i think i have a completely different definition of 'cringe' to everyone else bc i don't think there's anything wrong at all with like grown adults loving kid's stuff, but i cringe hard when they're into shit with tonnes of rape and other abuse in it or simp for serial killers
#personal crap#and yeah ik obviously you're just as likely to be a horrible person if you like the former as the latter#but I'll probably have more nice interactions with you in the meantime if you're into the former than the latter#also frankly even when people do the 'but it's pointing out that stuff is bad!!' spheal my response is always#'so why do you need to be told that by some edgy piece of media?'

"Why do you like Silco from arcane SOOOOO much ?"
Well... number one: father figure of a character i KIN
Number two: his back story is the perfect exemple of ascending into...pure rage and unforgiveness like:
WARNING ARCANE S2 SPOILER !:
He was just a guy who worked with his brother in the mines and both were friends with Vi and Powder/Jinx mother (Felicia) ... yes he was a revolutionary , yes he was like "im too punk and edgy and cool for caring about the future ! Lets make Zaun !" Which was understandable i mean you live in a poor shitty undercity and you are looked down by the Pilities who never have to worry while you are in the slums worried if you will even have a tomorrow (lack of food n water / contaminated food n water , live in the streets for the most unlucky ones etc etc) and the Topside wont hear you , if course you go "FUCK IT LETS RIOT !" ... as we all know Silco fought on the bridge with Vander and Felicia (well maybe she didnt wanna fight because she had Vi and Powder/Jinx so maybe she was with them because she had to run from enforcers ?) ... and Felicia died (we dont know if Silco accidentally killed her wanting to punch an enforcer but in his "high" of "OH MY GOD IM PUNCHING EVERYONE !" or she was already dead (i think its the second option because we can see his face drop as he sees Felicia lifeless like "...no no no hey no this isnt supposed to happen !") ..) , Vander saw Silco at the wrong moment wrong time , and decided to just attack him...
Now just imagine that: you are fighting for your life and your people's lives , and you see your bestfriend dead , and you try to process that shit all while you have raging enforcers running at you wanting to arrest/kill you , and on top of that you have no time to explain or you simply cant explain to your brother why and how y'all best friend died ... and this brother of yours decides to attack you and kill you in the worse ways (drowning + gauging your left eye out) ... all you can think about is "i lost everyone... he hates me ! They all hate me! i hate them all ! Betrayers !" , you dont have time to think "its a misunderstanding ... its gonna be okay" ...
Of course i aint condoneing everything , im just stating the facts like...of course he would turn out this way after that crap ! The opposite woulda surprised me !
Also despite his "im a fucking menace" act... you can see when Vander attacks him again in S1 A3 , his first reaction is to FREEZE and have flashbacks of him being drowned again... THAT GUY STILL GETS MF PTSD LIKE DUDE GO TO THERAPY AND CALM YOUR TITS ! (He has to shake himself off like "WAKE UP HE IS GONNA KILL YOU !" to react)
(No i wont mention how...lame the excuse letter was , i mean , I know vander is shit at this (thats what he says in the letter too bwaha) but...he could have maybe asked for Benzo or someone else to help him write the letter for Silco ? Like instead of just "yeah uhm im sorry uhm...find me at the bar eh ?" (Which would have infuriated Silco even more imo , like imagine you get disfigurated and almost killed and the person who did that gives you a poor piece of paper ? He would have gone like "OH YEAH IM COMING TO THE MF LAST DROP AND IM GONNA KICK HIS DAMN ASS !" instead of "...mehhh fine okay") like an actual "lets have a talk...like two adults" one-)
Thankyou for assisting an episode of: Jinx takes a globally insignificant thing too much at heart !
- Jinx out
#arcane#arcane lol#silco#arcane silco#young silco arcane#vander#I understand that motherfucker#anyways he is a hot bastard#and my father figure#i like him#i have daddy issues and idk which one#.

What headcanons would you have for Alice or Jen in Agatha All Along? :)
Alice was a mama's girl despite their difficult relationship. Her mother was much better at showing her love for Alice than Evanora was at showing hers (if there ever was any love for Agatha) but she focused so much on breaking a curse that Alice was certain was never actually real. Alice still craved her attention, always proud to show her something she made or playing her a new song that she learned.
Alice is not a morning person. She was the one who signed up for graveyard shifts as a cop. She thrived on late nights, the moon giving her more energy. She was always happy to take somebody's late night shifts for them. She sometimes had to work mornings, which made her long for the sweet release of Death.
Despite her moody, edgy style, she needs a crap ton of sugar in her coffee. She cannot drink it black like her co-workers always did. They teased her for this, but she was fine with her Cinnamon Dolce lattes, thank you very much.
That tattoo was not her mother's idea, originally. Alice saw her mother stressing out over the curse and looked up ways that she could protect herself in a more permanent way than wearing a necklace she may lose or something else like that. So she looked up the symbol and showed her mother, who didn't even hesitate to book her with a friend. Lorna held her hand the entire time, and Alice forced herself not to cry from the pain, trying to be brave for her mother.
Alice visited her mother's grave (which wasn't a real grave bc she didn't have enough of her mother to bury) on every major holiday, leaving flowers and crystals (because her mother believed in their power) and talking to her about how her life is going.
She had a cat, named Cheeto, who was the most orange cat you ever met. She loved him, though. She found him while working, when he was still a kitten. She fell in love with him immediately and brought him home with her after her shift ended. She told Jen about him before she died. Jen goes to her apartment after getting off The Road, and takes Cheeto home with her, honoring Alice in the only way she can.
Jen is almost the opposite of Alice.
She is a morning person. She likes to wake with the sun and do yoga and all that healthy shit. She has a brand to uphold, after all.
She does GRWM videos all the time, showing people what she puts in her organic smoothies (cutting out the part where she puts in protein powder that nobody can know she uses) and egg-white omelettes. She's a vegetarian onscreen only.
Again, it's her brand. Her last name is literally a vegetable (she makes cannibalism jokes when she adds kale to her smoothies).
She's always been openly bisexual and has several pieces of art that reflect that in her home. She laments about her dating life a lot online and has gotten several offers from her fans to be taken on dates. She almost always declines, but she's touched obviously by the interest.
