Okay so this hyperfixation has consumed me for 3 days or so. Right now as I write this I don't know how to put this to words, but Shroud brothers would fit so nicely to NGE story and vibe. And the themes of isolation, loneliness and the search for connection. And cool mechas. :) There was many iconic screenshots I would have wanted to draw too but I really want to get this out and move on with my hyperfixations. Hopefully : D

If I had a nickel for every time a Disney game has a pair of siblings where the younger one died and the older one turned evil but the evil final boss older sibling was accompanied by a large, abstracted version of the younger sibling, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

I’m rereading the Glorious Masquerade event and, in the final book, something occurred to me.

Idia expressed understanding and sympathy toward Rollo, as Rollo lost his brother to magic, similar to how Idia lost his brother. Both of them seem to have a lot of guilt over the death of their brothers, as they saw them die and couldn’t help them.

When Idia expresses this sympathy, Azul immediately cautions him against joining Rollo- and it seems like Idia would even have a good reason to do so. No magic means no curse, no reason to be tied to STYX any longer, no blot and no reason for STYX to even exist. No magic isn’t quite as bad for Idia as it is for Azul or Malleus.

Except. Idia has Ortho. Robo!Ortho to be specific. And robo!Ortho is a technomantic machine. A machine that runs on magic, or at least uses magic. If magic dies… Ortho does, too. Maybe he could avoid the flowers for a bit, but he’d eventually run out of charge. If Rollo wins, it’s game over for Ortho. And it’s even worse, since the Glorious Masquerade seems to take place AFTER Book 6, when it’s confirmed robo!Ortho has free will and a ‘soul’ of sorts.

There was never any danger of Idia joining Rollo. He wouldn’t let anyone hurt his little brother like that.

I have a lot to say about Jamil and Leona's interactions and I was gonna do so after I finished the chapter, but this in particular caught my attention and I need to talk about it:

Jamil is a HUGE hypocrite. He sometimes acts like he's the only person who has a difficult past and shackles to break free. He particularly looks down on those in a superior position like Leona (in fact, he does so openly to Leona in one of his vignettes) because in his mind they couldn't possibly have hardships in their lives. Buddy, you also don't know what the others have been through, abaixa a bola, você não é especial.

Funnily enough, out of all the characters, Leona is the one whose backstory and troubles comes the closest to Jamil's: doomed to forever be the second best and stuck into an unwanted fate because of the family he was born. Of course, Jamil doesn't know that, but still, funny to see his say they're not similar

Jamil stop being dramatic challenge 2k23. He would've loved the emo movement with his "nobody understands me" attitude

Cheap alcohol markers were used. Riddle and Azul are implied to be in an infirmary gown. First time drawing Azul and Kalim, by the way.

Also, guess the name of the idiot who colored Riddle's hair red at first and had to use a permanent white ink pen to fix it? At least it helped with giving the resulting pale pinkish hue to his hair.
