- Before the intro sequence, I thought Anu didn't know Octavio friends? I don't know the timeframe in all this so it does feel a tad bit weird though, in this run I had killed Juniper so...

at that point in the hyperfixation where engaging with the topic of hyperfixation is creating diminishing returns in terms of joy but i'm nonetheless hyperfixated and desperate to wring out every last drop of enjoyment from this media so i just keep rehashing things hoping itll make me feel the same way it made me felt the first time and it doesn't. this is a bad sign bc sometimes if i try to milk enjoyment past this point i end up making the media feel so stale that if i try to go back to it i take psychic damage

wild how addicted i am to nuzlocking now lol i expect this period will abruptly end at some point in the future but i was like "lemme just finish inclement emerald so I can drop this fixation and do other things" ... then promptly started renegade platinum instead of doin anything else.

sidenote after radical red (and to a lesser extent, inclement emerald), all other games feel like torture for nuzlocking. it's absurd how much time proper level grinding takes without infinite rare candies/auto cap function. like there are tons of other great QOL features i got spoiled by in those roms (especially radred) and I know renegade platinum is a good bit older so it makes sense that it's different. but i'm like i surely hope everyone who makes romhacks now just makes at least an optional setting for infinite candies and infinite repels at the bare minimum. those features alone make the game feel so much better.

Ultratober Other Genre - Romantic Visual Novel???

I remember a while back you said that TOTK ranks as one of the best narratives in the series, and replaying it again, I’m inclined to agree. Fans criticized it for being “incoherent,” but there’s literally nothing that happens in the story that isn’t set up in the opening/tutorial. The Imprisoning War, the Zonai, the statue depicting Rauru and Sonia, the Light Dragon flying near the temple, Link diving to Zelda, the Recall ability (how it serves as Link’s connection to Zelda throughout the game and will ultimately be how he saves her at the end). The recall ability is also how Link collects and examines the dragon tear memories. Even if you don’t collect the tears, Link’s last memory of her is the vision of her giving him Recall, so it makes sense that he restores her to how he remembers her (“coaxing the object’s memory” like Sonia says in one of the memories). The theme of community and togetherness is also woven into every aspect of the gameplay and story. BOTW and TOTK are both extremely narratively and thematically coherent.

Ive played the majority of Zelda games and some stories are iconic (OoT), some are DARK (MM), some are DIFFERENT (WW & TP), some are ROMANTIC (ST & SS), and all are adventurous and fun. This series has a plethora of interesting characters and captivating stories, but none truly compare to the intricacies of BoTW&ToTK. And this is achieved through the vast amount of details offered to players in each game.

BoTW has a TON of details for players who go looking for it, however none of them are actually necessary in completing the game. We know this is simply bc of the direction of botw and totk in terms of gameplay.

The stories are OPTIONAL in both of these games, but as you pointed out in ToTK, you don’t escape the Recall memory. And that ability is the one that is truly unique to the story and connects us directly to Zelda, and ultimately Zelda to her old self. Both of these games are directly related to Zelda’s journey as a character and are a testament to this Zelda and Link’s relationship. Without a romantic perspective (which actually requires you to neglect details given to us in both games), the story still stands in terms of development and emotional appeal.

I think everyone can agree that BoTW/ToTK Zelda is the most developed Zelda we have ever gotten, and if you accept that her development goes hand in hand with the story (which duh it does lol) then you realize that for all its faults, BoTW & ToTK has one of the best narratives of the series. To me, you can’t separate the games, because BoTW was the foundation of Zelda’s growth as a person and Zelda & Link’s relationship which resulted in the dedicated loyalty we see six years after the events of BoTW. Without that knowledge, we wouldn’t get the same emotional connection or understand how intimate the ending of ToTK is.

Link’s use of Recall, backed by Rauru’s light magic and Sonia’s time magic, is only achievable by HIS ability to remember Zelda, his own memories and the ones Zelda gifted him through the tears, in order to bring her back. This gives us the EXACT answer to the question BoTW ends on: “May I ask; do you really remember me?”

Like that is so impactful, it clears every other story in my opinion by a LONG SHOT. This doesn’t negate how amazing the other stories are, they are all powerful in their own way, but none compare to the fluid and consistent themes BoTW & ToTK are founded upon.

