genes, which are the basic units for passing on traits in living beings, are also divine miracles placed by Allah in His creation. Genes are mainly responsible for biological processes that occur in the body. However, here I will be talking from a different perspective, about a certain kind of fertility that is passed on from one generation to another, not in their physical traits but in their morals. These include virtue, goodness, being a giving person, serving the creation, being righteous and improving conditions. Allah has made this aspect a hereditary gene and a divine law, as a reward for everyone who gives selflessly for the sake of his religion, and improves conditions in the world he lives in.
The fertility of social genes is an important aspect to bring attention to. I am presenting it here so that we may dive into its meanings and see the extent of its impact in social life.
The concept of “fertile genes” has been emphasized by the Book of Allah, in which it is stated that the Book will be inherited to all those of His slaves whom He the Almighty has especially chosen. The quality which has been engrained in these chosen ones, and in their succeeding generations, is that “they guided (others) by Our Command.”
Then in Surah Aal Imraan Allah said: “Indeed, Allah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imraan over all the worlds.” Why? Because they used to hasten to do good deeds and supplicate Allah out of hope and fear, and they were humbly submissive to Allah. The prophets mentioned in this Ayah used to inherit the best of morals and virtues from each other. This is the fertility of genes that I am referring to. Another quality of righteous people who improve conditions around them is that they do not just do good deeds; rather, they hasten to do them and compete with each other to do them. As mentioned in Surah Al Muminoon, Ayah 61: “It is those who hasten to good deeds, and outstrip others therein.”
Thus, the social concept, comprising Allah’s divine laws when it comes to the lives of His creation, which we are presenting now is a new way of thinking about social inheritance that is passed on from one generation to another, as per the ways of fathers and grandfathers, whether over a long or short period of time. In fact, some scholars of Tafseer consider that the treasure which Allah brought forth at the hands of Al Khidhr for the two orphans in Surah Al Kahf was not brought forth due to their being orphans. Rather, it was because their father had been  righteous. Thus, their treasure was kept safe for them.
Thus, righteousness (the inheritance or legacy) was the most important factor in this event. It is said that the father in the story was not even their direct father, but a sixth or even tenth forebear. Thus, Allah may have treasures in store for us which we will inherit not by the efforts and hard work people usually put in so that they can hand down wealth to their inheritors; rather, it is different kinds if good deeds that will cause us to inherit that wealth, and with it, a position, reputation and good influence as well.
This is a social and faith-related aspect that we need to contemplate and spread among people due to its huge impact on our lives and the future of coming generations. Even to those who speak about sustainability, I say that this concept of “the sustainability of goodness” is a great concept that deserves our care and attention.
Fertile genes are not just genes that are transferred from parents and grandparents and affect the facial features, skin color, and height. Rather, these genes affect something greater than that, which is the extent of giving, righteousness, and efforts made for the happiness and guidance of human beings.
One of the beautiful things we can glean from this concept is that we should become aware, and we should know, learn and teach others, that the charity of our deeds does not stop at our current actions; rather, Allah stores it for our coming generations. We will have the great rewards of our actions in our scales on the Day we meet Him. When people understand this great concept of “fertile genes”, they will imcrease their good deeds which serve the land and the people. They will perform their duties and fulfil their obligations which integrity and a sense of responsibility.
Contemplate the stances of the Companions and the Successors of the Companions, and the great deeds of the men and women in our history. One of them says, “When I pray, I remember my son, so I increase my prayer that he may be protected after me.”It is also narrated from one of the Successors of the Companions that he said to his son: “I increase my prayer for your sake, O my son!”
The impact of upbringing at the hands of righteous women is clear in the phenomenon of seeking knowledge and the scholars in our history. So many famous scholars and leaders, such as Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, Al Bukhaari and others, were the product of righteous mothers. What fertile effects they and others like them had on our lives and until today, and on our futures as well. Is this not fertility? It is fertitlity that is flowing with a strength proportionate to the amount of righteousness and improvement of conditions that it contains among its ingredients. Indeed, it is through the righteousness of a man and woman that Allah protects their near and dear ones, as well as their image and reputation among people, all in accordance with Allah’s decree, favour, mercy and the amount of fertility of righteousness, which is reproduced in the real world where people live.
It is narrated from Muhammad bin Al Munkadir that he said, “Indeed, Allah protects the children of a righteous man, his children’s children and the little houses around them. They remain in Allah’s protection and covering.” We see and read about how many scholars have inherited scholars, and how many leaders inherited influential families. Our reality bears witness to this truth of divine law taking place as long as the fertility of goodness remains in us and our generations.
My thoughts on this fertile concept, that of “fertile genes”, keep occurring  one after the other. However, I prefer to not make this too long; therefore, I have mentioned certain aspects of it for the contemplation and reflection of all those who read these lines. It is hope that this will be a subject of research in the future.
May Allah make your seeds fertile and your impact great in a way that leads to goodness, righteousness and success in this world and the hereafter, for your religion, your worldly life, and your offspring.