She and Agatha had a situationship. Jen started to catch feelings, but Agatha was closed off emotionally because she was still hung up on Rio and the pain she'd caused. When Jen tried to get closer, Agatha pushed her away and was not nice about it. She figured it'd be easier if Jen hated her. Jen was definitely bitter, which is why she believed every bad thing that anybody had to say about Agatha, including that she traded away her own son for the Darkhold.
She bound herself, I think. I think Agatha was lying about having bound her in the 1920's. Not that I don't think she would have done that for money (she'd probably do it for shits and giggles tbh) but I don't think Agatha actually did it to Jen. I think Jen was so traumatized by the men who tried to bind her that she actually end up binding herself. She just convinced herself that it was them that bound her because it was the easier solution.
Jen genuinely loves hiking. It's the best way to unplug and just be herself for a little bit. She'll go to the nearest mountain and just walk for miles until she gets tired. She loves watching sunsets on these hikes. She also secretly loves camping because it reminds her of the years she had to spend living off the land as a younger witch.
She also really loves spas. She has a standing bi-weekly appointment at her local spa. She's a complicated person.
If Alice had lived, there's no doubt in my mind that she and Jen would have become a thing. Opposites attract and all that. They both have trauma, even if it's different kinds of trauma. I think they'd make a good pair.
Agatha would tease them and claim to be the reason they got together. She wouldn't exactly be wrong.

Tickletober Day 5- Boo!
Lee: Raphael
Ler: Master Splinter
TW!: SOME SWEARING!
October was a month that seemed to awaken something in the Splinterson family. Some more than others.
Mikey and Leo both loved decorating the lair and watching movies, Donnie loved listening to halloween music, Master Splinter loved doing festive activities with his sons..
And Raph loved scaring the crap out of his brothers.
Every year, he made it a point to hide in every corner, nook, and cranny, and then practically jump whoever was nearest to his spot. Sure, it annoyed everyone, but it's part of Halloween! Even if it was literally twenty-six days away..
Anyways, that's what he was doing, perched on a pipe above his pops, who was comfortably lounging in the living room, watching his soaps. Was it a bit risky trying to scare him? Yeah.. probably. But was it worth it?
..Maybe?
Raphael timed his jump carefully. He would have to land close enough to his father to startle him, but not close enough to be posed as a threat and get his ass whooped. 'One.. two.. three!'
The sai-user hopped down from his spot, just about to yell his little phrase for when he'd scare his family, but was interrupted mid-jump as Splinter seemed to have already known where he was, and flip him so that he was sprawled across his father's lap, laying on his stomach.
"BOO- Woaah!"
"Good try, my son, but you lack one important piece of knowledge... I have good reflexes." The rat mutant went to scribble over his sides, and Raph's eyes immediately went wide, biting his lip to keep from laughing. His arms went to grab his father's hands, but was immediate stopped by a squeeze to the back of his neck. It was now that he realized how vulnerable of a spot he was put into.
With sharp nails scratching at his side, and his neck, Raph had no chance of holding in the giggles that were bubbling up. "Ahah! Wait juhust'aha secohond!"
Splinter smiled. It was good to see his edgy-son laughing, even if he did need to force it juuust a little. He moved from his side to his shell, thinking about how such bright laughter would usually result from that spot. Almost as if on cue, the red-themed turtle reached to cover his face, though his laughter slipped through his fingers, warming his father's heart to hear the happy sound.
Fingers traced at the scutes of the turtle's shell, and he snorted between his laughter. "Pohops.. Lehehemmehe- SNRT! goho!"
When his son's face was flushed pink, shoulders scrunched and legs kicking out behind him, Splinter decided to give him a break, instead going to wrap his arms around him. Raph snorted again at the embrace, half expecting more tickles, but eventually calmed down, hugging his dad back.
It would've been a strange sight to anyone who didn't know the context of the situation, seeing a huge hot-headed teen cradled in the lap of his elderly father, but neither cared in the slightest. Their lives were strange, why not embrace it?

What If One Piece had an LA-based Dub? (Part 1)
So recently, I’ve been talking with some friends on Discord about One Piece, specifically about its’ English dubs.
And essentially, we feel like that One Piece hasn't really gotten the best treatment when it comes to English dubs.
Like, we already know the travesty that was 4Kids.
But this also applies to their long-standing and current dubbers, Funimation.
This is probably a controversial opinion, but I don't think they were the best choice to dub One Piece.
Like, yes, they are of much higher quality when compared to 4Kids.
But even then….
For starters, I feel like there's a lot of miscasting here. Even among the main cast.
Probably the most obvious being in the case of Christopher Sabat as Zoro.
He just makes him sound way too old. He's suppose to be a young man.
I can't be the only one who thinks that it sounds too much like Piccolo.
And finally, I feel like Funimation's dubbing is a bit too…..straightforward (if that makes sense).
After rewatching the 4Kids dub, I've grown a sense of appreciation for it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still not that good.
But I feel like there’s some elements that they do better than Funimation.
In contrast to the Funimation dub, a lot of the performances have a little more life and energy to them.
Even if they're not all that good…..
One thing I really like is that many of the characters have accents, which just feels right given how the whole premise of the series is about traveling the world..
This is made even better when you get remember the Netflix adaptation, which gave a lot of characters accents, including the main ones!
Plus, 4Kids is just much better at handling the frequent comedic and silly moments.
Hell, why do you think this scene blew up in popularity?
youtube
Plus, they did a slightly better job at translating some scenes to English and not having them come off as a direct, one-to-one translation.
It's a little hard to explain, but essentially they keep what was said in the original Japanese version and kinda give their own flair to it.
But with this discussion, being the idea man that I am, it gave me the idea of an alternate timeline.
One where One Piece wasn’t picked up by 4Kids or Funimation.
But instead, it was picked up by Viz Media, who would commission an English dub out of the voice acting capital of the world: Los Angeles, California!
I feel like this alternate timeline would not only give us a much better dub than the other two, especially 4Kids.
But also do the franchise a LOT of favors....
If you know One Piece, you'd known that the series had a hard time catching up in popularity in the West.
It was 2000s. The decade was all about making everything cool, hip and edgy.
And anime was one of the prime contributors to this trend.
Plus during that time, a lot of anime fans had this stigma against Western animation, seeing it as nothing but kiddy shit.
These people are the one of the reasons why we have crap like this.....
And since One Piece is famous for having an incredibly cartoonish art-style and world, it did not do it any favors.