The story has its faults (as all do) and thus fans capitalize on them in order to tear down the games (which is natural for any popular franchise). But those faults do not impact what is perfectly executed in terms of Zelda and Link’s story. The things we wish to see more of are that of side characters and questions left unanswered (which provided the series a new set of lore to explore in future games). But I will forever stand by this era and it’s overarching story that still makes me stop whenever I see the light dragon or seek out those small details whenever I replay the games.

summary: marcello surprising you at work requested by anonymous.

you were sitting in your trailer on set, after what had already been a long morning. you were coming up on the end of your movie shoot, and unfortunately, that meant for longer days on set as you were going through reshoots and the director and producers were trying to wrap everything up. 

you were reading lines fron one of the scenes you were shooting today. fortunately, it was a shorter one for you, so you didnt have to be on the screen much. you were in the middle of a line when you heard a knock on the door, which you presumed was a PA grabbing you to head back to set. 

you opened your trailer door, eyes widening and jaw dropping as soon as you laid eyes on who was standing there. 

“marcello!? what are you doing here?” you exclaimed, excitedly jumping into his arms. 

“i needed to come see you. youve been having such long shoot days, and ive missed having you at home.” he said, a small pout pulling on his lips. you pulled out of the hug and pressed a sweet kiss to his lips. 

“im so happy to see you.” you said, fighting tears. 

“so? are you free? can i take you to lunch?” he asked you. just then, a PA came by and announced that everyone was breaking for lunch. 

“i guess so.” you smiled. 

marcello took you to lunch at a near by restaurant, the two of you enjoying your meal. you hadn’t realized how much you actually did miss spending time with him like this while your movie was shooting. the shooting schedule had already gone longer than expected, and you were unfortunately pulled away from home for long periods of time. usually, he was okay with it, since he had a busy work life too, but he’d had an unexpected amounts of time off recently that he wished he was able to spend with you. 

after your meal, marcello took you back to set and walked with you back to your trailer. 

“thank you for lunch.” you said to him as you stood outside your trailer door. 

“of course.” he said, wrapping his arms around you and pulling you into him. he leaned down and pressed a kiss to each of your cheeks. “what time do you think you’ll be getting home?” he asked. 

“hopefully not too late. i really dont think we have that much left to do around here, so should be around dinner time.” you said. “i’ll text you when i leave and i can pick us up something to eat.”

“sounds good.” he smiled. you shared another kiss and said your goodbyes as you had to get back to work. 

later that evening, you were finally wrapping things up on set. you were fortunately able to leave a bit later than you expected, so you text marcello and let him know that you were on your way home. you stopped for food at a restaurant close to your house that you and marcello frequented, and they knew you there. you ordered your usual meals, then you were finally home. 

you walked into the living room to marcello lounging on the couch watching tv. you joined him, spreading out your food on the coffee table. soft chatter began flowing between the two of you as you ate and watched the show. 

later that evening, you eere laying in bed, mindlessly scrolling on your phone. you were on tikok, when marcello came up in your following feed. 

“come with me to surprise my girlfriend at work” the captions on his video read. you smiled to yourself, immediately replaying the events in your head. 

you watched as he went through his morning routine, got dressed, and made his way to the set. he’d text someone he knew who was also working on the movie to help get him past security and lead him to where you were actually shooting. you were getting giddy all over again, watching him make his way to your trailer, you reunion and leaving with him. you were surprised he’d made it that far and you never even realized he was filming any of it. 

you were reading through some of the top comments, everyone saying how cute the two of you were and how happy they were to see this moment between the two of you. you couldn’t believe that so many people had already seen the video in the couple of hours it was up. 

“i love you so much. 🥺🥺” you commented. you watched the video one more time before closing out of the app and putting your phone on the charger. 

marcello had finally joined you in bed, and you made yourself comfortable in his arms. you felt him press a kiss to the top of your head before wishing you a goodnight and turning out the light. he tightened his arms around you, both of you drifting off into sweet sleep.

genloss is cool and ive dedicated a stupid amount of time to knowing things about it here's some fun facts and stuff

#1: Hetch isnt a name, its a title and acronym. The Hetch. during the T_1 promo video we see the acronym don't Hide don't Escape don't Talk don't Conform don't Hesitate H.E.T.C.H #2: During TSE Ep.1, there are actually two different slime suites. LIVE PROMO

the first suit was used for promo material and a few of the prerecorded scenes, but the slime hardened overnight and was deemed unusable for the live performance. so they made another one. #3

The prop table on ep 3 which has the orb from create a creature, as well as the voltmeter from promo, and the now bloody rubber chicken from the surgery scene

#4 there were actually 3 voltmeters that were used for promo and such. it was one of the first hints for Replay theory

this was actually chair theory at one point, shoutout the OGs that can point and laugh at me for that. (I lost so much sanity over these silly little boxes)

#5 during ep 2 live we got to see these instructions written in wingdings

its genuinly just the rules for rat trap. #6 In ep 2 between room 1 and 2, very intentional camerawork is done to hide the fact ranboo walks directly past an exit which for some reason he "cant see" we see it during ep 3 ep2

