my spreadsheet (public version)
so i have this spreadsheet that i use for prompts for this fandom, comprised of several prompt lists and the exact order of which is not easily publicly available. if you want to send me a prompt, send me a ship and a number between 1-725 (subject to change) and receive a sort of mystery box surprise of a fic. through the use of this list, you can see what prompts have already been done. if it’s for another ship, you can certainly send me the same prompt that was already used in another fic. if a prompt has been used three times, that prompt will be closed. thank you for your cooperation <3 listing under the cut!
possible progress statuses: prompted, in progress, editing, posted. if a prompt does not have one of these statuses, it has not been sent in thus far.

Note
Alright then, btw what I'm about to tell is from a small note book his sister gave before I left my friends house when I went to check on him yesterday. Which is good for I already seen I have forgotten quite a bit more then I remeber about the au.
But anyway on to the stuff shall we?
So for starters lets start with the report that the science department left after the experiment was done. I'll try to be as accorate as I can as my friend warned me that some stuff is either unfinished or not something he really wants to share just yet.
Report 204, date xxx year xxx
Subject: Project Parasitic Hound.
The project has been deemed a failure after loosing all but one of 227 test subjects used for the duration of year xxx to year xxx. With the only remaining living subject having been transfered to an officer of the Hoshina clan for furter study and containment until high command has made a decision on what to do with it.
The following is the description of the test subecjt and what is currently know of it and its abilities.
Subject D-08 is a mixed Golden and Labrador Retriver breed of 5 years age that before the transplant had a whitish golden colour, along with being average in both size and strength. With chocolate eye colour. With being mild if a bit too curious in temperment.
Since after the transplants the coat as since turned black that most would either call coal black or obsidian black with now cyanish coloured eyes that glows when in darker areas. Its face also now sports odd white markings that almost form a painted mask of some sort and two small blunted horns has grown out the top of its head.
It has grown to somewhere between 10% to 30% more in size and hight, along with a similare balance in strenght, endurance, speed and intelligent after various tests was done shortly after the transplant.
Its teeth and claws has also been strengthen as well, enough so that a speical muzzle is to be worn at all times to avoid it biting anyone within its reach. It is to be only taken off when it needs to eat.
Its temperment still remains mild, though it has been noted that it now has become guarded and afraid around humans sporting lab coats. As well as shown a more aggressive side when meeting certain personnel.
The test subject has also gained two abilities of sorts. One is that it is now able to detect other kaijus within a 2 to 5 km raidus around itself. This discovery was only made and been comfirmed when subject reacted rather violently and fearfully when it detected a small invasion of mole type kaijus in the countryside during another test done in the area.
The second is a being able to control electricity. Though not very powerful, the subject is able to control the electricity enough to form a small bubble around itself for protection and hurl small lighting bolt like attakcs at range that will at most stun the traget. Its claws as well is able to be enhanted by said electricity to deliver a more power full attack at close range.
The subject has also shown no further aging as well, as its body seems to have stopped its age shortly after the transplant. More time is need to comfirm this though.
Oof. Poor Kafka definitely wasn't treated well to say the least. This is honestly the type of shit the more unhinged members in the Science Department would do.

Operation Smash Hit
Hahaha - this is gonna be dark
From Wikipedia. The Free Encyclopedia
Operation Smash Hit was an intentional train crash that occurred on 17 July, 1984 at the Old Dalby Test Track in Old Dalby, Leicestershire, United Kingdom.
The crash, organized by The Central Electricity Generating Board (CEGB) and undertaken by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL), involved a high speed collision between a 4 vehicle test train and stationary flatbed wagon.
The test, conducted to showcase the structural stability of a nuclear fuel rod flask in the event of a catastrophic collision, was notable for the forced participation and death of the five vehicles involved and for the international backlash that followed.

Background
During the late 1970s and early 1980′s, significant public outcry against the use of nuclear power began. These complaints were wide-ranging, and extended to military nuclear weapons as well as civilian nuclear generating plants. Of particular concern to the British public was the safety of nuclear fuel rod flasks. These flasks, which carry spent nuclear fuel rods from power plants to the Sellafield nuclear fuel reclamation plant, are transported by train, usually through urban areas. This practice, while safe, (as of 2020, Operation Smash Hit has been the only recorded incident with a fuel rod train) raised significant concerns about the efficacy of a flask in the event of a derailment or collision. In order to turn public opinion in its favor, CEGB in 1980 organized a series of tests in which a “Magnox” flask pulled at random from the production line would be subjected to a series of impacts in order to determine its strength. [2]
Following a 4 year long series of tests in which flasks (which was filled with water to simulate the nuclear fuel) were set on fire, damaged, or dropped from increasingly higher heights onto its edge - the weakest point of the flask - the CEGB coordinated with British Rail to stage a final destructive test of the flask in a simulated train crash. The test track at BREL’s Old Dalby site was deemed suitable, and the crash was scheduled for 17 July 1984.
In order to maximize the publicity of the event, CEGB invited an estimated 1500 attendees from local media and international scientific organizations, including the BBC, The Daily Mail, The Times, Nature, and members of the nuclear regulatory organizations from the United States, Japan, France, and Canada. Observers from the IAEA were also in attendance. [2]
Rolling Stock
British Rail was in the process of reclassifying many of its first generation diesel locomotives as non-standard. This classification would allow BR to withdraw these classes of locomotive, which included the class 44, 45, and 46, colloquially known as “Peaks”. [3] [4]
For More Information:
British Rail Class 46
British Rail Mark 1
Locomotive
46 009 | 97 401 - built D199/46 062, December 1963. Known informally as “Spamcan”[3] [4], 46 062 willingly and surreptitiously exchanged numbers and identities with withdrawn sibling 46 009 in October 1983 and transferred to BR’s Research Department.[3] It is believed that neither locomotive was aware of the test or its anticipated outcome at the time of the swap.[3][4][ᴺᵒᵗᵉ¹]  It is unknown whether 009/062 was transferred specifically for Operation Smash Hit, or if CEGB requested an engine and 009/062 was chosen at random. In either event, the 90MPH top speed of the class 46 and its 138 Long Ton weight was considered ideal by BREL, which wished to simulate a “worst case” scenario, in which the flask was impacted by a fully loaded high speed express train. The locomotive was purchased by CEGB for £16,750[1], and had his speed governor removed to allow a 100mph top speed.