Made even worse with the 4Kids dub, which infamously kidified the anime to absolute HELL.
However, I feel this dub would counteract that.
The dub itself would premiere on June 2nd, 2003 on Cartoon Network as part of Toonami.
And although the would probably have some censorship, it would be NOWHERE near the level of 4Kids.
Plus, from what I've seen, anime that aired on Toonami was able to get away with a lot more explicit content due to it's clear aiming at older audiences.
For the East Blue Saga, the dub would air new episodes every week, Monday through Friday.
That's what we're gonna be covering for this part.
As we go through each arc, I'll be sharing my voice choices for the major characters in each of them.
So without further ado, let's set sail!
Romance Dawn (June 2nd-June 4th, 2003):
Starting off this showcase we have our main star the future king of the pirates himself, Monkey D. Luffy!
When thinking of a voice for Luffy, I wanted him to still be voiced by a female.
And one of the major female VAs, I've come to a tie on who would be good voice for Luffy.
And that tie is between Colleen O'Shaughnessy and Kari Wahlgren.
Between the two of them, I think their voices both perfectly fit the type of voice Luffy would have.
Pretty goofy and silly while still being able to do the more serious and emotional moments well.
And while you can still tell they're a woman, they're still able to convincingly sound like a boy.
I think the coolest thing about this choice would be that in the case of Kari, this would be one of her earliest voice acting roles, as she entered the realm of voicework in the prior year of 2002.
And about a year into her career, she would find herself becoming the official English voice of one of the most famous and revered protagonists in anime/manga history!
Next we come to Koby, who would be voiced by Pamela Adlon.
Oh yeah, let’s talk about that real quick.
In contrast to other anime dubs, this one would primarily feature voice actors typically found in Western animation.
I feel like this would make One Piece stand among the crowd, and it kinda fits since the main character himself does draw heavy influence from the Golden Age of Western Animation.
As for why I choose Pamela, especially since Koby pre-Marines was shown to have a whiny sounding voice, was because I was coming at this with the knowledge of his post-Marines look.
I’m not a fan of how the Funimation Dub gave him a new voice after we were reintroduced to him, whereas the original Japanese version kept his voice actress.
So I wanted to do the same thing they did.
I feel that Pamela was the best option.
She’s known for having a noticeably deeper and hoarse voice when compared to most female VAs.
Hence she’s famous for voicing a lot of male characters, particularly boys.
As for her performance as pre-Marine Koby, it would be pretty similar to her performance as Otto Osworth from Time Squad….which is funnily enough, a Cartoon Network show.
Now we come to Alvida, who would be voiced by Wendee Lee.
And yes, she would voice both forms of her.
Her original fat form, and current slim form.
Now we've come to the second member of the Straw Hats, Roronoa Zoro!
He would be (at least for now) voiced by Ben Diskin.
His performance would be sound like a slightly more serious version of, and I can't believe I'm actually referencing this guy, Ban from The Seven Deadly Sins.
One cool thing about Ben voicing Zoro would be that he would bring a lot of authenticity to the role, since he would've been around Zoro's age at the time of dub's release (20-21 years old).
Also, this would really funny to think about since around this time, Ben was voicing Numbuh 1 and 2 on Codename: Kids Next Door, another Cartoon Network show.
Rika would be voiced by Kath Soucie, essentially sounding like a slightly older Lil Deville from Rugrats.
Helmeppo would be voiced by Jeff Bennett, who would definitely sound like the recent gay shipping icon as of late, Bradley Uppercrust III.
Like, you can't tell me that his voice wouldn't fit Helmeppo like a glove.
And in just you don't believe me, here are some clips to prove my point.
youtube
Next we come to his father, Axe Hand Morgan, who would be voiced by Jim Cummings.
And for his role, Jim would definitely use his serious voice that he uses with characters such as Mister Moloch in Project G.e.e.K.e.R. and Hernán Cortés in The Road to El Dorado.
Now to come to Red-Haired Shanks, who would be voiced by Steve Blum doing a Cockney accent.
Yeah, he's basically gonna sound like a swashbuckling Spike Spiegel.
Which actually sounds pretty cool....
As for the rest of the main Red-Haired Pirates.
Benn Beckman would be voiced by Wally Wingert.
Lucky Roux would be voiced by Bill Fagerbakke.
And Yasopp would be voiced by James Arnold Taylor.
And finally, we have Higuma, who would be voiced by Rob Paulsen.
Orange Town (June 5th-June 10th, 2003):
First start off come to the third member of the Straw Hats, Nami.
Nami would be voiced by Kate Higgins.
Who weirdly enough, when it comes to LA voice fan-casting for One Piece, she's always the one to get picked for Nami.
And I can totally see why.
She would definitely fit the character.
Next we come to the big bad of the arc himself, Buggy the Clown.
Originally, I was gonna have Mark Hamill voice him.
But I figured that would've been too easy and too obvious.
So instead, I decided to choose Steve Blum as the voice of the character.
His performance would be pretty reminiscent to that of The Green Goblin in The Spectacular Spider-Man, but a little more silly sounding.
Even his laugh would be pretty similar to Gobby's.
youtube
Plus, Buggy's casting choice is pretty funny to think about since as I mentioned earlier, Steve would also be voicing Shanks.
Which would make Buggy's pure adulterated hatred for him even funnier.
As for his main crew members.
Mohji would be voiced by Liam O'Brien, essentially using the same voice he used for Zazz in Sonic Lost World.
Cabaji would be voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, using an Eastern European accent.
And Ritchie would have his vocals provided by Frank Walker.
As for the one notable characters of this arc.
Chouchou would have his vocals provided by Dee Bradley Baker.
And Boodle would be voiced by Tom Kane.
Who was also voicing Professor Utonium on The Powerpuff Girls around this time.
Syrup Village (June 11th-June 24th, 2003):
First we have the fourth member of the Straw Hats, Usopp.
Just like with Luffy, I have two VAs in mind that could voice the God himself.
James Arnold Taylor and Jason Marsden.
Both of them would strike that perfect balance of being able to sound silly while knowing when to take it seriously.
Also, if JAT was voicing Usopp, he would essentially sound like a younger version of his own dad.
Kaya would be voiced by Tara Strong.
