Mr Crawling and Narcoleptic!reader
A/N: *shakes you violently* OMG ANON YOU'RE A GENIUS you just made my day with this btw â ask and ye shall receive >:)) As for the condition I think you might be asking for a Narcoleptic reader or something of those lines but YEAH I can totally do that, here you go, mini oneshot for you đ«”đ»đ«”đ»
Summary: Mr Crawlingâs been noticing some weird behaviours from you lately for the past few days and itâs both funny and worrying, are you okay???
WARNING: This is set after the Blissful Love Life ending, if you donât want spoilers then keep scrolling!
Itâs been little over a few days now since you and Mr. Crawling escaped his world, and the two of you were perfectly settled together at your place. Mr. Crawling so farâs been pretty happy overall, getting to stay home with you in your world and has grown pretty attached to you. But, as of lately, heâs been noticing someâŠ'strange' behaviours from you.
You seemed to be more sluggish when moving around the house and sleepy, he even found you crashed in the bathroom, at your desk, and other places in the house. He found the sight to be cute but at the same time it was also getting a little worrisome.
Were humans always this sleepy?? Heâs never seen you this sleepy when the both of you were still in his world. Well, maybe he did a few times without realizing it, but he failed to pick up on it.
He even caught you mumbling incoherent things and twitching in your sleep while the two of you were cuddled up in bed. He thought you were hurting somewhere whenever he felt you quivering in his arms, which made him hug you tighter and run his fingers through your hair, trying to soothe you. It was another day done of hours of work when you came back home, had food, and shortly went to bed with Mr. Crawling following after you like a lost puppy. Considering how exhausted you were from work, you passed out in seconds the moment you flopped onto the bed.
Later in the night, Mr. Crawling was curled up under the covers, with you spooned in his arms, the bedroom completely pitch black with the curtains drawn closed and there was a comfortable silence that filled the room. His arms were wrapped securely around you in a comforting squeeze, he nuzzled his face into the back of your neck, inhaling your scent for a moment and he instinctively squeezed you a little tighter. Relishing in the warmth your body radiated...
The silence then was suddenly broken when he heard you mumbling things in a slurred tone, (unfortunately he picked up little words he could understand considering he still had a lot to learn with your language), and he could feel your muscles twitching once in awhile. Mr. Crawling however grew worried again, he lied there uncertain if he should try to wake you up or not. He didnât want you getting cranky or annoyed for waking you up, but this was really starting to bug him and he wanted to help.
Mr. Crawling began to shake you gently to rouse you from your slumber, but you werenât budging much, so he shook you a tad harder. âHuman? Wake?â He murmured quietly. It took him another few tries until you started to stir from your sleep and you shifted in his arms to your discomfort.
âMmn?⊠Mr. Crawling?âŠ.â You mumbled out quietly, your words sounding slurred in your half-asleep state.
Oh, good, youâre not mad. âHuman hurt? Why twitching in sleep?â Mr. Crawling questioned, his fingers curled into the fabric of your night shirt. âMe worry, me want to help.â
You shifted under the covers again and you turned over to face Mr. Crawling, stretching your legs in a sluggish manner and your muscles relaxed. âIâm okay bud, Iâm not hurt,âŠâ Your words trailed off for a moment, straining back another yawn and your fingers found their way into Mr. Crawlingâs hair, gently patting him. âItâs just my narcolepsy acting up, nothing to worry aboutâŠâ
Narcolepsy?
Of course the term sounded unfamiliar to Mr. Crawlingâs ears, âNarc-lep-see?âŠâ He repeated, confused. As you could feel yourself slowly slipping in and out of unconsciousness, you did your best to try and explain your condition to Mr. Crawling. Mr. Crawling failed grasp much of it (in complicating terms-wise), but he seemed to understand it was something that made you very sleepy throughout the day. He also had the look of disappointment when you mentioned it was incurable, surely it could be fixable. If Mr. Silvair was here he mightâve found a way!
Before Mr. Crawling could even ask more questions about it, you were now unresponsive and had drifted off to sleep. He couldnât be mad at you (not like he would anyways), he did abruptly wake you up after all. So he decided to keep quiet and save the rest of his questions for the morning, his arms fastened around you again and he rests his chin on the top of your head. Intently listening to your soft breathing and the dark noise of the bedroom that filled his ears. From this point on starting tomorrow, heâll do the best he can to help you outâŠ
#OMG YAY MY FIRST ASK FOR REQS#LETS GOOOOOOOOO#I hope this is to your liking anon đ#thiejfjsb Iâm not entirely sure if I portrayed narcolepsy right but I do apologize if itâs wrong#I did my best and I tried looking more into it before I did my writing lmao#this took awhile Iâm so sorry I was busy for a little gnskbdj#deadâs asks#deadâs writing#oneshot#homicipher#mr crawling x reader#mr crawling#gn reader#fluffies

so high school â ethan landry
ᥣđ© word count: 2,2k
ᥣđ© pairing: football player!ethan landry x tutor!fem!reader
ᥣđ© summary: ethan is smitten with his tutor and invites her to his game. at the after party, he decides to finally confess his feelings.
ᥣđ© content: tutor. football player. fluff. high school themes.
the radiant sunlight illuminated the side of y/nâs face, making her soft skin glow. ethan felt hypnotised, unable to look away or think about anything else other than how ethereal she looked. he should focus, the literature assignment was due soon and ethan still didnât comprehend any of aristotleâs ideas. but hell, how was he supposed to concentrate when his tutor was so captivating?
âethan landry if you donât start paying attention-â her poor attempt at pretending to be intimidating made him smile, she was so adorable.
âtoo much aristotle for today, letâs talk about something else.â ethan gave her his most charming smile.
âsince i started tutoring you two months ago youâve said that exact same sentenceâŠâ y/n made a deep thinking expression. âevery. single. session.â
âand you obligeâŠâ he copied her expression. âevery single sessionâ
âmaybe you need a tutor with a firmer hand.â she joked.
âhey, if you want to punish me for being a bad student, iâm all for it.â he smirked mischievously
âif you want it, then itâs not a punishment. also, is that a kink of yours?â y/n smirked.
ethan gasped, and covered his mouth in an overdramatic way. âwhat a scandalous question! whereâs the shy girl that walked into this very library two months ago?!â
y/n rolled her eyes and a small laugh escaped her mouth. âyouâve corrupted me.â
âletâs drive the conversation somewhere else. too many dirty jokes are going through my mind right now.â he shook his head. âletâs talk about tomorrowâs game.â
she cocked an eyebrow âwhat about it?â
âwell, are you going alone orâŠ?â he asked as if it were obvious
y/n laughed. âiâm not going with anyone.â
ethan tried his best to hide how relieved he was by that. âokay, cool. i can ask my sister to save a seat for you.â
âsorry, let me rephrase my sentence. iâm not going, period.â she said again.
ethan looked both betrayed and appalled as he exclaimed âbut itâs a very important game!â
âeth, i adore you but i truly donât care about football.â
butterflies fluttered all over his stomach at her words and his heart did cartwheels on his chest. âplease come to my game, y/n/n.â his big brown eyes were pleading and she was left defenseless.
puppy brown eyes were the strongest weapon ever created, and when they came with a face like ethanâs, there was no other option but to surrender.
âugh, fine! iâll go.â y/n groaned and ethan started cheering loudly, causing the librarian to shush him.
âsorry, maâam. she just gave me the best news ever and i got excited, iâll stay quiet now. iâm sorry to disturb you.â
the librarianâs angry expression turned soft and gave the football player a âdonât worryâ smile. well, at least y/n wasnât the only victim of his dangerous charm.
the worst thing was that he didnât even do it on purpose, he just naturally exuded sweetness and you could tell he didnât held a single malicious bone in his body.
y/nâs feelings towards him were so intense and overwhelming she didnât know what to do with them. especially with the big question hanging over in the airâafter she was done tutoring him, will he still acknowledge her?
âin all seriousness,â ethan started as they exited the library and made their way to his car âyou donât have to come to the game. i mean, i want you there but not at the expense of your comfort.â
god, he made her swoon. he was the sweetest guy she had ever met. y/n felt like she was back in high school, experimenting her first crush. âiâll be there, i swear.â
âscoutâs honor?â
âscoutâs honor.â she affirmed.
he smiled, satisfied. âneed a ride home?â he twirled the keys on his finger, and y/n didnât know why, but she found it insanely sexy.
âno, thanks. i feel like walking.â she smiled. âsee you tomorrow. break a leg.â
âleave my legs in peace, please. i kinda need them for the matchâ he said, making her laugh. heat spread through his body at the sound, ethan was so gone for her. âsee you tomorrow.â
and in an act of bravery, he crouched down and pressed a soft kiss on her cheek. both teenagers went home smiling as if they had won the lottery.
y/nâs hands trembled as she followed the mass of people wearing blackmoreâs football jersey. her reflects were quick enough to grab a seat near the field, and soon enough the benches were full.
she looked around the open space, seeing people talking animatedly with each other and socializing while she sat there alone, with her sweaty hands rubbing against the fabric of her emerald green jeans. she felt out of place, and the scene made her realize just how lonely she was. so immersed in getting good grades, sheâd forgotten to⊠live. to truly let herself enjoy college in all aspects.
the only friend she had made so far was because of tutoring. if it hadnât been because ethan was awful at literature, she would be friendless. so she sucked it up and locked away the urge to go back home. ethan wanted her there, and she didnât want to disappoint her only friend. if this was important to him, then the bench was were she needed to be at the moment.
a hand on her shoulder brought her out of her thoughts, and when she turned her head to the side, a bit startled, finding two green eyes and bright orange hair.
âsorry! didnât mean to scare you. y/n, right?â the gorgeous red-head asked.
shooting her eyebrows up in surprise, y/n nodded. âyes⊠do we know each other?â
âyes, well, no. weâve never met, but my brother talks about you non-stop.â she smiled sweetly. âiâm quinn.â
ethanâs sister, her brain screamed, and she tried to keep her cool âoh, hi. nice to meet you.â
âethan said, well, more like hoped, you were coming. he mentioned this was not your scene, so we saved you a seat with us so you wouldnât be alone.â
y/n blushed and her heart melted at the thoughtfulness. she didnât know who quinn meant by âweâ, but she was grateful nonetheless.
ethanâs friends greeted her like she was one of their own, and they mentioned countless times how ethan would talk their ears off about her.
âthereâs ethan!â tara told her, pointing at the tall man with the number 13 on his back.
ethan was always beautiful, but when he was in his element the word âbeautifulâ felt short. she couldnât find the words to explain just how mesmerizing ethan was in his football gear and with a cheshire cat smile on his tailored face.
the people in the stands cheered for the quarterback, and y/n joined in once the shyness faded away. then ethan caught her eye, and if he was glowing before that, now his joy was blinding.
he jogged towards her, wanting to talk to her before the game started. her heart beating faster and faster with every step he made. and when ethan reached her, they both stared at each other with love sick smiles and cheek pinks accentuated by the twinkling lights.
âyou came.â he said in a mix of relief and gratefulness
âof course i did, you wanted me here, didnât you?â
âmore than anything else.â he replied sweetly. but then the coach started to yell at him to get back to the field. âsorry, gotta go. but thank you for coming, iâll see you at the after partyâ
he ran back to his teammates, who greeted him with whistles and playful shoves which made ethan turn ever redder. but he didnât care about his friendsâ teasing, he was on cloud nine and he was determined to make this game the best heâs ever played. for y/n.
the stands of blackmore university erupted in cheers the second the board indicated the end of the final game of the season. the team lifted the star player of the game over their heads as they screamed in victory.
once his feet hit the floor again, ethan turned his head towards his people, to find them hugging each other enthusiastically. even y/n was embraced by his friends and that filled his heart with happiness.
âletâs go, captain. we gotta shower, then you can meet your girl.â
my girl, he replayed those words in his head. yes, that sounded just right, and he only hoped y/n agreed.
it was a little over an hour later when the team finally arrived at the party, greeted with applauses and pats on the back. the quarterbackâs brown eyes scanned the crowded room, wanting to find the person he had been longing for two months exactly. he was going to do it. tonight, he was pouring his heart out.
âwoah!â the boy exclaimed at the same time a familiar voice said âsorryâ. they both smiled instantly when they realized theyâd bumped into each other. âhi!â they said, and then laughed.
âyou were amazing, ethan! my heart suffered a lot every time you were tackled, but it was quite a match.â
âthanks, y/n. iâm really happy you were there, wasnât sure youâd show up.â
âyou know i could never say no to you, ethan.â she said softly
ethan flushed and felt the courage rushing through his veins ây/n iâve been meaning to tell you⊠i know we only met two months ago but-â
âethan! the man of the hour. great game, bro!â one of his classmates interrupted, and just like that the moment was lost.
âthanks, bro.â ethan forced a smile. then took a quick look at y/n, who was standing awkwardly. âif you excuse me, weâre going to get some fresh air.â the classmate nodded and left, leaving the two of them alone again. but the courage had vanished as well as the little speech ethan had in mind. âiâm sorry about that.â
âhey, no. i get it.â she seemed sincere so ethan relaxed a bit. âwhat were you saying?â she asked
ethan shook his head. âi donât want to get interrupted again, letâs go outside.â
but just when they thought they could sneak out, one of his teammates caught sight of him and yelled his name, causing the attention to fall on them.
ethan sighed in frustration, but dragged his feet towards the circle of people nonetheless, he was too good to say no. maybe that was one of his flaws.
"join us, landry" chad said
ethan and y/n sat and the boy shoot her an apologetic smile. in response, she sneakily placed her hand above his and squeezed in reasurance. "what were you doing?" ethan asked the group
"marry, kiss or kill." one of the cheerleaders answered. y/n definitely didn't like the way she smiled all flirty at ethan. "lucy, your tutor and me."
wow, dignity left the chat, y/n thought as a wave of embarrassment rushed through her body.
"where are we? in high school?" ethan rolled his eyes. "i'm not answering."
"come on, it's just a game" the blond insisted
"let's play something else" chad intervened, trying to save his friend.
"guess he didn't want to hurt his tutor's feelings" one of the cheerleaders said not to discreetly, and her friends giggled.
now y/n remembered why this wasn't her scene.
"let's play spin the bottle!" she heard tara said, but y/n was trying really hard not to show how the words had hurt. was it so crazy to think ethan could see her as more than his tutor or friend?
on the other hand, ethan was not going to let those girls humiliate y/n. besides, he wasn't ashamed to show how down bad he was for her. "you guys play, y/n and i are going outside. we have some things to talk about." ethan said with a suggestive smirk and chad whistled, making y/n's cheeks turn a deep shade of pink. she couldn't lie and say the glares she didn't feel satisfied at the glares the cheerleader threw her when ethan entwined their fingers.
"fucking finally" he said contently, sitting in a hammock. "been wanting to get you alone since i saw you standing in that bench."
she pressed her lips together, trying not to smile too wide "well, i was enjoying the view there."
"oh, yeah? what view?"
"football players in their uniforms"
ethan frown in displeasure "players? the 's' should be left out"
"it wouldn't be grammatically correct then." she teased
"hmm" he clenched his jaw
y/n laughed "i'm just messing with you, idiot." then took a deep breath before admitting, "i only have eyes for you, ever since i walked into that library two months ago, there's only been you."
he smiled like the love sick puppy y/n had turned him into and leaned down until the tip of their noses brushed. "i have been pretty obvious, but i want to be clear--i'm crazy about you. knew i wanted you since the very first day. be my girlfriend, y/n/n."
her eyes shone like fireworks. "yes, yes, yes."
"woah, okay, someone's eager." ethan teased her
"shut the fuck up."
"this is the part where i say 'make me', right? and then you kiss the fuck out of me."
"god, you're insufferable. you're lucky i like you so damn much."
"i like you, too. please put me out of my misery and kiss me." he pouted adorably.
"first you gotta answer the question"
"what?" he asked confused
"are you going to marry, kiss or kill me, landry?" she smiled
"i'm betting on all three for us two, y/n." he said, and finished melting her heart.

