👥 answered here
🦋 [BUTTERFLY] -> Does your Original Character belong to any of the organisations or groups on Jorvik - Dark Core, the Keepers, the Rangers, the GED, one of the Stables, etc.?
Ylva - She's not as inducted into the Keepers of Aideen as much as they'd like her to be, since Ylva wants to keep some semblance of independence. She also helps out the Rangers a fair bit.
Phoenix - She works at Starshine Ranch and and because of her girlfriend she ends up helping out the Rangers a lot.
Branwen - Generally keeps to herself, aside from annual coven meetings. Wants to learn more about the Vala but that's about it.
Calamity - Only affiliated with the circus
✨️ [STARS] -> Does your Character have any powers? Including anything beside what is known from current SSO Lore (the Circles, etc.)
Ylva - She's a reincarnation of a goddess and has the powers of all four Circles
Phoenix - She probably has some latent magical powers, but hasn't realised them yet. As far as she knows, she's a regular human
Branwen - She's a witch apprentice and has ancestry among the Vala, so once she gets a handle on her magic she'll be a real magic powerhouse
Calamity - Her magic is a bit screwy, due to her being Pandorian
🏆 [TROPHY] -> Is your Original Character known across the island? Are they known for something specific, e.g. how Lisa is a musician and Anne a dressage rider, etc.
Ylva - She's not as well known in the dressage world as Anne, but she's getting there. She's also fairly well known in lower eventing circles
Phoenix - She's pretty well known for her trick riding and mounted shooting in Western circles, and to a lesser extent, known for her main career as an animal trainer for films and tv shows
Branwen - No, she keeps to herself, and no one has any reason to know who she is and she'd like to keep it that way
Calamity - She's not famous by any stretch, but she does occasionally get recognised by people who have been to the circus

A link to my personal reading of the Scriptures
for the 9th of September 2024 with a paired chapter from each Testament (the First & the New Covenant) of the Bible
[The Book of Revelation, Chapter 9 • The Book of Joshua, Chapter 4]
along with Today’s reading from the ancient books of Proverbs and Psalms with Proverbs 9 and Psalm 9 coinciding with the day of the month, accompanied by Psalm 82 for the 82nd day of Astronomical Summer, and Psalm 103 for day 253 of the year (with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 2nd revolution this year)
A post by John Parsons:
The only way we will draw near to God is by believing that He draws near to us, personally, intimately... "Behold I stand at the door and knock" (Rev. 3:20). Faith “hears the knock” as God's desire to draw near... faith hears his voice and opens the door to his presence; faith believes to partake in his communion.... "Draw near to God and he draws near to you" (James 4:8). The Hebrew word karov (קרוב) is translated using engidzo (ἐγγίζω) in New Testament Greek, a word that means to come close and touch... When we draw close to God, we reach out and find God holding us. Our "I" melts away as we cling to God as our dear life; we become one with his heart; and by means of this blessing we lose ourselves to find ourselves...
"Turn to me, and I will turn to you..." (Zech. 1:3). Someone might wonder why we must take the initiative, but that is because God has never turned away from us; he has always been the one who loves us most of all and awaits our return to his love.... "Turn to me and you will discover that I have never left you nor forsaken you."
Yeshua illustrated the idea of teshuvah (i.e., תְּשׁוּבָה, “returning to God”) by telling the famous story of the "prodigal son" (Luke 15:11-32). After selfishly squandering his father's inheritance, a wayward son decided to return home, full of shame and self-reproach. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." The father then ordered a celebratory meal in honor of his lost son's homecoming. When his older brother objected, the father said, "We had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found."
This parable reveals that teshuvah ultimately means returning (shuv) to the outstretched arms of your Heavenly Father... God sees you while you are still “a long way off” (Rom. 5:8). He runs to you with affection when you first begin to turn your heart toward Him. Indeed, God’s compassion is so great that He willingly embraces the shame of your sins and then adorns you with “a fine robe, a ring, and sandals.” Your Heavenly Father even slaughters the "fattened calf" (Yeshua) so that a meal that celebrates your life may be served...

Note
Just finished reading A Witch in Wartwood and I have to say it's really good! Aside from the excellent characterization and writing, it's nice to see a role swap AU that's more willing to break with the stations of canon and go off into it's own direction.
Hmm, odd thought, since they're so similar in a lot of aspects yet starkly different in others, what do you suppose would happen if Marcy took the place of Luz in The Owl House? Actually quite easy to set something like that up, the plot of Amphibia just... doesn't happen and Marcy's parents happen to move to Connecticut.
Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying the fic so far. And yeah, I think an important element of any AU is to explore how things could have gone differently. Cause otherwise what would be the point.
Speaking of Anon, I kind of wish you had sent this in the morning cause the second half of your question straight up dug into my brain I can't stop thinking about it and it is now 4am. (or it was, I passed out after about 1000 words can came back the next day. )
But since I don't have time in my life for a second massive retelling fanfic staring Marcy Wu, here is just a rough outline of the first 4 episodes + Prologue of such an AU
Prologue: Calamity Trio
Okay, so there are 2 ways to handle this, both I think are good, not sure which I would go with if I had to choose, but luckily I don't so here are the options
The move has more or less destroyed the girls relationship. Without Marcy there to mediate Anne and Sasha hit a breaking point and when Marcy refuses to choose a side, she ends up losing both of them as friends. This as an option is interesting because unlike Luz it would give Marcy less of an incentive to have/find a way home once she goes to the boiling isles.
The move was very recent and Marcy is still in contact with Anne and Sasha and after getting trapped in the other world wants to get back before a scheduled trip to visit them in LA for the summer. This I think gives her some interesting motivation vis a vis Eda, (which will make sense in a moment) but I like less because it gives her a lot of active baggage to carry into this AU.
Chapter 1: The Castle
I think we start out with more or less the original set up for Luz. Marcy spots a strange species of owl she can't identify stealing trash and just follows it out of curiosity. She ends up following owlbert through the portal gets spooked by Eda and ends up right at this moment ···
Which is where we hit our first Major change. And it. Is. A. Doozy. Marcy fails to stop herself at the cliffside and just plunges over the side cause she be clumsy like that. She breaks something, lets call it a leg for old times sake. She gets taken in by the Guard to the healing coven, and while she is resting, a report that there is a human on the boiling island makes its way to Belos.
Belos immediately takes an interest in Marcy and has her brought to the castle. He is extremely pleased to meet another human for the first time in centuries, but is put off Marcy makes it clear she is fascinated by this world of magic and wants to learn some herself (cause of course she does). So he sets to disabusing her of these wants by assigning her to the most prickly, uptight, and generally unpleasant Witch he has under his employ: Lilith "Punched me in the face 3 centuries ago and I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" Clawthorne.
Believing that A. Lilith would resent having to look after a powerless human and would push Marcy to put more value into listening to Belos. Belos gives Marcy a gift of an illusion stone that will subtly shift her appearance to be more witch-like, so that she will draw less attention to herself.
