Why does every single thing that shows some modicum of women having agency and even perhaps power has to be first rendered through the layers of "ugh, this was a feminist girl boss move"

Yes, and? It is actually a great thing that in a franchise where there are very few female characters they give the few ones there are something more to do? It is actually great to show women in fiction having power and agency and magic and doing cool shit.

Nova Galaxy and Indigo Glory

Doctor, apothecary, babysitter, all things that describe Nova, and none she would deny. She was given the opportunity to study not only new diseases, and the stars on New Dawn, but also get the heck away from the big city that she was forced to stay in for work. She's a very anti-social ewe with not a want for a big group of friends, however, she adores kids/fawns/foals. This job would have been perfect, if not for the fact that her "little" brother seemed to have the same idea with coming to the new world. After the "incident" Nova wanted nothing to do with him... However, she guessed it was better to try and be cordial for the sake of survival.

Indigo, however, was thrilled to see his "big" sister again! After being told by his commanding officer that he would be stationed at this very new post, he was expecting to never see any of his family again. To see someone he not only knew, but was once close with, gave him some semblance of comfort. Too bad she seems rather cold and distant from him. Whatever, he has work to do, the fort militia is an unorganized mess, the natives (Alo and animal alike) seem a bit too hostile, and there seems to be magic stirring that is too ancient to comprehend... the ram's got a lot on his plate, and he's only one person.

The final candidates for the Heart of the Hero, they shall make for Just and Selfless Hearts.

You know what, I am unbothered by disputes in TXF fandom because I have been here since almost time immemorial, longer than a goodly number of you have been alive, and I will be here at the end of time when the universe cools, listening to “Walking After You” as everything goes stiff and cold.  I have forgotten more thoughts about Mulder and Scully and the rest of the crew than most people have even had, and I have written and written and written until these blorbos are engraved in my bones.  Look for me in the deep places; find me at the wellspring writing with water on slates.  Listen for me on the wind, whispering “fuuuuuuuck chris carterrrrrrrrr.”
