I can't tell you how much I don't care about age gap discourse. I don't care that he's 700 years old and she's 17! if it's not something you could criticize in real life then I don't care! I. don't. care!
#if immortals dating teenagers makes you uncomfortable then like okay more power to you#i guess don't read/watch shit with those kinds of age gaps#but like to me it's kind of silly ro nitpick fabtastical age gaps#like there are vampires/faeries/insert immortal beings#i simply do not care to hold those kinds of stories to modern dating morality I'm not sorry#(and tbh I'm pretty forgiving of normal life age gaps if they're handled in interesting and nuanced ways#like if one character is 24 and the other is 16 but there is a moral struggle and resistance there then who cares#would i ever condone that irl? absolutely not! but fiction is fiction who fucking cares#if you personally don't want to interact with those stories then don't but imo they're not inherently problematic just by existing)#anyways that's my rant I'm tired of age gap discourse#make the age gaps larger!! a seven thousand year old wizard falling for a nineteen year old go!#(*actually i do have one caveat#I'm approaching this from an adult perspective and i understand sometimes younger readers are more impressionable#and for younger readers i actually think real life age gaps can't be explored well because younger readers often don't pick up on the nuance#and larger than life fantastical age gaps actually serve the purpose much better in YA)

Halloween Costumes (Hayden x FemReader) *Headcanon*
Summary: A certain moose decides to help you celebrate your favorite night of the year right. By fulfilling one of your corniest horniest dreams.
Warnings: 18+ (mdni), because there sooo much of the smut. Lightsaber play, cute coupleâs costume, bad puns, and, as always⊠Haydenâs big, fat dick.
Notes: Happy Kinktober all you, lovelies! đ€đ§Ą
*Cutesy Scary, SFW*
- Letâs start off with the fact that although Halloween might not be Hayâs absolute favorite holiday (to be fair, heâs more of Christmas man). But that wonât stop him from full-on embracing the spooky season, all for the sake of you. Because nothing makeâs dadcula more happy than seeing his little witch get all giddy, smileyâŠnot threatening to put the curse of the dry spell on him.
- The moment you suggest doing a certain âstar-crossed loversâ for your coupleâs costumeâŠthe man is all over it. Finding and ordering you the best âaggressive negotiations senatorâ dress he comes across, while pulling his own âfallen space wizardâ robes from storage. Heâll even go as far as letting that mullet grow out a bit, all because you said you want things to be more fangtastic.
- When the big day finally rolls around, youâre like a stupid teenager again. Sitting on the edge of your bed; legs swinging, giggling. Grinning at his reflection in the mirror; watching him meticulously put on each piece, ruffling his curls to fall just perfectly. Practically jumping his bones when he asks you so sweetlyâŠÂ âMind helping an old Skyguy draw on his scar?â
- At the party, the two of you are pretty much inseparable. Being that sickeningly cute pair, whoâs glued to one another.ïżœïżœ With you holding onto, pressed into his side. Nails scratching gently at his back, sending shivers down his spine. And Hayden with his arm lazily wrapped around your waist; big, gloved hand resting on your hip. Leather clad fingers giving your handle the occasional squeeze, sometimes slipping a bit lower when he thought no one was lookingâŠ.causing you to let out some small âeeksâ.
- Towards the end of the night, after one too many potions. Heâll press a kiss to your rosy cheek, ghost his lips over the shell of your earâŠhot breath fanning, goosebumps forming and spreading across your skin. âWhat do you say? Head back to our haunted house, see if I can make you wail like a banshee?â
*Spooky Scary, NSFW*
- You can definitely feel all of those bubbly potions you downed working their magic. Hell fire burning your cheeks, pooling between your thighs. Making you hastily shed all those heavy layers, tossing them carelessly into a haphazard pile at the foot of your bed.  Along with lowering your inhibitions, emboldening youâŠand him.
- Shoving you against the sheets; tugging at your waist, you obediently raise your hips. Hayden roughly yanks, rips those cute ghosty panties right off your booty. His groans, the soft clinks of his utility belt echo from behind. His long fingers slipping into your needy cunny, roughly and rapidly pumping three. Cool metal brushing your skin; running lazily, ominously up and down your leg. âBabeâŠbabe? What are y-you-â
- âSsssh, relaxâŠâ Pushing those dripping, soaked digits past your lips; forcing you to taste, gag slightly on your own sweet juices. While he prods, teases your clit with the cylindrical object. Sending jolts of pleasure through, body trembling and thrumming with anticipation. Trails of slick trickling out from your empty hole. âThis is where the fun beginsâŠâ
- A loud whine mixed with a moan bubbles out from your throat as the tip of his lightsaber hilt sinks in, invades your heat. Gummy walls burn, struggle to stretch. The ruff, smooth texture of it scrapesâŠscratches. Tears of pain and pleasure form, sting at the corners of your eyes. As you suck weakly on his fingertips, reveling in the array of overwhelming sensationsâŠbasking in the way he praises you. âLook at you, all spread out for me. Taking my saber so well. Such a good ghoul.â
- Plunging further, thrusting faster. Your breaths grow shallower, come out in ragged gasps. Hips rock back unconsciously, nipples drag across the mattress. Seeking out more friction. Building and hurtling yourself closer and closer towards what was easily going to be a truly frightful orgasm. âTrick or Treat. Gimme something good toâŠâ   And right before you tip completely over the edge, he pulls the new toy from your depths.
- Strangled cry escapes you when his mouth meets your drenched folds. Big hands holding you open for him; devouring, lapping at your sensitive bud. Until you burst all over Hayâs tongue, mewling when he groans into your core. Deep voice rumbling, sending aftershocks through your spent form. ââŠeat.â

Vintage Drarry Fics
Thought I'd put together a list of some of the old Drarry 'classics' of my teenage years, for anyone interested. All posted between 2001-2006, compiled using my (bad) memory, a lot of googling, fanlore.org and numerous different LJ rec accounts (including the incredible @capiturecs). I checked as best I could, but if anyone knows of any fics that their author doesn't want to be shared, please let me know and I will of course remove.
Please also note that these fics are of their era, when attitudes may have been different, and they may not all be grammatically perfect. I haven't reread all, as my own tastes have changed, but most importantly do note that they may not be tagged - don't blame me when, for example, Harry dies tragically on a rooftop at sunrise...
Hogwarts Era (mostly 5th-7th year)
A Thousand Beautiful Things by Duinn Fionn/geoviki (M, 105k)
Draco Malfoy struggles with changed fortunes, shifted alliances, an ugly war, and an unusual spell, with the help of a concerned professor, an insightful house-elf, and an unexpected Gryffindor friend.
All Bets Are Off by Allegra (R, 53k)
I am SICK of Good-little-innocent!Harry...Enter Playboy!Harry and his Overinflated Ego, a challenge, a bet, a couple of Really Cunning Plans - and there you have it, "Forty days and forty nights", Hogwarts style. Mayhem ensues!Â
Angels and Devils by beren (E, 52k)
Harry defeated Voldemort and his act of heroism is famous throughout the wizarding world. He's trying to finish his final year at Hogwarts in peace, but, thanks to the method he chose to destroy The Dark Lord, something peculiar is happening to him, something he never would have expected. It's all rather embarrassing and making his life very complicated.
Artful Facade by Sky Sorceress (T, 66k)
Sometimes you fly too close to the sun and lose your wings. With sixth year approaching, the danger Harry seeks can be found only in the form of Draco Malfoy. What follows is a twist in the line between hatred, love, and need.
Beautiful World by Cinnamon/Lissadiane (M, 70k)
Harry finds out he's going to die on his 16th birthday. He embarks on a journey of self-destructive behaviour and drags Draco along for the ride.Â
Beneath You by Cinnamon/Lissadiane (M, 113k)
Draco had no idea that the repercussions of stealing Potter's journal and shoving it down the back of his trousers would be so extreme.
Bond by AnnaFugazzi (M, 173k)
It seems 95% of H/D writers feel compelled to write a "Harry And Draco Are Forced To Be Together By Something Beyond Their Control And Then Unlikely Stuff Happens That Leads To Twoo Wuv" story. Count me among the 95% ;)
Checkmate by Naadi Moonfeather (T, 245k)
Draco has the perfect plan to get Harry Potter and challenges him to a game of Dare Chess. But is it love, or betrayal, he has in mind?
The Cicatrix Cycle by Ivy Blossom (NC-17, long!)
Three parts: Origins, Haven, Belong
Draco In Darkness by Plumeria (T, 41k)
Following an accident in his seventh year, Draco loses his eyesight. After Harry elbows his way into Draco's dark world, both boys find themselves in a strange new friendship, and they each learn new ways to see each other ⊠and themselves.
Eclipse by PhoenixSong/Mijan (T, 287k)
"You're dead, Potter... I'm going to make you pay..." Draco swore his revenge on Harry for Lucius's imprisonment, and Harry all but laughed at him. But Draco is planning more than schoolyard pranks this time. The old rivalry turns deadly when Draco abducts Harry for Voldemort. It's the perfect plan, guaranteeing revenge, power, and prestige, all in one blow. But, when Draco's world turns upside down, the fight to save himself and Harry begins, and the battle will take them both through hell and back. If they come back.Â
Friend Like Me by Lady Vader (M, 11k)
Draco's rendition of the love story that never was.
How Harry Potter Got His Groove Back by Durendal/Eleveninches (R, 12k)
Snape tries to hang himself, Draco enters an alternate reality, and Harry Gets a Clue. Humor, SLASH, naughty language, and other Evil Things. Harry/Draco, Snape/James/Lucius.
Irresistible Poison by Rhysenn (PG-13, 124k)
Under the influence of a love potion, Draco learns that poison doesn't always bring death -- there are other ways to suffer and live. Chemical emotion runs feverish as Harry and Draco discover the intoxication of love.
Lettered by pir8fancier (M, 7.8k)
Harry has a secret penpal, whose identity is as plain as the nose on his face. Except he's not wearing his glasses.
Love Under Will by Aja (R, 116k)
In their 5th year, Harry and Draco choose to be with one another; but the story--and the battle-- is just beginning...
playing the game, living the lie by Abaddon (R, 159k)
Set in Sixth Year, both the wizarding and Muggle worlds are threatened as Voldemort plans a final revenge. Past, present and future collide as all must consider where their loyalties lie; who they are, and who they want to be. Amidst it all, Harry and Draco begin a dangerous journey of understanding. Is it possible to leave everything you thought you were behind?
Resolution by Frances Potter (R, 322k)
When you've spent six years fighting evil, all you really want is a quiet time. But when your name is Harry Potter the chances of that are very slim. A series of vignettes chronicling Harry's final six months at Hogwarts. Exams, friends, lovers, Quidditch, the war and Draco all conspire to make the year end seem a very long way away.
Seamus is Seamus and You are Yourself by Ari Munami (PG-13, 31k)
Harry goes through some er... changes in his Sixth Year and everyone, including Draco Malfoy, sits up and takes notice.
Snakes and Lions by GatewayGirl (M, 139k)
When Ron and Hermione get together, they notice only each other. A nightmare prompts Harry to return alone to the empty Chamber of Secrets, and leads to a new look at an old enemy. Harry enjoys the company, but with Bellatrix Lestrange actively hunting him, how far can he trust a Death Eater's son?
Something Impossible by epicylical/Cassandra Claire (PG, 6.4k)
As punishment for an act of vandalism, Draco is forced to perform three tasks to win Harry's forgiveness - only they don't turn out to be exactly the kind of tasks he'd been expecting. With wet shirtless Draco, paint-covered Harry, and Proust-reading Goyle.
Transformation by amalin (E, 98k)