Chapter 2: Black Magic
Marcy, like Luz, is extremely excited to learn magic, but her expectations are crushed when Lilith coolly informs her that, as a human, Marcy has no bile sack and will never be able to do magic. He then just sets her down in her office and leaves her there when a report on Eda's actions comes in and Lilith decides to go handle it.
Marcy, without much else to do decides to start reading Lilith's history books. By the time Lilith comes back, probably humiliated by Eda again, Marcy has QUESTIONS. Just incredibly curious about the history of the isles and magic in general. Lilith is taken off guard at first, but tries to keep herself distant, still resenting being charged with babysitting Marcy.
Then Marcy asks about a theory made by one of Lilith's historical rivals and she just goes off on an academic tirade about how under sourced and garbage his conclusions are. Eventually getting so annoyed incensed that she insists the two of them go on an expedition just to prove Lilith's old school rival wrong. Marcy is down cause, hell yeah, adventure. They have a fun romp in some ancient temple where at first it seems like Lilith is proven wrong at every turn, but eventually uncover that her rival was just forging evidence to shore up her bad theory.
They both return to the castle, Lilith more than satisfied to prove her rival a fraud. She's also genuinely happy she had a chance to talk about history with someone and wonders why Marcy, a human, would be so invested in the history of witches.Marcy forlornly states that if she can't be a witch herself, at least she can learn about real life magic vicariously through the history of witches. Lilith, feeling a pang of guilt for the way she dismissed Marcy's dreams earlier gives it some more thought.
Lilith then voices that there is one coven track Marcy might be able to do. It will be difficult, since she won't be able to easily gather her own components, but that it was possible potion making might be within Marcy's capabilities even without magic. (We know this is possible because in season 2 Eda and Lilith both keep creating potions despite having no magic. )
Marcy is of course psyched and hugs Lilith, extremely grateful to be given the chance to learn magic. During the lesson, Marcy voices curiosity as to why, if potion making can be done without magic, is it one of the 9 covens. Afterall, if anyone can do potioncraft regardless of sigil, why even try to limit it with one? Lilith can't actually answer her beyond the 'titan wills it' thing, and this is a seed of curiosity that will eventually sprout into doubt for Lilith.
Chapter 3: Hunting for Glyphs.
We get Hunter early, cause of course.
Marcy has been having weekly meetings with Belos, and Hunter is extremely distrustful (and jealous) of Marcy. . During one of these meetings Marcy admits that while things were going alright with Lilith and she appreciates Belos taking time each week to talk to her, it is a little lonely without anyone her age to talk to.  On a related note, Belos is a little annoyed Marcy has begun to learn potioncraft, but is comforted when Marcy compares it to the human pursuit of chemistry.
After said meeting, Hunter ambushes Marcy about her intentions, making wild accusations of her wanting to pursue wild magic!
"What's wild magic?" Marcy asks, understandably.
Hunter then goes into maybe a little too much detail about it and Marcy just keeps feeding him questions until he lets slip that there were even demons without a scratch of magic to their name who were said to be capable of wild magic. Then that witches used to gather by the knee cause it was a great source of power.
Marcy now armed with knowledge that it might be possible for her to learn even more magic, thanks hunter and sets out for the knee. Hunter is a bit bewildered on how the conversation had gotten away from him but decides that she'll probably die out there all alone and is satisfied. Worse comes to worse, he could have her charged with heresy for her now genuine interest in wild magic.
This is when Belos calls Hunter in and basically sets Hunter up to be Marcy's playmate, explaining that Hunter should consider Marcy distant family lost in a new world and needing their guidance to stay on the correct path. He asks that Hunter keep an eye on her and to keep her safe. Brokering no argument.
Hunter now scared out of his mind of disappointing Belos by getting Marcy killed races off after her. Marcy is fully outfitted for the snowing environment (cause she studied the geography of the islands) Hunter finds her as the Golden Guard and insists they return to the castle together.  Marcy refuses and the two basically get into a slap fight over it, and Hunters staff gets thrown down into a canyon. When he panics Marcy asks why he doesn't just use magic to summon it back to him or something, and Hunter is basically forced to admit he can't do magic without the staff.
Hunter is in no way prepared for the cold environment and now basically needs to rely on Marcy to not freeze to death up on the knee. They travel down into the canyon to retrieve Hunter's staff and discover the ice glyph in frozen ice crystals. Hunter is wary but Marcy has proven all the way down to this point that studying and knowledge is nothing to fear. Ignorance is where danger lies, and if they wanted to really be safe from wild magic, they would have to understand it.
They discover the staff has been taken in by some clever predator (demon probably) and Hunter is forced to use the ice glyph to save Marcy, coming around to Marcy's way of thinking. The two make a secret pact to study wild magic, Hunter so he might find a way to cure his uncle and Marcy who just wants to learn.
These two will basically develop a bickering sibling relationship.
Episode 4: Ridealong
So context for this requires a headcanon of mine. In Covention its implied that Amity is a student of Lilith's but that's never really elaborated on or explored after that episode. So my headcanon for that is that Amity was basically a part of a Emperor's Coven internship program that Amity earned and includes spending time with the head of the emperor's coven (Lilith). Canon!Amity backs out of the program after being humiliated at the covention.
Alright! Back to the Au
so Amity shows up to shadow Lilith for the day, and there's this... other girl there? For some reason? And Lilith who is usually this unshakable rock of cool demeanor is laughing at this girl's cringe-y niche history jokes? And worse, Lilith is returning them?!? With worse jokes?! Also before they set off Lilith gives Marcy a bracelet of Clumsiness Token, which acts as a kind of featherfall charm, so that Marcy stops injuring herself by tripping over her own two feet. Amity quickly sees the necessity of this and is again utterly bewildered as to how Marcy could be in the same lofty position Amity had to earn.
Amity immediately becomes suspicious of Marcy, thinking she must have some kind of hold over Lilith. Marcy is totally unaware of this animosity as the group goes about their day.
At some point Marcy offers Lilith one of her concoctions and Amity smacks it out of hand. Lilith explains that Marcy was just trying to recreate 'soda' some far off beverage and Amity is embarrassed(I don't remember if there is witch soda in the Owl House). Marcy offers one to Amity for their mid morning break, and Amity takes it reluctantly complimenting the flavor.
A second misunderstanding occurs when they are trying to apprehend some demon in the name of the coven. Amity, eager to upstage Marcy summons an abomination to grab the demon and restrain them. Marcy, nose in a book, then tackles Amity to the side and Amity goes off on her for trying to sabotage the capture(loud enough for Lilith to hear). only for the demon Amity's abomination is grappling with to explodes spikes everywhere and the place Amity had been standing is absolutely pincushion. Marcy explains that type of demon had a defense mechanism when something tries to hold it down. Lilith commends Marcy for her quick thinking and Amity is again humiliated.
