Doctor Who: The Sirens Of Time Review
Introduction
And here we have my first deep dive into the main range. Did it deliver? Absolutely for the most part. I'm really impressed that despite the first set of audios releasing 1999 they still hold up as decent listens. I have some Nicholas Briggs novels on my tbr so listening to Sirens Of Time was a brilliant chance to get a feel for his writing and it's a very good vibe I'm getting. This multi Doctor Story was very bold for being Big Finish's first ever Doctor Who release but the risk payed off for the most part.
It felt like the Classic Who version of Day Of The Doctor better fleshing out these three Classic Doctor's. Still on 1 in regards to my Classic Who watch but this was a really good way to get a feel for the other Doctor's and I liked how they all clashed in respective ways. Five is the nice awkward one, Six is the stubborn one and Seven is the traumatised wizard trying to hold the group together. Peter Davison, Colin Baker And Sylvester McCoy play their chemistry together really well. I also love how we got to know The Doctor's separately in single episodes before they all teamed up in the final part.
Was a bit off putting it being companionless but extra characters would have made this convoluted story even more convoluted then it already is. The sound design added to the while eiree listen and despite it being two hours long it felt like ages to listen too. Despite having not seen much off it I still could believe that I was watching an episode of Classic Who. It was tense and the cliffhangers had me on the edge of my seat. It shows me that Big Finish were definitely the right people to trust with the Doctor Who licence. Maybe I'm too generous but there haven't been any real stinkers for me yet.
So let's get on with the review....
What I Liked
As mentioned in the introduction The Sirens Of Time perfectly pays tribute to Classic Who with its structure of a full on screen story arc. It's also very brave and bold in the story it tells the listener.
I loved the aesthetic and feel of this audio. 1999 and the audio still holds up aesthetically, as with other Big Finish audios I can easily close my eyes and picture what's happening on screen. What was happening was really dark too. It's formated exactly like Classic Who and stays true to the shows style. Like I said I haven't seen much of Classic Who but through the writing you can tell how much respect Nick Briggs and the rest of the Big Finish team have for the source material. This story felt like the Classic Who version of Day Of The Doctor with the high stakes to save Galifrey and all of time itself. I also love how the full audio is split into several different parts and that it uses each part to build and introduce each Doctor before they all come together. It also means that as a result its a great jumping on point for new listeners. If your new to Big Finish and want a taster this definitely is the story to start with.
Secondly I need to praise the creativity and bravery. Doctor Who hasn't done much adult or dark content due to constraints but The Sirens Of Time goes wild and that is its strength. No confined by TV ratings. Nick Briggs and the team are able to pull off a truly fantastic time whimey story that really explores the time travel aspect of the show and the butterfly effect. Without spoilers I can say that it really expands on The Doctor's character and shows that he isn't always right. It also has a villian that's really compelling, the villians motive is really basic but the methods and means they use to get what they want is super dark and disturbing. Your on the edge of your seat the entire time praying all The Doctor's will be okay and that everything will be okay in the end.
Finally the sound design. Considering the fact that this is one of Big Finish's oldest Doctor Who audios it's really impressive how well it manages to still hold up. Released in 1999 and its still brilliantly edited together. It felt like I was watching a serial of Classic Who. I was very immersed and able to easily visualise the story in my head as I listened. The sound scapes are perfectly designed by Nicholas Briggs allowing you to feel immersed in the location, when your on Galifrey you feel like your on Galifrey. When your on a planet with quick sand, it feels like your on a deadly planet with quick sound. It's not a hundred percent perfect but it's really good for its time. It shows the potential to grow Big Finish has and it has indeed. The Sirens Of Time is worth if for the sound alone.
It's fantastic 👏 and made excited to look at other main range stories.
What I Disliked
As its the very first Doctor Who audio produced by Big Finish its not perfect but it's still very enjoyable. More like an 8/10 for me but I enjoyed it more than other people. They are more like nitpicks but still valid ones.
In two hours a lot of things happened and the set up was well done but I think it happened to rapid for me. I'm use to the normal landing place let's explore formula but instead nearly five minutes in we're head first into the action and considering the fact that it's 2 hours I wish there was room to breathe. It also would have helped if we get proper build up to Five being separated from his companions instead of it happening off audio. With 2 hours it really felt like there should have been more time to breathe with each Doctor instead of diving head first into an action packed timey whimey plot.
Another thing is that I feel while we got to explore The Doctor's flaws as a whole, the stakes were mainly high for only Five. He was a punching bag for the whole story and as a result it left no chance for Six and Seven to get their own angst defining moments. Give the timelord a break he was two other incarnations to explore. With him being the Punching Bag it kind of felt like he had nothing to do and no purpose to being there other than exposition. I still liked Five in this story though don't get me wrong.
Conclusion
Overall I'm now committing myself eventually to the main range at least the first 50 and then I I might buy some of them in the future as it seems like a reasonable good range to sink my teeth into based solely on listening to The Sirens Of Time and Phantasmagoria. I'm generally blown away and it shows the high standards that the Big Finish team have. I can't wait till I can get to the Davison, Baker and McCoy eras of the show.