Walking the Line by SilentAuror (E, 179k)
Sixth year is over and Draco Malfoy is on the run. The war is on and an unwanted assignment is forced upon him by the only people he trusts - and a one-time arch-enemy just may be out to kill him.
Post-Hogwarts
Adagio in G Minor by furiosity (NC-17, 18k)
Seven years after Hogwarts and the war, life continues in the wizarding world. Draco Malfoy is rich, bored, and slightly jaded. Harry Potter is famous, busy, and somewhat disillusioned. a humiliatingly long character analysis of lily evans
Someone sent me an ask that briefly mentioned how misunderstood Lily is, and before I knew it I was typing out this monster. I am. sorry. This is literally just me rambling about her, what I find compelling about her character, and why her character is so often misunderstood.
This is long as hell so I'm putting it under a read more lolol
Part of the reason I like Lily so much (other than my being ginger and projecting onto any redheaded female character I see) is that even though she isnât explored as much as her other Marauders Era counterparts, we know enough about her to start building the framework for her character. And what I see is a girl who was incredibly interesting, kind, and flawed.
One thing I always think about in regards to Lily is that she was dealt with a pretty unfair hand. As soon as she receives her letter, sheâs basically torn between two worlds, both of which have been less than welcome to her. On one hand, we have the muggle world that sheâs known all her life, but once she starts integrating into the wizarding world, she likely feels a bit of a disconnect with that world. To twist the knife further, her sister- whom she loved dearly and grew up so close with- starts outwardly resenting her with such unbridled hostility that they likely couldnât even be in a room alone together without major conflict.Â
On the other hand, we have the wizarding worldâ a world sheâs not as familiar with and one she soon learns holds a demographic of people who hate everything she is and would rather see her excommunicated or even dead. And even though finding out youâre a witch/wizard is probably such an exciting and life-changing moment, I canât help but also take note of the difficulties, especially if youâre the only one in your family with magic. Youâre essentially uprooted from the only way of life youâve known at an already complicated age, and now you have to quickly become acclimated to this new world that you only just found out existed. Not only that, but now youâre suddenly attending a school with classes that are primarily focused on this world of magic (which is still brand new to you), and you have to work extra hard to play catch up in order to do well. Like, that all seems like⊠a lot for a kid to handle.
And then I remember how young she was when she was thrown into that mess. She was only 11, and kids that age desperately crave any sense of belonging. I mean, thatâs something that still holds true for adults, but itâs especially critical for a developing child. So imagine Lily, ages 11-15, struggling to stay afloat in this weird purgatory between these two parts of herself, both of which have been the cause for major and traumatic experiences relating to rejection in her life.
(I say it was the âcauseâ even though itâs obvious that those things were never her fault at all, but when youâre a young kid navigating the world, the only thing youâre able to process is that the common denominator is you, therefore youâre the one who must shoulder the blame.)
So now we have this tween-teenaged girl who has a dysfunctional relationship with two major parts of identity and probably feels absolutely lost.Â
This is why her hesitancy to end her friendship with Snape makes sense to me. Even though by fifth year heâs already well past toeing the line with the dark arts, Lily was willing to overlook some pretty egregious and troubling things in order to maintain the relationship. I kind of interpret that as her way of desperately clinging on to any sense of belonging she has left; her relationship with Petunia has already been poisoned, and now there are people who resent her existence as a witch; if she loses Severus too, what and who else does she have? And what tone does that set for her, if everyone and everything sheâs come to hold close to her ends up turning her away?
Itâs also important to note that not only is Severus one of her few remaining connections to the muggle world, but heâs also a wizard who grew up in the muggle world; he understands her, and I donât doubt that he gave her some stability at times when she needed it (her finding out about her being a witch, her having trouble acclimating to the wizarding world, etc).
I see this as being one of her flaws and I can actually appreciate how relatable and realistic it feels. Lily is not a bad person; on the contrary, youâd be hard pressed to find anyone to describe her as such. Not to get all clinical and boring, but the interesting thing about (unhealthy) coping mechanisms is that it can actually be really hard to identify them in your own behavior. Unless youâre in therapy and/or are actively psychoanalyzing yourself, you likely donât even realize how many of your common behaviors are born from self defense mechanisms put in place by your brain after past events.
To me, it makes sense why she avoided actually confronting the idea that Snape was too far gone. We know that she was aware of the path Severus was taking, but it almost seems like she was still convinced that she could save him, and could possibly steer him back in the right direction. Itâs only when she becomes the target of his bigotry that she realizes that the Snape who called her a âmudbloodâ was not the same Severus who was the one who held her hand and introduced her to this new, exciting world.
In a general sense, yes, it is selfish, to only take a stand when something starts affecting you personally. But I also think itâs important to note that itâs unlikely that this was a conscious decision on Lilyâs part. In my eyes, it was easier to delude herself into thinking she still had a chance to save him before it was too late when she was able to separate him from his actions (considering, a lot of the time, she was only hearing about them after the fact, rather than seeing them firsthand). But the elusion is shattered once she sees that the Snape she grew up withâ her friend, Severusâ is, in fact, the same person whoâs out there calling other students slurs, dismissing the malicious use of Dark Magic on others as just âa laughâ. There we see a Lily who is actually revealed to have been somewhat aware of Snapeâs involvement with the darker side of magic, and genuinely feels pretty ashamed about her inaction.
Also, this is in no way me being a Snape-anti, and I actually could do an entire separate analysis on his character alone and why I find him so interesting.
Anyways, that moment in SWM is probably somewhat of an epiphany to her. Itâs like a dam thatâs been broken, and now sheâs overwhelmed with the realization of exactly how much she overlooked in order to keep their friendship afloat. And for someone like Lily Evans, someone whom we know is opinionated and unafraid to call others out on their bullshit, that can be hard to swallow and feel pretty mortifying and shameful. And I think this was a huge turning point for her- at that point, she doesnât have the luxury of avoiding uncomfortable truths anymore and now that sheâs getting closer to graduating and being thrown out into the world on the brink of war, this was probably a really sobering discovery.
This is where we donât have as much info to go off of, and a lot of it is up to interpretation. But we actually have little crumbs to go off of following her graduation and leading up to her death.
One of my favorite little tidbits isnât in the books, and @seriousbrat's post reminded me about it. Here's the actual entry on Pottermore for anyone who's interested, but I'll summarize: after James and Lily began dating, Lily brings James to meet newly engaged Petunia and Vernon. Everything goes downhill, because Vernon is a smarmy asshole, and James is still pretty immature and canât help but mess with him (which⊠fair, I guess). Petunia and Vernon storm out after Petunia letting Lily know that she had no intentions of having her as a bridesmaid, which causes Lily to break down into tears. I mention this because I also think itâs a pretty important aspect of her character; like weâve seen in her past friendship with Snape, Lily seems more than willing to forgive others most of the time. Petunia is a bit of a complicated character herself, but she was objectively very cruel and unfair to Lily once it became obvious that she was a witch and Petunia was not.
Something that always stands out to me is just how desperate Lily is to earn Petuniaâs trust and approval again. Even up until her death, she was more than willing to mend the relationship, were Petunia ever to consider.Â
This is a detail about Lily that I feel is misunderstood quite a bit. Iâve seen a lot of instances of her character being reduced to a one-dimensional archetype with little to no complexity. And often, that archetype is âknow-it-all, prudish, self righteous bookworm who is also a goody two-shoes with a stick up her assâ. What annoys me is that the reason for this is most definitely the scene in which she blows up at James in SWM for bullying Snape, and hurls quite a few insults at him directly after an extremely devastating and overwhelming situation for her. This frustrates me because we know for a fact that sheâs the polar opposite of this archetype Iâve seen her reduced to.Â
In actuality, sheâs referred to as popular, charming, witty, bright and kind. From flashbacks we also are shown that sheâs opinionated, bold, and not afraid to challenge others. With other context, like her interpersonal relationships, we can also see that sheâs pretty emotionally driven and wears her heart on her sleeve.Â
(I know Remus didnât mention Lily much in the books, but I really love how he described her in the movies. He tells Harry that the first thing he noticed about him was not his striking resemblance to his father, but his eyes, the same eyes Lily had. He also calls her a âsingularly gifted witchâ and an âuncommonly kind womanâ.
âShe had a way of seeing the beauty in others, even and perhaps most especially, when that person could not see it in themselves.â
I know there are mixed feelings on whether or not the films count as canon source material, so take it with a grain of salt, but I personally cannot see a world in which Lily and Remus didnât become close friends.)
Here we have a direct description of what she was like and who she was, corroborated by recounting of memories of her, and yet for some reason, this feels like the thing that is most commonly lost in translation.
I donât think I can say why I think that is without mentioning the dreaded M word (misogyny- itâs misogyny), but I also donât want to get too off topic so Iâll be brief: female characters are typically not given the same grace as male characters. When we have an undeveloped male character, heâs awarded the assumption that despite his lack of depth, there still exists a complex and multifaceted characterâ itâs merely just potential that hasnât been tapped into. Whereas when we have underdeveloped female characters, they are taken at face value, meaning that not much exists beyond the little information we have of them. They are not presumed to have a life or a story that exists beyond the surface of what we know like male characters are. Thatâs why I think characters like Regulus, Evan, or Barty (just to name a few) are more popular than Lily, despite being less developed than she is.
(Before anyone gets defensive, no, I donât think itâs an individual problem that you alone need to be shamed for. I think itâs the result of a deeper issue regarding misogyny in media as a concept; these are things that weâve all unknowingly internalized and while itâs not our fault, we still have to do the work to deconstruct those learned prejudices.)
What I find really cool about her character is that despite how much sheâs been hurt, sheâs also still known as one of the most loving, kind, and considerate characters. There were so many times in her life where the love she received was conditional and ripped away from herâ and I think thatâs what makes her sacrifice even more poignant. She was able to protect her infant son from an extremely powerful dark wizard, wand-less, knowing that her husband was just murdered in cold blood, just from how much love she felt for Harry. Her love was a force of nature on its own, and I just think thatâs such an amazing thing about her.Â
I know Iâm biased, given that sheâs one of my favorite characters, but even upon delving into this, I still just find it so incredibly hard to understand how anyone can actively hate her (not indifference, but actual dislike). In my opinion (again, no one is unbiased, and she is a favorite character of mine, but trust me when I say that Iâm trying to be objective as possible when I say this), sheâs probably one of the most likable characters of the Marauders Era. I think perhaps a lot of people havenât given her a chance or really taken the time to learn about her character, but it could be a myriad of other reasons that Iâll never understand.Â
There's so much more I could say but this is long enough and I will stop myself
Lily Evans, u will always be famous to me
#lily evans#character analysis#harry potter#i am a little embarrassed that i got so invested in this. i hope at least one person enjoys this insane essay that no one asked for

