he's known he's going to die again. it's still scary. it's scary and he doesn't want to but he has to be brave he already used his chance up and failed. he's not a kid anymore he already died he can't be scared. move on move on move on

"pretty puffed-up remark there," ORTHO snickers, flicking off some blot that's leaking into his vision. "but i'll humor you."

a set of phantoms rattle and wail nearby, screaming for freedom. ORTHO pauses in his conversation in order to turn and crush the ones in his claws, letting their blot flow freely across stone. he's busy. he doesn't like interruptions when he's busy. he growls at other groups of the creatures, making it clear he doesn't want to be disturbed. they flee.

ORTHO turns back in time to snag a paper on his finger. he collects the others in his other palm as they appear. he has to hold each piece really close to his head in order to see it, but he distantly recognizes the style. what ortho says cinches it.

"they made new pokemon?" he booms with the excitement of a ten-year-old on holly day week, causing some loose rocks to fall from the ceiling. "how many are there now? ooh... this purple and blue rapidash is pretty! is it a rapidash? is it something else?"

It's not nice, to hear about all that... It's in his nature, the reason for his very existence, to find permanence in the impermanent. But when all was said and done, there was no solution to this, or at least there wasn't one in the foreseeable future. The phantom seemed to accept his fate, now... And he has to be okay with that too. Ortho can't shake the desire to help, to do something, but he won't just outright say it. He should try to enjoy the time that he had left to know him...

Ortho can handle that knowing, even if there's no way to help. He can't imagine that Idia would be able to take it as well, so he keeps these meetings a secret too. And even if there's nothing to be done, Ortho can at least make his counterpart's last moments a bit more bearable.

"I wish I could do something but... I guess you're right-" he replies, trying not to betray any more of it. Instead, he had a few tricks up his own sleeves to continue on. He didn't have much to ask in terms of advice, but instead...

"All I need you to do for me now though, is keep your eye out for something coming in there real quick. And no need to thank me or anything-" he laughs, fiddling with something with his back to the gate. In his hands was an object he'd asked some others to help him create, a matter teleporter. It wasn't to try and move anything out, though, since the trip was only one way. To use it, he'd put the items in, and they'd disappear into the desired spot when one thought about it hard.

Specifically, the phantoms would be met with papers, all with different pictures on them of... Pokemon? Though the creatures may be unrecognizable to some, Ortho was adamant.

"Because, I thought about how since you've been down there for so long, you haven't gotten to see all the new Pokemon that have come out recently... So, I printed out some references, and you can ask me about any of the ones that stand out to you!" Maybe it was a silly gesture, but it was something the humanoid wanted to do for a while, so that the phantom could feel a little less out of the loop...

Bill leave him alone bro!!😭 I can't help but think that Bill was a little sassy growing up, especially as he got older and hit his teenage years, y'know back talk and snarky comments when he's upset or annoyed. Steve was a lot more chill and clung to Bill, following him around silently and rarely spoke unless alone. He's not much of a talker and I'd go as far as to say that he's semi nonverbal.

Left behind with her mother and younger sister, Heather's childhood faded into the background like a radio playing in a warzone. When her mother fell ill when Heather was just fourteen, she took on everything herself. She started singing in a dingy bar to support her little sister. Her voice — raw, broken, mesmerizing — was all they had.

At fifteen, her mother died. The bar became her new home. The music her only therapy.

At seventeen, the bar owner tried to rape her. She escaped. Barely. And she went back the next day — not because she was fine, but because there was no one else to pay for the rent or the food.

At twenty-five, it happened again. This time, he succeeded.

That night, she killed him.

And something inside her shifted.

She became addicted — not to the kill, but to the control. The power to destroy those who once destroyed her. The world had made her a victim; now she chose to be a predator. Quiet, selective, vengeful.

But fate wasn’t finished yet.

When she was twenty-seven, her sister — the only person Heather had ever truly loved — died. She slipped from a cliff, straight into Heather’s arms. Broken, bleeding, gone. And that scream — the same one the world ignored as a child — now tore from her chest in full.

Heather walked into the woods, ready to end her life. But instead of finding peace, she fell — into a pit, into blackness, into the gnashing teeth of bats. They shredded her body, and she bled into the dark earth.

Their meeting was absurd, but the connection was real. She didn’t laugh. She didn’t cry. But she looked at him — and Angel saw someone who understood.

They became close, though never lovers. Their bond was deeper — one built on shared pain and mutual survival. Echo saw him for who he was. Angel didn’t flinch when she went silent.