I'm really getting use to this episodic format and it's really entertaining to listen too. There's definitely gonna be more intresting original villians and big plot twists to come. I only felt a little bad for what happened in the end but Sirens Of Time does a really good job at balancing showing The Doctor's strengths and flaws. It's a really decent start. I also loved exploring all the different settings despite no visuals.
I'm so excited to dig into more Big Finish next year and be blown. I plan to listen to Zagerus next year and I've heard that's weird. Every Doctor seems to have something different to offer which is absolutely thrilling.
Highly recommend giving this one a listen for free on Spotify. The first 50 main rages are on Spotify for free so do give it a go if you can't afford to buy audios.
Bonus:
On my Storygraph @melsage1823 I am doing a public listening challenge with Big Finish prompts to make my first year of listening easier and more fun. Which I might bring back next year.
Basic prompts of listening from Doctor's 5-12 excluding War and Ten. With some bonus prompts of course. Its been really entertaining filling these prompts as I go along.
Feel free to join if you want to

Until the next review whovians! 😀

Me being in dental that the reason why Big Finish hasn't announced anything about next year's Torchwood Monthlies is because No.79 is somehow related to Wild Blue Yonder.

I can't believe Big Finish was so excited to tell me they had a new email address for their newsletter on Friday that they completely failed to use it to mention one of the #1 things I actually have been checking their newsletters for updates on, which incidentally they were already announcing on their website on Friday anyway.
(Honestly I'm rather ashamed of myself for taking this long to notice it, but also what do you expect? me to check twitter more regularly?)
Anyway, if you, like me, totally missed it, apparently June's Torchwood Monthly Range release is going to be a Norton & Andy one-off that seems to be inspired by Restoration-era Farce, of all things:
Which means in two months we're getting the first Torchwood Soho-adjacent standalone since Black Knight over two years ago (which I maintain is a very good audio, though I fully understand how it was bound to disappoint specifically as a replacement for Absent Friends), and the first Norton & Andy solo adventure since Goodbye Piccadilly in 2018 (which is borderline criminal)
#torchwood soho#andy davidson#norton folgate#im thrilled#even though this is evidently not set anywhere near the actual 1950s and clearly features none of the rest of that team#or any team i suppose as it must predate the founding of torchwood lol#it'll be fun to see them both time travel to somewhere neither of them belongs tho#look i've been loving the boxsets but i've also been saying the whole soho crew needs more appearances in the monthly range#there's no reason lizbeth and gideon shouldn't have their own one-offs by now#not if queen victoria and billis and like some random oods can#the single releases are just a medium big finish does so well & there's so many things you can use them for#hell i'd be eagerly awaiting a Belle Epoch & The Stagnant Pond one off if they announced it

Theres a few of those i've been eyeing for a while.. you're seriously a miracle worker though, i really can't thank you enough for sharing everything <3
Hi, Anon!
I do! I was debating getting them for ages because I'd heard Nine's first one was a bit naff but then they really pick up after that.
Here you go
I also slid Season 1-6 and the Specials of The Lost Stories onto that one. I know you didn't ask for those, but I wanted to put them somewhere.
#doctor who#classic who#big finish#i'm still getting through the monthly range so i haven't started Ten's yet#and I've reached that point in the monthly range where it's a string of bad ones so it's a bit of a slog to get through#i've had some of Ten's ones for a while but it's like having that new show/book/game to start‚ the stars just haven't aligned

Forgotten Dates, Hurt Feelings
Feb. Request - 2
In which Spencer forgets a date night with his wife
Spencer Reid x fem!reader
Warnings: Angst, hurt feelings, fluff, mentions of sex
Y/N smiled at herself in the bathroom mirror. She had just finished getting ready for her monthly date night that Spencer promised her. She had on a tight fitted black dress, her hair was curled to perfection and she stood a whole three inches taller with her sparkly black heels. Her lips were a dark red color that she only wore on nights out with him and only him. She knew he loved the way it would look smudged by the end of the night.
When she went out with her husband and their children, she didn't go all out on what she wore because it was usually to zoos or grocery stores.
She loved her children. She really did but God, did she need someone one on one time with her husband. It was always 'mom' this and 'mom' that. They never got the chance to even complain to their father because he was always at work. And when he did come home, he never had time for her because he was spending time with his kids. But the time they were in bed, Y/N was too tired to do anything, much less do him.
The doorbell rang and she pulled down her dress a little and hurried out of her room. Her two kids were on the couch watching TV.
"Ashley's here, guys!" She told them excitedly as her heels clicked down the hallway.
She got to the door and opened it quickly. A red-haired girl in a white sweater and baggy jeans stood with a big smile on her face. "Hey, auntie Y/N!"
"Hey, sweetheart. Thank you so much for coming and watching the kids tonight." Y/N smiled, stepping out of her way and letting her in. "Spencer should be home any minute now."
"No problem! I love hanging out with my cousins."