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Do you take rec requests? If so, can I ask for your recs for Obi Wan centric fics where Obi Wan is just absolutely adored by everyone around him? Like people love him, think he's great, beautiful, talented, etc. you could also include fics where Anakin isn't one of his adoring fans but he comes around eventually. If you've ever read the Shoulder The Sky series by @kcrabb88 ? Where Anakin is kind of weird about Obi Wan in the beginning but he'd die for him at the end? Yeah like that.
Preferably no Obitine please, and also no order 66, if you would. They can be fix its or maybe they just don't get to order 66 in canon. Long and short is fine. I just want to read fic to justify my absolute rabidity over Obi Wan Kenobi.
Yknow if you're going to answer the ask? Might as well include every fic that you know that portrays Obi Wan very well. Whether everyone thinks so or not, I just want an excuse to fangirl over Obi Wan. Whether it's cute adorable initiate obi wan; smart skilled Padawan Kenobi, best master in the galaxy Kenobi, best general in the gar Kenobi, unfuckwithable Kenobi that everyone knows not to piss off, the Jedi's best member, whatever. Just fics of obi wan being great, whether people acknowledge it and love him, or acknowledge it and go still like prey animals when he looks at them
Hi! Oh, this is going to be a bit of a difficult set, mostly because avoiding Order 66 is a tough one, and I'm not sure how you are with various Obi-Wan pairings (which tend to have some good Obi-Wan fic), but I can at least start you out with a few recs sets I've done that have a lot of Obi-Wan fic and hopefully the Order 66 fic will be pretty avoidable.
My Star Wars fic recs tag (pretty much anything that mentions Obi-Wan in the subject will treat him well)
Obi-Wan Kenobi epic fic
Post-OBW's first two episodes-centric set
It's hard because some of my favorites:
Reprise by Elfpen (absolutely epic time travel fic that does the really good, hard work of showing us the timeline shifting and why it has to be done in baby steps)
Fire and Ice by Yesac (set in an AU where Order 66 happened, but Anakin won the fight and took both Obi-Wan and Padme hostage, and it's about the incredibly long road to recovery from there, which does have some love = attachment minor, minor notes, but has an Obi-Wan characterization that was fundamental to how I see the character)
Aren't necessarily about Order 66, but it does happen in both those fics, as something that's either being avoided or fixing the aftermath of them, and I'm not sure where you stand on such things, since you don't want Order 66. Same for
The Desert Storm by Blue_Sunshine (time travel AU where Order 66 happened in Ben's timeline, but not in the one the fic is set during)
Knightrise by deviantaccumulation (this one includes Order 66 happening on-screen, but it's an AU where more Jedi survive and they go into hiding together to rebuild)
where it's time travel to fix things, is that still over your line? Is it about the other characters that love Obi-Wan or the narrative of the story that loves Obi-Wan, because that would change a lot of the recs I make! Not that he's unloved in them, but Cataclasm by dendral is one of my favorites, but it has Obi-Wan off on his own a lot of the time, so the narrative loves him, but the people around him aren't in the room with him, etc. I also have a Jedi culture set of recs, which you can scroll through to find Obi-Wan mentioned in the summary, it's probably going to be about how much everyone loves him. But some good places to start for you would be:
ruth baulding's Lineage series and then her Legacy series. The first series is an epic length run of adventures when Obi-Wan was a padawan with Qui-Gon, and then the second series is his time teaching Anakin, with more adventures
Remedial Jedi Theology by MarbleGlove, a fantastic look at Jedi theology, philosophy, and interaction, with Obi-Wan in a prominent role.
Supreme Chancellor Obi-Wan Kenobi stonefreeak, which is crack treated seriously, very Jedi-positive, and while it's an ensemble piece overall, Obi-Wan is very much at the heart of the story and the focus will always come back to him. Just so much fun and very soft on the heart, this is a universe where everything goes right.
Tano and Kenobi by FireflyFish, which is a time travel fic where Ahsoka goes back into the past and becomes Padawan Obi-Wan's Master instead of Qui-Gon. The fic is kind of harsh on Qui-Gon, but if you love the disaster lineage or if you just want more Obi-Wan & Ahsoka, this fic will scratch the itch so good.
Unexpected Awakening (The Rewrite) Rhiw, another time travel fic where Order 66 did happen, but the fic is about Legends!Obi-Wan taking a different path from what happened in the first Jedi Apprentice book, instead of becoming Qui-Gon's Padawan the way he did in canon, he and Bruck go to Bandomeer and then get wrapped up in an epic story about Obi-Wan slowly changing the galaxy's course.
walk by faith/tell no one what you've seen by Killbothtwins, which is time travel with Obi-Wan after the end of the galactic civil war (the one against the Empire) going back to his 12 year old self and diverting the timeline, with a really great voice for Obi-Wan's character in this fic.
The Uses of a Sandwich by Laura Kaye (laurakaye) is a fun young Padawan Obi-Wan fic where he meets Qui-Gon's first apprentice and has a great sense of comedy.
Uncle Ben and Little Luke by phoenixyfriend which is de-aged!Luke and suddenly alive again!Obi-Wan and is just so much fun for a dynamic that doesn't get enough fic. (NEVER ENOUGH.)
Well Met by avocadomoon is one if you don't mind Obi-Wan/Padme fic, where they develop a friendship and later in life just slowly fall into a relationship, where it's about discussions and politics and philosophy and worldbuilding, it's such a subtle dynamic between them in a way that felt so natural to me. I also enjoyed the author's other fic Anamorphosis just as much, too.

Introducing the Tartaros Devils to Your Plushies
The Tartaros Devils deciding to show up to your room for sex end up getting met with you deciding to sit down and show them all your plushies!!
Notes: mildly sexual content, nothing too crazy. Gender neutral reader!
Find Mammon's and others reactions here !
Bimet
He doesn't exactly see the appeal. They clearly weren't anything expensive. Just cheap stuffed creatures. What they could they possibly offer that he couldn't offer tenfold and then some?
Don't clock him on being jealous because you cherish your plushies so deeply, or do clock him on it if you wanna work him up even worse.
He glares your plushies are you introduce them. Not only are they taking up his valuable time that he was meant to spend sleeping with you, they're taking up your attention too. And they aren't even a valuable object!! At least in his eyes.
He voices his thoughts, he can't help himself. Call him out. Tease him a little. It's fine, Mammon would do the same.
Unfortunately unlike with Mammon he can and will cut you off. With a kiss or pushing you against the wall or something else along those lines.
Point is you can call it out but it changes nothing. Bimet still gets what he wants in the end. Just tease him more afterwards it's fine.
Yeah, he's not really taking in. Well. Any information about your plushies but it's fine! You can always just repeat the lesson later!
Valefor
Well, aren't you just the cutest little thing for him? Absolutely adorable.
He can't help but entertain this. He'll let you ramble on for as long as you want.
Of course, there is something in it for him. And he does make this clear to you from go.
The longer you keep talking for, the longer he gets to fuck you for. The times are definitely not equal to the amount of length you end up talking for, he's just making up shit as he goes along.
You know this, but what are you gonna do? Protest? Good luck that's gonna add more time for him !
That being said he's also making it worse by squishing your cheeks while you're talking, but he just can't help himself!
Either way, he knows this is gonna end in sex. And you also know this is gonna end in sex. Prepare to be completely exhausted and ready to pass out by the time he's done with you.
That being said, he definitely memorized everything you tell him about your plushies. Of course he'd do that for you.
Eligos
On one hand, he loves how excited you are and how cute you look while rambling on about your plushies. It makes him so so happy to see how happy you are!!!
On the other hand, he's supposed to be the cutest thing in this room and supposed to be getting all the attention. What the hell.
Why is your focus not entirely on him and instead these plush objects you adore so much?
He gets pouty and kinda jealous pretty fast! I can't even lie. He will require your attention soon.
Because of the way he is, he's not exactly memorizing a lot of what you tell him, but he is happy that you have something you love so much.
However, you also need to love him that much!! So you better get ready to focus all your attention on him!!!
Suddenly he remembers the exact reason why he came to you, and he will be getting the attention he craves so much after all.