The Usopp Pirates would be voiced by Grey Griffin (Ninjin), Colleen O'Shaughnessy (Pilman), and Nancy Cartwright (Tamanegi) respectively.
Jeff Bennett would also be voicing Merry.
Dee Bradley Baker would also be voicing the big bad of the arc, Kuro.
Jango would be voiced by Phil LaMarr, who would doing a what could be best described as a knock-off Michael Jackson impression.
Which, let's be real, would fit the character perfectly.
Phil would also be pulling double duty as Siam, with the other half of the Nyaban Brothers, Butchie, being voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.
And finally, we have Gaimon, who would be voiced by Charlie Adler.
Baratie (June 25th-July 10th, 2003):
Starting this off we have Kuina, who would be voiced by Grey Griffin.
Shimotsuki Koushirou would be voiced by Phil LaMarr, essentially using the same voice he uses for Samurai Jack.
Now we come to Johnny and Yosaku.
Johnny would be voiced by Nolan North, while Yosaku would be voiced by Mikey Kelley.
So essentially we have Raphael and Michaelangelo tagging along with the Straw Hats.
Finally, we've come to the fifth member of the Straw Hats (and the last one as of right now), Sanji.
Sanji would be voiced by Josh Keaton.
And just like with Ben as Zoro, Josh would bring a lot of authenticity to his performance (given that he would've been 23-24 at the time)
Also, we all know how Zoro and Sanji are rivals.
This would be funny to think about since this wouldn't be last time Ben and Josh would voice a duo of rivals.
Zeff would be voiced by Clancy Brown, essentially sounding like a slightly more serious Brooklyn version of Mr. Krabs.
We would also have John DiMaggio playing double duty as both Don Krieg and Fullbody.
Ghin would be voiced by Crispin Freeman.
Patty and Carne would be voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson and Tom Kenny respectively.
Pearl would be voiced by Jess Harnell.
And Hawk-Eye Mihawk would be voiced Lex Lang, doing a French accent.
Arlong Park (July 11th-July 31st, 2003):
Starting this off, we have Arlong himself, who would be voiced by Fred Tatasciore, which will be really funny to think about once we get to you-know-who.
As for the rest of main crew.
Kuroobi would be voiced by Doug Erholtz.
Hatchan would be voiced by Bill Fagerbakke.
And Chew would be voiced by Jeff Bennett
Nojiko would be voiced by Michelle Ruff.
Genzo would be voiced by Cam Clarke.
Bellemere would be voiced by Vanessa Marshall.
Which would be really weird to think about since she was on Cartoon Network's latest original series at the time, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, voicing this guy....
youtube
Well I'm pretty sure I just ruined Bellemere's death for most of you now since it's hard not her with the voice of Irwin now......
Anyway, Nezmui would be voiced by Tony Oliver, essentially sounding like an evil version of Lupin III.
Or how he was in the original manga....
And Moomo would have his vocals provided by Frank Welker.
Buggy's Adventure (August 1st-4th, 2003):
I don't really have anything to say for this one except that it will be part of the dub.
Roguetown (August 5th-12th, 2003):
Starting this off we have Smoker, who would be voiced by James Arnold Taylor, essentially sounding pretty similar to Walker from Danny Phantom, but without the Southern accent.
Next we have Tashigi, who would voiced by Karen Strassman.
Daddy the Father would be voiced by Jeff Bennett.
Five-Alarm Carmen would be voiced by Candi Milo.
And finally, we have Dragon, who would be voiced by Dave Wittenberg.
Well, that's all I have for now.
It's not the most detailed post I've made, but I thought it was fun to do.
Plus, I always like to showcase by knowledge of voice actors.
Which speaking of, I'm not sure how this post will do since I'm not sure how knowledgeable of voice actors any of the potential viewers are.
But hey, I'll just have to wait and find out.
Anyway, let me know what you think about this alternate timeline I created.
And for the two choices I had for Luffy and Usopp, who do you think would be the best choice for them?
And finally, I really hope @mysticalchildsuit actually likes this post since the last time I made a post about One Piece....they were.....

edit: finally finished The Thing I Was Busy With and updates are currently ongoing!!
hello!
sorry about the lack of updates, i'm working on a irl project that i need to finish before my poor laptop crumbles to dust, so right now everything i've written lately is, you know, handwritten crumbs of drafts that i'm going to cry about when it's finally time to clean them up
but! i am almost, almost, done with said project, and since i failed horribly my new year's resolution of uploading one (1) thing per month (ambitious, i know), i decided i would simply upload/update 12 whichever-things before the year's end
this of course means that most of it is going to be bad, as in quality, and also quantity of words bc i need to tap my vast reserves of wips and that's a lot of minifics and orphan scribbles with no plot or a proper ending, sorry o( ̄┰ ̄*)ゞ
still, twelve things! at least that's the plan; and since i've abandoned you for pretty much this whole year, below are some snippets
first, let's start with some stuff i do actually care about so there will be some effort here:
1) a constellation of blood drops IT'S HERE!
Gaelio has already played the zealot before Rustal Elion, it should hardly be a difficult thing to play such role again. If the object of his zealotry has shifted just enough to align with Elion's own interest, no doubt twisted by the very real flaws of the organization he was, oh, so willing to worship before, and how it had only proven to fall short of his expectations after his, oh, so harrowing experiences while undercover—well, people are always willing to see what they want to see. Gaelio won't be even lying, really.
it makes me happy whenever i see someone like or reblog this thing bc it's just one of my favorite self-indulgent whims
2) Start, From Minus ON AO3!
Emilia took it upon herself to arrange their little detour to Margrave Mathers’ Mansion; but really, she needn’t have bothered. Cecilius had little to no problem waltzing right past the security of any place regardless of invitation, and the only thing currently preventing him from doing that was Subaru. Exhibit A: if Subaru hadn’t crash-landed into his life, there was a very good chance that at some point he would have crossed the border between the Empire and the Kingdom to demand a rematch from Reinhard, and he probably would have succeeded out of sheer stubbornness, the crazy bastard.
yes, finally! (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
3) with all the pieces of the broken-hearted ON AO3!
The whole situation is absolute crap because Subaru is not, and has not been for quite some time, some dissatisfied, edgy teen craving fame and attention and maybe a harem in some other world more interesting than regular, boring Planet Earth. He’s very much been there, done that, gotten over it, so this whole thing is at least ten years too late and happening at the very worst moment possible. Maybe second-worst, but only just.
i don't like the sloth if for many reasons, but it gave me the canon hilarity of subaru having dilf potential and i am choosing to make this everyone's problem
4) just a little bit of blood in your hands ON AO3!
