It takes a lot of self-confidence and planning to turn a hobby into a new career path after attaining stability in one which is as planned out as an office job. Meet Ritu Dalal – who has made it big with her healthy and tasty home bakes. Her baking venture is known as ‘Marron brown-bliss’ which gets its name from French origin. ‘Marron’ means brown in French and everything that you use to bake without cream and colour is some shade of brown colour. One of the core concepts of this venture is to eat healthily, a basic example would be using jaggery instead of sugar in all her home-baked goodies!

TastyBaker: You have raised spying into an art form. Your name’s Bond. James Bond. RoyalEclair: If that was the case, I would have known what you look like wouldn’t I? TastyBaker: I’m not sure you don’t. RoyalEclair: Don’t tempt me. RoyalEclair: How come you are up this late? TastyBaker: I have the minions on fryer duty tomorrow. RoyalEclair: Fryer? What are you going to do? Doughnuts? TastyBaker: Don’t be rude. Close, though. Comparison between eclairs (cheers!), profiteroles, churros and tulumbas. RoyalEclair: Bamiyeh TastyBaker: Close but without yogurt. All made with similar pastry dough, alike choux pastry TastyBaker: Someone has to fry the churros. RoyalEclair: And the tulumbas. TastyBaker: Already in syrup. RoyalEclair: And where will you be? TastyBaker: James Bond, alright. Need to deal with something. RoyalEclair: Ominous. RoyalEclair: Should I feel sorry for them? TastyBaker: Not really. TastyBaker: Well, maybe... TastyBaker: Have a good time with your family. RoyalEclair: Thanks. Give them hell. Talk to you tomorrow.

#marchmeethemaker #day20 - Marketing As far as I'm concerned, marketing for Tasty Bakes has always been about making a connection with people, making sure people know what I can do and how I can do it. And, of course, feeding them deliciousness! I know you need to do the whole website, have social media presence, blah blah, but mostly I find my orders come via word of mouth and connections, people that you talk to, people that you listen to. I had one future bride give me a hug right before ordering her cake and said I was the first cake maker she had spoken to that actually listened and cared about what she wanted, and that was worth so much to her. So I'll just keep on keeping on, doing the best I can, moving onwards and upwards and past this bloody virus, making these days pass a bit better by way of yumminess. Especially at the moment, we all need to make sure to look after ourselves extra carefully, it's such a stressful time for everybody right now. Well. I have been attempting a "couch to 10k" running programme for about 4 years now.... I tend to get halfway through it and stop! So I've set myself a challenge for this "shutdown" period where I will actually complete the C25K version! (Thank you Rundouble app <3) I love running. Well, I really do not run, it's more of a stop and start speed walk. So I'll rephrase. I love getting outside. The fresh air. The silence (apart from my laboured breathing, sorry about that on the video LOL). That short time each day where nobody wants anything from me (except my legs and lungs screaming at me to stop). That "just me" time. That solitude to get my thoughts in order....
