3. In your opinion, what’s your best fic?

honestly, probably the really short Mia-centric fic i wrote for spring_renewal (blood on the roots).

this answer does feel a little like cheating tho bc, at least in my experience, it's a lot easier to wrangle short fiction. out of the longer fics i've written i'd go with pt1 of spirit hat, bc while i feel that my writing has improved since i wrote it, it's also the one with the tightest narrative.

It was simply one of those nights, where Yuta's head was filled with thoughts, thoughts that made it difficult to sleep due to the worries that laced onto them. Anxiety could be a real pain and so could insomnia, which already made it hard to fall asleep, so this didn't help at all. The darkness underneath the youth's eyes showed as much. Suddenly hearing footsteps nearing, royal blue depths focused in the direction, only to spot familiar features poking through his partly opened door. The sight made a small smile grace fair lips as Yuta's eyes crinkled at the corners, showing that he didn't mind the other here at all, even if he was surprised to see Toge awake at this hour.

Questions for Problematic/Villain muses!

3. What's an inherently problematic view your character holds? ---A/Bel is fundamentally inhuman, so its difficult to answer this as it ultimately doesn't really hold views that humans could hope to understand. Many villains are driven by something easily comprehensible to the human mind; love, power, safety--things everyone of us has felt at least once in our lives. A/Bel, though, is a demonic entity. It doesn't care about any of the things we care about and doesn't have any human motives--it can't. To it, humans are material to be used; meat. Hell--to say A/Bel views humans as a human views something like a cow is even an overstatement; humans are inherently compassionate--we are loving, we feel sympathy when we look into an animal's eyes, even if we've consumed it at a prior time. A/Bel is incapable of this, it doesn't have the necessary function in its mind to have that same level of connection. It can understand why that connection exists, but only in the same way a computer program understands code. It cannot feel it, it can only have the knowledge of it. To A/Bel, humans are like ants being paved over for new sidewalk--our deaths are inconsequential to it and it's sole purpose is to devour, to eat.

That was somewhat long winded, but I think its important to explain that speaking in human terms of morality-- everything A/Bel does is inherently problematic. It manipulated and used its knowledge of the human psyche to exploit a grieving child before securing said child as a food source until death--and even then it will not let go. It dons aesthetics that, at the very end, will fade into nothing too; and those aesthetics only have one purpose--to give its vessel the slowly dwindling hope that a human could ever connect with it. That the weeks, months, years, and entire lifetimes MEANT something to it; right? Otherwise why would it stick around? But it doesn't...and its impossible.

Robin, in himself, is the representation of how in the grand enormity of a compassionless existence--we do not matter to beings that fall outside of our own way of thinking. To any human, Robin's story is deeply traumatizing and horrendous, it naturally incites compassion and the want to protect. To a creature like A/Bel? Robin's vulnerability is the perfect nesting ground to burrow, and a canvas to create even more horror within...and everything about that is wrong.

9. What's a line your muse won't cross under any circumstance? ---Since I already sort of answered this above for A/Bel, I'll instead answer it for its aesthetic, Abel. Despite being a human disguise Abel still intensely lacks the ability to feel remorse or guilt--however he thrives in an environment where he can feed off of the companionship around him. To do this--he needs Robin to be alive, and he will do anything to keep him alive. It's been said multiple times over that when Robin was living Abel and him had a very cordial and pleasant relationship(even if it was fake)--and Abel would never do anything that could put his vessel in danger unless he was sure he could resolve it with little risk. Abel emulated empathy quite well, keeping Robin safe, happy, and Abel would never do anything that could actually bring him close to a point of death.

There was only one time it failed to do this...and that day "Abel" died too.

4) what inspired you to craft?

In general, I think it's a desire to connect with other people. Many people in my family are crafters; they either taught me some of what I know or passed on some of their crafting tools. Beyond that, I've always been big into history, and crafting is just a fascinating way to explore & connect with the past too. I like finding out how people did/are doing various crafts; it's just a constant source of new things to try.

💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

I'm tempted to say formatting!

I love writing when I have a clear-cut way to structure it, and that structure often makes it easier to write and can make the story overall feel smooth.

