I am NOT attempting to influence and control your behaviour. what you are doing is theorising what another REAL PERSON has gone through and saying that he has gone through shit because of what he writes his characters into. what your intial reblog has come off to me is parasocial- specifically claiming to know someone based on the kind of content they create. what I was trying to do was advising you to step back from what I perceived as potentially parasocial behaviour.

you want to talk about white supremacy and cults? fine. i guess being a fucking PERSON OF COLOUR IN A RED STATE SURROUNDED BY WHITE PEOPLE DOESNT MEAN I KNOW SHIT. I brought that up as an personal example of things that people write about without any firsthand experience in. and don't say that 'you've been affected by cults, therefore obviously you have trauma or actual experience.' if I wanted to talk about the cult of white nationalism, I would specifically mention white supremacy, white nationalism, something like that. I used CULTS, meaning the stereotypical religious cult one would think of when mentioning the term.

I've taken into account what the show presents us, I've analysed and rambled about different points about it multiple times. what I have not done is take into account what the actual showrunner has experienced because HE, AS A PERSON, DOES NOT SEEM TO BE WANTING TO SHOW US ANYTHING ALONG THOSE LINES ANY TIME SOON. art is absolutely about putting in your own experiences, your own emotion, but it is not something that we take as an open call to psychoanalyse the actual real life person.

we know vincent van gogh's specific mental issues through letters exchanged with his brother. what we know about adi shankar is through interviews. has adi shankar in an interview alluded to such a deep and personal trauma such as being groomed by an older man? no. no he has not. he has stated he immigrated to america at a young age, which if anything, should invoke the ideas of the american dream into our minds when consuming his work (and its especially applied to captain laserhawk as a show). this information does not allude in any way shape or form that he was groomed. if he wanted us to consume his art with the knowledge that he personally relates to the victims he writes into his stories, he would mention it somewhere in ANY interview he has ever done.

but he doesn't. because writers, musicians, and artists, are all real people. we are people on the internet who have little to know chance of intimately knowing about this man. we do NOT have a right to theorise and say that this man is a victim when he has not given us any hint that he WANTS us to know that. no, writing it into his shows is not a hint. it is not an invitation for speculation. he is not calling us to speculate about him, a real person. that is my main point.

to prevent parasocial relationships, we must remind ourselves that the specific information that a celebrity gives out to us, whether through ACTUAL ALLUSIONS, confrontation, or hints towards anything, is what we should use to speculate about a person. The tidbit about how shankar had immigrated to america at 15 should lead us to speculate about his life as someone who is an american dreamer. an interview with a celebrity is meant to give us insight to the thoughts that they would like to share. things are left out for a reason because there is a real person behind the idol. we especially forget this in our modern day and age of the internet. please remind yourself of this, no matter how much you dont want to because you're stubborn. how would you like it if someone you didnt know poked and prodded at your own deepest trauma? you alluded to it. surely you would want a total stranger to use your own writing as a way to say that you most definitely are a victim. do you, a person, not command a level of privacy despite allegedly bearing your heart to the world?

if you KNOW within interviews that adi shankar has ever even slightly alluded to being a victim of grooming, show me.

Mutsuki and Urie: Listen. LISTEN. The communication issues. It's so *chef's kiss*. Urie is more or less canonically in love with Mutsuki after that time he impaled him and instead of getting mad Mutsuki gave him a hug. But he refuses to admit he cares about him even though it's fairly obvious that he's his favorite person. Also Mutsuki is obsessed with their teacher, who after a series of traumatizing experiences he stalks and tries to murder, so that's another rift in their relationship. Urie is so clearly jealous and also enables Mutsuki's unhealthy coping mechanism by just ignoring the fact that there is definitely a problem until it becomes too big to ignore and Mutsuki inadvertently nearly causes an apocalypse. And then they fight and Mutsuki tries to kill Urie. They're both such deeply fucked up people and they have such huge communication issues that they're practically on different planets and they've each tried to seriously hurt each other multiple times and they insult each other (or Urie insults Mutsuki before he falls deeply in love with him) and also Mutsuki is somewhat canonically trans and it's Not Handled Well but also they're an amazingly fucked up shit and I love them

Scott in Scars video was high-key trying to guilt trip him the whole time

As if he hadn't been barely more than an acquaintance Scar. As if he'd actually been there for him when Scar has been alone the whole season. As if this isn't a death game and in the end it's every player for themselves

The specific quotes I noted were “Scar remember I gave you a sword and was your best ally the entire time?” and “I did so much for you” among other things (you shouldn’t have betrayed me etc etc) which. yes, scott gave him a sword one time. that’s it. It was very nice of him to do that, but I wouldnt call it “best ally the entire time” material.