The third misunderstanding comes near the end of the day, when Amity notices the illusion stone on Marcy's wrist. Amity rips it off and reveals Marcy as a human 'revealing the truth' to Lilith, explaining how Marcy was tricking her. Lilith, already knowing Marcy's circumstances is exasperated with the young Miss Blight. She snatches the illusion stone and hands it back to Marcy. Lilith explains that she had hoped today to serve as a meeting between her two protégé's prior to Marcy's enrollment into Hex side, but that perhaps she didn't need two protege's if today was indicative of Amity's attitude.
Amity is extremely frustrated, but Marcy makes a show of digging through her bag and just before Lilith officially does away with Amity's internship interrupts her.  Marcy sheepishly explains that she thinks she might have given Amity a potion of paranoia by mistake during their break earlier. Lilith horrified and starts lecturing Marcy on how irresponsible it is to keep potions unlabeled like that, and begs her to consider what might have happened if she, the head of the Emperor's Coven had received the potion in place of Amity.
Amity meanwhile is perplexed cause she felt this suspicion towards Marcy prior to the potion and didn't feel like anything had been enhanced.
Marcy apologizes but explains that she still has the antidote and hurries over to hand it over to Amity. Amity takes it hesitantly but Lilith insists, saying any hesitation she feels is likely the remains of the paranoia potion in her system. Amity drinks, confirming it is not an antidote and instead more of the sugary soda. Marcy gives Amity a little wink, letting her in on the lie.
Lilith is disappointed in Marcy and apologizes to Amity for mix up. Marcy gives Amity a little wave as they depart on Lilith's staff. Amity returns it, feeling a confused sense of gratitude.
Alright out of my system, I would probably refine this more if I was full on going to write it, but the basic idea would be Hunter, Marcy, and Amity becoming our main trio with Eda as a kind of light hearted season antagonist. Right up until the finale when the gang finds the graveyard of the Golden Guards and Belos is revealed for what he truly is.
Also Marcy "I employed Chemical Warfare in my first onscreen appearance" Wu absolutely wrecks Boscha in a witches duel after an episode of Amity and Hunter both stressing over it, thinking Marcy couldn't be ruthless or malicious enough to take on the school bully. I'm not sure how I would justify getting Hunter into Hexside, but I think it would be fun.

I’d honestly throw Lilith up there with Mabel & Marcy as a trio of characters, who could get demonized for their actions by people. I’ve seen those give her plenty of shit for the revelation of cursing Eda, which she didn’t even intend for it to be an everlasting one, either. Lilith only wanted it to be for a day, so she could have a guaranteed shot at winning the last spot in the Emperor’s Coven. All three share a similar scenario of causing unintentional pain to other characters when they never meant to, only doing what they thought felt “right”, at the time.
-Mabel didn’t want summer to end or face growing more distant in the future from Dipper, akin to Stanley & Stanford’s tragic dynamic. It weighed heavily on Mabel’s mind more so than her brother’s, where to be faced with this idea he’d stay with Ford over being by her side through thick and thin made the kid super anxious about everything. She had zero clue though about the dimensional rift that Ford & Dipper chose to keep a secret. That wasn’t her fault. What Mabel needed to accept responsibility for was running away from reality.
-Marcy was beyond desperate to seek an escape from her life. Anne & Sasha accepted her for who the kid was, geekiness, clumsiness, and all. Her motto was, “Friends for life, no matter what.”, so there wasn’t any thing, not even her parents, to stop her from seeing it through. While the girl had some idea of what she was getting into because she read about the Calamity Box in an ancient book, Marcy wasn’t 100% certain this last ditch effort idea would work in an attempt to maintain this ideal happiness for herself. The only thing Marcy was truly guilty of is taking serious advantage of her friends in a shitty way, presuming they’d be fine with being torn away from a normal every day life.
-Lilith desired to change their world for the better, through joining the Emperor’s Coven. While Lilith had always admired Eda’s skills, there was an underlying bitterness behind this respect, which made her go through with finding a curse to incapacitate her sister’s impressive magic abilities temporarily. However, Lilith was so horrified, not to mention ashamed of herself, for putting her sister through such an ordeal. That’s why she stayed with Belos in attempting to lure Eda into their Coven somehow because he promised to break the curse. Much like Marcy, Lilith was played like a fiddle by her respective antagonist.
These three characters share some kind responsibility for their actions, which I agree with. Although, to simplify their decisions as something downright bad doesn’t sit right with me. There’s a lot more to each of them, than that.

( sam heughan, 131, male, he/him, werewolf, omega) It’s been a while since we’ve seen CONNELL WINCHESTER. I hear they’re a WEREWOLF and they reside on the SOUTHSIDE. They’re known to frequent CRESCENT LAKE (when they’re not busy trying to find his home within Calamity once more) and have made a place at LUNAR HEIGHTS. Some may say they act COLD & QUIET, while others claim they are RESILIENT & HONOURABLE. With that being said, they’ve found the State of Calamity.
Connell came from a powerful witch kin; a century ago. Within the coven of the Darcy family, the Winchester’s sat just below the heads of the heirarchy. A coven driven by witch purism and power of bloodlines, Connell’s parents believed inherently in the practice of marriage to act as the bridge to continue the breeding and reign of power within their coven. Because of this, it was decided even as children, that Connell would be offered up to marry the Darcy’s daughter; Esme, to continue to welding of purity and power. - Even while knowing their marriage was arranged, a matter of political strategy and as far as their parents concerned, motivated by the belief in purity, that was not the case for Connell. Since he was young, he had great feeling toward Esme. What began as an innocent friendship as children, only developed into an intimate affection for her as time went on. As his body grew and changed, as did his feelings. He was ready to marry her, as long as she was him.1
That was, until, at the age of nineteen, Connell had ventured out into the forests, and came face to face with a wolf. Left with a bite, shivering and shaking on the forest floor, it was Esme that found him and took him back to the coven. She begged them to save him. They practiced powerful magic, but it was no use. The transition took place, and Connell’s magic transitioned from witch…into wolf. No longer fitting the coven’s purpose of pure witch blood lineage, Connell was no longer a desirable fit to wed the Darcy’s daughter, or to be apart of his own kin. Exiled out of the coven and sent to be amongst his own, he hasn’t seen anyone from the coven since that century long ago. - Quickly, he found the wolf who had bit him after his exile. As though he had almost been awaiting his arrival, Connell came face to face with the wolf who had taken his life from him, his path, and a boiling rage existed inside of him at that for decades following. However, he felt he couldn’t abandon Izyk as quickly as he had found him, knowing he no longer had anyone, anything, he stayed with Izyk, learnt what it was to be a wolf, to use his new senses, new body, and for years and years the two creatures prowled the lands together, having very little, except each other.