46 023 | 97 402 was also present for the collision as a reserve engine should 009 fail. The locomotive’s services were not needed, and he remained as a source of spares until 1994, when he was purchased and expatriated to the United States by the US Peak Association, a consortium of escaped class 44, 45, and 46 locomotives in Texas. [4][5]
Rolling Stock
The rolling stock included 3 Mark 1 Coaches and a “Flatrol” depressed-center flat car. [4] Most documentation regarding the history of these vehicles was lost or destroyed following the crash. The coaches were purchased by the CEGB for  £2,190[4]. It is unknown if the Flatrol wagon as purchased by the CEGB, and if so, at what cost.

Crash
Preparations for the crash began on July 1-5, when 46 009 and 46 023′s speed limiters were removed to allow the train to reach 100 miles per hour at the moment of the collision. [5]  Additional modifications included the removal of the locomotives’ batteries and fire extinguisher systems, and the inclusion of a remote control switch on the locomotives' exterior. The Mark 1 Coaches were unmodified. On 16 July, the Flatrol wagon was lifted from their axles and laid sideways at the end of the siding on which the accident was to take place. According to all contemporary accounts, the wagon was oriented so that their face was facing away from the observers. [6]
On 17 July, the accident train - consisting of 46 009, E25154, M4514, and E25564 - was towed to the Old Dalby test track on the rear of the CEGB charter train. The consist of this train is unknown, however it is believed that 46 023 was part of this consist in an unpowered condition. After disembarking passengers, the train continued 8.75 miles up the line to Edwalton. There, the accident train was uncoupled and made ready for the crash. [5] [6]
The crash was timed to coincide with afternoon news broadcasts, and was scheduled for 1:12 PM GMT, however the impact did not occur until 30 minutes later at 1:42, after a short delay caused by anti-nuclear protestors was further exacerbated by 46 023, who had begun screaming unbroadcastable profanities at the CEGB and BR staff, necessitating his removal so to allow the television news recording to go forward. [7]
At 1:39, the train was throttled up to full power via the external controls, and was set off down the line towards Old Dalby. The train was followed by a trio of camera helicopters and a light aircraft, while numerous ground-based cameras from BREL, CEGB, and local rail enthusiasts captured the train as it accelerated to speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. Radar tracking of the train, as well as high speed footage taken from the test site and analysis of footage taken from stationary cameras estimates that 46 009 reached a maximum speed of 102.4 miles per hour shortly before impact. [5] [7]
At 1:42:19 PM GMT, the train rounded the final bend leading into Old Dalby. According to many accounts from non-UK-based observers, the train was audible long before it was visible, as 46 009 had at some point begun screaming for help [4] at a volume loud enough to be heard over the helicopter rotors. Some unconfirmed reports also state that Flatrol wagon DB550019 also began calling for help at this point - as they may have been previously unaware of the nature of the test. [4]
At 1:42:30, 46 009 impacted the lid of the flask. The locomotive was killed instantly as the flask destroyed his “A” side cab. The “B” side cab of 46 009 was also significantly damaged from being impacted by E25154. An explosion followed as 009′s fuel tank was crushed between the front and rear bogies, which detached from the locomotive’s frame as it buckled from contacting the flask. [4] [8] This frame buckling is believed to have thrown some amount of mechanical debris out of 46 009′s engine compartment, which would later draw conspiracy theories that the engine’s motor mounts had been loosened prior to the test in order to throw the motor free of the collision. This is false, as post-mortem photographs of 46 009′s engine room show the motor still in place. [9]
E25154 was either killed or mortally wounded in the impact as she was compressed between 46 009 and M4514 - over 30% of her superstructure was smashed inwards, while “catastrophic” frame damage was reported during scrapping. [8]
M4514 and E25564 were seriously injured in the collision - M4514 suffered severe crush damage on both ends, while E25564 was the least injured, suffering only damage to her leading end and side following the post-crash derailment. [8]
Improbably, DB550019 survived the crash. Despite being at the focal point of the collision, most of the energy of the crash was transferred into 46 009 and the Magnox flask. During the accident, DB550019 was driven over by 46 009 and began to roll on their axis. While obscured by the dust thrown up by the crash, the wagon began to cartwheel, eventually coming to rest in a vertical position, braced against E25154 and M4514. The railcar was not undamaged however, and suffered significant bowing and cracking of their steel frame. [4][8]
Immediate Aftermath
From the CEGB’s position, the test was a success - despite being impacted by 46 009 in the lid (the weakest point) - the flask maintained a proper seal, losing a minimal amount of water, which would correspond to a miniscule spillage of nuclear materials. [2]
All 5 vehicles involved in the crash were written off by the CEGB, and had already been sold to Vic Berry Ltd of Leicester for scrapping at the time of the accident, with an effective sale date of July 18. Following the accident, scrapping was meant to take place several weeks later, however international protests (see below) meant that Vic Berry work crews were unable to access the site until October, at which point 46 009, E25154, and the still living M4514, E25564, and DB550019 were cut up and recycled. [9]
International Reactions
International reactions to Operation Smash Hit were universally negative. Reactions ranged from censure at the governmental level to violence against individual members of BREL and CEGB staff.
Immediate
Numerous members of the international scientific community were present at the crash. As many would later state, they believed that the CEGB would perform the test in a manner similar to that of equivalent exercises in the United States and West Germany. [10] Those tests involved either locomotive analogues made of concrete and steel, or non-sentient locomotive shells. (Approximately 2% of locomotives built each year are non-sentient. These units are typically reserved for destructive testing.)
Concerns among the observers began before the test occurred, as members of the Canadian delegation noted that the test train was composed of sentient locomotives. They raised these concerns to BREL workers, who misunderstood their questions and assured them that no “useful” trains were to be destroyed. [10] [11]
The Canadians remained unconvinced, and their concerns grew when anti-nuclear demonstrators entered the test track.  DB550019, apparently unaware of their role in test, began yelling at the protestors to leave the site, unintentionally informing many of the observers that sentient vehicles were being used in the test. [10]
As 46 009 became visible, the observers were immediately presented with the fact that not only was the test being carried out by sentient machines, but also was done without their consent, as 46 009 was visibly and audibly terrified up to the moment of impact. [4][5][10][11][12]
Following the impact, observers from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission immediately began a physical assault on their counterparts from the CEGB and BREL. [11] The NRC had primarily sent members of their fuel rod transport committee. This committee primarily consisted of transport industry veterans, most of whom had previously expressed strong dislikes for the inaction of the United States government towards British Rail, with some members going so far as to author a white paper in 1972 which stated that the United Kingdom could not be trusted with Trident missiles as a result of their poor sentient rights record in regard to locomotives. [13]
As the scuffle between BREL, CEGB, and NRC personnel increased, members of the Canadian and French delegations returned from inspecting the wreckage of the train. They had done so almost before the wreckage had come to a stop, and were reportedly horrified at the damage, especially the remains of 46 009. Realizing that BREL and CEGB were to blame, they joined the fight between the NRC and BREL workers. [11][12]
The fight was brought to a halt only through police intervention, and many of the BREL managers on hand for the crash were severely injured, some permanently. [11][14]
Following the brawl, CEGB officials - with significant police protection - gave a press conference in front of the wreckage before boarding their charter train to return to London along with observers from the IAEA and the Japanese Atomic Energy Commission. [14] A second incident occurred on board the train in which the CEGB delegation, including chairman Sir Walter Marshall, were attacked by unknown assailants while the train was stopped at Flitwick. [11][15] The assailants left the train after making their attack, but due to many of the international observers either being arrested or unintentionally left behind in Old Dalby, an accurate headcount had not been made before the train set off, meaning that the identity of the attackers remains unknown. Unsubstantiated reports claim that the primary attackers may have been two members of the Soviet Nuclear Agency, who had attended as part of the IAEA delegation, and were known body builders. [16] These rumors are contested by members of the CEGB, who claimed that their attackers were speaking Japanese, however these claims are disputed by the JAEC. [14][16][17]
Following the Crash
In the days after the crash, numerous governments and non-governmental organizations condemned the crash.
