so im very confused by the shadow dragons backstory. bc like ''adopted into a military family'' could mean a lot like is this centralized to minrathous ? and are we talking nobility or just like. a family of fighters lol. bc it makes sense for human and dwarven rooks but absolutely falls apart for elves and qunari ????

Weekly delusional theory time yay 🥳
It's fun to think Solas is a tired mess of an elf who can't plan anything without screwing it all up. How can that weirdo possibly achieve his goal? More so, how did he even trapped elven gods?
By playing the game with well known rules. Like, idk, chess?
Look, the figures are different so as maybe the board but the rules are the same. And tactics. All he need is to be inconspicuous and discreet as always.
Tumblr media
Distract the enemy, let them think they're winning, then strike.
Tumblr media
It's already a proven strategy: take the unlucky one (Inquisitor/Rook), put them into the middle of worldwide catastrophe (Breach/Evanuris), step aside, offer your help, guide them wherever course you need, give them shelter (Skyhold/Lighthouse), look trustworthy, when all is over - say byebye and continue following your plan.
Yes there's still a few blind spots and something that can't be foreseed yet there's also a time to prepare yourself. Did Solas have a plan in case Inquisitor would've been failed? Presumably. If he has a plan in case Rook will fail? Presumably.
A part with Inquisitor' involving back in time was an improvisation but it paid off. Unintended risk it was however; not a comfort zone but odds depending play, like Wicked Grace. Quite efficient though. Why not try again but with some improvements?
Solas didn't know who Inquisitor is before the Conclave. Now (I'm like 78% sure) he knows who Rook is.
Varric chased Solas for some time and Solas was well aware of it. Varric didn't pick up Rook just before the beginning of the game. Their dialogue assumes they know each other (for some time, like weeks idk?). I bet Solas knew about "da4 protagonist", had time to look closer and fit Rook into his plans. That's why after all these years (10!) it was surprisingly easy to find him and even interrupt the ritual. Because it was intended.
(I won't be surprised if all this "ah help I trapped in the Fade" situation turns out to be a top tier wolf prank)
Right, but why make your life harder and involve a random mortal? As a wild guess: evanuris must be released to tear down the Veil. Seven gods, seven seals - get rid of them and follow your dream, destroy the Veil and restore your ✨perfect elvhen empire✨. Why risk and deal with two evanuris himself when you can move one of the pawns? Place your rivals against each other and look. Inquisitor won and proved mortals are not useless, so Rook can win too. And if Rook fails, you can intervene and finish the job.
I also think that's the reason why Inquisitor will be back. And I think Solas won't like it. Inquisitor is the one who can say, "What's going on here? Hey, I've seen it before. I know what you're up to". Without them Solas is quite comfortable with drawing a portrait of a tired lonely being who's easy to sympathize with. But a sudden Inquisitor's comeback can mess this up.
I'm not saying he doesn't deserve sympathy or he's a pure evil. He had enough time to turn his flaws and destructive feelings into useful tools. And if he uses his guilt/loneliness/despair when it's needed it doesn't make it a less real. The dude is complex like rocket science after all.
For now, as it seems to me, Solas intends to "replay" Inquisition because it went kinda well. Minimal risk as he may think. What the odds another mortal happened to be unique too? They doesn't even bear a ✨magnificent elvhen magic✨ mark! Poor bastard (affectionate), he doesn't even know what comes.. But I swear to gods, above and below, if he'll do that "what we had was real" thing again, I'll kill everyone in that game and then tear that freaking Veil down myself.

Beans Day and How my OCs Fare During
Happy Beans Day has finally dropped in EN and while absolutely no one asked, here are some headcanons about how Yuulan and the rest of my twst babies would do during the event.
First, who would be on which team.
🌱Farmer Team
Yuulan
Danica
Crisanta
Iman
Vidaria
👾Monster Team👾
Taima
Sidonie
Ione
Farron
Maximilian
Tumblr media
As my designated yuusona, Yuulan experiences Beans Day more or less the same way as MC in the game. She fares reasonably well with her wit and always mentally being one step ahead of even her teammates. She’s wary af after Cater sent Deuce adrift and isn’t too keen on him always tagging their location in his magicam pics and after they all almost get caught in the botanical garden…yeah, she’s had enough.
Briefly meets up with Crisanta and they make a good duo. This is their first real moment interacting with each other and they get along well. Crisanta ends up sacrificing herself to keep Yuulan in the game.
Tumblr media
She’s understandably pissed that both Taima and Sidonie are on the monster team but she deals well. The night before, she and Taima come to a soul sisters agreement to leave each other alone during the event, and for the most part, they do.
Tries to make the same agreement with Sidonie but Vil doesn’t allow it and Rook is strangely very excited at the prospect of capturing the petit cygne of Pomefiore.
Begins her day in the same starting point as Epel and they keep each other company for the first few hours. Though small in frame, she’s actually very fast and physically agile from years of dancing and she and Epel are able to keep each other safe up until they run into Riddle and Vil.
Regrets it immediately when Vil won’t stop scolding her for wearing a scented moisturizer that could give them away. And when Floyd joins the group she tries to convince Vil that he’d be a liability but he doesn’t listen. At this point, Danica lowkey wants to leave because she doesn’t like Floyd’s nickname for her and she’s concerned his mood swings may compromise them later. But she stays because there’s power in numbers and even her agility has its limits.
After getting separated from her group at the botanical garden, Danica is on her own for the remainder of the game. She runs into Ione and uses her last beans on her. She tries to run further in the woods to put some distance between herself and potential monsters with the plan to find a crate with more beans before finding her group again. She does find a crate but it ends up being her undoing when the crate turns out to be a trap and she’s ambushed by the science club trio.
More under the cut!
Tumblr media
Tries (and fails) to convince Idia to join in on the fun since they’re both on the same team. Spends the majority of her day with a handful of Heartslabyul students also on her team until they get separated in an ambush
Briefly meets up with Yuulan and since she’s never seen Crisanta do anything duplicitous or stupid (yet), she feels slightly better about teaming up with her.
The duo is spotted by Trey but Crisanta sacrifices herself to keep Yuulan in the game. Really, she is about on Riddle’s level of physical prowess and it’s incredible that she’s made it this long. So lowkey, she was looking for a way out anyway.
Tumblr media
Unlike Danica, Iman has the good fortune of her BFF being on the same team as her. Even though they are at separate starting points, they eventually do find each other. She does pretty well in the first hours of the day and doesn’t deal with any ambushes until she runs into Farron and Maximilian who ambush her at a crate box. Or so they thought.
As it turns out, Iman has been CHEATING by using her UM* when it looks like she’ll be captured. Because she didn’t want to team up with anyone, it was only a matter of time before was eliminated but she doesn’t want that either; she’s trying to hold out long enough to meet up with her partner in crime Vidaria. She ends up beaning Maximilian and bribes him and Farron to not rat her out, which they agree to. At least Maximilian agrees, Farron on the other hand…
Finally, Iman does find Vidaria, softly weeping behind a tree. She has not had a good day at all and she’s thrilled to have a friend beside her finally. Since her hiding place is pretty secluded, they decide to stay there for the time being, camping and sniping any solo monsters that come around. Vidaria’s loot crate included a radio, so she knows when monsters are close. This works for a while…until the science club trio begins approaching them. Vidaria REALLY does not want to interact with Rook so in a moment of genuine kindness and friendship, Iman creates a diversion where she bolts off right in their direction so Vidaria can run in the opposite way. Surprisingly, this works.
She plans to make a run for the botanical garden, but Sidonie is aware of her using her UM and can outwit her. She captures Iman and pretends not to notice the apparent violation of the beanfest rules. Iman goes off to the botanical garden anyway, having lunch with Kalim and attempting (unsuccessfully) to warn him of the approaching monsters. She leaves, but not before wrapping up some shawarma to give Vidaria at her new hiding spot.
The following day, Iman is called into a meeting with Crowley and Coach Vargas. Turns out Farron DID tell them about Iman cheating and Sidonie doing the same added strength to his testimony. She’s suspended from classes for two weeks, confined to her dorm but not before being given an extra special training regiment with Vargas. If Iman disliked Sidonie before because of her rivalry with Vidaria, she’s DEFINITELY on her shitlist now, Farron too.
Tumblr media
This entire event brings up less than pleasant childhood memories for her, so she’s not very excited about it and even the prospect of teaming up with Iman does little to console her. The night before, Silver creates a calming potion that she relies on for most of the day. She begins at the same starting point as Epel and Danica and while the latter isn’t overfond of her, they reluctantly agree to team up.
During an ambush at a loot crate, Vidaria gets separated from them but she isn’t all that upset about it. She runs into Malleus and he decides to humor her and allow her to follow behind him. They don’t talk much but Malleus’ strength is such that Vidaria really doesn’t have to use her bean shooter at all. She thinks she can deal with this until she and Iman can meet up.
Until they run into Lilia, who teases Malleus about protecting his bride as he tries to capture her. Malleus prevents this and gets into a very heated duel with his vice dorm leader. But sadly, this incident triggers Vidaria’s PTSD and she’s run out of Silver’s potion by this point. She ends up running off deeper into the woods, finding a large tree to hide behind, and cry.
Iman finds her like this and her presence helps bring Vidaria back to reality and by the time they’ve parted ways, she’s in a much better mental state. She finds a new hiding place at the stables where she and Iman meet up again towards the end of the day. But she is captured by a Heartslabyul student on the monster team. Later that night, Lilia apologizes to Vidaria for frightening her and gives her an anti-anxiety potion more potent than the one Silver gave her. She now takes it weekly, and it has done wonders for her state of mind.
Tumblr media
Taima is physically the strongest of all my twst ocs and fares extremely well during this event compared to most everyone else. Unfortunately, she starts off at the same starting point as Ace and Sebek. She gets along well with the former but the latter…well let’s just say she’s still salty about the spelldrive tournament and he’s still waiting for an apology.
At some point, this monster trio runs into Danica but Taima is determined to keep their promise and neither girl attacks each other. Ace goes chasing after her (which ends up being his undoing) and Sebek loudly scolds Taima for letting Danica escape. He demands that if they run into her again, Taima won’t hold back and she agrees. If Sebek will keep that energy if they run into Malleus. He does not reply.
Both are eliminated early but their time together is surprisingly civil, even amiable at times. And what ends up doing them in surprisingly is NOT Sebek’s chronic inability to lower his voice but an incident where Taima slips and falls in a creek attempting to get away from him in a fit of frustration. Her ankle is sprained and Sebek decides to carry her to the infirmary himself despite her protests. Though she will never admit it, Taima’s opinion of Sebek is slowly improving and vice versa.
“Why is it, everytime we’re together, I end up injured?”
Tumblr media
What Sidonie lacks in physical prowess, she makes up for with her intellect. She nearly captures Danica and Epel (thanks to Danica’s scented lotion) but didn’t count on the former being so fast.
Ends up spending her day with Rook and Trey (yay, science club trio!) and together make a very dangerous monster trio. They end up catching a lot of farmers between her keenness helping to keep flying beans at bay, Rook’s passion for hunting the other students, even if just for fun, and Trey makes a good leader of the group too. Though she could stand for a little less teasing from Rook about her mutual crush on Trey.
After Danica get’s separated from her group at the botanical garden, the trio corner her and, this time, manage to capture her since she’s out of beans by this point. Later, Sidonie gets sniped with Trey by Jade.
Tumblr media
The only people at NRC that Ione gets along with are Riddle and Crisanta and they’re both on the farmer team so she’s not really into the game from the start.
Runs into Danica when she’s alone and when the latter immediately goes on the offensive, she doesn’t even bother defending herself. Danica ends up using her last beans on Ione but deep down, Ione couldn’t be more thrilled to be out of the game.
Tumblr media
Joins Maximilian with a team of assorted monsters and his athleticism is instrumental in helping his team capture several farmers. His teammates outside his dorm are actually surprised to realize how strong Farron really is, considering his willowy appearance.
Towards the middle of the day, his team encounters Malleus. Farron wants to leave him be since he (rightfully) thinks his group is no match for him but because the group is made up of mostly ignorant freshmen and Maximilian makes a hobby of always choosing violence, they do engage with the dragon fae and get their asses handed to them. Out of the group of seven monsters, only Farron, Maximilian, and one Octanivelle freshman remain.
Later, the three ambush Iman at a farmer's loot crate and Farron discovers she’s cheating by using her UM. Maximilian and their Octanivelle companion are beaned but Iman bribes them. Farron takes no bribe but promises to remain quiet…with his fingers crossed...
Tumblr media
Begins the day at the same starting point as Ace, Sebek and Taima and joins them for the first few hours. Joins Ace when he goes after Danica and is nearly beaned by her, Ace is not so lucky though.
When he tries to return to Sebek and Taima, he finds Farron’s group instead and figures he’d fare better with them. This turns out to be the right call until they run into Malleus.
When Iman takes him out, she bribes him with a pair of very rare green diamonds. So he promises to keep quiet about her cheating. Farron makes his disapproval clear but surprisingly, he doesn’t rat out his senpai for taking the bribe and Maximilian ends the day with only minor bruises to his pride and a lovely new set of rare diamonds. His only regret? He wishes Jade could have been the one to bean him.
*I’ll be adding Iman’s profile soon but basically, her UM is called “Desert Mirage”. She splits herself in two with only the double (or mirage) being visible for a brief amount of time. Whatever she is doing before triggering her UM is what the mirage will do. For example, if she’s being chased, she triggers her UM so the person chasing her unknowingly goes after her mirage and she can go in an opposite direction.

Hello there! Could I request some headcanons of the dorm leaders with a female reader who's like a Disney princess (is extremely compassionate, has a great singing voice, animals love them, etc) please and thank you!!
Malleus and Leona are already done and they’re here~~
Enjoy~~
Tumblr media
❤️ you and Riddle are often seen together in the garden taking care of hedgehogs, even though you spend most of that time inquiring why are they colorful. Since animals love you, they don’t prick you at all (on the contrary Riddle is covered in quills and later you have to tend to his small injuries),
,,Like, how can a hedgehog be pink?” “You don’t have pink hedgehogs in your world?” “No?”
❤️ tea parties
❤️ a lot of tea parties,
❤️ you often make flower crowns from the wrongly-painted roses in the garden and Riddle constantly refuses to wear them (yet he keeps them in his room till they wither, then he uses dried flowers as bookmarks),
❤️ Riddle literally craves your attention. You’re one of the few peoples who doesn’t question his attachment to the rules and how he enforce them, no, instead you politely word your opinion and then assure him that you will be always there for him,
❤️ honestly, Riddle needs someone compassionate, non-judgmental, patient and extremely affable. Your tender, gentle touch or your kind words which praises him are making up for the lack of kindness from his mother in his childhood. Riddle at first is not accustomed to your affection, but after a while, he realises he absolutely needs it,
,,But seriously, I need to know why they’re pink. Is this a dye, some genes or magic?” “New rule 811 - one shall not question the color of hedgehogs”
Tumblr media
💙 your compassion is what drew him to you, after all isn’t he a benevolent man himself when he wants to be?
💙 he is a master manipulator and you wouldn’t even notice his subtle tricks. When Azul wants your compassion, affection or affability, he will get it with his carefully phrased words,
💙 in his eyes you were naïve, squeamish and probably easy to manipulate girl. So naturally, Leech twins were sent to persuade you to seek help from generous Azul. He was quite surprised when Jade told him you politely refused with a smile and then shamelessly proceeded to ask questions about their tails. Azul was, hmmm, stunned, while you were just curious about ocean creatures,
💙 no matter what misfortune happens in your life, your spirit remains cheerful and unaffected (even though all those events are carefully planned by Azul and are caused by Leech twins),
💙 eventually, Azul won’t admit, but he seeks comfort in your kind words, praises you always direct at him when he manages to achieve something. Your bright spirit doesn’t make him end his shady ways, but you definitely help him slowly forget about his past. You’re making him feel special and valid. You tried to change him for the better, yet you failed miserably,
💙 absolutely loves when you sing, he could listen to your voice for hours (yes, he tried to make a contract to take it from you)
💙 sometimes Azul can’t help himself and take advantage of your kind heart and gullibility. He is a greedy and unscrupulous businessman after all,
💙 and sometimes you can’t help yourself and remind him that he should finish with his fishy business,
Tumblr media
🧡 absolutely adores you, you’re like the definition of his ideal type,
🧡 cheerful and affable? Checked. Sociable and caring? Checked. Good at singing and dancing? Checked.
🧡 you are a perfect match for each other, always beaming with happiness and your positive energy combined together sometimes it’s too much for Jamil,
🧡 Kalim often sings duets with you and you both are often found dancing together or practicing new steps,
🧡 you and Kalim are both carefree and usually don’t really think about consequences of your actions, so you often get in trouble (mostly it’s you who is targeted by Azul and his golden contracts),
🧡 Jamil is not fazed anymore when he sees you both wrecking chaos accidentally,
🧡 from now on, you both are competing over the title of “The Most Cheerful In Whole School”,
🧡 carpet rides under star-studded sky are one of your favourite ways to spend time together,
🧡 Oh, and you absolutely adores his elephants and get along with them surprisingly well,
,,You have your own elephant?!” “Yes, even more than one but I stopped counting after the tenth one, I think.” “YOU HAVE MORE THAN TEN ELEPHANTS??? I want to pat them”
Tumblr media
💜 absolutely loves that soft, delicate side of yours,
💜 with Vil you will surely turn into real princess who you should have been from the very beginning, he loves when you wear long, beautiful gowns,
💜 does your hair, make-up, imposes on you a quite complicated and time-consuming beauty routine which sometimes makes you frustrated. He adores when you wear long, beautiful gowns and often makes you try some of them in one day. Once you spent six hours just trying on various dresses,
💜 you are like a perfect fit for Pomefiore and you will spend there more time than in your own dorm.
💜 Vil makes you to polish and turn you into perfect princess. Etiquette lessons, teaching you ballroom dances is just one of the things he is willing to do for you,
💜 when you saw Rook beaming with happiness returning to Pomefiore with dead rabbits….to say you were stunned would be an understatement,
💜  it was the first time Vil had seen you being so, hmmm, spiteful, which wasn’t suitable for lady, in his opinion,
💜 you and Rook had a conversation which lasted for about half of the day, discussing his hunting and at the end of it you decided to make a symbolic funeral for rabbits,
💜 you avoid Rook a lot and he shamelessly follows you into the woods, cause you’re a perfect bait for animals since they are drawn to you,
,,I’m not some human bait for those poor rabbits!”
Tumblr media
🖤 are you a character who walked out straight from anime into his life? Cause he certainly views you as one,
🖤 you’re such a perfect human being, aren’t you? Always kind and compassionate to everyone, with a bright smile sdorning your beautiful face, loved by animals and gifted with amazing singing voice. You are truly impeccable,
🖤 when students saw you walking with Idia holding hands in the broad daylight, let’s just say, you both were at the tongues of literally everyone. Your efforts were commendable,
🖤 you’re such a nice contrasting couple. Who would have thought that antisocial, glum dorm leader of Ignihyde would fall for such cheerful, bright spirit as you?
🖤 likes seeing you surrounded by animals or hearing birds harmonising with your singing, you look so happy that he cannot help but smile too,
🖤 it’s not like you overcame his antisocial barriers and turned him into soft man. No. Yet, you gradually began making his world slightly more colorful and brighter just with your presence alone,