His door has seven bolts, huge and heavy and all on the outside. The only safety his room offers is that no one would dare to cross the one who owns the keys to those locks. Subaru is a treasured possession, but a possession nonetheless.
new re:zero thing!
things that are going to be rushed or just make me go 'whatever, i just don't want to look at this wip anymore':
5) these brilliant-hued hibiscus ON AO3!
Atsushi mows through everything the festival has to offer in terms of food. Tanizaki feeds him hot takoyaki, dripping with sauce, a chocobanana with sprinkles, sweet-bean taiyakis for good luck, sticks of yakitori, sticky and pastel pink cotton candy, shaved ice and even candy apples, shining under the festival lights. Between him and Ranpo, he’s sure they’ll make all the food-stalls generate at least some profit.
this is another super indulgent minific collection to the surprise of no one
8) (we’ve gone) to the dogs
His life ends with a bullet between his eyes, no hope for Yosano to do anything at all. Just a bang and then darkness; a shimmering instant of relief before he opens his eyes again in a place and time that hadn’t been his for years. And that’s where it all begins (again).
i am cheating a little bit here, bc i posted a snippet here back in the day that i decided could be part of yet another minific-oneshot collection, which is my jam
7) A Superscription ON AO3!
Ren’s mouth twists to the side, a facsimile of a smile so empty it’s like being back in the interrogation room all over again.
I have a bunch of P5 minifics written, but I'm happy with none of them, so I'll probably wait until november or something so I have an excuse to chuck them in bulk at you and this is one
some indeterminate stuff I will have to scramble to put together:
8) remember me (but forget my fate) ON AO3!
Something for Lout of the Count's family to celebrate the official translation! It's probably going to be either crack or a fairy tale retelling, I'm afraid
Ok, so it's not crack (exactly), and it's definitely not a fairy tale either (although now I do have WIPs for both of those things), but at least it's something and it's UP!!
9) The Souls of Starfishes
They’ve gotten better at not flinching whenever they hear the name, but they’ve never quite managed to stomp out the hope that inevitably rises in them whenever they do. ‘Hajime’, it echoes with the beat of their hearts, discordant as they may be.
Normal Me and Abnormal Friends is one of my favorite android visual novels ever, and I really, really want to finally upload something for it
and lastly, things that are mostly finished, but never got around seeing the light of day bc i forgot or lost interest or cringe whenever i think about them (sorry):
10) To Have and To Hoard ON AO3!
What Subaru knew: Subaru had died around the same time in the last five or six loops. What had happened: The time when Subaru was supposed to die had come and gone and Subaru was, against all odds, still alive. Conclusion: Subaru had screwed something up, pun somewhat intended.
the very first reinhard/subaru plot i came up with and the worst one, too. i just don't want to have its ghost haunting me anymore :/
11) brittle branches ON AO3!!
What could Victor hope to do faced with the depth of such love? A love that Yuuri had chosen to hold on to, to fight for, to cherish and protect and all things Victor wished to do for him, before either of them were even aware of the other’s existence. Sometimes life is just not fair. Victor never even had a chance.
also cheating a little bit with this one, bc it's done and i posted here in tumblr a lifetime ago, but i guess i'll finally post it on ao3 with the little added coda i never got around writing before the movie got canned o(TヘTo)
12) our wishes are the right lure ON AO3!!
You wake up in a subway car. This isn’t super strange. Except you don’t remember getting on a subway, or falling asleep. And this interior, for all you have rode on the subway before, is very unfamiliar. It is for starters, absurdly clean. Suspicious.
ugh. alright. look, a couple of years ago, when i was in my all time PLA high playing pokemon masters ex, i said 'if i get this character in the gacha i will write a reader-insert', and i did get the character, and i did write the reader-inser, but it's just so silly. i am going to have to write another reader-insert at some point just so this is not the one associated with me, probably ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
so yeah, so far this is the plan. i'm also working on second chances (derogatory), but i've mostly finished the latter chapters, bc those were fun, and i decided to put it on hold until i get my hands on P3 Reload, sorry. there's also a minific AU collection but i don't have a lot yet, just concepts, AND my attempt at a New Game+ fic that's also on hold until i play Reload, sorry.

EHERM ahem…herm, anyways, this is last part of my Trigun Maximum vol 11 thoughts for @trigunbookclub!
Some thoughts on TriMax chap 69-70 under the cut!
YO, PEOPLE IN SHIPS! Maybe they can help deal with the Ark
I see, no wonder Knives’s hair isn’t turning more black despite using lots of his powers
Wait, is that lady also an independent plant too?
Anyways, back to that random dude that came and gave the last piece of coin (the last panels here are so random wth)
Emo edgy dramatic ass
Damn, Legato is so extra and dramatic
Reeeeeem, Vash said the B-word!
He said it! He said trans-woman!!! (☉□☉)
Wolfwood would be proud (๑´• .̫ •ू`๑)
Oh yeah, the plants are unsure if they wanna help Knives or not. They wanna help Knives because he’s a plant too but helping Knives would destroy humanity so what should they do?(◎ー◎;)
*Jojo music starts playing*
OH, she did NOT just talked crap about Wolfwood ( ・`⌓´・)
I thought this was the end of Livio but then I remember he was biologically modified to heal fast
Naaaah, the kids got so scared they peed they’re pants 😭
So this is how Livio gets his new drip
Oooooh, that’s the girl that Livio saved after falling and she even grew up to be a caretaker! (。•́‿•̀。) (She looks like Mito from Hunter x Hunter but with darker hair)
That’s all for TriMax vol 11! ((ε(*⌒▽⌒)†*゚¨゚゚・*
Bonus thoughts: Okay so, there are some people in ships and I have a feeling that Chronica lady is an independent plant or I could be wrong. Vash is gonna face Legato and his emo dramatic ass, so can’t wait to see the difference between that and the ’98 anime. Anyways, back to Livio! This volume is literally his redemption arc. His interactions with the kids made me go AAAAAAGH!!! (⁄ ⁄>⁄ ▽ ⁄<⁄ ⁄) He got a new reason to fight for. I just hope that Elendira doesn’t end him… (; ·`д·´)

A Review of Fixing RWBY V6
For most people in the FNDM, Fixing RWBY is simply "the Faunus heat fic"—known best for an idiotic bit of worldbuilding that's blatantly meant for cringeworthy fanservice bait. Delve past the surface, and you discover an utter narrative trainwreck wreathed in gross attitudes, terrible writing choices, and a weeaboo's objectification of Japanese culture. IT'S AN ONSEN YADDA YADDA
To give an idea of what previous volumes of Fixing RWBY have entailed: an idiotic rivalry between Nora and Pyrrha, Cardin getting bizarre amounts of focus, Celtic Phoenix cutting out Oscar to make Roman into Ozpin's (and Celtic Phoenix's) vessel, Yang not getting to falcon-punch a creep, said creep getting made into Raven's husband so Celtic Phoenix can take the Branwen tribe away from Raven and give it to him, a bathhouse scene where Roman spouts transphobic insults towards Weiss and Ren, and Vernal being remade into a cultural-appropriation daughteru who doesn't wear underwear.
