I'm just putting this out here cuz it's funny. But ya know, Mobei-Jun didn't necessarily have Shang Qinghua doing his paperwork and legislation pre taking him to his place to be his sexy secretary. Potentially this job was easy to not work because he could just dig through his author notes and shit with the hard part being dealing with Mobei-Jun himself. Potentially man saw how much his boy worked on a daily basis and went 'paperwork is enrichment for his environment ' and plopped him at a desk telling him to work.
And Airplane scared for his life nodded and went : time to rewrite the entire tax system I guess

I'm hoping by posting this I can point out how bad this is, but I would have to say the most common reason I've been denied accommodations for my health is because I was too "smart." Essentially, then and still, I have people trying to say I shouldn't need accommodations because I get good grades. First off....the implications of that are not ones I personally would want to follow me through my professional career. But go ahead I guess. Secondly, Long Covid causes both mental and physical symptoms. I get brain fog most days, and a lot of the time it means I have to work longer on an assignment. That doesn't mean I can't be smart. Wth?!
And on that same note, the fact Long Covid makes you feel like constantly sleeping like a vampire would probably affect me, don't you think? It's almost like ✨️ health conditions are multi-faceted and your need to do below the bare minimum at your job is not an excuse! ✨️
But the underlying theme seems to be, that a lot of people working in administrations don't want to admit that they have a very ableist view of the people they're supposed to be working for. It's like, tell me you think being disabled means you're not as intelligent without telling me you think being disabled means you're not as intelligent. The only reason they still have a job is because they don't want to say the quiet part outloud.
Sorry if I beat out your top "healthy" students. Maybe the fact that I get such high grades despite having to face double the challenges as them should say something about how little the other students care, and my determination as an individual -not whether or not I need help sometimes. It's like, you work at a school, maybe go get an education? Being disabled doesn't mean you can't be smart.

Seeking IT post
Sadly, the contract for @fordprfct has come to an end, and he has to find new work. (although 4 years for what was supposed to be a 1 year contract isn't bad - and they jumped through hoops to keep him when his former contracting company was rejected.) I've seen through his coworkers' reactions, he's VERY good at what he does. Jobhunting is much more unpleasant. He works remotely, and I'm hoping someone might know of an opening for him, so here's what he does. I can tell you, he picks up new software challenges like a cat going after tuna.
I.T. / Computer Systems Administrator with 20+ years experience
Unix Computer Systems Administrator, with focus on RHEL (RedHat Enterprise Linux) and automation
Experience with IBM BigFix, VMWare products (vSphere, vRealize / Aria Automation Orchestrator), shell / Python scripting
Worked in Government, Finance, and Internet Service Provider industries

Making this it's own post so I don't hijack anyone else's lmao but: the answer to the question "why would you become a teacher if you hate children" (and the less-asked but just as important "why would you go into nursing if you hate sick people") is: they want to have absolute power over people, and teaching and nursing are some of the easiest ways to get it. The people it is easiest to get power over are children and sick people. That's why.
Teaching and nursing attract bullies because they give people power over other people, and they will attract more bullies as long as they continue to be underpaid, because hospitals and schools desperate to keep enough staff to keep running are a lot less likely to fire people unless they absolutely have to—and right now, it most hospitals and school districts, the teachers and nurses treating you and your kids like shit aren't actually breaking any rules, because the rules are there to make schools and hospitals easy to run, not to make them effective at treating patients or teaching students.
Also, to be clear, the actual solution to this is less "more good people need to agree to get treated like shit and paid fuckin' nothing until the good ones outnumber the bad;" that's nice, a good teacher or a good nurse makes a huge difference. But until we start paying teachers and nurses a living wage and giving them reasonable hours (so that maybe some normal people can work these jobs who aren't martyrs OR bullies but just like Normal People Doing Their Jobs) AND we make education more accessible to disabled and poor people (and less accessible to bullies) this is Not Going To Get Better.
#like. your teacher isnt screaming at you and reading out your grades in front of everyone and taking recess away#bc they think it will make you better at geometry. or whatever.#they are doing it because it makes them feel like a big man#and the american school system in particular#(intentional or not!)#is set up to make that like. not just excusable. the norm#bc its designed to run efficiently. and power tripping teachers (appear) efficient#with nurses i think its just such a shitty job#with shitty hours and shitty pay and shitty protections against abusive patients and doctors and administration#that nobody sticks with it unless they have a Real Compelling Reason To Do So#and one of the More Compelling Reasons. I think. is that you enjoy having power over people#.....anyway#delete later