Chapter 5
So this is going to be my attempt to summarize part 1 of the beginning part of chapter 5 (episode 1 to 21) of twisted wonderland.
Again, spoiler alert since I’m about to write out everything that happened, and I apologize for my grammar and horrible French in advance.
You heard someone singing -> it was the scenes from snow white when the evil queen asks the mirror on the wall and snow white singing into the well  -> player choice: a beautiful women was watching from the window…/ I felt like I’ve meet that beautiful person before… -> you woke up from dream -> in the main street, you meet up with Ace and Deuce -> after seeing the statue you realized you’ve seen them in your dreams before
In classroom -> Ace felt it wasn’t weird to have dreams like that when you see those statues everyday -> you mentioned about in your dream “mickey” appeared in the mirror -> Ace and Deuce never heard of that name before -> Ace suggest to take a photo of it with the “ghost camera” you got from Crowley since it can even take pictures of ghosts
Crewel showed up and explained about “nationwide sorcerer training school culture festival” -> it’s a 2 day event with representative students from all the sorcerer training school, a festival with speeches and debates all about magic related music & art topics -> for NRC, all the 4th year students will be send all across country for internship and research study -> they will all come back on that day to share their experience and result -> end of the homeroom -> fight Crewel for the defense magic class
Tumblr media
In the dorm leader meeting -> Malleus is not there again -> Lilia mentions how he couldn’t find Malleus anymore after class so he’s here instead -> Idia questions if Malleus is missing meetings on purpose -> Lilia talked about how fairies feels time different from humans, and how Malleus have some troublesome karma on him as well
The meeting starts -> Riddle started reporting everything about the event -> but the “vocal & dance championship” has surprising amount of media focused on it -> Riddle was surprised since he thought it was just a chorus competition -> because of the time change and consideration for different types of music, now it includes singing, dancing, and performance -> and because of how popular it got, it becomes one chance for students to professionally debut -> and now it’s getting extra notice because the famous influencer Vil and Neige are in it -> Lilia commented how Neige is getting really popular online and on TV -> Idia surprised that people in Diasomnia actually go online -> Lilia “kuhuhu, of course, we are still just students in high school, we watch dramas and play games.” -> Crowley “Vila and Neige, 2 world known famous celebrity are going to appear in VDC, it won’t be an exaggeration to call it the highest degree of attention we are going to get in this event.” -> Crowley ask Riddle to make preparation in case of troubles -> Azul offered to help since he learned all about it from magic shift event -> Leona “hey octopus bastard… do you want your flappy tongue to turn into dried food or what?” -> Azul “oh my how scary” -> Riddle refused Azul’s help since he don’t want Azul ask for something later -> Kalim “just tell us if something is bothering you, we’ll help you anytime.”
-> Kalim “I can’t wait for the day of festival~!” ->  Idia “sign~~~… the popular guys just looks so happy everyday. I had to think about the day to announce our research result… if I just step on stage, everyone would be like ‘hey isn’t his hair burning?’ ‘could he be Shroud family’s…’ ‘what kind of dark research is he doing?’ aah I can’t… for person like me to do a speech on stage is just challenge level EX.” -> Riddle mentioned how the rules said student have to go on stage themselves and offer to train Idia for speech after school -> Idia said he’ll manage something himself (whispering) “I really don’t wanna have a farming event with demonic trainer Riddle.” -> end of meeting
Tumblr media
In Vil’s room -> Vil “Mira, Mira” -> Mira “what can I help you with?” -> Vil “who is the fairest of them all right now?” -> Mira “the account with the most mention of fair in web currently is… Neige.” -> Vil “Neige…! Finally… this time have arrived.” -> Mira “sorry, I couldn’t quite hear you. Could you please repeat what you said?”
Tumblr media
Few days later in cafeteria -> Ace, Deuce, Grim, and you saw the poster for the VDC audition -> the reward for wining the championship is 5 million Madollar to spilt among the members -> Crowley popped up and explained many corporation sponsored this event -> Grim wanted to join for the money so he can buy tuna cans
The song for audition is “piece of my world” -> Ace wanted to try so if he got accepted he don’t need to help set up the places anymore -> Deuce wanted the reward money to help his family -> but he never did singing or dancing before so he didn’t want to join ->
In courtyard you heard someone singing beautifully -> you saw Epel ->Deuce remembered the time he bumped into Epel last chapter -> He asked Epel why is he practice singing here -> it was because Vil told Epel to practice singing to the well so Epel can hear his voice clearly -> Deuce “does Pomefiore have some rules where you have to be good at singing?” -> it was because Epel has to take the audition for VDC and practice for a more lovely voice -> Epel (whisper) “event like that should just disappear…” -> “oh my Epel, are you skipping practice and talking with pigeons now?” -> it was Vil -> Grim “that guy’s leg looks like it’s 1 meter longer than MC’s!” -> Vil “there’s only 2 month left till VDC, Epel have no times play with muddy potatoes like you people.” -> “Epel, you too, if this keep going on you won’t be able to become the ‘red poisoned apple’ let’s go.” -> Epel “…But I actully don’t!” -> Vil “did you forgot the promise with me? Just come here already.” -> Ace and Grim was pretty mad and wanted to fight -> Vil “It’s not bad for a walk after meal. Come at me, I’ll make you into mashed potato.” -> fight time -> you are beat up by Vil -> and he only gives you 5/100 for the fight since you lacked the beauty when fighting -> Epel has to go back with Vil and Vil mentioned how it ends up like this because Epel skipped practice in break
The next day -> Deuce decided to try the audition -> so if they are accepted, Epel might got eliminated and don’t need to practice anymore -> Deuce “as a honor student, I can’t just watch him being forced into the things he don’t like.” -> Ace “I don’t think it’s very honor student of you to call yourself honor student.” -> dance practice time
Tumblr media
Kalim and Jamil showed up practice for audition too -> Kalim “honestly you guys are pretty bad at this, you look like a panicked elephant trying to stand on 2 legs! Ahhaha!” -> Deuce “man this really hurts when he’s not even try to be mean.” -> Ace asked Jamil to teach them how to dance -> Kalim “oh sure! Jamil is really good at singing.” -> Jamil “why are you replying for me! … well it is also review for me when I’m teaching someone, fine I’ll do it.” -> teaching time -> Kalim “hey, how about we practice together tomorrow too? Jamil is really good at singing, we’ll show you.” -> Jamil “! You just decided that yourself too…!” -> Kalim “it’ll be fine, besides isn’t it more fun when you have more people for dancing, singing, or partying?” -> Jamil “fine, just don’t expect me to be so kind.” -> Jamil “for now, let’s just clean up, take some mops from the storage room -> Deuce, Ace, Kalim “okay.” -> Jamil “Kalim, you don’t have to do it… sigh.”
Azul showed up -> Grim mentioned how Jamil’s evil plan was streamed worldwide last chapter.” -> Azul “why do you think the merciful me would end my classmate societal life like that?” -> Jamil “…you would.” -> that day Azul was just on phone with Jade -> Azul “different from Leona, I don’t have an interest to beat down someone more than necessary, besides it’s a secret that I’ve finally got, I won’t do anything to make the price fall like that.” -> Jamil “hate to say it, but thanks to Azul’s mercifulness, my parents and Asim family didn’t know the real reason I overblot. But the dorm students…”
Flashback -> Scarabia students questioned why Kalim don’t change the vice dorm leader after what happened
Tumblr media
-> Kalim “are you guys worried about me? Thank you! But… he was not the only one wrong this time, I’m also at fault. Besides, is there anyone in Scarabia that have not received help from Jamil?” -> student “that, that is true… if there’s something going wrong we would always just ask him…” -> Kalim “I know right? He is an excellent vice dorm leader. A lot better than me, the dorm leader. His judgements might be clouded back then, but he is still great at his work. He did try to expel me by manipulating you guys but… up till that incident, he has never hurt me even once before. He has many chances to do other much more horrible things to me, but he didn’t. Not once, in 17 years. I won’t call him a good guy but… it’s hard to explain but would you please give us more times?” -> students “…if that’s what you said so…” -> Jamil “…”  -> end of flashback -> Jamil “the chance I had for holiday was once in a lifetime, thought my life would be over if I failed, but in the end it didn’t change that much… surely something to be ‘grateful’ for. So unless I’m fired by Kalim, I’ll continue to serve him. And I’ll continue to show everyone how useful I am.” -> Grim “Jamil… your character really changed a lot after the holiday.” -> Azul “if you are fired by Kalim, Octavinelle will always welcome people like you with open arms.” -> Jamil “thank you for the offer, but no matter what happened I would never go to Octavinelle.” -> Kalim “Hey you guys~ if we don’t head out soon we are gonna be late for class!”
3 days later -> everyone is getting better at dancing and singing -> Jamil reminded them to sign up for audition with Rook in class 3-A -> Grim saw Leona and called out to him -> Leona: angry lion noises -> Grim asked where is Rook Hunt -> Leona “why are you trying to find that weird guy.” -> Rook suddenly popped up from behind -> Rook “hahaha, did I surprised you? Pardon. Conceal my footstep sound was a habit I had. I am Rook Hunt. The hunter of love that set his life theme as looking for beauty, helping beauty.” -> Leona “tsk, there it is, that weird guy.” -> Rook asked where is monsieur dandelion -> Leona “no way we are together 24/7, just take those herbivores and go.” -> Deuce questioned who is monsieur dandelion -> it was Ruggie -> the reason why Rook calls him that is because last spring, Rook saw Ruggie picking dandelion in the sports field. Ruggie plans to eat those since his budget is a little tight this month -> so Rook calls him monsieur dandelion out of respect -> Leona “that guy… is he really fine with eating everything that’s not rotten? He didn’t make me eat dandelions too, right…?” -> Rook “non non, it’s not poison, it’s not good to be picky like that lord lion.” -> Ace brought up the audition for VDC, we almost forgot about that because of what happened -> Rook “I apologize, so you guys are, human species Ace Trappola, height 172cm, from class 1-A with student number 25. Human species Deuce Spade, height 173cm, from the same class 1-A with student number 24. And human species MC with demon beast species Grim, height 70cm. right?”
Tumblr media
-> Deuce “how did you know our class and student number!?” -> Ace “and even height too!?” -> Rook “huhuhu. As a hunter, I have to at least know the species and heights about the students.” -> there’s no need to write anything to sign up, you only need to show up to the audition 3 days later in Pomefiore’s ballroom -> Rook ask why don’t Leona try for the auditions too -> Leona “who would go to a game event like that, besides, that annoying Vil is also there. I would never go.” -> Rook “the Vil with the beauty of metropolis, and Leona kun with the beauty of wilderness. If both of you dances and sings together it would definitely be beautiful. The competition between different types of beauty, it’s just tres bien!” -> Leona “this guy really doesn’t listen to other people at all…”
3 days later -> in Pomrfiore dorm lounge, you saw around 50 students who’s also trying for audition -> Cater was also one of it -> since he wanted to go to the event with the famous celebrity Vil -> Ace “isn’t that reason a little too light hearted?” -> Cater “really? I thought everyone is like that, I mean look.”
Tumblr media
-> pointed at Ruggie who’s clearly here for money -> Lilia popped up again -> you recognized him as the person who handed you the holiday card -> Grim “he wasn’t the sender?” -> Lilia “the initials are different from mine right?” -> Lilia is here since he’s in light music club and it just makes sense for him to try -> he tried to invite Malleus too but he said he don’t want it to become the exhibition of some kind so he refused -> Lilia “that guy is kind of shy” -> Cater “I feels like that’s a little bit different from shy…” -> Lilia asked why didn’t Cater brought Trey along -> Cater tried but Trey has to help Riddle with all the works
they saw Ortho by himself for audition too and was surprised -> Ace commented on how Ortho looks like an elementary school student -> Cater said Ortho is accepted into this school with Idia, and they always take classes together -> Grim “how much of a brothercon is Idia…” ->Ortho “don’t talk bad on my brother!” -> Ortho explained how everything was approved by the principals, and is not like Idia brought him just because he’s lonely by himself -> Cater “sorry sorry, we kinda got to excited while talking about it since the Shroud brother is like the 7 mysteries of this school.” -> Ortho “I want to apologize for getting too upset as well, I just don’t want you to misunderstand my brother…” -> Cater asked if Ortho is also here for audition -> flashback -> basically Idia made a software with his voice to read out everything he typed -> for the speech since he just can’t talk in front of everyone -> but Idia also got pretty interested in the sound editing world -> Idia “since virtual idol is getting popular, should I put vocal synthesizer in Ortho too?” -> Ortho “sounds fun! I wanted to sing too.” ->Idia “alright~ let big brother handle everything.” -> so to test how far the vocal synthesizer can go, Ortho is here to take the audition -> Ace was surprised that they can just make singing sounds from programs -> Cater said those got quite popular and he likes it too, and wanted to show Grim a video of it -> there was an ad
Tumblr media
Neige is promoting in the ad -> Cater mentioned how popular he is getting -> Vil, Rook, and Epel kicked in with sparkling effects -> Vil started introducing himself and explains how he will be the producer for the members appears in VDC
Auditions starts -> Ruggie sung and danced
Tumblr media
-> Rook “monsieur dandelion. Such a light step and bright smile. With manliness and loveliness combined perfectly. Beaute! 100 points!” -> Vil “his way of moving isn’t bad, but his dancing and singing is still messy… next!”
Cater -> Rook “monsieur magcam. Your voice sounds just like the elegant sparkling diamond! I wanted to listen to it forever. Beaute! 100 points!” -> Vil “singing and dancing wasn’t bad, but I can’t feel any passions… next!”
Lilia -> Rook “monsieur curiosity. Such a lovely form and singing voice with an alluring aura… Beaute! 100 points!” -> Vil “I don’t know why… but I can’t feel any freshness of a high school student from Lilia. Next!”
Ortho -> Rook “monsieur doll. What a brand-new style…! Your robot dance and singing voice, will be sculpted into my eyes. Beaute! 100 points!” -> Vil “no matter how genre-less this event is, there’s a limit… next!”
Kalim -> Rook “lord gold! Your dance were just like the breeze that blow through the hot sand! And the singing that make me felt like flying. Beaute! 100 points!” -> Vil “hmm, it’s a little bit better than the vegetables that’s just rolling around.”
Jamil -> Rook “monsieur mulch. As expected… I can feel your buring soul underneath your cool mask! Beaute! 100 points!” -> Vil “not bad, he’s the most normal one out of all of them.”
Epel -> Rook “monsieur crabapple. So lovely! Beaute! 100 points!” -> Vil “that kid, misstep again, no matter how good was his rehearse, it would be meaningless if he can’t do good in the real deal. Also, Rook. aren’t you giving out nothing but 100 points? Are you judging seriously?” -> Rook “of course, but it’s so hard to pick a first when everyone are so wonderful. There’s beauty in the neatness, and there’s also beauty in the twisted. Don’t you think so?” -> last group -> Ace, Deuce, and Grim -> Rook “…I see I see.” -> end of the audition -> result will come out tomorrow -> Rook recommend the trio to Vil
Next day, Ace, Deuce, Grim just got off from class -> suddenly an arrow flies across barely missed Deuce’s nose -> Ace realized there’s a piece of paper on the arrow -> Deuce “what!? Is it a challenge to fight!?” -> Ace “stop connect everything to a fight, let me see…” -> both Ace and Deuce are accepted -> you are also asked to go with those two
You all headed towards Pomefiore -> you saw both Kalim and Jamil -> they are accepted as well -> but after going in Pomefiore, students keep showing up asking for fight -> finally you arrived to the ballroom
-> Vil showed up with sparkling effects again -> apparently the students are fighting with you because you are accepted members, it was a warm up Vil prepared for all of you so he can start the lesson right away -> Vil “listen up, start from now on we would be the representation for NRC, and aim for the first place in the VDC. The members that can’t even win a fight like that is not needed. The battle has already started and all of you should be prepared to be whipped to shape!” -> Kalim “I don’t really understand but okay!” -> Grim asks why are him and you here when you are not accepted -> Crowley showed up and explained, in order to practice for the team work, all of the members will live together in Ramshakle dorm -> Grim wanted to refuse -> but Vil and Rook said they will give you all of their reward money since their goal in this event is not money -> which is around 1.42 million -> you decided to accept the deal after all ->Vil “now let’s start the lesson!” -> Ace “I thought the lesson starts when we starts living together?” -> Vil “don’t get a big head, new potato number 1. You are still an amateur at singing and dancing, we can’t waste a single minute.” -> practice time.
 End of this update.
Oh man it tooks me a whole entire day to do this… and to think this is just like part a of part1. The chapters are getting so much longer…
I Honestly felt like I missed up half of Rook’s nicknames since I don’t know French at all, basically got everything from google so please correct me if I’m wrong.
Also, Rook’s nickname for Epel is kinda weird, he call Epel hime ringo which directly translate to princess apple, but it is also a type of apple. In English it’s called crabapple, which kind of feels different then the Japanese text.
Can I just say I love the fact that we can fight Crewel now? And I just love how he call us zasshu while fighting, it probably referenced to like mixed blood dogs and all but it only reminds me of Gilgamesh lol.
Ahhh I really want Crewel to slap me.