Y/N smiled at this and walked into the living room. Her youngest was now hanging upside down on the couch with her feet in the air.
“Bo, Diane! You’re cousin Ashley is here!” She exclaimed, grabbing their attention.
Both of their eyes widened and they scrambled off of the couch, attacking Ashley’s legs.
Y/N smiled at them. “Thank you so much again for this, Ash. I really need a night out.”
“No problem! Also you look so good!”
Y/N shook her head with a smile. “Aw, thank you!” She looked down at her children. “Bed by 9? And if you can’t get them down, don’t worry about it, we’ll handle it when we get home.”
Ashley nodded.
“Okay, I’ve got to go. Spencer is meeting me at the restaurant at 7.” She smiled, walking towards the coat closet to get her jacket.
“See you after your date!” Ashley called.
Y/N excitedly slipped her coat on over her dress and left the house, grabbing her keys on the way out.
.•.•.•.•.•.
Y/N pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant, leaving the radio on so she could finish out her jam session she and Harry Styles were having.
When the song ended she smiled and looked at the clock on the screen.
7:01
She bit the inside of her cheek and looked around the parking lot for a minute before getting out and going inside.
The restaurant was busy. It was a Friday night and it was February so, she understood.
The hostess smiled at her as she walked up to the podium. “Hi there!” She beamed. “What can I do for you?”
Y/N grinned back. “Hello! My husband made a reservation under the name Reid.” She said.
“Gotcha!” The hostess said, looking down to type on her computer. Her furrowed brows made Y/N fidget with her wedding ring. “Uh… I’m not seeing a reservation under Reid. Could it be under a different one?”
Y/N but her lip. “Spencer?” She shrugged.
The woman hummed and shook her head. “Mm, I’m sorry. I’m not seeing that.”
Weird. I could have sworn I told Spencer to book two weeks ago.
“But, it’s your lucky day! I just had a table for two open up in the back area. If you want it, it’s yours.”
Y/N sighed in relief and placed a hand to her chest. “Oh my goodness, that would be great. Thank you so much!”
The hostess waved her hand and began to walk back to the table.
It was in a cute little secluded area, perfect for date night. Vines filled with flowers hung around the walls and ceiling and there were pretty fairy lights all around.
“I’m assuming you’d like to wait for your husband to start ordering?” She asked.
Y/N nodded. “Yes, thank you so much.”
The hostess nodded and walked away.
Y/N pulled out her phone and shot Spencer a quick text.
Y/N: Hey honey, are you almost here?
She slipped her phone back in her coat pocket and let her eyes explore the place a little more and did a little people watching.
.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.
Spencer pulled into his driveway, turning off the car and letting out a heavy sigh. His head fell back against the head rest.
He had a tough week. His case he worked on went terribly. All he wanted to do was spend some restful time with his family.
And if the kids were asleep, which they should have been it was almost 9, he would just curl up on the couch with a glass of wine and his beautiful wife.
He got out of the car and walked inside his home, taking his coat off and tossing his keys in the bowl, not noticing that Y/N’s weren’t there.
He walked through the hallway and into the living room where his kids sat staring at the TV, too engrossed to even notice that he was there.
He heard dishes clanking in the kitchen and the sound of running water.
So he slipped past the couch and into he kitchen where he thought he’d find his wife but instead he found his 17 year old niece in law with her back turned to him, washing dishes.
She spun around when she felt his eyes on her.
“Uncle Spencer?” She asked loudly. “What are you doing here?”
He furrowed his brows. “I live here? W-what are you doing here, Ashley?” He asked, glancing around.
“I’m watching the kids… for you and aunt Y/N…” She spoke slowly, he confusion growing. “Where is she?”
“Y/N- shit!” He gasped and checked his watch.
9:05
“Shit, shit, shit!” He cursed, a wave of realization washing over him. He was soon spinning around and rushing to the front door.
When he got the foyer, he froze. Y/N was there closing the door with a McDonald’s bag in hand. She had a sad look on her face as she tossed her keys into the bowl.
She looked up at him and gave a weak smile, walking past him into the kitchen. “Y/N, baby?” He called following her.
She set the food down on the counter when she reached the kitchen. “Mommy, daddy!” Diane screeched when she saw her parents.
She got up from the floor and quickly rushed to them. She scooped Diane up into her arms and patted Bo on the head as he hugged her legs.
“Did you guys have fun with Ashley?” She asked, widening her eyes and smiling at them.
Spencer could tell it was a fake smile.
Both kids nodded and went on and on about their time with Ashley. “I’m glad you guys had fun! But it’s time for bed, kiddos.” She kissed each of their heads and hugged them tight. She looked up at her husband. “Spence can you put them to bed? I’m starved.” She shook her head.
Spencer nodded. “O-okay.” He bent down to take Bo in one arm and took Diane from Y/N with the other and left the room, taking them upstairs.
“How were they?” She asked the girl, sitting on the bar stool and opening the McDonald’s bag.
Ten minutes later, Spencer came back down from getting the kids to bed and he sighed, glancing at Ashley and then at his wife.