But then came Valentino.

Echo signed a contract with him just to stay near Angel — a terrible price. He enslaved her, beat her, violated her. Just like Angel. Just like before.

And then came the Hazbin Hotel — a place of false hope, of fragile dreams.

There, she met Alain.

ok so i obviously went into flondon completely blind about what to expect from it and didnt think id end up ""roleplaying"" as a character with the (first) acc i created so i kinda went into it with "me"/my sona in mind to determine the choices i made

but that quickly changed LMAO. some time after i completed the new newgate tutorial i became just so,, enthralled with the world and what i could do in it as i played. my first thoughts/impression for my character was that he was gonna be some sort of scholar/scientist (or more specifically biologist or entomologist) that had a connection/motif with spiders. because of the (my) autism. you understand.

none of the ambitions really fit asher/his personality/his motivations, so i went with Bag a Legend in a sort of 'he's fresh out of jail/to the neath so he needs money obviously, right' in reference to the 4 mil echoes offered to hunt the vake that bal's premise was described as. it ended up more as him studying the neath's flora and fauna in a more scientific way than a financially-motivated one, but still technically for the dept of menace eradication, which then led to him hearing about the vake.

then, for some reason (i have since forgor) he was going to,, slowly turn into a spider-beast kinda like a werewolf almost? like with the extra eyes, limbs, growing extra hair all over his body (like a tarantula) that he'd have to hide/explain away to other people. something something accidental transgender allegory or whatever idk. and that was in addition to being gay, which is what had gotten him exiled to the neath (aka he didnt choose to come down of his own accord, and he got actually sent to new newgate prison rather than the whole "its the quickest way down/in" that the tutorial mentioned (iirc anyway lmao)

since then his character has, well. changed a lot, obviously. but i have the sketches/drawings from way back when (aka aug 2024) of him <3

these are the first two i made! the first was on its own trying to get a handle on how i wanted him to look and the second being from a character sheet i filled out to figure out the details of his personality instead. obviously since im biased he needed to be purple and spiders. the first was more obvious in the turning-into-a-spider thing with the pedipalps at his mouth, and giving him extra eyes and the facial hair (which he didnt have when first entering the neath). the second is a lot more in-line with his current/'final'/'canon' design. the scars across his nose are from 'hunting'/fighting the vake, and the two near his mouth are from being bitten by a sorrow-spidwr. he only gets the one extra eye, which was from when he fought the spider-council and died (aka his first and only death). speaking of death, his main motivation early-on was to avoid dying down in the neath so he can return to the surface to see his family brother again. but, of course, things dont always go as plan. for example making said brother into my second account and making him a Seeker. whoops.

ANYWAY i drew asher again a while later once i had more of Him figured out, which ended up being a redraw of that second portrait of him:

look at him go! isnt he so handsome now?? so much so that he's my pfp rn xP it was literally only like,, a few months but flondon had me in a creative stranglehold and my artsyle improved p quickly cause i was drawing so much djxbxh.

i kept the extra eye and the scars, but he only has his lil fang there cause i thought it was cute, not any spider-related reason. i changed the accessory on his,, jabot i think its called? idk i dont know historical fashion. anyway instead of being a spider its more related to his new motifs of non-spider-related eyes and wings, which also hints at his future at the end of his ambition (no spoilers for that just yet :P)

ive drawn asher more since then obviously but theyre separate things that ill probably be putting in posts of their own. also I STILL DONT HAVE A FULL-BODY DESIGN OF HIM?? its mostly just overcoat-shirt-corset for the top and then. just pants and Big Boots. its been 7 months but ive unfortunately hyperfixated on my light fingers pc instead </3 (unfortunately for asher anyway, im having fun with my new blorbo xhsbzh)