And yet, you're here
Pairing: Geto x fem!reader
Word Count: 2,8k
Synopsis: Years after Suguru left, you're still not able to get him off your mind. When he reappears years after his betrayal, the past collides with the present. Unexpected, in a way you didn't even dare to dream about.
Warnings: this isn't proofread 100%, the emotional rollercoaster you deserve, hurt to comfort big time, this is for all my geto girlies who deserve their happy ending
please please please make this go viral thank you
âHeâs a threat for the whole population!â
âWe need to kill that brat before he kills all non-sorcerers.â
âI canât believe someone like him was able to do something likeâŠthat.â
âSo much wasted potential. Why does a special grade sorcerer act this way?â
âI thought heâs a nice boy.â
âSo, youâre not one of those nice guys I guess.â
The sun already hung so low in the sky that you were barely able to see his soft features, let alone the surprised look that crept over his face while hearing those words coming from your mouth.
âAre you talking about me or Satoru?â
You let out one of those cute chuckles he adored so much, the kind he heard in his head on repeat even when you were long gone. Gosh, he couldnât get enough of this. Those lonely nights with only you and a cigarette by his side, the countless hours he spent trying to understand you while it was his mind that slowly but surely fell apart.
âNope, Iâm always talking about you, Suguru.â
âWhat am I if not a nice guy, then?â
Sure, Satoru Gojo was his one and only best friend, but you were something else entirely: An unspoken bond that lived in the spaces between words, in glances that lingered just a moment too long. You werenât a lover, not in the conventional sense, but you werenât just a friend either. You were a mirror to his soul, the keeper of truths he couldn't bear to speak aloud, and the only person who could hold the weight of his silence without it breaking you both.
âYouâre... complicated,â you finally replied, the word laced with warmth rather than judgment.
âYouâre the kind of person who feels too much but hides it too well. The kind who would burn the world down if it meant saving the people you love. Not everyone understands that, but I do. Or at least Iâm convinced I do.â
Suguruâs lips twitched into a faint smile, more melancholic than amused.
ïżœïżœComplicated, huh? Thatâs one way to put it.â
âAnd dangerous,â you added lightly, the hint of a smile in your voice.
âBut not in the way they think. Not to me.â
His expression softened, the darkness in his eyes easing for just a moment as he stared at you.
âNot to you,â he echoed, as though testing the words on his tongue, letting them sink into the cracks of his fraying soul.
Till this day, that one last conversation both of you had on that lonely bench still haunts him. The way you looked at him back then, as if youâd already knew that you might never see him again, as if you just counted the hours until he goes berserk.
What are you thinking about him now?
Is he still on your mind?
Are you hating him the way Satoru does?
âYouâre thinking about her again, donât you?â
Fuck. He thought about you.
Again.
Suguru lets out a sharp exhale, the sound halfway between a sigh and a laugh, bitter enough to sting his own ears. How pathetic he has to look to the people surrounding him. When he walked down this path, he knew that heâll have to do it without you, that he wonât be able to see you again. And yetâŠ
Losing you seems to hurt more than anything else.
âOf course I am,â he admits to his assistant, his voice low and rough like gravel underfoot.
âNot like I can help it. Sheâs everywhere, even when sheâs not. Itâs ridiculous.â
There it is again, your face ghosting through his mind. Other than Satoru and Shoko, you never really tried to find him. If you wanted to, you would, right? Maybe youâre too mad at him for all the things heâs done. Or maybe you already forgot about him.
âBut it doesnât matter, does it? Sheâs gone. Just like everything else.â
For a moment, he closes his eyes, trying to drown out the memories, the sound of your laugh, the way your voice softened when you said his name, the weight of your eyes on him as if you could see through all the lies he told himself. Heâd burn every memory if he could, let them smolder in the same fire that consumed the rest of his life.
âBesides. Sheâd hate me now, just like everyone else. Maybe she was just waiting for me to turn into the monster she saw coming.â
âStop stewing in these thoughts, that doesnât matter anymore. Weâre expecting another bunch of monkeys in half an hour.â
But even as she said it, the words tasted wrong. It shouldnât matter that he can still feel the warmth of your gaze, your unwavering belief in him, and yet it cuts deeper than any accusation ever could. Suguru shakes his head while straightening his shoulders, eyes locked onto Manami in front of him in order to force you off his mind.
âDoesnât matter,â he repeats, his voice barely above a whisper, as though trying to convince himself.
âItâs too late for that now. So, whereâs the monkeys?â
âWhy did I know Iâd find you here?â
His voice startles you, making you jump slightly. You turn to see none other than Satoru Gojo standing there, hands in his pockets, his white hair catching the fading sunlight. The sunglasses perched on his nose donât quite hide the sharp edge in his expression he usually wears around you.
âBecause Iâm always here, I guess,â you reply softly, your tone as tired as the circles under your eyes appear.
âAnd I told you to stop a long time ago,â Satoru bites back, his voice bitter, cutting.
âThe Suguru you knew⊠heâs gone.â
The weight of his words lands hard, though theyâre not new. Heâs said them before, with the same venom in his voice, every time you bring up Suguru or the past.
âI know. Iâve always known.â
âThen why do you keep punishing yourself? Dropping out of Jujutsu High when everyone needed you didnât bring him back. Hiding out here doesnât change anything, yâknow?â
âIt wasnât about bringing him back, Satoru,â you snap, your voice sharper than you intend.
âIt was about⊠letting him go. You wouldnât understand.â
âTry me,â he challenges, stepping closer.
âIâve spent years watching people destroy themselves over things they canât fix. I know the look in your eyes - you miss him. You always have. But you didnât even try to stop him when he turned his back on us.â
You flinch, his words hitting a nerve.
âBecause it wasnât my place. I wasnât like you, Gojo. I wasnât his best friend. I wasnât strong enough to drag him back kicking and screaming or to stand in his way. All I could do was⊠let him live the way he decided to. I thought⊠maybe if I stayed behind, if I didnât follow him, heâd understand that I believed in him, that I trust him and his actions, the path he chooses. That Iâd be here if he ever wanted to come back.â
Satoruâs shoulders tense, his jaw tightening. He never understood. Until this day, he never wrapped his head around the fact that you didnât try to stop his best friend back then. You, who had more power over Suguru than himself.
God, how much he hates that disgusting truth until now.
âAnd look where that got you,â he mutters.
You look away, your hands gripping the edge of the bench for support.
âI never expected to see him again, Satoru. I didnât think Iâd matter enough to him for that.â
The silence between you stretches thin, brittle as glass.
âDo you think he hates me?â you ask, your voice barely audible.
âFor staying behind? For not going after him?â
Gojo doesnât answer, which is answer enough. You know he blames you, at least a little, for what happened. For not doing more. For leaving everything to him. For allowing Suguru to turn his back on Jujutsu High.
âSuguru hating you? Never. I bet he still thinks about you every damn dayâ, Satoru mutters under his breath before turning on his heels and leaving you standing in the rain.
Suguru, still thinking about you? You shake your head vehemently, not allowing that absurd thought into your brain. If he would miss you, heâd visit you, right? In all those years, he never lifted a finger in order to find you.
You were right there. In your small apartment, at jujutsu high.
Maybe he forgot about you after all.
âMe? Forgetting you? Iâd never be able to do that, (y/n).â
Maybe some promises are meant to be broken.
-a few evenings later-
Youâve drank too much.
You always do when Shoko isnât with you, when no oneâs around to watch you. But even though you emptied a whole bottle of liqueur on your own, you still arenât able to forget him. Fuck, his face is glued onto your mind like a second skin, never leaves you even though you drink enough to forget your own name.
Will it always feel like this? Will that ache ever go away?
âWhat are you thinking about, handsome?â
âSomething Iâve lost some while agoâ, you mumble, absently swirling your glittery cocktail around.
âThatâs a bummer.â
You donât even gift the random stranger next to you a look, the guy who smells like cheap cigarettes so vehemently that you feel like throwing up.
Maybe itâs time to call it a day.
âYeah. Whatever.â
You spring back onto your feet, the alcohol vibrating through your veins. You were never much of a drinker back then, only shared a cigarette with Suguru from time to time. But this became your only way to numb the pain. At least for a few hours, at least for some time.
The cold air of the night hits your face like a wall. Even though itâs far past midnight, the city buzzes in street light, laughter and cries. And yet, all youâre able to think about is him again. His laugh, his voice, the way he used to look at you when he thought no one else was watching. Is it wrong to long for him? Is it disgusting that you couldnât care less about the things heâs done those past years, about what heâd become?
You shake your head, trying to dispel the thoughts, but they cling to you, stubborn and relentless. Why canât you just stop? Stop longing for something that will never happen, stop running after a person who is long gone? Suguru wonât come back, you wonât just meet him on a random street-
The click of footsteps catches your attention. Heavy, yet elegant footsteps across the still busy street.
At first, you think itâs just another stranger wandering through the cityâs darkened streets. But something about the rhythm - steady, purposeful - sets your nerves on edge. Something about this feels familiar.
You glance up, your heart skipping a beat as your gaze meets a pair of familiar dark brown eyes.
Suguru Geto.
The world around you blurs, the sounds of the city fading into silence. Itâs him, unmistakably him. His hair is longer than you remember, strands sticking to his face from what looks like rain, or maybe itâs sweat. Blood splatters ruin his clothes and the sharp line of his jaw, painting a stark, gruesome picture paired with those cold orbs. His expression is unreadable, but his eyes⊠theyâre searching, watching your every move.
You should run, or scream, or yell at him â at least something that shows him what he put you through.
Anything.
Heâs the same man who left you, who walked away from everything, from you. He, who didnât even tell you about his true feelings, who didnât care about the consequences of his actions, who didnât even ask you to join. All those miserable nights you imagined him sitting next to you on that bench, the bottles of alcohol youâve drank just to forget his name. He needs to pay for it, needs to know what he did to you by leaving you behind.
But instead, your feet move of their own accord, closing the distance between you in an instant.
Before he can react, you throw your arms around him so, pulling him into a tight embrace.
Suguru freezes, his body stiff against yours. He doesnât move, doesnât speak, as if the sheer force of your presence has left him powerless. You bury your face against his chest, not caring about the blood, the grime, or the hurricane of questions swirling in your mind. All you care about is the fact that heâs here, alive, and solid beneath your touch. You can feel him â not only in your dreams, but for real.
Suguru is here.
Heâs alive.
Heâs right between your arms.
The scent of him - familiar, though tinged with something darker - fills your senses, dragging you back into a world you thought youâd never touch again. Tears sting your eyes, but you bite them back, unwilling to let them fall.
âSuguru,â you whisper, your voice trembling.
Finally, he moves. His arms lift hesitantly, then wrap around you with a force that knocks the air out of your lungs. He holds you like heâs afraid youâll disappear any given minute, his grip firm and desperate. His head dips slightly, and for a moment, you think you feel him trembling too.
âWhat are you doing?â
His voice is rough, low, almost broken.
âI donât know,â you admit, your voice muffled against his chest.
âI just⊠I missed you.â
He pulls back just enough to look at you, his dark eyes scanning your face as if trying to memorize every detail.
âYou shouldnât be here,â he mutters, his tone a mixture of regret and warning.
âNeither should you,â you counter, your gaze unwavering.
Suguruâs lips twitch, almost forming a smile, but it doesnât reach his eyes. He lifts a hand, his fingers brushing against your cheek as though testing if youâre real.
âYou should hate me.â
âMaybe I should,â you reply, your voice steady despite the storm raging inside you.
God, youâre so furious at him. Mad because he ran away, mad because he left you standing in the rain.
Mad because this is actually the first time Suguru Geto hugged you.
âBut I donât. I guess I could never hate you.â
His expression falters, the mask heâs worn for so long cracking just enough to reveal the man beneath. The one you knew, the one you loved in a way you never fully understood. And for the first time since leaving everything behind, he feels that small ray of sunshine taking in his heart again.
âYou donât know what Iâve done, what Iâve become. I was so sure youâll hate me like everyone else.â
âI know enough. And I donât care. Youâre still Suguru Geto, arenât you?â
He exhales sharply, the sound almost like a laugh, though thereâs no humor in it. You, not caring about the fact that he ended countless lives out of his own fulfilment? You, a jujutsu sorcerer who always protected those monkeys?
âYouâre too good for this,â he bites back, shaking his head.
âToo good for me.â
âDonât decide that for me,â you snap, surprising even yourself with your suddenly so sharp tone.
âYou donât get to make that choice. You already did when you left without saying goodbyeâ
The silence between you stretches, heavy with unspoken words. Youâre right and he knows it. But⊠Was it really a possibility to take you with him back then? Was there a tiny chance that youâŠwould have joined him?
Slowly, he leans his forehead against yours, his eyes closing as though seeking comfort in your presence. No, he doesnât want to think this through. Not right now. Not when he feels your heart pound against his body, not when youâre this close to him for the very first time.
âI thought Iâd never see you again,â he admits, his voice barely a whisper.
âI told myself it was better that way.â
âAnd yet youâre here,â you point out softly.
âAnd yet Iâm here,â he echoes, his lips curving into a faint, bitter smile.
For a moment, itâs just the two of you. No blood, no curses, no jujutsu, no past or future. Just the weight of the present, fragile and fleeting. And for now, thatâs enough.
For now, simply holding the man you thought youâve lost forever on a random street is more than enough to make you feel whole again.