United States
President Ronald Reagan was publicly silent on the crash, but privately excoriated Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in a phone call on 27 July. [18]
Vice President George H.W. Bush issued a public statement of “sympathy and support for all locomotives in the United Kingdom”. [19]
William Stanley, head of The International Brotherhood of Railway Locomotives, harshly criticized the actions of British Rail and the CEGB, and called for a boycott of all British-made products by his union’s members. [20]
The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, speaking on behalf of the Teamsters Union, issued a “scathing” 3 page statement in which it called upon the United States government and the United Nations to formally intervene in the United Kingdom “with military action if required”. [21]
The Association of American Railways condemned the crash in “the strongest possible terms”. [22]
The Southern Pacific Railway released a statement in which they condemned the crash and pledged to redouble their funding of expatriation programs for British Locomotives. [23]
The Smithsonian Institution, whose board of directors at the time included 9 locomotives, officially ended any and all affiliation programs with museums in the United Kingdom, including The British Museum, The Science Museum, and The National Museum of Science and Industry. [24] This cutting of ties lasted until 2014, when Flying Scotsman was repatriated to the United States. [24]
Belgium
King Baudouin issued a statement of sympathy for 46 009 and the “Peak” class as a whole, and reiterated his country’s stance on offering asylum to any British Locomotive who should make it to Belgium’s shores. He also extended this offer to coaches and freight cars after learning of the fate of the other vehicles in the crash. [25]
On 31 July, Baudouin, French President Mitterand and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands made a joint address in Brussels in which they pledged to continue their efforts to accept locomotive refugees from the United Kingdom. [26]
France
President François Mitterrand spoke at length about the crash at a press conference on 19 July. Citing initial reports from scientific observers and footage provided to Agence France-Presse, he claimed that the crash was a "travesty". On a state visit to Belgium on 31 July, he and Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands stood with King Baudouin in a joint address in which they pledged to continue their efforts to accept locomotive refugees from the United Kingdom. [26][27]
The Netherlands
Queen Beatrix gave a rare public address to the media late on 17 July, in which she expressed her shock and horror at the events of the crash. She stated that the perpetrators of the event would be brought to justice should they ever set foot on Dutch soil, and announced that 21 July would be a national day of mourning. Beatrix also sent a private correspondence to Queen Elizabeth, stating her feelings on the crash. [28] On 31 July, Beatrix, French President Mitterrand, and Belgian King Baudouin made a joint address in Brussels in which they pledged to continue their efforts to accept locomotive refugees from the United Kingdom. [26]
Canada
Prime Minister John Turner “vehemently” condemned the crash, and made a formal protest to Queen Elizabeth via Governor General Suavé. Turner also ordered the National Energy Board to cease all cooperation with the United Kingdom until those responsible at the CEGB were brought to justice. [29] This governmental boycott remained in effect until 2001, when the CEGB was fully privatized.  [30]
The Canadian Labour Congress, on behalf of its locomotive members, attacked the CEGB and British Rail, and called upon trade unions in the United Kingdom to commit to industrial action in retaliation. [31]
West Germany
Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who had famously remained silent on the issue of locomotive rights in the United Kingdom, broke his silence to issue a lengthy statement in which he decried the United Kingdom and British Rail for their “monstrous acts” against locomotives.  [32]
East Germany
General Secretary Erich Honecker issued a brief statement in which he decried the capitalist regime of the United Kingdom, and claimed that such an event would never be allowed to happen in East Germany.  [33]
USSR
General Secretary Konstantin Chernenko offered his sympathies to 46 009′s surviving classmates and assured his citizens that events like this would never be tolerated in the Soviet Union. [34]
Japan
Minister of Foreign Affairs Shintaro Abe released a statement strongly condemning the United Kingdom for its actions. [35]
In a rare move, the Atomic Energy Commission of Japan released a separate statement that strongly condemned the CEGB, British Rail and the government of the United Kingdom, and recommended that the Japanese government bring charges against the United Kingdom in the UNCHR. [36]
Minister of Transportation Hiro Igawa released a statement expressing his “sadness and shock on behalf of all of Japan’s locomotives.” [35]
Australia
Prime Minister Bob Hawke stated that the crash was a “horrible, evil act, committed by utter bastards”. [37] He pledged to bring his concerns to Queen Elizabeth, however it is unknown whether the Monarch ever replied. [Citation Needed]
Multiple Railway Unions, including the AFULE, ATOF, and the NUR, all issued statements strongly condemning the crash, and began pushes for legislation to ban the repatriation of locomotives to the United Kingdom. [38]
United Nations
Secretary-General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar publicly and privately condemned the crash, and seriously considered requests to expel the United Kingdom from the UN Security Council after their veto of UN Resolution 44/227, which would have declared the crash a violation of international human rights law. [2][39][40]
Domestic Reactions
In the Media
As it became apparent that the international outcry was not going to go away on its own, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher ordered a D-Notice placed on all coverage of the international outcry beginning on 18 July. [41] A further D-Notice was placed on coverage of the crash itself beginning on 21 July[42], and a historic “triple D-Notice” was placed on 29 July, after The Sun began coverage of the D-Notices themselves. [2][43][44][45]
Outside of the railroading community, reactions to the crash were muted - at the time, locomotives in the United Kingdom were viewed in much the same way as domesticated animals, and most Britons were unphased by the destruction of a locomotive. [46][47]
Following the D-Notice, the crash quickly faded into non-existence by the end of 18 July, and was quickly forgotten following the Llŷn Peninsula earthquake on 19 July.