unexpected guest.
Summary: Levi gets an unexpected guest on the anniversary of Erwin’s death. Inspired by the narrative in Beyond the Walls when Mikasa mentions accompanying Levi on these anniversaries. Pre-Marley Arc (no manga spoilers).
He had roughly tossed on a clean linen shirt at the sound of her knocking, and only finds time now to do up the buttons. Practiced enough with muscle memory, Levi starts at the bottom and works his way up while watching and waiting for her response.
“You’re right,” she agrees, blinking tiredly. The bag slips further down her shoulder and she lazily hikes it back up, eyes flitting to where his hands meet in the center of his exposed chest for a brief second only. “I wanted to get here before Commander Hange did.”
Levi’s deft fingers stall and stumble on a button, then promptly move on. Though it’s the only outward sign of his discomfort, minor and nearly motionless, her lavender-dusted eyes latch onto his scarred hands with open interest.
He almost narrows his eyes at her; she’s always been so quick to find his faults.
She looks like shit. Shades of indigo beneath her violet-edged eyelids, dark lashes fluttering weakly in every owlish blink. Her hair is brushed, at least, but sloppily pinned back behind both ears. Looking closely, he can tell she must have cut it herself, the jagged ends uneven against her prominent collarbones. Too prominent— she’s lost weight.
“What’re you doing here?” Levi asks, his voice gravelly from disuse. It’s barely past dawn and he isn’t expecting visitors until the afternoon.
Mikasa isn’t bothered by the lack of warm welcome. She simply starts walking forward, the trajectory of her steps anticipating that he’ll open the door wide enough for her to move through. For that reason alone, he does it.
Or so he tells himself.
Once she’s standing in his front room, observing its clean and tidy but otherwise emptied contents, he tries again.
“Ackerman.”
She turns back to him, where he stands at the threshold with the door still open, as if it is him who doesn’t belong there. There’s a pack slung over her shoulder, the weight of it further dragging down her oversized sweater. Only weak, natural light filters through the room, and Levi studies the shadows that cling to her, accentuating the hollow of her neck, the dip between her clavicles.
“You’re supposed to offer tea, ask me how I am,” Mikasa tells him, more absently than rudely. “Not disparage me for being here.”
“You’ve already had tea this morning,” he says, knowing that she takes two cups of black tea with half a teaspoon of honey in each before she fully opens her lids, let alone speaks to anyone or considers leaving her apartment.
Then, Levi closes the door, his hand still on the knob behind him as he appraises her. “And I know how you’re doing.”
Her frown is slight. “So, we’re skipping pleasantries.”
That actually provokes him to laugh, dark and devoid of humor. “Don’t think you came here for pleasantries.”
Wondering if she’s waiting for his next slip-up, Levi is determined not to make one. Once he’s finished, he fluffs out and then straightens down his collar.
“Why’s that?” The steel-edge in his tone sounds lacking even to his own ears.
Mikasa dips her chin toward her bag, gesturing to it. “Wanted to give this to you first.”
He takes a wary step toward her, tucking one hand into his front pocket. “What is it?”
She hesitates, her grip on the strap tightening. “I asked Armin if I could borrow it. He said you should keep it, though. Since he—...”
Mikasa inhales sharply, unable to finish aloud.
Since he only has a year left to live, anyway, Levi knows. He nearly flinches, from either the thought he’s finished in his own mind or the way her lips tremble, he isn’t sure. What little bit of lively color brushed Mikasa’s cheeks abruptly drains from her face now.
Levi is still not certain how she has survived— is surviving— Eren’s loss. Only the shadow of her former self stands before him, and not for the first time, he wonders if she will disappear entirely into the twilight after she loses Armin, too.
He closes the distance between them, removing his hand from his pocket.
“What is it,” Levi asks again, quieter this time.
Mikasa shrugs off the bag and offers it to him, silent. Levi takes it, unsurprised that it’s heavier than she made it look, but he keeps his gaze locked onto her.
Levi tells himself his pause is for her benefit, but the truth is, it might be for his own. If she knows about his plans with Hange this afternoon, then she knows what day it is, too. Not just a typical Thursday.
She takes a measured breath. “Erwin’s vintage chess set. Apparently, he told Commander Hange he wanted Armin to have it.”
Levi nods, buying himself time. Then, he turns with the bag and walks toward the dining table, setting it down carefully.
“I remember,” he says. “Told Hange that it was to be passed down, Commander to Commander, unless the Scouts were disbanded. Either way, he thought it would— should end up with Arlert.”
Mikasa joins him at his right side. “That’s why they gave it to him after the decree.”
Levi doesn’t answer. The end of the war against the titans unceremoniously led to the termination of their military branch. The decree may have made it official, a flourish of ink penned neatly on clean, ivory parchment, but the reality was stained into his soul. Blood smeared across his forehead, limbs torn, skulls smashed, human and horse innards defiling the grassy plains of Shiganshina. Losing them, losing Erwin, had been the real beginning to their end.
“Well, in any case,” Mikasa says, straightening out her spine.
Her nervousness, identifiable only through squared shoulders and her too settled tone, distracts him from the blood-soaked memories.
She gestures at the gift. “Thought you both might want to- to honor him by playing a match together.”
Something of a strange sentiment. Levi can’t say he would have thought of it himself. But even stranger is that the woman starving herself from her own grief has managed to put effort into easing his own. She’s always been too helplessly selfless, he thinks, though that largely depended on who was worth the sacrifice. Levi doesn’t allow that line of thought to linger.
“Hange hates chess,” he finally says, blunt as an old, useless knife.
Noting Mikasa’s surprise, her head tilting slightly toward him, Levi continues. “Too impatient. Can’t sit still, can’t stay focused. Too distracted by other ideas and subjects.”
Mikasa hums, quietly and briefly. “Right. Sounds like them.”
She frowns at the wooden chest, and Levi watches her from the corner of his eye. Her cold, calm features are no longer difficult for him to read. She’s either trying to find the right words, or more likely, summon the strength to say them.
Feeling generous— she did bring him a gift first, after all— he doesn’t let her ruminate further on the failed attempt.
“Thank you,” Levi says, blithe but sincere, as he places a hand atop the set. “I’m surprised you remembered.”
“Of course I remember,” Mikasa says, these words easier, and she sharply looks over to him. “It’s the only reason you’ve come back, isn’t it?”
He sees it through her mind; his growing-in-frequency departures to the outerlands and coastline, compared to his shorter stays in Mitras, only for Hange, only for the orphanages, only for the anniversaries of their dead. Not for afternoon tea on the balcony of her suite, or the extra pair of silverware he polishes for her seat at his dining table, and most of all, not for the barren, barely used house he keeps in Mitras, meant only for moments like this morning, when she stands inside and it hosts everything he needs.
Levi just shakes his head. “One of them.”
With the same focus he used to finish his buttons and fix his collar, he opens the heavy wooden chest that protects the vintage set. In it are the familiar pieces from days past, stone-cut characters in sleek ivory and ebony beside a checkered marble board. The same set that Erwin used to teach him, and the same set he once used to teach her.
Levi grips the edge of the chest. “You staying, brat?”
Mikasa stares at the chess pieces for half a moment, a golden glow over the crown of her head, and then starts to kick off her shoes.
“You remember last time,” she says more than asks, half a smile playing at her lips.
Of course he does. If he hadn’t, her prideful taunt would have reminded him well enough. Their last game against each other ended with her markedly fast checkmate that actually caught him unaware.
“Tch.” Levi begins to take out the pieces, shaking his head subtly, while she sets her boots down in the room’s corner. “You’re always too arrogant, Ackerman. Doesn’t suit you.”
“Yes it does,” she counters evenly, but then the rest of her small, satisfied smile unveils itself as she rejoins him. “Unfortunately, I learned from the best.”
Inadvertent it may be, but he thinks it’s the first time she’s verbally acknowledged their intensive training and... untraditional dynamics during the last stretch of the war.
“Yeah,” he agrees. “That is unfortunate.”
Mikasa reaches for an ebony rook, he reaches for the ivory knight, and their hands brush in the passing; a sliver of a second that he knows can’t be why her smile lingers, but is the reason he tells her to make herself more useful and set a kettle to boil.
She levels him with a prim glare, but wordlessly sets off toward his kitchen. Levi finishes preparing the pieces on the board, watching dawn’s golden hues reflect off the ivory queen. The crown glimmers, almost winking at him, and Levi tries not to think of her.
One day, she won’t be a waning, dark shadow, but wholly herself. The warmth and strength of the sun's infallible light.

Author’s Note: Yeah, so, fun fact, I cannot get myself to finish writing the last 5k words until I flesh out more of their history. Before I ever wrote the first chap, I did tons of this, but apparently not enough. It’s all too scattered to be a prologue, so various pieces will be posted here on tumblr, or maybe tethered.
(For those who may be familiar with my other works. Levi teaching her chess is a direct reference to Out in Search. :) Those scenes, excluding the romantic developments, are also part of what I had written as the back-drop to Beyond the Walls.)

¤~°Ghost Marriage: Lovely Bride To Be?!°~¤ Finale!
Previously...
Before the door closed, (Y/N) asks them something. "Can I please have something to eat? I haven't ate in a few hours."
Present Time.
It was now close to night after all the arguing of students had disbursed. Finally all agreed with Crowley and his raffle idea on who the grooms should be.
Once all of the participants names were in the Headmasters hat. He shakes his hat around a few times and stops. Carefully pulling out a name a few names. Crowley coughs and clears his throat. The crow announced the lucky four grooms for operation "Lovely Bride To Never Be".
"Rook Hunt, Epel Felmier, Riddle Rosehearts and Ace Trappola!" Headmaster Crowley yells over the quiet teens. Gasps and groans filled Sam's shop. Yet no know decided to go against their headmasters choice. Grim doesn't even bother to question why the crow had choose them.
The four grooms step in front of their peers as Crowley starts talk with Sam. Not seeing the jealous eyes directed at his winners. To which they gave calm or smug expression. (*Cough* Epel and Ace, *Cough*.)
So the headmaster buys the items they needed for the operation. Not knowing that nightfall was closing in. "Considering that the time we have left until the wedding, this is our last chance. If this plan fails.. (Y/N) will lose her life!"
The four chosen teens gulp at the thought. The kind hearted prefect will die they do not succeed. They will not let that happen! "Since the ghost groom is in a suite. You shall also wear formal attire, or act like a prince, if you don't you will be not seen as a challenger."
Crowley gives the four grooms the things they needed. All the while Ortho had hacked into the security cameras to show to his peers. Standing outside, the students that weren't excepted all crowed around to see the footage. Once the boys are done changing. Stuck in formal wear, handsome as ever.
Their peers, friends, gave compliments and snide remarks. Cater takes a couple of photos and posts it on his Magicam. Tagging it, #Ghost groom, #Saving (Y/N) from Ghost groom and #Tuxedos! "The wedding ceremony is approaching now, the servant ghosts must be on high alert. Please be ready when the time comes!"
The four grooms nod. "No problem. I'll prove I'm the most suitable person to become the groom!" Riddle said with determination in his eyes and voice. "Oui, me as well."
"I'll reach out to her with words of love if my sincerity gets to her, then she will understand my feelings." Rook remarks with spark in his green eyes too. Epel joins in too with his seniors. "I'll save and catch her heart!" Ace agrees along with them, "yeah! Let's succeed in this plan in a instant!"
_____________________________________________
It was now night time and the three grooms had arrived to the gates of NRC. "Epel is late, it's already time to go..." Riddle said with uncertainty in his tone. "Did he get cold feet or something?" Ace asked to the two seniors.
"Non, non. Monsieur Crabapple would never wimp out, especially if it's for Madamonsieur (Y/N) of all people." Rook smiles without a care. "He'll be here soon..." "GUYS!!" It seems the fourth groom has arrived. "What took you so long.. Long."
Ace snark words die in his mouth before they could even come out. Grim, (who had decided to come with the grooms,) eyes widen at how fast Epel was coming towards them. The loud gallops of a horse draw near and nearer. "Sorry about the wait!" Epel says as he looks down at Ace and his seniors.
"It took me longer than I thought to get ready." His steed neighs after his words. Ace looks at Epel with astonishment and confusion. "Why are you on a horse exactly!!?!" Epel returns Ace confusion, "eh, why, because... Isn't prince charming supposed to make his entrance riding a horse. Right?"
"Do prince's even still do that!?" Ace turns to his seniors, "dorm head, Rook, you agree right!?" Rook was strangely quiet as he addressed his dormmate. "Epel... Your initiative, critical thinking, determination and preparation are astounding and very très bein!!" Rook applauded at Epel's effort.
Riddle could agree with his fellow senior. "You're even riding the most ornery horse in the equestrian club." The redhead pointed out with pride. "They're listening to you very well, you'be got a Mack for handling horses." Epel bashfully smiles at their praise, thmaking the two.
Ace interrupts the three by asking how they were gonna get inside. The Heartslabyul dorm leader tells him to quit his whining as Rook tells them that the wedding was starting in three hours. "How did I end up in the wrong?!" Ace asked, mostly to himself. "Ok.. Let's go! OPEN UP!" Epel yells.
One of the guard ghosts had heard the racket and sees the four, plus the horse and Grim. "Good evening, we've come here to win the beautiful brides hand in marriage." Rook said to the ghost. "Suitors and challengers, huh.. His highness will not be pleased to know of this, and so close to the wedding as well... I shall not let you through! Take your leave!"
Epel smirks, "are you sure? You're going to regret turning us away." The lavender haired boy chides. "What? You seem very confident." The gaurd sighs at the persistent suitors. "... Fine, I'll be the judge."
"Pretend I'm his highness bride and show me how you plan to propose! I will let you through the gate if you prove your feelings are ture." The ghosts remarks, waiting for one of the suitors to propose. "Guess we gotta do what he says if we wanna get through the door." Ace said with clear unpleasantness.
"... *Ahem!* Please allow me to go first!" Epel said with a hint of timidness in him. "Go ahead, show me your heartfelt proposal!" The ghost replys back. Epel starts to speak. "I will... Make her the happiest bride ever."
"Because whenever the person I love is in trouble. I'll come to their rescue, like a knight in shinging armor! Whatever happens along the way, I'll get (Y/N) through it all- er! I mean YOU through it all. Just like you had done for me! I will be the one to protect you from all harm."
"So, I am asking for your hand! I implore you. Please marry me!" Epel said with such emotion. Not knowing of the cameras that had captured all of it. Nor would any of the others know when it came to their time to propose.
The guard ghosts eyes widen, "your expression is totally serious... And you're even on a white horse! Like a true prince!!" Ace sighs, "the horse.. So I really was wrong?" The ghosts asked if Ace was a servant to Epel, Ace said no.
"Oh, so you're a suitor? Very well. Let's see how you'd propose." Ace gave a cheeky grin as he starts. "If you marry me, there's no doubt in everyday will be filled with fun."
Ace words grow softer as he continues, his eyes turn a bit nostalgic. "There might be times we argue or fight but... I'll always be the one to apologize. I'll be by your side through thick and thin and always work to make you smile."
"That makes me the best for the princess. So... Don't lay your eyes on anyone else, please marry me!" The ghost nods after Ace had finished. "Your desire to make your partner happy is bright as day! You're the real deal." The ghost then apologized to Ace for mistaken him as a servant.
"That was a decent proposal." Riddle said with a coy smile with amusement. "Hey, could you knock it off with that reaction? I'm just saying my lines!" Riddle's face doesn't change in the slightest.
"You say that but I'm sure that you put real thought into it." Grim goes along with Riddles teasing. "Nyahaha, Ace is trying to act all cool, y'know." The furrbal laughs at Ace, "shut up!" Riddle's teasing look turns into a confident one, "it was just like you Ace, but unfortunately, the princess is going to choose me!"
The soldier ghost points at Riddle. "Alright, you're up next. Show me your moves!" Riddle complied as he began his proposal. "I vow to be honest and sincere!"
"I promise to never hurt the person I love. If it's for my princess, I'll put everything on the line. I humbly request... Won't you choose me as your groom?" The ghost was speechless, uttering a "oh's" and "oh my".
"You seem so reliable and gallant... Even my heart is all a flutter." The ghost said in awe at the red headed groom. "Yeah it was so cool, Senior Roseheart..!" Ace agrees with his tuxedo buddy, "dorm leader got game too, huh?"
Riddle goes very quiet after his turn. "... Th-*ahem* that is enough out of all you all." The Roseheart male turns his head away so none of the group could see his pink cheeks. "The three of you were marvelous. It's my turn next." Rook spoke up as ghost gave him a look.
"The bar's been raised pretty high. A half-hearted proposal isn't going to cut it all!" The ghost declared to Rook, who just smiled and nodded. "You are truly beautiful, please allow me serve you for evermore. May I present a poem of all my feelings for you who has been watched under my eyes for months..."
"I wish to bring warmth to your cheeks, my dear. Long have your eyes only shed lonely tears. Oh, can they even see the happiness you bring to me and others around you. Vibrant is the live blooming in our rendezvous. Ever so gently, let me take your face to rest upon my hands. Under my care, may your lovely (e/c) eyes gaze ever sparkle with hope and romance."
"Woah.." The two first years said in sync, with awe and disgust. Riddle reviewed Rooks oddly embarrassing poem in his head. "Hold on! Read his poem vertically!"
Riddle explained that Rooks poem spelled. I LOVE U.
Rook congratulates Riddle on figuring it out. The ghost was surprised at the last suitor. Telling them they were very interesting challengers for his prince. The a pair of unfamiliar eyes watched them up above. Elias called his guards to go outside to the gates.
"The bride must have her friends here as well!"
_____________________________________________
(Y/N) tries her best to keep calm as she stuffed her face with cake. Taking off one of her gloves, she used it to smear off some of the crumbs off her cheek as a napkin. She puts her glove back on and stabs her fork in a glop of frosting. "*Ahem*!" A cough rings out in her "changing room.
The (h/c)-nette looks up from her food to see the ghost nanny. "My dear lady, it's time to go the wedding hall." Nanny ghost said happily. (Y/N) nods, bringing her herself to stand. Patting down her outfit to make sure crumbs weren't stuck to it.
The nanny ghost fixes her tiara and takes her arm into his. He smiles at her gently, like a grandfather giving his daughter her first pat on the head. The two walk out of the room in arm and arm. Heading to the cafeteria or the "alter". He then lets go of her before she walked down the aisle, flying off to one of the seats.
The "bride" walks over to the alter, but her "groom" was nowhere in sight. (Y/N) shifts in her place awkwardly as the ghosts chatter. She shifts around her bouquet and looks at the flowers. Stephanotis, Peony, Rose, and Lilly's. Her mind tires to remember the meanings, but her thoughts were interrupted when the ghost prince floats in.
The guest grow silent as music starts to play in the background. Elias smiled widely as his little ghost pals fly around him. "I'm so sorry my dear princess, I hadn't noticed the time." Elias said sadly as little tears well up in his eyes. (Y/N), feeling bad for him even though in her odd circumstances, told him it was all good.
"Oh! I forgot to mention, your friends are on their way here. You didn't tell me you were bringing your guests as well?" Elias tells her with innocent confusion. (Y/N) felt sweat drip off her back as guilt and happiness wash over her.
"They're comin-!" Her sentences wasn't even finished yet before her friends arrived. Riddle, Ace, Rook and Epel all wore nice suits while Grim was being held by a ghost soldier! Her friends were bound in ropes as they tried to get out of them. "Release us!"
Riddle demand with anger, "watch your tongue!" A soldier shouted at the hot-temperted red head. "Guys!" The "bride" yells in fear. The group looks at (Y/N) and are all stunned by her appearance.
She wore beautiful wedding attire, but the look on her face did not gleam like her outfit. "Why are they-!" "They were causing a ruckus, saying they were here to challenge me for your hand. But I decided not to hurt them, they are your friends after all. Think of it as a wedding present!"
The room goes quiet after the prince spoke. (Y/N) stares at her friends faces and her eyes slightly light up. She gives a sad smile and bows at them. Mouthing a few silent words to them. They stare at her with fear, but keep quiet.
"Now let's start!" The ghost groom announced as the priest ghosts starts to talk. "Do you, Prince Elias. Take this young woman as your wife and be with her for all eternity." "I do!"
The preist smiled at the boys eagerness. "And you my dear lady, do you take him as your husband for all eternity?" (Y/N) takes a glance at her bouquet of flowers and smiled softly. "I don't.." Gasps of shocks fill the air.
"Wha- but why?!" Elias cried out, as (Y/N) friend's cheered. The (h/c)-nette takes in a breath before releasing a sigh. "Prince Elias... You are a good soul, a sweet one. You put on a brave face for your subjects and friends so they could be happy."
"But you aren't, your just putting your ideals on me so you could finally find your happily ever after. Elias, you need to understand. I'm not your true love. You don't even know me, I don't even think you know why I am even here in Twisted Wonderland." (Y/N) says sadly, taking the princes hand in her's.
"I'm sorry about what you've been through. Though you need to see that you have to stop searching for someone who is your "ideal" cause I'm not a princess!" (Y/N) chuckles bitterly. "There is more to somebody than how they seem to be."
"I... I never meant... I just.." Elias tried to form words, though he couldn't. "I was never able to get a "happily ever after" when I was alive.. I wanted to find my princess and have a future with her. Yet that was stolen away from me, now I'm stealing you away from yours." Elias cried,  his blue eyes closing.
"I'm sorry... I deeply am." The ghost groom cries, wiping his tears away. "Even after five hundred years, nanny was right. I still act like a child." This time, the prince laughs with bitterness. "I think it's time to finally leave.."
(Y/N) nods as Grim got out of his captors restrains and throws a wedding ring to her. "Place it on his finger! He'll disappear for good!" Grim yells at her. (Y/N) catches it and gives Elias one last smile as she puts on the ring.
"Thank you..." The ghost groom whispers as he started to disappear along with the other ghosts. When he was finally gone, the only thing left was a wedding ring. (Y/N) crouched down and picks it up from the ground. Throwing it in a trash been soon after.
She goes over to her friends and undid their restraints. When she finished, the group of grooms give her a hug. (Y/N) hugs them back, placing a small kiss on each their cheeks in gratitude. "Thanks..!" She blushed and looks away from them and focused her attention on cleaning up, not seeing her suitors rivaling looks in their eyes.
The ghost groom had lost his chance for her heart. But who said her suitors will?
The End.
(Yay! This series has been one wild ride for me. But I did it! Thank you guys for the support! I told myself that I would finish this before the Twst halloween event. And I did, Thank you guys! Happy Spooky Month! 👻)

