2x15 “tall tales”

So, we all know Dean has bad habits with food he’s shown to constantly be eating throughout supernatural. Which is his trauma response when it comes to food due to never having enough as a kid/giving what they did have to Sam, now I’m watching 2x15 and noticed this.

Dean seems to genuinely not know what is wrong with the food he has in the fridge, but there’s also to me at least some sort of guilt there?? Kinda like a oh fuck don’t say anything expression.

Dean definitely seems hurt by sams words, combatting it with the fact he “likes” it, having rotten food in the fridge. Now the whole context to this conversation is Sam being tired of deans laziness and inability to keep clean, yet the guilt and that almost hurt on deans face? That’s the face of someone getting caught food hoarding. Which is another trauma response to negligence in childhood that involves never having enough food/never knowing when your next meal is going to be, Dean is a food hoarder. As someone who has struggled & still struggles with it, I noticed immediately.

I think after regaining command of his grace, Gabriel should've been forced to work alongside Asmodeus for a little while. Not because I necessarily want Gabriel to suffer, but because I think it would've been fun if this show made somebody other than Sam work with their abuser once in a while.

i'm rewatching spn and the whole swan song and soulless sam arc makes me so emotional. dean loses his brother to hell, fulfills his promise of living the apple pie life with lisa and not bringing sam back from the cage, and spends every waking second of the next year mourning sam. and what he gets in return is finding out his brother (who's not quite his brother anymore) returned from the cage on the same day he arrived, and spent the next year without telling dean he was alive. and then dean finds out that sam's soul has been tortured by lucifer in the cage for the last hmm about few thousand years. and they will never be the same.

i am a believer that supernatural should have ended after season 5. i do love the later seasons but swan song would have made the perfect ending. and in a way it was very similar to the actual ending of the show; one of the brothers dying and making the other promise stay alive and live the picket-fence dream and not bring them back.

Has Destiel been confirmed AGAIN?

710 felt like a collective fan fiction of S19 by the writers. Maybe this was the finale they deserved and 709 was that for the fans (at least it was to me, personally). Maybe the scenes could work as flash forward scenes after the fire, but maybe not during? It took me out of it.

As a fan, I wished that it might have been something like that…

The cliffhanger for Marina actually paid off. That Carina going back to the scene meant seeing Maya. Like we speculated about Maya collapsing when Carina was about to break the news then she resuscitated Maya. Another missed emotional scene we could have had. The foreshadowing of the focus on the 2 pregnancy test kits could have been a scene in the actual delivery room, seeing the twins. Maybe Andy was even present after that conversation. Or Mama Bishop.

Maybe we see Carina opening her clinic… Maybe Maya became a captain at another station and she met up with Andy and talked about their stations, how they wanted to run 19 together… Maybe she brought Liam along, cos we haven’t really seen him with Tia Andy… Maybe even a guy at the next table at the cafe was smiling at Andy, suggesting the start of something… (I was thinking of the conversation of one of the first episodes when they were outdoors and Maya was jogging…). Kinda a nod to where they started…

Ben would be back on GA so that’s ok… I was thinking maybe we see Jack with Marsha, his foster sister and his bio siblings… to at least complete his arc about his found family and show something about his life after being an active firefighter.

The ending for Vic and Travis felt right for me. Seeing Dean was a nice tribute to his character and a full circle moment for their friendship and a program that he started. The museum scene could even be the actual flash forward where we see Travis with Dominic. Vic needed something fresh that excited her and she could continue to do what she was good at. Travis finally moved on to be in a stable relationship, but not without his bff. Moving out of the house he shared with Michael and out of the city with so much grief felt right for him too.

Tully's wedding, Tully doing something for the veterans, Jinny getting together with Beckett, Theo working as fire inspector could also work in the montage.

Maybe they all meet up sometime in the future and they caught up with one another, ending with them all smiling…

Rewatching 1x20 of spn

I hate that smirk sam puts on when John gives out to Dean after Sam questions him.

Worth pointing out... Dean is a soldier.

In this episode, 5x03, he came all this way expecting to die with Cas facing an archangel, which is the thing he may arguably be the most afraid of in this particular moment (with the recent stuff with Lucifer, Michael, etc)

...all because Cas asked.

Dean's used to risking his life for loved ones, friends, and fellow hunters all the damn time. Like... the sad thing IS that when it comes to risking his life for others? It hardly registers.

Back in 2x20, we saw that when faced with happiness, Dean remembered John's "heroic" example.

DEAN: It's like my old life is, is coming after me or something. Like it like it doesn't want me to be happy. Course I know what you'd say. Well, not the you that played softball but... "So go hunt the Djinn. He put you here, it can put you back. Your happiness for all those people's lives, no contest. Right?" But why? Why is it my job to save these people? Why do I have to be some kind of hero? (begins to cry while talking) What about us, huh?

It's what most, nearly all (?), of the soldier-coded characters tend to do. I think too of Mary in Apocalypse-word. The sad part is that, in many ways, the real Mary is even more of a soldier than John was.

MARY: (looking uncomfortable) I, uh...Boys, um...About that. [Dean and Sam look at their mother, confused. Mary sighs.] MARY: I’m not going back. DEAN: I’m sorry. What? MARY: I fought beside these people. I respect them. I respect their cause. You can’t expect me to just abandon them. SAM: No, Mom, that’s not -- You heard what Lucifer said. We have 31 hours -- MARY: I -- Sam...Dean...I know what you went through to come find me. [Dean scoffs at that. He is obviously upset.] MARY: But these people are being slaughtered. They need me here. DEAN: (getting angry) No, we need you, Mom. We do.

How often/When do you think Cas watched Dean without him (and us) knowing?

Like I just rewatched episode 4x15 "Death Takes a Holiday" and it made me think about that because when Cas tells Dean:

Just before this scene there is this dialogue:

CASTIEL: What just happened? You and Sam just saved a seal. We captured Alastair. Dean, this was a victory.

DEAN: Well, no thanks to you.

CASTIEL: What makes you say that?

DEAN: You were here the whole time?

CASTIEL: Enough of it.

This means Cas watched them doing all the work without Dean (and us and Sam) knowing, at least until he says it. And of course there is also episode 6x20 "The Man Who Would Be King" with the famous scene of Cas looking at Dean in Bobby's kitchen saying that the worst part was...

Also, every time he watched him sleep (4x03 "In The Beginning" Cas sitting on the edge of the bed / 8x10 "Torn and Frayed" Dean startling on the couch because he sensed a presence and spilling his beer / 8x08 "Hunteri Heroici" Cas suggesting the idea of watching over them while they sleep).

But those scene are the only time Cas watched Dean without him knowing THAT WE KNOW OF. What about those we don't? Do you have some ideas of when this could have happened again? A scene in particular? Let me know because I want my mind to be blown.

Wait, is there a fic about that? I'm sure there is. Like Cas watching over Dean across seasons (at least until he can't fly anymore. But, wait, can he hide from people without his wings? That's a real question. Like can he spy on people without being seen once his wings are broken?) It could be a fic with Cas's POV and dialogues when Dean surprises him. Wait, I need to stop. I'm just writing my thoughts as they come to me but this post wasn't supposed to be this long. Sorry...