Within British Rail
Within the railroading community, reactions were mixed. The actions of the Class 45 locomotives had caused all three “Peak” classes of locomotives to be labeled as “diesel supremacists” - a terminology used to describe locomotives who had taken exceptional pleasure in eliminating steam traction during British Rail’s modernization plan.[48] As such, many surviving steam locomotives - and newer diesels whose only interactions with the Peaks had been during their end-of-life years - viewed the crash as “just desserts”. [Citation Needed]
Many of BR’s first and second-generation diesels viewed the test in a strongly negative light, and untold amounts of financial and physical damage was done in the months and years following as locomotives refused to work or intentionally caused accidents out of protest. [48][49][50]
Domestic Protest Groups
Locomotive rights groups within the United Kingdom reacted within hours of the crash, and a sit-in protest/candlelight vigil was held outside of the gates of Old Dalby test ground from 18 July to 3 October.[51] Protestors were supported by international protestors beginning on 21 July, with significant material and financial aid given from a variety of sources, including the Austrian Red Cross[52], the Provisional Irish Republican Army[53], and American singer John Oates[54].
The influx of protestors grew the sit-in to such a size that it was impossible for crews from Vic Berry’s to access the site until October, when the entrance road was cleared by riot police using water cannons and tear gas in the early morning hours of 3 October. [55][56]
Broadcast
Initial reactions to the test were calmly negative, but were quickly turned into furious condemnations after the BBC world service broadcast the crash as part of their normal news broadcast on 17 July. [57] The nonchalant matter in which newsreader Moira Stuart delivered the piece to camera has been referenced in numerous reports and official statements as the primary source of aggression by international audiences, who had not previously realized the extent of the crash. [58] In 2006, Time Magazine listed the footage as the 13th most important piece of documentary footage in the world. [51][59]
Lawsuit
Immediately following the test, multiple expatriated Class 46,45 and 44 locomotives living in the United States sued the CEGB and British Rail in US federal court for Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress. [60] The suit was settled out of court for an undisclosed sum. [61]
The Legacy of My Brother’s Murder
In 2017, the documentary film The Legacy of My Brother’s Murder revealed that 46 009 and 46 062 had exchanged numbers in October 1983.[3][62] 46 062, who had risen to infamy after his appearance in the Railway Series book Enterprising Engines [62], had swapped numbers in an attempt to “change his destiny” by swapping numbers, and therefore identities, with less controversial sibling 46 009, who was being transferred into departmental service. Both engines believed that this duty would allow the bearer of 46 009′s number to survive long after the class was fully withdrawn, while the bearer of 46 062′s number would be preserved due to the “Awdry Phenomenon” - a railfan preservation movement that had saved locomotives who had previously appeared in the Railway Series, including D3160[63], D261/40 061[64], and 40 125.[65]

Pittsburgh’s Moths Reflect Environmental Impacts of Industry
by Nicholas Sauer
I began to think in earnest about industrial melanism while working at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in 2018 when the We Are Nature exhibit was on display as part of the museum’s intensive focus on the Anthropocene. There was an unassuming corner of the exhibit devoted to the fate of the peppered moth (Biston betularia) during the Industrial Revolution. Dark-colored—melanistic—peppered moths were rare in England and Germany until the Industrial Revolution and the inevitable increase of air pollution from the burning of fossil fuels. With the rise of heavy industry, pale peppered moths began to stick out like bright specks on soot-covered vegetation. These pale moths were easy targets for hungry birds. The coal-choked environment favored the moth populations that possessed a gene for darker coloration, providing an example of natural selection at work. In recent years, scientists have located the specific gene that accounts for the darker moths and can trace the changing selection on color variation in peppered moths back to at least 1819 when the burning of coal for industrial purposes began to pick up steam in the British Isles.
In 1896, English entomologist J.W. Tutt theorized that his nation’s industrial conditions profoundly affected local moth populations. He argued that lichen on trees provided camouflage for the salt-and-pepper-colored moths. According to Tutt, industrial pollution killed off the lichen and, in turn, the pollution—soot and ash—camouflaged the darker moths, particularly the dark form of Biston betularia, f. carbonaria. It was not until the 1950s that Tutt’s theory was tested. Through a series of experiments, lepidopterist Bernard Kettlewell demonstrated that when both light and dark peppered moths (f. typica and carbonaria respectively) were released in industrially-contaminated woodlands in Birmingham and Dorset, England, birds fed on the most “conspicuous” form, f. typica, the pale moths. Kettlewell’s experiment would wind up in science textbooks for decades to come as a demonstration of natural selection.

In the wake of Kettlewell’s findings, similar experiments were conducted in the United States, even in the Pittsburgh area. The scientist leading the melanism study in the Eastern United States in the 1950s, Denis Frank Owen (1931-1996), pored over the moth collections right here at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History as well as those of several other natural history museums in the Northeast and Midwest. A transplant from England at the beginning of his long career as an ecologist, Owen sought to test whether or not Kettlewell's results would be reflected in his own data on the American side of the Atlantic. Owen’s own findings were very much like Kettlewell’s. This, of course, was unsurprising in the case of Pittsburgh considering the massive amount of pollutants that were emitted by the city’s steel mills. To get a good idea of how polluted the city was at that time, check out the two soot-stained squares that remain on the mural The Crowning of Labor on the second and third floors of CMNH’s Grand Staircase.
Owen discovered that Pittsburgh had some of the earliest records of industrial melanism in the Northeast—melanistic forms of Epimecis hortaria (or, the Tulip Tree Beauty) dating from 1922 and Biston cognataria dating from 1910. Owen posited in his research that the number of melanistic moths were increasing in the late 1950s and early 1960s, particularly in environs surrounding industrial cities like Detroit and Pittsburgh, even as far as outlying rural areas. At Westmoreland County’s Powdermill Nature Reserve, all eight of the peppered moths observed in a 1957 study were melanistic, according to Owen.
Unfortunately, records of industrial melanism were never kept as meticulously in the U.S. as they were in the U.K., so our understanding of how widespread the phenomenon was States-side is incomplete. However, since the 1970s, much more data has been collected on peppered moths in the U.S. than before. This data has reflected the implementation of clean air regulations and tracked the overall decline in the ratio of melanistic peppered moths in favor of the pale form, supporting the theory that these moth populations, either Biston betularia (f. typica or carbonaria) or their cousins, are subject to natural selection that is weighted by pollution. Biologist Bruce S. Grant has suggested that more recent data from the post-industrial era be put to greater educational use—not to supplant Kettlewell’s famous experiment, but to supplement it with more up-to-date scientific findings.