Midnight kitchen
The foyer of his house smelled appetizing the familiar sounds of frying pans and the soup boiling made his mouth water after a long day of business affairs he clearly anticipated of whatâs being made. Sylus sees her standing in the kitchen eyes completely focused as she chops some green onions using her favorite wooden chopping board he secretly smiled to himself as it gave him pleasure that she uses one of his gifts.
One of the favorite things about this pretty little chef of his is that she cleans as she goes he appreciated the fact that the area she worked at not a mess was in sight and the sink was almost dish-free. He adored the way she was organized without burning a single meal and how sheâs meticulously careful with sharp objects.
He made his presence known by clearing his throat as she was now stirring the pot on the stove.
She looked up at his gaze and welcomed him with a smile. His heart swelled at the sight before him he closed the distance between them, standing by her side. He leaned against the counter watching her work the aroma of the food getting stronger.
âSo what are we having for tonight?â he asked
âIâm making you a traditional korean dish called kimchi jjigae and dakgangjeong for dinner,â she responded with a smile âhere taste this.â
He took a spoonful of the dish savoring the flavors across his palate the spicy and fermented kimchi added a rich and flavorful kick while the soft yet pungent kimchi provided a comforting warmth - back then his former chefs would prepare Sylus a medium rare steak, a veal or an italian pasta with meatballs on it to add some red meat for his diet however this one tasted like home.
âMmm⊠this is delicious in fact let me try some more.â She gave him another clean spoon she liked the fact that he came back for seconds.
âIâm starving shall we go eat?â He usually doesnât ask his chefs to accompany him for dinner and itâs the first time he saw she was holding back. âOh, well itâs almost done sir Iâll serve it once you settle at the table.â Given her professional response he nodded but wasnât satisfied with her answer.
He went to the dining area where he sees the table completely set for one. He frowned a little as if itâs almost reminding him how alone he was. Candle lights, table napkins, clean utensils and a clean plate all waiting for him. He went back to the kitchen immediately realizing that he should be with her eating beside him instead. He sat down at the kitchen island where she promptly prepared basic place mats.
He smiled at her once again giving her the impression that this is where he decided to dine she quickly understood as if they were of one mind. He watches as she sets the food down on the counter the bowl of kimchi jjigae and the plate of dakgangjeong looked tempting.
âLooks good, chef.â She nodded pleased with his approval.
âDig in.â
He didnât need to be told twice he began taking a spoonful of the kimchi jjigae first the flavors were just as delicious as the first couple of bites the spice was well balanced out with other seasonings providing the dish with a perfect symphony of taste.
âThis is really good,â he said as he took a small bite of the dakgangjeong appreciating the flavor from the crispy chicken coated with sweet and tangy sauce. âYou have really outdone yourself with this one.â
She giggled at his compliment, never before in his entire life felt his heart warmed more in that blissful moment.
âYou really enjoy cooking donât you?â He asked still eating
âI do.â
He nodded appreciating her passion. âIt shows in your work,â he complimented. âYou put so much effort into the dishes you make its impressive.â
âThank you, Sylus.â a light blush appeared in her cheeks
Bingo.
âWhy donât you join me? Thereâs more than enough for one person.â He watched her take off her apron and folded it placing it neatly on the counter his gaze softened as she made her way to his side silently grateful that she didnât fight it anymore she ate right beside him taking a comfortable silence.
He felt like this is their new beginning and when the time comes that she would let him court her heâd be more than happy to settle down in a heartbeat.

ITS MY BIRTHDAY TODAYđđđđ I was wondering how my favorites would wish me a happy birthday, Tobi, the cafe, host, static, the supernatural harem and the fast food, if thatâs too many you can shorten it but I really wanted to have some of my favorite characters from my favorite writer congratulate me on my special day! BTW Iâm the one who sent the Prince leash ask, I donât know if you got it but I accidentally did it anonymously
(The Cafe was a bit too much for me to get this out to you the same day, but I hope you like this regardless! On the bright side, I did get your Prince ask and am working on that too. Happy birthday, chief!)
Tobi:
Has never had a birthday himself, but they know what they are and their significance to humans other regular people. Tobi's the kind of guy to surprise you with presents year round, but as your birthday rolls around they keep items you've had your eye on in their back pocket to gift you on your big day.
Its too embarrassing for them to give you in person, but Tobi creates a collage of all their favorite pictures of you to put up somewhere in your bedroom. Tobi loves baking and cooking so a homemade breakfast, dinner, and your treat of choice would be on the top of their list of surprises for you.
Host:
"Looks like it's a special someone's birthday- Those only come around once a year, you know? If - that's how you want it, anyway."
That time already? Time is a tricky thing for Host to wrap his head around. He could've sworn the last one was just yesterday. It hardly matters. Everyday could be your birthday- Contenstants come and go, but you'll always be his star.
That would, of course, wear the novelty of it all thin. Host is more than happy saving the pinnacle of his gratitude for you as his co-host for that one day. That day's contestants better be too if they want to leave with all the parts they came with intact.
Which is his funny way of saying they won't get any cake.
Static:
"Happy birthday to you.... Happy birthday to you...."
Hunts for every variety of birthday song they can find to serenade you with the second daylight bleeds into your room. Static's disappears predating your birthday can swiftly be explained by the trinkets they bring you, majority centered around the shows and movies you've watched together it knows you adore most.
They'd attempt to rope you into another movie night with you in full control of the remote since it's their favorite way to bond with you - and it's optimal cuddle time.
Supernatural Harem:
"Baron, must you make everything a challenge?"
"Piss off! I left enough room for you two to put your names on the cake.... Maddox more importantly than you, but still."
"We appreciate the consideration, but... Where are we supposed to write "happy birthday"?"
Nothing like waking up on your big day to your Demon husband roommate swearing today will be the day he slaughters your Angel husband roommate. Luckily, your Grim Reaper spouse roommate has the expertise to Ä·eep you soothed until things cool over long enough for all of them to prepare breakfast for you.
Baron stalks you around to shower you with mandatory birthday kisses- only to get pouty when he's done before noon and continues well past the age you're turning. You'll be older than all three of them by the time he's through.
Maddox, as usual, fills their journal with sketches of you to unveil at the end of the day. Their art skills is the only thing they're proud of in themselves and monetary possessions don't hit quite the mark they're trying to reach when it comes to presents they like to give. If you're a gamer/a fan of stuffed animals they'll pick up a couple so they can use them when you're away and they miss you.
The first birthday you celebrate with Alasdair has to be one to remember. He's watched you from the sidelines for years and now it's finally his chance to do what he's always wanted. It may be a tad selfish of him in hindsight, but he'll pull you aside the day before or after to enjoy a relaxing evening with just the two of you.
Fast Food:
"Code C! I repeat, Coqde C - The clown is loose!"
Birthday? Well you can't expect to have a celebration without the designated party planner, can you? As everyone closes up the restaurant early to commemorate your big day, Twister hoovers over the crew to insure everything goes swimming. The Janitor follows behind it with their trusty spray bottle to keep the clown in check - its the only excuse they have not to give their present to you by hand because they're too embarrassed.
The bathroom Succubus would insist on you opening her gifts to you first - if a certain goat wouldn't pout over it all day as a result. The ballpit hands shower you with all the shiny items lost in their depths. The Storyteller reads you the tale of someone who's birthday happens to fall on the same day - where nothing bad occurs and the universe smiles kindly in their favor.
The ice cream machine ghost whispers in the ears of customers they'd better wish you a happy birthday or be prepared to have dairy filled nightmares