Based on that alone, you would expect Volume 6 to be just as crap. And I decided to go through the whole darn thing, because RWBY "fix" fics aren't just hilariously shit, they're also blatantly telling of the kind of story people who complain about RWBY really want it to be. But I wasn't ready to discover not just how terrible of a writer Celtic Phoenix is, but what an utter piece of excrement he genuinely is.
But before we get into that aspect of Fixing RWBY V6, let's focus on the "subtle" part of why this series is a trainwreck, and not the kind that occurs because our female protagonist is allowed to have any agency whatsoever.
The writing
We'll start with the simplest part of this, that Fixing RWBY is utterly abysmally written in every way.
The pacing is atrocious. Celtic Phoenix pads out chapters with characters flapping their mouths about things that have no consequence for the story and which are never touched upon again. They meander about doing nothing to progress the story. For instance, the events of canon V6's first episode are dragged out over four episodes in Fixing RWBY, with character interactions that never receive any resolution. Blake and Yang's arc of reconciliation makes zero forward progress until it's abruptly glossed over at the very end of the volume, and Blake expresses distrust of Roman but never once defies his authority. Cardin and his team are given screentime that does nothing to progress the story or the main characters' arcs. The story is padded-out with scenes about side characters that add nothing to the plot or to any of the main cast's storylines, and which add nothing to the story by being present.
Celtic Phoenix is also completely incapable of proper foreshadowing. His version of the Brunswick Farms removes everything that builds up the Apathy's nature and powers, simply adding more dead bodies and meaningless ominous notes; as a result, the entire sequence would be nonsensical to anyone not already familiar with canon. He also tacks on an edgy side-effect to the Silver Eyes, with no build-up or hinting-at whatsoever despite Ruby making use of the Silver Eyes earlier in the chapter.
Characters also blatantly act in nonsensical and contrived ways for the sake of railroading the plot. Team RWBY are separated from their weapons for a significant period during the Argus Limited fight, but JNR gets theirs almost immediately. Cordovin immediately accepts Ruby's claims despite a complete lack of evidence supporting them, only for her to later withdraw her agreement, making this nonsensical decision pointless in the long run.
Celtic Phoenix also doesn't have any idea about logical and sensible worldbuilding as well. He creates "Mimic" Grimm that evolve from Apathy Grimm, despite there being zero relation between a Grimm that absorbs willpower and one that imitates people. The Silver Eyes' drawback is plainly tacked on for the sake of edginess, with no logical rationale behind the loss of memories due to using the powers.
Even when Celtic Phoenix isn't all-but-retreading the same story he claims to need to "fix everything" in, his ideas are blatantly stolen from RWBY itself. Cinder's backstory of repeatedly trying to kill Salem is ripped off from Hazel's backstory, as revealed in V8. The edgy drawback for the Silver Eyes is blatantly stolen from a plot point from Volume 9, which was airing during Fixing RWBY V6's release; the same characters react the exact same way as they do to the similar concept in V9, and Celtic Phoenix even has Yang later call Ruby "Rubes" as she does a few times in V9.
The conclusion of the volume drives home that Celtic Phoenix has no idea how to write a satisfying conclusion, let alone one that builds from what he's written previously. He introduces the above-mentioned edgy drawback for the Silver Eyes, only for it to be completely inconsequential because the main character and her teammates are rendered unnecessary to actually resolving the plot. Through contrived writing, Celtic Phoenix would rather have our protagonists watch as other people swoop in to save the day while they did relatively nothing.
So we've established that Celtic Phoenix is a terrible writer, simply on a technical level. But as anyone even vaguely aware of this series without being the kind of "critic" Celtic Phoenix is will know, the most glaring problems with Fixing RWBY lies in different aspects, which highlight how Celtic Phoenix isn't just a shitty writer but a shitty person as well.
The misogyny
Celtic Phoenix has Ruby, Weiss, and Yang play cards with Roman just so Roman can be better than them and gloat over it. He proceeds to have Cardin fucking Winchester try to coach Blake through reconciling with Yang, while teasing Cardin being paired with Velvet—treating Velvet as a reward to Cardin for not being a racist bully.
When Adam appears on the train, Team RWBY are immediately told by male characters to stay out of the way, and are the last to join in the fighting. They're treated as completely helpless before Adam, who would have attacked them had Qrow not saved them. Adam also causes the derailment of the Argus Limited, rather than it being Ruby's choice to protect the other passengers.
After the derailment, the male characters are far more competent at rescuing themselves and the female characters after they fall from the train. When they arrive at Brunswick Farms, Celtic Phoenix creates a new type of Grimm just to be a more dangerous threat that Roman and Qrow face while Team RWBY confronts the lesser Apathy.
Throughout the volume, and especially while in Argus, Team RWBY are frequently portrayed as being unable to get along, with petty insults and cattiness exchanged between them at the most minor and absurd provocations. In contrast, groups that are lead by and/or consist mostly of men are shown to have no problems cooperating or simply being friends. Even when Team RWBY supposedly reconciles, their interactions are bizarrely toxic, insulting, and judgemental towards each other.
When Adam attacks Argus, Team RWBY's immediate response is to flee from him. They are then all defeated by Adam solo, before he is anticlimactically taken out by a cattle prod to the back, following which Cordovin chews them out for being cowards.
