Awakened Darkspawn Rook

I've been wanting BioWare to reintroduce the Awakened Darkspawn from Awakening and they KEEP CUTTING IT, DAMN IT! Anyway, because I am insane, this thought train led to a DLC for Veilguard where the 7th faction is "The Awakened", you are an awakened darkspawn. Romance is disabled (6 of them would die, the 7th would rather die), outside of the lighthouse you are usually either in a helmet or face covering of some kind, and there are unique interactions with various factions. ----------------- Davrin: "Mind telling me why you smell like Darkspawn" Unique response: 'It's not what you think..... It's not QUITE what you think." ----------------- First Warden: "I won't listen to the ravings of one of the Architect's cast-offs. My duty is clear, and your threat is over now!" (then saved by Dorian) -----------------

At Weisshaupt: Unique Dialogue: "There are darkspawn here fighting the darkspawn even with an archdemon in play, things have clearly changed!"

Okay because it's not obvious- this is for the Frogwares game "Sherlock Holmes The Awakened". Basically- a cosmic horror/cthluhu centric mystery starring Holmes and Watson! It's fantastic and these doodles are actually based on my experience playing the game! In a few of these, John is my friends who joined me on a call to watch! It was great I had so much fun.

Now to clarify the first doodle- the reason I swapped the name to "AJ Raffles" is by the fact that like, Sherlock Holmes as a fictional character cannot exist if he's a real person! It's just a little thing that made me laugh lol.

Seriously though- this game was great I loved every minute. If you're worried about Frogwares bugginess, don't be, the remake is really easy to play and I had a great time.

If I had a nickel for every time I was excited to play a brand new remake of a game about a traumatized young man who has to uncover the secrets behind a religious, human sacrificial cult that worships ancient monsters, all while still having time to make quips and foster homoerotic tension between himself and his partner, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, it's just weird it's happening twice

oh my GOD the way sherlock HAS to say all of it was real

love also that he waits to watch the wave. it can’t be all lip service. yes its implied throughout that he does in fact believe it but what an ironclad way to solidify that

deeply attached to the endgame being watson stopping the ritual while sherry stalls one guy and does a lot of soul searching this is perfect this is exactly what i wanted frogwares giving me everything ive ever needed

watson, known doctor, does NOT take any medical supplies or equipment from the asylum. sherlock, known addict, already afraid his mind is fraying, does. has to, cannot get past the guard without it. notably only uses a single syringe to knock out the guard while 4 are seen in the cabinet before he takes any and zero are left when he’s done.

despite two different syringe object models in the game its the sturdy ones that show up in the end sequence 👀👀👀

was initially thrown off by watson being in color in the mind palace it made me wonder if there was gonna be a reveal that he was also to some extent a figment of sherlock’s imagination but you know what i like it actually. yeah i AM always paying attention to watson even when i’m recreating events. watson IS the heart and soul and moral compass that i am orienting myself to even while hammering out the details of the case. i WON’T forget that the point of solving the case is to help, not just to have the answers cuz my living breathing reminder of it is right there, jumping out of the unimportant surroundings

sherlock achieving peak bitch energy with “nice to put a filthy, sweaty name to a face” immediately turning around and trying to save the cult leader. we love. i like that he’s Like That i love that he fundamentally cares that he’s doing as much damage reduction as possible the GROWTH from telling vogel he’s nothing but a messenger for the truth and how that truth is perceived doesn’t matter to constantly reminding watson they have to look out for the worshipers and being kind when speaking to Davy/reasserting he’s a strong kid and getting the truth of the relationship from Lucy as gently as possible. we love to see it.

A spoiler free review of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened 2023 from the perspective of a Holmesian gamer.

No secret that Frogware’s Holmes has been one of my favorite incarnations ever, even as they change him up from time to time. This game got its hooks (er… tentacles) into me and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. Finished it on launch day in about 10 hours and then went back for achievements. I still need to max out the bonuses and do a full replay on hard mode (I’ll be posting that one in full).

In short: awesome game.