Summary:  The new business opportunity on Mandalore isn’t exactly panning out as planned.  Daia’s new employer doesn’t trust her at all.  Tempers flare and she makes a decision that will decide if she remains welcome, or faces the wrath of Maul and Death Watch.
Part 1  Part 2
The bright Mandalorian sunrise filtered through the windows of Daia’s room slowly beckoning her back to consciousness.  Blinking the sleep from her eyes as she sat up, she surveyed her surroundings to get recenter herself.  She was still in Sundari palace and the room still looked like a thermal detonator went off in it.  Standing up from the bed she let out a groan as all of her muscles protested the movement.  “Ah shit.  Okay so yesterday really did happen.”  She quickly dressed herself and worked on making herself look presentable.
A loud pounding on the door interrupted her morning routine.  The door then slid open revealing Savage surrounded by an air of impatience.  “Get up.  You’re expected at the morning briefings.”
“Just a moment, I’m almost done.”  She set about fetching her boots from the pile she’d left them in the previous night.  “You could have waited more than 5 seconds before opening the door, you know.  I could have been indecent.”  Savage snorted and rolled his eyes.  She finished pulling on her boots and placing her weapons in their usual homes, with her blaster prominently displayed.  There had been no indication as to what would be expected of her today besides to learn, so she might as well look like she belonged among the Mando’ade.  If Death Watch was anything like they used to be, they held more respect for those that armed themselves.  “Okay, ready.”
Savage led her down the long hallways of the palace at a quick pace.  His long strides forced Daia to slightly jog in order to keep up with him.  They walked the halls in silence for a few minutes before Daia finally broke the quiet. “It’s Savage, right?”
He momentarily flicked his eyes in her direction before answering.  “Yes.”  An answer is better than being ignored, I guess.
She took a deep breath before speaking again.  “Does Death Watch know about me?  I mean, they obviously know I exist but, do they know I used to be a Jedi?” Savage still would not look in her direction while speaking.  “They know what you told them.  Why does it matter?”  There’s the million credit question.
Her hands ran over her face a few times before she had a semblance of an answer for him.  “Things get...complicated when people find out.  Especially when they’re Mandalorian.”  Exactly one member of Death Watch had found out about her past before, and had immediately tried to kill Daia for it.  That woman was now a corpse in Concordia’s forests.  Mandalorian distrust of Force users runs deep.
Savage finally glanced at her but never broke his stride.  He didn’t seem to understand her dislike of revealing her past to most people.  “Death Watch remains unaware.  Hide what you are if you wish, Jedi.”
“Not a Jedi.”  Daia whispered to herself.  The two continued down the halls of the palace.  Her mind unfocused, Daia kept trying to find anything to keep her mind busy.  Patience and quiet were never her strong suits.  She settled on studying the man she was walking with.  He was huge, that much was obvious.  He carried himself with less grace than his brother but with the same confidence in his own power.  Wait, how did I not notice this yesterday? Her eyes focused on his left arm as she realized the entire thing was synthetic.  That was a detail she had failed to notice the previous day.  Whatever life the two Zabrak had led before coming to Mandalore, it had obviously been a violent one.  A sudden thought crossed her mind about the previous night’s…  What even was that? An attack?  A test?
She held her hand up to get his attention.  “Hey, Savage.  I want to apologize for last night.”
He fully looked at her after hearing her words.  “What?  Apologize for what?”  He didn’t understand what there was to apologize for.
“For the table.”  She gestured at her face and then at his.  “I know we were fighting but still.  Sorry about that.”
“Last night”  Savage’s voice took a slightly threatening edge,  “was not a fight.”
“You’re right.  Had it been a real fight,”  Daia stretched out her painfully sore arms.  “one of us wouldn’t be here this morning.”
Savage stopped walking to turn and study her for a moment.  Confusion and mild surprise painted his yellow and black features.  “I accept your apology.”  That’s it?  He’s just fine?
The two rounded the corner into the familiar hallway that led to the throne room.  The door slid open to the brightly lit throne room and it was already filled with people.  Savage entered first nodding to his brother as he guided Daia to stand far to the side of the throne.  Maul was at his rightful place in Mandalore’s throne, one leg thrown over the arm of his seat while he leaned on the other.  Daia made momentary eye contact with him as she walked past and smiled.  “Good morning.  Sleep well?”
Maul studied her face a moment but didn’t respond to her.  Instead he addressed the rest of the room while they took their seats.  “Many of you met Daia after her...entrance yesterday morning.  She will be joining us for these meetings for the time being.”  He turned to pin her in place with his gaze.  “Pay her presence no mind.”
Savage whispered to her before taking his place at Maul’s right hand. “Stay here and stay quiet.”  She was beginning to feel more and more like a captive than an employee.
The meeting began with a wave of Maul’s hand.  The first priorities of the day being domestic matters.  Almec droned on and on for what felt like hours.  While he kept talking, Daia took stock of who was in the room with her.  Several members of Death Watch lined the room, acting as a palace guard force.  Saxon and Kast stood near Maul with their helmets removed.  Kast had changed her hairstyle since the last time Daia had seen her but that was no surprise.  Saxon still looked like he had just eaten something sour.  Can he make any other expressions?  In the seats near Almec were two holographic figures.  A Falleen and a Pyke.  That was never a good combination to see.  He’s got Black Sun and the Pykes working for him?  Shit.  Daia was unaware of just how much power Maul wielded from this world but it was obviously substantial.  She took a quick glance over to the two brothers.  They seemed just as bored as she was but Maul seemed to mask it better than both her and Savage.
After about a week of speaking, Almec finally surrendered the floor to someone else.  Thank the Force, he’s done.  It was Rook Kast’s turn to speak.  “There are some new weapons we’ve been trying to get a hold of for weeks on Agamar.  The Separatist fleet is still an obstacle.”  Savage visibly perked up at the mention of weaponry but Maul only reacted with the slightest of expression change.  Had she not been a Force user, Daia most certainly would have missed it.  Maul had a greater amount of control over himself than his brother.
Maul shifted to lean forward in his seat.  “Are these weapons something we truly need?”  Mandalorians need weapons like they need air.  Of course she’s gonna say yes.
Saxon stepped forward to answer for Kast.  “My Lord Mand’alor, these weapons are more powerful than the ones we are currently equipped with and as our ranks increase, so too do our needs to arm them appropriately.”
Maul considered his soldier’s words for a moment before turning to the holograms before him.  “What about Black Sun or the Pykes?  Can your ships make it to the surface?”  Daia snorted softly and rolled her eyes.  The Pykes were drug lords.  They didn’t care if they got caught.  They’d just send more spice on a different ship.  Black Sun was no better.  They were brutes.  Sure, they could provide capable soldiers and bounty hunters but they lacked the finesse needed to sneak past military vessels.  He’s lucky he hired me.
The transparent Pyke spoke first.  “There’s no guarantee of success but we will send the ships, my Lord.”  They’ll just get caught.  The Falleen also responded.  “Our pilots will succeed when the Pykes fail.”  Like hell they will.
Daia couldn’t keep quiet any longer.  Maul was making a mistake by letting these two idiots try to get his shipments.  She stepped forward from her place by the wall and addressed Maul specifically.  “I can get those weapons for you.  I’ve slipped past Separatists plenty of times before.”
Maul fixed her with a glare that could burn a hole through a star.  “You will do no such thing.”  He was clearly angry at the sudden interruption.  Daia felt the Force flare out with his outburst.  To his side, Savage narrowed his eyes with a similar look of displeasure.
She knew she was right and continued to press the matter “But you…”  Maul quickly stood and threw her back to the wall and held her in place with the Force.  “No.  That is final.”  He continued holding her in place as he stalked in her direction to snarl directly in her face.  “Is that understood?”  She felt her temper flare but let it go before she could do something else stupid.  “Of course, Lord Mand’alor.”  Maul released his hold on Daia and turned to return to his throne.
The rest of the meeting continued without incident.  Daia stayed focused on Maul the entire time.  The information being shared didn’t matter to her anymore.  She was pissed and he knew it.  There was no way he couldn’t feel it.
Once the meeting ended and those in attendance started to filter out of the throne room,  Daia left her spot on the wall to leave as well.  Maul quickly barked her name to stop her.  I guess he’s not done.  Fine.  Quickly she made her way back to the throne and started talking before he could berate her.  “You said I would start work today.  Smuggling weapons past a Separatist fleet sounds an awful lot like what you hired me to do.”
Maul rose and immediately entered her personal space, never once letting go of her gaze.  “I also told you that you are to remain in this city until I decide you may leave it.”
Daia’s eyes may have lacked the flaming appearance of Maul’s but the fire was certainly present regardless.  “Very well Lord Mand’alor.”  She dipped into an exaggerated bow.  “Shall I inform you when I eat, bathe, and sleep as well?  If there are no more restrictions on my movements, I’d like to go to my ship and let my job contacts know I’ll be unavailable for longer than I expected.”
A soft growl left Maul’s throat before he stepped back.  “I expect you back here in the morning.” “Of course.  Whatever my lord wishes, right?”  She turned on her heels and strode back out of the throne room.
The long walk to her ship was thankfully uneventful, the only people she was forced to interact with being the same dock guards she’d seen the other day.  Lowering the ramp of the Fever Dream, she trudged her way up and into the small freighter.  Thoughts about how the last two days could have gone so wrong so fast had slowed her usual confident gait.  Lost in thought she was suddenly in the cockpit in front of the long range communication console.  The console was lit up to alert her to waiting messages.  Pressing a couple buttons revealed a small holoprojection of a Rodian missing his left antennae.  “Daia I asked around and I finally got a couple jobs for you.  These are gonna get snatched up quick so get back to me asap.”  Well shit.  Aside from Death Watch, Skax always found the best paying work.  It wasn’t always necessarily safe or completely legal but it kept plenty of credits in her hands and fuel in the ship.
With a sigh she sent a signal out to Corellia hoping the Rodian would answer.  After a minute a similar holoprojection to before shimmered before her eyes.  “Well if it isn’t my favorite pilot!  You get my message?”  If his joyful demeanor was anymore painted on, it would flake off his face.
“Yeah Skax.  I got your message.  Look, I’m gonna be unavailable for a while.  I may have done something stupid.”  May have was an understatement.  The more she thought about it, the more certain she was that this whole trip had been a mistake.  The Force had tried to warn her something was off but she didn’t listen.
Skax muttered in Rodese for a moment before switching back to Basic.  “What do you mean unavailable?  Is your ship damaged?  That thing never breaks.”  That’s because I don’t tell you how often I fix it.
Daia shook her head with a small insincere smile.  “No, she’s not broken.  I’m just gonna be grounded on Mandalore for a while.  I’ll contact you when I can leave again.”  With no indication as to how long she’d be stuck in Sundari, a while was the best answer she had.
The Rodian’s sickly pleasant demeanor finally dropped as he threw his arms in the air.  “What the fuck are you even doing on Mandalore?  I thought you stopped going back there months ago.”
“So did I.  Look, I’m fine.  I just can’t take any work right now.  Let someone else have them.  I’ll get in touch with you later.  Try not to miss me too much.”  She ended the transmission before he could argue with her.  She knew he’d get over being cut off.  He always did.
The second day of her extended stay at the palace began the same as the previous, with a pounding on her door, but this time Savage waited outside instead of forcing his way in.  After a final check of her clothing and weapons she stuffed a large yellow fruit between her teeth and walked out the door after her chaperone.  Walking down the hallway she finally took a bite of her breakfast.  The fruit flooded her mouth with a bright sweet flavor that made her momentarily forget she was under house arrest.  Savage’s words broke her silent reverie.  “What is that?”
“This?”  She held up the fruit in her hand.  “A meiloorun.  You can get them in every market from here to Coruscant.  I love them.”
He just shrugged and shook his head at the unfamiliar fruit.  He’s never had one?  That won’t do at all.  Carnivore or not, every sapient being had to try one at least once.  “Hang on a second.”  She pulled a small knife out of her pocket and Savage instinctively grabbed her wrist to stop her movements.  “It’s for the fruit, not you.  Knife’s not big enough anyway.”    Once he let go of the vice grip on her wrist she cut the fruit in half and offered one to Savage.  “Here.  It’s illegal to be a grown man and have never tried it once.”
Savage looked between Daia and the fruit with extreme suspicion but made no move to take the offered fruit.  She huffed and slapped it into his hand.  “If I was going to kill you, I wouldn’t use a fruit.  Just eat it.”
He sniffed at it and tentatively took a small bite while Daia rolled her eyes at him.  The juice and sweetness caused his eyes to widen in surprise before he greedily finished the rest.  A small smile crept onto his face before he was able to hide the unbidden expression.  After a few seconds of wrestling with his thoughts, Savage muttered “Thank you.”
“No problem.”  She couldn’t help the smile on her face as they finished walking to the throne room for what was sure to be another mind numbing meeting.
The throne room was the same as the previous morning, the only difference being Almec’s clothing and Maul’s ever changing seating position on the throne.  Maul’s gaze followed her as she and Savage walked across the room to her place on the wall.  She nodded and smiled at him as she passed but said nothing.
The meeting began with a wave of Maul’s hand as it had the day before.  Almec droned on again, Saxon and Kast gave their reports on Death Watch’s work.  Daia half watched Maul’s reactions and half pretended she was somewhere else until she heard the Pyke representative mention the weapons waiting on Agamar.  “My lord Maul, we have not heard word from our ship sent to Agamar.  We have sent a second to ensure their success.  We...we hope to hear from them by day’s end.”  You won’t.
Maul’s irritation whipped dark waves around him in the Force.  Everyone in the chamber fell silent,  It didn’t take Force sensitivity to sense his feelings about failure.  He completely ignored the holographic Pyke as he addressed the Falleen. “Have your ships ready to go to Agamar by morning.”  He snapped his head back to the Pyke  “For your own sake, you had best bring news of your success tomorrow.”  The Pyke took a step back despite being on another planet. “Ye-yes lord Maul.”
Daia sent out a small message through the Force to Maul before the next person spoke.  A simple sensation more than words.  A push to say that she could perform whatever task was laid before her.  He responded to her intrusion by shoving her back into the wall without so much as looking in her direction.  All heads turned in her direction at the sound of her back smacking into the wall.  “It’s nothing, please continue.”
The daily briefing finished as it had before and Daia walked out the door with the rest of those who had attended.  She spent the rest of her day walking through the city or fighting with P4R-E in the palace training room.
The next day started with another pound on the door from Savage.  This time when Daia left the room she tossed him his own meiloorun with a grin.  “Since you liked the last one so much.”
Savage responded with a smile of his own before enjoying his gift.  The two walked in comfortable silence to the throne room for Daia’s third day of being Maul’s wall decoration.
Once again Almec droned, then Kast and Saxon delivered reports.  Again, Daia kept her eyes on Maul monitoring his responses, both visible and only present in the Force.  This time, a different Pyke representative was present.  I guess they failed.  Big surprise.  Maul spoke to the Falleen hologram “Send your ships.  Do not fail me.”  The Falleen bowed, “Yes lord Maul.”
Daia stepped away from the wall and cleared her throat.  “Lord Mand’alor, I believe that you would have more success if I was permitted to accompany the Black Sun ships in my own ship.  I swear to you, I can make it to the surface of that planet.”  Maul stared at her for a moment, his expression completely unreadable to her.  “No.”  Why am I even here if he won’t listen?
She left the room as soon as everyone had finished.  The Death Watch target range called to her.  She needed to shoot something, or several things many times.  Death Watch had taken over a section of the gardens to convert into their own personal target range.  Armored warriors joked and showed off their marksmanship for one another.  A few kept to themselves and stayed focused on their targets while others still crowded around benches to clean and maintain their weapons after their firing exercises.
Daia pulled her blaster out of its holster and gave it a quick once over as she made her way to join the others.  It could use a good cleaning.  She’d have to disassemble it and scrub it clean after her practice today.  She’d been too lost in thought to keep an eye on what was in front of her until she collided with an armored chest.  Looking up she found herself face to face with Gar Saxon, wearing a particularly intense look of disapproval.  “What are you doing here smuggler?”
“The same thing as the rest of you.”  She looked around as if he could have been speaking to anybody else.  “Perfecting my aim and taking care of my blaster.” Saxon crossed his arms and stayed planted directly in her path.  “You aren’t welcome here.” Daia rolled her eyes and scoffed at him.  Shit, did he find out?  “I was welcome amongst you all the last time you saw me.  In fact, I recall sharing drinks with most of you.” “Last time we saw you, you were bringing much needed supplies to Concordia.”  Saxon leaned down close to her face.  She should have felt threatened but with the way her week had been going, she was just irritated.  “Then you stopped without notice.  Some of our soldiers starved without those rations.  What makes you think you’d be welcome among us after that?” “I’m sorry but last I checked, you stopped contacting me.”  After her last visit, Almec had been thrown in prison and Viszla had tried killing a Jedi in his attempt to take Mandalore for the Duchess.  It was best that Daia remain scarce until somebody from Mandalore or Concordia contacted her.  Nobody ever did.  “It’s a little hard to set up cargo drop off when your contacts are either in prison, exiled, or dead.”
“Let her through, Saxon.”  Kast came up from behind him and gave him a shove to the side.  “Mand’alor told her to make herself at home in the palace.  Like it or not, she can be here too.”
Saxon snorted and shoved his way past Daia, bumping her shoulder with his armored one on the way out.  Feeling petty, she lightly flicked her fingers as she slightly tripped him up with the Force.  His quiet curse brought a satisfied smirk to her face.  “Vor’e, Kast.  Would you care to join me?  There’s no shortage of targets.”
“Ba’gedet’ye.” Kast waved away Daia’s thanks.  “I guess I’ll have to stay and teach you how to shoot properly.”
“Is that so?”  Daia barked out a laugh and made her way to the nearest shooting lane.  She pulled out her blaster again and took aim at the humanoid shape downrange.  “I look forward to making you eat those words.”
She stayed at the range for a few hours, trading shots with Kast and mocking each other whenever a blaster bolt went wide.  It felt good to have a friend on Mandalore again.  When they’d had their fill the two cleaned their weapons and went their separate ways, but not before making plans to meet up for target practice again.  After Kast left, Daia found herself a meal and took off to the training room for P4R-E's company for the rest of the evening.  Perhaps fighting with her droid would erase her frustration with her employer.
Another morning, another pounding on her door.  Five days since she had come to Mandalore and four of them spent as Maul's silent pet.  This time she walked past Savage without stopping as she deposited a meiloorun in his waiting hand.  "Come on.  Your brother's waiting for me to hold up the throne room wall again."  The path to the throne room was beyond familiar and allowed her mind to wander until she once again found herself leaning in the same spot she'd occupied for most of the week.  Her mind slipped into the Force, feeling the failure of the Black Sun before anyone could address it.  Maul must have felt it too.  His presence in the Force had become an inky rolling boil, a significant change from its usual flowing shadows.  Somewhere in the room Daia distantly heard someone mention contacting the Hutts for a ship to make the pickup.  The boil around Maul managed to become even more intense as she felt her own temper flare simultaneously.  The Hutts?  Only if you want them to steal a quarter of your cargo and claim they lost it.  Her patience had finally met its end.  The moment others began to leave, she flew out of the room without a word and back to her own.
Daia's mind was a flurry of thoughts as she gathered the necessary things for a fast trip off of Mandalore.  I'll get those fucking weapons.  She shouldered her bag and paused a moment to leave a bowl of meilooruns on the table with a note, “Savage, these are all yours.”  She stormed out the door and made a beeline for the Fever Dream.  The same guards she’d seen every time nodded as she passed.  “Just dropping some things I don’t need at the ship.  I’ll be right back,” She lied.
Once out of sight she dropped her bag and ran for the cockpit.  “Who does he think he is?  Sending Hutts to do my fucking job.  Bastard.”  Daia’s hands flew over the controls of her ship, skipping through her usual preflight checks and firing up the engines.  The ship rose from the platform and began to turn in place to head out of the city.  Over the roar of the engines, Daia could just make out the guards shouting at her, probably to land the ship before they shoot.  She waved at them out the window before closing the loading ramp and flying up into the atmosphere.
Before she could rise high enough to watch the sky turn from blue to black her comm crackled and Saxon’s furious voice filled the cockpit.  “What do you think you are doing?!”
She checked her proximity sensors.  No one was following her.  Not yet anyway.  She hit the comm to open the channel so she could answer the man.  “I’m doing my damn job.”
Saxon wasn’t hearing it.  She didn’t think he would anyway.  “You have exactly 15 seconds to turn around before I blast that piece of garbage out of the sky.” Daia let out a sharp laugh at his threat.  “Now now Saxon, why would you shoot someone else’s ship down when it’s me you’re mad at?”  Every moment she kept him arguing with her was another moment for her to fly out of his range.
The supercommando ignored her and began counting down.  “15...14...13...12...11…10...9...” She cut off his countdown.  “I’m sorry, I’m having difficulty hearing you.  Did you say ‘nine’ or ‘good flying’?”  A few more seconds was all she needed before being able to jump to hyperspace.
Maul’s voice rolled out of her comm’s speaker.  “Let her go.”  He must have been standing there listening the entire time. “I’m sorry Lord Maul, what?” came Saxon’s confused reply.
“I said, let her go.”  Daia could hear the irritation in his voice at being questioned.  There was also a hint of curiosity behind it.  He wants to see if I can do it, doesn’t he?  “Either she returns with the weapons or she dies and is no longer our concern.  I trust you heard that Daia.  Either you return with those weapons, or don’t bother coming back at all.”
Again she let out a short laugh.  “Oh that won’t be a problem at all, handsome.  Hopefully the palace doesn’t collapse without me holding up the walls.  Try not to miss me too much.”  Her ship had cleared the atmosphere completely.  She was free.  With one last glance back to the planet behind her, she hit the hyperdrive and was thrown away from Mandalore and towards Agamar and her prize.