i might seem like just a mentally ill eccentric. but deep down i care about the children
#im talking about my job#tales from diana#i probably dont seem eccentric at all to the ppl i work w just socially anxious (which is very obvious irl & always has been w me)#i dont know how to explain my conflict about working at my high school lately other than. it's not just my trauma#with that particular building. i mean yes it's very much awoken w me when im in there#but everything that was wrong w the *culture* of my school. the way teenagers in that district acted.#it's like. exactly the way i left it seven years ago#and i think a lot of it has to do with the incompetence of the administration and i hate to say it but. individual teachers to some extent#i mean ppl just have no expectations for these children to be respectful and apply themselves#when you treat students with dignity and present their work with dignity they will feel dignified and care more.#there are lots of systemic issues that affect teenagers too that cause them to be disengaged as well#and you never know what's just going on in their individual lives that's interfering w their school success.#in many ways it's like the way they fare is so out of our hands that i get why teachers are so burnt out and cant be assed#im very much bright-eyed and bushytailed in some ways. even tho i do not see this as a glamorous job#i am very young and haven't been doing this long enough to have EVERY ideal beaten out of me. just most of em.#yeah. the culture of that high school is just awful.#in general i have very high opinions of teenagers. and low opinions of high schoolers.#it's not who they are that is wrong. it's the building they inhabit and the ways they move around it.#it's the potential of them that is being ill-served that frustrates me so much.#they deserve better and so do we as the adults working there#that's that on that

Things the Biden-Harris Administration Did This Week #39
October 18-25 2024.
President Biden issued the first presidential apology on behalf of the federal government to America's Native American population for the Indian boarding school policy. For 150 years the federal government operated a system of schools which aimed to destroy Native culture through the forced assimilation of native children. At these schools students faced physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and close to 1,000 died. The Biden-Harris Administration has been historic for Native and Tribal rights. From the appointment of the first ever Native American cabinet member, Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, to the investment of $46 billion dollars on tribal land, to 200 new co-stewardship agreements. The last 4 years have seen a historic investment in and expansion of tribal rights.
The Biden-Harris Administration proposed a new rule which would make contraceptive medication (the pill) free over the counter with most Insurance. The new rule would ban cost sharing for contraception products, including the pill, condoms, and emergency contraception. On top of over the counter medications, the new rule will also strength protections for prescribed contraception without cost sharing as well.
The EPA announced its finalized rule strengthening standards for lead paint dust in pre-1978 housing and child care facilities. There is no safe level of exposure to lead particularly for children who can suffer long term developmental consequences from lead exposure. The new standards set the lowest level of lead particle that can be identified by a lab as the standard for lead abatement. It's estimated 31 million homes built before the ban on lead paint in 1978 have lead paint and 3.8 million of those have one or more children under the age of 6. The new rule will mean 1.2 million fewer people, including over 300,000 children will not be exposed to lead particles every year. This comes after the Biden-Harris Administration announced its goal to remove and replace all lead pipes in America by the end of the decade.
The Department of Transportation announced a $50 million dollar fine against American Airlines for its treatment of disabled passengers and their wheelchairs. The fine stems from a number of incidences of humiliating and unfair treatment of passages between 2019 and 2023, as well as video documented evidence of mishandling wheelchairs and damaging them. Half the fine will go to replacing such damaged wheelchairs. The Biden administration has leveled a historic number of fines against the airlines ($225 million) for their failures. It also published a Airline Passengers with Disabilities Bill of Rights, passed a new rule accessible lavatories on aircraft, and is working on a rule to require airlines to replace lost or damaged wheelchairs with equal equipment at once.
The Department of Energy announced $430 million dollars to help boost domestic clean energy manufacturing in former coal communities. This invests in projects in 15 different communities, in places like Texas, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Michigan. The plan will bring about 1,900 new jobs in communities struggling with the loss of coal. Projects include making insulation out of recycled cardboard, low carbon cement production, and industrial fiber hemp processing.
The Department of Transportation announced $4.2 billion in new infrastructure investment. The money will go to 44 projects across the country. For example the MBTA will get $400 million to replace the 92 year old Draw 1 bridge and renovate North Station.
The Department of Transportation announced nearly $200 million to replace aging natural gas pipes. Leaking gas lines represent a serious public health risk and also cost costumers. Planned replacements in Georgia and North Carolina for example will save the average costumer there over $900 on their gas bill a year. Replacing leaking lines will also remove 1,000 metric tons of methane pollution, annually.
The Department of the Interior announced $244 million to address legacy pollution in Pennsylvania coal country. This comes on top of $400 million invested earlier this year. This investment will help close dangerous mine shafts, reclaim unstable slopes, improve water quality by treating acid mine drainage, and restore water supplies damaged by mining.
Data shows that President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act (passed with Vice-President Harris' tie breaking vote) has saved seniors $1 billion dollars on out-of-pocket drug costs. Seniors with certain high priced drugs saw their yearly out of pocket costs capped at $3,500 for 2024. In 2024 all seniors using Medicare Part D will see their out of pocket costs capped at $2,000 for the year. It's estimated if the $2,000 cap had been in effect this year 4.6 million seniors would have hit it by June and not have had to pay any more for medication for the rest of the year.
The Department of Education announced a new proposed rule to bring student debt relief for 8 million struggling borrowers. The Biden-Harris Administration has managed despite road blocks from Republicans in Congress, the courts and law suits from Republican states to bring student loan forgiveness to 5 million Americans so far through different programs. This latest rule would take into account many financial hardships faced by people to determine if they qualify to have their student loans forgiven. The final rule cannot be finalized before 2025 meaning its fate will be decided at the election.
The Department of Agriculture announced $1.5 billion in 92 partner-driven conservation projects. These projects aim at making farming more susceptible and environmental friendly, 16 projects are about water conservation in the West, 6 support use of innovative technologies to reduce enteric methane emissions in livestock. $100 million has been earmarked for Tribal-led projects.

