Buck (and Eddie) mini meta - 7x10 (probably but could also be 7x09!)
I was going to make a quick post about this new shirt we have bts pictures of Buck and Eddie wearing - but well, I spiralled and it turned into this!! (under the cut to save your dash!)
So let's do Eddie first shall we!!
there are actually two shirts we've got bts of Eddie wearing which have me 👀👀👀
first up is this green number we have bts of him wearing at the firehouse (not 100% sure if this is an actual costume or just Ryan's clothes but I'm fairly sure it's an Eddie outfit!)
Why am I side eyeing so hard at this do you ask? well its a very similar shirt to the one we have seen him in before - in 5x13 when he has his break down. Its not the same, but similar - no cut off sleeves, but its the same army green.
We see this tee at he culmination of Eddie isolating himself from the fire fam (especially Buck) through the start of 5b and then blowing up his life in 5x13 - when he trashes his room and Chris calls Buck.
I think we're about to see something similar play out in the last couple of episodes of season 7 - Eddie increasingly choosing to isolate himself from the fire fam (especially Buck) as he spirals out with this vertigo arc. Ryan has said in interviews that Eddie will be isolated by the end of the season, this costume therefore parallels Eddies arc of 5b - especially if we include the use of white on Eddie as well (and Buck in Blue in the same scene!). Eddie does something drastic and then pretends everything is ok - before proceeding to spiral out and blow up his life in some way.
5x11 - we have the aftermath of Eddie leaving he 118 - dinner with Buck and Taylor when he and Buck have a mini disagreement about Eddie coming back to work - which is preceeded by us being shown how Eddie is not actually ok - leading in to 5x13 when Eddie has his breakdown whilst wearing an army green tee and Buck breaks down the door to get to him and literally steps in to the mess, bringing the 118 into help as well (represented by Bobby being there when Eddie wakes up).
Then we have season 7 - the aftermath of Eddie asking Marisol to move in with him and then it is made clear that Eddie has moved too fast, that he doesn't actually know Marisol, or ultimately feel comfortable with the relationship - and now we've watched him (still in white in the scene where he sees Kim) spiralling out and heading towards isolating himself in the same way he did in season 5. The use of a similar army green tee in 7x10 suggests that we're going to see something similar unfold as things come to a head in the vertigo arc. Im especially intrigued because Buck it seems is going to be in uniform for the scene (which side note plays into the Buck and Eddie blue green colour palette they've been using and in a reverse of the gym scene from 7x05!) we don't know where in the episode this scene falls, but my guess would be that its actually a scene from earlier in the episode - allowing for the blow up to happen and the fall out begin. (I also think this because of Helena and Ramon appearing - which I think will be later in the episode and in response to Kim's existence being more widely known about, but thats just me speculating!)
We do also have the t-shirt from 7x01 - which is not the same as the other two - its darker and more brownish than the two above, but it does play into a similar narrative - Eddie finding out about Chris and his multiple girlfriends and Buck stepping in (at Eddies request this time) to help and support the Diaz boys!
Eddie outfit two!
Then we have this outfit - which is contrary to popular belief, not the will reveal outfit, but actually the Ana as Eddies girlfriend reveal to Chris outfit.
The two outfits are very similar, but the will reveal outfit is a navy blue shirt (which is important as it plays into both blue/green and blue/yellow theory - which gains even more significance now we know that it is likely this was meant to be the beginning of at the very least a queer narrative for Buck and the implication is that it would've been the beginning of buddie canon) this shirt and the Ana reveal shirt are both black and have silver eyelets on the shirt opening
For me, the fact that it is the same outfit as that reveal rather than the will reveal is suggestive that this outfit is in some way going to be connected to the reveal of Kim. In the same way that the Ana reveal outfit is connected to two scenes
- Eddie telling Chris and the salad bowl getting smashed,
- Eddie realising Chris has gone missing only to find out he's run to Buck's
I feel like this one is also likely to be connected to two scenes - what they are and where this hospital scene fits within the wider episode, it is hard to fully form ideas on the full meaning behind the fact that he is wearing the same outfit. Because does this scene come before or after the arrival of Helena and Ramon, what is the connection to Bobby being in the hospital and Eddie wearing this outfit? My personal opiion is that this outfit is going to be involved in people finding out about Kim.
As an addition to this, we should also talk about the fact that Eddie always wears black in relation to key scenes with Marisol and Kim and it continues a trend of Eddie wearing black in key scenes in relation to his relationships.
When Eddie and Marisol meet at the hardware store he is in black, when asking her to move back out, black shirt. Then with Kim -both scenes with her when he talks to her he is in black - black shirt in the store and a black jacket when they go on their date.
He was also wearing Black in key moments with Shannon (divorce request scene as well as in flashbacks) and with Ana ( first meeting and panic attack scenes). I've spoken before about the choice to put him in a black singlet when he's in an emotionally vulnerable place, but with these additional scenes in mind, as well as the fact that we see him wearing black in the hospital during Bucks coma, as well as the fact we also get a similar shirt on Eddie back in 7x01.
I think its fair to associate black more generally with Eddie being in a vulnerable place emotionally - the singlets are just worn at points when those vulnerable moments are about to tip Eddie into something stupid and this makes the use of the singlet in 7x04 for the basketball game even more interesting as it places Eddie into emotional vulnerability around Bucks bi journey and less about Bucks own emotional vulnerability - plays a little into the idea that they were going to have Eddies queer journey come before Bucks!
From a purely speculative position - my feeling is that this outfit comes after the arrival of Helena and Ramon and possibly towards the end of the episode.
The fact Eddie is wearing it at the hospital is possibly important, but I get the feeling it will be an outfit with more than one key scene attached to it (much like Eddie being in a black shirt when Buck came out to him was in two key scenes - Bucks coming out and Eddie asking Marisol to move out).
In the same way that in season 4 the Ana reveal was paired with a scene where Chris runs to Buck my feeling is that we're going to see something similar in season 7 with this - further adding to the parallels between the two seasons (see this excellent post by @iinryer for more on those!).
Part of my thinking comes from the fact we had this other bts of Buck, Eddie, Chris and Helena and Ramon. So we know that Eddie will be wearing a maroon henley for a scene in this episode.
I've spoken about Eddie wearing maroon long sleeved tops in relation to things being about Chris and Eddie parenting, and this one is likely to follow that theme, especially with Chis seemingly wearing the same outfit he was wearing when the fact he had multiple girlfriends was revealed.
The fact that buck is in a reverse outfit to the one from his discussion with Chris after that reveal (navy blue bottoms and yellow ochre top v yellow ochre bottoms and navy blue top), suggests to me that the are trying to do a couple of things here - they are flipping the scene - so it is still about a multiple girlfriends reveal, just Eddies rather than Christophers. It is also possibly a way to contrast the fact they set up Buck as sitting in parallel to Shannon (from both a costuming and directorial perspective), now they are reversing it and setting them in juxtaposition with one another - playing on the concept of one being alive while the other is dead and contrasting the actual reality of Eddies life with Eddies rose tinted version of things - the version he's trying to recreate with a doppelgänger.
Onto Buck
The shirt that changes colour depending on which picture you look at - is it brown and cream or dark greyish brown and blue/grey?!!
My personal feeling is that it will look more brown and cream on camera, but that we might see a little bit of the blue pinstripe come through! This means we need to not only look at Buck in pinstripes, but also when he has worn brown!
So lets look at when we've seen Buck wear brown!
We have 2x05 - a scene where Maddie is ranting about Gloria calling her constantly. In this scene Buck is in a brown marl tee (you'll have to take my word for it - I ran out of pictures and this one was the least important!), personally I don't think it fits into the narrative as it is a tee rather than a shirt or jacket, so I'm not including it in my wider anaylsis!
We get Brown sports jacket Buck - in 3x04 when he delivers the results of the 118's assessment and discovers Lena filing his space - Buck gets jealous and a little mad. (had to include the still where Edie is checking out Bucks ass because it will never not be funny and now has the added layers to it`!)
one episode later and we get more brown in the divorced buddie era 1.0 supermarket arguement of 3x05.
Things go quiet on the brown front for Buck until 4x14 and the 'it would've been better if it had been me who got shot' scene - this is is a borderline brown - it sits in the yellow ochre spectrum, but is closer to brown than yellow! This, like the last tine he wore brown, comes in the aftermath of Buck doing something stupid (climbing the crane)
Then Buck doesn't wear any brown in season 5, so its on to season 6 where we have 6x04 and this russet brown (which is a reddish brown) which Buck wears when Connor pays him a visit regarding the sperm donation.
Then later in the same season - 6x18 - we have the most recent Buck in brown sighting - when he is talking to Connor once more about Kameron being at his loft. with the added bonus of this being veritcally ribbed making it look like stripes!
As you can see we only see Buck wear brown in very specific moments and they tend to come in pairs - we get bright russety browns in the build up to Buck doing something stupid followed by a darker more muddy brown in the aftermath (in both s2 and s6). Only the one from season 4 doesn't fit the pattern as it doesn't have a pair.
But while events in seasons 3 and six are essentially of Bucks making - he sets things in motion - season 4 is not - Buck is not the instigator, he is a bystander dropped into the middle of something, if anything the fact his brown has yellowish undertones plays into its having a reverse effect - that it is the same as the russet browns - setting something in motion, but its pair is the brighter yellow ochre shirt from the will reveal - which sits in opposition to the darker browns - its not something Buck needs or wants to try and fix - its more of an affirmation of Bucks belonging and not something he needs to fight for.
I've spoken before in various meta's about brown being a colour of stability support and protection. it is also a colour of wisdom and counsel - and I think all of these will come into play with this new shirt in some capacity, because to put Buck in brown at this point is definitely a choice with intention behind it.
Now onto Buck in vertical stripes!
We'll do the light ones first. It's still insane to me that the first time we ever see Buck in vertical stripes is the shooting scene in 4x13.
Then ten episodes later, in 5x13 we see the next white striped shirt and its when Taylor is moving into the loft. These are the only two we have in a white and black/grey colour way.
The next time we see light stripes is in 6x01 - only now they are cream and blue rather than white and black/grey - when Buck moves his armchair and decides he doesn't need a couch .
Followed by 6x08 when Buck is in Uncle Buck mode and looking after Jee and being given the run around by her - again cream and blue.
The last Buck in light shirts with stripes sighting is from 7x05 - when he meets with Tommy for coffee, this time its cream with black and red stripes.
Then we have a couple of outliers - this light blue jacket from 6x01
and this grey one from 6x09
Then we have the dark ones!
This one from 4x14 when Taylor appears back on his doorstep after the shooting and kissing him
This one from 5x09 - the most awkward 'I love you' scene in the history of mankind
6x04 when he tells Conor and Kameron that he will be their sperm donor
in 6x07 we get two - both when he is trying to donate sperm and not being successful in this endeavour
in 6x17 we see him in this shirt when Maddie comes by for help with getting her stuck engagement ring off
and finally we have Buck and Tommys first date - which ends in failure.
and now we have a brown and cream/blue one joining the mix!
I've written before about Bucks vertically striped shirts - in various episode metas, as well as a separate post which is linked on my pinned post under Buck, But I'm going to talk about them again because he just keeps on wearing them at really interesting moments!
Buck seems to wear them at moments when he is essentially ‘imprisoned’ by something mentally - at moments when he either steps forwards or backwards in his self development, or stays in stasis - and which of these it is, is determined by the colour of the shirt and the stripes. The lighter ones are connected to moving forward and ultimately escaping, while the darker ones are about Buck being trapped and moving in the wrong direction.
Starting with the white shirts - I know on the face of it, it isn't easy to see either of the white shirts with black pinstripes as Buck moving forward, but while the scenes they are worn in themselves may not seem to be freeing, the resulting actions - the will reveal for the first one and the second one reveals Bucks true thoughts on his and Taylors relationship and thus marks the beginning of the end, I mean obviously the kiss is the actual moment that marks the beginning of the end but this moment - when he is talking to Maddie, the audience is made aware that Buck really and truly isn't all in with Taylor and that he has imprisoned himself - his ability to recognise that - the fact he is able to verbalise that he is afraid of being left - that is the moment of growth and escape for him.
The unhappy moments, the moments when he is regressing or clinging are signified by the black shirts with white or silver pinstripes.
With Taylor the two scenes we get black shirts with pinstripes are connected to Buck being in trauma response mode - the first in the aftermath of the shooting - starting a relationship when he's in a super raw place - his best friend has been shot and he's looking after said best friends son and climbing cranes to try and protect the rest of his found family (also adding Maddie's impending PPD to this as well as the Daniel of it all although those are less central in this moment in time).
Then the second one comes in the 'I kinda love you for it' scene - and off the back of Buck feeling and fearing that he is being left - that Taylor is pulling away from him.
The three all connected to the sperm donation all play into the narrative that Buck hasn't thought the sperm donation through fully - that the universe is screaming at him and he's trapping himself in a prison - we do see some of that play out as the season progresses when he becomes embroiled in Conor and Kameron's marriage and pregnancy dramas when his part in it all should've been done.
The scene with the stuck ring is a scene very much about Maddie but Buck does drop himself in it on two fronts - the ring cutter and in letting Maddie know that Hen and Chim had an arguement over Chim proposing to Maddie.
Buck and Tommys first date - again a prison of Bucks own making - this shirt very much plays into the disastrous nature of the date - with Bucks 'I'm and Ally' and comment about going to 'find chicks'
Then we have the shirts that somewhere in the middle. - the blue one from 6x01 where we have a Buck doing some mental self torture trying to work out why he’s been passed over for the interim Captain job but finally figuring it out,
The three cream ones are all essentially the cure for the previous, darker stripes - they play into the idea that Buck is learning and growing - in a way he wasn't when it was just black and white shirts and stripes from seasons 4 and 5 when we got a white shirt followed soon after by a black shirt (4x13 - White - 4x14 - black) or vice versa (5x09 - black - 5x13 - white).
We have 6x01 with the blue then cream - Buck in a mental prison around what he wants in life, but choosing to embrace being on his own and seeing where life takes him by the end of the episode. 6x04 and 6x07's navy blues connected to the sperm donation arc followed by 6x08's cream and blue one of the very real children in his life - one who he gets to be an active part of watching grow up. 7x04's navy date shirt one followed by 7x05's cream, black and red shirt when Buck requests and is granted a do over with Tommy
So how is this brown and cream one going to fit in? Well that is the million $$$$ question isn't it! My feelings are that it's going to fit in with the pattern and have a reverse one to go with it. Now I have two theories - the first is that its actually the brown pair to the one from season 4 - that its going to connect into Buck's statement that it would've been better for Chris if he'd been the one hurt - and therefore connect into the will of it all, playing on the concept of Chris (and Buck) finding out about Kim - connecting Eddies outfit into the equation - and lead to Buck once again stepping up to look after or support Chris in some capacity (maybe we'll get a parallel of Chris running to Buck after finding out about Ana and have Chris running to Buck after finding out about Kim, who knows!).
The other option is that we'll only see the pair to this brown striped shirt later down the line - whether we see that before the end of the season or have to wait for the start of season 8 I do't know - it really depends on how they close out this season and the Buck and Eddie arcs.
I'd like to think the fact that its brown and therefore means stability, support, protection and wisdom, means that it will be connected to Buck discovering Eddies cheating and then stepping up to support him and Chris through the fall out (after perhaps taking a moment to consider things) and that it is tied into the season 4 parallels, but I guess we'll all have to wait and see!
Essentially all of Bucks striped and or brown tops have a pair and play on the idea of light and dark to varying degrees as well as the concept of being trapped or imprisoned by some form of traumatic event.

