28. Favorite work you wrote this year?

i only wrote 2 fics this year (rip) so it's hard to choose between them...because they are my sweetie babies and both some of the best (and LONGEST) fics i've ever written. multichapter fic WHO?? ME?? i'm still shocked i think i'm going to have to go with let me do this for you, my link click fic. it's a hard choice, but the care i put into that fic supersedes anything i had written previously. it took me a couple months to write because of how deliberate i was being, and as a person who normally just bangs out a fic and posts it, i surprised myself by actually writing multiple drafts of it, having it beta-ed, all the stuff Good Writers do. plus it's clever, it's really emotional, and it's awesome. i re-read it all the time. i'm super proud of it.

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?

let's not get it twisted, though! my soul eater chibiverb fic if my heart was a compass, you'd be north is EXCELLENT and i'd be remiss not to give her her flowers! whenever i receive a question like this, about a favorite line i've written, i always have a weird existential crisis that none of my prose is pretty enough to be awarded "best line" and then i pivot and just default to a funny line i've written, but you know what? i have a line this time. i read the whole 20k+ word fic all the time JUST so i can get to this line. "Kid’s heart is a bird, soaring through blue skies." and yeah, it's super simple. i'm sure i've written more flowery prose and i could comb through both the fics to find some. but i love this one because i think it's a GREAT ending to the fic. i won't give context because i'd love for people to read the fic to find out, but Kid has been going through so much emotional turmoil throughout the story. heartache, depression, painful guilt, and in this moment all of that is finally falling away. this line is shows not only how happy and at home Kid finally feels, but just how FREEING it is to have all that negative emotion fall away. read the fic, it's a good line.

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

i think i've already reiterated it a few times lol, but i wrote a ~12k fic and a ~24k word fic. as someone who normally taps out around maybe 7k? IF that? someone should throw a party for me tbh. i have finally found the confidence to post longer fics and i think that deserves to be celebrated.

Oof, that‘s a difficult one because I usually love every character. But if I had to choose then it would probably be Harper Rose. I just generally am not the biggest fan of the ‚are they evil, are they good or just selfish?‘ characters.

Having said that though, I love that she‘s part of Team Machine Washington. I think she fits in there perfectly! But yeah, I wasn‘t the biggest fan when she showed up.

8. my I will go down with this ship and I won’t put my hands up and surrender, there will be no white flag above my door. I’m in love and always will be fave ship: 

Easiest one for me: Shoot! Root and Shaw have one of the most compelling relationships on TV, ever, for me. I think mostly because I didn‘t think that it would ever be more than subtext. And how their story was never about them being queer. They just were, it was a fact of their lives and no one made a fuss.

I can‘t believe that in 2024 I‘m still craving this exact kind of experience but it‘s so rare.

Also Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi had amazing chemistry. I bought every moment and loved watching them figuring out whatever relationship they ended up having. Because it was definitely far from heteronormative.

hello, hello beloved friend! thank you for the questions!! <3 5. Do you think of yourself as a human being or a human doing? do you identify yourself by the things you do? - huh. hm. you know.... i think i'm gonna lean towards i'm a human 'being' - i'm an entity that is probably human, and the things i do, my day to day activities and hobbies aren't the basis of my identity. they might be indicative of it, but not the end all be all of it. i think. probably. 6. Are you religious/spiritual? - I was raised roman catholic, so the short answer is i'm hardwired to believe in something no matter how hard i try to do otherwise lmao. but the longer answer, put briefly, is that my spirituality is pretty all over the place these days. i still hold onto some traditions and such from my youth (like i still pray to Mary/Mother figures in general) but also I just sort of do what feels right? I use tarot cards as meditative tools and believe things from the earth can impart energy and as above so below but it's ultimately very personal. at the end of the day, there are a lot of paths that one can choose to take, and we're all just walking each other Home. 21. Do you love easily? Much too easily. But I'd rather love too much, too quickly and get hurt than close myself off and be miserable at best.