Regrettably, even in the “Post-Industrial” era following the birth of the Environmental Protection Agency (1970) and the Clean Air Act (1972), peppered moths are subject to human-exacerbated environmental threats. In the 1980s, when scientists sought an explanation for the continued presence of melanistic moths in rural eastern Pennsylvania, they instead discovered two major dangers to peppered moths and their habitat. First, so-called gypsy moths (Lymantria dispar dispar)—an invasive species introduced to the U.S. by humans in the 19th century—were rapidly defoliating the woodlands that the peppered moths called home. Secondly, the Pennsylvania Department of Forestry was spraying the area with the pesticides Dylox and Dimilin to combat Lymantria dispar and may have adversely affected the peppered moths in the process.
This example of the twin dangers of invasive species and pesticide use, in addition to the earlier instances of industrial pollution, demonstrate human beings’ profound effect on the natural world during the Anthropocene. The travails of the peppered moth are key to understanding the influence humans have on the ecosystems around them, so far as becoming even a variable in the way natural selection operates. The Pittsburgh area and the scientific collections at CMNH have played an important part in the study of industrial melanism in peppered moths and will continue to do so as the natural world responds in its way to human influence. The decline in melanistic moth numbers that correlates with cleaner air and more conscientious environmental regulations provides hope that that human influence is not uniformly negative.

The physiological mechanisms underlying tummo are understood instinctively by many animals which inhabit cold environments. The process involves shunting the blood away from the extremities, the temperature of which is allowed to sink to a level close to the freezing point. This occurs in animals as diverse as the dog (husky), caribou, seagull, seal and polar bear. See Irving, Laurence, "Adaptations to Cold," Scientific American, January 1966, p. 94.)
Evidently man does not know how to do this by instinct but can learn how to do it by attaining direct control over certain aspects of the working of the instinctive brain. (See David-Neel, Alexandra, op. cit. [note 20], p. 227.)
Members of the Sir Edmund Hillary expedition to the Himalayas were amazed by the endurance of a Nepalese pilgrim who walked barefoot in the snow and wore only light cotton garments. They subjected him to "scientific" tests and published a paper on his reactions (Pugh, L.G.C.E., "Tolerance of Extreme Cold at Altitude in a Nepalese Pilgrim," Journal of Applied Physiology, 18 [1963]: 1234).

BNHA Endgame Theory - The Demise of Shigaraki (MAJOR manga spoilers)
*cracks all 30 knuckles* Time for Another Theory!!! A Serious Post This Time!!!!!!
Please be aware there are heavy manga spoilers underneath. I’m just That Bitch.
I’m trying to tie together the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory with the final arc of BNHA, in which they will have to fight Shigaraki.
It’s in Chapter 166 (during the Remedial Course Arc) that we are introduced to a concept that I think is very important: Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory. As the children are playing and demonstrating an increasing amount of control and power over their quirks compared to previous generations, Shishikura Seiji explains the theory of how overtly complex and therefore uncontrollable quirks will arise due to continuous (implied as biologically unchecked) blending and evolution of quirks.
Tumblr media
Though one could simply have brushed this off as “man, another day of Seiji being his emo self again,” I think that the manga hints at the fact that this theory will potentially become reality. In one of the more recent villain arc, we are introduced to the Meta Liberation Army, whose end focus is to allow people free reign over their quirks without legal restrictions. In the current BNHA world, those that use quirks are of two types of people: heroes and villains. (Vigilantes could be argued as a third category, but technically they are still villains or those that use their quirk with government permission, and social consequences could be argued either way.)
In some ways, the Meta Liberation Army had no choice but to incorporate the League of Villains as their whole purpose/former actions have been an on-crack version of what the MLA wants: freedom. Freedom in using their quirk, whether it be for amusement or violence or pleasure. Freedom to tear down what they don’t understand or don’t like. Freedom to do whatever their little psychopathic, traumatized hearts desire.
Within the fight between the LoV and the MLA, we see that mental, emotional, and physical strain triggered quirk evolutions in our favorite villains (Toga in ch.226, Shigaraki in ch.227/ch.234, Twice in ch.229), which highlights how rapidly quirk evolution can occur, within one’s lifetime. This doesn’t bode well for the timeline for in which the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory becomes a reality (sooner than later).
(later edit/thought: maybe the only quirk evolution that Shigaraki has is in chapter 234 and not the first, but since this post is long AS FUCK I’ll probably post some other thing analyzing his “original” decay quirk)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, jumping ahead to the more previous chapters, we see that Shigaraki is absent even though he is the main antagonist of this entire series, the Final Boss if you want. Twice even notes on it to Hawks in ch.258. Previously, we saw the actual experiment that the doctor, Maruta Shiga, was doing to Shigaraki in ch.255.
My guess is that with Shigaraki obtaining enough power/influence by becoming the leader of the MLA (as the head of the Paranormal Liberation Army, aka the new LoV), was the last (social) step needed to reinforce his physical quirk capacity; he’s being prepped to become the next holder of All For One, or at the very least several other quirks. (I’m going to stick Shigaraki getting AFO even though I’m only convinced 50/50, but whatever this is a theory.)
AFO is no doubt extremely powerful not just in experience but the sheer number of reinforced quirks he has that work together (because he picks and chooses which work well together). All that power will be passed onto Shigaraki who already has a quirk and is mentally unstable. I suppose neither the doctor nor Shigaraki care about the mental health aspect of receiving that much physical power, so I suppose we’ll focus solely on the physical.
Tumblr media
So the doctor performed an incredible intense surgery that added maybe-AFO to Shigaraki’s physical body, then let him stabilize for 3 months, as that’s the timetable for making a Nomu. In some sense, I guess you could say that all the Nomu previously were but preliminary test subjects for the prime targeted subject: Shigaraki.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This perfected (tormented and sickened) version of Shigaraki will probably the most challenging adversary that the heroes have to fight yet. With a broken psyche, Shigaraki will never surrender and never give up- it’ll be a fight to the death, probably to both ends. Now, how does all this tie into Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory?
Simple: with the overbearing insane numerous quirks, Shigaraki may be unable to control them and self-destruct during (at the near end, or BNHA won’t have much of a climax arc) his fight with Midoriya and the other heroes. After the operation, he’ll be even more unstable, physically and mentally.
It’s actually quite fitting: In an effort to destroy the hero civilization and hero individuals, Shigaraki will be destroyed by none other than himself. There is no other way for him to die, but at the sake of his own insanity.