Loyalty, Honour, A Willing Heart
I absolutely adore a good character deep-dive. And ADM had me in the mood to take a microscope to Thorin.
And Thorin makes such a good prospect...
The Hobbit Trilogy has four main scenes that I think speak absolute VOLUMES about who Thorin is as a person. There are more little parts, but these are the big ones that just punch me right in the feels.
Bag End
Bag End is where we see Thorinâs first major character reveal when he was talking with Balin about who they have gathered to go on the quest with them.Â
He's speaking kindly about who joined him (mainly because one of those warriors is Dwalin, perhaps...) and Balin is shooting him down (his brother being one of the "old warriors"), and we eventually get into the dialogue that tells us SO MUCH.
"You don't have to do this. You have a choice. You've done honorably by our people. You have built a new life for us in the Blue Mountains. A life of peace and plenty. A life that is worth more than all the gold in Erebor."
Given that all that happened with the fall of Erebor, Thorin is not contractually obligated to do all that he has done for his people. Honestly, that weight rests more on Thror rather than him. But he still bears that burden. He has already done so much for his people, and repaid that nonexistent debt ten times over. His is in NO WAY obligated by ANYBODY to go reclaim Erebor.
But, Thorin has quite literally been raised with that as his entire purpose. As the next line of dialogue goes... "From my grandfather to my father, this has come to me. They dreamt of the day when the dwarves of Erebor would reclaim their homeland."
That burden rests so heavily on his shoulders. Itâs a given for him. He has never lived a life or had any circumstance before Erebor. Itâs always been his duty in some sense. Heâs always been obligated, because he was always regarded as Ereborâs crown prince before it fell. (I've never seen anything that would point towards Thrain taking over after Thror, especially given those longer life-spans the dwarves have, so it would potentially make sense for the line of succession to skip every other generation).
He also always had to have the right behaviors and etiquette that becomes a Crown Princeâą. That's part of what makes him the grumpy garden gnome that he is. His entire childhood was probably spent preparing him for the role he was going to take over one day.
After Erebor falls, Thorin is in exile, so his grandfather and his father are plotting to reclaim Erebor in some way down the road, (as Thorin's dialogue points out), so heâs involved with that because heâs the crown prince.Â
And then they have the Battle of Azanulbizar. Which was an absolute tragedy.Â
Before Azanulbizar, Durin's Line was still well intact. It was not decimated by any means. If absolutely necessary, Thror or Thrain could potentially produce another heir just to secure the line of succession.
After Azanulbizar, Thorin is the last remaining male of his specific line. I say that because Fili and Kili--while also technically descended from the line of Durin--are not truly from Durin's Line like Thorin is. They are maternally linked through Dis. If Thorin does not have any sons to carry on the 'name', then Durin's line would essentially become "daughtered out" since Dis would have produced the only direct descendants. If they had a last name, their line would die out with Thorin since he would be the last to be carrying it.
So, as much as I adore the brothers, they are only viewed as a close second. Not the best as they technically are not of Durin's Line.
So Thorin is the last remaining son of Durin, and all the responsibility falls on his shoulders. Essentially, what his father and grandfather wanted to do, that is now on him, (again, the dialogue). And he no longer has Frerin there either. Both to help him with that responsibility, and to potentially produce an heir.
Another point that plays off of that is what would happen after Erebor if Thorin survived BOTFA. Given that his whole personality seems to be "must reclaim Erebor", it got me thinking about what would happen if he did get to rule Erebor.
I don't think this is necessarily something I've seen really explored in a fic. Most tend to place him as adjusting well into the leadership role--which, I do think he would do quite well because he has been living his whole life for this moment--but I definitely think he would go through some sort of 'mid-life crisis'.
When he has reached the goal that he's been striving towards for basically his entire life, where does he go from there?
Does he know how to be anything other than the savior of his people? That seems to be the role he has had for the majority of his life.
Now, circling back around to Bag End, there's still one more bit of dialogue. One that I LOVE.
"There is no choice, Balin. Not for me."
Balin's earlier dialogue hits the nail on the head. Balin is telling Thorin that he does not have to reclaim Erebor. He has built them a life in the Blue Mountains that they are thriving on (now). He has placed his people before himself consistently. That reclaiming Erebor isn't just another part of his duties towards his people that he is required to perform. That he has a CHOICE about this.
And Thorin's response to that implies that he's never had a choice. Both from his grandfather/father, (who groomed him for the role of King), and from himself. That he is 'destined' so-to-speak to accomplish it. That his whole life has been leading to this moment right here.
That's my breakdown of Bag End and that scene there. And....it's long enough that I'll probably break these up.