Hmmm okay so basically pretty much all of my fics (that I've finished) have ended the way that I planned for them to end. I guess one that ALMOST had a different ending was the A&E Fic - originally it ended with Chapter Nine - but then I decided that after everything we put Fictional!Matty through he deserved to end the fic with more dignity than him literally shitting himself. When working on Chapter 10, the first chapter I didn't have to follow along with what had been established in the Eye Infection Fic, I originally considered Ava being the one to end up in A&E, and Fictional!Matty being a worried helicopter parent over it, but then decide that it was a little morbid, if she was as accident prone as he was, so I ended up going with her birth instead! I hope that answered the question!

Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?

Oh my gosh, in terms of discarded scenes - I actually am pretty bad about cannibalizing scenes that I've cut from fics and reusing them else where or reworking them to fit into other fics. But specifically for the Christmas Fic, BUT here is a screenshot of some notes from the OG outline 😂 (I'm still trying to figure out a way to work in the bit about Fictional!Matty feeling like the villain in a Hallmark movie - I was proud of that one!) I'm also only sharing this because this is (obviously) very much NOT how the fic is ending

3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?

I can tell you immediately what tropes can be found repeated through my fics.

Some aspect of parenthood, present or future (wanting kids, pregnancy plots, or characters being parents already). That was easy to fit in with Red Rowan because Yennefer canonly wants children very much, so it made for a compelling narrative conflict and an interesting exploration of her character.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions" - characters are forced to make choices and do things they would never otherwise see themselves doing because they hope it's leading towards a good ending they deserve. Combine that with the occasional fall from grace/"I gave up everything and in the end I still lost" and it's just. Chef's kiss.

"Retired badass" is another trope I love and will use whenever I have a chance. Yes, I lived through hell and retired... but now circumstances have forced me back into the fray, and I'm about to make it everyone's problem.

13. Are there any tropes you used to like but don’t anymore?

Hmm. Not exactly a trope, but I think I used to be a lot more into shipping than I am now. I think I'm about 50/50 with whether I even care about ships at all when I get into a media these days. I still enjoy them of course but they've drifted significantly from being my main focus of interest in creating for things I like.

14. Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer?

Ah, yeah, a few for sure. I'm not huge on a lot of more campy fanfic tropes (that's generous - I'm extremely picky about fanfic tropes) but I'd read them if I knew/trusted the writer and wanted to see what they did with them. There are also a few darker subjects where knowing/trusting the writer and their intentions more in-depth makes it easier (or even possible) to allow for unfettered immersion.

21. If you wrote a “missing scene” in Red Rowan, what would it be?

For Red Rowan? Aw man, there are so many things I'd love to write for that fic (including an entire sequel of sorts I was picking at at one time), though to be completely honest you wrote the most amazing interlude scene imaginable with Camellia (there needs to be more soft Eskel/Shani in this world, you have truly done the lord's work). If I had to think of any other scenes I might like to write...

Possibly something that better explores Lambert and Keira's outcome, where they are, and what's been going on with them. There's more going on behind the scenes with the two of them - both of them have deeper issues that they're willing to let on, but both are too stubborn to just come out and talk about them, even with how deeply in love they are and how much they trust each other over all other people. I didn't want to delve too deeply into their story in the actual fic because 1) it's Geralt's story, not Lambert's, and 2) Lambert gave exactly as many details as he was meant to give, and any more would unbalance the narrative.

But... I do love them, your honour. Maybe once the big overall story wraps they can have more content. As a treat.

— this may sound pessimistic, but in all honesty, i don’t have one. perfection is a thing i’ve craved my entire life, unhealthily so, and it took me much too long to realize that it doesn’t exist. however! here are some of the ones i think get close enough to it:

— in all honesty, the main thing that pushes me to write is turmoil. i typically have a sporadic writing/drawing schedule because it all comes from emotion. this is typically why i struggle to write long fics, or fluffy ones, because most of my fuel to write is, once again, sporadic, intense emotion — typically longing, nostalgia, grief, etc. i find the hardest thing to deal with is bittersweetness, so i typically write from that.

aside from that, i suppose i could say music? i don’t really know if this counts/is what the question meant, but. oh well.

i find it much harder to be poetic or metaphorical without it; my writing is much, much worse if i’m doing it in silence. aside from that, i don’t really have a specific place or activity that inspires it (unless the media from which i write counts). and, i express myself via either art or writing! (creative double threat. in exchange, i cannot do math).

