A bunch of my H!P dvds came today, I got them all pretty cheap from yahoo japan. I've got some Morning Musume OG concerts on their way too that were only available through the fanclub. Been feeling nostalgic for the old Hello! project lately. I miss a lot of these girls.

It hurts my heart whenever people talk about the best H!P singers in history, will remember Ai-chan and Ayaya and even Asuka but leave out Taiyo & Ciscomoon, especially T&C’s Ruru. I mean there’s a reason why their debut Music Station performance had the audience and even the other artists on the show screaming and hollering.

I’d rather wanna see a Great Shuffle in H!P to take place this time. Disbanding all the H!P groups at once and reorganizing all the members into a few group. Obviously the current H!P system needs a drastic reform, to shake H!P itself and wota’s mindset free from the good old Mobekimas System. In my very biased opinion, the new H!P should be based on a stable foundation of consistent Kenshuusei system. Just like the one of Hogwarts, every trainee would be sorted into four to six houses after some basic training term. The Houses would consist of Morning Musume, Angerme (inherits S/mileage’s heritage and represents freewheeling aspect), Juice=Juice (mostly inherits the heritages Taiyo to Ciscomoon and represents skillful aspect), Kobushi Factory (might change its name, and mostly inherits Berryz’ heritage and represents enjoyable aspect), Tsubaki Factory (might change its name, and mostly inherits C-ute’s heritage and represents stylish aspect), and one more house which reinforces other Houses as needed just like Senka of Takarazuka Revue. In some cases the Factories could be combined into one which inherits the heritage of Berrikyuu. And all the houses would share a whole archive of H!P song repertoir. Each house can perform whatever song they like. This new system would solve the shortage of musical resources by utilizing the legacy of the past effectively and would allow H!P to have more members and trainees. Ultimately “members” and “musical pieces” are the most valuable things in H!P, and should be well sustained by rotation and accumulation. More members, more profit. And only securing enough profit could secure the peace of member’s minds as well as wota’s. I believe there must be Yamazaki Naoki behind all the maneuverings in the past 3 months. If he’s still dreaming of creating his own Takarazuka, this might be the time to pave the way. And I would endure and go through all the agony and sadness the Great Shuffle could evoke, only to make Hello! Project into a new Takarazuka Revue or a distant successor to Kabuki Theater eventually in the future.

Q3 Roundup, Concerning Q4, and Other News
Greetings, Citizens of the Universe!
Hope you’ve had a good summer and having a good autumn. Quite a bit has happened since the last roundup, both on the blog and in the J-pop world, so let’s cut to the chase:
Q3 Roundup
Hello! Project
On the Hello! Project side, we’ve had quite a bit of content here.
We started off the quarter with a Ping Pong Pinpoint news digest.
As for the reviews, we gave the spotlight to v-u-den (Tomboyish Ponies in Paradise), Berryz Koubou (War Cry of Friendship WAO! and We Can’t Live Without You (But We Must)), Taiyou to Ciscomoon (Spacey La Ta Ta), and GAM (Thanks for Tonight!)
At the end of the grand month of August, we transitioned into September (and autumn) with a small news post.
After that came the 2018 Ice Fairy Day post, the final M3 Anniversary review (Sgt. Pepper’s Wonderful Hearts Club Band), and the Q3 Anniversary Review Vote winner (C-uties Playing Handball in O-Edo).
Outside Hello! Project
As noted on the announcement post, the big event for Q3 was Magic Metal Meteora, celebrating the Kawaii Metal/Alternative Idol scene.
The first two posts were dedicated to the “progenitors” of the scene, BABYMETAL (BABYMETAL Resistance) and BiS (and BiSH) (Brand-new idols Are WACK). The next posts were dedicated to acts I myself found interesting, representing the impact the aforementioned groups had: LADYBABY (The Idols Possibly Known As LADYBABY) and DEADLIFT LOLITA (They Lift: The Strongest Idols (That Aren’t Ice Fairies)).
Concerning Q4
Q3 was an amazing busy and exhausting time for me (I blame the BiS/H focus post. I felt years being taken out of my life during production). Either way, the show must go on.
Hello! Project released some stuff (and will be releasing stuff), a Musume is graduating (get those graduation messages in for that fan project!), a Country Girl joined a college idol group, and the world just keeps on turning.
There’s also the fact that in the midst of celebrating H!P’s 20 years of spectacle, there was one year that was oddly left out: 2018! My intention is to remedy that by finally covering those releases, in addition to the remaining years (2001, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2012).
Wish me luck and pray for my sanity!
Momusu M3 Grand Prix + Q4 Anniversary Vote
If you’ve been keeping up with the Momusu M3 Grand Prix, then you’d know that the Second Round was restarted in July and concluded in early September.
The Third Round began immediately afterwards and I am pleased to report that barring some tie- and weather-related hiccups, things went rather smoothly and we are now in the Fourth Round!
Speaking of which, the Q4 Anniversary Vote is now in normal mode as of this post! Voting ends November 29th.
Regardless of what happens, thank you very much for your support. Please continue to support M3 and the idols that inspire it.
