there is a mourning dove and a brown-headed cowbird circling each other at my bird feeder this morning and I have created an elaborate backstory that ends with them falling in love despite the enmity of their families and also how she's quite a bit larger than him, all before my morning coffee.

people have gotta just get it into their head that "healthier" means healthier and "cleaner" means cleaner and "skinnier" means skinnier and absolutely none those things are synonyms of each other, and they're definitely not synonyms of "better." stop debating on whether or not things are the healthiest option and start arguing that healthiest isn't always the goal

#grilled chicken breast and mixed veggies are always going to be the healthier food option....#and since when is that agreed that that's Better than a steak or gelato or enchiladas or whatever else #if i went into a restaurant and asked what they thought the best thing on the menu was and they said the grilled chicken breast w/ veggies.#i would be upset #and judge their taste

Also it looks like I’ll be taking ex-coworker out for pho this weekend, she’s never had it before :V if I’m being evil and strategic, I won’t tell her that it’s a cash only place so I can pay her back for the burger. but I suppose the fair thing to do is give her autonomy and fight over the bill on equal terms rather than having an unfair advantage.

#my ramblings #tbh it’s been pretty easy to cut takeout out of my spending habits #because I kind of hate ordering delivery #the food prices are jacked up AND you have to pay and tip the driver AND the food isn’t as fresh #I’d rather eat at a restaurant as a treat or eat with friends if it comes down to it #and also food is so expensive in the usa #I used to think a reasonable amount to spend on lunch was 10-15 and a reasonable price for dinner was 20-25 #nowadays the prices aren’t that…#any time I see the price of a cucumber roll I wince #that guy used to be $4 tops what do you mean it’s being sold for $5-6 #also also I never trust delivery from a restaurant I haven’t been to #in fact I barely trust delivery from a restaurant I *HAVE* been to #there’s a place that only does hash browns for the breakfast menu #like grated potato hash browns #I love when the potatoes are grated. I hate grating potatoes for hash browns but it tastes so good.#ANYWAY I paid the STUPID upcharged price for delivery #and it came COLD #so fucking mad. I’ll never order delivery from that place again.#I’ll go to eat tho I haven’t been there in a while #it’s a little fancy. not like folded napkin fancy but farm to table fancy.#eating out at a restaurant last weekend was like ‘yeah I do enjoy this :) especially going to restaurants I enjoy :)’

I went in with exactly zero plans besides "make pretty pearl-like jewelry" and you know what? #NailedIt Although I did get a little lazy there for the back view; literally just copied the front view and smushed things around with various transformation tools lol. You can tell by how blurry it is. You can also tell that I added another little dangly thing towards the side of the cloak that wraps around front, because it's not all blurry XD

Learned a recipe for achma today and it is literally Georgian kugel. I love convergent culinary evolution so much. Also learned a recipe for a Ukrainian Romani vegetable dish my friend's family makes and a Lebanese aromatic stew that is served over rice. Really excited to try cooking these soon

This year I tried several new types of fish #I like to find a restaurant and order something different every time. thinking about how if i had chosen architecture for college I'd have probably spent the last three years making a percy jackson themed park just for funsies

#it'd be a section on disneys hollywood studios #there would be a tunnel of love water ride with a fall in the exact moment percy and annabeth would be flying over the gates #a capture the flag ride that would be either like toy story mania or peter pans flight and it ended with percy being claimed #either having the 12 cabins or making it seem like the cabins are in the distance while the main area is the big house #campers running around with capture the flag suits every friday #a whole simulator on grovers perspective when he's using the winged shoes #a peter pans flight inspired ride telling tlt story #a restaurant inspired by the dining pavilion and having the most diverse menu you could imagine #blue food! selling ambrosia and nectar that taste like chocolate chips cookies!#like disney you have SO much potential on your hands #this could be the coolest theme park in the whole world if they play their cards right #and the amount of different and cool rides they could get inspired by the other books #a sun chariot roller coaster a blackjack ride an oracle attraction similar to the turtle talk with crush #maybe i should study architecture bc im going insane with this #pjo #percy jackson #percy jackson and the olympians #A WHOLE ATTRACTION WHERE YOU GET CLAIMED

pros of trying a new restaurant: the lady working the front counter said i was really pretty :)

cons of trying a new restaurant: i got food poisoning from it

#this solidifies my belief that trying new things sucks bad and isnt good #which sucks bc i really wanted to try jamaican food and i think if i went to a better restaurant i would've enjoyed it :(#it wasn't even a restaurant it was a bar with food in it. i should've known but i wanted to give the benefit of the doubt #i was fully dressed makeup and everything and then we walked inside and realized it's just a bar and got our bar food to go #then watched one piece at home. i was still in my dress and makeup so it counted as a date :)#love the lady working the front counter though i will think about her forever. ily girl #one day we'll try jamaican food but it will be at an actual sit down restaurant not a bar and i bet it'll be so good #the menu at this bar was weird bc it only let you order like 4 different foods depending on which day it is #i really wanted this like plantain sandwich type thing? but i couldn't order it bc it was on tuesday's menu #very sad... it looked divine #THEIR PLATAINS WERE SO GOOD i've never had a plantain so delicious in my life #also this bread they had!! it was like a sweet bread in the shape of a baguette. i think it was called festival? it was DELICIOUS #so the food wasn't all bad. just the goat curry that came out lukewarm and gave me a stomachache #honestly for bar food that's pretty ambitious so for that alone i give them credit #it didn't taste bad either. i just wish it didn't poison me

#the valley is posting #this restaurant is so good that it ruins every other vietnamese restaurant in the city for me #there are a ton of vietnamese restaurants where i live and a lot of them are uber-fancy modern spaces with expensive menus #but the /best/ food is still this tiny little family-run hole in the wall teahouse #everything they do is delicious but their pho is so good; it has so much flavor while remaining light and balanced #literally makes every other restaurant's pho taste either bland or over-seasoned in comparison