Eventually, he found someone who lit him up for what felt like a warm summer’s day, before the sun went back down and it was cold once more. Esmeray, the witch who captivated him with her charm and intelligence. The woman who made him feel as though he had the magic running within his veins once more. A powerful witch, with spice and sweetness. She was one of the few who could open him up and make him spill out his secrets and his vulnerability. They fell in love, quickly, deeply, and out of it just as fast. Esmeray disappeared from his life, and as though she had never existed at all, Connell returned to the coldness that was his life running through the woods within the chilling trees. It was still unknown to him that Esmeray had his child, lost his child, and had returned to find their boy within time and bring him back since their departure. - He separated from Izyk for sometime after Esmeray, going off on his own to be alone with his thoughts and nurture the struggle he held within his heart. He felt he was never supposed to have been a wolf. He was supposed to have been a powerful sorcerer, and go down a different path of magic and witchcraft — he knows Izyk has been in Calamity for some time now and is now coming to find his chosen brother after their long separation. What he doesn’t know, is he’ll be finding a lot more alongside him.

Autumnal Drabble
Tumblr media
The season’s youth crumbled on an Autumnesque painting of London. Any trace of Summer was terminated by a wicked and unforgiving frost. Each breath raked ice within one’s lungs as he took in the air, and any exposed expanse of skin was chilled to stone. The weather was unforgivable in its icy disposition, thus October was nearing its denouement. Any organism left with a shred of life trembled in the wind, as if it could be victim to Autumn’s gales, and Lord Phantomhive was no exception. In spite of his unyielding glare, he, too, felt vulnerably measly at the hand of nature’s demeanour. He watched as each pearling smoke of his breath rose above his top hat and mingled with the ashen skies. Beneath layers of wool and rabbit fur, the boy shook, still. Winter was upon Victoria’s Empire, and it would prove relentless.
Still, Ciel sought refuge in such a scenery, as dead leaves flurried about his billowing cape. Trees skeletal like his hands, paths well-trodden and saturated just as his soul; icy, diluted, dreary, unloved, and solemn, all too akin to the Earl of Phantomhive and his bitterness. The gardens had been laid to rest, vines and rose thorns tangling in a brown foliage about the pathway, and hazel vines wrapped ‘round stone pillars almost as white as the youth’s cheek. He, like a fawn, approached the gazebo and paused. The rusted leaves scraped up the steps and frolicked across the marble, and Ciel’s gaze followed them curiously as they were whisked aimlessly into piles of their kin. The iris which he displayed was ever azure, but mirrored the sombre grey of his surroundings, as if his very spirit was ridden with calamity.
Which, was palpable through the covenant, Ciel knew.
His company was quick to follow, even without beckon or invitation. A butler clad in black displayed such contrast ‘gainst the diluted trees and their dead blades. His master chose not to greet him with his stare, but indulged in their serene silence. A cacophony of autumnal detritus played between them, and the boy proceeded to the stone structure, turning on his heel to cast his gaze to Sebastian from the banister. “I presume you’ve come to remind me not to catch cold in such weather,” he began, his countenance subdued and untelling. “I find this sort of element familiar and welcoming; it cannot be helped. Moreover, we suit this climate all too well. Don’t you agree, Sebastian?” He held the demon’s gaze for another indulgent second before tossing his head in a summoning gesture for the raven to join him.

[Tianci 6, 1 February 409 – 19 February 410]
6th Year, Summer, the Emperor was not at ease.
Earlier, the Emperor was accustomed to Cold Food Powder. Since after the death of the Prefect Grand Doctor, Yin Qiang, the medicine often bestirred and emerged, by this point it was beyond considerable. Yet calamities and mishaps were again and again seen, he was anxious and troubled, and not calm. Sometimes he did not eat for several days, sometimes he did not sleep until dawn. He took refuge in faulting the crowd of subordinates, joy and anger were inconsistent and regular. He said the hundred companions and the people left and right could not be trusted, worried about and deferred to divinations of the Heavenly patterns, and sometimes had concerns about of the elbows and armpits.
He recalled and thought of when he had in the past succeed or failed, gained or lost. For the whole day until night  he would talk alone without stop, as if near him there were ghosts replying and standing out. When court subjects arrived before him, he recalled their old offences. All were killed and always had them killed and murdered. The remainder, sometimes due to the colour of the face changing or shifted, sometimes due to gasping or breathing uncontrolled, sometimes due to walking with inconsistent steps, sometimes due to speaking with phrases lacking in arrangement, the Emperor always considered them to have breasts with loathing in their hearts, by chance visible on the outside. He therefore beat and struck them with his own hands. The dead were all displayed before the Heavenly Calm Hall.
Hence people at court or in the countryside felt each in their breasts imperilled and frightened. The ministers were idle and negligent and did not assist in supervising and administering, the hundred artisans stole and coerced and robbers and thieves acted publicly. Among the alleys and lanes, people became few and rare. The Emperor likewise heard about it, and said:
Our indulging them made it so. To prepare beyond the calamitous year, [We] must further purify and put them in order like this.
Autumn, 7th Month [28 July – 26 August], the Murong's dispersed dependants, more than a hundred families, made plans wishing to run outside. They were discovered and sentenced to execution, the dead were more than 300 people.
8th Month [27 August – 24 September], the King of Wey, Yi, planned rebellion and was bestowed death.
Winter, 10th Month, wuchen [6 November], the Emperor expired in the Heavenly Calm Hall, at the time he was aged 39.
2nd Year of Yongxing, 9th Month, jiayin [18 October 410], the Sovereign posthumously named him the Proclaiming and Martial [xuanwu] August Emperor, he was buried in Shengle's Golden Mound. His temple title was Grand Founder [taizu].
5th Year of Taichang [420 AD], changed the posthumous title to Guiding and Martial [daowu].
Your Subject the Historian says:
The Jin clan collapsed and left, the Rong and Jie exploited the breach, usurped bogus tangled ropes, dholes and wolves competed and raced. Taziu, in the middle of revealing the hidden and calming the imperilled, at the juncture of bending and extending, hiding and cantering, spurred on to lead the cast-away numerous, exerting their vitality and martial skill, overcoming the divided regions' difficulties, thereupon opening the Central Plains, at court saluting men and gods, making evident the climb to the august pinnacle.
Even with cap and shoes, he did not relax, roosting in leisure in the outer lands, but arranged and made guiding plans, all existing for long generations. It is being said a great man is a profit to see, the hundred families giving the able, suppressing the divine martial not of the generation. Yet difficulties and adversity had their appointed times, misfortune was born unexpectedly, perhaps people's affairs were insufficient, why did Heaven really do it? Alas!

LF RP Connections~
It's been a long while since I've done this, so here goes! I’m currently looking for more personal RP connections / contacts / partners! I am open for both discord and in-game RP, though because of a sometimes-erratic schedule IRL and running an RP FC, discord often works better for me.
(More details under the cut!)
I am looking for a wide range of RP, from one-off encounters, casual rp, to longer term plots.  My interests range from slice-of-life to adventure to horror & darker themes with a good dash of drama and angst. While I am not particularly looking for romantic story-arcs / RP - I am not opposed to it on my currently unattached characters should a connection form and it makes sense within the context of the story.