Mari In Twisted Wonderland | Abridged Version | Savanaclaw
Chapter 2
Days after the Overblot Incident and Revenge Unbirthday Party, Mari gets another dream and this time it’s about the furries-- I mean, animals. She didn’t really get what it meant.
Lunch happened and Ruggie stole Grim’s lunch. Mari was confused but then they were called to the Headmaster’s office so she couldn’t question it.
Crowley explained shit to the shared brain cell trio and Mari. Blah blah blah. Grim got upset that he can’t play magift and show off. Mari rationalized with him that he won’t be able to show off if he’s only a beginner and that she’ll treat him to canned tuna to cheer him up. He seemed to be having a terrible day, getting his lunch stolen and then being told he can’t participate in a sports event.
She asked Crowley if he was searching for a way home but quickly realizes that he didn’t seem to be doing it. Though, she didn’t really say anything about it since the demon brothers were probably looking for a way to get her back.
Then they got back to their dorms later but Crowley came to visit and explained that students were getting injured and shit was real sus since there were a lot of them. Grim told him that he didn’t want to help but he pretty much just forced them by saying the Ramshackle Dorm wasn’t free. He also bribed Grim by saying he’d let him participate in the magift tournament. Though, Mari was aware that he was lying through his teeth. However, she said nothing since she didn’t want to break Grim’s spirit again. Plus, she was going to help regardless of the situation. Might as well be helpful while she’s stuck in there.
So the investigation started. They looked in the infirmary and Mari noticed that there were no Savanaclaw students that were injured but figured that maybe the culprit hasn’t got to them yet. Then they interrogated two injured students from Heartslabyul and they didn’t get any helpful answers so they tried looking for more clues. Only to fail and go back to the Ramshackle Dorm.
Ace visited and they explained the situation to him. But then Deuce ran in and yelled about how Trey got injured too. So they ran to the Heartslabyul dorm and saw him.
Mari was genuinely proud of Grim for being nice enough to give Trey the can of tuna she bought for him earlier in order to cheer him up.
Riddle came by to check on Trey and then explained how he got injured. Then Cater pulled everyone excluding Trey to a different room and let Mari tell them about the other injured students.
So, the Heartslabyul gang + Grim and Mari went to investigate together and saw the Pomefiore Dorm, which was probably Mari’s favorite dorm so far. It was certainly pretty.
And now for Mari’s first impression of Rook: “Dang he kinda hot”
Rook will remember that
Then the rest of the gang decided that he didn’t look strong enough so the culprit probably wouldn’t wanna target him, then went on to Octavinelle to see the tweels.
First impression of the tweels as she and the rest ran for their dear lives: “Jesus fuck they’re creepy”
They escaped and Mari finally remembered what she noticed about the injured students again. “Savanaclaw might be the next targets since there weren’t any injured students from there”
So they got to the Savanaclaw Dorm and met Jack. She was like “oh you’re the hot furry” and he was like “excuse me?” Then he tells them that he won’t be targetted and that they should fuck off.
Then they got in trouble with Savanaclaw delinquents and Leona and Ruggie came. Leona recognized Mari as the herbivore that stepped on his tail. The delinquents get angry but he still drinks respecc women juice and just challenges the gang to magift. Since Mari had no magic, she had to sit this one out.
She goes home and sleeps, but then realizes she can’t and decides to have a midnight walk because she hasn’t seen enough horror movies to know that’s not the best idea. Then she meets Malleus. Probably thinks he’s the hottest guy she’s seen in NRC besides Leona and Jamil.
“Oh, you are a child of man” “And you’re a man with horns”
She isn’t particularly intimidated by him. Like— She’s met Lucifer and has been nearly killed by him twice. Some strange dude with horns got nothin’ on him. Mari asked who he is and he seemed to be surprised by that, then he smirked.
Dude said it would be better if she didn’t know and let her call him whatever she wanted. She was like “Aight” then he left.
Mari goes to sleep and has another dream. She wonders why she’s having another dream about animals and why does the lion look familiar. Then she woke up, wondering what it meant. Barbatos was rather vague when he gave her his parting gift.
On the way to school with Grim, she told him about the Tall handsome dude with horns. He dubbed him “Tsunotarou”. She liked the name a lot and decided to use it.
They meet up with Cater and Riddle, who tell them that Jamil got injured. So they go meet him.
‘Ah fuck his voice is hot too’ Mari thought when she met him. It seemed that she was right about Kalim, he was quite friendly.
So they finally found out about Ruggie but couldn’t catch him. Then Jack appeared again. He’s like “Why are you working so hard for other people’s sake?”
Ace is like “Lmao we just wanna get picked for the magift tournament and show off. We don’t give a shit about these guys.”
Mari sighed and said, “Why is literally everyone in this school so selfish?” And Jack questions her as to her reason for doing it. Then she replies with “Well-- Crowley kinda said that living in the Ramshackle Dorm wasn’t free. Though, he didn’t really have to force me since I would’ve helped regardless because I just like feeling helpful.”
Then Jack told the shared braincell trio that they’re worse than he thought. Though, he also mentioned that he didn’t trust Mari’s type. As in, “Guys that just do things for others”
Ace was like “no u”
Then Jack was like “Fight me bitch. If you want me to spill my guts, you gotta defeat me”
Deuce went bad boy like “fuck yeah lets go dude” and they fight
And they win. The rest of the guys are surprised that Mari knows how to fight. She’s like “The Future King of Hell taught me martial arts for like a year” and they’re not sure whether she’s being serious or if she’s crazy.
And then Jack went into this whole spiel about how cowardly tricks make him nauseous and how he wanted to use his own power to claim victory at the top. Then he finally spills the beans on what Ruggie’s unique magic is and how Savanaclaw is in on the plan.
“Why would they?” “How well you do in the magift tournament can have a big impact on your future, right? So I can’t say I don’t understand their feelings”
“GRRRRRRRRRRRR”
Mari is like “Dude, chill. Understanding someone doesn’t mean you agree with them.”
Jack replied with “The now comes before the future! Show what you can do now!”
Then goes onto yet another spiel about how he can’t stand Leona and how that guy is amazing but never gives his full effort.
Ace whispers to Mari like “Damn he tsundere for his own dorm leader”
And Jack tells them that Savanaclaw is going to target the dorm leader of Diasomnia, Malleus Draconia during the day of the magift tournament.
Riddle and Cater come by like “Lol thanks for telling us” Then Riddle was going to tell them the plan but Jack was like “bitch im not gonna help. Im gonna do this shit myself. Bye”
Mari countered with “What have you accomplished on your own?”
He’s just >:(
“Smart wolves hunt as a pack” “Ugh fine. But if your plan sucks, I’m leaving.”
So after hearing Riddle out, he’s like “Aight I’ll help.”
Everyone came to an agreement and went to their respective dorms. Mari has another dream, then thought “Bruh he really wanted to be king then when he became king, he didn’t even do it right.”
“Oi, wake up.”
Mari felt someone shake her awake. She groaned and swatted away the hands, wanting to sleep more. It didn’t quite register in her mind that someone broke into her room. It was only until her blanket was tugged away from her. The cool air hit her bare body. She shuddered and her eyes finally fluttered open to see Jack with a flustered expression before he threw the blanket over her body.
“WHY THE HELL ARE YOU NAKED?!”
“WHY ARE YOU IN MY ROOM?!”
“Tch.” He looked away and rubbed his neck. “I came from my morning run to wake you up early. I couldn’t let you oversleep on the day of the tournament. S-Sorry for breaking into your room…”
Grim perked up and was motivated to go immediately so that he could collect his reward to play in the tournament. “Come on! Let’s go already!”
“Just let me get dressed and I’ll be right with you. Be patient.”
For the rest of that morning, Jack couldn’t look at her directly. When he did, images of that embarrassing situation all came back to his mind
So they got to the stadium. Shit hit the fan but everything was fine because Heartslabyul revealed their plan. Diasomnia is perfectly alright.
Leona got pissed and he revealed his unique magic. Sand is everywhere. He’s trying to kill Ruggie.
Mari is like “Ugh I hate sand”
Jack also revealed his unique magic and turned into a full furry-- I mean, wolf. This surprised Leona, which gave Riddle the opportunity to collar him.
Lilia be spittin facts.
Hearing Leona yell about agony and despair and that things will never change kinda made Mari’s heart hurt because it felt… familiar. How hopeless he seemed to feel. It reminded her of how she was before coming to the Devildom.
Then he overblotted.
Then they beat the sit out of him. Mari is like “Does this usually happen?”
So the magift tournament went on and Savanaclaw still got to play because the injured students wanted revenge. Grim also reminded Crowley about his reward so he was allowed to play against Savanaclaw.
Grim did an oopsie and tried to do a special move but it backfired and hit Mari in the head instead. She had to be rushed to the infirmary.
She woke up to see the shared braincell trio and the furry boys. Ace told her that she’s been asleep for so long that the closing ceremony was over and they’re dismantling the venue.
Leona told her that Diasomnia was the champion.
Ace and Deuce talked about how good Malleus was for a moment. Jack was like “No one can win if they give up before they try.” Mari agreed with him. He then said that he was going to beat Diasomnia fair and square next year.
Leona was like ““Underhanded tactics” require one’s strength too” and she asked if he even felt bad. He was just like lmao no
A wild Babie has appeared. Leona went >:0 but introduced Cheka to them.
Mari squealed at the sight of such an adorable child. Internally she was saying “I’ve seen Cheka for 4 seconds but if anything were ever to happen to him, I’d kill everyone in this room and then myself.”
Jack: So the root of all Leona’s pain is…
Mari: The cutest lil angel ever!
Cheka: Are you guys my uncle’s friends?
Everyone else laughed at Leona except Mari who was busy introducing herself to the lil babie.
Leona will remember that.
Timeskip to when Mari went to sleep and saw the creepy shadow in the mirror. She’s lowkey shook but then she woke up. Seeing the time was pretty early in the morning, she decided to have a lil stroll to see the sun rise.
She found a good spot and sat down, singing lightly to herself.
The sound of leaves being crushed under one’s feet reached her ears from behind her. Mari didn’t bother looking up at the source, being too enamored with seeing the sky as its hues morph from navy to a golden yellow. The dark clouds turned into tangerine and peach ones. She gave a dreamy sigh.
“Oi, Mari.” She heard the gruff voice of Jack. “What are you doing here?”
“Oh you know, just… Watching that gorgeous sunrise. I’ve lived in a land with no sun for a year so seeing it like this is quite the blessing,” She responded, still not looking up.
“Seriously? I’ve never heard of a place like that.” Jack sat beside her.
“Yeah. Living in Hell was quite the experience but it was fun.” Mari chuckled lightly.
Her words caused him to furrow his eyebrows, wondering if she was kidding or not. He shook his head, deciding that it wasn’t important. He turned to her.
“So… about that time…”
“Hm? What time?” Mari finally looked at him, confusion swirling in her pools of chocolate. She tilted her head.
His face felt warm as the blood rose to his tanned cheeks. “Y-You know what I’m talking about!”
Upon seeing his flustered expression, she finally remembered what he meant. Her mouth formed an ‘o’. What could he possibly gain from bringing that up now?
“I wanted to apologize properly…” He spoke up again, rubbing the back of his neck. “I shouldn’t have violated your privacy like that and broke into your room.” He finally had the courage to look back into her eyes. Golden hues meeting chocolate.
“How can I make it up to you?”
Mari saw this opportunity and a smirk crept up onto her lips. “You could make it up to me by letting me pet you.”
He yelped and his eyes widened to the size of saucers. His ears stood erect. “Wh-What?!”
She pouted. “I thought you wanted to make it up to me? This is the least I could ask for after you broke into my room and saw me naked!”
“Okay! Okay! Just don’t yell or someone’s gonna hear you.”
Mari stopped and looked at him with expectations glinting in her eyes.
He leaned downward. His head was lowered and ears curled back, anticipating her touch.
She grinned and laid her hand over his head, caressing it tenderly. “Oh my~ Your hair is quite soft. I see that you groom yourself well, Jack. How nice~” She cooed, continuing to pet him with such pure glee swimming in her chocolate eyes. “How are you liking this? Does it feel nice~?”
“Tch… Just because I’m letting you do this, doesn’t mean I like it,” He told her.
“But your tail is wagging.” She pointed out. Blood spurted to his face and he pulled away.
“Alright, that’s enough!” He exclaimed to her, trying not to show her that he was flustered. “We’re going to be late for school if we don’t hurry.”
Mari glanced at the sun and nodded. “Oh! You’re right. I’ll go wake up Grim and head to class. Thanks again, Jack.”
“Don’t expect me to let you do that again. We’re not friends or anything.” He walked away from her.
A smile graced her lips as she watched him leave with a mirthful gaze. “Alright,” she whispered and made her way to the Ramshackle Dorm.