“Thank you for tonight, Ash. I left some money on the key table for you.” Y/N smiled. “Bye hon.”
Ashley nodded and waved at them before leaving.
A moment of silence was over the husband and wife until Spencer spoke. “Y/N, I am so so sorry.” He said, sitting next to her.
Y/N looked over at him. “I know.” She gave him a weak smile. “I just— how did you forget? I called you eight times.”
Spencer furrowed his brows and felt his pockets and took out his phone. “Shit, it’s on silent.” He shook his head.
Y/N nodded. “And we’ve also been talking about this since… last month. You have an eidetic memory, Spencer.”
He leaned forward and placed his hands on her halfway covered thighs. “I know, baby. I— I’ve had a tough week. I’m so sorry. Let me make it up to you.” He tilted his head to the side.
“That was so embarrassing.” She shook her head. “I sat in a restaurant for an hour all dressed up. People gave me sad looks and it’s like I was in high School again getting stood up by a boy.” She looked down and placed her hands on his.
“I’m sorry you had a bad week.” She sighed. Spencer shook his head. “I shouldn’t be this upset.”
“No, honey, I’m sorry.” He said. “You’re here all day, everyday and I completely put you on the back burner and I know how much time away means to you.” He whispered. “You deserve to be mad at me.”
Y/N but her lip and stood up, Spencer did the same. “I could never stay mad.” She smiled. “Besides, we still have Valentine’s Day,” She shrugged. “And Ash will be free, so…” She slid her hands up his chest.
He looked down at her. “What if she has plans?”
Y/N smiled. “I love the girl but she’s hopeless.” She shook her head with a small chuckle.
Spencer laughed. “That’s so mean.” He told her, leaning down to peck her lips three times before giving her a long kiss.
She hummed and pulled away. “You don’t get wife-style kisses.” She shook her head. “You stood me up.”
Spencer groaned. “Have I told you how beautiful and sexy you look tonight?”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “Flattery won’t work either, Reid.”
She pulled away and spun around heading for the stairs, her heels clicking quietly. “Baby, please!” He gasped, feigning offense. “I’ll do the thing you like!” He called out. He was practically chasing her up the stairs.
“No sir.” Y/N hummed, narrowly escaping his grabby hands.
“Oh, don’t call me sir if you’re not gonna let me fu- ow!“
Y/N burst into a quiet fit of laughter as she spun and realized that her husband was so desperate that he fell up the stairs trying to get to her.

So you want to listen to Main Range?
Great! I know how intimidating it can be to try and start listening, so I’ve tried to compile a guide to the main story arcs. More under the cut (minor spoiler warning)!
Also known as the Monthly Adventures, it’s a great way to get into the DWEU and definitely one I would recommend. It is also accessible, with the first 50 stories available on Spotify, or available to buy from Big Finish or second-hand fairly easily (or, you know, via less-legitimate means).
Main Range involves stories from the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors, and various TV and original companions. If you are a fan of eighties and nineties Who, then Main Range might be for you! My general recommendations for people are to pick a specific doctor AND companion(s) to listen to and go from there. Although, if you’re looking for a first story to try, why not start at the very beginning (a very good place to start) with the Sirens of Time.
While many Main Range stories are stand-alone, there are also some overarching plots, which are actually very companion-focussed. Trying to understand these arcs and listen to them in order can be intimidating for people looking to get into listening, however its probably simpler than you’d think.
To help you out with all of this, I have done my best to write down the stories that are probably best listened to in order, with a bit of an explanation about how it fits into TV continuity if relevant. The order is pretty easy to follow as it is pretty much just in release order. No, Big Finish did not intentionally try to confuse their audience by releasing stories out of order (okay maybe they did just a little). However I have provided the story number in brackets [like so] for clarity.
Also, to be clear, all of the arcs are self-contained, so seperate arcs don't have to be listened to in the order I've written them down in, unless I've specified otherwise (like with the Evelyn and Hex storyline).
Again, it is not super important to listen to things in order. If you are getting bored with a story or with listening in order then feel free to skip things. Maybe you could just skim the Tardis Wiki page for the plot if you like. To help, I’ve also marked any of the super plot-heavy stories with an asterix. Most other stories, especially ones that I don’t mention here are standalone and can be listened to however you like.
Also feel free to let me know if I miss anything! Happy listening :)
Fifth Doctor:
The Erimem Arc
This takes place after Planet of Fire and before Caves of Androzani, and features the Fifth Doctor, Peri and an original character called Erimem - an ancient Egyptian princess. This is a pretty good arc and one I would definitely recommend. Please feel free to skip Nekromanteia though it’s genuinely terrible.
[24] The Eye of the Scorpion*
[38] The Church and the Crown
[41] Nekromanteia
[56] The Axis of Insanity
[59] The Roof of The World
[69] Three’s a Crowd
[71] The Council of Nicaea
[81] The Kingmaker
[99] Son of the Dragon
[102a] The Mind’s Eye
[104] The Bride of Peladon*
The Key 2 Time
A trilogy featuring the Fifth Doctor and an original companion called Amy which acts as a sequel to the Key to Time. It is set between Planet of Fire and Caves of Androzani. The Fifth Doctor meets Amy again in the boxset Wicked Sisters.