2019. New Rochelle.
There was no music in the elevator, you noticed. You were alone with your thoughts that echoed back and forth in the chamber of your mind. Sleep didn't come easy the night before, even with the help of the prescribed sleeping pills you hardly ever reached for. After all these years, being face-to-face with Art still managed to draw a reaction from you. One that didn't make much sense. You were a different person now, as he was. Things had happened, and you had changed. Knowing that you were in the same building as Art Donaldson, separated by mere floors, shouldn't make you toss and turn in your bed. You were such a fool; you scolded yourself. He probably slept fine next to his gorgeous wife, with their adorable child in the room next to theirs.
Your likeness on the glossy surface of the elevator door appeared well-kempt, but it wasn't a truthful reflection of how you felt on the inside. The little makeup you used did its job, concealing the dark circles and adding colours to your face. Right there along the seam of yourself was the fatigue, worming its way into the slight slouch in your posture, weighing down your body's effort in keeping it upright. Remembering how your mom used to strike at your upper back so you would sit up straight, you straightened up out of an innate reflex.
The elevator door opened to reveal the first floor. You headed for the hallway Jennifer had led you down, barely passing the peripheral of Art as he stood there in the lobby, talking to a man you didn't recognize. You kept your face away from his direction and quickened your pace, hoping he hadn't spotted you yet. You sighed as the almost empty hallway welcomed you in, save for a couple of people ahead of you chattering about the seat placements. But the relief didn't last long. A familiar voice that you'd tried to forget for years called your name. The marble floor echoed the voice's owner's intention of catching up to you, hurried and rushed as if you were to disappear at any moment. You turned around, stopping him in his tracks â only a few steps from where you were standing.
Art was wearing casual attire, a fitted white t-shirt and black pants, yet he still managed to make them look phenomenal. He looked like he was about to head to practice. You remembered it, all those mornings after spending the night together, watching him getting ready for the day.
For a long moment, neither of you talked, only drinking each other in with your sights. Art broke the tension first, seeming to reprimand himself for staring at you.
"You look great."
"You, too."
You reciprocated, albeit a little cold. There was no reason for you to lie and no excuse for the conversation to be longer than it already was.
"It's good to see you."
You sighed and decided to cut to the chase.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm here for a challenger."
"No, I meant here, right now."
You pointed to the distance between you. His answer lingered on the tip of his tongue, undecided, but eventually rolled off and made itself audible to your ears.
"I ⊠I want to talk to you."
"We have nothing to talk about."
You shook your head. Art took one step closer to you.
"I know that I'm not entitled to your time, but I've missed you."
The latter part ignited the anger in you. How could he say that so easily? You scoffed at his audacity; your own response came with a bite that aimed to hurt.
"I don't think your wife will appreciate what you've just said."
To your surprise, at the mention of the sore subject for the two of you, his resolve remained unchanged.
"Tashi has nothing to do with this."
"She has everything to do with us."
"Not when she resents me."
For the first time in your tense exchange, you relented. You searched for Art's eyes, looking for a hint of betrayal, of deception, but instead, you found defeat. Your resolve softened, and you felt the familiar pull of a memory from when you first met at the Stanford cafeteria thirteen years ago. Two lonely people meeting one another, and now, finding themselves in each other's paths again.
But it should end here.
"Your marriage problem isn't my responsibility to solve."
"I know, and I'm not asking you to. I just ⊠want to talk about us."
You shrugged, keeping your tone nonchalant.
"There's no more us."
At that moment, a mix of voices from a group of people came out from the conference room area, chatting among themselves. The two of you involuntarily took a small step away from each other as if the guilt by distance association was enough to make anyone suspicious. Art's desperation was clear as day.
"Can we talk somewhere else?"
You couldn't say no, so you settled for the next best thing.
"I have to go."
"Can you at least think about it?"
Art closed the distance, reaching for your hand. You were pliant to his gentle touches, overwhelmed with conflicting emotions that lapped at your conscience. A piece of paper was placed in your palm.
"Text me. I'll figure out something for us."
You said nothing to his promise and walked away; your skin felt hot from his touch. You headed straight for the conference room, and your hand slipped the note Art gave you into the pocket of your blazer.
Art's number had not been a resident in your contact for a very long time. You stared at the ten digits later that night in your room, and your fingers itched to do something about it. Burn it or throw it away; it didn't matter. You knew you should do either of those things, but in the end, you couldn't.
At about 12:40 AM, Art sent you the address to a local restaurant that was about a ten-minute drive from the hotel.
Tomorrow night. 7:30.
As the day drew closer to night, the knot in your stomach tightened even more in anticipation. You sat in the car in the restaurant's parking lot for a while despite being there early. When it was 7:38, knowing you couldn't delay it any longer, you straightened your simple outfit and walked into the restaurant. You were greeted by a bored hostess on a slow night; the place was almost empty, save for two other occupied spots. Art's table was in a more secluded area, where privacy was afforded by the enclosed booth with fake vines cascading down to the back of the leather seats in intricate weaves and big leaves. Art stood up when he saw you. The familiarity of the scene stirred a long-forgotten memory that happened seven years ago.
2012. Columbus, Ohio.
Your first book tour. After the reading and signing event, you were free to do whatever you wished, and that meant roaming the aisle of a grocery store, browsing for juice, painkillers and some chocolate. Your eyes pored over the nutritional value, or lack thereof, of a pack of chips when you felt a pair of eyes on you. That, on top of the fact that they wandered into your peripheral and hadn't made the slightest move. You did a double-take when you saw Patrick Zweig standing within arm's reach with a self-assuring smirk on his face.
"Hey. It's you."
"It's⊠you."
You echoed his recognition, but on the contrary to his amusement, yours was the faintest touch of dread.
"It's been a while."
"It has been. How are you?"
You turned to face him fully. He scratched the back of his head with his free hand.
"I'm ⊠great! You?"
"I'm good. What are you doing here?"
Patrick looked around the aisle as if the answer was obvious.
"In this grocery store? I'm getting groceries."
You looked at the basket in his other hand. It was filled with chips, soda and some bananas.
"Right. No, I mean, in the city."
"I'm here for a challenger. Well, was."
"What happened?"
"I got eliminated."
He dipped his head and averted his eyes from yours, seeming embarrassed by the admission of the fact.
"I'm sorry to hear that."
"That's alright. At least I'm $300 richer now."
Patrick gestured to you.
"What about you? What are you doing here?"
"I'm on a book tour."
"Ahh. Sounds like you're doing very well for yourself."
"Thank you."
You felt sheepish at his compliment. The two of you fell into a lull of silence, your eyes intertwined in a languid game of cat and mouse. Patrick looked like he wanted to tell you something, but you had nothing to say to him. So you broke the silence first.
"Well, uh, it's very nice to see you again. I should go."
He stepped forward, trying to capture your attention in the way his body language created an invisible enclosure that temporarily held you in.
"Wait. Can we go somewhere else to talk? I think we have a lot to talk about."
"Do we?"
You levelled him with an incredulous look. But he met you with earnestness.
"Yes, we do."
"I don't think so."
"They got married last month."
It took you a brief moment to understand. Still, his decision to break the news to you in an abrupt manner took you by surprise. Your heart seemed to drop into a bottomless pit, and you could feel the frantic beat of it thrumming along every inch of your skin. You quickly fixed your frown into a forced smile.
"Well, that's great to hear. I'm happy for them."
Patrick gave you a look that said your effort was all in vain.
"You don't mean that."
"We all have to move on at some point. Unlike you."
The venomous bite of your words didn't go unnoticed by the dark-haired man before you.
"If you knew what I know, then you would be just like me."
You scoffed, crossing your arms.
"Please, we're not the same. Stop being cryptic and just say what you want to say."
He tilted his head at you, an idea dancing in his blue eyes.
"How about this? I'll tell you over dinner. We can use some catching up."
Your lack of a response made him feel like he needed to apply a little pressure.
"You'll want to know what happened. Trust me."
You rolled your eyes. You couldn't believe you were seriously considering his offer. You exhaled deeply and decided then that spending some time with your ex's wife's ex-boyfriend was better than a night alone in the hotel room.
"Where and what time?"
His smirk deepened, and you wanted to wipe that off of his face.
"There's an Applebee's nearby. How about we meet up there ⊠around 7?"
"Fine."
That was how you ended up here, sitting across from Patrick Zweig, sipping on a Rum and Coke while waiting for your food. Whatever he wanted to say to you might pair better with the taste of alcohol. You hadn't even bothered to change out of the sundress you wore just hours before when you ran into him.
"How's it going for you career-wise?"
Patrick took a sip of his drink to delay answering your question.
"Oh, you know, it's ⊠good. I'm making a name for myself."
You recalled his grocery haul, the pair of shorts that resembled pyjama pants, and the state of his car when you arrived around the same time as he did. The interior was messy, with rolled-up socks and clothes draping all over the back seat, trash and parking tickets in the front. Doubt swelled in your head.
"Are you? I have a feeling that you wouldn't be sleeping in your car if that was the case."
A playful smile appeared on his lips.
"Ouch. The hostel I was staying in had bed bugs, so my car was the next best option. I'll go to a motel after this, though."
You hummed, thinking back about what Art had told you about Patrick.
"Isn't your family rich?"
"They are. Not me."
His long middle finger traced the rim of his drink in a pensive mood.
"Why don't you ask them for help?"
"I don't want to. Let's just say we always fail to come to an agreement when it comes to the choices that I've made."
Your acknowledgement came in the form of slow nods of your head. You understood him for not wanting to depend on your family for anything. It would only give them one more reason to call you a disappointment for daring to seek their help.
The waiter brought out your food, and your conversation was pulled into a lull of quietude as you ate your food. You dabbed the corner of your mouth for a drop of the creamy pasta sauce, while Patrick munched on three pieces of fries. You picked up what was left off moments ago.
"You're still privileged in a way, you know? You could give up and crawl back to your family's mansion. I'm sure they'll welcome you back with open arms."
"I could. But there's no fun in that. Besides, I prefer being a disappointment anyway."
You shared a small chuckle. Under the low light of the restaurant, you allowed yourself to take him in fully. Curly dark hair, contrasted with the soft edges of his face. The light stubble along his jaw added a rugged charm to his laid-back attitude. You couldn't help but compare him to Art. Patrick's confidence was loud, veering on cocky. Art's was quiet, but full of surprises when the moment called for it.
The heady allure of Patrick and his association with Art had started to draw up dangerous ideas in your mind. You inhaled sharply, your fingers rubbed your temple in small circles in an attempt to bring yourself back to the conversation. The one you needed to have the moment you settled in the booth of Applebee's.
"So ⊠they got married."
"Yeah. Pretty recently. Didn't even get an invite."
A sardonic huff of air escaped your lips.
"Join the club. I found out about their engagement last year, but I didn't think âŠ"
You trailed off, not wanting to finish the thought. But the silence did it for you. Patrick nodded.
"Art moves fast. He knows what he wants and he goes for it. And no one can tell him otherwise."
"I know it all too well."
"Little fucker."
You took a sip of your second Rum and Coke. A deep sigh escaped your lungs.
"I get it, though. She's beautiful, she's passionate about tennis. She can help him in ways that I can't."
At that, Patrick stayed quiet. His eyes took you in, all of your honesty and insecurity displayed in a glass case in front of him. You felt the briefest brush of vulnerability on your spine and shivered, but you ignored it. Despite the lack of dialogue and contact during the short period Patrick visited Stanford, your shared history ran deeper than the surface-level interaction that you had.
Patrick set down his burger and wiped his mouth with the napkin. His fingers created a rhythm on the wooden table, but then, the dull melody was cut short.
"Art is devoted to Tashi, but she's not."
"What do you mean?"
You prompted him to continue.
"Tennis is not everything to Art. But to Tashi, it is."
"I figured as much. It's not new news."
An inkling that Patrick was deliberately withholding information from you came to your mind. You sat up straighter, setting your fork down.
"Spill, Patrick."
He relented after a moment.
"I was in Atlanta last year. A couple of months after they got engaged."
You looked at him, unsure where he was going.
"Both of them were there for the Atlanta Open. I ⊠saw Tashi in the hotel they were staying that night, and we ⊠slept together."
You searched for a hint of deception in his face, only to come up with none. His face remained unreadable, betraying nothing, leaving only sincerity despite the irony of the situation. Your mouth opened, and closed, as you were at a loss for words. Patrick shrugged as if what he had just confessed was no more than a harmless, made-up tale.
"She wants an obedient little dog to carry out her fantasy of being a great tennis player. And Art is more than eager to do that for her."
He continued, seeming oblivious to your lack of response.
"She didn't seem happy, being engaged to Art. And if I can be honest, I think Tashi only likes Art because he's loyal to her to a fault, and he'll do anything to please her. I don't think she even loves him."
That somehow took you out of your bewildered state.
"Are you even listening to yourself? He was your best friend."
"My best friend? Who sabotaged my relationship, stole my girlfriend and basically abandoned me for her?"
Your rebuttal shot forward like a bullet out of its chamber.
"So you slept with her? To revenge? Even though she was engaged to Art? You're no better than him, Patrick. Two wrongs don't make one right."
You shook your head and couldn't help the thought that rolled off of your lips.
"You tennis players are such fucking assholes."
Patrick only nodded in agreement and didn't say anything. You sighed, asking the question you'd wanted to know.
"Does Art know?"
"I don't think so."
You shook your head, feeling a wave of fatigue taking over.
"I've had enough of you people. Just leave me alone."
He held his hands up in defence.
"All I'm saying is, you still have a chance if you want it."
You gave a rueful smile.
"Am I an idiot for wanting to believe you?"
He took his time, roaming over you with a pensive gaze. You felt exposed under it, after the confession you had never dared to verbalize out loud. Perhaps it was both of your positions in this game of tennis, the back and forth that inexplicably wove the four of you together in these intricate patterns, so tightly entangled with one another, that made you feel like Patrick would recognize. There was only understanding, and no judgement. The irony was that. Tennis was a simple game when you stripped it down to its barest principles, but the interconnection between everyone was anything but simple.
"No, you're not. You must really love him."
You looked down at your empty glass, unable to meet his eyes.
"I hate that I still feel this way about him."
Even though both of you were hurt by Art, you couldn't help the question that came afterward.
"Do you miss him?"
Patrick was his best friend, and Art was his. They had a life-long history between them that you weren't privy to. Your pain and his were different in kind, but you could understand all the same.
"I do."
The rest of the meal was cast in a sombre hue, with both of you mulling over a mutual understanding and the similarities you shared. Neither of you was the winner, but that didn't matter now.
/
"You didn't have to pay for my meal as well."
He said as you walked together to his car. You came here by taxi, and Patrick had offered to give you a ride back to your hotel. You waved a dismissive hand.
"Don't mention it. Giving me a ride back is enough."
His car was only within a few strides away when Patrick stepped in front of you.
"I can do more than that, you know? To pay you back."
"How?"
"I, we, can make Art jealous."
You halted and repeated your previous question. He arched an eyebrow, his expression said nothing but trouble, and when understanding dawned on you, you levelled him with a glare.
"No. Sleeping with you is the last thing I need right now."
"Who said anything about sleeping?"
You scoffed at the obvious bait, sidestepping him to reach the passenger side of his car.
"We can make out, take a photo, and I'll send it to Art. Make him realize what he's missing."
"If you want to kiss me, just say that. No need to make up excuses."
You rolled your eyes at him and realized just how much closer Patrick was to you than moments ago. He dipped his head to look at you, his gaze traced the shape of your lips and drifted to your eyes. When he spoke, his voice softened, low and careful, and your curiosity responded, pushing back the guard your inhibition had put up.
"I really do."
He leaned in, and you rose on your tiptoes to meet his lips. The touch was gentle and slow at first as you tested the pieces you needed to fit together. Then Patrick took over, and you followed his lead. His presence was all-encompassing, sweeping over your senses. Your lips lapsed and locked together in a feverish rhythm, a playful and exhilarating chase of lust. His tongue prodded at your entrance, and you opened yourself up to him. Your tongues intertwined, determined to draw whatever you needed from the other.
You didn't know when Patrick had pushed you up against his car, but you were grateful as your strength had become dependent on him. The cold metal of his car and the solid yet soft feel of his body created delicious friction on your skin. You grasped at each other's body, groping and pulling, your lips barely parted for a much-needed gulp of air. He grunted when you bit his lower lip, and that earned you a harsh, handful squeeze of your ass under your sundress. Your body called to his, and yet, a small part of your mind beckoned you to resurface, to come to the admission of the truth that you had been running away from.
Your ardour exchange slowed as you parted to breathe. Still, you met each other in the middle for brief touches, and you eventually pulled away. Patrick's thumb rubbed at the curve of your bottom lip as if he were admiring his work of art, which was swollen and glistening with his mark. His whisper was warm on your lips.
"Did you think about him?"
You nodded and swallowed.
"Did you think about her?"
It took him a moment, but he nodded. A woeful smile graced your swollen lips.
"I don't think this is a good idea."
"Revenge is always a good idea."
You touched his jaw, forcing him to meet your eyes.
"You don't win by sleeping with me. I don't want to be a perpetual pawn in the game that all three of you play. Besides, I don't think Art cares anymore."
Patrick shook his head.
"About what happened all those years ago? Maybe not. But I think he still cares about you."
"It doesn't make a difference though, does it?"
"I guess not."
You playfully and gently pushed him back, making Patrick set you down on your own shaky legs. Your front brushed against his arousal, and you bit your bottom lip in amusement.
"Come on, you still have to drive me back."
Before getting out of his car in front of your hotel, you reached for his hand.
"It was nice to see you again, Patrick. I really mean it."
His hand came up to meet yours, giving it a soft squeeze.
"You, too. I'm glad that we got to catch up."
You left his car without saying another word. Your heart was heavy, but at ease. Moving on and forward was your only option, but it felt much easier now. Still, you wished you would never have to see any of them ever again.