Night Road quote text dump, because I've been deluging a friend with quotes and want a place to keep them all.
We're a bit like that, yeah:
They direct you to a hulking Malkavian named Severian, and the sullen giant directs you in turn to Gibberish Mike.
Fortunately, it turns out that "Gibberish" Mike is just Australian.
Practical concerns:
"That's it!" Elena says, leaning over your shoulder. "That's his yacht. Oh, and this is all about him. Very useful." She snaps a picture of the email with her phone, then the two of you get out of there before the technician returns. You head down the elevator and then back to Elena's Datsun.
You're so pleased by how well that went that that it takes you a few minutes to remember you're in Arizona.
"His yacht?" you finally ask.
Fun with bungalow ownership:
After a day of fitful dreams, you throw on your leather jacket and engineer boots and get ready for another night. You step outside to check your Integra. A neighbor parks next door in her Ford Super Duty and gives you a friendly little wave. You've been practicing this. You're ready.
"Howdy, neighbor."
"Howdy!" she responds before heading inside.
Fucking nailed it. You're one of them.
This is legitimately how I got the Messy Critical achievement:
You grab a hoe.
You rip through the underbrush with savage efficiency, staying a few steps ahead of the pushcart as Julian scans. You work in a trance, chopping and hammering. Only when you hear Julian shouting do you realize that you're holding a busted length of wood.
The head of your hoe is buried in the beautiful round black door of Prince Lettow's Rolls-Royce.
Raúlblocked:
You head to Raúl's place, but he's not there. You find a note hidden above the door that reads, "Problems in Phoenix. (Jesus Christ has returned? Stole a car?) Contact me right away for major jobs and I'll come back. Already missing you." And there's a ProtonMail address with some of the security contact codes you agreed upon earlier.
But it looks like Raúl will be occupied dealing with the Lord and His automotive crimes, and he won't be able to wander around Tucson with you.
Pattermuster doesn't get paid enough:
"Hello? What? Well, the blood can't be 'everywhere.' Surely that's an exagger—okay—okay, fine. Okay. Okay, I'll get—okay. Five minutes. What? No, Sissy Spacek. No, Sissy—you're thinking of Rosemary's Baby. No, Carrie had the prom scene. With all the pig's—yes, it was Sissy Spacek, I'm sure. That much blood? Jesus. Okay, hold—five—okay, five minutes."
Valid question:
Do they teach ax fighting at Quantico?
Julian Meyer:
"Man, it's been a while," Julian says, leaning against your door frame. "I remember the nights we spent keeping that elder asleep with offerings of blood, the days curled up together in the desert. Wasn't it romantic?"
"That never happened, Julian. You made up our relationship and tried to sell it as a novel until the old Prince of Tucson threatened to execute you." '
"Vampire romance was big at the time," Julian says with a shrug. "And I changed our names. I still don't know why no one wanted to buy it."
Dammit I thought I was done with uni:
"Awful," Dr. Caul says with a little shudder. "But now your real studies can begin."
Your real studies consist of a syllabus (thirty pages) and a trunk full of books (35,000 pages).
"Are you disappointed, Rook?" she says with a little laugh. "Were you expecting something more mystical? A bolt of cosmic enlightenment? A conversation with your Holy Guardian Angel, who would reveal the answers you seek?" She bangs the trunk as technicians get ready to load it into your car. "Get reading."
An enthusiastic boss:
You reunite with Pattermuster down in the morgue, where he's pumping his fists as a thin-blood on a gaming laptop watches with a worried expression because she can't tell if he's incredibly happy or insanely mad.
"Rook!" Pattermuster shouts, his eyes full of Blood, "you did it! You brilliant child, you did it! We're safe. Oh, thank God, we're safe." He pulls you into an embrace, then punches a brick wall because he's so happy, showering all three of you in dust.
I thought that was Finland?:
You catch all sorts of whispered gossip as you cross the rooftop garden.
"Camp Scheffler?"
"Gone. That Outlander courier had something to do with it."
"I heard the Russians helped the SI burn it down."
"That's ridiculous. There's no such thing as Russians."
Pot, kettle:
"Julian," the Eagle Prince says, "you will locate Reremouse with the equipment Vane brought. Once we find him, we will strike shortly before dawn. I have prepared a stake sufficient to pierce even his old hide."
"That easy, huh?" Julian says.
"No, but—"
"Your plan is ridiculous, convoluted, and dangerous," Julian says.
"And you have a better one?"
"Absolutely," Julian says. "We use Stonehenge to teleport him to Mesopotamia."
The must-have appliance:
He's a black outline in the glow of a single yellow bulb... and then the bats descend.
And then the bats get torn to pieces, because Pattermuster pulls his two katanas out of nothing and turns into an undead Cuisinart for a few seconds.
But aesthetic:
Leave it to a vampire to bring a sword to a gunfight.
It is pretty cool though:
"Oh my God," Julian says. "You're going to use the car engine to fling Prometheus into Reremouse's heart."
"Dammit, Julian, I am not doing this because it's fun. I am scrambling for every advantage I can because we only have one chance to stop Reremouse, and if we fail, the Second Inquisition will descend on us like wolves on a wounded deer."
"It's still cool," Julian mutters.
A e s t h e t i c:
The Camarilla looks unkindly on vampires who dress like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, but what's the point of being dead if you can't look the part?
#JustToreadorThings:
You sleep badly and awaken to an aching and acute Hunger that crowds out other thoughts. But when you approach the Rolls-Royce, you find Lettow and Julian seated on a blanket, evidently in fine spirits. They're holding stainless steel mugs as they watch the last purple streaks fade from the western sky. There's something perfect about the composition before you: the two Kindred in their working clothes with their backs to you, the blue-black clouds, the faraway mesas framing the scene.
"I fear we've lost the Aesthete," Lettow muses. "Luka? Luka!"
It's just good sense:
A lot of keypads use 0911 as an emergency override for police and fire. That doesn't work, but a common default password causes the elevator doors to slide right open.
Change your defaults, people.
They draw the line at 31%:
Not all problems can be solved by putting a brick through a window, but at least 30 percent can.
Descriptive:
That's when your Nissan makes a sound like a bunch of typewriter keys dropped in a blender, and the whole truck lurches to a halt.
Munch munch:
"There are tags attached to all the payroll numbers," you say. "FNMA. PFC. What are they?"
"FNMA?" Antonio says. "That's Fannie Mae. The loan commission. Privatized in 1968. PFC…"
"Pavlodar Fried Chicken," Janet says. "Damn Commies."
Courier what did you do:
When you try to start your Mercedes, it vomits black smoke. That's not good. You kill the engine.
"Pop the hood," Julian says. "I'll get it up and running."
He checks the motor. There's a long pause.
"Did you melt a bunch of cheese in here or something, Vane?"
“I remember crawling out of a Nieuport 20 outside Gibraltar," Prince Lettow says. "The engine looked like that. Of course, ours had been on fire."
"Engine looks like Vane fed a bunch of sardine cans into a paper shredder," Julian says.
Almost!:
So Lettow is cute. I'm going to talk to him and see if he might be interested in a handsome young courier who almost has his own car.
Scientist life:
A beaker of cold coffee on her desk has a pencil in it; she flicks the pencil away and drains the entire beaker, then looks you in the eyes.
Domesticity:
"Wow, Vane," the Banu Haqim says, "did you finally settle down. Where's the wife and kids? Why don't you get me a beer, and we can talk about football and quote some Bible verses at each other?"
I really want to know where the fake werewolf came in:
"...so the whole fucking Cadillac is on fire, and I'm kicking and kicking, trying to get the window to break!" Dove says.
"Right, right, because —" You're trying to follow this story, and it isn't easy.
"Because I'm still handcuffed to the guy who was pretending to be a werewolf, right. And I finally kick through the window, rip half the dead fake werewolf's arm off to get free — I'm out of my fucking mind now, with all the fire — and I finally crawl out of the car."
"And get clear before it — do they blow up?"
"Escalades? I dunno, probably not," Dove says. "But anyway, I'm finally clear, so I run across the parking lot, laughing because I'm just thrilled not to have met final death chained up to that guy. And I barely have time to look up before Lettow comes screaming around the corner in a Ford Bronco with the lights off and runs me over. I was in the wrong Cadillac the whole time."
"No!"
"Two black Cadillac Escalades in the parking lot of the Marriott," Dove says. "How was I supposed to know which one — anyway, that's why I don't get to drive anymore. That's why Lettow wants assholes like you driving."
"Driving what?" you ask. "Because I need a car."
Dove shakes her ugly head. "I'll get you something. Give me a few hours to work on it, and I'll send someone to find you."
Cars are everything:
You still don't know how Julian plans to go from "divert a few funds and data streams from the Camarilla" to "transform the global information panopticon in a way that ends the Masquerade but keeps vampires safe," but he has a nicer car than last time, so he must be doing something right.
Guys please be nice to Raul:
"There appears to be a vampire hunter outside," he says, "investigating your electric vehicle."
"Send your bird to peck his eyes out," Julian says. "I'm not going outside until I find my sneakers."
Cheese?:
Over the next few minutes, you cough up a glorious wad of bullshit involving MKUltra, the Philadelphia Experiment, Star Wars (the movie), Star Wars (the Reagan-era government program), Jackson Pollack's CIA connections, the history of federal cheese, and the secret mastermind behind the seventies gas crunch.
In fairness it's a pretty rare sound:
You're way up in Limberlost, near the mall and the Walmart, when Riga settles on the roof of a Safeway. You reverse into the parking lot in case you need to get out fast and scan the cars at the pumps. It looks quiet. Then you hear a faint ringing.
The sound is musical, hypnotic. It reminds you of your childhood, and for a long time you just sit there in the driver's seat, remembering what it was like to be alive. But what is that sound? What memory from…?
Oh, right.
The pay phone next to the ice merchandiser is ringing.
It's a skill!:
Not every member of Clan Toreador joins their august ranks because of their great beauty or artistic genius. Some people end up vampires because of their extensive knowledge of Adobe After Effects.
Big Pirates of the Caribbean energy:
"I'd kind of like to give Lettow here a horse and a sword and let him tear through an entire police barracks," Julian says. "Tell me that wouldn't be fun."
"One thing I learned from Napoleon," Lettow says, "is that the most powerful cannon is useless if you cannot see your target. We know the location of one small encampment. That isn't enough to start shooting."
"You knew Napoleon?" Julian asks.
"Napoleon was my horse," Lettow says.

What I Love About "So Long and Thanks for all the Smoothies"
A controversial episode to like, I know.
Just to get the obvious out of the way, I don’t think it’s reasonable to come to the conclusion that Ben is portrayed as a “sociopath” during the events of this episode, specifically near the ending. I realize that perhaps it would have made a clearer point to address the concerning truth about the old universe and everything in it being dead and gone, but I feel as though the target audience for this series was a factor in the decision to keep it simple, so to speak.
I don’t want to believe that the writers intended for Ben to come off as some kind of emotionally detached “sociopath.”
On top of that, resorting to calling him names solves nothing and only unnecessarily creates a bigger problem, especially within the fandom.
Anyway, what I do love about the episode “So Long and Thanks for all The Smoothies” is the maturity, level headedness, and leadership Ben displayed in the moments leading up to the accidental destruction of the universe.
Unfortunately, those rational, dare I even say admirable actions, have gone unnoticed due to his “failure.” Because he had “failed” to save the universe from total annihilation, he is not worthy of being seen as a hero, apparently.
It’s not like the first step to being a hero is possessing the courage to try, right?
Back in Ultimate Alien, we were introduced to Sir George - the founder of the Forever Knights, and by extension, the first ever Forever Knight, who was trusted with the power of Ascalon to defeat Dagon.
Tumblr media
Similarly to Ben, he was viewed as a hero because of his dedication and courage...but he didn’t succeed in his mission. He failed, and then, as we know, it was up to Ben to save the world from Dagon.
Tumblr media
But do you think that George failing to stop Dagon, even while armed with the power of Ascalon, made him less of a hero in the eyes of the Forever Knights?
I wouldn’t assume so. He shouldn’t be discredited for all that he had done.
Even if George’s failure meant that Dagon would win and take over the world, he would still be regarded as a hero for his courage, persistence, leadership. and years of dedication to his cause.
Did Ben not display those same heroic traits in the moments leading up to the Anihilaarg going off? Why are those so disregarded?
And then to blame him for the destruction, and call him a sociopath? That’s insulting.
The episode opens with Ben and Rook protecting civilians from what we later learn to be the Contemelia ship anchoring itself to Earth, before heading up to space to investigate further. During this scene, this dialogue takes place:
Max: “Now, remember, Ben. We don’t know anything about that ship or what’s on board, so be careful.”
Ben: “Come on, Grandpa. You know me.”
Max: “Uh huh, that’s why I said it.”
Tumblr media
A common theory about Ben is that he puts up a ‘front’ to hide his true feelings, so as to not come off as less of the hero he knows he is capable of being. That is possibly what his behaviour at the end of this episode, after all is said and done, could be attributed to as well. But, while that is true to an extent, as shown in certain scenes throughout the series, I don’t believe that is always the case.
What his line here shows me is that he believes in himself and his ability to handle the situation. And, logically, when one believes in themselves, they translate that confidence in a genuine effort to do their job properly. Which, up until a certain...less intelligent character causes catastrophe to strike, Ben was doing.
I’ve theorized about this phenomenon before, but it seems as though if another character, who, for whatever reason, is seen as more ‘credible’ than Ben (most often Max, Gwen, Kevin, or Rook) comments about him in a way which is not entirely positive, it implies, to some of the audience, that Ben should not be taken seriously because he is not “mature” enough to be doing the job that he is.
And, by extension, calling him names becomes justified.
Max reminding Ben to be careful seems to make some of the audience expect him to not do a good job, or fail, as if he is too reckless or immature to be responsible or careful. However, his actions following this interaction show the opposite. He takes his job seriously enough to do everything in his power to prevent this potentially extremely dangerous device from falling into the wrong hands.
And, that effort should be valued and acknowledged.
Once Ben and Rook enter the ship, they are met with multiple morally conflicting characters. Namely, the Vreedle brothers, self proclaimed fugitives who are here “scavenging for weapons”, and Argit, who is in possession of the Anihilaarg, which he most likely stole from the ship earlier.
Not long after, an arguably even more dangerous character is added to the situation - Emperor Milleous, an Incursean dictator, who also conveniently has “destroyer of galaxies” as a part of his title.
Tumblr media
Now that is someone Ben would reasonably consider a threat! That is why he immediately begins to put together a plan and give out orders because he knows what to do. What I like about this is that his actions are rational, level headed, mature, and careful.
Ben: “There's no way that, uh, whatchamacallit's real, but the Incurseans are, and they're bad news.”
Just like Max asked of him, he displayed admirable leadership skills in what is arguably a high stress, highly dangerous, situation.
Tumblr media
Ben: “We've got to catch the Vreedle brothers before they set off that...[Annihilaarg]! Whatever. I still say it's not a real threat. But I don't want to take any chances when it comes to the Earth.”
I want to address this next point simply because I just know that someone would inevitably bring it up against Ben: that he didn't initially think the Anihilaarg was a real threat until it actually destroyed the universe.
Tumblr media
It's a tiny box with a red button inside. Would ANYONE seriously take that as a threat?
Besides it’s appearance, he did take the fact that this potentially dangerous device was in the hands of irresponsible, and known to be chaotic, fugitives, as well as being sought after by an Emperor, who has “destroyer of galaxies” in his title, and who probably wouldn’t hesitate to set off the Anihilaarg himself, given the chance.
Tumblr media
Ben didn’t want to take that chance, especially when it comes to the Earth, like he said. THAT was the real threat.
You could say that this is nothing new, because that is what his job entails and that is what he does every episode. But, that’s it exactly. That’s what he does. That’s what he did.
So why is he still being looked at as a sociopath?
Why isn’t somone like Argit, for example, being seen as a “sociopath” when it is ultimately his fault that the universe was destroyed?
Tumblr media
Argit: “The Vreedle brothers have left the building!”
Ben/NRG: “With what might be the most destructive device in the universe?! And they're heading to Earth with it! Argit!”
Argit: “Oh, like this my fault?”
I don’t see anyone talking about how he willingly handed the Anihilaarg over to the Vreedle brothers, knowing far better than Ben at the time what it was and what it could do. Besides the fact that Argit is already a morally conflicting character, he actually seems pretty loved by this fandom, but that’s another discussion entirely.
What made Ben a “sociopath”, allegedly, was that he was not shown having some kind of emotional existential crisis, directly after the recreation of the universe.
Tumblr media
And, like I had stated earlier, that most likely was due to the fact that the target audience for Ben 10: Omniverse is 8+. That is something we have to acknowledge, even if older audiences still enjoy the show.
The show is not intended for twenty somethings and, as you can probably tell, does not include the use of explicit language or mature themes that take things to the extreme. And before you say that this is why UAF is superior, even the guns used by police in an episode of Alien Force replaced bullets with lazers to accommodate to the target audience. Which, for the record, was also 8+.
Tumblr media
(Ben 10: Alien Force - “Save The Last Dance”)
If the writers were going to include a storyline about a device which destroys this fictional universe, and how the superhero Ben 10 makes a whole new one to “bring everyone back to life”, they are going to do so lightly. I’ll agree that the implications of such a thing happening in the real world are concerning, and it would have been appreciated by older audiences if those implications were further explored. But, because the writers are catering to a young audience which they are probably not expecting to jump to the conclusion that their hero is a “sociopath”, that was left out.
Tumblr media
Ben, in the episode “So Long and Thanks for all the Smoothies”, was shown taking responsibility of his role as the leader, doing everything in his power to prevent a catastrophe. That teaches the young audience how to maturely handle situations, and prioritize what is important while staying rational and reasonable. When disaster does strike, he is also shown doing all he can realistically do.
It should be admired that, if all he could do at that point was recreate the universe, he brought back everything and everyone the same to the best of his ability. He could have left out the things that would inconvenience him, like Vilgax, or Will Harangue for instance. But he didn’t, probably because it wouldn’t be morally right.
Tumblr media
Even if an older audience has a bone to pick regarding the implications of the plotline, you can not deny that Ben had been a good role model for a bad situation. That is what a young audience can take away from this, and I, personally, respect that about his character.

