Well, PP won the by-election for that seat in Alberta, despite him losing his previous one. While I saw that coming, I'm disappointed that he won 80% of the vote. I was hoping for him to get less than that. Come on, Alberta! You're better than that slimeball! Guess that means we have the joys of seeing that turd in the House of Commons again. Yay :/

Something that I've always wanted to see in a fic in the fandom, but haven't yet? Yuu being Jamil's accomplice in Scarabia.

Yuu has plenty of reason to do so depending on how you characterize them. Despite Kalim being nice and well liked, his family forced the Vipers to work for him whether they like or not and his father is implied to be an off screen villain. He is complacent in Jamil's suffering. If Jamil tells them this to pull on their heartstrings, Yuu could want to help him out to set Jamil free, even if it means stabbing Kalim in the back.

It would also make Jamil's plan a lot smarter. While he's one of my favs, it's kinda stupid and relies on Crowley forcing a duel, despite none of the staff being there. If he had Yuu on his side, he would have a helping hand to make Kalim look awful.

If you want to up the angst, have Yuu feel conflicted about this. After awhile, they run to get the Octanivelle Trio's help to save Jamil from himself.

The fact that I've never seen anyone go in that direction besides me and one of my friends in a TWST rewrite is astounding.

Did this with the proposed "porn ban bill" in the US, which is sitting at a 1% chance of ever happening months later if you are curious (x), here are a list of logical reasons why you shouldn't lose sleep over gay marriage being scrapped in the US for now:

What's happening is that the IRL version of Umbridge was a former county clerk known for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. She just placed a petition for the SC to hear this case. That's it. They haven't said if they would hear her case yet. They get thousands of petitions every year and they hear less than 100. Her chances of this making it through are pretty low.

This bitch has already tried this case in every court she could. All said no. She’s now trying to leapfrog the process and appeal directly to the SC, which isn’t how it works. They often toss out cases that haven't followed the proper legal channels.

She alleging that giving out marriage licences to gay people was a violation of her First Amendment Right, because of that going against her religious beliefs. That wouldn't apply to her. She was enacting her religious beliefs on private citizens as a public official, which would be a violation of that. That's why this was laughed out of every court she has ever went to. This SC still tries to appear like they are operating within legality, so they would less likely to look at this particular case to keep appearances.

Conservative judges Kavanaugh and Barrett stated that they're not interested in taking the case.

In fact, none of the judges seem too eager to take on this case besides Thomas and Alito.

History shows what happens when the far-right gets their way. The Republicans were slated to have a "red wave" during the 2022 mid terms. After Roe v Wade was axed, the Dems won the midterms instead. If overturned Obergefell v Hodges, they would lose the midterms and the 2028 election for sure, especially since a majority of Americans still support gay marriage. The Republicans don't want that. They would far more likely not look at it just to prevent their god king from losing the midterms.

Peter Thiel is gay. The Republicans wouldn't dare harm someone as powerful as him, especially since he's the one behind Vance and is one of their largest political donors.

Most important of all, this same woman took this case to the SC in 2019 and lost with two conservative judges voting with the Democrats in keeping the ruling. Since this is the same exact case as the last time, the outcome will be more than likely be the same. Hell, it makes it even less likely they will take up this case in the first place. Why tread over old ground?

I wouldn't lose sleep over this for now. It seems unlikely this method will go anywhere. This seems like a woman who is just stalling for time since she owes a hundred grand in legal damages.

However, it's possible for another idiot to come along and that would be what overturns it unless gay marriage is codified into law in the US, especially considering who's in charge now and the amount of religious groups there making taking that down as their life's mission. Here's a list of documents you should have ready if that does happen in the US, if you are in a same sex marriage. (x)