Methodology
From Pragmatism to Piracy
I must start by stating that I had never done research as a means to an end within my practice before. I had always gone with my gut or accumulated knowledge as a process towards a final outcome. Blinded by my own random thoughts, I had no notion whatsoever of the insights the research could provide to a creative designer/illustrator. I believed fiction and innovation had to be all new things and that there was no gaining from whatever was already done since it was indeed already done. I found out I was extremely wrong as soon as I began.
My method starts with reflective research. I found that it always begins with an emotion, a doubt or an impacting visual that triggered me in some way - just like in the creative process - followed by thorough objective research or an attempt to improve an issue I might have encountered (Mainemelis, 2002). After such I go back to reflecting on my findings.
My objective research allowed me to understand my focus subjects, helped to inform my search with quality texts from reliable and viable sources such as academic books and peer-reviewed articles. This objective search also showed proofs to my reflection, it defended my point of view and, sometimes, it even changed my view of certain subjects with the provided knowledge. It made sure that whatever I was writing about was not biased or incorrect since there were random things I used to believe in when I was young and now I question all of it till proof is given.
I have little use of subjective research since I made no extensive interviews nor any enquiries. I noted responses to my work for one of my blog posts because they were the focus of the experiment and the rest of the subjectivity within the posts is more reflective and critical.
In terms of reliability I focus on peer-reviewed texts as I believe they are at the top of the hierarchic chain of quality references due to their trustworthy content. However, when I gathered subjective research such as in the “Visual Irony” post, I asked colleagues, friends and family members for their insights knowing how their education, culture and beliefs would bias their responses. Opinions could easily vary but, as a designer, the public’s take on what is produced is a must for it to be effective.
From my recent reading on research methods, I found out I’ve leaned towards the grounded theory method by gathering theoretical sampling. This because, just like Glaser and Strauss in the sixties, when a problem would arise, I would gather the evidence from what is directly there by questioning its content in order to prove a point and find a solution to it (Bell & Waters, 2018). New data would always test my ideas in order to add to or break my theory. Once the solution was found, I would distance myself in order to see its faults since it is my belief that the best tool we have rests in our brains, in reflecting on the issues that we stumble upon.
On the other hand I believe I could have gone deeper as I acknowledge that by being critical and reflective I don’t do as much objective research as I think I should in order to support my theories. There is, also, a lack of originality in terms of research methods in my opinion.
Being very introspective, I found reflection to accompany me everywhere I went and in whatever I researched, either for visual inspiration or for when I stumbled upon situations that intrigue me. I used subjectivity when describing the feelings that I experienced so I could show the idea behind most posts as I wanted the reader to feel what I felt. I inspect my research in the end of each post where I relate the objective research I gathered to final concluding thoughts. Nevertheless I do not examine my argumentation’s effectiveness since I would lean towards overthinking and auto-validation until now.
Some of my posts have books defending their subject that might not be considered by all researchers since they might be mirroring my own opinion specifically. Even though I mention the contrasting thoughts on the studied subjects, I lack the consideration of other researchers views when referencing.
Leaving out most of the visual experimentation was my biggest foul provided that my master bases itself on visual language as a priority.
I am, though, limited by my interests, my understanding of only four languages (some articles I might only get access as a pdf of a scanned version where there is no way to translate it) and my education and formulate most conclusions based on my experience since it is my belief that, as I said in the “The Growth of an Idea” post, our actions are connected to us as rational beings since most of our research route’s choices depend on our gut, knowledge or personal taste.
Now, I like to think of my method as an adventure. A journey where I jump on my imaginary boat filled with tools in order to gain knowledge. I stumbled upon some obstacles in the way, gathered more tools and kept drawing my way. I might not even know to where it will lead me. In this sea of research the aim might be reaching land or finding a treasure but I ultimately believe that the richness we end up achieving comes from the whole experience of roaming this ocean of research.
To conclude, I trust it wasn’t only the research itself but the research methods that made me grow as an illustrator and designer opening paths I never knew before.

RATING: RELIABLE
This is a real tool used in ASD assessments. (This was used in my ASD assessment last year!)
A few things to note for people taking this test:
It is for use in adults with an average or higher IQ.
The threshold is 65.
It is intended to be taken alongside the help of a clinician.
It is used alongside other methods, such as mental state examinations, medical history, and testing for co-morbid mental health conditions.
It is not an effective screening tool for identifying who is likely to be diagnosed with ASD in a full assessment.
Source: ‘The Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale-Revised (RAADS-R) is a valid and reliable instrument to assist the diagnosis of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders’
Source: ‘The total RAADS scores ranged from 44 to 227 in the ASD subjects and from 0 to 65 in the comparison groups. By ROC curve analysis, we determined that the best threshold for distinguishing between the two groups was a score of 65. Using this value, all 578 comparison subjects were correctly predicted with no “false positives” (specificity = 100%).’
Source: ‘The questions are designed for individuals with average IQ and above.’
Source: ‘It is designed to be administered by clinicians in a clinical setting. It is not intended to be a mail in or an online screening instrument.’
Source: ‘Results indicate no association between RAADS-R scores and clinical diagnostic outcome, suggesting the RAADS-R is not an effective screening tool for identifying service users most likely to receive an ASD diagnosis. In conclusion, used as a self-report measure pre-full diagnostic assessment, the RAADS-R lacks predictive validity and is not a suitable screening tool for adults awaiting autism assessments.’
one of my beloved friends (very autism) was in.. not denial but ignorance sounds mean. but that abt themself last time you brought up the raads r test so i sent it to the gc (full of autism) and they were like psh. fake test no one could get below 100. they know now but i think about it so much
The thing is. When you take the autism test. And you see your score is in the 100 to 160 range. You think. Oh this is probably the middle? Middle autism. Tinge of autism. Your relatives calling you bright but shy autism. Just a whiff of autism. And then you see the score ranges. And you go. This test is lying to me there is absolutely no way the majority of people score under 65. The 65 number is such a low cutoff and so many of these experiences are clearly universal a score under 65 is something they made up in a lab. People who score under 65 are obviously scoring just under that mark from 59 to 64 and they’re also obviously lying or purposely misrepresenting their experiences as less severe than they are. And then you find out there are real people who get a 20 or 30 or 7 on it. And you go. Ah

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING SO PEOPLE KNOW HOW SHIPS WORK ON YOUR BLOG
WHAT’S YOUR OTP FOR YOUR MUSE? :
Lorelei x some god damn peace and quiet.
Also Lorelei x someone who won’t die. That works too.
