I’ve gone on and on about how Leo wants to be who Splinter finds is the ideal person (which just so happens to be Splinter’s ideal version of himself) but I have yet to really touch upon how Donnie is the one who most directly parallels Splinter himself to an honestly shocking degree, Raph’s taking from Splinter’s teachings and parenting has resulted in an unhealthy mixup in the different dynamics of a family versus a team, and Mikey is the one who is simultaneously the most focused on family and the most intrinsically himself which both leads to his better grasp of mystics and honestly what just might be the healthiest dynamic with Splinter.

not to bring up mass effect but that’s one of the most interesting things it ever posited when it came to the idea of organic vs artificial intelligence. a machine, if sentient, knows who created it and why it was created. and a person will never know that. like, even lacking spirituality, even if you ascribe all this to random cause-and-effect, that doesn’t actually get you any closer to understanding why there is a you. but a robot can look their creator in the eye, can read out the whole of its purpose, and know that no matter what it modifies, this is what it was made to be. and what if it was made limited, or flawed, or shackled. there are elements of that a person can relate to, maybe understand, but not all of it, not enough to fathom how different the experience of the world is when you have no questions about your origins.

Chapter 13: Angels in the Homebase

“Grah, stupid thing!”

A foot-long cylindrical object was chucked into the air and flew into a stone wall. There was a loud CRACK, but the portal key remained unscathed. The brick it had been thrown against, however, had crumbled.

Isyris stood in the center of the living room, sweating and panting from exertion.

A small, round figure stood in the room’s archway, leaning up against the stone. Masaru silently watched with an amused smile as the sheep aggressively continued to throw, slam, and pound the key in a fit of unrestrained rage.

After a minute, he finally spoke. “Having trouble?” he asked, his smile splitting into a wide grin and voice dripping with smug delight.

Isyris jumped, startled. He had been so focused on unleashing his anger that he had not noticed the other was there. Voice nearly an octave higher, he looked away in embarrassment. “Er. Masaru—”

“Oh, would you look at that? He does know my name,” Masaru teased and approached closer.

“Do not start,” Isyris huffed. “Of course I do. It is just a habit.” He picked up the portal key once again and held it up. “What is with this thing?”

“It is in one ear and out the other with you,” Masaru grumbled. “Did you not hear what I said earlier? It is indestructible.”

A look of mild disbelief crossed the sheep’s face. “Yes, but… this indestructible?”

“Seems so.” The rat sidled up to the sheep and sat down beside him on the floor. “Have you tried anything else that I have not?”

Isyris looked down at his hands. “Can’t. All out of magic juice, I’m afraid.” He looked up at Masaru with a worried gaze. “I barely managed to get me and the kids out of the subway. Jett was too attached and was making things difficult. Had I not been able to push through it, we would have been found.”

He let out a weary sigh, looking Masaru in the eyes. “I am currently running on fumes, so to speak. I do not have much more I can give.”

i think it would be so cute for annie and zira to be pregnant at the same time. the repeated mentions of annie and finnick fucking nasty style was something i included bc 1) fucking nasty style?? in cages??? yeah, sounds about right coming from these two 2) yall can’t be surprised when we move onto the next installment of the series and annie is suddenly pregnant. like if anything it should be expected bc in any universe finnick’s pullout game is so weak

Anyway, each of the turtles have their own little creepy habits,

Leo’s got a little bit of shapeshifting and creepy eyes. His markings also shift around a lot. And sometimes the stripes on his face look like blood or tears. And sometimes he doesn’t have a face. Only the stripes remain, stretching and lifting from his face into a pair of antlers that seem to go on forever.

He also sneaks out of bed at night to search for snacks in the kitchen.

The others have their own quirks, but that’s for another time….

Rise Leo meeting the 2012 Gang except after like, less than a week he says something along the lines of ‘Man, I can’t believe that all versions of me and my brothers and our friends are queer!’ And the whole 2012 Gang FREEZES because none of them are out to each other because they just assumed they were the only gay in the group and Rise Leo was able to figure everyone out like THAT.

Cue Spider-Man pointing meme where they’re all like, “YOU’RE BISEXUAL AND YOU DIDN’T TELL ME?? WE COULD’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS ALL THIS TIME??” While Rise Leo is like “…You guys didn’t know?? Really??” Because they were all so focused on “Oh my god I’m gay… How do I come out to my family…” to notice that ALL of them are gay.

I understand to a certain extent why you'd give Hal the mind aspect, like, yeah. But Hal is Dirk. He is also the prince of heart, always had been. I know it's easy to separate the two because Hal goes by a different name, but it's not like he ever stopped being Dirk, he just has a different name and slightly altered perception of himself to fit his circumstances.