Yet another Veilguard update with the usual good, the bad, the ugly, and the me freaking out about minor references and callbacks haha
This one is very long sorry
So since the last update I have done as much side content as possible before heading to the Hossberg Wetlands and later Weisshaupt (which I just completed last night) which included, briefly, unlocking all of the solas regrets murals
And uh WOW was that whole deep dive a doozy. I definitely should have spaced out the murals over time rather than movie-marathoned them back to back. But the things I learned about SolasâŠitâs insanity
In a good way
In a really horrifying way
I loved that our theories about Solas being a spirit of Wisdom first were confirmed, and I lost my mind over the fact that the first elves were spirits who gained physical bodies by taking Titan blood (aka lyrium). And the fact that Solas CREATED THE BLIGHT by essentially making the Titans Tranquil?? And thatâs why Dwarves donât dream????
Losing my mind. Solas what have you DONE.
I still ahev to process it all haha but I do have a few thoughts
So far, I wish there was more engagement with these elements and the Chant of Light. The companions react and say that these reveals basically dismantle Andrastianism but the Chant has several allegorical parallels to what, apparently, really happened. The Makerâs first children were spirits, and all thatâŠso I kind of wish the Chantry had a bigger presence in the game with more reactivity
But thatâs a post for another day. For now, I reloaded back to only 3 murals unlocked so the team only knows the story up to Solas creating the Veil. Iâll rewatch the others later.
I got worried about being locked out of stuff so I went ahead and did as much side content as I could with a couple of exceptions. Turns out, I probably didnât need to do that and it would have made more sense narratively if I hadnât. More on that in a minute
The Siege of Weisshaupt mission was SO GOOD!! LikeâŠthe main missions are really where this game shines, I think. I have gripes with some of the companion conversations, but in the actual story missions, the action, the intensity, all of it is so good. And I thought Ghilanânain turning her archdemon into a many-headed hydra creature was *chefs kiss* so cool. I love fighting big/unique stuff like that!
All that said the follow up scene with the team at the table leavesâŠa lot to be desired
Listen, DA games pride themselves on bringing together a team of companions that players adore and fall in love with. Naturally we enjoy helping out our companions because we like them. We donât have to be told to help them because we just generally do thatâŠand if we donât then, rip, suffer the consequences
So I got a bit annoyed when the scene suddenly turned to a very overt âfix our problemsâ narrative
I donât know, that feels soâŠforced to me. Varric literally tells me I have to solve everyoneâs problems. Which is likeâŠI was going to! Because theyâre my friends! But being straight up told like âhey you have to solve everyoneâs problems and stop their distractions or this team isnât going to functionâ is likeâŠIâm sorry are we adults or arenât we? Why am I being told to babysit the team? Can you guys not pursue these distractions on your own rather than wait for me to give you permission? Did we all forget that two gods are out there rampaging? That theyâre strong enough to destroy a fortress that stood against the blight and various conflicts for over 900 years? That they havenât stopped and show no signs of stopping anytime soon?
But no, by all means, tell me in very obvious terms that my job is now to reconcile all your differences before I face the gods again. That doesnât feel very handed at all.
Let me be clear. I love to help my companion. I love the idea that you build a team that works well because you have shaped them via your leadership skills. I love the idea that your team works well because you have invested in them. Thatâs really the heart of any DA gameâgather your team, earn their loyalty, and see how well the friends youâve made along the way assist you in the big battles to come.
ButâŠthat scene around the kitchen table could have been so much better, so much more nuanced, and far less âSolve their problems.â
To me, that scene should have been everyone fighting, calling out everyoneâs distractions and mistakes, and essentially devolving into outright arguments over the table until Rook yells at everyone to shut up. Everyone is mad, everyone is upset. And then maybe the companions are like âsorry Rook, listen, I have a lot on my mind. Iâm still going to help with the Big Problem but Iâm also going to pursue this Other Thing whether you like it or not.â No suggestion that itâs now your problem to solve, but a heavy hint that it might get done more quickly if you help (which also gives you room to be an ass and not help). In this scenario, everyone ends up being very disgruntled with you, but you still have your hint that you need to pursue companion questlines if you want to see their cool abilities or special items or get them to be a Hero of the Veilguard or whateverâŠbut thatâs just my opinion
Basically I wanted subtly and tension. So much more tension.
What we got instead was a couple of annoyed comments and then Emmrich being like âoh dear weâre all distracted by the things that bother usâ and everyone offering up distractions that, yes, need to be resolvedâŠbut itâs very easy to be like âhey bud the Hand of Glory and the Nadas Dirthalen can wait until the gods arenât threatening to destroy the world I think.â
Itâs not the worst scene in the world, but it could have been reframed better. Either frame it as âSorry Rook but none of these factions trust you enough to aid you in the fight, you have to prove yourself to themâ (and loop in the companion questlines that way) or show your team literally unraveling because they canât get along or agree with youânow you see the evidence of what you need to fix, and nobody has to outright tell you to âsolve everyoneâs distractions.â Itâs just implied. Because you saw them fighting. A lot.
Like duh I knew Iâd have to resolve everyoneâs problems if I want them to like me or stick around! Thatâs just what Iâve come to expect from RPG games like this. Itâs an expectation of the genre. But I donât want to be told thatâs my job now. If anything it triggers my contrarian nature and now I want to see what bad ending I get when I donât listen to the gameâs extremely heavy push for me to deal with everyoneâs issues
I wonât, but Iâm tempted
I justâŠwanted it to be better. I want see everyone bitching at each other until everyone leaves in a huff and Rook just sits at the table, head in their hands like âoh my god everyone hates me and they hate each other and weâre going to die if everyone canât get their shit togetherâ
Then maybe Varric sits down next to them and goes, âHey kid, did I ever tell you about the time Hawke tried to convince a Rivaini pirate, a weird abomination, a Dalish blood mage, a stiff-necked captain of the guard, a broody elf who glowed in the dark, and a few other friends besides to all agree to fight as a team to stop a qunari invasion in Kirkwall? It worked, more or less. By the end of the night, everyone had worked together enough to end up with one dead Arishok and an entire cityâs gratitude.â
Maybe Rook looks up and says, âAnd howâd they manage that little miracle? Without everyone trying to kill each other in the process.â
And maybe Varric smiles and shrugs. âThey had their differences, trust me. Half the time you couldnât put two of them in a room together without a fight breaking out. But they all believed in one thing. They believed in Hawke.â
Then maybe thereâs a pause, as he lets Rook consider that for a moment, before he stands up and says, âItâs a good bedtime story, in any case. Iâll let you sleep on it.â
Sigh. It just would have been coolâŠ
Now in all fairness the scene felt even clunkier because I had actively been doing side quests and helping out my friends so it was likeâŠit felt weird to have this implication that Iâm not already helping them. It makes me think I shouldnât do any of their side quests until after the Siege of Weisshaupt but who knows
I keep pendulum swinging back and forth between moments of brilliance and moments that leave me baffled and wondering who made some of these narrative/writing calls. I donât hate the game by any stretch of the imagination. Like I said the Siege of Weisshaupt was amazing! And I loved the callbacks to precious games! You should have seen me live reacting and screaming about codexes in the Weisshaupt library haha But itâs like whiplash when something that good is followed up by a scene that feels excessively more hamfisted in comparison.
Anyway I am very busy this weekend and dunno when Iâll get to write another update soooo if youâre following for more, hope to give you more updates in the near-ish future!

Fic writer meme
Thank you so much for tagging me @discordantwords.
How many works do you have on ao3? 34. 6 SPN RPF (J2), 1 Supernatural (Wincest - if you have opinions about this, I don't want to hear them), and 27 for BBC Sherlock. I feel compelled to add though that my fandom history predates AO3 by about ten years, and that most of the fics I wrote during that time aren't on AO3. All of my TPM fics, all of my HP fics and most of my Supernatural fics are in fact not on Ao3. So I actually have no idea how many fics I've written since I started in 2001.
Whatâs your total word count? 585,261 words.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Don't Read the Last Page, Bakers with Benefits, Running Obliquely, Guess Who's Coming to Christmas Dinner and All I Want for Christmas (is Proof) (you guys really like my Christmas fics :-))
Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Yes, I love comments, and I love getting into dialogue with readers about their interpretation of the characters and canon! I try to answer everyone, if I ever forget to answer, I'm really sorry!
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Um... None?
Of the ones on AO3 that is. I once wrote a Supernatural fic where Sam was a ghost and Dean had to exorcise him and it was heavily implied that Dean would commit suicide as soon as that was done, so that was pretty dark. And I wrote 2 Supernatural post Apocalypse fics that end well but the setting is very bleak.
But all my new stuff, especially all my Johnlock stuff, has happy endings.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Probably Bakers with Benefits. Sherlock gets everything he wants, including John, and they basically live happily ever after. But like I said, all my fics end happily.
Do you write crossovers?
I haven't yet, but that doesn't mean I won't, one of these days. I wrote a Bake Off Sherlock AU, but crossovers means having characters from both canons, and I re-cast both hosts and jurors, so it probably doesn't count.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No, thankfully not. I've received a few odd comments here and there, but I never had the feeling that they were mailcious, just tone deaf.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, I do. Mostly of the vanilla kind, I'm not super kinky, and I'm not much for writing PWPs these days, but I like a good, spicy sex scene that shows you something about the characters and their dynamic. And sometimes it's just hawt. Which is also fine.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I heard a story once that someone stole one of my J2 fics and turned into a Het Degrassi fic, but I could never verify this claim because the fic got deleted. Other than that, not that I know of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, several, and it's a great honour.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, mostly with my wife @nuttersinc, we co-wrote an entire fic series and some other, smaller fics, and we once at a Boondock Saints RPG (I know. I know.) I haven't co-written with anyone in ages, and I'm not sure how good I would be at it these days, since I'm a pantser and don't have very much time, so I think I'd drive anyone with a regular writing schedule bananas. But I'm open to try.
What's your all-time favourite ship?
All time.... omg... Ok, so mirroring @discordantwords here, I adore Mulder and Scully still. They're the OG ship for me, they were the first pairing I read fanfic for. They'e such a good example of The Dynamic (repressed bisexual disguising as the "normal" one when they're just a more adapted sort of crazy and socially awkward genius crazy himbo the normal one has to save all the time). Scully especially owns my heart, I love her, and Gillian Anderson is, like. So. Hot.
But Sherlock and John... they're just... so GOOD. You can do anything with them. You can put them in any scenario, any time, any space, and they're just so magnetically drawn to each other, they complement each other so well and they're so bad and so good for each other... I love them. So much.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
Oh, quite a few. The one where John is Sherlock's neighbour and they have this 'we're just friends' dynamic and everyone thinks they should just get married, including Rosie, who's a sassy teen in this fic. It's got a lot of potential but I don't think I'll ever finish it.
What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm good at dialogue and character dynamics. I think I'm also good at building character arcs, and I think I'm good at setting scenes and making oblivious idiots fall in love.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm not the greates plot writer in the world. It takes me much more effort than writing a fic where, say, Sherlock and John have breakfast and talk, to pick a random example. I tend to lose the thread of the plot because I start writing the vibe before I have everything figured out, so I tend to get 'stranded' at some point. That's why my WIP folder looks the way it does.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don't attempt it if I don't have a native speaker to look it over and tell me if it's correct. (if the other language isn't German, which is my native language).
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Roswell (the one from the early 2000s, not Roswell New Mexico. Yes, I'm a Fandom Old.)
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
None, honestly. If I wanted to write for a fandom or ship, I would.
What's your favourite fic you've written?
Oh my god I'm not sure I can answer that. I really like all of my fics, and I love most of them still. Some were such fun to write, some harder but the hardship made them more beloved.
I'll probably have to go for Bakers with Benefits, though, because I still like to re-visit that 'verse and I just LOVE these two.
That was fun! I'm tagging anyone who wants to do this, but especially @jrow @meetinginsamarra @lisbeth-kk and @thetimemoves

