i started rewatching the dragon prince in anticipation for the new season next month and suddenly i have my own characters lol. I really just wanted to design a couple elves based on the different primal sources so i started with the stars, moon and sky <3 also messy terry and lujanne doodles, they are some of my favorite side characters

Judging from Terry's shocked look when Aaravos appears, I'm thinking that he recognises him as a Startouch elf, and I wonder how much he knows about them.

Do little elves grow up with stories about evil Aaravos, the fallen star?

The Dragon Prince Wedding Cermonies/ Engagement Accessories

Because of the game and new lore info I got curious about Elves and their traditional rituals when it came to marriage/courting. So I went through everything we know canonically and put it together.

Moonshaodow Elves

Engagement Horn Cuffs: Metal rings/cuffs that are adorn and decorated by the lovers to gift each other.

Heartweave Binding: a ritual of tying a heartweave band between the couple on their wedding day and dancing.

Hair Braiding: An intimate act reserved for family members or someone you’re affectionate with. (Courting at times I assume)

Sunfire Elves

Flame Ribbon Dance: Dancers wielding flame whips will do a performance before a proposal.

Engagement Necklaces: The couple on their wedding day will wear matching necklaces and during the ceremony will exchange them.

Blessing Of The Sun: A ritual where an officiant will call upon the Sun to bless the couple, the couple will then raise their hands above their hands and place their palms against each other then their foreheads.

Tidebound Elves

Sea-glass Pendant: When courting they will make a pendant crafted out of Sea-glass and other materials.

Kelp Loveknot: If the courting is accepted and marriage is close a loveknot made out of kelp will be tied around the pendant.

Startouch Elf Life and Death

I don't know how old the world is, but I know Aaravos is about 5000 years old, which is around the era of first elves. I'm guessing he's from the first generation of First elves.

Elves seem to be able to live up to around 300 years, then they are in their elder years. I think for Startouch elves, they at least live to be 30,000 years old. So many eras could pass in that time. Stars live for millions of years in reality. Maybe they live to be millions of years old, but that's the equivalent of someone being around since the dawn of time. I don't think they would choose to live that long. Then again, we haven't had that much of a time span, so we don't know how long they can live to.

As for how they can die, as Leola was killed. People are saying only another Startouch elf can do it, but hear me out...what if they can only be killed in the heavens? Startouch elves are the only ones that go there. When their mortal form is struck down on earth, their essence retreats to the heavens so they can be reborn. If they are struck down in the heavens, their essence will have nowhere to retreat to, thus ending their existence, bringing down their star. It seems that Startouch elves are the only ones capable of doing that however, because they are the only ones that can go there.

every kind of elves in tdp has a different accent, right? so: i used to want tidebound elves to have very strong spanish or slavic accent, but you know what? now i want them to have a southern accent. like, give me a beautiful, majestic elf emerging from the water and make them greet callum, rayla and ezran with 'howdy, partners!' in a ridiculous cowboy accent. give me a tidebound elf, who is towering over the other characters, looking like they came out from the darkest, most dangerous nooks and crannies of the ocean, and make them sound like arthur morgan

Okay, can we talk about this for a sec?

Elves, in general, live to be at least 100, right? Rayla said so herself when she was playing human in Ellis’s village. “…despite my sub-century life expectancy…” (Rayla S1, E7).

Humans live only a few decades. (If we’re going by what’s historical accurate in this instance, maybe 40 or 50.) And humans are the ones who know how to be patient. Elves don’t.

Elves have decades, centuries in some cases, to get what they want. They have time to wait. Humans don’t. And yet, they’re the ones that have to.

Just a thought.