Adam's entire portrayal constantly attempts to paint him as sympathetic, even after he has committed an act of mass destruction and murder, including the use of insinuated sexual abuse of his mother in an attempt to portray him as sympathetic. This stands in stark contrast to Ilia Amitola, who is portrayed as undeserving of forgiveness despite having thwarted Adam's previous attempt at mass murder.
Meanwhile Cordovin, who realized the error of her ways in canon, is rewritten into a coward who's willing to desert the people of Argus, doesn't get to serve as a direct combat antagonist at any point, and is ultimately defied by the soldiers under her—continuing a constant trend throughout Fixing RWBY of female characters being written into worse people and having status and authority stripped from them.
And at the climax of the volume, where in canon Ruby mustered the willpower to use the Silver Eyes to turn the tide against the Leviathan? Of course that doesn't happen in Fixing RWBY. Instead, the Atlas soldiers that just earlier were happy to up and leave everyone in Argus to die comes back to save the day. Even in the climax of the story does Celtic Phoenix take every opportunity to strip female characters of their accomplishments and involvement in the plot.
The racism
As mentioned above, Ilia's treatment as a woman of colour who is punished for extremist acts in pursuit of equality clashes blatantly with Adam's treatment, where Fixing RWBY tries to paint him as sympathetic even following him killing numerous people. This furthers the trend of Celtic Phoenix vilifying people of colour within the White Fang, while only having any empathy for the white man in the group.
Also mentioned above is the ship-tease between Cardin and Velvet, two characters whose only interaction in canon is Cardin hurting Velvet in an act of racially-motivated bullying. This plays to racist fantasies of white men being deserving of love from women of minority groups simply for not being outright abusive and prejudiced against them.
When Maria Calavera, a woman of colour with elements of Mexican ethnicity, offers to lead the protagonists to shelter after the train derailment, Roman Torchwick—whom the white male author blatantly uses as his self-insert—accuses Maria of plotting to steal their kidneys.
Arslan, a woman of colour who previously reappeared solely to cruelly mock Pyrrha's death, returns solely to be killed off by Cinder, a white woman. Celtic Phoenix then revealed in a Reddit post that he'd written her entire character around obsession with wanting to feel superior to Pyrrha, a white woman, to the point where it ultimately results in Arslan's death. (Note that nothing in the scenes where Arslan appears even hints at this motivation, thus driving home Celtic Phoenix's utter inability to show rather than tell.)
And the queerphobia
After Ren fends off a monster attacking Roman, Roman exclaims "My hero!" in a romantic fashion. This is the continuation of a piece of queerphobic "humour" from Fixing RWBY V5, where Roman says he thought Ren was a woman because he isn't masculine enough in Celtic Phoenix's eyes.
In addition, which characters who were involved in the airship theft had their roles entirely excised? Saphron and Terra, of course. Despite forcing Cardin and his teammates to the forefront repeatedly, even to the point of letting Cardin tell Blake to Stay In The Kitchen while he fought Adam, Celtic Phoenix minimizes the role two sapphic women play in Volume 6.
White men
Given all of the above, it's blatantly just how deeply bigotry is at the root of Celtic Phoenix's writing decisions. In fact, there is one specific word I'd use to describe Celtic Phoenix, as a person, as a writer, as a "critic" of RWBY:
Threatened.
Fixing RWBY V6 is the work of a white man who genuinely is threatened, who genuinely feels victimized by the story of RWBY. Fixing RWBY itself is the story of a man so offended by a story where the titular heroines are the actual protagonists that he reduces the lead character to a man's sidekick, treats the titular team as incapable of mere friendship, and has them run in terror from a male antagonist at every encounter.
In fact, white male insecurity is at the heart of just about every writing choice of Fixing RWBY, every change that Celtic Phoenix makes. There is not one single episode where Celtic Phoenix does NOT try to have white male characters upstage female characters. White male characters are always more capable of handling challenges than Team RWBY. White male characters are always more charismatic and cooperative and confident. White male characters are always treated as more deserving of respect and sympathy than anyone else. Team RWBY's accomplishments and growth are stripped from them, and whenever they do achieve anything, either a.) white male characters guided them, b.) white male characters did more than them, or c.) it was ultimately inconsequential anyway.
And whether or not they want to admit it to others or even themselves, the people who worked on and otherwise support Fixing RWBY approve of what Celtic Phoenix created because of that white-male self-importance. It doesn't matter what they claim to believe; they've shown through their support for Fixing RWBY that they believe that white men should be the only people who matter in any story. That a story about four brave heroines should instead be a story about how women can't get anything done by themselves. That people of colour should be reduced to snarling villains at worst and targets of racist nonsense from a white man's self-insert at best. That queer people should be swept under the rug so the story can focus on men being entitled to love from women.
All of that is how these people would "fix" RWBY.
#fixing rwby#rwby critics#rwby#misogyny in hatedom#racism in hatedom#queerphobia in hatedom#in conclusion: literally zero redeeming qualities whatsoever

I love your cute kata/maren stuff, but I'd also really love to hear about the angsty/starcrossed side of them you mentioned in the tags recently!
i thrive off negativity meme here
omg YES I've been thinking about how to answer this...I've come up with some more edgy AUs for them where one dies or they become enemies or other things, but I think the core of their relationship is not as carefree and cutesy as I've made it look in art so I just wanted to expand on that a little more 💜 writing about the pain of yearning combined with self loathing is something I've really wanted to tackle with them. so here's kind of a summary of their angst moment:
a big part of their canon story is this time period where they're spending all this time together and are absolutely butt headed about admitting they have feelings for the other. they're both very wrapped up in their own lives, they'll never try. maren is a married man (arranged to smoothie). katakuri gave up on love long ago. he's chosen to dedicate his life to protect his family instead.
maren realizes what's going on first--the first one to go, "oh fuck, i think about him before i go to sleep every night, i yearn to see him every second hes not around. it hurts. this has transcended friendship. i never asked for this." he knows his marriage to smoothie is an absolute fucking wreck. he knows kata won't save him from the choices he made. he doesn't think kata deserves a piece of shit like him, and knows he'd never choose him over the safety and comfort of his own family. he doesn't tell kata--he's afraid of making kata's life even more complicated than it is. he doesnt want to force him into an ultimatum, maren thinks himself not worthy of that. so he just disappears one day, with the help of smoothie, who also has no interest in maren being around lol.