God I don't know. I'm very new to Tesblr and I know every single take is discussed as the most problematic topic in academia here. I personally like the "Vanus is autistic" take, though I think that's pretty much canon sdjndgsdfg. let's see. I also saw someone say queerness in Tamriel has a very different meaning than it does for us, since it seems to have much less pushback for non-normative expressions of sexuality and gender. As someone who does research on queerness in art, fully endorsed! lol

6. Ship or platonic relationship that you got into because of the fans

Easy. Vannimarco. I started as hating it but it grew on me because my friends have the worms for them! I'm not much of a shipper in TES though, I prefer to engage with characters by themselves and OCs, usually

Hi! :3 No redemption arc for them, that's for sure. They are the same bastards but older.

I think Alastor would continue his radio career. After all, we saw in the show that he's veeeery passionate about that. With all his charisma, I'm certain that he got that popularity and status to be recognizable on the streets (as much as he could anyway). Still, to me, it seems that he would be just as skeptical of other new types of media so dedicated to his niche.

Oh, Mimzy absolutely would! That's her thing, after all. Why stop all of a sudden? It's funny to me to think that she might have charmed some naive rich guy into eventually becoming his wife, and then that naive rich guy died under ✨mysterious circumstances✨, and all his goodies went to Mimzy. She will definitely cry at certain moments and say how much she misses her sweet husband and how unfair life is. To be in that Grieving Widow of a Rich Guy role for a while, just for her entertainment mostly.

I had a thought and since i am absolutely in love with your drabbles ('cause holy shit your takes are incredible), i wanted to share it with you :>

When i was thirteen i had wrote a letter to eighteen year old me and it had both serious and cringy questions i wanted to ask to myself of that time. I started it with "If you're reading this, you're still here!" So, what if, jason had a letter like this to his eighteen year old version?? (Could also be a diary entry but you get the idea) Maybe like a homework from school or maybe he just wanted to do it bc he'd probably be very into writing. But he never got to read it on time, supposedly his eighteenth birthday.

The first time he visits the manor, he scoops through his old books and a paper slips out of it. The letter from thirteen years old jaybin himself, to jason.

And just for a second as he reads it, from the corner of his blurry vision, he thinks he can see that thirteen years old boy staring at him with a huge sadness on his face. Jaybin doesn't want answers for his questions anymore.

I imagine Jason searching for something through his old stuff (maybe, he promised Damian to give his old annotations of the book he studies at school right now), when he finds it. It slips out of his Pale Fire copy, and his first instinct is to throw the random paper away, until the curiosity takes the best of him.

He opens the old paper that got yellowish with a time, and the memory slowly returns by itself - a memory of one of the homeworks their literature teacher asked them to do, a time capsule, in a way; a letter to the future themselves. Jason remembered everyone being excited about it - they wrote it right in class, and promised to their teacher to bring these letters back, on their graduating ceremony. Just to laugh about it. It wasn't serious, when Jason wrote it, but right now, as he gripped in with his trembling fingers, it meant everything.

His eyes are already half-blurry, when he goes through the first line.

"If you are reading this, then you are the luckiest bastard ever, the future me, and it means that we actually made it to the graduation! Which is like, woah... Super-duper, I guess."

Expect, they didn't. Not really, at least.

Jason tries reading the rest of the neatly written paper, but the moment he stumbles on the question asking if Bruce kept his promise and sneaked them to the Pulitzer Prize ceremony that is instantly is followed by the question about his relationship with Dick, he loses it.

He presses the letter to his chest, and weeps.

In his mind - or maybe it is the ghost of a kid everyone was crazy about, finally hunting him down as well - he imagines his younger-self staring at him, lost. Confused, and then finally, accepting. Jason cannot offer him answers. And they both know why.

And deep inside? Deep inside, they always knew it was going to happen.