If you want an enthusiastic & engaged rp partner that loves discussing plotting & stories, and that values communication, please contact me!  I can be reached here on tumblr, or on discord:  snarksonomy#5640 Please note: I am primarily located on the Balmung Server, though for the sake of discord RP that doesn’t matter much.
The characters:
Milloux Allard Shroudborn Duskwight - raised primarily in La Noscea. Advocate of the Ashen Enclave, Humanitarian, Reluctant Noble & sometimes-vigilante. Age: 26 (give or take one or two. She doesn’t know her nameday) Orientation: bisexual Tumblr: http://aethersmoke-and-ash.tumblr.com Playlist: Spotify~
Milloux is a complicated woman with a complicated past - someone currently caught at a crossroads in life. More and more, the face she presents to the world is divorced from the woman she once was; the kind and enigmatic humanitarian eclipsing the once rough-and-tumble 'Good Samaritan' and mark hunter.  Not as quick to throw a punch, she can still hold her own -- though these days it's more likely to be a gala than a bar brawl.
She wears her secrets-- and there are many-- like a second skin, and while her methods may sometimes be questionable, her intentions are nearly always good.
Looking for -
Allies / Friends (Both past and present! Milloux has lead a colorful, eventful, and not always 'legitimate' life in her relatives short 26 years. There are whispers of her former involvement with a notorious smuggling & piracy ring in Vylbrand, to say nothing her experiences as a markhunter...and most recently, noblewoman and humanitarian.)
A tutor in thaumaturgy / Black magic (or an associated cabal/coven / etc. She acquired a black mage's stone some time ago now, and is largely self-taught. A novice at best, learning to properly harness the power that whispers to and tempts her is something I really want to pursue)
Antagonists / Adversaries ( Past and present. Running a charity in Thanalan is bound to ruffle some monetarist feathers, to say nothing of Ishgardians skeptical of her claims to nobility. Or those those from the past she’s left behind - both those she had been bound to, those she might have wronged, and those she hunted.)
Nalette Rainteaux - Gridanian & Ishgardian, Wildwood.  Arcanist, alchemist, scholar. Age: 30 Orientation: bi-curious (largely inexperienced.) Tumblr: summon-the-rain.tumblr.com Playlist: Spotify
Born of an Ishgardian noblewoman and a Gridanian merchant, Nalette is a quietly composed scholar, coming off to most as stern, dismissive and aloof. Mostly, she's just shy and self-interested.  She took to studying arcanima over conjury when proved to be of only middling talent with the latter - something that remains a sore point.
As an arcanist, she is devoted to combining the art with her understanding and study of alchemy, perhaps as a means to distill her greatest aims, that of recapturing and emulating the summoners of ages past.
She is hesitant and sheltered in many respects, restless and dissatisfied with her current life - but not entirely certain how to change things. She may also be writing 'romance' novels under a thoroughly secret pseudonym.
Looking for -
Academic peers, colleagues, etc
Adventure. Disaster. Someone or something to disrupt the quiet order of her life. Nalette tends to work best with folks that contrast sharply to her and challenge her.
Childhood friends / past contacts!  Nalette is Gridanian raised, but spent childhood summers and holidays in Ishgard proper with her family there until the gates closed. Friend might be an overstatement, she is a loner, a bookworm and a wallflower.
Failed suitors - Notoriously fickle and disinterested, she has spurned her fair share of those seeking her hand - both Ishgardian and Gridanian.
Possible suitors? Good luck, of course.
Amelie Sophenaux - Shroudborn? duskwight - Singing & Gunslinging - the rebel without a clue. Age: 23 Orientation: bisexual Tumblr: http://aetherial-sonata.tumblr.com Playlist: Spotify
Broad grins and confident swagger, Amelie makes a show of portraying someone far more worldly and experienced with life than she truly is.  She has a thousand and one reasons and excuses for why she left home at a young age, and none of them have more than a glimmer of truth to them. Most have less than that.
She spent the past few years since the Calamity with a small traveling carnival - a natural flair for acrobatics and performance translating well to the stage.  She has no small surfeit of talent, she learns new skills quickly and has an almost insatiable desire to learn more.
She recently parted ways with her former employers to look into other possibilities. Right now, that means trying her hand at mark hunting. And she may well be over her head, this time.
(Amelie is a newer character and I haven't done anything with her yet, really! She's a blank slate waiting to see how she develops through RP and experience. I am truly up for pretty much whatever with her, to see where the chips fall!)
Looking for:
Misfits, performers, other circus folk to spend time / perform with
Adventure! Excitement!
Childhood friends / contacts.   Especially those that might have been working to learn conjury before she suddenly stopped her studies.
Companions, friends, family, etc
Open plots needing more participants, etc
Emiyyah Lyehga -Keeper of the Moon - Courtesan, Coquette, Counsel. Age: 34 Orientation: bisexual Tumblr: http://rose-and-thorns.tumblr.com Playlist: (none yet!)
Elegant and refined, Emiyyah Lyehga is a shroudrose cultivated and nurtured in Ul'dah.  The former proprietress of the Rose and Thorn, an exclusive pillowhouse catering to the the tastes and desires of discerning clientele - she now serves the Ashen Enclave as a counselor and counsel to the Advocate.
Sweetly spoken, she is ever the picture of poise and politeness - making it difficult to discern where the image she portrays and the woman she truly is begins or ends.  Far from a mere coquette or companion, however - Emiyyah's true intentions lay with her operations funded by the profits of the Rose and Thorn and her own inheritances.  Quiet whispers speak of a rosy-haired Keeper buying up the contracts of the downtrodden, liberating them and offering them safe refuge.  ... and those she has employed over the years to rid the realm of those that would shackle others.
Looking for:
(Former) Clientele - (While no no longer accepting new clients or actively working as a courtesan, Emiyyah maintains friendly relationships with many of those she saw on a regular basis and will likely still (happily) act as social escort and offer companionship to them.)
Friends / Companions / Apprentices
Emotional support / Physical therapy- Emiyyah works as a counselor for the Ashen Enclave, specializing in helping others overcome past traumas and emotional imbalances.
Antagonists - Certain activities have ruffled many feathers over the years, earning the rose-colored catte a good many enemies among those seeking to harm others.
T'many Allowe - Seeker of the Sun, The best damn courier in Ul'dah. Age: 19 (or so) Orientation: pansexual Tumblr: http://tams-catte.tumblr.com Playlist: Spotify
Loud, impulsive and raucous - Tams is nothing short of (and she is short) a trouble-maker with a heart of gold.  Until fairly recently, she lived on the streets of Ul'dah - working piecemeal as a courier. She has a talent for instigating fights and slinging playful insults. If she gives you a nickname, it means she likes you.