Alright here goes. Buddie and BuckTommy.
I’ll start off by saying, I’m very very neutral on BuckTommy. I am happy Buck is bisexual. I just don’t see what fans of BuckTommy sees and that’s ok. But I am gonna tag it anti BuckTommy because my God I don’t want any hate. That being said, I am and always will be a Buddie shipper.
I also just finished my rewatch of season 5 and gasp, I found out that BuckTaylor wasn’t as bad as I thought it was then. EddieAna was *checks notes* just boring. Anyways, let’s get thoughts written down about what I expect the first three episodes will bring Eddie and Buck.
The first time I read this paragraph, I rubbed my hands together in glee because of angst. When was the last time Buck and Eddie were apart where Buck doesn’t see or have time for Eddie?
If you say season 5, I would say no. Even when Eddie left the 118, Buck was still in touch with Eddie. He had dinner with him and yes, Buck also imploded without Eddie there, they were still Buck and Eddie in 5B.
I think season 3 and the lawsuit was the last time where Eddie couldn’t reach out to Buck. And it seems like maybe this could be the case here. It would great to see Eddie and Buck figure out why they are miserable if they can’t see each other.
Onto BuckTommy. It seems like not much time has passed and this means… Buck and Tommy are still getting to know each other.
However, the word comfortable doesn’t sit right with me. Yes they are a couple but getting comfortable is like when you cat finally gets comfortable in a new setting and starts doing cats things.
Buck, by his definition, is a settler. When his life is in upheaval, like Maddie and Chim leaving and Eddie leaving the 118, he doubles down and settles. It’s those pesky abandonment issues rearing up again.
I think the same is true here. This time, his surrogate dad isn’t there and an asshole takes his place and causing Buck’s world view of the 118 to go sideways. Bobby, for the most part, has been the most consistent things throughout the years for Buck. So replacing Bobby with Gerrard is going to make Buck’s issue more prevalent than they were in season 6 and 7.
We also have the emotional upheaval of Chris leaving. I say this because if there has also been one consistent thing in the past 6 years is that Chris is always there. They have their own special relationship outside of Buck and Eddie. Chris leaving also affects Buck, not as much as Eddie but still makes him feel enough to settle.
Getting comfortable means Buck is going to be like well, these other aspects suck and maybe this could go somewhere.
And then there is Eddie. The Eddie of it all. Buck has always lost it when something happens to Eddie. This time, it isn’t Taylor but a man. A man that by all means friends with Eddie first.
It will interesting to see how Buck juggles Tommy and Eddie and if he realizes that he pulled away from Eddie unintentionally. Mirroring the lawsuit maybe. I do think Eddie is going to be a sore point in the BuckTommy relationship and it should be.
Buck’s entire coming out was centered around Eddie. Tommy was Eddie’s friends, Buck felt bad about lying to Eddie and came out intentionally to Eddie. Then they partied together like it was 1995. Then Eddie blew up his own life and Buck was there to see it happen.
The other thing that could come between Buck and Tommy is Gerrard. I don’t know if Tommy is gonna be like keep your head down, don’t make waves, which I think might be the case. This would make Buck very unhappy and act out a little more. And Eddie can’t really be the emotional support he would need because well.. Eddie is suffering too.
Anyways, the question was about BuckTommy and Tim went oh hey here’s how Eddie is gonna be affected! Tim is Eddieblr. He loves him just as much even if he did come up with than damn doppelgänger story line.
And now it’s time to delve into my favorite character, one Mr. Eddie Diaz.
Oh Eddie, my beautiful, guilt ridden mess of a man. How are you going to be dealing with all of this? First and foremost, his son, his good luck charm decided to leave with his parents. Who should have asked if Eddie needed help too instead of absconding with their grandson.
Yes Eddie is gonna be reeling from this. He has lived most of his adult life for his son, not for himself. Season 5 kinda dipped into this and started him on this journey but he never really dealt with… you guessed it the Shannon of it all.
I’m kinda excited to see Eddie figuring who he is without Chris around. We love the Diaz boys but Eddie deserves to be like “Who am I without these people? If I wasn’t a father, what would my life look like?”
I also think it’s important for Eddie to this out without Buck. He leans on Buck a lot especially when he’s in emotional turmoil. And he can’t hide behind his son either.
Buck having less time for him means Eddie is flailing around and it also seems like the mustache is part of this self discovery.
Maybe he follows Chim and Hen’s lead with Gerrard but then realizes Buck needs the backup. I want to see Eddie really pushing the boundaries with Gerrard after a few weeks when he starts going after Buck.
Petty, jealous Eddie is one of my favorite things about him. And I do see this side of him coming out around Buck and Tommy. It will entertaining to watch.
I do hope that eventually we do have Chris ready to start talking things through with Eddie and that his dad isn’t this perfect man but a man who has repressed so many emotions in his life.
That being said, the above quote about figuring out who the hell he is with everything stripped away is very queer coded and I hope we finally see the Eddie we know is there come out and shine.
To summarize, I don’t think BuckTommy will last and I think we may have some hints as to why Eddie could be feeling jealous of Tommy and not any other love interests Buck has had.
One can only hope.