The Teenage Foolishness
Pairing: Sirius Black x male!reader angst at certain point, kinda smut at another. If you haven't read the previous post/chapter whatever, Y/N is muggle-born
Hope you like it! TW: use of Y/N, internalised homophobia, pining, erotic thoughts, erotic things in general, AMAB! reader, swearing, mentions of war, mentions of toxic family
After the first year, the following two were not particularly remarkable. That is not to say that the days were mundane, or that nothing interesting ever happened; rather, you were immersed in a routine devoid of anything exceptional to distinguish it.
You and the rest of the Maraudersâa nickname coined by Lily of all people - "Unbelievable! You cost us 50 points, and for what?! Marauding around the castle like vagabonds⊠I cannot comprehend what is so special or enjoyable about being as much of a nuisance as Peeves!" - continued to pursue your intention of making the most of your years at the school, pranking those who deserved it (mainly the Slytherins) and not taking life too seriously
At times, you felt that James and Sirius, in particular, went a little overboard in targeting a specific individual, but simultaneously, he gave as good as he got, so you did not see much issue with the clear rivalry between your group and Severus Snape.
You continued to learn, to excel, and to immerse yourself in magical education, relentless in your persuit of knowing everything.
In your third year, you began tutoring some first-years in Transfiguration and Charms. You also encountered your first struggle - Arithmancy.
You chose it alongside Ancient Runes and Care of Magical Creatures as your electives, thinking it wouldnât be too challenging.
You did enjoy the Creatures class the most and found Ancient Runes, which included lessons on enchanting objects, warding, and curse-breaking, truly fascinating. You were always eager for those classes.
But Arithmancy⊠You thought it would simply be wizarding maths, but it was far from that. You barely scraped by in it and fully intended to drop it before fifth year. Spell-crafting be damned; if you had to read one more paragraph on the properties of numbers and shapes, you felt like you might spontaneously combust. And preparing for an OWL in it⊠that would be unbearable.
Another struggle that began in third year was dealing with feelings. Suddenly, you started experiencing peculiar emotions. Of course, there had been boys who caught your eye before, but it had never been significant. However, the affections you might have had, or not, seemed to grow in intensity.
Suddenly, instead of a mere sense of admiration, a deep longing emerged. You would catch yourself imagining how delightful it would be to walk hand in hand with them, to embrace them, to kiss them, toâŠ
Even with the knowledge that your proclivities were not frowned upon in the wizarding world, the years you spent before joining it had conditioned you to feel guilt and denial. It felt as though you were being pushed by shame from one side and encouragement from the other, leaving no space for action.
So you suppressed those feelings, turning to those shameful late-night moments in which you inflicted some self-pleasure upon yourself.
You felt guilty thinking about schoolmates that way. The only comfort was that it usually wasnât someone you were particularly close with, so objectifying them wasnât thrown in your face the next morning.
Then the fifth year arrived, and with it, a very changed, taller, better-built Sirius.
He said he had spent most of his summer at his uncle Alphard's house, which had a Quidditch pitch nearby, allowing him to fly and work out every day. Training for his Beater position on the Quidditch team involved a lot of work from his arm and chest muscles.
And what a sight those muscles were, when he took his outer robe off, leaving only a thin dress shirt on. They were enthralling to watch, and it took you greater effort than fighting any duel, facing any Slytherin, or preparing for any exam to avert your gaze elsewhere.
It didn't help that he paid particular attention to you. There was something in his gaze that made you want to squirm.
It's worth mentioning you changed over the summer too. You barely had to lift your head now to look your dad straight in the eyes (which came with your mum droning on about needing to buy an entirely new wardrobe for you since all your clothes were too short). Your face became thinner, and your jawline more pronounced. You would often run, not from schoolmates, but for the simple release of pent-up energy from being deprived of magic (you would curse whoever it was that created the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery, if they were still alive) and worrying about a possible raid from Death Eaters all summer.
You did try to act casual. But you were also 16. And suddenly, when the night came, the only thoughts you had, were of him.
His nature didn't help either. He was always affectionate with touch - an arm around your shoulder when walking together, his head always resting on someone's lap while relaxing on the couches in the Gryffindor common room. He did that with all of his friends.
So it meant he did it with you as well. In those moments, you begged to be back in the Arithmancy classroom, listening to lectures about numerological transcendence or whatever else you couldn't grasp, because it would still be easier than withstanding the force of Sirius Black's friendly affection. Friendly.
You always made sure to keep the outer robes on, so you could cover your crotch and the erection that occured whenever he tugged you closer to him or rested his head on your arm.
After one very close call, when he laid his head on your lap, you realised it had become essential never to sit next to him again. Not as long as you felt the way you did. It didn't help that the thoughts of his mouth so close to that particular area contributed to your unseemly activities later that evening and were followed by a sense of shame when you saw him the next morning while preparing to go down for breakfast.
And even if you told yourself that you were dealing with this insufferable infatuation, you couldn't help but feel jealous of the people who sparked Sirius' interest. You weren't the only person who had noticed how he had changed over the summer, after all.
It seemed every other week there would be a new girl clutching onto him like a lifeline. And considering the affection he showed his friends, you shouldn't have been surprised by how flagrant he was with them.
The shameless make-out sessions, blatant touching, and disgusting displays like feeding each other were hard to ignore. But over time, you got used to it. You didn't accept it, but it was just something that happened, yet another flaw in the world. It still was better than the fact that there was an actual war happening outside the school halls, a war against people like you, or rather, about ridding the world of people like you.
But then, one day, Sirius showed up for lunch with a boy. A Ravenclaw, one year above you. All of you were confused. And confusion turned into many different emotions when the ministrations that Sirius' girlfriends received were extended to him.
If you felt uneasy before, now you were actually physically sick. You wanted to vomit, to break something, or rather someone.
Ironically, one of the few comforts you had in the entire situation was knowing that if you never stood a chance with him, it wasn't because of your appearance or any other personal attribute, but simply because he was exclusively into girls. This made it easier to avoid letting yourself fantasise about being with him. At that point, however, the reality stung more sharplyâknowing that he chooses not to have an interest in you, despite being open to it. It just made it all more painful.
So you quickly excused yourself and exited the Hall. You didn't run and cry, thinking about jumping off the astronomy tower like some heartsick, stupid people would do. You weren't sad. You were angry. Furious. Livid. Violent.
You hadn't noticed Remus going after you, all the way to the Forbidden Forest. You hadn't noticed him as you were throwing all known curses and hexes at a large pile of rocks, annihilating it in the process.
But after you were done, and decided to go back, there he stood. With this look of pity. Maybe you weren't as subtle as you thought, or maybe it was him being his usual, too perceptive self.
"I would say that it gets better, but I'm not going to start lying to you," he said.
"Are you- Do you- You too? With Sirius, I mean," you replied.
"Merlin no!" and after a short pause, "Well, maybe a little last year. But it went out the window after he insulted Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, massive turn-off," he said, the last part with a scoff, "And I'm more partial to the fair sex, being honest with you."
"How long have you known?" you asked.
"You know how my senses are heightened? Due to- you know. Well, some stronger emotions have the slightest scents that I can detect. They don't really compare to any normal ones⊠well, the technicalities don't really matter. Arousal is one of those scents, and I smelled it off of you while you were looking at him in the distance once or twice."
"Well, thank you for not calling me out on it," you said with the slightest of smiles. At that point, you also had to ask, because you knew it would nag you forever, "So if you can actually smell emotions, that means that things likeâŠ" You didn't exactly know how to ask whether he could smell you wank in the night, so you just made a gesture. He didn't seem unsettled by your question, to his credit.
"Oh, yeah, at first it was quite uncomfortable, but you weren't the first one to do it... Sirius was always hyper and he is the oldest, I suppose," he said, then continued, "I learned a spell to shield my bed from all smells in Second Year, but I forget to cast it sometimes," he said while rubbing the nape of his neck.
"Well, I've never felt more sorry for you, especially with Peter's dirty socks..." you said.
âYes, well, it comes with living with four other teenage boys. But Iâm the one whoâs supposed to comfort you right now, not the other way around,â he said with a small laugh.
âYou did say it wouldnât just get better, as if from experience⊠Who were you that angry about? You, the calmest, most reasonable and even-tempered Gryffindor in history.â
âThere was one particular girl that Sirius had dated about a month ago, and now even if I did try to ask her out, Iâd be asking Siriusâ ex out. It did irk me, knowing he would drop her after a week or so anyway.â
âA shame you hadnât told me; then we could wallow in self-pity together,â you chuckled a little. Maybe Freud was onto something with his âjust talk about it and it will get better.â Although, you were also quite tired, so maybe there was simply no energy for anger at the moment.
âDo you want to smash some things too? I could conjure more rocks if youâd like,â you asked.
He smiled. âNo, but I will tell you if I do. Letâs head back; I think weâre already late for Potions.â
You groaned. âFuck Potions, weâre both rubbish at it anyway. Besides, I donât know if I have it in me not to throw some beetle eyes or something equally disgusting at him right now.â You said this as you started walking back towards the castle.
âI am a prefect, you know,â Remus replied.
âOh? So I suppose it wasnât you who turned Mulciberâs hair into snakes yesterday?â you responded with a small chuckle.
He just huffed but didnât rebut.
______________________________________________________________
What you and Remus failed to talk about and consider were appearances. There was nothing out of the ordinary with Remusâ, but you, however, looked as if youâd just emerged from a fighting ring - messy hair, ruffled clothes, and scratches from the rock shards that you hadnât even registered.
After worried questions stemming from a calm, âWhat happened?â from Peter, to Jamesâ intense, âDid someone do this to you?! Tell. Me. Who!â you just said youâd fallen down the stairs, and Remus had taken you to the infirmary, which explained your absence during Potions class. And since it was just a theory lesson, you doubted Slughorn noticed or cared much.
The rest of the day, after fixing yourself up in the bathroom, you tried to act as usual. And it mostly worked. But, as seemed to be the pattern of the day, Sirius disrupted your attempts at casualness. It wasnât his fault per se, since you always sat together in Defence Against the Dark Arts. Normally, you would chat and joke, having already mastered the subject. But today, you didnât even want to see him, let alone talk to him.
Sirius wasnât stupid, nor as self-conceited as some believed. He noticed the lack of banter and witty responses from you and asked, âAre you okay? You seem a little off today.â
Clearly he didnât connect the dots that your being "a little off" might be related to your supposed fall down the stairs. His mind was probably preoccupied with that Ravenclaw arsewipe he had shown up with, making it clear he was bi.
So you simply responded, âIâm fine,â and started taking notes. This really set Sirius off, because you never did that in Defence class. By Fourth Year, you had enough knowledge and skill to score an Outstanding in NEWT for the subject. You had even ventured into Knockturn Alley to buy books on martial magic, most containing curses only found in the restricted section of the school library. He knew why you were so determined to master this area of magic. With raids, disappearances, and murders reported every other day, who wouldnât be?
Sirius thought that maybe something else had happened other than the fall, but what could it be? No one dared to challenge you to a duel or sneak up on you after you sent the youngest Yaxley brother to the infirmary with so many afflictions and injuries he didnât get out until a week later (you only got three nights of detention since it was technically self-defence after he tried to use the body-bind curse on you from behind first. The Gryffindor privilege probably played a part in that as well). You didnât seem to be under a side-effect of pain medicine either.
He only realized the lesson was over because of your abrupt departure the moment the bell rang.
But there was someone with you when whatever happened had occurred - Remus. He had the answers, and Sirius was adamant about finding out the truth. But when he turned towards the desk Remus sat at, it was empty as well.
Suspicious.
Both of you disappearing halfway through the day and then coming back disheveled with a very convenient story... Could you...? Together?
Now, with his mind racing, Sirius reached the only plausible conclusion: it became clear he was into guys too, and one of you must have gotten jealous, so you sorted it out. The idea that Remus could have been the one to be with you like that, while Sirius was left out, sparked something he never wanted to feel about any of his friends - jealousy.
He loved Moony, don't get him wrong. But it was you and him that always had a little stack of letters after the holidays for each other, since neither could send them during the summer. "Merlin! I didn't know we had some summer essays set to write. What will we do, Pete?" James would always laugh. It was you and him that hated going away from Hogwarts because the castle was where you truly felt at home. It was you and him that sat together by the Black Lake in you spot, sharing those quiet moments that seemed to stretch into forever.
Why wouldn't you consider him for something more, then? He wasn't a saint, he knew that. But he also had access to mirrors, and he was a friend as long as Moony was.
And he had to admit, when he saw you on the train in September, desire surged through him. But you never seemed to look at him too long, let alone show any sign of actual interest. So he tried what he had seen work on those desperate girls and used all the tricks he had. But those attempts only seemed to turn you off, making you retreat from him. He recalled that evening when he laid his head on your lap, asking you to braid or play with his hair, and instead of blushing and giggling like those girls did, you immediately needed to get back to the dorm, claiming there was "a book you forgot to return to the library, and you better run before Madam Pince closes it" or some other excuse. After that, you avoided sitting next to him, except for during class.
When he saw you could defend yourself from the baby death eaters - commonly known as Slytherins - he stopped pretending not to associate with you. He was openly best friends with a "blood traitor," which, in his parents' eyes, was as bad as being a "filthy little Mudblood." So, he would get punished anyway.
He cherished the surprise on your face when he sat next to you at the Sorting Ceremony, the delight in your eyes when you realised he wasnât playing the charade he had in First Year.
He was always honest with you. He never felt it important to discuss his sexuality, especially since you never mentioned yours. He assumed you shared his sentiment. But now it was clear that you had discussed it with someone - just not him. Maybe you and Remus had a special spot as well? Or maybe, the spot by the lake was only special to Sirius, and you came there only when dear Remus was too busy, or worse, out of pity, because Sirius would sit there sometimes, hoping you would appear.
He hated that feeling. You were his friends. He shouldn't be mad at you two being close, being together. But he was. He was angry with you, and he was even more furious with himself.
Maybe if he just mellowed down his advances, you would start to show similiar affection towards him as well? Or maybe you did feel it, but was just awkward about it and he hadn't noticed?
And then there were the flings.
So on one hand, you might be plainly uninterested, wanting nothing more than friendship. On the other, you might have been interested, but he had ruined it.
He had ruined it all, just as he always seemed to. His mother had often said so. His father, his br- Regulus, never disagreed.
He didn't ever realise he was now alone, with tears glistening in his eyes, heading towards nowhere in particular
______________________________________________________________
The rest of the week was tense for the Marauders. Sirius retreated as he had after his first Howler back in First Year. Fortunately, this time he already had James. Pete stuck by him too, offering snacks in the evenings and welcome distractions. Both of them knew Peter didnât need help with Herbology, yet he asked Sirius for it, for example.
Not that you and Remus were there to witness most of these moments. You were cooped up in the library, sometimes together with Lily, Marlene, and Mary.
You didnât know if it was just instinct or if you were that easy to read, but the three girls took to comforting you as well. Your study sessions continued with the addition of Lilyâs dormmates, which made things much more fun, but also much riskier, since Madam Pince didnât take kindly to any disturbances of silence, and snickering was very much a disturbance.
One evening, Marlene said that when she was sad she did her first piercing by herself. She mentioned it off-handedly, while being scolded by Lily and Mary for getting her nose infected - that attempt was not as successful as the first one âor numerous following ones!â Marlene didnât fail to add.
So, when you were returning to the common room, you asked her which piercing wasnât too painful and if she would be willing to do it for you. She eagerly agreed, recommending helix piercings since earlobes were âtoo obvious.â
And as much as it wasnât the most pleasant experience, it wasnât too bad either. You settled for piercings in each ear. Marlene said it was fate, since the Hogsmeade trip would be happening in two days. You would be able to buy your own jewellery, wearing hers for now.
You were barely the first person to have some alterations to their appearance done, so it didnât gain much attention from most, only your friends, who you didnât have many of, especially since three of your dormmates seemed engrossed with something they were sharing with neither you nor Remus. Even Mary said you looked "dashing", and with her being one of the icons (Marlene had called her a guru) of style by that point, you knew it really meant something.
You saw the dark circles under Siriusâ eyes, as well as how puffy they were. You wanted to comfort him, truly you did. He was your friend, first and foremost. But now, it seemed he was avoiding you. You thought of cornering him somehow but thought better of it. One canât make Sirius Black do or say anything he doesnât want to do. And he did not take kindly to attempts at trying.
So, you left him be and didnât address any of the occasional looks you got from him with anything else but, what you hoped was, a comforting smile.
The trip to Hogsmeade was as eventful as any other, but with you not only buying earrings but some rings as well. You made sure none were made of silver, mindful of Moony.
The Sunday, however, proved to be something entirely else. You were planning on writing the Potions essay and reading the latest issue of Transfiguration Today. You hoped there would be at least something more than a mere mention of the Animagus process, having found only some sparse remarks on it in the books youâd read in the library so far.
There was always the Restricted Section, but you needed the Cloak for that, and James was always with Sirius.
And as much of a pain as it was to write about the Draught of Peace, it was one of the possible potions to brew for your OWL exam, and you needed one in Potions, no matter how much you loathed the idea of studying the subject at NEWT level. But you needed the NEWT to be allowed into the Auror Training, and complaining would get you nowhere.
But when you were finally done and reached for the magazine on your nightstand, the dorm room burst open, and in came James, Peter, and Sirius. And they came with purpose.
âRight, weâre going to settle this. You,â James pointed at you and Sirius, âwill stay in this room until youâre okay again. I will let you starve to death if I have to.â And with that, he came out, locking the door.
You looked at Sirius and didnât know what else to say but, âAlways with dramatics, that one.â
Sirius didnât respond at first, just looked at you for some time. You avoided his stare, which clearly was the wrong thing to do, seeing what he asked you next.
âWhy canât you even look at me?â he said in a tone much more broken than Sirius should sound like. You had only witnessed a few times over the five years youâd known each other. So you did look at him, straight in the eyes, and responded.
âOf course I can look at you.â You really didnât know how to handle this. You didnât even know what exactly it was about.
âSince we returned in September, you donât want to, though,â after a short pause, he asked, âWeâre friends, right? Friends tell each other things.â
âOf course weâre friends. Why would you question that?â you said immediately.
He looked at you, intensely, expectantly. But you really didnât know what he could want you to say. There was no way he knew about your crush, right?
Seeing that he wasnât going to receive what he had hoped for, he said with a clipped tone, âThen why didnât you tell me about you and Remus? Or James and Pete, for that matter?â
Now you were really bewildered. You wanted to ask what he meant, but he clearly wasnât finished.
âI bet you told Marls and the other two, though, always hanging around with each other now. I mean, I could understand if youâd just started and were figuring things out, but once youâre having sex, I think itâs serious enough to mention it to people you claim are your family!â he finished, shouting.
âWhat do you- Are- Sex!? With who!?â
âWell, Moony of course, unless you were doing it with Marlene in the third-floor bathroom on Thursday too!â
"For fuck's sake, have you taken something!? Or is this some very elaborate prank!?" You didnât allow him to respond just yet. "Iâm not having sex with anyone, Iâm not in a relationship with anyone, Marlene only pierced my ears," you said, pointing at your ears. "And I really donât think that Remus fetching me from the Forbidden Forest is that significant to mention!"
Sirius seemed surprised. You rarely screamed or shouted, preferring to just hex someone if they were going too far. Of all the questions now flooding his mind, he asked,
"What were you doing in the Forbidden Forest?"
"I was smashing up some rocks, if itâs that important to you. And I left the centaurs one of the phoenix feathers I found last year in the Astronomy Tower, along with a very sincere apology letter the next day, so I doubt theyâll want to hunt me down. It was only a pile of rocks anyway; I made sure not to harm any trees or animals."
"Why?"
"You know centaurs are the ones that planted and protect the forest. They demand respect. I doubt me coming in all unreasonable and entitled to destroy parts of it, even as irrelevant as a pile of-" At that, he interrupted you.
"I donât care about the centaurs! Why were you wrecking rocks, and if thatâs what happened on Monday, why are you cross with me?"
"Iâ Iâm not cross with you, and it doesnât matter why. Itâs stupid, and Iâm dealing with it."
"Maybe I could help, you know. Or at least you could have told me."
You were getting sick of his apparent entitlement to all your issues and that, mixed with still not fully gone anger at him over the Ravenclaw, prompted you to say with a clipped tone, "Well, you seem pretty preoccupied these days. I wouldnât want to get groped by accident."
His eyes widened, cheeks reddened, and his mouth opened and closed in a repeated cycle. He was visibly thinking about what to say next.
"Is that why youâve been avoiding me? Seeing me with those girls?"
You barely even registered saying, "You forgot the Ravenclaw already?"
At that you saw a hint of a smirk on his face, but what was more noticeable was the step he took towards you. "Did it bother you? Seeing me like that?"
Oh, you definitely didnât like the direction this conversation was going. So you quickly tried to escape the looming vision of actually confessing your feelings to him.
"Who wouldnât be bothered? People do go to that Hall to eat their food. You and whoever else was your conquest of the week were trying to eat each other."
He only inched closer. "No one else was demolishing the forest because of that, though, were they?"
You faltered. You were losing this argument, and youâd have to go past Sirius to reach your wand, which you had inconveniently left on the bed.
"You know, a lot of things just started to make sense to me..." He was almost within touching distance.
"Well, enlighten me then," you said, hoping your tone was more confident than you felt.
"The way you distanced yourself, wouldnât look at me too long... I thought I might have done something bad or wrong, but now Iâm realising," and after a pause, in a much huskier tone, "I actually might have done the opposite."
He did touch you now, caressing your arm. "Iâm going to ask you something, Y/N, and I need you to be honest." The hand went from your arm to your chin, directing your head to look him in the face. You hadnât realised you had been looking just past his shoulder for most of that monologue.
The only thing you did realise, was that Sirius was tall.
"If I kissed you right now, would you return it?"
You were overwhelmed. And, more importantly, starting to get hard. No.
But apparently, your subconscious decided to answer for you, and you nodded.
Sirius didnât wait a second. He leaned in, practically attacking your mouth.
The kiss was rough, with teeth clashing at first. You supposed it was probably clumsy, but you didnât have anything to compare it with.
You tried to mimic what Sirius was doing, and in a moment of daring (you were still a Gryffindor, after all), you bit his lower lip, eliciting a low groan from Sirius.
You usually learned best through practice, and kissing apparently wasnât an exception. You became more confident with each second his lips moved with yours, and when you felt his tongue brush against your lower lip, you instinctively opened your mouth.
The tongue slipped in immediately, accompanied by a satisfied hum from Sirius. It was strange, the sensation of it in your mouth at first, against your own. But you quickly found yourself enjoying it, and the fact that his hands were now firmly on your waist, running up and down, certainly didnât discourage you.
For someone who detested the very thought of being overpowered, you surprisingly enjoyed Siriusâ dominant position right now.
You rested your arms on his shoulders and started running your right hand through the hair on the back of his head, eliciting another groan, of satisfaction, you hoped.
You began to move your tongue along with his, and sooner than you realised, it became a battle. You were growing more and more eager to explore his mouth as well.
The fact that you were currently making out with your long-term crush was not lost on you, nor did it fail to make you even more aroused with each passing second. You had imagined a moment like this many times. In fact, you had imagined many other moments, and seeing how physical Sirius was, there was a big chance of them turning into memories or maybe, if you dared to think, regular occurrences.
In fact, you wouldnât settle for anything less. You were not interested in becoming one of many in the long line of Sirius Blackâs dalliances, as Remus liked to say sometimes.
And so, with great effort - both in actually willing yourself to do it, as well as managing against Siriusâ strength - you pulled away.
His eyes were half-lidded, pupils dilated, but a brow started to rise in question.
"Iâm not ruining our friendship for a week of fun with you, Sirius," you said, still breathless, but it was clear you were being frank right now.
"Iâm not either," he responded. "I want it to be more," he said.
"What are you saying?" you asked with a smirk, knowing very well what, but still wanting to hear it.
He rolled his eyes playfully. "And you complained about Jamesâ flair for dramatics," he said, and immediately dropped to one knee and took your hand. "Y/N L/N, will you, the breathtaking vision of enchanting beauty, the enthralling light of brilliance, do me the honour of allowing me to become your partner in love and life?" he asked in an over-dramatic tone.
You laughed and said in the same manner, "Sirius Black, your words have melted my heart completely. Iâd be thrilled to become your boyfriend."
He pretended to cry, followed by a quite amusing spectacle of pretending to die out of sheer joy, and then stood up, held you to him, and kissed you again, this time more tenderly. This kiss didnât seem desperate but wasnât chaste in any way either. You pulled him closer by his shirt, having your chests press together. He seemed very satisfied with it.
He was starting to pull your sweater off when the doors burst open with James in the front yet again, this time shrieking. Remus, who apparently joined him and Peter in the common room during your time alone with Sirius, said, "Turns out you were right, they were suffocating each other... Not in the way you predicted though," he added with a low chuckle.
Peterâs face was as red as a beet, and James just stared. After a while, he said, "I call you both my brothers, so itâs incest, you know. Iâll tell my mum."
"Youâre just worried Iâll cut into your cuddle time with him," you said to James, receiving a laugh from Remus and a smirk from Sirius that contradicted his severe tone.
"He could never cut into that, Jamie, you donât have to worry."
James decided to just shove him with a laugh as a response.