Oh, and I guess I like the classic HoK x Martin Septim ship, but I enjoy other ships just as much, tbh?
HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE? :
Lorelei is chronologically 227 and physically in her late twenties to early thirties, so anywhere under legal age is where I draw the line at shipping romantically. That goes for both mental and physical age. Idc how old your immortal child is mentally or chronologically; if their appearance doesn’t match my limit at the least, I won’t be comfortable with it, sorry.
ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING? :
It’s sort of a yes and no for me. On one hand, I definitely ship based on chemistry. If our muses don’t click well, it simply won’t work, and I’m not going to force it to. On the other hand, if I read up on a muse before interacting with them, and I can already sort of assess a pretty good potential for something shippy, I'm not afraid to contact the mun and plot something out along those lines. Sometimes you just know. And it just tends to happen with Lorelei more often than I initially anticipated, especially because she tends to be rather emotionally unavailable due to circumstances regarding her canon.
HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED NS/FW? :
When it becomes implied that nsfw content will be taking place, that’s usually when I put it under the cut. Inappropriate touching/groping/grinding or even just an outright “do you want to have sex?” ---> “yes, please.”
WHO ARE OTHER MUSES YOU SHIP YOUR MUSE WITH? :
Canon muses tend to be pretty obsolete, minus Martin. I guess I also slightly ship her with Legate Rikke because that’s who she married in her first Skyrim file, lmao. I am currently plotting to test the waters with a ship between Lorelei and @mechanicosmia‘s Sotha Sil because I adore him and it’s something I see potential in, surprisingly. Oh, yeah and @grimhymns and I have a cute little ship between my bab and Serana as well.
With oc’s, there is only one ship that I’ve extensively plotted with @grimhymns, and that’s if she’s still on board with creating Remliel (an Aureal/Golden Saint oc). There have been brief mentions of others, but nothing really developed. I’m always open to welcoming more.
Now, crossover ships? Oh, now I have plenty of those that I would love to write at some point, if I can find willing muns to write them with me. One of my dream crossover ships is Lorelei x Aloy (from Horizon Zero Dawn). I’d at least love to write a close friendship between them if one isn’t willing to write a romantic ship with them. Lorelei would stan Aloy SO MUCH, you have no idea.
ANY NOTPS? :
Not particularly; there aren’t any ships that I’m so much vehemently against. Typically, I’m pretty open to the idea of trying out anything, so long as it makes sense and I can see the potential there. I mean, I definitely can’t see potential in Lorelei being with anyone who represents the opposite of her morality. I feel like there are probably some people out there who ship the HoK with Mehrunes Dagon, for example, lmao.
DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU? :
Well, yes, of course. I’m pretty oblivious af, so unless you ask me directly, I probably won’t pick up on your intentions unless they’re explicitly implied ic or something. And I’d feel uncomfortable if someone just outright decided/assumed that a ship will take place without consulting me about it.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU LIKE TO SHIP? :
I’m always open to it, but I like to ship non-romantic ships just as often as romantic ships. /shrug
ARE YOU MULTISHIP? :
Yes. Every ship I write takes place in its own separate verse unless specified otherwise between muns.
ARE YOU SHIP-OBSESSED OR SHIP MORE-OR-LESS? :
Somewhere in the middle, I think. I love ships, and they make my rpc experience incredibly enjoyable, but I don’t have to have them, you know. I'm more of a “if the situation calls for it” kind of person.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SHIP IN YOUR CURRENT FANDOM? :
I honestly dont really have one.
FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU? :
Ask first, then ramble about shippy headcanons with me if I agree, lol. Because you will be subjected to my pathetic nonsense if you’re brave enough to explore a ship with me.

okay sooooo i went to see a psychologist two years ago and she said that i fulfilled the criteria for autism. but then i went to see another psychologist and she said that i wasn’t neurodivergent. it’s kinda confusing but maybe it’s because in the second assessment i was masking my symptoms a lot more because i was a lot more aware of them???because college has been incredibly difficult for me with the disruption in my routine and also i’ve always had an issue with food and sensory issues. my mum thought that i was autistic when i was 15 because of my problems with food. i also have some hyper mobility and when i was younger i saw a speech therapist and i had additional classes for maths because i found it difficult. i also have bad hand eye coordination and find sports difficult.. also idk if this classifies as a special interest or not but when i was 17 i loved gilmore girls.
i watched it once and then during the summertime i watched it four times back to back, also bought all seven seasons on dvd. another thing about me is that this summer i loved stranger things so much that i would spend hours on end analysing it.
do you think that’s similar to anyone else’s experiences on here ??? i’m a little thrown off because of what the second psychologist said😭 but also maybe this is just me but does anyone on here find that people who are loud and bubbly are overwhelming to be around… because they’re always talking and it can be quite overwhelming… and they can just be so bubbly that it’s hard to keep up… they’re so loud that it’s hard to be around them…
i also find the sound of people eating so annoying like the texture and sound is just too much for me also the smells , i find really hard to deal with unless it’s something nice like chocolate or pizza. i just feel like i can get so attached to people really easily and they just aren’t like that and tend to take advantage of me😭😭 but idk if i’m autistic🫠🫠 does anyone find that this relates to them too?obvi you can’t diagnose me, just wondering if anyone relates.
also, i did a couple of tests on here and here are my results.
autism spectrum quotient: 27 out of 50
RAADS-R: 140 out of 227
empathy quotient: 26 out of 80
clinical partners test: 20 out of 30
aspie quiz: 127 of 200
AQ 10: 5 out of 10
AQ: 23
toronto empathy quotient: 60 out of 64
masking test: 131
Hmm! Well, anon, I'm not on the spectrum and I'm not qualified to speak on the subject. I'm also not sure you intended to land in my ask box, but I hope this connects with you somewhere in the vast land of cyberspace! Anybody have input of relevant life experience?

B2Gold Reports Successful Exploration Drilling at the Fekola Complex's Anaconda Area
Vancouver, British Columbia, September, 2022 - B2Gold Corp. (TSX: BTO), B2Gold Inc. (NYSE: BTG), and B2Gold Corp. (NSX: B2G) are pleased to announce additional encouraging exploration drilling results from the Anaconda Area, about 25 kilometres north of the Fekola Mine, confirming continuity of the Mamba Main Zone, which is still open down plunge.
The Fekola Complex, which also comprises the Fekola Mine and the surrounding Cardinal Zone, the Bakolobi permit, and the Dandoko permit, contains the Fekola Area, which is made up of the Menankoto and Bantako North permits (subject to completion of the Oklo Resources Ltd. transaction).