Before ii16 and after ii18, ive made a cutout of him thats taller than me (no, i did not print it, i made the entirety myself) i am in the process of making his lanyard, i have made a zombified au for i cannot function without him being alive in some capacity, i am planning on making a shrine, i basically did a whole exercise routine throughout the entirety of his stream/q&a from excitement, im working on memerizing his lines, i replayed the voiceline that they played at the end of the ii17 trailer a giant amount of times and giggled and kicked my feet (same thing with the arg voiceline) and(SECURITY COMES TO GET ME) UM IM TOTALLY NOT TRYING TO GET NOMINATED FOR AN AWARD OR ANYTHING I JUST I JUST WEALLY LIKE HIM IM SORRY!! anyway. i saw someone in the tags of that post saying its abt choice, that you have the option to CHOOSE whether or not to be spoiled on something, and like! yeah! exactly! like personally there is not much that Genuinely Triggers me but if i mentioned to a friend that i was thinking about getting into a particular piece of media, and they knew that piece of media had smth in it that would really really upset me, i would want to know

but otherwise i want to experience it for myself and it feels really... rude? i guess? when people spoil stuff for others just because they can. like. not talking abt reblogging stuff for media ages after it came out untagged, or reblogging stuff just after a thing came out and tagging it as spoilers and then someone sees it because they didnt blacklist anything. im talking about walking up to someone and going 'oh. youre interested in this piece of media? well did you know that [massive spoiler]?' its just rude!

and like. i can still enjoy media if i know what happens. its not a case of 'ohhh well i guess you never reread books or replay games or whatever' liek? yeah? i do??? theres SO many things ive gone through again but i still prefer to go into it the first time blind!

like ghost trick is a REALLY good example, if i had gone in knowing [redacted spoiler] i still would have enjoyed the game. but it would have SO MUCH taken away from that First Time Experience where i got to figure it out for myself. where i got to go into the discord and say oh my god this sounds absolutely batshit but heres my theory and im gonna lose it if im right

and then getting to go in a few hours later and go HOLY SHIT I WAS RIGHT? HOLY SHTI? HOLY SHIT?

like. i said i wasnt gonna be vague but literally just one (1) thing i prommy. it feels so... idk. condescending maybe. for op of that post to act like people who dont want spoilers are dumber, or dont enjoy media in the 'right way', or dont analyze media ever, or dont enjoy going through media a second time, or only like stupid bad media for idiots, or or or etc

thats such a huge generalization and sure maybe some of it is true for some people! theres definitely people out there who only like watching a movie once and lose interest once they know what happens! but does that? make them dumb??? or lesser??? like???

and if anything. not being spoiled ENHANCES a second go through for me. like ghost trick example again. i havent played it a second time myself (i want to eventually, but im at college and for spoiler related reasons i can only play it when im at home for my own emotional health), but i have gone and watched other people play it because i love seeing other people get that first time experience too. and the amount of foreshadowing for that one spoiler is WILD. ITS EVERYWHERE. AND IT RULED TO GO BACK THROUGH IT A SECOND TIME AND SEE ALL OF THAT AND GO HOLY SHIT IT WAS RIGHT THERE THE WHOLE TIME

and for the isat spoiler i got spoiled going in for, i still got to do that, just the first time i played. i still got that 'holy shit its so obvious all the pieces are there' experience, but without the joy of getting to figure it out for myself.

i like figuring out shit for myself! i LOVE a good mystery, i love putting together puzzle pieces and seeing the picture come together, i love being proven right and hell i even love being proven wrong (though. not quite as much LMAO). and im good at it, i think! i genuinely do like that about myself, and i like getting to use that skill! a lot!

so like. i dont... understand people acting like someone not wanting to be spoiled is just not engaging with media fully. i think i am? like i said in my tags of the last post i make a sweeping gesture to the 7934058903 posts on my blog where i overanalyze LITERALLY every single line and moment loop has, ever, lmaofjdsklfjldks

taz balance is another REALLY big one i point to as a 'the first and the second go through are SO VERY different and its SO great to get to have both' like. again, the foreshadowing is woven in SO well, in many cases completely unintentionally (there are so many times when the players accidentally foreshadowed something and i KNOWWWWW griffin was sitting there trying so very very hard not to say anything or laugh. or times in the first few arcs when griffin foreshadowed something that hadnt even been planned out yet!)

and ive listened to the whole thing like. three times, i think? at least three times. and its LONG. AND I HAVE ADHD. SO THAT SHOULD SAY SOMETHING ALKFJDLKSJFLKD

like. idk. getting spoiled on a big twist wont ruin the experience if the piece of media is good, thats true. getting spoiled on that one thing in isat very much didnt ruin it for me! i loved the game so much even going in with that spoiler! but theres a difference between ruining the experience and lessening it. and it doesnt make anyone lesser or wrong or dumb to not want that. shrugs