IMAGINE Human Turned Vampire Shoto Todoroki
Takes place at the university level; there is some lore about him. Here is some lore of the University, it is open ended though.
Here is Ghost Izuku, and Werewolf!Katsuki
Word Count: 680+
Human! Shouto comes from an interesting, complicated family. He wasn't always a vampire. He was human, just like everyone in the world, along with his siblings. In short, his mother's vampire genetics were dormant growing up just like the rest of his siblings.Â
Human! Shouto grew up in a town filled with monsters seeking refuge, trying to hide away from his father. It was a town where supernatural creatures resided and protected each other. His father was a human wizard who was obsessed with creating powerful beings. He almost killed Touya when he was a teenager.Â
Human! Shouto has a vampirism virus running through his veins. The only way to awaken that virus is by dying. However, his body is already acting as if he is a full-fledged vampire; his body craves drinking blood.Â
Human! Shouto and his siblings would have to resort to drinking a special drink created by a witch to make it more manageable. It satisfies the hunger for blood. They would also have the same struggles that vampires would, like being deathly allergic to real silver and not being able to be around certain flowers.Â
Human! Shouto remained human until he turned 20 years old. On his birthday, he turned into a vampire due to a fatal mistake made by a hunter who was following him and his group of friends. The hunter was truly aiming at one of Shoto's friends but missed fatally injuring Shoto.Â
Vampire! Shouto surprisingly adjusted to being a vampire very well and quickly since he has been taught self-restraint since he was a toddler. He keeps his new fangs to himself and buys blood bags along with the special drink from the local witch shop near campus.
Vampire! Shouto wasn't expecting to fall in love with you, his classmate who is considered to be Normie at Arcane University. A human who doesn't know anything about the supernatural. It was one of the transfer students that Arcane University had to let in to avoid suspicion from the government.Â
Vampire! Shouto feels like he is human again around you. He gets that weird sensation in his gut whenever he is around you, especially when you are smiling and laughing.Â
Vampire! Shouto guards his water bottle that has human blood with his life depending on it. He subconsciously places it beside him and away from your reach. It became a habit when he started dating you.Â
Vampire! Shouto had to leave abruptly during your first makeout session with you in your dorm room. His fangs popped out and cut your lip by accident. He was too relaxed and excited all at the same time. His fangs just popped out. He was also overdue to get some human blood in his system.
Vampire! Shouto's actions made you believe that he was scared of blood, but it was far from the truth. He liked your blood. If a vampire finds someone attractive, their blood is much sweeter to them. The way he left in the dormroom so fast that he had left his wallet and keys.Â
Vampire! Shouto felt a certain way at the sight of you dressing up as a vampire in the modern age for Halloween.Â
Vampire! Shouto was terrifying in the hide and seek game. He makes people scream in terror, feeling him hanging upside from the balcony with glowing eyes in the plain darkness of the night. It was the glowing eyes in the dark that looked terrifying. He is a monster of the night.
Vampire! Shouto is a monster of the night. He was using this game to let out that pin-up predator drive of hunting down prey. It explains why his eyes were glowing so menacing, making people feel trapped and small. That night was the birth of the rumors about him being some sort of demon.Â
Bonus:
Your words were playing on repeat in his mind for the rest of the night that you found him handsome with fangs and all. You were flustered at him when he smiled or smirked throughout the night.
It was attractiveâunknowingly, it was his real fangs.
Please feel free to ask me anything to request anything within this universe. I am sucker to supernatural au.

