LOOK AT THIS MAN’S EXPRESSION. Just- FRIGGIN LOOK AT IT. He’s blushing, he’s tense, he’s confused and flattered and weirded out, and happy- This man don’t know what emotions are and he just got hit by a truck full of them.

And AGAIN- KENDRA IS COMPLETELY INEBRIATED- She will most likely not even REMEMBER THIS MOMENT- Will Donnie tell her? Will this be a hilarious story that causes an argument later down the lines in their marriage?

WHO KNOWS. 🤷‍♀️ And it DOESN’T END THERE-

Not ONLY is Donnie flying through the five stages of grief like a boss level mini game- but Kendra, even in her drunken state, noticed that Donnie had that dumb makeup on him to cover up his markings for the party. And she just- gently- caresses his cheek to wipe it off.

Yeah, Donnie’s gonna die from either too much happiness or being way too flustered. Either way-

Despite being completely paralyzed in fear love, Donnie’s gaze quickly makes its way to where Big Mama and Frida are. And what does he see that gives him this horrified of an expression?

So, like the reasonable turtle mutant Donnie is, he gingerly picks up Kendra and leaves the party.

Also can we just study this anatomy for a second cause GUYS- as an artist myself this kind of posing and proportions is NOT EASY TO DO. So-

Ok, so after they make their way back to their room, Donnie plops Kendra into bed. We’ve seen this before- he’s never gentle, literally throwing her and it’s absolutely hilariou-

… Expectation SUBVERSION- the SWEETEST I’ve ever seen. 🥹 Donnie’s being so gentle with her what the HECK DJFUJWVXMISUDHWBSUW I adore these two- they love each other so much- caring for each other despite their qualms and history- AAAAAA ITS SO GOOOOOOD!!!

And now that Kendra is safe and away from Big Mamas prying eyes, Donnie has time to ABSOLUTELY FREAK OUT.

THIS DUDE went from feeling nothing to feeling EVERYTHING. And we get to watch and die laughing at his expense~ *WHEEEEEEZE*

Alright- with emotions and feelings and imagination WAY TOO HIGH, Donnie tries to distract himself.

The comedy in this chapter is just top tier~ I was at work when I read it the first time, and I broke out laughing and wheezing. (So grateful I work alone HA)

And just when Donnie thinks he’s in the clear-

*Chaos Gremlin chortling sounds* Coko, you absolute GENIUS- HAHAHAHA- I love that you simply allow the audience to imagine what Donnie saw- No one needs to outright say it, we all just know. And it’s utterly hilarious.

Donnie’s never gonna recover from that brain poof- You can just see all of his brain cells and bad boy image DISSOLVE in an instant at such a sight. 🤣 HIS HAIR EVEN CURLED UP- HIS EYES ARE BUGGING OUT- HAHAHA THIS DUDE’S brain went from dead to running a marathon in a MILLISECOND.

honestly it went really well anyways. we investigated genla's apartment n found out HER BACKSTORYYYYYYYYYY from piecing together her notes n journals (w great investigation rollssss) plus really really cool lore stuff re augmentium, the abyss, and the exact nature of the connection to the prime plane, aannnddd what needs to be done to stop it :3 :3

THE MANACLE ISNT SOMETHING, LIKE, BINDING HER, ITS THE ACTUAL LITERAL TETHER OF AUGMENTIUM'S LAYER OF THE ABYSS TO THE MATERIAL PLANE ITSELF

thats what she meant when she said she 'became the gateway'.... and now roots has it.

she found the manacle in a chamber with abyssal script on the walls during an archeological trip for uni, and it latched onto her. afterwards she started excelling in magic non-suspiciously and used it to get STUNNING uni grades and scholarships. and. um. im realising that this will actually take me forever to type

WELL! she starts getting the augmentium dreams, a massive figure slowly approaching across a void towards the crumbling city etc. and then she starts talking to him. and surely hes niceys :))) promising many good things!!! magical theory! growing!! flourishing!

at the same time, she starts translating the abyssal found on the walls of the chamber. she learns the name augmentium, and slowly discovers the story of a group of sun elves that long ago gave themselves to augmentium, selling their being for growth, prosperity, magical advancement, change. They created the chain to anchor his plane to ours, and nothing in existence has the ability to destroy it except for what it was created from- the bloodline of that group of sun elves. so augmentium slaughtered them.

That crumbling city that we see in those dreams? Thats where those elves lived. He made that city a ruin.

and now, there is only one remaining elf from that bloodline. Ivan Inferla

HE'S the benefactor that genla talked about. the 'one guy who can destroy the demon portal but will only do so in exchange for the results of arolin gray's research'

and IN his defense. he would have had no way of knowing that gray was experimenting on children. we also discussed the implications of the planes drifting away from us/magic fading away from the world. stuff like rotscale would become more common as magical species lose, well, magic. all magical creatures r screwed and in a couple millenias time, anything but like, humans and halflings would probably go extinct. my theory here is that if Ivan knew that the abyssal tether was a Guarantee of magic remaining and increasing in the world, he wouldn't sever willingly that unless he also had a guarantee that the world could still remain magical (even if it was a form of magic that will ummm consume the world and cause the actual apocalypse). and the sort of increase of magic in the world that he'd be looking for happens to be THE EXACT SORT OF THING THAT GRAY WAS STRIVING FOR (insert his freak ramblings of advancing humanity and returning to the days when dragonborn flew and elves lived for millenia (before he ran off and died of toxic smoke inhalation in a burning building) here)

we did a bunch of roleplay after that too but yeah :D that was the bulk of the lore reveal i think!!!

the dnd session was beyond harrowing but at the very least i have one less thing to be worried about than the rest of the party bc i got to say some cryptic stuff with massive implications and not elaborate before everyone got attacked by demons. so now the rest of the group is left to wonder what the hell henry jacks meant when he said "do you know where henry jacks is" whereas i already know what i was on about . all i have to grapple with is. ........... ........... everything else

I've decided the only reason Lloyd, known descendant of dragons, didn't tell this to Egalt, who refuses to train non-dragons, is for the same reason he never mentioned he's the First Spinjitsu Master's grandson. It just never came up. Nobody asked him directly about it. And besides, he's only like, one-fourth dragon, so does it really count? He doesn't look like a dragon, and he has never in his life considered himself a dragon. Mentioning his ancestry to Egalt probably would've just made him look like some hotshot, or make him more annoyed. There's no need to bring up such a silly little fact. He's sure it won't be important later.

Something I really especially love about btas is that every character is just… a human. Batman doesn't just show up and incapacitate 30 people no issue, he has to fight and brawl with just 1 or 2 henchmen. He can be taken out by hits and poisons and such. The rogues have to surrender when the cops get guns to their faces, and can be overpowered even by normal people. Joker isn't some pure evil incarnation of the Devil or whatever, he's just… a really bad man. Same for every other villain and character. And Bruce actually gets to show personality and emotion beyond Brooking and Grunting. He makes jokes and laughs and gets sad.

I'm really getting to understand why people call this the best Batman adaptation.