Can we talk about the 3 albecale hugs a bit
Plaza terror incident
Mogoru Empire
Gorge of Death
1) was after a terror incident and the first time Cale used his shield
2) was after another terror incident, it was the second time Cale used his shield
3) was at the end of the war against the northern alliance
Now, you cannot convince me Alberu didn't break a sweat worrying over his yet to be sworn brother the second time-
I also think that one to be an at least 85% genuine one
When they were having the third hug, it's mentioned that they have done something like this before. When? After the terror plaza incident. They reference that hug and that hug only, even though they hugged in front of the public in the Mogoru Empire as well.
There's a difference between these two hugs and the one at the Empire because
-> the firts time, they didn't know each other yet and it was a way to scam everyone while making sure they're on the same wavelength and would cooperate with one another
-> the third time, they needed to show the soldiers that everything is 'over', they won and can rest
-> the second time though, although it was to calm the people present I think it was also to calm Alberu
it was Alberu's first time seeing Cale "always talking and top of his game" Henituse being quiet, covered in his own blood, shaking and still asking about others first
Of course, Cale was actually feeling alright and shaking for different reasons but how was he supposed to know that
-> Alberu being like 'I can't help but to trust him'
-> Cale being like 'I gotta make him king, c'mon, look at him"
-> also Alberu, moments before: *almost cursing two times right after each other, looking at Cale*
This whole hug scene is my Roman Empire and means so much to me
I adore these two smart idiots a lot and this is one of my favorite arcs I like to revisit, so just wanted to mention it cuz why not :D

helloo! back to humbly ask for more content for him hehe but this time I wanna add for his brother as well!đ
how they'd react to their s/o sacrificing themselves to save them/for their sake? how they are in their last moments together and how they handle the aftermath? I love the Uchiha boys being soft but i cant resist the angst sometimes đ«Ł
thank you again! adore your work as always!
author's note: I am in an angsty mood right now, so I literally RUSHED to my drafts, so I can finish this request! Thank you so much for sending it and I really hope I did it justice! <3
†Sasuke
The death of his s/o would be one of the two things: either the birth of the greatest villain to ever exist or the end of the 'ninja path' for Sasuke Uchiha.
It really depends on WHY did they sacrificed themselves for him or more importantly WHO took their life.
I think no matter when Sasuke has met them (before or after the war), he would take them as granted. He didn't even want to think about a scenario where they would not exist or be part of his life, let alone accept it.
So when they fell in front of him, a giant hole in their chest, his immediate reaction was shock.
This could not be happening... This should NOT be hapenning!
His whole body would be frozen and he would stay in place for at least a few minutes, till your weak attempt to mutter his name brings him back to reality. He immediately rush by their side, cradling their face in his hands while he kept muttering the same words over and over again.
"No, no, no... Don't close your eyes, you are fine! Don't... don't do this! Please!"
(the first and last time he ever said the word "please" to his s/o)
Once the realisation that there was still a battle going on hits him, his rage would erupt like a volcano. He would make sure that whoever is responsible for his s/o being gone would suffer not only painful, but also a gruesome death.
Now like I said above, why did his s/o sacrifice themselves for him and who was on the other side of the attack would be KEY details in shaping Sasuke's future.
I think if it happens way after the war (let's say 10 years+) and his s/o sacrifices themselves for him during mission or during an attack by foreign ninjas, he would most likely retire as a shinobi and seek quiet life somewhere outside Konoha.
(he not only looks like John Wick, but he also follows a similar path... đ)
He would no doubt contribute their death to him being a ninja and I don't think he can accept the idea of continuing being one, knowing it has costed him so much. He lost EVERYTHING to that lifestyle and now all he had left were memories.
If his s/o, however, died during the war or shortly after, and have the fate to be killed by a Leaf Shinobi there is NO GOING BACK for Sasuke.
Full 100% Villain Mode!
I have no doubt that he will put all his effort, time and energy in avenging his s/o or even worse - try everything to bring them back to life!
Would wage a fifth and even a sixth world war if it means that he will finally find a way to destroy the villages, especially Konoha once and for all.
†Itachi
The idea of death never scared Itachi.
He was responsible for countless deaths, including the ones of his own parents, and he himself was clearly seeing the upcoming end of his own life.
Yet the idea of his s/o dying was not one that ever crossed his mind. He has always imagined that they would live many, many years after him, having a beautiful family with someone who can give them everything he could not.
I imagine his s/o would die either during the fight with Sasuke or shortly after.
Just like Sasuke he would be in disbelief and shock at first, but instead of just staying frozen to the place, he would rush toward his s/o and catch them before they hit the ground.
"No... What have you done? You should've stayed away, you should've listened to me!"
Itachi is usually calm and collected, but this may be one of the few times he actually loses control (or maybe even the only one?).
If his s/o was killed before that battle by some other enemy, he would kill his enemy the same way as Sasuke - slow and gruesome, leaving the battlefield a bloody reminder of what an Uchiha is capable of in the name of love.
If Sasuke was the one that took his s/o life, he would not hold back and unleash all his power, despite his weakened state.
He would forget all his initial goals and feelings when it comes to his little brother, and would use every attack in his arsenal with the sole purpose to kill.
However, in that instance, I do think there will be a moment where he will get some clarity before the end of the fight and he is immediately filled with guilt.
If his s/o has never met him, they would still be alive. The fault was not Sasuke's - it was only his.
This would be the key moment when he loses all determination to fight and let's his younger brother take his life.
With his s/o gone, he actually looks forward death. Because maybe someday, somewhere, in another life, he would have a chance to make things right.
That moment when Zabuza died next to Haku... yep, that is Itachi next to his s/o.
He would use the last remaining energy in his body to crawl over to them and slip his hand in their cold one.
(I think I may have made myself accidentally cry with this one... :( )

Something I want to see a lot more of in post-canon fics is Viktor not turning back to human, and still being stuck in full Arcane Harbinger form.
The main reason is for the angst and the drama: the damage is done, and he can't go back to human. He has to navigate his newfound romantic relationship with Jayce while also coming to terms with his transformation-as well as having a LOT of Identity issues and Body Horror-related trauma. (The "mask" literally split his face open. I imagine he probably gets a lot of unpleasant sensations from that.) He also has to learn to curb his newfound Control Freak tendencies and that it's Not Okay to try to turn people into walking soulless automatons just because they were rude to Jayce. (In Viktor's defense, the guy was an asshole who no one would miss.)
Not helping is that Viktor still has some of the unsettling Arcane abilities he developed. They've been greatly weakened, but he still has a limited version of them-and it really only hammers home his lack of humanity.
(Of course, that begs the question: will Viktor come to accept his current form, or will he begin to pursue a more... Cybernetic path in order to feel like himself again? Regardless, Jayce is with him every step of the way-and he'll help in any way he can.)
oh absolutely yes i love this angle so much... i think on the whole, postcanon stuff is hitting a lot more for me if him processing what he did and that dark place he went to also means processing what happened to his body and being comforted through it by jayce (and yknow what, both of their bodies, jayce spent a whole episode in a torture nexus and has been irreperably damaged too and he hasnt really had a moment to sit with it yet). i appreciate a pure fluff magical fix-it and people are drawing such sweet art of them reemerging and vibing in different universes as essentially pre/early show versions of themselves but also theres so much potential for infinite interesting and complex thematics here and i hope people will see the value in exploring The Entire State Of It All. you guys better not forget the message that imperfection is lovable
we have no damn clue what happened to them at the end there and the options truly are limitless. a beautiful fanfic for every possible mood and every possible needed genre of catharsis is hopefully gonna come out of this and i will be Sat and Reading. i want them both to wake up in a meadow just like the one wizard viktor teleported baby jayce to. i want them cosmically entwined in space forever. i want them covered in magical scars and they have matching bad legs and shards of crystal embedded in their hands and they get to adore every inch of their mangled selves and grow old together. i want viktor remaining a cosmic horror with half his face blown off and jayce still showing him infinite unconditional adoration and care
also just insanely potent monsterfucker potential lol. jayce get the hell in there and keep telling him how beautiful he is!!!!! chop chop!!!!!!!!!!!

hello !! I wanted to ask about a ghosts au! <3 is Kevin there? does Wymack know he's his son?? what happened to him (how he died đđ)? was he a famous figure before his death? omg I want to know everything đ«”đŒđ„ș
hi!
Kevin is there, stuck on the property that belongs to the house, has been there for almost forty years by the time that Neil is born.
Exy was a sport that was well known for a long time by the time that Neil finds interest in it, found almost fifty years before canon, with Kayleigh and Tetsuji still being it's founders.
At one point the Wesninski property had belonged to the Moriyama's second branch, a place that Tetsuji took his athlete's to train when it was summer time since the university was closed during those months. It had been a place that Kevin Day and Riko Moriyama spent most of their childhoods in, both of the boys training on the exy court nearby that was shut down years after Kevin's death due to all the accidents that had took place on it.
The two boys were rising stars for a very long time, one of them being Kayleigh Day's son and the other being Tetsuji Moriyama's nephew, and the world had adored the duo.
Till tragedy struck, and Kevin Day had an accident. An accident that cost him his life.
It was said that he fell down a river near the house, and that his body was never found, never discovered. No one knew that it had been Riko, who had gotten too drunk one day and had broken not only Kevin's hand but more than half of Kevin's bones, just because Kevin ahd beat him in a practice match.
Riko who panicked after seeing what he had done, and ended up having a couple of other players carry Kevin to the bridge near the house, before they had pushed Kevin's barely holding on body off of it, Riko hoping desperately that no one would find the younger man's remains, that Riko would never have to face the consequences of his actions.
Nathan's father was given the house after doing something that won the Moriyama's favour when Nathan was 15 years old, but by the time that the Nathan took the heir's position there were no Moriyama's left, the empire having already been on the verge of collapsing after losing so many of it's connections. The Wesninski house only belonged to the Wesninski for less than 30 years.
Kevin was really famous, almost more than Riko was, and his fans were absolutely devastated when he was announced dead. Riko dies only a year or two later, on the Exy court near the house, one of his uncle's lesson's going too far. His ghost ends up getting stuck to the locker room of the court instead of the whole property like Kevin and the rest of the foxes were.
Wymack is aware that Kevin was his son, had even been Kevin's 'imaginary friend' after Kevin had been moved to the Baltimore house after Kayleigh's death, had played a hand in raising him into the great man he had been even with how horrible of an influence that Tetsuji had been for him.
It's Kevin, who doesn't know that Wymack is his father, but finds himself drawn to the man because of how much his mother had respected him and all the stories that she had told Kevin of Wymack.
Hope that i was able to answer your questions XD, have been obsessing over this AU a bit too much, and had a lot of fun answering your questions too! Thank you for the ask! <3

Of course, he didn't like that. He wasn't an ignorant person in any sense of the word, and he didn't like to be. "Then I've acknowledged it. I think even Socrates would agree, though, that you do at some point have to know. I would know, I've met him." Which was true, but it was a fact he was using more to make a point than anything, which when he thought about it, Socrates probably wouldn't actually like all that much. Well, what he didn't know, right?
In any case, a little bit of wisdom thrown at him did little to comfort him. He wanted to know, and the more she objected, the more his curiosity grew. He shouldn't have asked, but he was always going to. (She should have known that, really.)
But that was part of the problem. The more he looked at her, the more it worried at his mind, because there was something about her that seemed to slip through his mind, that seemed to be unrecognizable. He saw her, he heard her, he could touch her, but if he really tried to think about her, it slipped through his mind like sand through fingers. And the funny thing, the thing that really bothered him, was that something did not want to know. Not him, but something in him. Like a voice that wasn't his. Why was that, he wondered?
"I have never done as I'm told," he said, voice still that same tone, like that of a scolding parent, or a teacher. Or perhaps a man scolding a particularly excitable, adorable dog? With big eyes and brown hair? That seemed appropriate. Her followup reason was a little more convincing, but there was something in it that didn't sit right. "You are either very arrogant, or you're telling the truth, and I don't like either. So I'm going to ask you again: why not?"
âââ â THEY ALWAYS TOOK THE LONG WAY AROUND. Thrills and chases all circled back to the grand purpose. The hidden "Why." This Doctor of hers had the mind of an engineer. He only wanted to understand. "Knowledge begins with the acknowledgment of one's ignorance. Socrates." Her eyebrows raised up in a cheeky manner. "Not that I'm calling you ignorant. I want to keep you blissfully ignorant though."
The full breadth of her history and how entangled it was with his would only make things harder on him. Better yet, she wasn't the culprit who made the call on his behalf. He chose this himself.
With the way he studied her face, she knew he still hadn't been able to piece her together. It would've been so easy, so close to child's play, to look her up. Even if she scrubbed all traces of this Clara Oswald from digital systems, there were thousands of other versions of her in and past, present, and future. For as long as he started running, she had always been around. She shrugged with nonchalance as she started to take the first steps away from him.
The first steps to anything were always the most difficult. She pushed herself to place one foot in front of the other anyway. Step by step. "Because you'll do as you're told." Those who gave the Doctor orders were either very daring or very foolish. Luckily, Clara was a bit of both. "This?" She gestured all around them while walking backwards. "This is my hobby. But if you look me up. It'll be one rabbit hole after another. You don't need an addiction. You need to be a Doctor."
