Rain pelted down in relentless sheets, soaking you to the bone. The city around you was eerily silent, the empty streets offering unspoken permission to move forward. But as you lingered just behind him at the crosswalk, the air felt charged, crackling with something unseen.

He took a step forward.

Before you could think, before reason could intervene, you moved. As if possessed by the strength of Athena herself, your fingers curled into his shirt, fisting the fabric tight. With a sharp pull, you wrenched him back, your breath coming fast, your pulse pounding.

Simon wrenched back a step, twisting his body with sharp precision, flipping his grip in an instant. His fingers clamped around your forearm, iron-strong and unyielding. You gasped, wincing at the bite of his hold, but all you could focus on were his cerulean eyes—cold, calculating, hungry. The rest of his face remained hidden behind the black KN95 mask, a barrier that somehow made him even more unreadable. More dangerous.

A car whizzed past, blaring its horn, but the world had already narrowed to just the two of you.

"Ow, fucker!" You yank your arm free and slapped him hard with your other hand. The crack of skin against skin echoed through the air. Your palm stung. His head barely shifted. Instead, his brow lifted, a slow, amused rise. It hadn’t hurt him. Not really. But the effort? Adorable.

You were a feisty little thing—he saw it in your eyes, felt it in the way you shook. He wouldn’t mind molding that fire into something entirely his. Breaking you down, building you back up.

His silence stretched between you, thick and suffocating. Unease crawled up your spine.

"Okay… I’m done," you muttered, taking a shaky step back. "Last time I ever help someone."

You turned, ready to put this strange moment behind you, but Simon reacted on instinct. His hand snapped out, engulfing your wrist, and with one firm pull, you stumbled into him. His body was solid, unmovable, and you fit against him as if you were always meant to be there. The realization sent a shiver down your spine.

"Done?" His voice was low, amused. Dangerous.

His fingers brushed over your lips, silencing any protest. Your breath hitched.

This wasn’t good.

"Love," he murmured, his eyes burning into yours.

"We’ve only just begun."

My current thoughts on Maiko and Zutara as a former hardcore Maiko shipper.

In retrospect, the reason I felt so strongly about Maiko is that Mai goes against patriarchal ideas of what makes “a good woman,” yet Zuko accepted her for who she is.

My former frustration with Zutara wasn’t about Zutara itself- it was about demonizing Mai as an undesirable woman because how she expresses her femininity isn’t palatable.

Mai doesn’t force herself to be bright and cheery. She knows it isn’t her responsibility to manage other people’s emotions. She speaks her mind unapologetically. She despises the way her individuality and agency are stripped away in the name of upholding societal norms of what a nobleman’s daughter should be like. Her character emphasizes the importance of individualism.

In contrast, while Katara is very much a feminist, she does fit into the classical idea of femininity much more than Mai does.

Katara is motherly and nurturing. She will go to lengths to protect others’ feelings even at her own expense. She is expressive, outwardly affectionate, and sentimental. Her character is more focused on her relationships with others and her community.

And so, I always saw Maiko vs Zutara as “this character who does not fit the traditional mold of what makes a good woman is a bad love interest. This other female character who does fit that mold deserves the male interest so much more.”

Maiko drives home the point that it’s others who should try to understand these women who deviate from societal expectations instead of pressuring those women to mold themselves into someone they’re not.

Criticizing Maiko by saying Mai is too dour and bland for Zuko sounded awfully close to “you would be prettier if you smiled more” comments. Especially because Mai was raised in a strict household obsessed with image- I can picture Michi telling her “Mai, if you want to attract a good suitor you have to act this way!”

I was never anti-Zutara, I was anti-Mai slander. So, while I still enjoy Maiko, I now causally ship Zutara in the sense of “I think their dynamic is cool and they had potential”

There are so many experiences to have, so many people to meet, everything we do is a small segment of our story. This is one of the reasons I like Snape. He never stops being a selfish, petty asshole. He is never a good man; but he has lived an entire life without Lily whereas James, Sirius (and I suppose to a certain extent, Remus too. We never really see him as his own person since it's all through Tonks's pining and 13 yr old Harry isn't really a good judge of character.) Anyways, Sirius and with good reason is trapped as the man who broke down laughing when understanding the length of Peter's betrayal. He spent the next years in Azkaban- mostly hiding as a dog and with the Dementors constantly reliving the the betrayal/nightmares. Peter does grow up, yes, and the man he becomes is a Death Eater. He might have been bullied into taking the Mark but he certainly chooses to embrace it. But SEVERUS. Sev grows. He was sent to spy on Albus and yes he's blackmailed into being a double agent but we see his growth. He cares about his job, his students (CoS having him flinch when Ginny disappears is still my favorite.) He was a coward, begging Albus to hear him out, but when given the offer- he's ready and prepared. He does rail against what Albus entrusts him to do ("has it ever crossed your mind, I don't want to do this anymore?") but still does what's expected of him. Hell, he even gives Cissy the assurance Draco won't be harmed for no other reason then he saw a chance he offer her comfort. Yes, he hides during the year he is Headmaster and lets the Carrows run the school but fights where he can, while helping Harry and the school. And he as he dies, he still continues to keep his eye on the goal and end game. The kid we see tearing up grass and whining at Lily could never. ...thank you for coming to my ted talk

i’m all about any band au with marauders, but for some reason i have a special soft spot for sirius, the lead singer, who’s not rocking a mick jagger/david bowie vibe, but more of a stevie nicks/florence welch kinda look

it’s great with cis man sirius, but it works even cooler if he’s trans or genderfluid. like, i’m lowkey obsessed with sirius rocking messy long curls, cool makeup, fringed shawls, corset tops, ruffled skirts, and fingerless gloves

i also think he'd look amazing with a tambourine. and in a relationship with this incredible bassist, remus (even better if it’s like, a super early marriage they got into while working on their, let’s say, second album, you know?). like, they’re completely head over heels for each other, and on stage, sirius just can’t stay away from remus. he’s always acting like he’s messing with the strings of remus’ bass guitar, but really, he’s just leaning in to giggle with him in the middle of the show

just stopping by to say junior did absolutely amazing in the scene with the mother! faifa looked devastated hearing her explanation and then revealing she was moving away, and nobody even noticed faifa's expressions, he just nodded along - the person who is always there for others, but someone who never prioritizes his own feelings - he looked like his whole world just collapsed, but once again letting yotha have his emotional breakthrough was more important to him than to deal with his own disappointment. while yotha has always dealt with his trauma with anger and by pushing others away, faifa just absorbed everyone's emotions around him with a smile on his face. eventually all the bottled up anger and sadness will catch up to him and i'm guessing it won't be pretty.

i cannot wait to see what more junior has in store for us for faifa's storyline. yes, we love funny junior but i have high hopes that faifa's emotional trauma will be properly unpacked and handled with care.

perthsanta absolutely crushed their roles as yothagun and if today's ep was any indication of what juju will do to us in his emotional scenes, we're truly in for a ride.