Severus's life if Tobias was an actual decent father and husband headcanons
When he finds out that Eileen and Severus are wizards, he takes a minute to take in the information (i feel like he is more the religious type) and even goes to church.
At first, he was angry that his own wife would hide that from him, but after much time and talking with a reasonable, open-minded, understanding priest, he went home and he and Eileen had a long talk.
He is a hard worker at the factory. He goes to work early but comes home late, and Eileen always makes him breakfast, lunch, and dinner and barely drinks but still drinks every now and then.
After Eileen told Tobias everything, he told her to educate him on the Wizarding world so he could have a better grasp of it.
After Tobias was educated on the Wizarding world, he did not like how relationships like his and Eileen's were looked down upon, which made him worried for Severus, especially when he got accepted into Hogwarts.
Severus still wears hand me downs but he does get some new clothes since they don't have a lot of money.
Tobias would be that husband and father that would glare or yell at someone who gave them looks or said/whispered something about them.
Tobias would not be afraid to fight somebody, magic or not. (YOU DO NOT MESS WITH THIS MAN'S FAMILY)
Whenever Severus comes back and he is acting different, he notices. He knows what being bullied looks like, and he talks with Severus about it
Tobias teaches Severus how to defend himself and shows him a couple of moves he learned in the military (the man obviously served)
Eileen would be more involved in Severus's life instead of being afraid.
When the "prank" happened, they immediately found out and gave Dumbledore h3ll for this. And they immediately pull Severus from hogwarts (but not before Tobias is about to give the marauders an old school a$$-whooping)
Eileen and Tobias transferred him to Durmstrang, where they kept a close eye on him (they are helicopter parents now, and u can't tell me otherwise)
Severus obviously noticed the struggle that his parents were facing, not just prejudice but the money struggle. So, growing up, he would always help his mom around the house, help cook and clean, and even sell some potions here and there. (He sells his potions to Tobias's work buddies)
Severus gives his dad potions to help his health and even casts a few spells on him to help him at work (Tobias even after all these years is still not used to it but is impressed by his son's brain)
When Severus graduated, a lot of potion masters wanted him, but he knew he couldn't afford it. So his parents both worked to scrounge him enough money to pay for his apprenticeship (severus helped, he's not letting his parents do all the work)
Severus's summer job as a teenager was helping out at either his father's factory or working at a bar
When Severus came out that he liked both girls and boys, both his parents weren't surprised. They found out a looooong time ago and had their time to process it. And they learned to accept him and his Sexuality in their own way.
Severus is a potion master, has his own apothecary, and his parents couldn't be prouder. He also has a medical and chemist degree. (So if anyone needs a doctor, he's your guy)
When Eileen passed away, Tobias was distant from Severus, but eventually, he learned to be close with his own son again for his wife's sake.
Tobias and severus visit Eileen's grave every year on her birthday.
After Tobias passed, Severus visits their grave in his free time just to talk to them and tell them about his life.
Severus is happier, calmer, and less depressed but still our favorite Sarcastic sharptounged Slytherin
He wouldn't join the deatheaters unless they threatened his parents. He would protect them with his life
Hope you guys love this little headcanons. Enjoy