She comes from a particularly precarious offshoot of the Condor Tribe; superstitious scavengers from the Southern Sagolii fallen on particularly hard times and unfavorable auspice.  She escaped the fate the tribe had in mind for her, and the portents they believed she would bring to them, and seems particularly reluctant to speak about that time in her life.  She's also fairly terrified they're still looking for her to bring her "home" - willingly or not.
Looking for:
Drinking buddies / partners in "crime" / casual friends / other strays
Adventure / Hijinks / Light-hearted RP
Work! Need something delivered discreetly and quickly around Thanalan? She's your courier.
Tribal shaman / those acquainted with the Echo.  Tams has the Echo, and is still learning how to cope and harness those abilities.  Hers has manifested in an eidtic memory, and the ability to see snippets of those belonging to others.
I have two other characters as well - Jordain Allard and Leandre Mercier! You can see a snippet of them here.

September 19: Proverbs 27–28; Titus 3:8–11; Psalm 74; Proverbs 24:1–2
Old Testament:
Proverbs 27–28
Proverbs 27–28 (Listen)
27   Do not boast about tomorrow,     for you do not know what a day may bring. 2   Let another praise you, and not your own mouth;     a stranger, and not your own lips. 3   A stone is heavy, and sand is weighty,     but a fool’s provocation is heavier than both. 4   Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming,     but who can stand before jealousy? 5   Better is open rebuke     than hidden love. 6   Faithful are the wounds of a friend;     profuse are the kisses of an enemy. 7   One who is full loathes honey,     but to one who is hungry everything bitter is sweet. 8   Like a bird that strays from its nest     is a man who strays from his home. 9   Oil and perfume make the heart glad,     and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.Or and so does the sweetness of a friend that comes from his earnest counsel‘>1 10   Do not forsake your friend and your father’s friend,     and do not go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity.   Better is a neighbor who is near     than a brother who is far away. 11   Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad,     that I may answer him who reproaches me. 12   The prudent sees danger and hides himself,     but the simple go on and suffer for it. 13   Take a man’s garment when he has put up security for a stranger,     and hold it in pledge when he puts up security for an adulteress.Hebrew a foreign woman; a slight emendation yields (compare Vulgate; see also 20:16) foreigners‘>2 14   Whoever blesses his neighbor with a loud voice,     rising early in the morning,     will be counted as cursing. 15   A continual dripping on a rainy day     and a quarrelsome wife are alike; 16   to restrain her is to restrain the wind     or to graspHebrew to meet with‘>3 oil in one’s right hand. 17   Iron sharpens iron,     and one man sharpens another.Hebrew sharpens the face of another‘>4 18   Whoever tends a fig tree will eat its fruit,     and he who guards his master will be honored. 19   As in water face reflects face,     so the heart of man reflects the man. 20   Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied,     and never satisfied are the eyes of man. 21   The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold,     and a man is tested by his praise. 22   Crush a fool in a mortar with a pestle     along with crushed grain,     yet his folly will not depart from him. 23   Know well the condition of your flocks,     and give attention to your herds, 24   for riches do not last forever;     and does a crown endure to all generations? 25   When the grass is gone and the new growth appears     and the vegetation of the mountains is gathered, 26   the lambs will provide your clothing,     and the goats the price of a field. 27   There will be enough goats’ milk for your food,     for the food of your household     and maintenance for your girls. 28   The wicked flee when no one pursues,     but the righteous are bold as a lion. 2   When a land transgresses, it has many rulers,     but with a man of understanding and knowledge,     its stability will long continue. 3   A poor man who oppresses the poor     is a beating rain that leaves no food. 4   Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,     but those who keep the law strive against them. 5   Evil men do not understand justice,     but those who seek the LORD understand it completely. 6   Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity     than a rich man who is crooked in his ways. 7   The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding,     but a companion of gluttons shames his father. 8   Whoever multiplies his wealth by interest and profitThat is, profit that comes from charging interest to the poor‘>5     gathers it for him who is generous to the poor. 9   If one turns away his ear from hearing the law,     even his prayer is an abomination. 10   Whoever misleads the upright into an evil way     will fall into his own pit,     but the blameless will have a goodly inheritance. 11   A rich man is wise in his own eyes,     but a poor man who has understanding will find him out. 12   When the righteous triumph, there is great glory,     but when the wicked rise, people hide themselves. 13   Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper,     but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. 14   Blessed is the one who fears the LORDHebrew lacks the Lord‘>6 always,     but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity. 15   Like a roaring lion or a charging bear     is a wicked ruler over a poor people. 16   A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor,     but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days. 17   If one is burdened with the blood of another,     he will be a fugitive until death;Hebrew until the pit‘>7     let no one help him. 18   Whoever walks in integrity will be delivered,     but he who is crooked in his ways will suddenly fall. 19   Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread,     but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty. 20   A faithful man will abound with blessings,     but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished. 21   To show partiality is not good,     but for a piece of bread a man will do wrong. 22   A stingy manHebrew A man whose eye is evil‘>8 hastens after wealth     and does not know that poverty will come upon him. 23   Whoever rebukes a man will afterward find more favor     than he who flatters with his tongue. 24   Whoever robs his father or his mother     and says, “That is no transgression,”     is a companion to a man who destroys. 25   A greedy man stirs up strife,     but the one who trusts in the LORD will be enriched. 26   Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool,     but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered. 27   Whoever gives to the poor will not want,     but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse. 28   When the wicked rise, people hide themselves,     but when they perish, the righteous increase.

8 The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. 9 But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. 10 As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

Arise, O God, Defend Your Cause
A MaskilProbably a musical or liturgical term‘>1 of Asaph.
74   O God, why do you cast us off forever?     Why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture? 2   Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old,     which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your heritage!     Remember Mount Zion, where you have dwelt. 3   Direct your steps to the perpetual ruins;     the enemy has destroyed everything in the sanctuary! 4   Your foes have roared in the midst of your meeting place;     they set up their own signs for signs. 5   They were like those who swing axes     in a forest of trees. The meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain‘>2 6   And all its carved wood     they broke down with hatchets and hammers. 7   They set your sanctuary on fire;     they profaned the dwelling place of your name,     bringing it down to the ground. 8   They said to themselves, “We will utterly subdue them”;     they burned all the meeting places of God in the land. 9   We do not see our signs;     there is no longer any prophet,     and there is none among us who knows how long. 10   How long, O God, is the foe to scoff?     Is the enemy to revile your name forever? 11   Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand?     Take it from the fold of your garmentHebrew from your bosom‘>3 and destroy them! 12   Yet God my King is from of old,     working salvation in the midst of the earth. 13   You divided the sea by your might;     you broke the heads of the sea monstersOr the great sea creatures‘>4 on the waters. 14   You crushed the heads of Leviathan;     you gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness. 15   You split open springs and brooks;     you dried up ever-flowing streams. 16   Yours is the day, yours also the night;     you have established the heavenly lights and the sun. 17   You have fixed all the boundaries of the earth;     you have made summer and winter. 18   Remember this, O LORD, how the enemy scoffs,     and a foolish people reviles your name. 19   Do not deliver the soul of your dove to the wild beasts;     do not forget the life of your poor forever. 20   Have regard for the covenant,     for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence. 21   Let not the downtrodden turn back in shame;     let the poor and needy praise your name. 22   Arise, O God, defend your cause;     remember how the foolish scoff at you all the day! 23   Do not forget the clamor of your foes,     the uproar of those who rise against you, which goes up continually!