[117] The Judgement of Isskar
[118] The Destroyer of Delights
[119] The Chaos Pool
The Stockbridge trilogy
Featuring The Doctor and Nyssa and set in the fictional town of Stockbridge which was first introduced in the Fifth Doctor’s DWM comics. Knowledge of that is not at all essential however. Set between Time Flight and Arc of Infinity.
[127] Castle of Fear
[128] The Eternal Summer
[129] Plague of the Daleks
The Older Nyssa Arc
This is set between Enlightenment and the King’s Demons and features Tegan, Turlough and an older Nyssa - some years after the events of Terminus.
[136] Cobwebs*
[137] The Whispering Forest
[138] The Cradle of the Snake
[146] Heroes of Sontar
[147] Kiss of Death
[148] Rat Trap
[159] The Emerald Tiger
[160] The Jupiter Conjunction
[161] The Butcher of Brisbane
[172] Eldrad Must Die!
[173] The Lady of Mercia
[174] Prisoners of Fate
[195] Mistfall
[196] Equilibrium
[197] The Entropy Plague*
The Hannah Arc
A very short trilogy featuring the Doctor, Nyssa and another original companion - Hannah - an Edwardian woman. Set sometime between Time Flight and Arc of Infinity.
[185] Moonflesh
[186] Tomb Ship
[187] Masquerade
The Season 19 Gang Arc
Set during the events of Season 19, these stories feature the original gang of the Doctor, Adric, Tegan and Nyssa.
[221] The Star Men
[222] The Contingency Club
[223] Zaltys
[234] Kingdom of Lies
[235] Ghost Walk
[236] Serpent in the Silver Mask
The Kamelion Arc
There’s not much to say about this apart from that these three are probably best listened to in this order? Set between the King's Demons and the Five Doctors (i think) and featuring Tegan, Turlough and Kamelion.
[247] Devil in the Mist
[248] Black Thursday/Power Game
[249] The Kamelion Empire
The Marc Arc
These stories follow the Doctor, Tegan, Nyssa, and an original companion Marc - a man from ancient Greece. It is set sometime between the end of Arc of Infinity and Mawdryn Undead.
[256] Tartarus*
[257] Interstitial/Feast of Fear
[258] Warzone/Conversion*
[266]Ghost Station/The Bridge Master/What Lurks Down Under/The Dancing Plague
[267]Thin Time/Madquake*
Sixth Doctor:
The Evelyn Arc
One of my favourite arcs with some great stories, and maybe where things get a little confusing. This arc features the Sixth Doctor and an original companion, Evelyn - an historian from modern-day England. Set sometime before the Sixth Doctor meets Mel I think.
This arc set up some story aspects which are explored further with the Seventh Doctor’s stories - specifically, the Forge trilogy. There are a few ways you could listen to these but to keep it simple I would also recommend listening to the Seventh Doctor story the Harvest before you listen to Thicker Than Water, and then A Death in the Family once you’ve listened to all the Evelyn stories AND the Forty-Five anthology. This could also be listened to concurrently in release order with the Hex storyline which I’ll outline a bit later.
[6] The Marian Conspiracy*
[9] The Spectre of Lanyan Moor
[11] The Apocalypse Element
[22] Bloodtide
[23] Project: Twilight*
[37] The Sandman
[40] Jubilee
[43] Doctor Who and the Pirates
[45] Project: Lazarus*
[57] Arrangements for War*
[58] The Harvest (7th Doctor)*
[60] Medicinal Purposes
[73] Thicker Than Water*
[100] 100 BC/My Own Private Wolfgang/Bedtime Story/The 100 Days of the Doctor*
[143] The Crimes of Thomas Brewster
[144] The Feast of Axos
[145] Industrial Evolution
[115] Forty-Five anthology (7th Doctor)*
[140] A Death in the Family (7th Doctor)*
You can theoretically listen to the following before or after Thicker Than Water if you want - they are sort of standalone stories with the Doctor and Evelyn:
[78] Pier Pressure
[84] The Nowhere Place
[108] Assassin in the Limelight
The Charley Arc 2.0
This is best listened to once you’ve listened to the Charley Arc with the Eighth Doctor. Featuring the Sixth Doctor and Charley.
[105] The Condemned*
[111] The Doomwood Curse
[114] Brotherhood of the Daleks
[116] The Raincloud Man
[124] Patient Zero
[125] Paper Cuts
[126] Blue Forgotten Planet*
The Flip and Constance Arc
Featuring the Sixth Doctor and two original companions, Flip - a girl from modern-day England - and Constance - a woman from World War II. Set sometime before the Doctor meets Mel.