Buddie 609 meta
This ep gave us our battlefield boyfriends in full swing again, and I love that for us! First off, there’s the way they showed up on the scene. Bobby steps in with Buck on one side and Eddie on the other. It looks like they’ve just arrived, but Chim and Hen already inspecting the hand lets us know that nope, they chose to split like that, which means that when Bobby turns around to start the search for the owner of the hand, we get a shot of Buck and Eddie together, following him. Then we also have them specifically exchanging exasperated looks while going door to door, as well as when listening to a dumb teenager explaining why he didn’t call 911, and a shot of them together reporting back to Bobby, even though we know the whole team was a part of the search and standing there together.
Then there’s the way Buck announces “Not it!” when it’s clear someone’s going to have to run after that teenager. Even though, once again, the entire 118′s there, and without another word being spoken, Eddie knows right away that this means he’s it, and starts giving chase. They’re literally their own team within the greater group. Which gets reinforced during the wildfire call, when we see Buck and Eddie being paired up and moving together like a well oiled machine, plus when they’re all on the roof, and it’s clear who the empty chair next to Eddie has been for, not to mention how he passes on the mug once Buck takes his seat. Such a good husband!
~~ But speaking of the Buddie connection and the way they’re each other’s life partners, I had to laugh out loud at the way the conference call went down. Buck knows Chim is awake from the messages about the house, so he calls his brother-in-law. Hen’s already on the line. Buck doesn’t know whether Eddie’s awake. We will later hear him hesitate about calling Bobby by wondering whether their captain is asleep or not. But since Chim and Hen are there, who cares if Buck’s call will wake Eddie up? He NEEDS to share his news, which means he NEEDS to have Eddie there. Hen was right when talking to Karen about this couple dynamic back in 317, Buck invites Eddie. Always. ~~
I have to admit, I found it so weird that Hen was talking to Eddie about Denny’s questions regarding his bio mom, but not to Buck. He’s the most obvious one, given how he talked to her about his doubts regarding the sperm donation in 604. He’s also the one who really needs to hear this and understand what it means, having a bio kid that you don’t end up raising, how it’s not this thing that ever goes away, nor is the child your own. It’s this in-between space that Buck is clearly having a hard time with. He’s not properly had a talk with Eddie about it, at least not on screen, which is already telling. Some of the most meaningful insights Buddie have had on the show came from talking to each other. Based on Eddie’s reaction to Buck’s news in this ep (his facial expression, saying it feels weird to congratulate Buck on this news), we can tell Eddie doesn’t seem to approve. It reminds me a bit of some of his reactions to Taylor. He didn’t tell Buck explicitly, “You shouldn’t be dating this woman,” he mostly didn’t comment at all or indicated through non-verbal cues that he does not approve. So there’s a pattern here of how Buddie conduct themselves when Buck is clearly doing something that’s not good for him, but neither one of them acknowledges it out loud.
Add to all of this the way Buck broke the news to his friends (no, sweetheart, you’re not about to be a dad) and that firefighter onesie he got for the baby (oh, hon! You’re all heart! And you misunderstood the assignment), and he’s clearly setting himself up for regret in 6b. I just hope we get to see Eddie being there to help mend him, like Buck was there for him in 5b. ~~
The naked lady in the car… So I have to admit I initially went back and forth on whether it was meaningful that the only ones to cover their eyes were Buck and Eddie. I mean, technically, they’re also the only two single characters, so it’s maybe a bit expected on the part of the show, to signal beyond doubt to the viewers that these guys are not creeps. Bobby and Chim aren’t just excused by being married, they also have practical things they are doing in that situation, with Bobby being the captain, assessing what’s going on and giving orders, while Chim is physically checking up on her state. But then we have Hen rushing in.
Hen, who is canonically attracted to women, and who runs into this when the naked lady is outside the car, just like Buck did. While his immediate reaction (much like Eddie) was to look away AND hold up a hand to hide the sight, Hen doesn’t do that (despite getting much closer to the naked lady). Also, at that point, Bobby and Chim are no longer being useful in any way, but they still don’t dramatically cover or avert their eyes. And married or not, they are men who canonically are attracted to women, like Hen, meaning it would have been appropriate for them to cover their eyes at some point as well. So yes, I think we get to snicker a little bit about how uninterested in naked women these choices make Buddie appear… It’s only made more hilarious by that little reaction Eddie has to Buck’s question. First, it’s probably significant that our former womanizer clearly didn’t ask this in order to get any salacious details, he’s just being a moron. Second, there’s a naked lady around, and still the focus of Eddie’s attention is Buck being a dumbass (not to mention how he will later, on the roof, tease Buck about preferring the car to drive into the building announced). I love one himbo and his exasperated husband. ~~
There’s something about the theme of lack of sleep in this ep. It’s of course a clear parallel to Eddie not being able to sleep in 511, reminding us that this is about more than just strange winds momentarily blowing through the city. When Hen is talking about Denny’s questions to Eddie, Buck’s absence is explained by him being the only one able to sleep, but after the incident where the naked lady drives into the fire station, he can’t either.
Yet, by the end of the ep, they’re all asleep. All, but Bobby. His shot at the start of the ep actually represents where he’s at the end of it. I do love how the order of the team being shot in their sleep goes from Eddie, to Buck, then to the married couples.
But it’s Bobby’s opening narrative which frames the whole theme of people sleeping peacefully, without realizing what’s in store for them, how close they actually are to the edge. “A reckoning may be upon us.” We’re aware this is true for Henren who don’t know what their child is up to, we’re aware of this for Buck who’s clearly already more emotionally invested in Connor and Kameron’s kid than he should be, we can deduce there’s something in store for the others as well. Season 6b is going to be a wind that is going to blow through this peaceful slumber and bring on the drama. Are you ready? Hold tight!

Why do you think this interview is happening?
As the entire Dubai storyline is new, we just don't know where it's all heading, but I'm utterly fascinated!!
There are so many amazing theories! I've summarised my favs below:
THEORY 1: - The interview is for Armand/Daniel
This theory argues that Armand and Daniel's relationship will mirror the books. In the books, Armand was obsessed with Daniel (stalked him for years), then they were a couple for 8 years before Armand turned him. Armand desperately didn't want to, but Daniel was dying (substance abuse) - it was turn him or lose him.
This theory suggests that in the show Armand wiped Daniel's memories years ago, but still loves him. He has been tracking him closely, and upon finding out that he's dying, he freaks out.
He can't stand losing him, so, he has Louis repeat the interview (to reproduce the process that originally brought Daniel to him). He pretended to be human so Daniel had the opportunity to connect with him as an equal, a proper companion (like how Lestat hid his Cloud Gift from Louis).
THEORY 2: - General Vampire Unrest
This theory argues that there is unrest in the Vampire world and that the interview is about provoking Lestat into finding them. This suggests that Dubai storyline takes place either before 'Prince Lestat' or 'The Vampire Lestat', and that they are trying to get him to come to Dubai to help them sort out the unrest (as in the beginning of 'Prince Lestat'). Basically, Daniel's book is like Benji's radio station, begging Lestat to come to them.
THEORY 3: - 'The Groan' is Those Who Must Be Kept
This theory argues that 'The Groan' we hear many times throughout the Dubai scenes is Those Who Must Be Kept waking up. That's a HUGE problem because they would enslave the human and vampire races. (Possibly, the apartment in Dubai is Marius's house - It is his painting is on the wall).
They need Lestat's help to pacify/deal with them, so the interview is a way to get his attention. Also, we know Lestat has already met them before (he mentions this in episode 6) so it's canon that he knows them.
THEORY 4 :- 'The Groan' is Lestat
This theory argues that the show takes place after Memnoch and that it's Lestat groaning in despair. This supposes that (some of) the events of TVL, QOTD and ToTBT have already happened. At this point in the books, Lestat is semi-catatonic, but wakes up to save Louis when he attempts suicide. Earlier, he also helps Armand by culling a huge amount of vampires which were threatening the safety of the city. As Armand says in the show, the interview is basically a suicide note. So, this interview could be about getting Lestat to wake up by provoking the rest of the Vampires to try killing Louis.
THEORY 5a:- The Interview is for Louis
This theory supposes that Louis is a captive/prisoner of Armand, and that he is pretending to love him, but actually wants to escape. It argues that Louis is planning to publish IWTV to provoke Lestat into action and save him from Armand (and the vampires who would try to kill him). This one suggests that Armand loves Louis and is controlling/passifying him to 'protect' him from himself.
This theory also suggests that Armand is behaving like a caregiver, and allowing Louis to do the interview as a form of therapy. But that he has no intention of allowing Daniel to actually publish it (as he knows it's a death sentence for Louis).
THEORY 5b:- The interview is for Lestat
This theory is similar to the one above, except that it proposes that Armand will allow the book to be published. This is to provoke Lestat to come to them (either so Armand can kill him or because he is in love with Lestat too). And that he is pretending to be human both to avoid being mentioned in the book Daniel will publish, and to manipulate/control what Daniel will write about his past (the Theatre of the Vampires etc).
And that's just the start! There are so, so, so many more. And so many unanswered questions. I can't wait till season 2, to find out!
Personally, I think it's a combination of several (1, 3 and 5b).