It’s very reminiscent of earlier in the season when Scott was trying to bargain for diamonds from Scar as part of a task, and then Scar burnt the only diamond he had in front of him. It wasn’t that deep but Scott was so offended that he went and told three different people that Scar was mean to him, and later confronted Scar personally about it (to which Scar stunned him silent by bringing up the whole stealing Lizzie’s spine thing). Scott has personal difficulty believing anybody would want to be mean to him, so anytime people aren’t nice to him in a way he can’t rationalize away he stews on it and makes it out to be way deeper than it actually is. Like. Okay for example if a stranger came by and kicked him on the street he would *need* to know why. It can’t just be because “I felt like it man” there would have to be some deeper underlying reason and he would have to know what it is.

Scott has a system, which is as follows: be nice to everybody, make friends and do people favors, so that in the endgame nobody will want to go after him. The average scott confrontation will end in scott going “remember that one time I did this thing for you? I’ve been nothing but nice to you” and this is what he was trying to do here. When that system fails him he assumes the other person must “have a vendetta” and not like him personally and reads into it wayyy more than he should…

Because people and relationships are give and take for him. He gives things to people, they give things back, he remains in good standing and nobody wants to attack him. This is his shield. He finds comfort in it. He cannot fathom people not returning that favor, it pricks at him it bothers him because the world can’t work like that. The world works for *him*; if he doesn’t do anything wrong, then nothing bad can actually happen to him. Cleo may be his best friend but the just-world fallacy is his BEST friend. That and hindsight bias he passionately kisses hindsight bias under the stars every night but that’s a different post

TL;DR: Scott thinks people not being nice to him or paying back his favors is a rude personal slight because he can’t handle the idea that people would *want* to be mean to him or “betray” him. (Everything has to go his way because he’s been nice and he deserves it)

Like it's such a terrible show, it's the animation and the music is all it'a got going for it. It has no real story, the characters are so fucking basic, and you can tell exactly how the show is gonna end halfway through episode 1.

because i cannot count how many hours i've searched for a gif of a line of dialogue only to find scene pack gif sets that stop right before it, and start right after it, when there's like, three lines of dialogue in between.

i am not exaggerating when i say that i have spent entire days scrolling and trying different tags and whatever to find a gif of part of a scene, and find gifs of the rest of the scene, but not the one section i need. i swear to whatever divine power that might be up there that i have started looking for a gif at 8:00am, and did not find it after scrolling until fucking 10:00pm.

like oh my fucking god, end me

just do the whole scene. i don't understand what you gain from cutting part of the conversation out when your entire thing is creating scene packs!!

i've dabbled in gif making, and i am not downplaying how much time and effort it takes. there is some serious skill that has to be learned to make high quality gifs, both normal ones of the content and edit ones with effects.

i am perfectly aware, and i appreciate you people so, so much, because i genuinely feel like well placed gifs enhance my essays or provide a clearer picture for what i'm discussing. i am genuinely so grateful that there are people out there who choose to spend their time making nice scene pack gif sets.

which is why it is fucking infuriating when you do basically the whole scene anyway, and cut out just one small section. you were there, doing the scene already. why did you exclude just one part of a scene?! someone please tell me why!?!

Guys, I'm begging you to be a little bit patient with me and with this blog. Me not answering long asks immediately doesn't mean they got eaten or deleted or ignored. There's a reason I sometimes ask for short asks. I love the long stuff but also it's difficult to read and reply to multiple paragraphs on my phone and getting "WELL SHIT I GUESS ALL MY ASKS GOT EATEN" messages an hour after receiving them is really frustrating.