Today’s reading from the ancient book of Proverbs and book of Psalms
for September 12 of 2021 with Proverbs 12 and Psalm 12, accompanied by Psalm 85 for the 85th day of Astronomical Summer and Psalm 105 for day 255 of the year (now with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 2nd revolution this year)
[Proverbs 12]
[It’s Right to Live for God]
To learn the truth you must long to be teachable,
or you can despise correction and remain ignorant.
If your heart is right, favor flows from the Lord,
but a devious heart invites his condemnation.
You can’t expect success by doing what’s wrong.
But the lives of his lovers are deeply rooted and firmly planted.
The integrity and strength of a virtuous wife
transforms her husband into an honored king.
But the wife who disgraces her husband
weakens the strength of his identity.
The lovers of God are filled with good ideas
that are noble and pure,
but the schemes of the sinner
are crammed with nothing but lies.
The wicked use their words to ambush and accuse,
but the lovers of God speak to defend and protect.
The wicked are taken out, gone for good,
but the godly families shall live on.
Everyone admires a man of principles,
but the one with a corrupt heart is despised.
Just be who you are and work hard for a living,
for that’s better than pretending to be important
and starving to death.
A good man takes care of the needs of his pets,
while even the kindest acts of a wicked man are still cruel.
Work hard at your job and you’ll have what you need.
Following a get-rich-quick scheme is nothing but a fantasy.
The cravings of the wicked are only for what is evil,
but righteousness is the core motivation for the lovers of God,
and it keeps them content and flourishing.
[Wisdom Means Being Teachable]
The wicked will get trapped by their words
of gossip, slander, and lies.
But for the righteous, honesty is its own defense.
For there is great satisfaction in speaking the truth,
and hard work brings blessings back to you.
A fool is in love with his own opinion,
but wisdom means being teachable.
[Learning to Speak Wisely]
If you shrug off an insult and refuse to take offense,
you demonstrate discretion indeed.
But the fool has a short fuse
and will immediately let you know when he’s offended.
Truthfulness marks the righteous,
but the habitual liar can never be trusted.
Reckless words are like the thrusts of a sword,
cutting remarks meant to stab and to hurt.
But the words of the wise soothe and heal.
Truthful words will stand the test of time,
but one day every lie will be seen for what it is.
Deception fills the hearts of those who plot harm,
but those who plan for peace are filled with joy.
Calamity is not allowed to overwhelm the righteous,
but there’s nothing but trouble waiting for the wicked.
Live in the truth and keep your promises,
and the Lord will keep delighting in you,
but he detests a liar.
Those who possess wisdom don’t feel the need
to impress others with what they know,
but foolish ones make sure their ignorance is on display.
If you want to reign in life,
don’t sit on your hands.
Instead, work hard at doing what’s right,
for the slacker will end up working to make someone else succeed.
Anxious fear brings depression,
but a life-giving word of encouragement
can do wonders to restore joy to the heart.
Lovers of God give good advice to their friends,
but the counsel of the wicked will lead them astray.
A passive person won’t even complete a project,
but a passionate person makes good use
of his time, wealth, and energy.
Abundant life is discovered by walking in righteousness,
but holding on to your anger leads to death.
The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 12 (The Passion Translation)
[Psalm 12]
Quick, God, I need your helping hand!
The last decent person just went down,
All the friends I depended on gone.
Everyone talks in lie language;
Lies slide off their oily lips.
They doubletalk with forked tongues.
Slice their lips off their faces!
Pull the braggart tongues from their mouths!
I’m tired of hearing, “We can talk anyone into anything!
Our lips manage the world.”
Into the hovels of the poor,
Into the dark streets where the homeless groan, God speaks:
“I’ve had enough; I’m on my way
To heal the ache in the heart of the wretched.”
God’s words are pure words,
Pure silver words refined seven times
In the fires of his word-kiln,
Pure on earth as well as in heaven.
God, keep us safe from their lies,
From the wicked who stalk us with lies,
From the wicked who collect honors
For their wonderful lies.
The Book of Psalms, Poem 12 (The Message)
[Psalm 85]
Mercy and Truth
For the Pure and Shining One
A prophetic song composed by the prophetic singers of Korah’s clan
Lord, your love has poured out
so many amazing blessings on our land!
You’ve restored Jacob’s destiny from captivity.
You’ve forgiven our many sins and covered
every one of them in your love.
Pause in his presence
So now it’s obvious that your blazing anger has ended and
the furious fire of wrath has been extinguished by your mercy.
So bring us back to loving you, God our Savior.
Restore our hearts so that we’ll never again
feel your anger rise against us.
Will you forever hold a grudge?
Will your anger endure for all time?
Revive us again, O God! I know you will! Give us a fresh start!
Then all your people will taste your joy and gladness.
Pour out even more of your love on us!
Reveal more of your kindness and restore us back to you!
Now I’ll listen carefully for your voice
and wait to hear whatever you say.
Let me hear your promise of peace—
the message every one of your godly lovers longs to hear.
Don’t let us in our ignorance turn back from following you.
For I know your power and presence shines on all your devoted lovers.
Your glory always hovers over all who bow low before you.
Your mercy and your truth have married each other.
Your righteousness and peace have kissed.
Flowers of your faithfulness are blooming on the earth.
Righteousness shines down from the sky.
Yes, the Lord keeps raining down blessing after blessing,
and prosperity will drench the land with a bountiful harvest.
For deliverance goes before him,
preparing a path for his steps.
The Book of Psalms, Poem 85 (The Passion Translation)
[Psalm 105]
Come, offer thanks to the Eternal; invoke His holy name.
Tell other people about the things He has done.
Sing songs of praise to Him;
tell stories of all His miracles.
Revel in His holy name.
May the hearts of the people who seek the Eternal celebrate and experience great joy.
Seek the Eternal and His power;
look to His face constantly.
Remember the wonderful things He has done,
His miracles and the wise decisions He has made,
O children of Abraham, His servant;
O children of Jacob, His chosen people!
He is the Eternal, our True God;
His justice extends to every corner of the earth.
He keeps His covenant promises forever
and remembers the word He spoke to a thousand generations—
The covenant He made with Abraham
and His sworn oath to Isaac, his son.
Then God confirmed it to Jacob—decreed it so—
to Israel He promised a never-ending covenant,
Saying, “I will give you the land of Canaan
as your part; it will be your inheritance.”
When God’s people were only a few in number—
indeed, very few—they were strangers in a foreign land.
They roamed from place to place,
from one kingdom to another.