[143] The Crimes of Thomas Brewster*
[156] The Curse of Davros
[157] The Fourth Wall
[158] Wirrn Isle
[182] Antidote to Oblivion
[183] The Brood of Erys
[225] Vortex Ice/Cortex Fire
[184] Scavenger*
[204] Criss-Cross*
[205] Planet of the Rani
[206] Shield of the Jotunn
[218] Order of the Daleks
[219] Absolute Power
[273] Colony of Fear
[220] Quicksilver*
[231] The Behemoth
[232] The Middle
[233] Static
[263] Cry of the Vultriss

[265] The Lovecraft Invasion
The Older Peri trilogy
Featuring the Doctor and Peri from after she marries King Yrcanos.
[192] The Widow’s Assassin*
[193] Masters of Earth
[194] The Rani Elite
Seventh Doctor:
The Hex Arc
A great arc that sort of starts with Evelyn’s arc. I would not recommend starting this until after you’ve listened to Project: Lazarus, but maybe at least listen to The Harvest before Thicker Than Water (no stress if you don’t want to juggle listening to arcs concurrently). Features the Seventh Doctor, Ace, and an original companion from 2020s London - Hex. Set after the end of Classic Who.
[58] The Harvest*
[67] Dreamtime
[74] LIVE 34
[79] Night Thoughts
[82] The Settling
[89] No Man’s Land
[92] Nocturne
[106] The Dark Husband
[115] False Gods/Order of Simplicity/Casualties of War/The Word Lord*
[120] The Magic Mousetrap
[121] Enemy of the Daleks
[122] The Angel of Scutari*
[139] Project: Destiny*
[140] A Death in the Family*
[141] Lurkers at Sunlight’s Edge
[149] Robophobia (side note: this is our introduction to Liv Chenka who is one of the Eighth Doctor’s main companions from Dark Eyes onwards).
[151] The Doomsday Quatrain
[152] House of Blue Fire*
[162] Protect and Survive*
[163] Black and White*
[164] Gods and Monsters*
[181] Afterlife*
[189] Revenge of the Swarm
[190] Mask of Tragedy
[191] Signs and Wonders
Also at some point before or after the Angel of Scutari you can listen to the following as they are standalone stories:
[226] Shadow Planet/World Apart
[245] Muse of Fire
[268] The Flying Dutchman/Displaced
The Klein Arc
An Arc featuring The Seventh Doctor and an original character, Klein - a woman from 1940s Germany. Set after the end of Classic Who.
[25] Colditz*
[130] A Thousand Tiny Wings
[131] Klein’s Story/Survival of the Fittest
[132] The Architects of History
[175] Persuasion
[176] Starlight Robbery
[177] Daleks Among Us
Klein is also involved in the final story of the Daniel trilogy which spans the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctors.
Eighth Doctor:
The Charley Arc 1.0
The best Main Range arc in my opinion. If you listen to anything, listen to this. Featuring the Eighth Doctor and original companion Charley, with another original companion C’rizz in Part 2 of the arc.
Part 1:
[16] Storm Warning*
[17] Sword of Orion
[18] The Stones of Venice
[19] Minuet in Hell
[28] Invaders from Mars
[29] The Chimes of Midnight
[30] Seasons of Fear
[31] Embrace the Darkness
[32] The Time of the Daleks
[33] Neverland*
[50] Zagreus*
Part 2:
[52] Scherzo*
[53] The Creed of the Kromon* (TW for sexual assault in the Creed of the Kromon. Feel free to stop listening after episode one or just read the Tardis Wiki page for relevant plot info)
[54] The Natural History of Fear
[55] The Twilight Kingdom
[61] Faith Stealer
[62] The Last
[63] Caerdroia
[64] The Next Life*
[72] Terror Firma
[75] Scaredy Cat
[77] Other Lives
[80] Time Works
[83] Something Inside
[88] Memory Lane
[101] Absolution*
[103] The Girl Who Never Was*
The Mary Shelley arc
A short arc featuring the Eighth Doctor and Mary Shelley! Yes, that Mary Shelley.
[123d] Mary’s Story*
[153] The Silver Turk
[154] The Witch from the Well
[155] Army of Death
Multi-doctor arcs:
These are mostly trilogies featuring stories which Big Finish probably mostly intended to be listened to together.
The Forge trilogy
Relevant to the Evelyn and Hex arcs - best listened to in conjunction with the rest of their stories.
[23] Project: Twilight (Sixth Doctor)
[45] Project: Lazarus (Sixth Doctor/Seventh Doctor)
[139] Project: Destiny (Seventh Doctor)
The Villains Trilogy
[47] Omega (Fifth Doctor)
[48] Davros (Sixth Doctor)
[49] Master (Seventh Doctor)
The Harvest/TheReaping/The Gathering trilogy
^^^ I’m naming it that because the other name I’d give it would be a big spoiler lol (if you saw me forget the Harvest out of this no you didn’t)
[58] The Harvest (Seventh Doctor)
[86] The Reaping (Sixth Doctor)
[87] The Gathering (Fifth Doctor)
The Brewster Arc
Thomas Brewster is also vaguely relevant to the events of Stranded with the Eighth Doctor but it’s not really important.