Given recent discussions in the fandom and because I’m curious to hear others’ opinion… would you want to see a Chenford breakup next season?
All right, let me start with my usual disclaimer : this is only my opinion and it has no more (or less) value than anyone else's. And this isn't meant as a personal attack either, regardless of which side of the equation you're in. I actually enjoyed reading other people's takes on this, particularly the ones who want a breakup, to see their perspective on the subject. It was truly interesting (no sarcasm).
To answer your question, dear Anon, no, I don't want a breakup. Mainly because I feel that so many shows go there, so I'm more interested in seeing Tim and Lucy navigate the ups and downs together.
One thing that attracted me to their relationship was their ability to talk to each other about everything and anything. How, despite their differences and their rocky start, they could always confide in each other… Be extremely vulnerable. And that is what I would love to see going forward. How this shorthand they've developed by working together can translate into their personal relationship. Don't get me wrong, just because they are usually good at communicating doesn't mean that it is perfect. It's not. Even before they became a couple. There are some cracks that became more and more visible as the season progressed. The theme of 'honesty' was their main thread in 5b. The storylines involving Sava & Jake or Isabel served to highlight that aspect. To emphasise how lies, deceit and miscommunication can destroy a relationship. Now it could be used as a foreshadowing… Or it could be used as a warning. Tim and Lucy already have a much stronger relationship, so I choose to believe that this could be a learning experience for them. Learn from other people's mistakes, learn from your past (in Tim's case).
Right now, those moments of dishonesty revolves around one common theme : work. Tim taking a desk job without consulting Lucy first… Lucy doing the five-player trade behind his back… Him trying to lie at first that he wasn't bored out of his mind… Her not saying anything about Primm (as far as we know)… Him not wanting to open up about his fears regarding undercover… Those are starting to pile up and they're going to need to address it. The sooner, the better. Particularly the undercover talk. This has been a long time coming. It's clear that Tim is terrified but doesn't want to burden Lucy with this. And she can sense it. That last scene in 5.21 was (for me) a step in the right direction where they started voicing their concerns. It's nowhere near sufficient. But they stopped avoiding that topic altogether. Like I said, they can be great at communicating… But they can also be their own worst enemies. They're both selfless when it comes to the other… they're both used to do things a certain way. And now, they need to learn how to do these things together. To talk about these moments that may seem insignificant to them but isn't to the other. To stop making decisions for the other. This is quite new to them : as we've seen in the past, they didn't truly open up to their boyfriends/girlfriends. That's something they are going to have to learn together. And that's okay : this is part of the journey of being in a relationship.
Another reason why I don't want to see that is related to the characters' growth. The thing is, I actually could picture Tim breaking up with Lucy because there is a pattern here. If he got it into his head that he is holding Lucy back, an idea already planted by Noah in 5.16, then yes, it wouldn't be out of character for him to break up, thinking it's the right thing to do for Lucy. Which is not that dissimilar to what he did in 5.02 : sure, they weren't together, but it still felt like a separation. Especially since the end of that scene mirrored so well another one from 1.12… when he decided to divorce Isabel. And if you remember, that was pretty much for that very same reason : he was afraid that being with him would only remind her of her time as an addict and bring her down. So he did what he thought would help her the most and decided to divorce her. So breaking that pattern would be a tremendous character development for Tim (in my opinion). Then, there's the fact that this is something they knew would be coming up at some point. This isn't a new obstacle. The episode before they got together had Lucy go undercover. And Tim, even more so than her, knew what he was getting into when he told her that it was worth the risk. He may not have explicitly said it but the implication that she was worth fighting for was right there. So breaking up for something that they could foresee kind of negates those words. And it would play right into Lucy's insecurities. She was so hesitant because she didn't want to lose what they have. She is finally letting go of the fears that prevented her before from fully committing to a relationship… Her certainty in them is absolutely amazing. So breaking up now would hurt her so much. (I focused mostly on Tim here because I struggle to see a reason for Lucy to break up. At least, not if this is related to her career, be it undercover work or her promotion).
Now, that's not to say that it can't be executed in a beautiful way. Sometimes breaking up can help strengthen a relationship, as odd as it might seem. Sometimes it gets too much and taking a step back can offer a new perspective and a fresh start on healthier grounds. Just like sticking in a relationship at all costs can be very damaging and toxic. I mean, take a look at Lucy and Tim in their last respective relationships… They stayed well past the expiration date. But I, personally, would rather see them work this out together. See them 'fight' and argue, like they've done in the past… that very same thing they didn't do with Ashley and Chris. See them all vulnerable with each other, like they've also done in the past. I honestly think the writers could pull off the angst and drama with this storyline, without having to resort to a breakup. But again, that's only my preference :)

I understand! It had just been a couple hours since the first anon I sent and thought I had said something wrong. Personally, I'm leaning towards the parallel being a coincidence, the writers minds are a complete mystery to me. Thanks for responding! :D
Yeah, no, you're good. I also think it's a coincidence. Just a convenient injury for Eddie to insert himself into the situation, kinda like medic Eddie opens the line of communication with his father in 517. From what I'm reading, I feel like people got caught up in the idea of the shooting being the climax of the situation, when the shooting is actually the trigger (no pun intended) so the parallels here are probably with season 5, we got the season 4 ones last season. The "shooting" already happened again, that's Chris leaving. The show put Eddie in a similar position he was in 5b, and while I don't believe Eddie is going to have a full breakdown again, he's gonna have to deconstruct parts of himself, and the arc is about parenting, Eddie as a father and a son. Whatever parallel with a previous love interest probably means nothing because it would be insane to insert someone new here. And I'm not even saying this as someone who wants Eddie's queer arc to be about accepting he can love Buck, it just doesn't make sense.

Summary: After the Final Battle, Killian Jones had finally settled into his happily ever after with his wife and family. Until a new foe arrived in Storybrooke: the infamous Dorian Gray, who looks rather familiar—one might say identical—to the pirate, and he’s on a mission: to claim the powers of the Dark One for himself. There’s only one problem: the Dark One no longer exists. Dorian hummed to himself in thought. He’d been sneaking around the former wicked witch’s property, stealing some of the leftover golden straw made by Rumpelstiltskin (he wasn’t sure how he’d missed it the first time), when he noticed his brother at the front door of the house. So, obviously, he decided to eavesdrop, lingering just below the kitchen window.
He had to admit—the heroes’ idea of using the Crimson Heart to render him powerless was a valid one, if the connection between his and his brother’s magic was accurate. And he had every reason to believe it; there was a period of a few weeks a couple years ago when his own magic wouldn’t work. He’d been in New York City at the time and just attributed the dysfunction to the lack of magic in the rest of this realm finally catching up to him. But based on what little he’d deduced about the timing of Hook’s dabble with the underworld, it was likely then, and it returned whenever his twin had been resurrected. (He’d spent the bulk of that time with a lovely redhead anyways.)
(He’d also finally read the novel supposedly inspired by his life, after delaying it for over a century. Damn, Oscar had taken quite a number of liberties with that story, but given what he knew about the man, none were surprising. He loathed that he gave it a moral, though, and a tragic ending to boot, when Dorian himself had few and had no plans of failing.)
He translocated away before his brother could leave the farmhouse, heading for the queen’s vault. He’d heard of the Crimson Heart, but never thought he’d have a reason to seek it out—he was all about acquiring power, not losing it. He still wasn’t sure how exactly he could use it, but better to have it in his arsenal before it could be used against him.
As he approached the vault, he could sense the protection spell the queen had placed around it—far stronger than the one at the town line. Well, that was no problem; he reached into an inner pocket and pulled out an odd-looking dagger; the blade looked vaguely like bone. It was precisely what he’d been looking for during his ill-fated adventure in London all those years ago: the knife was made from a sliver of Maui’s legendary fish hook, having the ability to cut through any spell (though he didn’t come across it for a few more decades).
He flipped it in his hand, then stabbed at the air, connecting with the barrier. Then he cut down; a bright red line followed, glowing as it created a break in the spell. When he reached the ground, he was able to slip his other hand into the split and part it like a curtain, then stepped through.
Foolishly, the queen hadn’t put any further security measures on her hideaway. To be fair, that was a strong spell guarding it—few would be able to get through with their lives. But he was usually the exception to any rules.
He’d been focused on the books the first time he’d been down here, but could easily tell it was a treasure trove of other useful items. Based on what he’d overheard, the object he was looking for had some inherent magic of its own; that would make it easier to locate among all the other clutter.
It took a few tries—and only after uncovering a number of other, actual hearts—before he found it, set casually on a shelf in a box. It was a clear-ish stone, vaguely tinted green or red, depending on the angle, but he could feel the void-like enchantment it held. It was just waiting to absorb whatever magic it could get.
For a brief moment, he wondered if there was a way to use it as a siphon—perhaps he could merely take his brother’s magic for his own, including that bit of Darkness? But no; everything he’d heard about this was that it was a one-way vacuum, and he was too close to achieving his goals to risk it by getting greedy.
He closed up the box and tucked it under his arm, then transported away, to another part of town. If a town as quaint as Storybrooke could have a seedy side, this was it: a short strip of warehouses and industrial spaces near the docks. A plain, almost charred-looking cinderblock building sat at the end of the lane, with a sign by the door reading Wayland Smith (if one could read it, that is; the metal sign was almost tarnished beyond recognition).
A rush of heat welcomed Dorian as he pulled the door open; inside, a number of forges were going, giving the entire space an orange glow.
In the back of the shop, a man wore a welding helmet and was shaping red-hot metal with a hammer; the resounding clang echoed in the large space as sparks erupted from his project. He stopped when he saw Dorian approach, though, and lifted the mask.
There was nothing special or unique about his appearance. He was just…a man, albeit a large one. It was near impossible to tell he was the centuries-old Wayland the Smith of legend. Perhaps that was how he’d survived so long, though. But that wasn’t Dorian’s style.
“Y’ready, then?” Wayland asked gruffly.
“As ever,” Dorian replied.
Wayland beckoned him to follow to one of the massive furnaces, which was currently cold. But at the table in front of it, a crucible was waiting next to a fresh-looking mold. “Wha’ever you’ve got, put it in there,” he brusquely explained, nodding at the cup.
Dorian first pulled out his brother’s namesake prosthesis and attempted to put it in the melting pot, but it was too big. Wayland took it from him, whacked it on the edge of…some sort of structure within the foundry to snap it in half, and then put the broken pieces back in.
Then, Dorian pulled out the strands of gold he’d taken from the former dungeon at the farmhouse, as well as the last ingredient he’d taken from the Evil Queen’s vault the week prior: ambrosia dust. Neither of those objects was very potent on their own, but in combination—oh, they were going to be everything.
He set the gold down on the worksurface and dumped the vial of dust into his left hand. He then picked the gold back up and closed his eyes, focusing on the remnants of dark magic that lingered in the metal strands. Even if the Darkness no longer truly existed, it still left its fingerprints—like it had on his brother and the others, and like it did in this bit of gold, fabricated with its use.
The strands began to glow and warm in his hold; he smirked at the feel of it, then opened his eyes and dragged the wires through the dust in his other palm. The ambrosia—known for its ability to resurrect the dead when in its pure form—would help bring back those powers, and the metal gleamed even brighter as it picked up and held onto the specks of dust.
He bent the bits in half and added them to the crucible. Obviously, that wasn’t all it was going to take to bring back the Darkness—he still needed to get at those bits stuck to their souls, and that would require a blood tether first—but this was the start of finally getting what was his.
“Care to light it, sir?” Wayland asked, pointing toward the furnace. They could have used any of the other ones, but Dorian figured it would be all the more meaningful if his own magic fueled the fire.
He stood in front of the cavernous hole, then put his hands together at chest height. Between them, he created a dense fireball, small, then growing larger as he moved his hands apart, calling on his magic to increase its size and intensity.
When he had a fireball nearly the size of his abdomen, he pushed the whole thing into the furnace; it immediately began to lick at the brick walls and set it alight from the inside, to the point that he had to shield his eyes.
Wayland was watching the temperature gauge on the outside; when it was heated enough, he gestured for Dorian to step back. Then the smith pulled his visor back down and pushed the crucible into the blazing hot oven.
Dorian had no idea how long it took for metal to melt down, but it was somehow both longer and less time than he expected; perhaps he was just anxious. Still, the next time Wayland moved, it was to bring the crucible back out, now filled with bright orange liquid.
(There was something exceedingly satisfying about the fact that he’d not only taken Captain Hook’s hook, but that he’d also essentially destroyed it.)
Expertly, Wayland turned around, not losing a drop of the molten alloy, and poured it into the mold Dorian had commissioned earlier in the week. From the angle he stood at, he could see the light from it illuminate the inside of the form until it just reached the top.
The men shared a beer as they waited for it to cool, and once it got close to being ready, Wayland fitted it with the handle that Dorian provided—made from a chunk of wood he’d kept in his pocket from a tree on the grounds of the Dark Castle. (It had been his favorite tree to climb as a child, and he’d always kept a piece of it on him in case he ever needed help finding his way home. But this seemed to be a far more fitting spot for it now.)
Wayland assessed the form, then nodded; he assumed that meant it was ready. Dorian tossed the cigarette he’d been dragging on into the furnace, then watched as the smithy tapped and pulled with his tools to undo the mold.
It took a few hard hits, but then—there it was; a bit rough still, but gorgeous: a new dagger for a new Dark One.
It was similar in shape to the one of lore—it had mostly the same tapered shape with its undulating edges, but had a few more curls added on the sides, ending in dangerously sharp points. A pattern similar to the old one was pressed into the blade in relief, but was the same color as the rest of the metal at the moment.
Wayland took the blade to yet another part of his workspace and flipped the switch on another machine, first sanding it a bit and then buffing it until it gleamed.
He gave it one final inspection then, seemingly satisfied, took it carefully by the blade and extended the handle to Dorian. “All yours, m’lord.”
Dorian couldn’t hold back his grin as he took it and looked it over. “Oh, it’s perfect,” he remarked, turning it over in his grip and enjoying the weight of it in his grasp. He pressed a fingertip into one of the points; it came back bleeding. “Yes—perfect.”
“Good,” Wayland answered. “Anythin’ else ya need?”
Dorian hummed, giving it another once over. “There is one thing.”
“Wha’s that?”
Swiftly, Dorian took the dagger and shoved it into Wayland’s shoulder. The man cried out in pain and fell to his knees, which seemed dramatic; it’s not like it was a fatal stab.
But then Dorian pulled it out to an even harsher scream, and realized that the extra points on the edges probably made it worse.
Still, the blade was covered in blood. It looked wonderful, but it wasn’t the blood he ultimately needed.
He summoned a small fireball and ran it along the sides of the dagger; the blood turned dark and filled in the designs pressed into its surface. There—now it looked like the Dark One’s dagger.
Time to make it real.