There was a TikTok of an (American) woman who was documenting her husband’s ICU room and expressing displeasure with the state it was in, it was generally unclean with broken equipment, rust stains, clipped flooring, things that can make a medical environment unsafe. I opened the comments expecting people to be like “Wow, that’s scary. And a huge infection risk. ICU stays often cost patients upwards of $100k and not enough of that money is going to maintenance and cleaning.” But instead it was nurses being utterly vile to this woman. Not saying “You’re right, it’s terrible that we’re forced to do our jobs in unsafe, unclean and outdated environments.” they were telling her she was a prime example of why patients’ families were the worst part of their job.
The hospital that charged my insurance $87k for a single endoscopy & colonoscopy performed on me was recently fined for having dirty equipment. If not on sanitation, if not on giving nurses and providers better wages, if not on updating the facility, where the hell did that money go? If nurses could band together to attack and criticize hospital administration and the American medical system in the way they band together to attack and criticize patients and advocates online, all of our lives could improve.
But of course it is easier to raise the sword against the vulnerable person dependent on your care, on the people often experiencing the worst day of their life when they are too frightened and in pain to treat you with courtesy. It’s easier to lash out at the patient inquiring about their medication after waiting two hours than to lash out at the people responsible for making you responsible for 30 patients at once.
I don’t think anyone blames nurses for hospital rooms being nasty. It’s not their job. It’s the job of custodial staff and maintenance. It’s the job of administration to fund those departments. It’s a problem at the top. If we could all look upwards instead of down when it comes to who we criticize and blame, we could make progress.

Mobile Compatibility: MaxLearn’s mobile-friendly design ensures that all content is easily accessible on smartphones and tablets. Mobile compatibility is crucial for today’s workforce, many of whom prefer to learn on the go.
Benefits: Flexibility and accessibility ensure that training is inclusive and convenient, catering to the diverse needs of the workforce. This inclusivity leads to higher participation rates and ensures that all employees have the opportunity to benefit from the training.
5. Cost-Effectiveness and Scalability
Implementing MaxLearn can lead to significant cost savings and scalability advantages for organizations.
Reduced Training Costs: Traditional training methods often involve substantial costs related to travel, accommodation, printed materials, and instructor fees. MaxLearn reduces these expenses by delivering training digitally. Once the content is developed, it can be reused and updated as needed, further lowering costs.
Scalability: MaxLearn is designed to scale with your organization. Whether you’re training a small team or an entire global workforce, the platform can accommodate your needs. New users can be added easily, and content can be adapted to different languages and regions.
Automated Administrative Tasks: MaxLearn automates many administrative tasks associated with training programs, such as enrollment, tracking progress, and generating certificates. This automation reduces the administrative burden on trainers and HR staff, allowing them to focus on more strategic initiatives.

