Things "The Little Mermaid" taught me as a small kid who grew up afab:

-Find a guy with a dog, they're clearly the best guys out there

-Learn to sing really well to get the cutest boy

-Don't let my dad find out who I'm in love with lest he be destroyed

-Let the royal servants of my crush dote on me when I'm found washed up on the shore; that dress is the cutest

-Electric eels are the absolute worst

-Horses are very large and I'm now afraid of carriages

-Seagulls make great friends to crash a wedding with

-Learning how to steer a ship will help me defeat evil by stabbing a giant sea monster with the pointy bit up front

A portrait study using one of the citizens of Tempest Star. Unlike most marine animals on Earth, The Wrasse Sirens are known for having both gills and a nose. This allows them to breathe both on land and on water though, researchers wonder the purpose of such peraphillia as they don't wander onto land often.

Another notable feature are their tattoos. Though it seems that that the sirens are born with the tattoos at birth and acquire more as they age. Researchers have yet to find a specimen old enough that is littered in tattoos.

Notice the pale blue-purplish pigment on the ears, nose and neck? Wrasse Sirens have purple blood. However, acquiring samples for blood testing is proving to be extremely difficult as it is a religious taboo to draw blood.

Ariel's Legs

She started to wonder Musing on the subject of a certain mermaid Who desired legs

To be human

Specifically, she wondered if there was more

Her father, for his love, could be stifling Suffocating, controlling

If anything, at times, She wished she were a mermaid A siren, a bird, a fish, anything else

She had to wonder if there was more

Did Ariel desire to be human because she was in love? That's what the film said, anyways

Or did she want to be human because she wanted to be free? She'd muse

The mermaid wanted to be human Most humans have legs but with her father's behaviors Maybe there was more

In musing, there's juxtaposition

The mermaid wanted to be human While, she, a human, would rather be something else The only thing in common

Were their father's being who they were And how much it hurt them.

My Musings on “The Little Mermaid”

Every now and again, I find myself revisiting The Little Mermaid, specifically, with the dynamic betwixt Ariel and Triton. 

I had my own King Triton (my father, if you’re not aware) to contend with and, frankly, while I do understand Triton to a degree, I feel like much of the plotline was his fault. 

When one is so overprotective and controlling, one might end pushing your kids away and or into situations that they either could have needed one’s help or, worse, directly into the arms of the dangers one was trying hard to protect them from. 

A thing to note is how quickly Ursula was able to take advantage of the situation. If his actions didn’t send Ariel into such a vulnerable state, maybe she wouldn’t have leapt at the opportunity to get away from the sea, pulling away.

Home Idle 1: It may have merely been a dream, but it was a wonderful experience to be able to climb so many mountains. I feel as though I would be able to utilize the knowledge I gleaned there for hiking in the real world.

Home Idle 2: Perhaps I should simply do as I please in the real world as well. To tell you the truth, I do tend to hold myself back.

Home Idle 3: In the end, my merform definitely feels more comfortable and easier to move around in. If I were to put a finger on one inconvenience, it would be that I cannot go mountain climbing.

Home Idle - Login: Who would have ever imagined we could traverse into other people's dreams... Such a venture could reveal someone's inner most secrets purely by accident!

Home Idle - Groovy: It would not behoove me to bring Azul or Floyd on a mountain hike on land. It could bring dire consequences if I were to bring those uninitiated to the possible perils.

Home Tap 1: A majority of merfolk tend to spend their entire lives in familiar waters. It seems fear of the unknown world outweighs any possible allure...

Home Tap 2: Ever since Floyd came to my dream, he has been giving me an icy look. Is this what they call a rebellious phase?

Home Tap 3: What was I like in Floyd's dream? We weren't together...? I see, well, that seems very like him.

Home Tap 4: Ah, I am beginning to miss the mountains. I may end up purchasing those hiking boots I have been eyeing once we return to the surface.

Home Tap 5: You wish to know if you were in my dream? Why yes, of course. Similar to Floyd and Azul, you appeared looking just as you normally do.

Home Tap - Groovy: Fufu, how many years has it been since we had a proper sibling squabble? In the end, fighting with Floyd is, as always, thrilling and entertaining.