Congratulations
It's the first time I've ever written anything related to twisted wonderland so I hope you enjoy it.
It is inspired by the movie "the corpse bride" and an episode of ranma 1/2
I apologize if it is not well written as English is not my main language
Tumblr media
It was true that you loved idia from the first moment you saw him in nigth raven collage, his very shy way of being had captured your attention, and now here you were hiding next to Grimm, watching how ace, riddle, ephel and rook were trying to convince that unfortunate bride to marry one of them and put on that magic ring.
Although she had stolen from the person you loved to marry him as he was her "ideal prince ", which you also were, you were not angry with her, after all it was not her choice to die before finding the one who would be her prince, and it was not her fault to be wandering like a ghost without being able to find peace, you just couldn't hate her and even the idea of sealing her with a ring made you completely horrible, you felt sorry for her, But you also didn't want her to take idia's life, maybe you even felt a little jealous, but it's not that you could do much, now all your hopes were placed in your friends, it's not that you could do much, after all that girlfriend named eliza had already rejected several of your friends, and it's not that persuading a girlfriend was an easy task.
But as if fate wanted to reward that little bride for her long wait, your friends couldn't win her, your face was horrified to see riddle slapped hard and letting that magic ring fall off his hands when he was so close to putting it on, the ring all the way to where they were hiding looking at the whole show, this was wrong, well, it was worse than wrong, not only your feelings for idia but her life were at stake, The reputation of the school and poor ortho who loved his older brother.
Your face had a feeling of sadness, you wanted to help him, you wanted to be able to solve this, you wanted the bride not to suffer anymore, but the fact of wanting to do something is not enough, you also have to act, but if your friends, who were excellent magicians (well most) had fallen under the seal of the ghost bride, who would trust that you a simple human without magic, could save not only one of your best friends but also the one you loved, your face had no expression in space. Just looking into the void.
But just the mention of a single prayer made her heart collapse, "let the ceremony begin." those words made time stop... Time was what was needed to stop this madness, because it was 11 at night, I only had one hour, an hour that would last the ceremony to get married at 12... With all the pain in your heart you knew you couldn't do much for yourself, "come out of here Grimm, we can't do much here" you said while with a sad look you looked directly at idia, as if you wanted to apologize to him, you took the ring between your hands and turned away from the place.
They walked at a slow pace, while Grimm followed you closely and silently, you didn't want to see little ortho and tell him they had failed in their mission, not yet... As you kept walking you heard how the ceremony started with that wedding march that was so famous, even you had dreamed of it once, but not like this, as you went your way at the door you found a ghost sobbing, what was he doing there? You wondered internally, after all most of the ghosts were at the ceremony very happy to see how their princess had finally found her beloved prince.
Would it be ok to ask him why he felt sad? Well, you don't have much to lose either, you sat next to him and turned your back on him while you played with the ring between your fingers, Grimm curled up in your legs, "hey, why are you crying?" you asked him in a soft voice, because even if he was a ghost you didn't want to scare him, he turned around and you immediately recognized him as the one eliza called" his best friend." "It's not in your interest," I answer bluntly while turning my back. "Wait, aren't you friends with the ghost bride? , why aren't you at the ceremony, I just started?" Despite his rude words that you wanted to hear, it's not that you wanted to come back to give the bad news that you probably already knew," I told you it's not your human affair," you sighed deeply when you responded by looking at the already dark sky," you know... If you are really her friend you should go with her and support her... Just don't be a coward like me... I should have tried to help my friends but I hid and here I am running away from problems... Running away from fighting for the person I love "you said while a tear came out of your cheek, those last words burst the attention of the ghost who turned to see you," I love her" confessed the ghost silently, you turned to see her "I have loved her since we lived, but I could never say anything and I have no time todo so, after all she only sees me as her friend ".
There was a long silence between you two, three if we told Grimm that he was listening in silence to everything, you decided to look at the time on a watch that had been lent to you to see how much time they had left, 15 minutes to finish the ceremony, something was clear, you had run out of time... And as if a ray of hope had illuminated you came up with an idea and maybe the last hope of all, you looked at the ghost "you know... It's too late to try to stop the wedding, but it's not too late to be the first to say congratulations, it's the least we can do for them "you said as you smiled at the ghost even though your eyes will still run into a couple of tears.
You got up from your place as you put Grimm next to you, walker made some flowers that were nearby and cut some, forming a beautiful bouquet that you tied with the ribbon in the shape of a bow that was part of your uniform, you could get another one but could not get another idia "you know it would be rude of us to introduce ourselves without a gift" the ghost stopped from his place and you climbed Grimm on your shoulders, he whispered to your ear "what do you plan to do?" You just gave him in response a bass "you'll see ".
The three were running towards the cafeteria or in this case the place where the wedding would take place and before they could arrive some ghosts blocked their way, at that moment you thought that all is lost but that friend of the princess spoke before you could even open your mouth "it's okay she comes with me" those ghosts who acted as guards judged you with their eyes and let you follow your step.
You were in front of the cafeteria door, well, it was now or never a sigh as you heard those words that put at risk any wedding "if anyone opposes this wedding let them speak now or shut up forever" and at that moment you slammed open the doors, on your left side was Grimm and on the right the ghost, everyone was silent, the poor bride was furious while idia had a face of relief. The ghosts were about to attack you but before it moved out of place you spoke "I'm sorry for that, I think a little rough on my part" the bride watched your movements from the altar, you just walked down the main hallway with your two hands holding that bouquet you just made a moment ago, and between your hands that were covered with beautiful flowers you held the ring "I introduce myself, I'm a friend of idia and I... Sorry I meant us" you said as you turned to see the ghost next to you '"we just wanted to be the first to say congratulations'"
The bride smiled pleased by your words, while idia's face lost all its brilliance "in fact I have brought you this gift" you said showing that bouquet of flowers you held in your hands, you walked until you were in front of the bride, your heart beat quickly, it was now or never, when you put your hands on the bouquet you would put the ring "don't worry they are not poisonous flowers" you said with a smile she just looked at them and gave you a big smile, you felt your heart heavy. But you had todo it or that repeated in your mind, "thank you very much, you are really very kind" she said with a smile as she gave you a little kiss on the forehead and as if everything was moving in slow motion you saw her hands approaching the bouquet, you had todo it but you just couldn't, you didn't want to hurt her but you didn't want to lose idia either, you didn't know what else todo and when her hands touched yours under the arrangement, you collapsed. Dropping the bouquet and holding the ring against your chest.
"I'm sorry, but I can't do it" you started crying on your knees in front of idia, your friends looked at the scene in amazement, well it's not that they could do much in their current state either, "forgive me idia I want to save you but... I don't want to hurt you with the ring "more tears and sobs came out of you, eliza just looked amazed like the rest of the ghosts, idia just knelt down beside you while hugging you," forgive me..." He gently pulled you away from the embrace, "don't cry, it's ok... Although I would have liked to be able to read that comic by your side "you looked at it with tearful eyes" I also wanted to read it by your side, and not only that, also talk and play video games together for longer, why me... I... I love you idia "you said as you sobbed, he was silent as he hugged you and in a soft voice said" I love you too "and those words left you a bittersweet taste, you knew I loved you but now he would marry a ghost.
Eliza looked at the two embracing, she remembered that horrible day when her dream and life ended, her friend had comforted her in the same way although it also cost her her life, it was true idia was her ideal prince but... She didn't want to take her sleep away from someone as the world had done with her, she felt bad and even though the human was about to harm her she repented, she could feel that her feelings between them were real, she looked at her best friend sadly "you know... This is not right "she had realized the damage she had done" once they took away that dream of marrying my prince in some future, and now I am doing the same with someone else "she reached out to the two, who turned to see her still embracing," there will be no wedding, I... I am sorry for all the problems caused by "turning to see the others present" not only to them... To all, to my fellow ghosts and to the students of this school."
"I wanted to find my true love, my ideal prince like in fairy tales and fall in love with him, but I don't think it can be that way, but you've got it," she said with a sincere smile that you gave back. "y /n, Please take good care of him now and in the future "just a sigh and I look at idia" I'm sorry for everything I made you go through "I look at the other ghosts" I think it's time to give up "he gave a sigh and by an act of pure impulse you took his hands between yours" don't do it, it may not be as you describe it, but... I know someone who may be your ideal prince."
You took her friend's hands with your right hand and joined them with hers, whispered to him "come on tell him" and so he took a big breath of air and said "eliza I... I have loved you all my life and not life "eliza looked at him in amazement and there she understood something, she did not need a perfect prince, she needed someone to love her, and with all her strength she cried" the wedding is resumed "everyone had happy looks.
Again the wedding started with only a slight change of bride and groom and there you were sitting next to idia watching the ceremony. "If anyone opposes this union speak now or shut up forever" no one said anything, "well declared them husband and wife, you can kiss the bride" and the two ghosts kissed, everyone celebrated with applause and congratulations.
"Congratulations," you said to eliza as she hugged her, you held no grudge nor did she hold you despite so many emotions that had happened just a few minutes ago maybe hours, "thank you." she said happily, "thank you for what?" You asked her in confusion, "why thanks to you I found my prince and will finally be able to rest in peace," she said with a smile as she turned her back and threw her bouquet which, coincidentally or not, fell into your hands. "I'm glad you could have your happy ending in the end," you said with a smile as you looked at idia who gave you a gentle, cute kiss just like the fluttering of a small butterfly.
And as if nothing had happened the boys could move again and the school returned to its normal state as if there had never been a wedding. It was clear that ortho was happy to have his older brother back while principal crowley was reassured that they would not damage the school's reputation.
Tumblr media
I hope you liked it and I'm sorry if the characters stayed as oc, but I still don't get used to writing to the twisted wonderland guys, I still couldn't get this out of my head.

I’m gonna unleash a bit of salt in order to get this out of my system. Now that the excitement has died down a bit, to be quite honest, I feel like the Pomefiore arc was rather underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong. The first half of this arc until Deuce and Epel go out is great. (Even if I have issues with it, for reasons I’ll get into in a bit.) Just this update makes me feel mixed.
More undercut because of spoilers.
Issues I had with it
Why didn’t Jack play a bigger role in this arc? The flashbacks flat out stated that the two are close friends since they were little kids. You think that Jack would step in and help out a lot more if they have that close of a bond.
The climax seemed underwhelming storywise. It just seemed like Vil just shrugged and decided to randomly poison Neige out of nowhere. Then Rook stops Vil and he gets pissed, and then overblot. That just just seems rather basic to me. I thought that there would be a lot more to it like someone getting poisoned and the team curing them before confronting Vil or something more than just that.
Someone on Discord said that he was disappointed since the rhythmic battle with Vil was super easy to beat compared to Jamil and some of the other dorm leaders. I don’t play the game, so I can’t back that up. But there’s that, I guess.
Is it just me or did it take very little for Vil to overblot? He only used his powers only twice this arc, and then overblot. Hell, Leona used his powers more often than Vil before he overblotted! Like what happened with Leona, that doesn’t make sense or fit the established lore, seeming like a giant plothole. Idk, the story could have done a better job at building up to him overblotting and had him use his powers far more.
I’m kinda disappointed that Neige and Vil aren’t stepbrothers. I feel like something like that would’ve added more meat to their conflict. For one, it would parallel Snow White with Vil being jealous of a family member. It would’ve made the conflict much more personal on both ends, giving more meaning to the rivalry between them.
Neige and Vil hardly interacted, despite their spat being the centre point of that whole arc. I would’ve liked them interacted at least a lot at the end. (Yes, I know Leona hardly interacted with Malleus in his arc, but the latter doesn’t get out all that much and Leona was a lot more crafty with his plan, so there’s at least an explanation why.)
Someone posted a theory on here before this part came out about how Grant and some of the other dwarves getting jealous of Vil's team's skill, so Grant decides to go behind Neige's back to "cancel" Vil, saying his dirty laundry. This makes Vil extra pissed, thinking, "Fuck it. If I can't get my way playing fair, then I'll take him out of the competition."  After the battle, they apologize for how they treated him and undo the damage. I would've loved to see that play out, considering that would make the conflict more nuanced, and, for a lack of a better term, adult. If this was the case, Neige's teammates would be like Janice from Mean Girls in the sense that they were equally in the wrong and ruthless. Sure, poisoning people is wrong, obviously, but so is what they did.
What’s with the poisoned apple in the opening credits? And Kalim’s story that seemed like foreshadowing? And Jamil/Kalim’s skills about knowing how to deal with those who are poisoned?  Or Deuce falling behind the rest of the team? What about Vil pressuring Epel like he forced him into the competition for some dark reason? (Yes, I know he used Epel’s juice at the end, but there seemed to be more to it than that, because Vil could’ve poisoned any food or drink item and got the same result.) Those plot points sure lead to fucking nowhere.
Vil’s backstory seemed underwhelming and the least justified out of any of the dorm leaders so far. What’s his dark and “tragic” backstory? He just hated being typecast as a villain in roles and when he was very small some people were scared of him because they thought he was the same character that he played in a movie before they outgrew it for obvious reasons. Seriously, that’s it?! That’s his only motivation for steeping so low as to poison someone?! I get why he would be upset about about being typecast, but after seeing what others like Jamil went through during their pasts, it just seems like nothing. All actors are typecast in some way real life! I mean, people typecasted Robert Patterson after his role as Edward Cullen, but you didn’t see him snap like that after people doubted that he could play Batman. At least Azul was constantly bullied and fat shamed throughout his childhood, so his actions make far more sense. Vil just comes across as very melodramatic and his attempt to poison Neige just seems extremely unjustified. All it took was for a casting director say that “he wasn’t chosen for the role because they wanted a more ‘bland’ looking man in the main role” one time and Neige is his archenemy for life. It reminds me a lot of how Lance named Keith as his rival in Voltron, despite not knowing him. That seems rather OOC to me. Before it seemed like he was like Miranda from Devil Wears Prada where he was a strict and took things too far, but was professional and above else logical. Him declaring Neige as his rival just over that seems rather petty and isn’t something that a logical person like him would do. I wish his backstory was more inline with Jamil and Riddle’s where it alluded to some serious issues with the entertainment industry, just so that way his actions make more sense. (Seriously, you have no idea how fucked up entertainment industry can get. There’s a reason why former child stars are often so messed up in the head as adults.)
On a similar note, I kinda wish that the something happened on the team or in his personal life that pushed him over the edge like someone being injured on the team, putting the VDC in jeopardy, so he got desperate enough to do something that stupid and against his morals. Again, just so his actions made more sense and him trying to poison Neige came less out of nowhere.
Am I the only one that hates Vil’s overblot design? I’m a graphic designer. It looks far too busy, uses a lot of weird textures, there’s no visual hierarchy, it has nipples on it...for some reason, and he looks too much like those Virgin Mary paintings instead of a queen that he’s supposed to be. It just doesn’t suit his character at all. (Personally, if I designed the outfit, I would put him in a purple gown with a light purple cape, a high collar and crown on his head.) Then again, this is coming from the same person who hates Jamil’s overblot design, so take that with a mountain of salt.
Over all, I thought this arc would be epic, but it just felt meh when everything's said and done. I wouldn't be surprised it failed to deliver because of the hiatus making me build up false expectations for it in my head. Covid 19 probably messed up a lot of aspects of this arc. Understandable, but it still sucks, since I was looking forward to it.
Though, I swear if Vil loses the competition, because of “the villain must be punished in any Disney universe” bs, I’ll flip a table. (Because that’s not how things work in real life. This isn’t an underdog sports movie where a team can half ass their way to a victory. Neige’s team was super sloppy with their routine and Vil’s was just better on all accounts, so he should obviously win. Vil deserves that after all the hard work he put into this. Having Neige randomly win would go against what the game set up so far with it subverting a lot of anime tropes.)
Having said that, I love a lot of things about this arc. Everything until just this update is pretty solid storywise. Just I wish the story took its time more with this section to have it come together more properly. Though, I would’ve still liked Jack to play a larger role and for Vil to use his magic more often, since those were issues even before the update.
Eh, either way, I’ll just follow my original outline and make the changes I suggested in this rambling to my own take of the Pomefiore arc in my fic...once I get to that point, that is. It’s canon divergent anyways and I already said that arc would be different, so I don’t care if breaks away from the canon.

IMAGINE - ‘Hey girl I want to request teaching Spanish to the crew.’
This was a simple request by @verywell-fandango who I can’t tag right now (dear tumblr why are you doing this to me?). Do you like it? Do you not? I don’t know what I should think because this one here is a real ass piece of writing writing (not in my own language) and it scares the hell out of me because I know I have some errors etc. etc. Let me know what you think okay? It would mean the world. Thanks! LOVE YOU ALL!
Tumblr media
- You think it’s funny? – Y/N asked Slim as he made fun of her accent again. By this time she got used to it and usually doesn’t really bother her this type of mocking but right now she had enough.
- Why does my girlfriend wanna kill you this time? – Colson joined them with the pizza that just got to the studio and for what they were dying because of the hunger which builed up in them during the long hours of working.
- Why do you think that? – Slim asked with a cocky smile on his lips.
- Just look at her face… - Colson pointed at her face then as he got closer to her he gave a little kiss on her cheeck. - … I think she is thinking about various ways she could end you right here right now. – he stated as he sat down and got her in his lap.
- Oh you can bet I’m planning that… - she agreed with his boyfriend and instead of killing Slim she just started to eat. - … but pizza first.
- You know she is the who learned a second language… your lazy ass how many can speak? – Rook asked with a curious smile on his face as he grabbed a slice of pizza for himself.
- Sometimes not even english… - Baze joined the conversation.
- You always said you want to teach us some spanish… why don’t you do that right now? We can use some time off… just to ease our mind. – Colson asked looking at Y/N’s face with the cutest possible smile on his lips.
- We even have a board for you… - Rook pointed to the white board which was next to the wall and where they kept the different ideas for the new music.
- I think I can not live anymore with the only sentence I know properly  „Dos tequilas, por favor”. – Slim admitted looking at her with awkward smile praying quitly for his life. He knew really well that sometimes he went too far and maybe this time was one of that times.
- Algunas veces me gustaría matarlos a todos pero de verdad. Pero os amo demasiado… sé que eso es mi problema. – she said taking the last bite of the pizza she had.
- You know we can’t understand you… - Baze grinned at her jokingly.
- Her sentence got the word problema with which she reffered to me… about that I’m sure. – Slim said that.
- I think she said that she wants to kill us but she loves us too much… or something like that. – Colson said it without even looking at her girlfriend.
- I said exactly that… how did you know that? – she asked it as she was getting up to stand before the boys.
- May or may not had some spanish classes while you were away… - he admitted biting his lower lips while he looked at her amazed face.
- We get it… you are the best boyfriend and you two are the cutest couple on the earth because of sometimes I just wanna vomit but right now can we have her too… as a teacher? – Slim requested with a serious look on his face almost bursting into laughter. His will for not doing that was supernatural.
- What do you want to know? – she asked them
- We can always use some pickup lines in different languages… - Rook admitted as he started to get more comfortable on the couch.
- Who would have thought that? – she rolled her eyes as she walked to the board.
- But of course those won’t be for Colson… he can have his own private lessons. – Slim joked knowing really well his friends.
- You can bet I will have those… - he agreed on that with a smirky smile.
- Estás seguro*? – she asked him in spanish. *Are you sure*
- Sí… estoy seguro. Sé que me quieres.* – he answered with a quite good pronunciation which really got its effect on her. *Yeah.. I’m sure. I know you love me*
- Colson could you just shut up… probably in english because if you continue to do this we will finish it before even starting… - Rook admitted laughing while he looked at Y/N and Colson already feeling the obvious sexual tension between them.
- „Podrías callarte, por favor” it means could you please shut up. – she said with the brightest smile keeping ehr look away from Colson on porpuse.
- A sentence I will love to use… Podr…caal…. por favor. – Rook intented to repeat it but failed miserably.
- Almost. – she shook her head then repeated the sentence, practising with Rook it took him a while but after a few tries he said it well.
- How do you say: If kissing you were a sin I would happily walk through hell. – Baze asked and all of them looked at him like he was some type of alien. – We have been here for like hours… I don’t know when was the last time I saw the sunlight so forgive me if my brain can’t function.
- Si besarte fuera pecado, caminaría feliz por el infierno. – she translated his wish to spanish.
- Could you write it down? – Baze asked typing on his phone.
- If only you were a firefighter to be able to put out the fire of my desire. – Slim continued.
- You know you are single because of these pick up lines? You know that right? – Colson asked not really knowing where the boys got these ideas from.
- Podrías callarte por favor… we are trying to learn some new things. – Rook told Colson.
- Ojalá fueras bombera para apagar el fuego de mi deseo. – she continued the translating trying not to laugh out loud. – Don’t look at me like that… this is kinda divertido*. – Y/N looked at her boyfriend when he really couldn’t believe what she was doing for these idiots. *funny*
- I love when you talk spanish…. it always puts me in the mood. – he winked at her like he could eat her up then and there.
- WE KNOW THAT REALLY WELL. We can almost always hear you. – Slim admitted without even looking at Colson just typing on his phone.
- If I were a flight attendant, I would carry you in my airplane but since I’m not I’ll carry you in my heart. – Rook looked up from his phone asking Y/N.
- Dude… did you just googled the most cheesy pick up lines or what? You are killing me. – Colson asked not really able to sit in one place because of the laughing.
- Si you fuera azafata, te llevaría en mi avión, pero como no lo soy, te llevo en mi corazón. – she said is ad she wrote it down the turned to his boyfriend. – Let them be… I’m enjoying this.
- I have also an idea que te gustaría*… - he stood up stepping really really close to her. *you would love.
- Do you realise we still here? – Baze asked looking up at Colson prefering not even thinking about what he is witnessing.
- Do you think I care? – the only thing Colson asked before he left the studio knowing really well that in just a few minutes Y/N gonna follow him.
- Why do I think we just lost you? – Rook looked at her so blushing face.
- Porque me conoces… porque nos conoces*… - she winked and without even saying another word she left the room too. *because you know me… you know us
- Next time we want anything from her we should just lock up Colson because if we don’t do that they will jump on each other right before our eyes. – Slim stated.
- Tienes razón Slim… tienes razón…. – Rook repeated the words he just heard from Y/N right before her departure. *You are right
- We got another spanish speaking genious here with us…- Baze said it.
- Do you know it or should I just say it again? – Rook asked with a smile thinking about those shut up words he just learned…

