I struggled a little with the miscommunication in Gentleman's Guide, but the second hand embarrassment in Ladies Guide to Petticoats and Piracy is maybe too much actually. Like, I'm struggling to get past the middle of this book.

just realized that in lady’s guide, her two companions are kind of represented the two words in the title: petticoats (Johanna) and piracy (sim). This may have unintended consequences on the meaning of the first book’s name.