God didn’t allow anyone to tyrannize them;
He rebuked kings in order to protect His people:
“Do not lay a hand on My anointed people;
do not do any harm to My prophets.”
He ordered famine to grip the land and
cut them off from their supply of bread.
But long before, He had sent a man ahead of them:
Joseph, who had been sold into slavery.
At first, his masters shackled his feet with chains,
placed his neck into a collar of iron.
That was until the Eternal’s promises came to pass;
His word tested Joseph and proved him worthy.
The king sent out the order to release him from prison;
the ruler of Egypt liberated him from the chains.
Then he put Joseph in charge of the royal household,
made him ruler of all the royal possessions,
Allowed him to imprison the royal officials whenever he saw fit
and impart wisdom to the elders in the land.
Then, when the time was right, Israel also went to Egypt;
Jacob resided as an alien in the land of Ham.
And while they were there, the Eternal made His people prosperous;
He made them stronger than their enemies.
He turned the Egyptians’ hearts against His people
to cheat and scheme against His servants.
Then, He sent His servant Moses
and Aaron, the men He had chosen.
They did all the signs He planned for them to do among the Egyptians,
and they performed miracles in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness to cover the land;
they did not stray from His word.
At His command, their waters turned to blood;
their fish began to die.
Throngs of frogs covered the land,
invading even in the chambers of their kings.
At His command, a swarm of flies arrived,
and gnats came over all their land.
He caused hail to fall instead of rain;
lightning flashed over all their land.
He struck their vines and their fig trees;
He destroyed the trees over all their land.
At His command, locusts came;
young locusts marched beyond number,
And they ate up all the plants that grew
and all the fruits over their land.
He also brought death to the firstborn in all their land,
the first offspring of each man.
Then He brought His people out of slavery, weighed down with silver and gold;
and of all His tribes,
not one of them stumbled, not one was left behind.
Egypt was glad to see them go,
for Pharaoh’s people had been overcome with fear of them.
He spread out a cloud to cover His people
and sent a fire to light their way at night.
They asked, and He sent them coveys of quail,
satisfying their hunger with the food of heaven.
He split the rock and water poured out;
it flowed like a river through the desert.
For He remembered His holy covenant
with Abraham, His servant.
That’s why He rescued His people joyously
and why His chosen ones celebrated with shouts and singing.
When the time was right, He gave them land from other nations
so that they might possess the works of their hands,
So that they would be able to keep His commands
and obey His laws.
Praise the Eternal!

gentiana
Born in the middle of spring just months after the appearance of a meteor that brought with it the first taint of the Starscourge, it was rumored Gentiana’s birth was a force of necessity, just as the Izunia’s so were. Bahamut had foreseen the calamity the Scourge would bring upon Eos, and needed to act. Among the peoples of the fledgling nation of Tenebrae–then a province of old Solheim before its collapse–was Sofia Fleurette chosen as Bahamut appeared to her in the guise of a handsome, winged man (the same seen on the cover of the Cosmogony) to whom he granted her his virtue one day in late summer. After a day and night of coupling, Bahamut disappeared the following day and Gentiana was conceived and borne the following spring. From youth, Bahamut appeared to her in visions.
Telling her of her calling and her charge. He taught her the tongue of the gods, and when she came of age, he gifted her the Trident of the Oracle–a weapon of the gods that would become her family’s heirloom. She learned holy magicks from him, and as the gods lived among humans in those days, she became a healer who healed her people of the nascent maladies caused by the Starscourge. When she was roughly 20 years of age, Sofia journeyed with her to Lucis where she met the young man who was known to her as Somnus Izunia.
Accompanied by him, she met Ardyn and their Shield, a Solheimian king known as Gilgamesh (who was coincidentally her half-brother through Bahamut). Together, they journeyed with Ardyn to help heal people, camaraderie formed between the four of them. However, their journeys come to an end when it’s discovered how deeply corrupted Ardyn became by the daemons he’d absorbed. With no other choice, Ardyn was temporarily imprisoned on Angelgard when it was discovered he’d become a living medium of the Starscourge, and a reservoir to countless daemons. Rebuffed by the Crystal Bahamut had promised the Izunia’s, during this time of quarantine did the group become whittled to Gilgamesh, Somnus, and Gentiana as they redoubled their journey across Eos to forge Covenants with the gods before Ardyn grew too powerful and escaped from his holy prison. With the Infernian corrupted to fight at Ardyn’s side, a destructive Great War ensued and the empire of Solheim finally fell into collapse–years of the Starscourge and the war itself slaughtering countless peoples.
The gods were able to seal Ardyn one last time, this time nigh permanently on Angelgard after being tremendously weakened from doing battle with Somnus even though this didn’t eradicate his soul for good (as Noctis would do eons later). In the twilight years of the war, Somnus and Gentiana had fallen in love. They exchanged vows in secret, but on the day Somnus received the Crystal and the Ring of the Lucii, he wed her in a grand ceremony Bahamut himself presided over. She became the first queen of Lucis, and in honor of her efforts, became known as the Oracle and took her place in the Old Wall and became one of the Lucii.
A few years later, she bore him Helene and Aya Lucis Caelum who would come to be proginators to the modern day.
Eventually, after years of strain, the toll of being Oracle took her life at about 35. For her good deeds for the Star, she was granted the office of High Messenger to serve Shiva as a vessel due to her worthiness in the eyes of the gods. Because of her origination, it was why she became Lunafreya’s guide and guardian eons later.

Backstory -- ;
Among the peoples of the fledgling nation of Tenebrae--then a province of old Solheim before its collapse--was Sofia Fleurette chosen as Bahamut appeared to her in the guise of a handsome, winged man (the same seen on the cover of the Cosmogony) to whom he granted her his virtue one day in late summer. After a day and night of coupling, Bahamut disappeared the following day and Gentiana was conceived and borne the following spring.
From youth, Bahamut appeared to her in visions. Telling her of her calling and her charge. He taught her the tongue of the gods, and when she came of age, he gifted her the Trident of the Oracle--a weapon of the gods that would become her family’s heirloom.
With the Infernian corrupted to fight at Ardyn’s side, a destructive Great War ensued and the empire of Solheim finally fell into collapse--years of the Starscourge and the war itself slaughtering countless peoples.
TRIVIA -- ;
The predominant reason modern Caelums bear affinities for Oracle-based abilities (Holy to the Ring, the enchantment of substances into curatives, receiving visions from the gods, being able to use the Trident as a Royal Arm) owes itself to Gentiana being their fore-bearer. It’s said their signature black hair came from her, despite it also being a trait of the Izunia’s.
Noctis’ splitting resemblance to Bahamut--especially where the eyes are concerned--is said to be because Bahamut is, too, an ancestor of the Caelums.
The middle name of each generation of Fleurets (Nox, Via, etc.) is said to be different depending on each generation of children (hence why Sylva is Via and both Ravus & Lunafreya are Nox Fleurets).
