When you give your most beloved person in the world all of his pain back and his humanity with it and you know it’s gonna be painful so you try to make it as gentle as possible

Little things from the end of Fool’s Fate:
Fitz opens the package and scroll that Beloved left for him in private. He doesn’t even touch them when Chade brings them out.
The scroll was the poem (Last Dance of Chances) and a farewell. Is this ‘farewell’ a full letter or just the word? He doesn’t elaborate.
He assumes that Beloved did not have a change of heart. I think this is when he officially stuffs his grief down deep.
When he goes to put them away, he refers to them as ‘treasures.’ He cherishes them!
He puts the wooden carving of Nighteyes Beloved made, and the memory stone on his workroom hearth.
The memory stone is turned so that Nighteyes is faced out. He is hiding the Fool even from himself.
In the epilogue, Fitz feels their story is unfinished. He will never know a bond like he had with Beloved again and he sees this as a good thing. How lucky he was have someone like that in his life, even for a limited time.
He is living the life that Beloved foresaw as their last prophecy. It was always so so important to Beloved that their prophecies be taken seriously, even the ones that hurt the most. But knowing that Fitz would have a happy life kept Beloved going, even through the worst of the torture.
I’m crying right now goodbye

Deeply amused that after Civil brings up his suspicion that Fitz and the Fool are lovers and they both deny it, Fitz then promptly spends the night in the Fool’s tent.

I absolutely loved the conservative grandpa vs grandson’s liberal boyfriend dynamic that Chade and the Fool had in Tawny Man. One of the funniest subplots in the whole series
The Fool would grab Fitz’s arm and Chade would be staring at them with vitriol intense as seven suns on his face, only to then convince Fitz to do his bidding and grin at the Fool grinding his teeth in a corner… peak comedic relief

men will literally say my dream was dead in my arms about their bestie and then resurrect them in the gayest way possible and then hold them as close as a lover through the night and not feel like less of a man because of it. then they’ll kiss next the next chapter