Wolfstar Microfic - Azkaban
Words: 993
@wolfstarmicrofic
TW: suicidal ideation in a hyperbolic way
đâšđâšđ
The first night that Sirius spent at Remusâ cottage after being ordered to âlie lowâ there wasnât ideal. Nobody wanted to wake up their ex-boyfriend with their night terrors. Nobody sane, anyway. Sirius wasnât entirely sure which side of that line he fell on anymore, but when he woke up to Remus holding him to his chest and reminding him where he was, he hated himself.
By the time they moved to Grimmauld Place, it was established that Remus would tell Sirius a story about their time at Hogwarts as he fell asleep. This helped Sirius to remember, but it also helped with the night terrors, which they both suspected were some kind of lingering effect of the dementors.
Remus had his own room at Grimmauld Place, and he usually retreated to it once Sirius had fallen asleep, even though theyâd shared a bed for months before that. It helped him to keep things separate. Telling Sirius stories about their teenage selves was hard at times. Remembering James and Lily, remembering Peter and remembering how in love theyâd been. He didnât know how much Sirius remembered of their relationship, but as most of his positive memories were taken, he probably remembered a lot of the last few months and not much else. He mostly stuck to stories about James and Sirius, or the four of them.
âTell me about us.â Sirius had whispered after a few weeks, as Remus got comfortable next to him. âI know youâve been avoiding those stories.â
âI didnât know if youâd want to hear them,â Remus said. âOr what you remember.â
âI remember shouting at you in the shack and there was blood, but I donât remember why.â Sirius said, âThat seems like an important one but I canât get to most of it. Tell me that one?â
Remus chuckled, knowing the exact memory he meant. âAlright. So, this was about a month after Lily agreed to go out with James.â
đâšđâšđ
âMoony!â Sirius sounded frantic as Remus struggled to open his eyes. âCan you hear me?â
âUnfortunately.â Remus groaned. Sirius was shirtless, and covered in blood. He looked up at Sirius, panicked. âThe fuck did I do? Are you ok?â
âI canât stop your shoulder from bleeding. What do I do? James has gone to get Madam Pomfrey but youâre ââ
âOh, itâs mine? Just leave it.â Remusâ eyes shut again, âIâll sleep it off. Itâll be alright.â
âYou canât sleep off blood loss you unbelievable prick. Wake up!â Sirius shook his uninjured shoulder slightly, pressing his shirt against the wound on the other.
âSirius.â Remus growled, âShake me again and youâll wish you were dealing with the wolf.â
âSit up!â Sirius ignored him. âYou canât go back to sleep.â
âItâs fine.â Remusâ eyes closed again.
Sirius snapped, âItâs not fucking fine, Remus! Sit up and open your eyes.â Sirius wrapped his arms around Remusâ waist and hauled him into a sitting position before reapplying pressure to his shoulder. He felt Remus smile against his shoulder.
âIf you wanted to wrap your arms around me, all you had to do is ask, Padfoot.â He said, and Sirius swore that Remusâ teeth grazed his shoulder. âI think all you can do is apply pressure and hope for the best. Iâve got a lot of blood.â
âMoony, I love you, but when youâre not bleeding profusely in my arms, Iâm going to be so fucking angry with you. âIâve got a lot of bloodâ is notâ No, you donât. You have the same amount of blood as anyone else, you wanker. Sometimes itâs like you donât value your life.â
Remus, half-conscious as he was, felt very called out. âMy life doesnât have much value, to be fair.â
Sirius inhaled sharply, âNo. Because you donât have people around you that would do anything for you. Youâre not a fucking wizard. Your life has no value.â He said sarcastically.
âDidnât mean it like that, Pads.â He mumbled. âDonât.â
âThen how did you mean it?â He shouted. He would have walked out if he didnât know that Remus wouldnât be able to hold the shirt on his shoulder.
âWell, I love you too, by the way.â Sirius almost dropped the shirt as Remusâ eyes closed again. âWhen you have no choice but to turn into a monster once a month and repeatedly take chunks out of yourself, you can judge the way I cope with it. Iâm in a lot of fucking pain and I just want to sleep. Thank you for helping, as always, I appreciate it. Iâm just so tired.â
âNo.â Sirius poked his cheek until his eyes opened again. He looked mutinous. âYou're going to stay awake. I think I can hear them in the passage. Once youâre patched up, you can sleep.â
âYouâre going to make me talk about this later arenât you?â His eyes almost closed again, but he managed to open them and blink a few times.
âOf course I am.â Sirius could feel his heart pounding in his head.
"You could just focus on the love part, and not the hyperbolically suicidal part, if you wanted.â
âWeâll see.â Sirius tried so hard not to smile. âIf you tell me again when Iâm not covered in your blood, Iâll think about it.â
âSounds like a plan,â Remus said as Madam Pomfrey burst through the door, followed by James, who took one look at Sirius and almost threw up.
đâšđâšđ
âSo when I got out of the hospital wing, I couldnât wait, I pulled you behind a tapestry on the way to Charms and told you I loved you again. You were still pissed off, but I convinced you that I was pretty determined to stay alive.â He looked down at Sirius who was asleep. âYou donât know how much youâve always helped with that.â
He considered going back to his room, but eventually slipped beneath Siriusâ duvet and curled up against his back, wrapping an arm around his waist.

