Summary: Because of his financial worries, Kaveh feels pressured to accept jobs that he resents. It does him no good, and Alhaitham reaches his limits as to how he can help him.

I don’t wanna do this anymore.

Lately, this thought kept haunting Kaveh like one of those pesky mosquitoes which were so typical for the summers in the Sumeru rainforest. It sneaked up to him as soon as he let his guard down, and it was at least as annoying as the sound of the bloodsucking insects flying close to one’s ear in the dark of the night. It felt draining, tiring and exhausting, and Kaveh just did not know how to get rid of it.

It was not even a new feeling. Quite the opposite. Kaveh had known these kinds of thoughts for half his life. He had experienced them for the first time after his father had disappeared, leaving him behind with a guilty conscience and a mother who seemed to be too sad to go on. He had felt it as a student, when his academic project with Alhaitham was about to go down the drain. It had been the worst after he had lost everything because of the sad incident with the Palace of Alcazarzaray. And every single time it had been his passion for architecture which had saved him. 

As a child, after he had lost his father, dreaming of all the beautiful buildings he would be able to construct one day had been his personal escape. He had spent hours locked up in his room, drawing fervently into his sketchbook. Looking back now, these sketches were of course full of flaws and mistakes, but he still believed that this had been the time where his own unique style had started to develop.

Later, during his Akademiya days and the straining project with Alhaitham, he had put everything he got into his studies, and all of his struggles had seemed only half as hard with the goal he was striving to reach right in front of him.

Back then, Kaveh would never have imagined that his Magnum Opus would at the same time be the turning point for his whole life. He was still exceptionally proud of the palace he designed and was convinced that he would not act differently if he somehow met a genie in a bottle and got the chance to relive what happened during the building process, but still, ever since that day, sometimes Kaveh felt so, so tired.

He was tired of the long discussions with his clients who did not understand his vision at all, but held the power to force him to give in to their stupid ideas because they offered the payment he needed. He was tired of not being able to ask his friends out in bad months because he could not afford it. He was tired of hiding the fact that he did not even have a place to stay of his own. And somehow, he was starting to lose the confidence that everything might eventually get better one day, because it only ever seemed to get worse.

Today, for example. Kaveh had been sitting at his desk for hours, but the only progress he had made with his blueprint were four simple lines on the paper. A plain rectangle. Every child in Sumeru would have managed better. 

He had not even wanted to take this order in the first place. The client was a suspicious man. Kaveh had not liked him the moment he had seen him for the first time, and it had only gotten worse during their business talks. He had made Kaveh feel that he did not give a damn about his idea of aesthetics, but that he just wanted to buy a building carrying the name of the star of the Ksharewar. Kaveh had wanted to refuse like he had always done before in such cases, but he was not blind to his own situation. He had to pay his rent soon, and the day Dori would come asking for her monthly rate was approaching, too, and Kaveh was so broke that he even had to refuse to go to the market to buy groceries for him and Alhaitham because he could not have afforded them. He had rarely been as ashamed as when he had made up an excuse for his roommate, but he really did not want him to know. 

Alhaitham had never understood Kaveh’s way of thinking, and he would surely only have mocked him with this. The thought seemed unbearable for Kaveh.

Unfortunately, it had only led him to the misery he found himself in now.

Lady Oscar Fracois de Jarjayes (Rose of Versailles) vs Lady Maria (Bloodborne)

She is the commander of the royal guard of the Versailles Palace, also the bodyguard of the Queen Marie Antoniette, she has a thin sword and excels with it to the point that one of the first plot points is how she can defeat any man while also embracing being a woman; I love her and she gets all the ladies at court flustered, very gnc character she is described both as handsome and beautiful and she is so cool and techaes another girl to fight with swords and she cucks the monarchy when discivering the inequality outside the palace :v idk i just think she is iconic

I'll argue that Lady Oscar is *the* pioneer for sword women in shoujo anime, she walked so Utena could run, and inspired a bunch of other anime outside the demographic, like Beserk. TLDR Lady Oscar is one of the best female leads with a sword; She's hot. I feel like the 70's-80's era of anime is often neglected. Swords. I'll be surprised if no one else nominates Rose of Versailles.

If you think Utena is swordy, this woman INSPIRED her creation. She’s badass and better than everyone at the sword; Everyone is in love with her. And I mean EVERYONE. Also, Rococo aesthetic and gorgeous artwork, AND she’s a big BIG deal in early shoujo and still is.