only other autistic staff at our job is leaving... deep pangs of loss + isolation commenced. like, we'll still be around autistic people all day because at least 45% of our clients are autistic, but we're not allowed to actually be friends with them, we can (and should!) form close relationships with our clients, but we cant actually be their friend outside of the day program so it was really nice to have another autistic staff that we could talk and rant with about anything & everything especially since our autism presents so similarly & we agree on a lot of things, its really nice to feel so understood and its gonna suck to lose that
#fungal spores#to make matters infinitely worse#our best-work-friend is also gonna apply to a way better job opening up in a few months#and absolutely good for them to get away from this company#but we will be so so lonely without them#there arent many staff here we feel so comfortable & safe with#theres plenty of staff who are cool and chill#but every once in a while we do notice things that feel ableist to us - a system whos experienced subtle ableism#but that administration doesnt consider ableist because 'some people need stronger encouragement than others'#so it was nice having people that understood that ableism#theres two lovely women who agree with me who work in the back#but since we work in the front we hardly ever see them#so like#this feels very isolating#experiences*

https://meidasnews.com/news/republican-mayor-of-3rd-largest-city-in-az-endorses-harris
John Giles, the Republican Mayor of Mesa, Arizona, wrote an OpEd today for the Arizona Republic stating the reasons why he is endorsing Kamala Harris for President. Mesa is the 3rd largest city in Arizona, and the Arizona Republic is the largest newspaper by circulation in the crucial battleground state.
Giles listed the following reasons why he can't support Donald Trump: 1. He refused to accept the outcome of the 2020 election, and continues to do so. 2. He continues to trash the American legal system to delegitimize it. 3. He orchestrated the "fake elector" scheme in Arizona. 4. He orchestrated the sham "audit" of the election by the Arizona Senate and Cyber Ninjas. 5. He blocked the bipartisan border bill negotiated in the Senate. 6. He treated Infrastructure Week like a joke when cities like his badly needed it.
7. He is a convicted felon and threat to the nation. 8. He has threatened to abandoned NATO. 9. He has eroded public confidence in our institutions. 10. His advisors and associates drafted Project 2025, which is a threat to our freedoms. 11. He is crude and vulgar. Giles then listed the reasons why he isn't just anti-Trump, he is also pro-Harris: 1. The Administration delivered on their promise with infrastructure funding for the Phoenix-Mesa Airport, and made technological investments in the transportation sector. 2. Thousands of new jobs are being created in Arizona with the CHIPS Act. 3. She has taken a strong stand against gun violence. 4. She has taken a strong stand for women's rights which are under assault from MAGA Republicans.
Giles then concluded with the following: "We can choose a future for our children and grandchildren based on decency, respect and morality — or succumb to the crudeness and vulgarity of Trump and J.D. Vance and the far-right agenda they would champion.
Arizona leaders like McCain and Sen. Mark Kelly have embodied the commitment to country over party. And it’s that same high caliber of character and leadership I see in Vice President Harris.
That’s why I’m standing with her. Kamala Harris is the competent, just and fair leader our country deserves. This year too much is at stake to vote Republican at the top of the ticket.
It will take Arizona Republicans, independents and Democrats standing together against a far-right agenda. Let us put country over party by voting to stop Trump and protect our democracy."
Powerful stuff.
Winning back Arizona is crucial for Donald Trump. It is difficult to see any electoral path to victory for Trump without Arizona. He has continued to support candidates in that state like Kari Lake and Blake Masters who are toxic to moderate voters. He continues to attack the McCain family, who remain popular with those same moderate Arizona voters.
This endorsement by Giles certainly doesn't help Donald Trump, and gives a big boost to Kamala Harris in Arizona.