Hi, Im not sure if youve written anything about this before (I had a quick look but couldnt see anything), but I find Hermione's relationship with her parents kinda interesting. Obviously they're pretty chill with her being a witch â they go to diagon with her at least once and seem quite interested in that sort of thing, they're obviously very proud of her â but by about gof and ootf theyre completely absent from her life. Hermione doesnt seem to go home during that summer holiday and seems to spend the rest with the Weasleys which I find incredibly odd. Her parents were obviously not abusive, nor were they in any sort of danger until dh when Hermione goes on the run (and of course she oblivates them and moves them to Australia first). Voldemort doesnt even make any attacks until hbp because hes lying low. I just cant think why shes suddenly estranged from her parents to the point where they allow their only teenage daughter, who already spends majority of her time in Scotland, to spend her holidays with a family thats already financially struggling?? Surely no actual parent would do that. Of course it could be lazy writing by JK or the rising popularity of Hermione after directorial choices in the films which called for more page-time, but Id be very interested to hear your opinions on the topic because for the life of me I can't figure this out.
(sorry for the long ask)
Hi, no problem about the long ask.
I think Hermione's parents are probably one of the things JKR didn't think through, but I like looking at things like that froma an in universe prespective. And in universe the relationship between Hermione and her parents, while not abusive, has been estranged from day 0.
What I mean by it, is that I don't think Hermione was ever very close to her parents. We see how a muggleborn who is close to his parents acts with Colin Creevey:
âSo I can prove Iâve met you,â said Colin Creevey eagerly, edging further forward. âI know all about you. Everyoneâs told me. About how you survived when You-Know-Who tried to kill you and how he disappeared and everything and how youâve still got a lightning scar on your foreheadâ (his eyes raked Harryâs hairline) âand a boy in my dormitory said if I develop the film in the right potion, the picturesâll move.â Colin drew a great shuddering breath of excitement and said, âItâs amazing here, isnât it? I never knew all the odd stuff I could do was magic till I got the letter from Hogwarts. My dadâs a milkman, he couldnât believe it either. So Iâm taking loads of pictures to send home to him. And itâd be really good if I had one of youâ â he looked imploringly at Harry
(CoS)
He tries to keep his muggle parents up to date with his life in the wizarding world. He brought a camera explicitly for that purpose. Hermione, on the other hand, never really included her parents in her life. They try to be supportive, they go with her to Diagon, but I'm convinced they know very little of what's going on at Hogwarts with their daughter.
I mean, she probably tells them about her high grades and about Harry and Ron, but she probably never told them about Voldemort, or at least, not much. Or about the bigotry she has to deal with as a muggleborn. I'm also pretty sure she didn't tell them how dangerous Hogwarts is or that she got petrified in 2nd year. I mean, I don't know about you, but if my daughter told me everything that happened to Hermione, I would start asking about alternative magical education that isn't Hogwarts.
I think Hermione was always a lonely child, her parents were likely at work or conventions more often than with her and she is used to hiding things from them. Hermione 100% used to be bullied in her muggle primary school, you see it in how she acts, and I think she didn't tell her parents about that either. So Hermione and her parents were never close in my opinion.
And then, you take this girl who is used to hiding the less pleasant aspects of her life from her parents and send her to the wizarding world. And she's smart, she quickly realizes no one wants to hear about dentists and that she doesn't belong. So she shuts up, she stops bringing her parents up since everyone thinks surgeons are just maniacs who cut into people. So she reads up, she studies everything she can so she would belong, because she never found herself in the muggle world and she loves magic. She loves the wizarding world and chooses to be part of it, even at the price of cutting her parents out of her life.
In first year, Hermione goes back home for Christmas, but from year 2 and onwards she stays at Hogwarts becouse she doesn't want to miss out in that year's mystery, or time with Ron and Harry. She, like Harry, doesn't want to leave the wizarding world for a world they consider worse.
And the fact she does her best to spend more and more time in the wizarding world is an extension of that. It's not that she hates her parents, she loves them, but she loves them less than she loves the wizarding world.
I think, the moment in book 4 in which she took the chance to fix her teeth magically against what her dentist parents would think is right, is a moment that shows that clear choice. Mr. and Mrs. Granger clearly care about Hermione and want what's best for her, but Hermione thinks she is better than them because she is a witch. She treats her parents like children who don't know what's good for them. She knows because she's a witch, so she can send them away for their safety. They might think using magic on her teeth is dangerous, but they're muggles they don't know better. Even Hermione falls into this prevalent mindset among wizards that they know better than muggles.
The Creevy brothers wanted to keep both the wizarding world and their parents. Hermione chose the wizarding world. She figured that if she truly wanted to belong and be up to date with everything, months in the muggle world would make this assimilation harder, so she stayed in the wizarding world. And when the time comes to make a hard decision to Obliviate her parents and send them away, it is easier to rationalize. She hasn't been part of their life for so long anyway, they would hardly notice the difference, besides, she's the witch, she's the one in the know, not them.
It's quite sad, but it's a result of Hermione's decision to assimilate into the wizarding world as if she was always there which is, I think, influenced by the bigotry that is everywhere. I mean, even the Weasleys look down on muggles:
âAre they doctors?â he [Harry] asked Ron quietly. âDoctors?â said Ron, looking startled. âThose Muggle nutters that cut people up? Nah, theyâre Healers.â
(OotP)
So, yeah, Hermione chose to be a witch, and to her, that means cutting her parents she was never too close to out of her life.

Your recent train of posts about you-know-whoâs book series got me thinking. You once said âThe Owl House works as a sort of rebuttal to Harry Potter in a lot of waysâ, care to elaborate on that statement? Especially in regards to how The Owl Houseâs worldbuilding and themes clash with Harry Potterâs?
Oh man... I don't want my blog to be consumed by Harry Potter Hot Takes. I'd prefer to vent most of those feelings through my wizard books instead, it's more productive that way.
So, ok, short version: The Owl House is about a teenager from the mundane world discovering there's a magical world hidden away, goes there to learn magic, and in the process uncovers a plot by an abominable fascist to commit genocide. In very simplistic terms, that is more or less the same plot as Harry Potter.
But the devil's in the details, isn't it? Luz doesn't have any grand inheritance to claim, no prophecy to fulfill, nothing that makes her the most special specialest special person of all time. There's even a whole episode early on where a villain tries to lure her to her doom by claiming she's the chosen one, and the lesson is that NO ONE is "chosen" for greatness - greatness is something you make yourself, not something that's thrust upon you. She is not inherently gifted as a witch - in fact, she struggles harder because she doesn't have a a special bladder true witches are born with, and has to learn an ancient and forgotten method of spellcasting basically from scratch to cast spells at all. She is, emphatically and at times definitely deliberately, the opposite of what Harry Potter is.
So is her academic experience. There's a magic school in this setting, and (at first) it wants nothing to do with Luz because she's human, not a witch, and thus is believed to be incapable of casting spells. So Luz's primary mode of education on magic comes from a private mentor, Eda, who is also a wanted criminal and social outcast because of her disdain for the draconian rules of their society. Eda is an unconventional but magnificent mentor, one who is as willing to try new things and learn new methods as Luz herself, and who helps Luz discover ways to make possible what everyone else claims is impossible. Eventually Luz does convince the magic school to take her in, but in the process she changes how it runs, challenging a lot of its preconceived notions and forcing them to do better.
Which is vital, because the biggest problem facing the society of this magical world is narrow-minded reliance on outdated social categorization. Like HP, people are sorted into categories (covens here instead of houses), which they are then forced to stick to and never dabble in the others. It is explicitly compared to both the concept of tracking in real world education (i.e. forcing kids into a career path early and ONLY giving them education relevant to that one career) and the house system of HP:
youtube
And it's wrong. It's both presented as needlessly limiting, terrible for encouraging advancement and growth of both the students and society as a whole, and an immoral system that's only kept alive by the "Well, this is how we've always done it" inertia that keeps so many awful traditions in education alive. And I really do mean it's immoral, because it's the brain child and secretly crucial evil tool of a genocidal fascist.
I kind of cringe at writing those two words since I feel people have been WAY too quick to accuse cartoon villains from children's shows of fascism and genocide - like, Chairface Chippendale writing his name on the moon with a laser would probably kill a shitload of people in real life, but that doesn't mean he's an analogue to Hitler. But Belos, like fellow Disney villain Frollo, is clearly intended to be exactly that: a genocidal fascist. In a world full of magic-fueled absurdist black comedy beats, Emperor Belos stands out as a consistently serious threat, tonally dissonant with his surroundings in a way that makes him chillingly effective as a villain. And like real world powerful bigots, his power primarily comes from the fact that the systems of society favor his mindset over those of outsides like Luz and Eda - all the systems of oppression our heroes chafe against were either created by or worsened by him, with the express purpose of using them to kill everyone and everything in the magical world.
Luz could not be more thematically opposed to her enemy, and the story is incredibly consistent in showing how defeating Belos alone isn't enough, but that the systems that empowered him have to be disproven and dismantled. His enablers must be destroyed or humbled, the prejudices he encouraged must be torn down and fought at every turn, and innovation and progress must be embraced for the good of all. There's so much stuff you could analyze about the themes in that show regarding oppression and the othering of people who are different, and it's all so, SO much more consistent than the discussion of the same themes you'll find in Harry Potter.

Some headcanons for Griffin, Faragonda and Saladin
I have some headcanons about Saladin, Griffin and Faragonda. All three of them have been "cursed" (not cursed per se, I'm using the word 'curse' as a metaphor for their trauma) during the Company of Light era.
Saladin prides himself in his powerful abilities as a wizard, especially in his strength.
When the time came to face a battle between the Ancestral Witches and their minions during one of the Company of Lightâs missions, one of them cursed him to age quickly, which heavily affected his height too, causing him to shrink. It took him a while to adjust to his condition, but despite his curse, he is still able to retain the potency of his magical abilities with some limitations that comes with being cursed, which Valtor in Season 3 insinuates that he is the weakest (obvs he is far from that!) among the three points of magic.
With Faragonda, being able to have better control of her powers is one of the most important things to her. For most part of her childhood up to her early teenage years, she struggled understanding herself and her powers. Growing up from a family of witches and wizards, she was born a witch and because she was unable to control her powers (thanks to the pressure from her parents), despite the help of Griffin when they were younger, she decided to transfer from Cloud Tower to Alfea to become a fairy.
When she switched schools, it had caused a slight rivalry and bitterness between her and Griffin since light magic is the more socially acceptable type of magic. By channeling positive emotions, it has helped her manage and understand her powers better. This also led to an interest in teaching herself convergence at Alfea (which she teaches in the series), particularly converging with dark magic users. With Faragonda's own research in convergence with light and dark magic to fight the forces of evil, she had hoped it would bridge the gap between fairies and witches (especially from Alfea and Cloud Tower), hoped it would bring her and Griffin together like they once were and hoped it would help the Council understand that light and dark can work in unison, and that dark magic users are important to the balance of magic. I'll expand on Faragonda's role, powers and background in my CoL fic later on. Similar to Griffin's own research in my headcanons for her.
Anyway, during Faragondaâs mission to rescue Griffin from the Ancestral Witches' lair in Obsidian, everything was going to plan when Faragonda found herself in a trap set by one of the members from the Wizards of the Black Circle, Yllidith (a character from the comics who we do not see in the show). Long story short, Yllidith plucked Faragondaâs wings in front of Griffin (who was magi-cuffed at the time, also tied to her fate, so she couldn't access her powers as she watched in horror). Hagen and Saladin both came to their rescue and fought off the wizard and other beings of evil. And with all the strength she had left, Faragonda opened a portal and teleported them back to safety despite being severely wounded. Even with the help of her Enchantix fairy dust or any fairy who was at Enchantix level, there had been no cure in growing her fairy wings back.
However, since witches don't need wings to fly, Griffin taught Faragonda to fly with a LOT of trial and error + it had taken Faragonda years to heal from losing her wings. She also had gotten a little better at channeling her negative emotions but she was still better suited as a fairy and was at her best with transmitting positive emotions despite being wingless.
Griffinâs curse is thanks to Valtor for her betrayal during their final encounter with one another. He has cursed her to never know peace. Anything she holds dear somehow gets taken away from her, even momentarily and she's in a constant state of chaos, also most likely from her PTSD from the war(s). (Faragonda helps Griffin cope with and manage her curse, they both do!)
Cloud Tower (CT) is one of the things she holds dear because it is her safe space, not only for herself or the many objects (some rare, dangerous and ancient relics) that is home to it but also for her students who she deeply care for.
The times when CT was invaded by the Trix and with them being related to the Ancestral Witches (AW), you can imagine how triggering it was for her, especially when sheâs worked incredibly hard to make sure CT is a school where witches of dark magic can learn how to control their powers for good and help fight evil. She fears that, with the Trix being in control of CT, history might repeat itself and cause an army of dark magic users who uses their powers for evil causing an imbalance in magic.
And letâs not forget when Valtor took control of CT and her students, it had really caused her dearly. He even sent her to prison in her own school, a cruel way to face her punishment for betraying him all those years ago. He had hoped she'd rot in her prison cell for eternity, to be a prisoner of her own mind from her grief and guilt, the same way he did when he was trapped in the Omega Dimension. (Of course, we know what canonically happened in Season 3).