💀 Ophelia Starshroud 🌱

Ophelia has undiagnosed AuDHD. Her autistic and ADHD traits interact with one another, sometimes heightening each other, sometimes contradicting each other. For example, she has a number of special interests—magic, astronomy, botany, and spiders—and takes great comfort in learning about them through reading and observation (autistic trait), but in order to avoid boredom, she needs to cycle through those SpIns pretty frequently (ADHD trait). Her sensory sensitivities are heightened by both her ability to take in every little detail of her environment (autistic trait) and her simultaneous inability to ignore certain stimuli (ADHD trait), which can lead to overwhelm and meltdowns. She thrives when provided with routine and structure (autistic trait), but she really SUCKS at creating that routine and structure herself (ADHD trait), and she sometimes screws up her routine by making impulsive decisions (another ADHD trait). She has a strong drive to be organized and orderly (autistic trait), but overwhelm often prevents her from being able to effectively act on that drive (ADHD trait). She stims regularly—her most common stim is flipping her hair over her left shoulder and wringing it in her hands like a soaked dish towel, which can indicate anxiety, boredom, or intense concentration. She also flaps her hands when happy or excited, and when she does that, expect to see showers of magical sparkles! She is very quiet most of the time, with full-blown nonverbal episodes, but when infodumping, she becomes extremely talkative and often speaks too quickly for others to keep up. She has a strong flat affect most of the time, but she feels her emotions very deeply, especially feelings of shame and anger in response to real or perceived rejection (an ADHD trait known as “rejection sensitive dysphoria,” or RSD). She’s terribly blunt and awkward in social situations and struggles to recognize sarcasm and figurative speech despite being rather snarky herself.

The most immediately obvious symptom of Abigail’s autism is her lack of speech—she’s completely nonverbal. She communicates primarily through Wizard City Sign Language, but also through writing and her unusually expressive face (unusually not only for an autistic person, but in comparison to the average neurotypical as well). She often stims by signing to herself, typically a word that someone has just spoken aloud or, in the absence of such direct stimuli, her thoughts or favorite words (which include her own name, her brother’s name, and “sun”). She has a low tolerance for loud sounds, which is what triggers most of her meltdowns. Her meltdowns manifest as anxiety and violence—she scrunches herself into the nearest corner as if to protect herself from an attack, claps her hands over her ears, squeezes her eyes shut, cries, and lashes out at anyone who tries to touch her. The only one she allows near her during a meltdown is her brother, Michael, and even then the most she lets him do is slip her noise-canceling headphones over her ears and then sit next to her until the meltdown runs its course. She has a special interest in tabletop/board/card games and can often be found reading books and articles about their history when she’s not actually playing them; she even reads their instruction manuals cover to cover with intense fascination. In terms of her social life, she avoids most people like the plague and generally only seems willing to interact with her brother; however, there are times when she takes a shine to someone else for reasons that she can’t really articulate, and when that happens, she tends to behave in an overly familiar manner, acting as if she's been friends with that person for years after only a few minutes of knowing them. In many cases, this enthusiastic treatment puts the recipient of her friendliness off, but those who withstand her lack of social grace eventually find that for all her intensity, she’s actually a very sweet person without a mean bone in her body.

5. Most niche Sherlock Holmes adaptation you've consumed?

ok so a couple years ago my parents got me this for my birthday

it’s a deck of cards, each one with a puzzle on it, and the booklet includes short little original stories about cases that each puzzle connects to. I can’t find my cards at the moment but I really liked the puzzles and the stories. Joel Jessup apparently has a great feel for Holmes and Watson’s dialogue. I don’t know how niche this actually is, but I had never heard of it before I got it as a gift, so I think it counts.

11. Headcanon about Holmes? (And do you have any favourites?)

ooh hm. a headcanon of mine that I always forget isn’t mentioned in the text is that he hates new stuff when it’s not related to a case. yes we need variety to escape the commonplaces of existence, but no we’re not replacing this jacket. “it has holes it” “it’s FINE come back to me when it’s more hole than jacket and then we’ll talk” <- approximation of several real conversations I have had.

my favorite? 🔥the autism brothers🔥 (the headcanon that Sherlock Holmes and Mycroft Holmes are both autistic) (I saw an edit with flaming text over a picture of Granada Sherlock and Mycroft and it hasn’t left my brain since)

12. Headcanon about Watson? (And do you have any favourites?)

I think he’s a cat person! I know he mentions a dog in a study in scarlet, but that literally never comes up again, and it’s actually Holmes who seems to get along best with the dogs they meet in canon. I don’t think Watson dislikes dogs, but I do think he prefers cats, and Holmes is the opposite. it’s just funny to me because it’s not what you would think at first glance.

my favorite? well, I don’t know how much of a headcanon this is, as it’s from a published book, but Rohase Piercey wrote about Watson trying to help his brother, an alcoholic as deduced by Holmes from his watch at the beginning of the sign of four, recover over the course of a few weeks before the sign of four begins. his brother dies and Watson immediately goes back to living with Holmes as his cocaine habit gets worse. all this to say: what the fuck Ms. Piercey.

(book is called My Dearest Holmes and this is not even the part that fucks me up the most about it. internet archive has a copy I think. that’s where I read it at least.)