katakuri, on the other hand...he's a little more calm, the sparks of love are things he's felt more than once but have never worked out for him in that fairy tale way. he wants to keep it a friendship, because he knows he's too busy, too relied upon, too occupied being perfect to *truly* be perfect for another because he's so afraid of letting people down. he's already committed so much of himself that he cannot possibly commit enough for another. he doesn't think he deserves to have that anyway--he's never forgiven himself for what happened to brulee, and would not actively choose love because he would consider it to be a selfish act. he waves marens disappearance off with a self-loathing attitude--another person who will live their lives better, happier without him in it. he has spent his life pining for connections that he's been preparing his whole life to say no to maren, his perfect companion.
they only get back together because news of katas defeat spreads and maren is so overcome with worry and regret that he's able to shed that self-consciousness to run back to his lover's feet ✌️ that frantic "I thought you were gonna die" makes them both realize how fragile life can be.
thank you luffy for beating the crap out of katakuri and maybe giving him a chance to finally fucking calm down.

What kind of partners are mango and her sib attracted to? More feminine or more masculine monsters??
-edgy.🦩
This one I do have down!
Mango: she prefers humans!! Her family situation is a bit complicated. Her dad was human and her mum (gaster) was monster obviously. Unfortunately dad died in a car wreck when she was six, and mum remarried to a piece of crap monster who ended up being papayas dad. Thankfully after getting pregnant with papaya, (birdswap) gaster came to her senses and left the dad. She hasn’t remarried/had a long relationship since
But it messed with mango a lot. She idolized her late dad and hated her (ex) stepparent, and she’s never really been able to like other monsters romantically since. She doesn’t have a preference on gender for her human partner, but does like athletic people who can keep up with her. And she’s real attracted to playful people
Papaya: he doesn’t really have any preferences for his partners. He’s dated around quite a bit since turning 20 and has found that he does prefer people with a sense of humor, but doesn’t exactly know what he really wants in a long term partner. He’s not in a rush anyways.

I've been slacking on posting when I finish/give up on stuff again, so you get to drink from the firehose.
Everything is going to be OK: On the surface it's cute and silly in a kind of cartoony edgy way, but actually it's all about coping with adversity through absurdity (and poetry), whether that's depression or trauma or misogyny or the devaluing of artists or any number of other things. I haven't managed to do everything in it yet because it does not play nice with the Steam Deck and my desktop has no sound for a couple more days, but what I've managed to get through without it breaking is good.
KarmaZoo: I love the idea of a multiplayer game that actively uses game design to incentivize and require cooperating with other players and being nice to them. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anyone playing it anymore when I've tried.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: Most of my time with it was actually closer to when it came out, but this is when I've officially decided I'm done with it. I get along with it a lot better than BotW/TotK, but I still don't like the core design principles of the current phase of the Zelda series. Like I get why other people do, but they're just not doing much for me. I hardly ever feel like I came up with a clever solution to a puzzle, just threw random kludged together crap at it and it worked anyway, so it's not very satisfying. The handful of more challenging/interesting puzzles have been totally optional stuff like a few of the heart pieces. I think I'm done with Zelda until they get this out of their system and try something else in another 5-10 years, which is a shame because I've been playing and mostly enjoying them since the first one was the only one.
Be My Horde: Or what of it is currently finished anyway. Another bullet heaven game, this time with a dommy mommy necromancer. I like how it plays a bit differently from the typical stuff in the genre because of how everything is built around resurrecting the enemies you kill and ways to modify that ability, but how well it works in the end will depend on how much more they add to the base that's there now and if that manages to create some more interesting interactions and viable ways to build.
Pesticide Not Required: Also bullet Heaven, but this time it's...a hybrid with a farming sim? Also you're a frog. Sure, why not? Very silly idea that actually somehow works, fighting off bugs while growing crops, mining ore, and catching fish. Different builds ultimately don't feel very different (aside from focusing more/less on farming/mining/fishing), and a lot of weapon combinations ultimately end up playing exactly the same. Also for such a cute and lighthearted games the different frogs' abilities feel designed less in a "here's an interesting puzzle for you to solve" way like Halls of Torment's unlocks and more "screw the player and I hope you enjoy having stat nerfs that make the game feel bad to play". I say all that, but I still think it's mostly reasonably fun overall.
Golf Club Nostalgia (or Golf Club Wasteland, depending on where you look): Surprisingly more interesting than I expected. Post-apocalyptic golf (which I'm glad I played on "you can't lose" story mode, because I suck too much at it to even attempt getting par on some of those levels) with a not-so-subtle story that doesn't name names but is clearly about Elon Musk having destroyed Earth and now moving on to destroy Mars. The most interesting bits are the worldbuilding done through the radio station that plays in the background, both the songs and the stories people tell about the past.
Spitkiss: I really want to like it more than I do, and I actually did for the first couple chapters. It's I guess technically a puzzle platformer? Except about little guys who communicate through bodily fluids and emojis. This is not the first time something like this has lost my interest by adding moving creatures/enemies of some sort that make the puzzles a lot more timing-focused right after I started getting into it. Oh well. In conclusion, these bitches gay. Good for them.
Will The Man Get Frog: I had to find out what it was just from the name, and what it was is a PICO-8 haiku game based on very limited and randomly chosen words. I had coincidentally just been remembering magnetic poetry was a thing, so great timing with that. Great idea, fun to mess around with, and I could see myself keeping it installed and spending a few minutes with it here and there when I don't know what else to do with myself.

actually nah i want to say some of those tags on their own post
that trailer looks like its being made by adults who entirely think they're above it and don't want to just play in the space without adding twenty layers of pathetic bitch boy irony and edgy creepy crap on top to entertain other douchey adults and hopefully not be noticed by kids that they are actively being mocked for liking this thing
its very genuninely why i loved the one piece live action series, weird connection but bear with me, one piece didn't like nudge nudge wink wink its so stupid and dumb but we get it and we're in on it being dumb too haha get it it's stupid and shitty!!!!!! like so many made in america tie in movies do. It like. It committed to it. It went 'sure this is wild and wacky, but the entire world is so we're going to treat it with respect for this slapstick wildness'.
It didn't act like it was better than the tv show it was trying to make you watch. Which is what that trailer feels like.