Since becoming mortal again, Rumpelstiltskin had learned to appreciate the blessings of a full night’s sleep. Although he had forgotten how light a sleeper he’d been prior to taking on the curse; it didn’t take much to wake him—especially once his son arrived and didn’t seem to understand the concept of a normal sleep schedule. (Not for the first time, his heart went out to Milah having to do that on her own centuries prior.)
Gideon had at least grown out of that now (mostly), but Rumple retained the ability to wake at the slightest disturbance. Given that he still had a number of enemies, it was a useful skill, even if he largely towed the correct side of morality nowadays.
So he wasn’t surprised to wake in the middle of the night. However, he wasn’t sure why. A glance at the monitor sitting on his nightstand indicated Gideon was still asleep, and Belle was lightly snoring next to him. No other sounds could be heard; not even the hooting of an owl outside (the only thing that typically woke him lately, and—if he was being honest—his main rival at the moment).
The moments he missed having magic were few and far between, but this was one of them. As he sat up, so did the hair on the back of his neck—someone was there.
And he could only think of one foe who would be able to enter undetected.
“What do you want, Mr. Gray?”
The shadows shifted on the far side of the room as the man in question came forward. “Color me impressed, Dark One; you still have your wits about you.”
“I had them before I had that title; why wouldn’t I when that title no longer exists?”
“For now,” Dorian countered. He could only just make out the shape of him in the bit of light that came through the drapes.
“Please; you’re not still on about that, are you?”
“Indeed I am,” Dorian countered, then suddenly appeared at Rumple’s bedside—and was pressing a cold bit of metal against his neck.
Rumpelstiltskin jumped away and looked down; that fool had the dagger. Or, a version of it—this one seemed a bit more dangerous (and far more impractical). “Where the hell did you get that?” he asked, hoping he sounded unimpressed—though, in reality, it did worry him a bit. The dagger was only ever a conduit, but the fact that Dorian had one wasn’t a good sign.
“Why, I made it,” Dorian boasted. “And I came here to thank you for your help. It’s mostly my brother’s hook, but you left some gold behind in that storm cellar; gives it just that little extra boost of magic, I think.” He pressed it close to Rumple’s neck again. “What do you think? Pretty great, eh?”
Of course, that’s when Belle stirred next to him. “Rumple?” she asked sleepily. “What’s going—”
Her (obvious) question was cut off as she was quickly frozen in place. “I thought your magic was fire, not ice,” Rumple bit out.
“Bit of everything,” Dorian shrugged.
Rumple took a deep breath but tried to be steady about it, and not let on the nerves that were stirring. (He may have been a coward long ago, but he was no such thing now—not when it came to his family’s safety, at least, and he was at a severe disadvantage here.) “I’m surprised you didn’t already put your name on it,” he instead taunted. “Since you seem to think you’re entitled to be the Dark One.”
“Oh, no no no,” Dorian replied. “I need to earn it—just how you did. I want to know the joyous feeling of watching my name engrave itself after I’ve won it outright.”
Rumple remembered his own emotions upon suddenly seeing his name etched in that cursed steel. “Joy? I just remember feeling sick.” The memory had dulled over his years in the Darkness, but it was another of those things that came back to him with mortality. ��I was willing to do anything for my son, but I didn’t know that would be the cost.”
“You were fine with murder, but not with the Darkness?” Dorian scoffed. “That’s an odd line to draw.”
“Desperation does that to people,” he countered. “Your father was apparently determined enough to make sure you didn’t get those powers that he duped me into it.”
Even in the dark, he could see the fire of anger light the other man’s eyes.
“Which actually brings me to a question,” Rumple went on. “Why are you so desperate to be the Dark One? And don’t just tell me it’s because you were promised; you already have magic and found a way to immortality, so what could you want with them?”
“Because I have nothing else,” Dorian spat. “No family, no friends—no loved ones. I’ve devoted and sacrificed so much of my life in pursuit of this. I deserve it.” Rumple rolled his eyes, but Dorian didn’t notice. “My birth parents gave me up—in favor of another, I’ve recently learned—and I killed my only other love. This is it—this is all that remains of the only person who showed me any care. And I will have it.”
Rumple narrowed his eyes—and was suddenly sympathetic. “You want to prove to your father that you were worthy of the magic.”
Dorian said nothing.
“Trust me, I know all about complicated paternal relationships. But you can move past that; you can find something else worth living for.” He looked over at Belle, still frozen, to emphasize his point. “I did, and so did your brother.”
“No, I’m afraid it’s too late for that,” Dorian answered, almost sadly.
And with a flick of his wrist, both men disappeared in a cloud of fiery smoke.
Rumple just hoped he wasn’t about to lament the fact he couldn’t say goodbye to Belle.
He knew he was resourceful and could find a way out; but he knew the target wasn’t just on his head, and hoped his inevitable allies were thinking just as far ahead.