[ Stained Glass (Fragments): Black & White Pt. 4]
Upon the chessboard that laid out in his mind, her little white piece was already surrounded. The Black King had already taken her, captured her. The white pieces, save for two Rooks that were out of play, had turned on her. Farona's movements were guided by his whims now. She couldn't move freely if she wanted the other white pieces to remain on the board.
The King, in chess, was weak and had to be protected by the other pieces to avoid checkmate. But Yune's piece, the Black King, governed the board ruthlessly behind that weak disguise. The King could move in any direction and take any piece that dared get close to him.
And he finally had little white right where he wanted her.
But the challenge was different now that she was on his side of the board. Her movements were controlled, but her mind and her emotions were still out of his reach.
As long as she refused to turn black, checkmate was impossible.
Yune was confident, however. Their likenesses, their monster blood, their shared past, their travels and experiences together, the betrayal of humans against her---it would all weave together to help him pull the shadows over her in a thick, suffocating curtain until she stopped resisting.
Only the White Rooks posed any chance of a lingering, remaining threat. And if they found their way back onto the board and into the game, they were going to regret it. Yune didn't have to pretend anymore. If either one of those twins tried to take Farona from him, they'd pay for the mistake with their lives and be wiped clean off of the board.
Although one of the many twisted thoughts that lurked in the reaches of his brain was curious how they would react if they knew everything now. He was particularly interested in knowing about how the bigger idiot of the two would take it. How would the assassin handle knowing the truth?
Would his hopeful little heart crumble to pieces?
Yune chuckled quietly to himself, unable to hold back the perverse enjoyment he received from that thought.
He hated the happy-go-lucky assassin. And hatred was nothing new in Yune's world, but he loathed that man with something that went beyond his hatred of humanity.
Farona was cordial and accepting toward humans in general. He never liked it, but he got used to seeing it. She was friendly with them and eager to prove herself as a worthy 'protector of the innocent'. Foolishly, she believed herself to be a part of them---one of them, even when they obviously didn't know the truth about her.
However, when that silver-haired assassin first showed up on the sandstone streets of Morroc, Farona treated him in a way that was clearly beyond her typical friendliness. Her eyes lit up at the sight of him and she ran---ran straight into that man and threw her arms around him.
Yune had been shocked by the unexpected embrace and the resounding, cheerful laughter from the both of them. He had never seen her display such an open, trusting affection toward anyone. It shook him to his core.
Why did she trust this man? What was their relationship? Why did she look so happy upon spotting him?
The questions mounted and stacked in rapidly, one after the other, all needing answers.
Ryshun Kurdite was his name. Yune's impeccable poker face and mask were not shaken in the slightest when he greeted the other young man light-heartedly and shook his hand. And the fact that the assassin wore a spiky band on his head, resembling horns, only irked the high priest all the more, but he let nothing show of his instant dislike on the outside. No one could see the way his eyes narrowed behind his sunglasses.
It only took about five minutes of watching Farona and the assassin talk for him to realize that they had a lengthy history together. There was a comfort she showed with him and a willingness to touch him that spoke of probably years of interaction. He had never seen her behave this way with anyone else.
And Farona invited Ryshun into their party like it was the natural thing to do. It was the last thing that Yune wanted, but he had no choice but to put up with it---and put up with that guy putting his hands all over her, teasing her, and talking about their "childhood" in Payon.
He probably didn't have even an inkling of what Farona's real childhood was like. The ignorance disgusted him. This joke was her idea of a "acceptance"?
Oh, he figured it out pretty quickly. Despite the idiotic way that he carried himself, the assassin knew that Farona wasn't fully human. It showed in his behavior toward her and his nonsense habit of calling her "Fur-ona". If she wasn't careful, he would blow her cover with just his stupidity alone.
On the outside of it all, though, Yune kept his easy-going, friendly persona as intact as ever. He doubted that the assassin really suspected much about him. There was a sort of unspoken tension between them, but he wasn't perceptive enough to pick up on Yune's true nature. The high priest was almost certain that the other man was wary of him only because of the fact that he was traveling with Farona in the first place.
And the flirting. He loved to tease the knightress even before they had company in their travels, but he doubled his efforts with Ryshun around. It obviously irked the assassin to see how flustered she became around Yune and he reveled in that.
Even moreso because that idiot obviously had feelings for her. Farona was oblivious to it, but Yune, having spent so much of his life studying others, noticed it very quickly. He was pining for her.
The thing he hated the most about Ryshun Kurdite, however, was his dumb, inconceivable luck. It wasn't beyond the priest to try to nudge the assassin out of the picture by complete "accident". He had formulated a number of plans to erase the idiot from existence.
However, each and every plan had failed. Instead of falling into the right place at the right time, the way it was supposed to play out, he miraculously, sometimes even impossibly managed to find that elusive one percent chance of evading imminent death. And Yune did not understand how it was possible---moreso that his luck never seemed to run out.
Worse than that, however, was another way that Ryshun's ridiculous good fortune put him a step ahead in a way that Yune despised with a passion---and coincidentally, had taken something that Yune always wanted.
Or more accurately, the assassin put himself in a position that Yune always wanted to be in.
The mere thought of it made his fingers clench tight within his gloves. As petty as it might have been, that time, during the battle against Doppelganger... that was what made him resent Ryshun with an ire that nothing could contest.
It reminded Yune of the only thing he had ever truly failed at since he was a child---
Saving Farona's life. ----- ( If you guys want a fun parallel for this part, if you follow the other blog, part of this is in reference to Yune’s POV on THIS scene: https://ask-ragnarok-travelers.tumblr.com/post/151998928721/the-dumbfounded-look-on-the-sliver-haired-mans  )

in chapter 3, nick brings john some food and tries to interrogate him, but it doesn’t go quite as planned. john sure is acting weird! i mean, weirder than usual. i mean, usual for john, anyway. i mean... well, let’s just say that nick is as in control as he can be in today’s update!
WHEW i really like this chapter actually, i had fun editing and writing it and all that. soooo i’ve been doing weekly updates but for the sake of consistency i’m going to be changing that to a bi-weekly schedule instead. gives me more time to flesh out these thinner chapters before i get them out to you, the viewer!
speaking of viewers, DAMN thank you guys for the warm ass welcome for this story! i’m so glad to see that people are enjoying my self-indulgent mess. i’ve had so much fun working on it by myself but i’m having even more fun now that i know other people like it!
hey, i’ll slap the text of this chapter below the cut so you don’t have to go off-site if you don’t feel like it. if you read, please consider reblogging, as that’s the best way for me to get this update out there :) otherwise, just like, have a good day and junk!
John is, unfortunately, still alive when Nick goes to check on him. He even seems to be aware of his surroundings, unsurprised when Nick opens the door and downright guarded as Nick approaches him with a plate of vegetables and some smoked venison. The role reversal doesn't sit right at all with Nick, but at least he knows he's in control of the situation for now. Give the bastard a couple of nights of good rest and John will no doubt attempt to get back on top, but tonight he's too sick to do anything but cringe away as Nick unceremoniously drops into a crouch and drops the plate in his general direction.
Tense, with his fingers twisting in the blanket below him, John rasps, "What's this?"
Nick frowns. "Food," he snaps, trying not to let his own rudeness bother him. He doesn't have to feel guilty being short with John — it's fucking John . Nick should be mad at himself for not being more of a dick! Being in a position that would earn a normal person sympathy doesn't mean squat when the guy is a murdering, violent psychopath wearing the thin veneer of a human being! He doesn't deserve anything Nick gives him, besides a swift and merciless kick to the temple.
Nick exhales heavily and reluctantly adds, "You look like you need it."
It's only once Nick rises to his feet again that John reaches for the plate, dragging it into his lap and proving Nick right as he quickly begins to inhale his food. It's alarming to watch John cramming jerky and vegetables into his mouth hand-over-fist, and despite himself he warns, "Slow down, you're gonna choke."
John stops eating like a switch has been flipped, dropping his hands to the plate as though he's been physically restrained. He doesn't say anything, just twists his fingers against the rim and stares at Nick's boots.
Okay.
This, uh. This is weird.
Nick feels his unease chewing at his nerves. "Well?" he snaps, trying to bluster his way through it.
"Well, what ?" John asks in return. There's an edge of annoyance in his voice, an old-world relic of John's normally nasty attitude, but it's not enough to reassure Nick.
"You know what. You're supposed to be dead . Rook put you down almost a decade ago, and I dunno if you noticed, but there's been a nuclear apocalypse since then. There's no way I'm putting you in your grave before you tell me how you got this far in the first place."
It's a lie, but the important part is that Nick sounds tough when he says it.
John clenches his jaw in response and finally meets Nick's glare with his own steely gaze. "They shot me," he says, his ragged voice still managing to scrape together enough attitude to sound vaguely condescending. He touches his gut, fingers prodding gently. "Then, the deputy left me for dead. I assume they returned to your welcoming arms."
Ugh, it is so fucking weird to hear John's passive-aggressive bullshit. Eight years apparently wasn't enough time for him to get over his nasty infatuation, if he's still bitter about Rook picking the Ryes over his own family.
"All of us were happy you were gone," Nick says, unwilling to indulge in John's creepy pity-lust for the deputy. "So, what then? How did you find that bunker? How'd you even know it was there ?"
John picks up a piece of jerky, bending it between his thumb and index finger. "It was my backup plan."
"What, in case the Cult backfired on you?" Nick scoffs loudly as John silently pops the piece of meat into his mouth. "I bet your brother would be real pleased to know you tried to weasel your way out of his prophecy."
John chews and swallows. "I doubt Joseph survived the Deputy at close range. I doubt I'll survive the second round myself. Where... is the Deputy, anyway? Shouldn't they be here casting down judgment, too?"
Nick sets his jaw. "I don't know," he says, folding his arms over his chest. "Nobody knows. They went to confront Joseph, but with all the Bliss in the air... I don't know. We lost track of them in the chaos. If they've had access to a radio, they haven't used it to contact anyone."
If John has any insight into what might've happened, he doesn't share it. He picks at a few pieces of carrot but it seems like he's lost his appetite again. "I see," he says, too pensively for someone who seems half out of their gourd.
"So, you survived being shot down, crawled into a hole with a gut full of buckshot, survived that , and then... what?"
"You saw what," John sighs. He looks tired — all this talking must be wearing him out. It's hard to believe John Seed is too weak to hold a conversation, considering how hard it used to be to get him to shut the fuck up. Nick tries not to spend too much time thinking about it.
"You want me to believe that you spent eight years just sitting there ?" Nick asks. The disbelief in his voice doesn't come close to the incredulity he's feeling. There's no way that John spent the last eight years in a quiet limbo. Hell, Nick's bunker life wouldn't make for riveting television or anything, but he still did more than exist . Even if he was on his own, John had to have some kind of — of backup backup plan, a plot to manipulate the nuclear apocalypse in his favor, something . Right?
"What do you want me to say? The bunker was lacking in entertainment. I was trapped alone, miles away from the Project, with nowhere near enough supplies. I was certain I would die before the first year was over, and from then on I assumed every day would somehow become my last. My being here is as much a surprise to you as it is to me."
He glances up, watching Nick's reaction with a wariness Nick isn't comfortable with. It's too much like a wounded dog, and John has to be playing some kind of angle to be using it.
"I had a radio, but no microphone," he says. "All I could do was listen."
Nick remembers what the radio channels were like for the first couple of months after the bombs dropped. Everyone going through every step of the grieving process over the world they'd known, screaming, begging, arguing, crying all the time. Lots of repentant Peggy idiots cursing Eden's Gate, even more innocent people sending out their last painful goodbyes. Kim would talk to them, sometimes, but for a while, it was safer to just leave the damned thing off.
"Eventually, the radio died," John mutters. "I thought it would be... better, somehow, being isolated. After all, that's how Joseph spoke to God, and I had a lot of questions that He might have answered."
"The last thing we need is another hallucinating prophet," Nick warns. He hopes John tries to sell him on some new-wave Josephism, though — he'd love to shoot the guy on principle and be done with everything. Boy, would that take a load of ethical weight off his back!
John's lips tighten wryly. "Apparently I don't possess the same qualities that made Joseph such an inviting disciple," he says. "I was alone. For... seven years, eight months, three days. Give or take."
"You keep a calendar down there?" Nick snaps, as if he and Kim hadn't quickly sorted time out themselves.
"I did," John replies, somewhat smugly. "Long enough to know when I ran out of supplies, at least. After that, it wasn't long before I had to leave the bunker. I couldn't... I couldn't take it anymore."
Nick waits for John to continue, but he doesn't. There must be more to it than that, Nick's sure of it, but John doesn't seem capable of handling the conversation.
John drops his line of sight to the pistol holstered at Nick's hip. He seems to be waiting for something.
"What happens now?" he asks, once whatever he's waiting for fails to happen. No doubt he expects Nick to brandish the gun in his face, to intimidate him or threaten him or... whatever. Shoot him, probably, because not even John Seed would be stupid enough to give himself clemency for all his crimes.
"Now?" Nick repeats. "Well, I guess that depends on you." He crouches down once more, sure that he's well out of John's grasp as he does so. He wants John to look him in the eye. "See, it's been a while, but I still really fuckin' hate you. After everything you've done, to me, my family, my home ... Honestly, I should've probably put you down the moment I recognized you."
John meets Nick's hard glare with the resolve of a condemned man. "Why didn't you?" he asks.
"Because I haven't had to kill anybody in nearly a decade, and y'know, I'd like to keep that streak." Nick jabs a finger at John, inwardly pleased when he recoils to avoid contact. " You're the one who came to Hope County looking for a fight. So I'm not gonna kill you. Not yet."
Nick figures he sounds pretty intimidating, but John doesn't seem moved by the indirect threat. Of course he isn't. The guy built half a religious movement out of his sadomasochism — he's not going to feel threatened by Nick, not even if he were holding a pair of pliers to his teeth. He doesn't even give Nick the satisfaction of asking what he means — he only stares and waits for Nick to hand down his sentence.
"First, we gotta see if you're gonna make it through the night," Nick says, gesturing towards the abandoned plate. "After that, I'm gonna put you to work. Kim and I, we got a list of things we need to get done. It's back-breaking manual labor, and you're gonna be the one whose back breaks." Nick rises to his feet, trying to seem tough when in reality, his knees are starting to ache, and he can't afford to throw one out over a show of force. "You do what you're told with no back-talking, and I guess we'll find a way to keep you fed."
"And if I don't?"
"I don't think you're in any position to refuse, jackass. Nobody else is going to think twice about shooting you around here. The cult, your followers, family, they're all dead and gone. Anyone left who knows your face is gonna want to smash it to bits, and they aren't going to be inclined to be as generous as Kim and I are being. So it's either this, or I throw you back in that bunker where you belong."
For a moment, Nick thinks that John might try to turn him down anyway. He hopes he does — it'd be nice to get to punch the guy without feeling guilty for hitting a seriously ill man. But John's pale face belies how desperate he is to avoid that bunker of his, and eventually he gives in with a slow, resigned nod.
"You're right," John replies, voice hoarse from exhaustion. "Joseph — the Project — it's all gone. And I..."
John trails off with a heavy, resigned sigh. He looks up at Nick through a thick clump of long, tangled hair that's fallen over his face. "I'm at your mercy," he finally says, dropping Nick's gaze immediately after as though he doesn't expect much mercy at all.
"What, that's it?" Nick asks, honestly fucking confounded at the lack of backtalk. He'd made a good argument, sure, but — what? "No arguing? No negotiating, no defending the cult? No trying to deflect blame?"
"What good would it do?" John replies. Despite everything, he manages to scrape together enough attitude to look unimpressed by Nick's entire deal. It's the first time since realizing John was alive that Nick feels a twinge of that old-fashioned irritation that used to make shooting John seem so appealing. "I have nothing. You've won, Nick. I hope you've been enjoying the prize."
"I ought to punch you," Nick snaps. "Lucky for you, I'd feel bad for giving you a beat-down in your sorry state." He nudges the plate with his boot, sliding it closer to John. "I'll be back with some water so you can clean yourself up. You stink enough to put me off my own dinner. Anything else, well..."
He gestures to the ratty, mildewy pile of junk that they've been collecting in the room, as if any of it could be useful. Broken picture frames, mouse-torn bedding, broken down cardboard boxes and more all piled innocently away in what was going to be Carmina's room. Looking at it fills Nick with a sense of profound sadness that he shoves right back down where it belongs.
"You can figure something out," he tells John, who doesn't seem capable of making another dig at Nick's new position as prison guard. Unwilling to be moved by John's labored breathing as he simply nods in return, Nick quickly about-faces, storming from the room with just enough anger to hide the retreat for what it is.
