Doctor Who Main Range: The Sirens of Time (1)

That's it. Here we are. I'm starting to catch up on old Doctor Who extended universe. Starting with this renowned story from the Main Range from Big Finish for Doctor Who.

I was expecting a lot, since I have been waiting for years to listen to this one and I wasn't even disappointed. The story is very well built. Each Doctor having his own trip before reuniting worked really well and served the plot perfectly. I was aware that this was going to be the chosen organisation but I didn't expect it to be that well coordinated. The plot is solid and the twist is not that easy to guess if you're not paying attention to the credits. Otherwise, this and the title to the audio kind of give it all.

Considering the acting, it was great of course. I cannot even begin to imagine how it must have felt for fans to hear Davison, Baker and McCoy back in 1999!

I loved this from start to finish and cannot recommend it enough.

I ABSOLUTELY ADORED this one. It was so fun seeing these three together. Perfect way to start the Audio stories. 6 and 7 being goofy with 5 being the serious one was a laugh.

Listening to Big Finish's Doctor Who Monthly Range for the first time. I've heard a handful of Big Finish audios in no particular order. Just finished The Sirens of Time and currently listening to Phantasmagoria.

I still plan to listen to select stories from other Big Finish ranges/series set in the Whoniverse. There are certain stories that I need to listen to that will help me with my fic.

The Sirens of Time

So it’s been a hot minute since I reviewed all visual Doctor Who so thought I had better put my hat into the ring of the Big Finish audios with the The Monthly Adventures (Main Range). I’ve sampled a few before so not going in completely blind. It’s lovely to hear all the classic doctors again who really do their best without seeing them. The different aspects of their personalities such as Peter’s kindness, Colin’s abrasiveness and Sylvester’s bombast do come through. The story itself was pretty blasé as came across overly complicated and silly sci fi. Didn’t mind the voice acting of the villain but it’s hard to care about any of their plan. Could’ve used some companions but pinging off each other was fine.

A scene from The Sirens of Time when they all have to jump and Five breaks his leg. I found the dialogue in this scene absolutely hilarious. I love these three and was super pumped to draw them together.

(Also remember that Five got shot and beat up earlier in this audio, so note the shoulder wound and busted lip and nose.)

It's really not great art, but I feel I've improved some since my last digital piece. Either way it was just for fun, so who cares!!!