Probably my favorite example is in my fic Project Polarization, where I structured the story by going between egglogs where Eggman is talking about his big evil plan, and watching the plan play out with Sonic (Sonic's Christmas To-Do List was also great! A to-do list was a great structure!)

Obviously I don't always want my stories to have a clear cut structure to them, but I have a lot of fun when they do, and it most certainly makes it easier to write low-stakes one shots!

Also characters! The characters make the story and the characters should drive the story! That's the philosophy I live by c:

She was just so sick, and it was all so sudden. What else was there to be done? Nobody knows what struck Honeyspring ill so swiftly or with such brutal lethality, not even Tanglefern (but he is also a liar).

Desecration;

He wedged the cutter just under the skin, and pried the walls of her womb apart, glistening with watery wetness and slick with blood. Fluids sunk into the dirt flooring of the medicine den, reeking of disease, but Tanglefern pushed forward. He was not gentle, but he did not have to be. They knew that when she took that last heaving breath not even an hour ago, she was gone.

There was no patient to be gentle for, just a cooling corpse.

And so he ripped and tore until he could wrap his mouth around each little neck, a total of three. When he felt no more of the doomed litter, he stopped and took the time to finally glance at the little bodies sitting at his paws, sticky like honey.

He looked, and saw with rising despair, that they didn't look like kits at all. He could hear the rain pounding outside through the ringing in his ears, a thundering roar.

As he stared at those things that were not quite kits, those vague lumps of wet fur and teeth, Flaildrizzle wailed. Distantly, some raw part of him, carved open like the body before him, realizes it was all for nothing.

It's been a while since I came up with that idea and I can't seem to find my notes on it (I found like 15 other half forgotten AUs instead oops) but I'm pretty sure it came from some discussion with Flora.

The basic idea is that everything happens just as it does in canon and Quackity goes to torture Dream. This is where things get sketchy because as I said, this is a 100 % crack idea so ... what if Quackity just somehow managed to fuck up every single torture attempt?

I really wish I could find my notes on this because I know I had some specific ideas written down but let's go with what I remember. During the first visit I think he might've just underestimated Dream who in spite of being in the prison for a while now was still able to dodge Quackity and maybe even disarm him or something just it ends up with Sam having to interfere.

But it's okay! Quackity's got it! It was just a ... a minor inconvenience, nothing more. But ... things are just not working out during his second visit either, nor during the third one or the fourth one.

Dream is totally not giving fuck about what Quackity wants and for the sake of crack Quackity just miserably fails in all his attempts to torture Dream in the most ridiculous ways possible.

Like, he will get his axe stuck in the obsidian and can't pull it out, he drops a harming potion and hits himself instead of Dream, he sets himself on fire on accident (that lava wall had no business being over there!), he fails to realize that Dream is actually good in strategic games and his plan to hurt Dream for losing a game fails when the game drags on for way too long (bonus points if he loses somehow). Just some very weird (and hopefully somewhat funny) stuff happens.

Some time he doesn't even get to try his hand at torture because he gets carried away with wedding preparation and all (just imagine him forcing Dream help with choosing the decorations or something lol)

After his fight with Karl Dream is forced to be the therapist (he has no escape while Quackity cries about the state of his relationship), least to say Dream is very confused why Quackity thought he is the right person to ask about the relationship problems (srsly Q have you seen the state of his relationships???)

At this point Dream himself might try to give him tips, look he is not a fan of getting tortured but this is just sad, okay?

Perhaps he will manage to actually hurt Dream at some point but by then I think he would be too used to failing that it actually freaks him out more than it freaks out Dream himself. Least to say the rest of the "session" was spend fretting over Dream because god man you're bleeding! Dream is just there like ... isn't this what you wanted? And well yeah but also no! (Q has some very mixed feelings)

Overall though I think Q would maim himself in that cell more than he ever did to Dream. On accident of course. I never figured out the logistics of this one but it'd be hella funny if Q somehow managed to idk cut of his own finger or something of the sort which would just end up with him freaking out and Dream having to try to calm him down while also calling for Sam to bring a healing potion

I know that it's supper cannon inaccurate but it's really just a crack idea without any real plot behind it 😅
