Tea production and processing represent a source of livelihoods for millions of families, including millions in least developed countries.
Tumblr media
This report finds that the decline in the tea sector in Mauritius is the result of uncoordinated institutional actions, the absence of comprehensive policy and national strategies, weak legislation and regulatory framework. The decline can be attributed to the low level of technology adoption, lack of organizational innovation in the business model, lack of action plans and strategies to navigate the declining global price of tea, rising costs of production, the continued pressure caused by the ageing tea growers and labour shortage. The over-dependency on government programmes and support for the development of the sector in the early days is also one of the causes. The tea sector is currently facing unprecedented and unpredictable challenges for improving productivity, reducing the high costs of production, addressing the ageing of tea growers, shortage of labour and improving the quality of tea. A programmatic and innovative approach that includes a systems-based policy, legislation, and regulatory framework should be the guiding principle for reviving the sector. The proposed business model aims to make optimal use of innovation and digital solutions. In sum, the proposed novel dimension could make an important contribution to carving a niche for Mauritian tea in the competitive global tea markets. Strong government engagement is a pre-requisite for its revival, given the fact that the internal market is satiated, and production is threatened. A holistic approach, from bush to cup is key to a successful transformation of the tea industry.

Random Neve x Bellara headcanons
The reason Neve hasn't had scurvy despite not having veggies for gods know how long is because Bel starts making sneaky veggies recipes. Neve can tell it's veggies (~50-60% accuracy) but eats it anyway (who can resist those big puppy eyes?). Probably threatens anyone on the team who dares telling Bel about the fact that she knows the bread dip has veggies in it.
Bel accidentally invents new poisoning methods while trying to find ways to sneak more veggies into Neve's meals. She doesn't realize she is now on both house Dellamorte and house de Riva' persons of interest list (Neve notices, but can't decipher why, yet).
Bel learns to triple the ingredients whenever they cook together, because while Bel is busy putting an extra kachapuri in an insulated container for Neve's desk, a certain cook assistant takes "a few" bites when the cheese bread is fresh out of the oven.
Bel documents the cases they solve together in a dedicated journal, probably writes it in the style of the serials she likes to read.
Neve starts inviting Bel on Shadow Dragon missions, in which Bel often hides behind Neve because of social anxiety (Dock Town is too crowded).
Bel invites Neve on her field experiments, to which Neve immediately joins because this hyper elf girl might bring the Lighthouse down (there have been close calls).
Neve begins to be more aware of how crazy her sleep schedule is, because Bel gets tired more easily, but still insists on helping. "Alright Bel we need to take a break", which will be met with Bel's high pitch groan about how close they are to solving the case (they are not). Now ironically Neve is the one keeping track of rest schedule and enforcing it.
Neve accidentally finds how hyper Bel gets with coffee after leaving her cup unattended (Bel is so focused on her research she doesn't see what cup she grabs and eventually crashes on Neve's desk.)
The first time Neve hears Bel swears, followed with an angry growl, gritted teeth, and murder stare is when the detective trips mid battle and almost loses her staff (don't worry Bel retrieves it).
The wisps "misplace" Bel's smut with Neve's spicy doodles and both awkwardly pretend they didn't see a thing.

When people say “Let's go get milk tea." nowadays it generally refers to getting some sort of beverage. It is not just limited to milk tea, but it could also refers to fruit tea, fruit juice, milk shakes, yogurts or even coffee. The most popular drink is Mixue’s lemon tea or bubble tea because they are generally the cheapest. Bubble tea with boba are not as common nowadays because I think they are not trendy anymore.
In the cities and especially around shopping districts, there are beverage shops in every corner. Competition is high so instead of coming out with new drinks frequently, accessories such as delivery bags, cup sleeves, straw wrappings and toys are released to stimulate purchase. As a result, there grows collectors who collects those limited release.
A word of caution:
This is a consumerism trap.
Milk tea are not healthy. Sugar is added when they are making the tea concentrate so even “no-added sugar” option does not guarantee no additional sugar in your tea.
Milk tea are highly caffeinated, sometimes even more than coffee.

My cat is currently cuddling me, purring and biting me affectionately whilst typing this.
Now imagine Logan doing this to Wade. He's got his claws partially unsheathed and is pawing at the hand Wade is holding his phone with. Logan tries pulling Wade's hand towards him whilst moving his head in that direction at the same time. Wade has to switch hands and lets Logan just chew on his fingers. It doesn't hurt much so it's fine. Little nomming noises are coming from Wolvie's mouth which can be heard over whatever tv show is playing in the background. They stay like that until Wade decides it's tea time and Logan follows him to the kitchen, ready for his food
Turn up the volume if you wanna hear the purring and nomming noises

The tea sector is a billion dollar industry that can support economies and contribute to sustainable food systems.
Tumblr media
In many developing countries, the tea sector contributes significantly to rural development, poverty reduction and food security, representing, in several cases, a major source of income and employment for millions of poor families. The global tea production amounts annually to over USD 17 billion, while world tea trade is valued at about USD 9.5 billion, accounting for an important source of export earnings. One key characteristic about tea is that smallholders are responsible for 60 percent of world production. Importantly, tea provides productive jobs in rural areas, which empowers households and communities to meet their food security needs and improve their nutritional status. World tea per capita consumption increased by 2.5 percent over the last decade, with marked expansions in tea producing countries. Developing and emerging economies have been driving the growth in demand, with East Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Near East leading the expansion Several factors influence demand for tea, including prices and income variables, demographics such as age, education, occupation, and cultural background. Growing consumption of tea in producing countries, driven by population and income growth, has translated in a decrease of exportable production over the past two decades. Nevertheless, per capita consumption remains low in these countries compared to importing markets, and greater efforts should be directed at expanding demand to explore prevailing market opportunities.
