Some books I’d recommend that feature disabled characters to read this July!

Note: I’m aware that not all everyone in every community represented on this list considers themself disabled. As an outsider, it’s not my place to say- they are included because some people in these communities do consider themselves disabled, especially with many being spectrums where different people will experience different severities.
Cosmoknights - Amputee side character (major character in book 2)
Nimona - Amputee main character
Before the Devil Knows You’re Here - Dyslexic love interest
The Spirit Bares its Teeth - Autistic main character, autistic side character
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue - Love interest with epilepsy, main character becomes deaf in one ear, MC with anxiety in the third book of the series
To Shape a Dragon’s Breath - Autistic major side character, wheelchair user minor side character
A Lady For a Duke - Love interest with PTSD
Cemetery Boys - Love interest with undiagnosed ADHD (confirmed by author)
Into the Drowning Deep - Autistic character, two Deaf characters
Don’t Be a Drag - MC with depression and anxiety
Iron Widow - Wheelchair user MC with chronic pain
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet - Little person character

idk about you but i think there's something very nice about a story's main love interest being a queer disabled person

I want to start a book club, but instead of it being one of those white women book clubs where it's just a bunch of moms drinking wine without having read the book it's a group of friends who meet up at a cabin once or twice a year and we read, and make food & crafts based off our favorite books, and watch movie/tv show adaptations of those books
y'know?

The fact that Monty and Adrian had an entire conversation about Richard Peele but Adrian failed to mention that he punched him in the face is criminal

Note
Felicity Montague, from the montague siblings series as an avatar of the eye.
Propaganda: this section from “The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy”, from the perspective of Felicity herself.

November Reading Wrap-Up
My reading was quite slow in November, probably because my general mood was pretty shit as well. November was a month of work and trying to hold myself together which didn’t leave much room for reading.
Cat Lady by Dawn O’Porter
I was expecting this to be more akin to Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder and was surprised to find it was a lot less weird and disturbing than that. This was a fun, heartwarming slice of life read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
This was my third Emily Henry book and it was such a joy to read. I think Beach Read is still my favourite so far but the chemistry between the main characters was impeccable.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Middle of the Night by Riley Sager
This was my most disappointing read of the month. The last few Riley Sager books I read were brilliant and so exciting but this one was just really slow placed. I kept waiting for the pace to pick up but it never did and it just wasn’t as thrilling as his other thrillers.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by MacKenzie Lee
After so many years, I finally finished the Montague Siblings series and I’m so glad I did because this final book was brilliant. Adrian was the most relatable main character for me out of the three and the story was just as exciting as usual.

ok this has got to be one of the most iconic ya book openings of all time. main character medically treats a friend’s sliced-off finger, rejects a marriage proposal, and accidentally forces herself to go to London while lying that her brother has syphilis

Begging any of the amazing fan artists in the TGGTVAV / Montague Siblings fandom to re-draw this photo as Percy teaching Monty to play his violin 'cause I've been going insane over it ever since I got this idea in my head and I desperately need to see it, thank you 🙏

I struggled a little with the miscommunication in Gentleman's Guide, but the second hand embarrassment in Ladies Guide to Petticoats and Piracy is maybe too much actually. Like, I'm struggling to get past the middle of this book.