[107] The Haunting of Thomas Brewster (Fifth Doctor)
[113] Time Reef/A Perfect World (Fifth Doctor)
[143] The Crimes of Thomas Brewster (Sixth Doctor)
[144] The Feast of Axos (Sixth Doctor)
[145] Industrial Evolution (Sixth Doctor)
The Sorsha trilogy
[165] The Burning Prince (Fifth Doctor)
[166] The Acheron Pulse (Sixth Doctor)
[167] The Shadow Heart (Seventh Doctor)
The 1963 trilogy
These don’t really have an overarching plot as far as I can remember, they were just released as part of the 50th anniversary.
[178] 1963: Fanfare for the Common Men (Fifth Doctor)
[179] 1963: The Space Race (Sixth Doctor)
[180] 1963: The Assassination Games (Seventh Doctor)
The Companions Trilogy
[198] The Defectors (Seventh Doctor)
[199] Last of the Cybermen (Sixth Doctor)
[200] The Secret History (Fifth Doctor)
The Master trilogy
[211] And You Will Obey Me (Fifth Doctor)
[212] Vampire of the Mind (Sixth Doctor)
[213] The Two Masters (Seventh Doctor)
The Daniel trilogy
[237] The Helliax Rift (Fifth Doctor)
[240] Hour of the Cybermen (Sixth Doctor)
[244] Warlock’s Cross (Seventh Doctor) (Klein is in this one if you want to listen to her arc beforehand)
Edit/addendum:
If you’re like me, you’ve maybe been intrigued by Main Range from seeing/hearing other fans talk about some of the excellent stories there are. Personally, when I am struggling getting through a series, it helps to have a specific story or episode to look forward to. As such, here are a few of my personal favourites from the above list that are definitely worth waiting for (at least in my humble opinion):
5th Doctor:
- Warzone/Conversion
6th Doctor:
- Jubilee
- Doctor Who and the Pirates
- Arrangements for War
7th Doctor:
- Afterlife
- Master
8th Doctor:
- Seasons of Fear
- Zagreus
- Scherzo
- The Natural History of Fear

4Runner Soap x f!reader hunting/chasing trope
cw: mention of firearms
4Runner Soap is a hunter. He's proficient in the detection of deer, hog, bear, wolf and the greater cats.
He has a habit of doing perimeter checks when you stake down a camping site deep in the wilderness. Trekking a three hundred meter circle around the epicenter and painstakingly scrutinizing the environment for any signs of big game or nearby predators.
You, on the other hand, generally stay behind to finish with the tented habitat provisions.
Water filter? Check. Propane cooker? Done. Chairs and portable table? Set up before he had time ask. 9mm Browning? Already on your hip.
Through years of monthly excusions and weekly trips to the range, you'd become quite adept at laying out a well executed and comforting encampment that is both fitting for your security and adequate to the needs of his militarized undertones.
Your curiosity peaked one brisk afternoon once stringing up the necessities in record time. Deciding to interject Soap's wilderness reconnaissance with a most perplexing inquiry.
"Can I join you?"
He eyes you over with a glance. A smile creeping into the corner of his mouth as he holsters his custom made 1911 pistol.
And a sudden flame ignites in the blue of his eyes as he contemplates your inclusion to come along.
"Aye," he answers lowly. Maintaining his composure with a steady brow.
"Be good fer ya to get acclimated with the terrain, bonnie. Learn the ways of the bush an' all."
You answer with a smile of your own. Content and relieved with his comfort for you to tag along.
Your lips then quietly part to express your gratitude. But the words disappear on your tongue as he leans in and whispers with a tantalizing bite into your ear.
"Besides. Never know when yer gonnae need ta hol' up in a tree if a wolf be huntin' ya."

A question for the Torchwood fandom: what are your favourite Big Finish releases from the past couple of years? I fell behind on the audio dramas a couple of years back and am hoping to get back into them. Feel free to recommend things from beyond the monthly range (i.e., Torchwood One, Soho, or Among Us).
#if it helps‚ my favourite characters are tosh and ianto. i also love norton#disco intrigues me. the name and cover art draw me in‚ but is it actually good?#or rather. is it actually good and/or fun?#torchwood#big finish#original post

The Doctor, Charley and C'rizz are trapped in Victorian London when the TARDIS disappears and have to find ways to survive until it returns in Other Lives. #DoctorWho #DrWho #BigFinish #OtherLives #EighthDoctor #PaulMcGann #Review #Audio
Have you seen the bloody monumental column in Trafalgar Square? Horatio’s taller than the rest of us!The Duke of Wellington Synopsis London, 1851. Scene of the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations. Scene also of a plot to un-seat the government, de-throne the monarch and start a republic. Hey guys! I'm putting out a call for my commissions again for two big reasons: One, Emergencies have caused me to be low on funds when I wasn't expecting it, and that kind of sucks actually. Two, I have a project that I've been dreaming about for years but have actually been able to start working towards in the last couple of months, but to finish it I need to not be living paycheck to paycheck for like a month at the very least, which brings me back to point one :(. I will talk more about the big project under the cut, bc I think it's something you all might really enjoy!