Dorian was beginning to regret not drawing up a dramatically oversized checklist of the things he needed to complete his plan. First on the list was the dagger—check; Rumpelstiltskin was a little further down, but he could cross him off, too.
Next up: his portrait. Much like the Crimson Heart, he mainly wanted to keep it close to prevent it being used against him, but he also wanted the inherent magic in it handy if the situation called for it. He transported himself and the former Dark One to the storage room above the library, making sure to tie up Rumple’s hands in the process, lest he make a grab for any potential weapons.
The room was musty and dim, with only a bit of light coming through the spaces between the boarded-up windows from the streetlamps outside. But he didn’t need to be able to see to find the portrait—he could hear it, the steady beating of Sybil’s heart still echoing his.
At least—he thought he was fine, until he ran into several somethings dangling from the ceiling.
He cried out in surprise; meanwhile, Rumpelstiltskin laughed. “Careful, lad; I’m sure there’s a metaphor there about needing light in the darkness.”
“Lad? You’re hardly older than me.”
“Still am,” he shrugged.
Dorian turned away and tried to brush…whatever it was out of his path, but there were more of them. “The bloody hell are these? Some primitive security system?”
“Dreamcatchers,” Rumple explained. “I forgot we put them up here.”
“What value do those have?” He’d never heard of spells requiring stolen dreams—but the longest Dark One to ever hold the title probably had.
“It’s a bit of magic that originated from the indigenous folk of this land,” he said. “Not just to hold dreams, but memories.”
“There are stones for that,” Dorian retorted.
“Aye, but only in a few places. These can be made anywhere. See for yourself how they work.”
Dorian looked over at his foe; he felt like he was being baited, but he didn’t know into what. He could play along, though; Rumpelstiltskin’s hours were numbered, so he might as well take in any bits of knowledge from the man he could.
He reached up to grab the nearest dreamcatcher. “No, not that one,” Rumple interrupted. “That one, over there—with the black feathers. You’ll like that one.”
Dorian arched an eyebrow skeptically, but obliged, and took down the one made with a reddish ring of wood (at least, as far as he could tell in the dark) with feathers hanging off of it as described.
It didn’t do anything at first, but he could feel the magic simmering inside the web of strings across its middle.
“Now what?” he asked, impatient.
“Just give it a second.”
He looked back at it, and then, slowly, an image appeared in the empty middle of the dreamcatcher. He leaned in closer to study it, and then—it was like he was inside the memory.
A couple dozen hooded figures stood in a half circle at one end of the clearing; at the center stood Hook and Emma. But they looked very different from the couple he’d met here in town: Emma had bleached-white hair and a severe, all black outfit; while Hook…looked a bit more like him—hair parted on the right, dressed far more casually than he’d seen him yet (though still in all black), with an emptiness in his eyes that seemed out of character.
What was most astonishing, though, was the fact that his twin was holding a united Excalibur in his hand, and it wasn’t hard to make out the names Killian Jones and Emma Swan both engraved in it.
“Impossible,” Dorian gasped.
“Just keep watching,” Rumple told him from…somewhere beyond his awareness; this must be his own memory.
Next to Hook, a cloaked woman stood—with noticeably scaly skin. Was that… “Nimue?” he wondered aloud.
“In the flesh, so to speak,” Rumple confirmed.
He scanned the rest of the figures, and realized the posture of one was exceedingly familiar. “Zoso,” he whispered. They were all the past Dark Ones. Gods, he was about to get starstruck.
Nimue announced, “It’s time,” though for what, he couldn’t tell. But it triggered Emma, who angrily proclaimed, “No—you are not taking the people I love.” Her voice was harsher than he recalled.
Nimue lifted her hand to magically choke Emma; it obviously wouldn’t kill her, but it definitely stopped her in her tracks. The original Dark One taunted Emma, but Dorian was more focused on his brother’s reaction. At first, it was nothing; then, he seemed to be avoiding Emma’s eyes. But the moment he met them, the change in his countenance was visible, from realization to horror to anger.
“That’s enough,” he spat as he turned to face Nimue.
“What do you think you’re doing?” she asked, not giving up her hold on Emma’s neck.
“Being the man I want to be,” Killian answered.
“You can’t stop us,” she boasted.
“Yes, I can.” Hook held Excalibur aloft, then closed his eyes and concentrated—on pulling all the other Dark Ones into the blade. Emma was let go and caught her breath, but Dorian was focused on the disappearing image of Zoso from the ring of sorcerers.
When it was done, the blade had changed its color, to black with a red glow from its engravings. His brother was visibly shaking at the effort to hold it—them—in.
“Killian, you can’t do this,” Emma told him tearfully; it reminded him somehow of his last moments with Sybil.
“We both know there’s no other way, love,” Hook told her, equally emotional. “We have to hurry; the Darkness won’t stay trapped in Excalibur much longer—take it.” (Were Dorian actually there, he would have done so in a heartbeat—but not to do what he had a feeling was about to happen.)
Emma tried to refuse him, but after a brief debate, Killian was able to convince her. “Let me die a hero; that’s the man I want you to remember—please.” Dorian rolled his eyes a bit, but they were also glued to the scene.
Reluctantly, Emma took the sword; it wasn’t obvious if its own weight or that of her next task was making her struggle to hold it.
Hook was beginning to brace himself, but Emma wasn’t ready. She whispered that she loved him, and pulled him into a kiss that clearly had goodbye written all over it. He returned the sentiment, then nodded at her as she stepped back.
She hesitated again, until Killian told her it was okay. She lifted the blade slowly, and it seemed like she wasn’t going to move—until she abruptly surged forward, piercing him through the chest with the sword.
Dorian sucked in his own breath at it; despite being told the abridged version, he almost thought she wouldn’t go through with it. Almost immediately, Hook collapsed on Emma’s shoulder, but managed to push himself away in time to see the Darkness drop its hold on Emma; she glowed briefly, but then was left looking much the same as the sheriff that Dorian now knew.
She pulled the blade out—likely only hastening death—and it disintegrated, but she was too distracted by the dying man in front of her to care.
She grabbed him as he fell to the ground, and went down with him. Her sobs filled the clearing, echoing around him.
But then, all of a sudden, he was back in the storeroom above the library. He gasped, and could feel the wetness on his cheeks from the tears that scene apparently elicited.
“Impressive magic, eh?” Rumple said; Dorian had almost forgotten that he was there—why either of them were there. And he wasn’t sure if the man was referring to that which allowed him to watch that scene unfold—or what happened in it.
“Rubbish,” he tried to counter, but the emotion in his voice betrayed him.
“Like I said, you don’t have to do this,” Rumple told him again, softer. “Your brother—”
“Is a completely different person than me,” Dorian spat back. “You really thought this would get me to change my resolve? Some little mind game?” He tossed the dreamcatcher aside. “Nothing will stop me from getting what I want.”
He turned on a dime and followed Sybil’s heartbeat to his portrait; he was glad there wasn’t enough light to see what it looked like.
When he returned, Rumple was still looking smug. “Come on,” he snapped, then shoved the man with magic, compelling him to follow him.
“What now?” he asked.
“If my brother is half the hero he says he is, he and his bride won’t hesitate to come to your rescue. And then I’ll finally take what should have been mine—what he threw away.”
They made their way down the stairs and into the night, but he could still feel a sense of self-satisfaction coming off Rumple, as if he was convinced that showing him that scene had impacted Dorian at all. It hadn’t.
(At least, that’s what he was trying to convince himself.)

🀄️reflecting on richonne
Season 5: The Parents Era
My parents were at their most parents-y in season 5 and I’m here for it. This was the easiest era to name for me because Rick and Michonne were giving parents at every turn in s5. This season more directly positioned Rick and Michonne as co-parents to Carl & Judith, Rick and Michonne were co-leaders of their whole group with Rick trusting to follow Michonne’s instinct not once but twice in bringing their group to new places, and fellow Richonner Deanna knew to pair Rick and Michonne together in positions of authority at Alexandria. All signs pointed to these two being the perfect pairing and the parents in charge.
Rick and Michonne’s exchanges in episodes like The Distance and What Happened and What’s Going on are incredible and speak volumes about the love, depth, and trust their relationship reached. There’s just a whole bunch of Richonne gold in season 5, even despite a certain 5B storyline. And while this season saw R&M fully in their parents era, I love how they still very much had sweet human moments beyond being parents and leaders together. I’ll always appreciate how even when the group reunited and grew, Rick and Michonne still gravitated toward each other and had their little Richonne bubble moments.
Watching s5 back, I really feel like it’s clear that Rick and Michonne’s relationship was on a fast track to becoming a couple prior to 5.12. (like low-key had Noah’s neighborhood worked out as a home base and the world stopped screaming for a sec…idk, we might have got Richonne at that time) Arriving at Alexandria threw a bit of a wrench in that as all the characters had some major PTSD to wrestle with first, which is understandable and allowed for them to grow and heal which made their relationship healthier when they did eventually get together. But even in ASZ, Rick and Michonne’s unique connection was clear both in times when they would communicate and in how off they felt when they weren’t telling each other everything.
I’ll always appreciate how this season fully established Rick and Michonne as partners and parents, and they only embodied those things more and more as the show progressed. Best of all, by the end of Season 5 Rick and Michonne both made it clear they would follow each other anywhere. 😌

So I desperately need to download after 13x01 so here are my initial thoughts:
1. The dynamics in the house is OFF & you can feel it
2. The way Kelly hesitated when he saw Damon down & Kidd trying to help him. This is going to be a problem 😕
3. How did he know they're marrrrried. Why would they not show us Kelly & Stella talking about it? Pretty big deal
3b. Kelly did not disclose he & Damon's relationship to the chief. I feel like this is going to come back in a big/bad way & I'm scared
4. Mouch & Hermann... it's like Hermann is shrinking & I don't know why?
5. I feel like Stella has a mark on her back now with the new chief
5b. I also feel like this may be the beginning of a slight unravel for her not that it's bad but this coupled with the Damon, baby, backstory stuff I can see a crack forming
5c. Insert the men in Stella's life, causing her heartburn
6. That baby talk was a slight gut punch ngl even though I "prepared" for it
6b. Damon... i feel like you're going to piss me off when it comes to Stellaride. I can see where they're going with this & i feel like this triangle is going to be angst angst annnnnngst 😐
7. Carver seems like he's regressing tbh
8. Joe.... oh Joe I'm scared what he might do
9. Wtf was that scene with Pascal & that LT who came to visit 😳

Did I miss anything? Am I being dramatic? This episode left me feeling uneasy, which is not what I anticipated tbh.

How long have you been in the CS/OUAT fandom?
I’ve been in the CS and OUAT fandom since May 2016. I followed Pip (pirateherokillian) from The Hunger Games fandom. She was posting gifs from 5B as it was airing in spring 2016. I causally kept it in the back of my mind. When I saw the 5x21 reunion scene in gifs and video, I fell in love. Went down the rabbit hole and here I am.
When did you start shipping Captain Swan?
Like I said before, I saw the 5x21 reunion scene and it was history.
What drew you to this event?
I like to participate in fandom events because you get to collab other talented people in the fandom.
For our betas: Who/what have you beta'd before, or is this your first time? Feel free to give as much info as you like.
I’ve betaed for my friend Jordy on her CS 10 Things I Hate About You AU and a couple pieces for another fandom. I have a degree in Journalism, so I’d like to think I have a way with words. We’ll see.
What are you looking forward to most about participating in this event?
I have an interest in fantasy but have never participated in this event before. I look forward to experiencing Captain Swan in new ways and meeting new fans.