Lady MariaShe has a double-bladed sword called Rakuyo that can split in two to be dual-wielded; She's haunting the narrative and the whole game foreshadows her existenceShe wields the rakuyo, twin-bladed trick weapon that can transform into a matching katana and dagger, making it a versatile weapon; She one of the highest-ranked Hunters in the game, and fights like an experienced PVP opponent. During the boss fight against her, she stabs herself twice, first to bloody her blades and increase the range of her attacks, and the second time to cause her blades to emit flame when she strikes. Finally, she starts off the boss fight with this quote: "A corpse, should be left well alone. Oh, I know very well how the secrets beckon so sweetly. Only an honest death will cure you now. Liberate you from your wild curiosity."She fights with a sick twin bladed sword which can split into two smaller swords, She was too hard and I couldn't beat her :'(Duel wielding sword and dagger that combine as a twin blade; Best boss in the game. Also taller than your character by a full head. Her outfit is fashion as fuck as well.

Yes let's daydream.... My perfect magical home... I want an old brick house. I like gothic, victorian, Art nouveau or even older architecture styles. A huge garden full of flowers and vegetables, fruits and animals. I want sooo many trees everywhere. A pond with water lillies. A forest full of bluebells. I want to see birds and deer around all year. I want old and beautiful things. Pretty wallpaper and cute kitchen tiles. Wood floor. So many paintings and collections of little pretty things. Stars on the ceiling of the bedroom. A guest room. Living room with a green velvet Couch. A greenhouse. A country cottagecore kitchen. A mermaid bathroom. A magical secret maybe a fae forest around, a dragon sleeping in the cellar guarding my gold, nymphs in the pond, dryads in the trees, ghost in the attic. All supernatural being are welcome. im thinking hers would be a haunted house or something? one of those old mansion type things from meiji restoration era, goin for that aesthetic cuz her showtime with joker gives me those vibes

its a haunted hause cuz shes possessed by her sister...ahaha...maybe not very creative but i think it fits; sumire haunted by everyday objects that kasumi used to use, sumire replacing her own parts by her sister's.

i did think maybe it strays too far from the whole gymnastics thing but its only the starting point of the rabbit hole that is sumire wants to be like kasumi; it probably started off as sumire wanting to be like kasumi cuz shes better than her in gymnastics, then she thinks kasumi is better than her as a person.

obv maruki doesnt do the actualization thing here, maybe he doesnt exist in this au at all lol

so the distortion is her acting like she is kasumi, all on her own without any of the actualization, so that would result in a more turbulent relationship with her sense of self. its her way of telling herself that sumire should've been the one to die, not kasumi, but now and then she does something a little too much like sumire and cant handle the guilt

Vague Plot — Crying in 9 (Island House)

Vague Plot’s jams shimmer like highways melting in the heat, running straight on through Kansas or Nebraska until they disappear in the undecipherable distance. Which is to say, they go on for while, repeating the same short grooves ad infinitum, with modest changes, until the measures blow by like mile markers and the journey transcends itself.

“Moto” which opens, metes out the time in sharp, strummed intervals, a little syncopation marking irregular edges in the tick-tocky flow. And within that context, a sax can wail, a guitar can howl, a lick can bloom and fade and collapse in distortion. There’s order so that disorder can grow, a white picket fence around wild tangles of vegetation.

Vague Plot is made up of New York City avant-indie regulars, veterans of other bands, who got together to make driving, moving, long-form instrumental music a la Can and Popul Vuh during the pandemic. The one you’d probably pick out of a line-up first is Zachary Cale, here one of two guitarists, alongside Uriah Theriaultof Woodsy Pride. Phil Jacob of Psychic Lines plays the sax sometimes and a keyboard otherwise, while Ben Copperhead plays bass and John Studer drums.

The music grows contemplative in blues-tinged “Haunted Head” before spinning off into psychotropic grooves, like some weird mesh of Loren Connors and Om. It attains purity in the slow-evolving tones of closer “Windswept” which has a bit of Kluster in its crystalline lucidity.

You might think, with Cale involved, that there’s be a rustic rocker thread in Vague Plot’s aesthetic, a little Neil Young crashing through the motorisms. There mostly isn’t, sorry to disappoint, except oddly enough, on the tape’s best cut, “Cyclic.” Here Jacob’s sax wanders in and around a heavy groove that’s ever so slightly shaded with country rock tones. It’s a puzzle palace, a metronomic experiment in extended pulse, but with a ragged heart, and it’s the wildest and most excellent part of an excellent little album. Fuck the cowbell. Let’s have more guitar.