But for now, I will link my commission sheet: Here (It's also my pinned post)
And my new Ko-fi!: Here for if you just want to donate, which would be literally incredible and I would owe you my soul actually.
Ok now for big Project Time!!!
I am in the process of editing and revising my first Youtube video! This has been an on and off dream of mine for like 7 years at this point, but I've finally taken the plunge and gotten to work on a channel. I wanna talk about all sorts of fandoms (including the riordanverse ofc) With videos ranging from plot and character analysis, to trends in fandom culture in general, to fun little ranking videos and speedpaints. All around, I just want the channel to be a fandom hive, where everyone can find something they enjoy.
I already have PNG's created of my sona to use as assets (And I have a sparkly new sona, the one in the pic above!) and I have two finished scripts, with the first one being fully recorded as well! One for my first video, which will be a retrospective on Gravity Falls, and one for a video about the Percy Jackson TV show, the inherent differences between TV and books as mediums, how I think the TV show could improve, and the things I think it got perfectly. I also have a bunch more ideas, such as:
BIG Trials of Apollo video essay, with a focus on how the books and the fandom have effected me over the years.
Ranking all of my favorite characters from all of the media I've been a fan of over the years (This would be over 70 characters)
Explaining the Iliad, but make it funny (with a side of Troy apologia)
Reading Lore Olympus and pointing out how it deviates from myth (the things I'm willing to do for you people /j)
Canon vs. Fanon, where I compare a characters canon characterization with their fanon counterpart and try to figure out how things turned out the way they did.
And more, but I don't want this post to be 5000 words long.
Now here's the big question. As I said in the part above, I'm struggling a bit now money-wise. And I really wanna make this project work, but there's also, you know. Tuition. Rent. Food. Stupid other adult stuff. So if anyone is amenable (and this is totally up to demand, I don't wanna pressure anyone into doing anything!) I was also thinking of maybe making a Patreon. Now, I'd have to do research for this, bc I wanna make sure anyone who signed up would get the right rewards and really get the bang for their buck. I'm pretty sure there's not gonna be much interest in this rn, cuz like, I'm not that big of a blog oof. But if anyone is interested! Here are some of the perks I would definitely be implementing! (sry it's another list)
Early access to videos, and behind the scenes looks at art assets and video creation
the ability to request topics for videos
Patrons names being shown in the videos. And higher tiered patrons getting custom chibis that will be shown in videos as well (and given to the patrons obv)
This ones a bit complicated, but I want to create a cover of a song that has to do with each video to play during their outros. So like, for the gravity falls video, I'm gonna record a quick cover of the Disco Girl song from the show. Only a small section of the song would be in each video, but patrons would get access to the full covers, and be able to request songs to be covered.
Discounts on commissions
A monthly speedpaint that would be exclusive to patreon. Patrons would be able to vote on what the drawing would be.
All of these ideas I'm 100% sure I want to add to a patreon if I make one, but obv there could be more that comes up later. I'm just gauging interest on this idea rn, so let me know if that's something you'd be down to sign up for! Maybe I'm jumping the gun here but I'm just really excited to create and give back to the community and aaahhhhh
Now, no matter what, I'm gonna have this first video out by mid-September at the latest. Because stupid money troubles are not gonna stop me from making this a thing dangit. So look out for that, I'll link the vid here when it releases! But I am just really stressed rn and any support would go a long way towards making this dream come true. And on that note, one more sappy real talk if I am allowed it?
If you've read this far, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. This community and fandom is truly incredible. My blog is about to reach 5 years old, and I've never seen a group of people so accepting and creative and just fun to be around. You guys have truly changed my life, and I wouldn't have the courage to try for this if I didn't have the support you've given me. I know this is super dramatic for just trying to make a youtube channel, but making a place where I could just talk about all the nerdy and overly specific things I care about and share them with the world is something I've wanted for my whole life. You guys gave me that with this blog, and if this channel works out, it'll be thanks to you, so you'll have given it to me twice. I don't have the words to express how much I love this community and all the incredible people in it. So even if you can't support, just know that being here for however long you have been, whether it's the whole five years or the last two days, has done more than you'll ever know. You guys are the best, thank you for everything <3
#sunny speaks#apollart#long post#commissions#trials of apollo#toa apollo#lester papadopoulos#sry for the tags I just want to reach everybody in the audience#writing this got me so in my feels oml#shut up sunny#also I hope you guys like the new sona I wanted to change it up a bit#I got a mask now >:)#I always feel weird about posting about commissions and stuff bc I feel like i'm begging#Like I know I'm providing a service it's just ughhhh#But! Big plans mean big things to give to you guys to enjoy! And that's what I'm excited about!

For those who don't know, Big Finish completely redid their website and app back on the July 30th and ever since then it has been completely fucked. They have been trying to fix it, it's got better, but it's not there yet. And I'm pretty sure it has caused all upcoming release to be delayed. For example, Touchwood Monthly range End Game, which was meant to be out on the 8th, has yet to come out.
