Latest Writing Blog Post is Live: March 2024

Kept me about two weeks to write the darn thing, but my "March" blog update is officially live. Here's hoping you have a beverage, some food, and you're comfortable, because this one is a doozy!

What could I POSSIBLY talk about for an HOUR'S worth of reading!?

Well, for one, I ACTUALLY WROTE SOME NARRATIVE PROSE! First time in, like, 10 months!

All thanks to getting back into reading, via Comikey and Webtoon.

I take up a LOOOOOT of time recapping the MULTITUDE of isekai manhwas I started reading in March.

I recap 5 different Webtoon Originals, 1 Webtoon Canvas, and 1 manga I'm reading on Comikey.

It's a LOT, but I hope it gets you as excited as I am about these stories. (Does include spoilers for the start of each of the recapped stories)

Finally, I of course talk about the actual writing I've been working on. I'm super excited to keep going and maybe actually have a nice handful of new stories for you fine folks throughout this year! 😁

I highly encourage every aventurine fan to step back and criticize the fact that hoyoverse decided to make Romani culture as the basis for his character and took aspects from history like discrimination, slavery, and even the stereotypes as story notes for a fictional planet named after a Romani slur.

This isn't the first time a gacha game let alone hoyo have pulled shit like this. Fgo, genshin, arknights, and probably several more that I've never played. Stay vigilant of this and listen to the people who are most impacted by this.

I am not Romani so I encourage you to check out Florian on youtube, he's talked about aventurine already. Check out the discussion in the comments too

like why do ppl have so little faith in childe im 😭 like if you ask me hes Already giving indication of defying his fate in a multitude of ways (vision malfunction being a big one) so personally i simply think we need to let him do his thing and see where he goes with it . i have faith in him like if Anyones abt to subvert the fate hes been set up with be it due to his name or any other reason . its gonna be him lmao

I would adopt Jack Spicer. I would support his evil schemes specifically because they were his only form or regular socialization. I'd be like, "When are all of your little friends coming over?" and he would be like, "You mean my ENEMIES who I am trying to DESTROY!?" and I'd say, "Oh you're so imaginative sweetie 😊" and he'd say, "please stop letting my mortal enemies into my evil lair" and I'd be like "I made this zucchini bread for them, make sure you give it to them next time you see them" and he'd be like "okay" and then he would eat the entire zucchini bread by himself.

#but secretly i made two loafs of zucchini bread and I invited the xiaolin monks over to pick up the other one #and thus his evil schemes would be thwarted once again #ultimate goal is to get them to come over and play video games when they aren't battling for the fate of the world #i see several xiaolin showdowns in person and I keep pretending that I dont notice anything mystical or strange going on #just like #Wow you kids are so creative! thinking about the headcanon that after the Arishok fight Meredith has leverage over Hawke due to them being outed as a mage.

thinking about Secret trying her hardest to win the duel without using any magic at all, and when she does fall back on it, using the subtlest spells she has, ones that you wouldn't visually recognize as magic unless you know where to look

(Meredith knows where to look. Meredith has been looking for a while. and even if she wasn't, a templar will always sense a mage reaching for the Fade)

...but maybe Secret does succeed. maybe she's careful enough and well liked enough that putting her away based on Templar Sense alone would stir too much unrest.

(but her friends don't have the same luxury)

(the healer who rushes to her side as soon as the Arishok falls, putting his hands over the gaping wound in her stomach. if Meredith searches his clinic, will she not find lyrium? will she not find a staff?)

(the Dalish elf who shoves the healer away, kneeling over Hawke, touching the side of her face with a bloodstained hand, chanting - or singing? - or praying? - something in Elven. if Meredith searches her home in the Alienage, will she not find things an elf definitely shouldn't have?)

day 4: backstory character

kei is a fun character. i initially made my purple bastard to be hiroyasu's dead wife motivation but thought it would be funnier if he were alive. for an l5r campaign, i made kei to be hiroyasu's reason for joining the jade magistrate, which was to find his childhood best friend/soulmate kei who had nearly been killed by an oni. kei was heavily tainted by the fight and started becoming one of the lost. kei desperately wants revenge on the oni that did this to him, and hiroyasu has to hunt kei before he becomes a monster. hiroyasu feels he let kei down for getting tainted in the first place, and kei feels that hiroyasu betrayed him by abandoning him in the immediate aftermath (IT'S COMPLICATED)

at the very least, i enjoy writing a character who is suffering from a literal zombie brainrot that's turning him more aggressive and irrational!

but it's my yearly oc-tober tradition of drawing the hiro/kei divorce hour

the more i read abt lucanis the more i realize just how insane it is that he & lleyth were literally like. RIGHT THERE. like two ships passing in the night. so intrinsically woven into each others' backstories and being none the wiser etc etc