Discovery Highlights
The Mamba Main Zone produced high grade results, such as hole BND 108 with 5.89 g/t gold over 28.70 metres from 455.45 metres, hole BND 101 with 3.76 g/t gold over 32.08 metres from 299.00 metres, and hole BND 104 with 3.33 g/t gold over 14.30 metres from 362.70 metres, which collectively confirm and extend the continuity of the high grade sulphide mineralization of the sulphide shoot to over 700 m
Strong preliminary findings from the Cobra Zone, which is two kilometres east of the Mamba Zone, such as hole MSD 227's 2.02 g/t gold over 25.30 m from 201.70 m and 6.75 g/t gold over 13.80 m from 244.40 m, confirm the potential for economic grade and width combinations in the sulphide mineralization. The company is now drilling this extension target because they think the Cobra Zone may expand onto the Bakolobi permit.
The Anaconda Area's ongoing drilling by the Company to follow up on the sulphide mineralization and infill and extend the saprolite Mineral Resource area, including the Mamba and Adder zones and several other targets below the saprolite mineralization, continues to produce positive drill results in both the saprolite and sulphide domains and shows a strong potential to increase the updated Anaconda Area Mineral Resource estimate from March 2022.
Exploration Drilling Program for Mali in 2022 A 161,000 m drill programme on the Fekola Complex is being carried out by B2Gold in 2022 with a $35 million budget. This programme will test the potential for underground mineralization at the Fekola North deposit as well as the Mamba, Adder, Anaconda, Cascabel, Viper, and Cobra zones in the Anaconda Area. On targets close to the Fekola Mine and the Anaconda Area, B2Gold has performed over 116,000 m of combined diamond, reverse circulation, and aircore drilling as of this writing in 2022. A total of 9,000 metres of drilling have also been finished on the recently acquired Bakolobi permit.
Anaconda Area Mamba Zone Exploration
The Anaconda Area Mineral Resource estimate, constrained within a conceptual pit shell at a gold price of $1,800 per ounce, includes an initial Indicated Mineral Resource estimate of 32,400,000 tonnes at 1.08 g/t gold for a total of 1,130,000 ounces of gold and an Inferred Mineral Resource estimate of 1,130,000 ounces of gold. Ongoing exploration in the Anaconda Area is continuing to produce positive drill results in both the saprolite and sulph
As evidenced by the outcomes of holes BND 108, BND 101, and BND 104, which confirmed the continuity of the high grade sulphide mineralization and extended the Mamba Main sulphide shoot to over 700 m down plunge, drilling targeting the deeper portions of the Mamba Main sulphide shoot has been particularly successful. The results from holes MSD 228 and MSD 226 indicate that the Mamba Zone may contain a number of high grade sulphide shoots. Drilling is still being done to investigate the possibility of finding south-dipping sulphide mineralization bodies in the Fekola style that are still open down plunge.
2022 Regional Exploration of Fekola and West Mali In order to extend the known sulphide mineralization at the Anaconda Area, including the Mamba, Cobra, and Adder zones, as well as several other targets below the saprolite mineralization, the Company will concentrate on follow-up drilling for the remainder of 2022. Approximately 45,000 m of this drilling will be completed.
The Menankoto South permit and the Medinandi permit are adjacent to each other, while the 100 km2 Bakolobi concession, which has around 25 km of contiguous exploration potential along the productive Senegal-Mali Shear Zone, was purchased by the Company in April 2022. Since the acquisition, 9,000 metres of aircore drilling and reverse circulation drilling have been finished. Drilling will explore the southerly extension of sulphide mineralization on the Cobra Zone as well as the southward extension of existing resources in the Adder Zone. The company thinks the Bakolobi licence is a very promising location with the potential to add both saprolite- and sulphide-hosted gold discoveries in the near future.
The Dandoko project's JORC 2012 compliant Measured and Indicated Mineral Resource estimate of 8.70 million tonnes at 1.88 g/t gold for 528,000 ounces of gold and an Inferred Mineral Resource estimate of 2.63 million tonnes at 1.67 g/t gold for 141,00 ounces of gold will increase the footprint of B2Gold's exploration in Mali to over 1,700 km2, and the acquisition of Oklo Resources Limited and its flagship Dandoko project, which is The company thinks there is a good chance the mineralization at the Dandoko property might grow. The Dandoko project's first drilling is anticipated to start in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Update on Anaconda Development The Company allocated $33 million in 2022 for the development of infrastructure, including road construction, for Phase I saprolite mining at the Anaconda Area. The Company has shown that a pit located in the Anaconda Area could provide select higher grade saprolite material (average grade of 2.2 g/t gold) to be trucked to and fed into the Fekola mill at a rate of 1.5 million tonnes per year based on the updated Mineral Resource estimate and B2Gold's preliminary planning. The acquisition of Oklo and its flagship Dandoko project is expected to close on September 19, 2022, thus the company is presently assessing its options for the timing and sourcing of material from all deposits in the Fekola Complex area on a regional basis (including Fekola, Cardinal, Dandoko, Bakalobi and the Anaconda Area). First saprolite production is now projected in the second quarter of 2023, and this new review is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2022. The Company aims to start its planned Phase I infrastructure development in the fourth quarter of 2022, subject to receiving all required permits and finishing a final development plan. Trucking some higher-grade saprolite materials to the Fekola mill would enhance the amount of ore processed and the mill's annual gold production, with the potential to improve the mill's output by an average of 80,000 to 100,000 ounces of gold on an annual basis.
The company has started a Phase II scoping study to examine the project economics of establishing a stand-alone mill close to the Anaconda Area based on the updated Mineral Resource estimate and the results of the 2022 exploration drilling. The Company anticipates that throughout the time that the Anaconda Area stand-alone mill is being built, the saprolite material would still be trucked to and fed into the Fekola mill, pending receipt of a favourable Phase II scoping study.
QA/QC for Sample Gathering and Assaying SGS Laboratories in Bamako, Mali, and Bureau Veritas Laboratories in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, are the two main labs for Fekola. The laboratory at the Fekola Mine will occasionally test samples from exploration. Samples are produced and examined using a 50-gram fire assay with an atomic absorption finish and/or a gravimetric finish at each laboratory. Every month, umpire tests are used to check on lab performance.
The methodical insertion of standards, duplicates, and blanks into the core, as well as reverse circulation and aircore drilling sample strings, are all examples of quality assurance and quality control methods. The outcomes of the control samples are reviewed routinely, and batches may need to be reanalyzed or resubmitted. All outcomes mentioned in this announcement have met B2Gold's standards for quality assurance and quality control.