I got a few asks on the Buddie/Eddie-dating-in-5B subject so I just wanted to show you all a little something quickly before I delve into those (and this got long but I promise it's all worth it):

Hen: "And Buck's..."
Buck: "Officially responsible for the creation of new life" (important line because it all gels into Buck's spare parts story line from Buck Begins and what's coming down the pipe for this donation story line for him)
The reactions:
Then:
Buck: "I guess maybe that's easier when you can just say I'm going to be a father"
Hen: "Whoa, whoa, whoa. *Kameron and Connor are pregnant?"
Chim: "Congratulations! Oh wait, can we congratulate you?"
Eddie: "I don't know. Kind of feels weird congratulating him."
Buck:
Let's talk about what's going on with Eddie in this scene. Some things to note:
Eddie was not surprised when Buck called him that late (or early) and that Buck wasn't sleeping (nor does Buck seem surprised that he's not waking Eddie up)
Eddie is sitting on the floor in front of the couch
He's playing a video game while Christopher is sleeping
He doesn't congratulate Buck (like Chim) or is generally happy for the couple (like Hen); instead he does his usual teasing of Buck but also seems somewhat mocking/snarky about it
after Eddie's reaction and Chim agreeing that the "etiquette rules are kind of hazy", Buck says they can ask Bobby about it
Important dialogue: Eddie: "Looks like the winds got us all tonight." Hen: "Well, I wouldn't give too much credit to the wind. Chimney's obsessed about a house, I'm worried about my kid, Buck's..."
Now, why is all of this important? Let's break it down quickly:
1) Eddie (and Buck) not being surprised at the phone call and Buck (Eddie) being awake - not only does this imply that this kind of phone call has happened before but it also implies that they knew the other was awake. Which is important because Hen, Chim, and Buck all discuss how they knew the others were awake (Chim's "Murder House feed") before Eddie is added to the call. But they never discuss how Buck knew Eddie was awake, only that they're all awake due to the winds aka things they're worried/thinking about.
2) The couch is important because it's where Eddie will fall asleep. On its own, it might not mean much, but due to the scene we get in 6x01 where it's discussed with Eddie about the couch representing a partner (and we see Buck choose a single lounger in the end) with Christopher present. And it's even more important because it's mixed in with the video game which is an important prop for Eddie.
3) Speaking of the video game, it's no coincidence that Eddie is doing this activity and that he's doing it alone (and that he's unsurprised that Buck calls while he's playing which links back to the #1 point) during a scene where it's obvious each member of the 118 has something on their minds that they're obsessively thinking/worrying over and that may or may not blow up in their faces in the future (i.e. Denny for Henren; the house for Madney; Buck's baby). We literally just went through the journey of Eddie separating his heart from Christopher's. He's playing the game for himself. Not to mention they also use the same game footage they used in 4x03. In that episode, Eddie feared the future and Buck was playing the CID character; in this episode Eddie no longer fears the future and he's playing CID. The fact that they had him playing against the computer Dog symbolizes one thing: Eddie is waiting/ready for a partner. Especially since they had Christopher sleeping and would be "up in an hour". They're reiterating that Eddie is now thinking for himself when it comes to this topic.
4) The fact that Eddie isn't congratulating Buck or is happy for him or the couple speaks volumes to me. Yes, he teases Buck and he's sort of right, but at the same time, he also knows how important this is to Buck (that we can surmise that is). So for him to make a surface joke about it and say nothing else, for Hen to be the one to ask Buck how he's feeling about it with Chim present after Eddie jumps off of the call -- this all is very loud and important. This is something that affects Eddie and he appears to be closing himself off to it but I say appear because he's already done the work on dealing with his feelings but once again, we get that mysterious absence of any emotional connection between he and Buck on this big issue. But it's also in contrast to what we've seen for Eddie as well since his journey from season 5: Eddie relies heavily on Buck and Buck is more than happy to be relied on. This isn't happening this season for Buck...yet. So the fact that Eddie isn't returning this facet of their friendship is loud in and of itself. It's because the issue actually involves Buck and Eddie can't talk to him about it and it also smacks of the whole GoT-vibe where the writers were keeping something hidden from the audience only to build up to a big reveal in the end (or in their case in the last season at least, not so much; David Nutter's we-didn't-need-to-see-the-Starks'-reaction-to-information-we-already-knew in 8x04, anyone?). So it's more than obvious that not only is this season going to be Buck's emotional journey but also that this particular issue (the donation) is something that Eddie doesn't appear to be as on board with as everyone else is...as much as they can be sort of. So to me, it's no mystery that Hen is the one Buck went to regarding this issue because in 3x01 Hen shows Buck the picture of the sperm donor she and Karen have chosen and this is a callback to Buck's season 4 story line of why he was born in the first place. So that means at some point, Eddie is going to intersect into this season's story line. The season premiere clued us into that with the whole dinner/couch convo with Eddie while having Christopher present.
5) Buck mentioning Bobby not only leads us into the next scene or reiterates the father/son relationship Buck and Bobby have, but also proves that while Buck was sure when he made this decision (and is happy about the results), he still isn't 100% sure, not really. The onesie is very telling in the ending scene because it's from the LAFD (which is meant to represent Buck) but also kind of clues us in to what Bobby's reaction or fatherly advice might be. This baby is going to be an issue for Buck because he's not letting go. Tbf to him, it's not an easy thing I imagine, knowing a kid of yours is out there, especially when Buck has been trying to find a way to make this idea of his relationship/family all of this time. The 118 is a family and it started with Bobby; it wasn't a family before he came along. It's only natural that he's in the father role but he's also the one to pull these guys' heads out of their asses when needed. Which funnily enough, Bobby did that for Eddie in 4x06 after doing it in 3x08. That is one parallel that Eddie and Buck have in common, upcoming romantic relationship or not. Hen and Chim get advice from Bobby too, but the guidance they need definitely differs from the guidance Eddie and Buck tend to need.
6) This is not even subtle at this point: if Hen is worried about Denny (and so is Karen aka showing the couple theme), Chim is obsessing over the house (that he brings Maddie to show her so they can get it aka showing the couple theme), Buck is happy about the sperm donation being successful (that he's subconsciously worry/obsessing over), then Eddie is worrying/obsessing over...? It's not AdLibs, guys; we don't need to fill in the blank because the show itself did. He's not thinking about Bobby because it isn't until he's mentioned that he then goes into concern mode. He's not thinking about Christopher or his son's crush because the crush is never mentioned in this episode and he says Christopher is asleep. He's not thinking about dating because that hasn't even been mentioned yet. He is however playing a video game solo near a couch and he's being oddly silent and lacking support for a huge decision his best friend made that has come to fruition, no pun intended. <- this is what's bothering him
The lack of a partner and I'm willing to bet that he might not even realize that Buck's decision is bothering him, too. I mean, Eddie has the conversation with Hen about Denny and biological parents but can't be bothered to talk to his best friend about choosing to donate sperm to his former roommate and his wife and father a child? Tbf to Eddie, I'm not sure Buck has opened up the conversation about it with him or not (again, that old being-hidden vibe rears its head) but Eddie's reactions have not been...on par with their friendship level so to speak.
And don't get me started on the whole Connor, former roommate thing. We know that Connor was in Buck Begins and he was the sort-of catalyst to get Buck to LA (again, they're working hard to connect this season of Buck's journey to season 4, just like they did with Eddie in season 5 & connecting back to season 3 for him) but we also had back in season 4 as well:
Albert was Buck's roommate that ended up dating Veronica (4x08), a girl he had a date with before, the very same episode that Eddie is dating Ana (and we see said date before Buck returns to walk in on Albert and Veronica). Then we get this gem in 4x04:
Albert introduces himself as Buck's roommate and Chim's brother to the Buckley parents, not Buck's friend. He could have easily said 'I'm Buck's friend and roommate' or just that he was Buck's friend, since we know he's only there as emotional support for Chim and to help break the ice for Chim and Buck. And while we don't get a reaction from the Buckleys on this, we do get the framing:
Maddie and Buck walked up to greet their parents which is normal because hey, it's their parents, but the framing is also giving away that Buck is missing the person who should be in the Chim role for him. The Buckleys are meeting Chim for the first time, and while it might not be that odd to have Albert present given the family connection he has to Chim, the way they chose to do the framing is slightly odd (despite the Buckleys/Hans vibe). Never does Chim come up next to Maddie to be by her side while she greets her parents. He simply sneaks in to say who he is and he's glad to meet them and takes the packages off of their hands. Albert also hangs back which given his role is normal but they purposely keep Albert in the same frame as Chim until they start doling out drinks. But they're doing the same action, which gives Buck and Maddie a moment to collect themselves. The Chim role for Buck is clearly missing here.
And what's even funnier about last night's episode, concerning the video game, is this:
4x03:
6x09:
They used the exact same game footage from 4x03 here but this time Eddie is playing the CID character and not Buck. And Eddie is playing against the computer while Christopher is asleep.
In 4x03 Eddie was afraid of the future. In 6x07 we see that Eddie is no longer afraid of the future. He's literally waiting for a partner to fill that void and they are using props galore to show it, like in 6x07:

And now a video game. And the video game is even more interesting because it's always been linked to Eddie:
3x09 (Eddie is struggling); 4x03 (Eddie fears the future aka moving on); 5x03 (Eddie has his breakdown); 6x04 (Eddie struggling with Christopher getting older & not needing him as much)
So there is something here for Eddie that the video game is symbolizing Eddie's emotional connection for again. I think one of Eddie's great struggles this season will be Christopher growing up (like we see with the 6x04 scene above and Christopher's crush) but in this case, we see it's a lack of a romantic partner. And I don't think it's any coincidence that Eddie turns Christopher's game off in 6x04 and sends him to bed after talking to him and 5 episodes later, we see Eddie doing the same thing, playing a game and talking to his friends. They're clearly trying to show how Eddie's heart is now separated from Christopher's.
And even more interesting is this from the game:
4x03:
Eddie disconnects it before Buck can lose (which Buck thinks Christopher isn't playing fairly)
6x09:
Eddie plays out the game and loses which irritates him slightly & forces him to call it a night (never waiting for Chim or Buck to say goodbye btw).
And then of course we get during the sleeping end scene:
Presumably Eddie was holding onto it when he moved on the couch and it fell. And he's also sleeping on the COUCH:
Which then mirrors Maddie:
(while his sleeping behavior mirrors Chim's, not to mention they both hold the prop)
and Karen:
while Buck
mirrors Chim (while his sleep behavior mirrors Maddie's & his hand is extended like Chim's, Eddie's, and Karen's)
And they make sure to show us that empty space beside Buck while they lead into the onesie shot, then give us the onesie focus shot on top of it which mirrors Eddie's controller shot and then Chim's papers shot.
Which is funny because we had Buck and Eddie mirroring each other during this scene:
And where we see Eddie's reaction (and also Hen's and Bobby's) to Buck's "do you always sleep in the nude?"
Then only Eddie's reaction to Lizzie's response/explanation:
While this is a perfectly natural response to Buck's question who has a "what?" look on his face, they only show Eddie's when Lizzie explains. There was no need for him to react this way to what Lizzie chooses to do when she's home alone EXCEPT...yeah, you got it.
Eddie has shown some aversion to women as the ideal romantic partner for some time. In dialogue and in the story. The fact that they chose for this scene to take place in this episode and for Eddie and Buck to mirror each other until the end when Lizzie's nudity is mentioned...that speaks volumes.
So long story short, for me, the Eddie dating thing is not a big deal. Dating is just dating; it doesn't automatically equal a serious relationship. Even if he finds someone he likes for a short amount of time, it still is no biggie because they've put the hints of what Eddie wants (and what Buck wants) in the show for some time now, and we're simply witnessing the journey as they work to figure it out. They have Eddie and Buck practically circling one another; it's only a matter of time.
It sucks because slow burns can either be slow but you get amazing bread crumbs along the way or it can be excruciating. In this case, I'd argue it's the former. They've given us many great moments between the two and they are building a beautiful foundation. Once it finally goes canon (and it's not going to be right away; listen the blunt truth is that the show and the network know what they have and they're not going to rush into it or half ass it in any way; the network is milking it for all it's worth ratings/money wise and the show is milking their story for all it's worth - having the patience to see this journey through for what it is will have the deserved payoff in the end; if KR was going to split them up into hetsville so to speak, we would have seen them take steps to split their stories up, not continue to parallel/mirror them; she could have made Taylor or Lucy work for Buck and she did neither, if anything she cut Lucy's role down dramatically) all of these little bread crumbs they've given along the way will all make sense in such a wonderful way that you'll wonder why you doubted them in the first place.
Personally, I don't want them to rush Buddie. After the whole SPN/Destiel fiasco, I want the slow burn beautiful epic romance that I've been patiently waiting to pay off in the end. The show is not queerbaiting or even ratebaiting. To me, a perfect example (until the last Law & Order: OC episode anyway) would have been Bensler. They used it until OC was up and running, then started to separate Elliott and Olivia after using their story to help bring in an established set of viewers. They brought in another possible love interest for Elliott but the story dipped into Bensler again for his emotional story line. While I was rolling my eyes when they brought this character in, I actually found myself cheering for Elliott to take the chance with this love interest because it gets Elliott that much closer to being ready to take a chance with Olivia and it being healthy and working. Will that happen? I can't honestly say because Christoper Meloni has said on public record that he doesn't think the pairing going canon would be good for either character or their stories. But both shows and the network know what they have and they're continuing to milk it but the writers keep dipping into it when it doesn't serve the whole ratebait scenario (if that makes sense).
My whole long point is that if Eddie dates around (which I'm willing to bet will go similarly to Bobby's, Chim's, and Buck's forays into the dating world which means not well at all) and even gets a girlfriend, it doesn't mean that Buddie still won't go canon at some point or that they're not endgame. Think about it: if someone gets divorced, what are they encouraged to do once they're ready? To get back out there. Do they automatically find their next spouse, their soul mate, on the first date they go on? Not impossible but very rare. Even if they enter into another relationship, will that be the one they're in the rest of their lives? Not overwhelmingly so. Ana was meant to open Eddie up somewhat (Flores being her last name) after Shannon. Now, Eddie is finally ready and in position to entertain looking for a partner that is more suited to his heart, not Christopher's so to speak. Eddie needs to figure out what he wants from a partner and the only way to do that is to date. Which is why we saw Buck take the chance with Ali (again, we saw how that worked out) after Abby, and then dating before entering into a relationship with Taylor. Buck has stuff to figure out, too. He and Eddie both just got out of relationships, serious ones. They need to get back in the water and find their way to one another organically.
So don't fret. To each their own, but to me personally, I'm willing to take the Buddie train and see all the sights before we arrive at the station. Because when it's all said and done, it is going to be epic and it's going to be one hell of a rewatch.

it would totally be in tim's wheelhouse to have buddie call each brothers in the mid season finale and then the very next episode have them do very non-brother like things at the bachelor party/after the bachelor party and then have them spend the rest of the season trying to re-define what they are to each other.
When Tim said friendship is the core of the coupling, I predicted that he is going to kill the core of this coupling. Seems like they'll maintain the status quo all of 7A(up to episode 5) before shit hits the fan in 7B.
Also it just occurred to me they could parallel Eddie/Marisol with BT in 5B, aka Eddie cheats on Marisol with you know who and it's just a ticking time bomb and instead of break up with her he doubles down on her because he wants NO part in exploring what Buck truly means to him so basically Marisol truly becomes Eddie's beard. Until the bomb explodes and the truth is revealed and Eddie now cannot hide behind Marisol and he has no choice but to actually deep dive on his feelings for Buck.
The only way Buck and Eddie are going to escape this hamster wheel is if something happens between them that they cannot just simply dismiss as "brotherly" or "best friend" behavior.
First things first, yeah I'm never putting anything past Tim, that man is unhinged (derogatory) (affectionate).
I'm... not sure what you mean about "kill the core of this coupling" because like... friendship will always be the core of buddie? That's one of their greatest foundation stones and something that rings true whether their relationship is romantic or not.
Also uhhh not sure how to phrase this, but Eddie kissing Buck would be absolutely nothing similar to Buck kissing Lucy. Like there is absolutely nothing that would make the two situations directly comparable. Kissing your new coworker who flirts with you because you're both drunk on both alcohol and adrenaline, and you miss your best friend, and you're kinda unhappy in your relationship but can't really figure out why because it's good right?? Versus, kissing your best friend because..... why? Even with both of them drunk, I have a very hard time seeing that happen. It's once again something that can be fun to read about in fics, but that I don't think would work in canon.
And for the last paragraph, it's not necessarily a physical action that needs to jolt them (so many anons about them drunkenly hooking up, like I'm sorry but why is that y'all's first idea?), it's their mindset. And for that to shift it doesn't have to be a big action, it can be a straw that breaks the camel's back. A pebble that causes an avalanche. A flap of a butterfly's wings that causes a hurricane. Etc.

Your costume metas are so fun so I think your answer to this would be too. 🖤

this is such a fun ask and I've been pondering on it for a few days!!! What kind of outfit we'll see them in really depends on the location of where we get canon confirmation, as well as when it happens!!
If it happens this season, then I'm kind on hoping we'll get some colour paralleling of the lasagne scene from 6x01 - with yellow and blue being the colours worn - especially as I've been banging on about the use of yellow and blue in queer storytelling for a little while (its in so many other queer stories, especially recently) who is wearing the yellow and who is wearing the blue depends very much on who makes the first move - but I'm kind of leaning towards Buck in yellow and Eddie in blue, because I really feel the blue on Buck has bee na deliberate choice this season and is very much tied into his own healing arc, so I think once he gets to the point of being ready, we'll see him change colours in some way as the blue will have done its narrative job for him! I would quite like to see Buck in either a knit polo of some sort - as he's been wearing a lot of this season, or possibly something simialr to the grey jumper form the kitchen scene. I don't want to see him in a hoodie though - those are for when he's seeking comfort and thats not what he'd be doing in a nbuddie canon scene!
I thinkEddie in blue would be a great choice for him and we've seen it start to creep more into his wardrobe since 5x14 and in brighter tones as well. I also think seeing him in Blue would time in to a couple of interesting touchstones for his own journey - the conversation in Christophers room in 5x17 and the suit he wore to Hen and Karens vow renewal and then in season 6 we've had him in blue sleeping on the couch in 6x09 (as well as a couple of other instances) so I'd really love to see him in blue if for no other reason thang getting to see the couch metaphor play out to its full and natural conclusion!!! I either want Eddie in a traditional henley or in an open shirt and tee combo - which we've seen him wearing more often since mid 5b.
If Chris is involved in Buddie going canon in any way, I'd actually kind of like to see him in grey of some sort - possibly with a nod to whatever colours Buck and Eddie are wearing - and if they happen to be stripes, then so much the better! the reason I want to see him in grey is because its a neutral colour and because as much as Christopher is a central part in them becoming a family unit, I kind of want the buck and Eddie outfits to do all the talking - Buddie should be about buddie and not about buddifer - in much the same way that Chris was there on the fridge in the new kitchen scene - present but not a part of the scene directly, I feel a bit like that should also be the case for them getting together canonically - because they should and will be together because its what they both want for each other and themselves, and not because of Christopher (does that make sense?!!) I'd really love to see Buck wearing maroon at the moment they tell Chris they're together though - really solidifying the maroon and fatherhood aspect and coming full circle with when we've seen Buck in maroon. I'd like to see Eddie in either cream or blue for this as well -
Another reason for wanting blue and yellow is that I'd love the symmetry of their turnouts being blue and yellow and the whole connection to their jobs - it all just ties in so well together and would make me very happy!!!
Of course they could choose to parallel Athena and Bobbys first date and go with brown and blue - which I would also not be mad at, but I feel like the yellow would be a bit more interesting and fitting - especially because of all I've already said 😎
This post is either going to haunt me when I'm a million miles off, or I'm going to drag it out and be really annoying and make it everyones problem if I happen to be right!!!