1. Good Intentions by Gloworm13 [E, 382k]
âșHarry never expected a conversation over returning Draco's wand. [...] Harry can't cope, especially when his group of peers is sent back to Hogwarts to finish their interrupted Seventh Year. And Draco Malfoy is wholly unprepared for facing the love of his life every fucking day now that he knows.
2. About Everything We Fucked Up and Tried to Fix by @zoooooey0610 [E, 246k]
âșThe time is the Dark Middle Ages, even with Voldemort defeated, the Wizarding world is still a place where Omegas are seen as properties. Couldnât sleep, Harry came across âThe Slytherin Wall of Slutsâ that changed the rest of his life, but the cog wheel of destiny may have started to move long before that. Twelve years later, he was confronted with the presents of destiny, and struggled to deal with the mess. However, every step he took seemed to be another mistake.
3. Cut From the Sky by @mallstars [E, 150k]
âș"I'm stuck in a time loop, reliving November 2nd. This is the 111th time I've lived through today." Draco stilled. His moody eyes, the tension in his hands where he gripped onto his umbrella, the careful mask of blankness flickering over his face â everything about him was so difficult and so very dear to Harry. "Ah," said Draco, "and?"
4. After the Rain Falls by @shinigami714 [E, 95k]
âșAfter the events of the war, all Harry wants to do is forget. For everything to return to normal. But things never were normal for him, and the war left many marks on him not so easily forgotten. When he receives a surprising offer to return to Hogwarts in a continuing education program, Harry jumps at the chance, and despite his best efforts to deal with his problems alone, discovers along the way that quite often, two minds are greater than one.
5. guard dog by chrismare [?, 63k]
âșThe first thing Draco ever loved was the Manor. Not the house- it was too big, too quiet, too cold- but the grounds that surrounded it. He grew up on stinging soles, running barefoot through his own little world. One of the house elves had cleaned the tiny cuts on his feet once and told him that he'd get used to it, that he'd grow calluses and it would stop hurting. It never really did.
6. Dating Draco Malfoy by @queenofthyme [M, 60k]

âșHarry Potter thought the hardest part about being the Chosen One would be preparing to fight Voldemort. He didn't expect it might actually be missing out on all the normal teenaged stuff. Now in sixth year, Harry feels like an outsider, too worried about being the subject of another Witch Weekly article to try to take part. When he and Draco Malfoy land in a semester's worth of detention, Draco is delighted and horrified to discover the Boy Who Lived is not only a virgin, he doesn't even know how to snog. Secret snogging lessons. It's not like it's anything more than just catching Harry up a bit. What could go wrong?
8. That Marriage Contract by Umeko [E, 54k]

9. Terrible People by @wolfpants [E, 52k] --- ART by @getawayfox
âșWhat happens when Harry and Draco end up on the same Muggle gay cruise? They certainly didn't plan for it to happen (but their friends might have). They're stuck with each other for a week, they might as well make the most of it, right? Featuring a holiday-long game of Truth or Dare, a very ill-judged FWB proposition, decades-long pining, lots of gin, and a small pair of green swimming trunks.
10. and i ignite by @pixiedunhoff [M, 51k]
âșDraco Malfoy loves attention - and the Muggle world has given it to him in spades. Through a surprising and humbling series of events, Draco has achieved tremendous success in the music industry. He has recouped his fortune, earned legions of adoring fans, and gets loads of attention. Over the years, it has still never been quite enough⊠Until the subject of his more sizzling songs abruptly barges back into his life, demanding answers.

What I really struggle with in HP is JKR's shallow neoliberal world-building, and how it forces characters to navigate it quite awkwardly. As a big fan of the werewolf lore, I hate what she did there. I want to accept some of the self hatred and oversimplification of the society as complexities of the characters, but some of it also just feels like bad writing. Of course I am a bit of a Lupin stan and I'll do some gymnastics to try to make him a better man/werewolf than he'd ever be (I like to picture him as kind of a Union rep), but I don't know, I just really feel like canon is lacking. Am I just not a great reader?
no, i don't think you're a bad reader, anon.
when it comes to worldbuilding, jkr is certainly no tolkien - a lot of the inconsistencies in canon [i.e. why dumbledore flies to the ministry in philosopher's stone] come from her not having the world fully mapped out prior to writing, and, while this isn't as much of an issue as the fandom makes out [lots of authors adapt their worldbuilding as they go along!], it's definitely exacerbated by the fact that she has a tendency to claim certain inconsistencies were intentional.
the series' politics are also clearly incredibly neoliberal. and part of this [such as the fact that the order is defending the "sensible" status quo] is obviously a bleed-through from jkr's worldview, and i think it's legitimate to acknowledge and criticise that and how it manifests itself in the doylist text.
nonetheless, i think it is worth saying that the fandom has a tendency to criticise aspects of the text which ought instead to be understood as intentional spaces we can devote our energy to filling in. the genre conventions of the series require it to become an uncomplicated good-versus-evil trajectory which ends with all being well - and i do think that, when we're criticising jkr's writing, it's important to acknowledge that the ending of the series feels unsatisfactory because it does these conventions properly, rather than in spite of that fact. similarly, the reason that apparently key aspects of wizarding society [law, politics, etc.] don't get discussed in detail is because they're not the series' focus - i've mentioned elsewhere that i'm obsessed with the concept of wizarding medicine, and that i find the way this is presented in the series really shallow, but i recognise that this is because medicine isn't something the series wants to focus on. order of the phoenix is too long as it is - we don't need 200 more pages of detailed descriptions of how healers learn their craft...
and so i think it's fun for us to work in our own writing to make the worldbuilding feel a bit more cohesive.
the easiest way i've found to square this circle with the watsonian text is to recognise that harry is a partial narrator. he's someone with an incredibly self-serving, black-and-white moral code; he's incredibly privileged within wizarding society and comparatively privileged within muggle society [by which i don't mean that he isn't neglected by the dursleys, but he's also canonically white, able-bodied, cisgender, a native english speaker, well-educated, raised in a middle-class household and so on] and, therefore, never has to actually think about the politics and structure of wizarding society; and he's also a teenage boy, which explains him not being particularly observant or politically aware.
[the best example of this is, of course, that he doesn't give a shit about sirius' treatment of kreacher - because he likes sirius - and he doesn't consider his own mastery over kreacher to be a moral abomination - because he's shown to not really understand the broader social impact of slavery - but he detests the malfoys' treatment of dobby entirely and only because he dislikes the malfoys.]
his attitude towards lupin - and his attitude towards werewolves more generally - can be made sense of through this, i think. harry doesn't care about the broader state-sanctioned oppression of werewolves because it doesn't impact him, he cares about lupin's experience because it does; harry doesn't notice the imperialist overtones to lupin's self-presentation [that is, that he bears "the unmistakable signs of having tried to live among wizards"] and considers lupin's embrace of "civilisation" to be a good thing [in comparison to werewolves like greyback, who reject it] because it's what he personally considers legitimate; harry focuses on specific aspects of lupin's character because he's not a omniscient perspective - he's a [canonically short-sighted] teenage boy.

What are your headcanons on Severus and the Malfoys? Do you think he genuinely considered them friends, or was it part of his cover? Or were they ever really friends at some point?
I have so much to say about this! I actually have two different versions of the story, and I think both of them could be canon. I can never decide between them because both seem plausible, so Iâll share my opinion on each and let everyone decide which one fits best.
Despite being a poor, scruffy, half-blood kid from a working-class background, I think Lucius took Severus under his wing because, after all, Lucius was already a 15-year-old teenager who was likely quite involved in pure-blood extremist circles and had probably heard of Voldemort by then. He was probably trying to make a good impression by recruiting as many people as possible. And despite Severusâ background, treating him with respect was a pretty shrewd move to maintain unity within Slytherin and promote that âus against the worldâ mentality. This would ultimately foster the cult-like environment that developed during that era. I also think that, after seeing that Severus, beyond his background, had a strong interest and talent for the Dark Arts and was a good student, Lucius probably saw that Severusâ skills could be useful, which is why he kept him under his wing. Lucius Malfoy is often portrayed as a snobbish buffoon, but besides being a shrewd man, heâs part of high society, old money. And even the classist aristocrats know how to make use of the working class and recognize talent because, historically, theyâve maintained their position by exploiting such talent.
I think Lucius and Severus maintained that mentor-pupil relationship for many years, and once Lucius graduated, he intervened to help Severus be accepted and valued within his House while also using him as a sort of personal charity project. Like Cher in Clueless (whoâs based on Emma Woodhouse from Jane Austen) taking on an awkward kid from the North without wealth or pedigree and turning him into someone fit for high magical societyâa kind of social experiment, if you will. I think this made Severus feel indebted to him, at least before Voldemort killed Lily. I also believe that, during Severusâ school years, his gratitude stemmed not only from this âmentorshipâ but also from the fact that, for the first time, someone believed in him and motivated him to pursue his ambitions. Lucius was like a father/older brother figure whom he respected and appreciated for seeing him as more than just a poor kid with nothing.
That said, my interpretation of their relationship splits into two possibilities once Severus becomes a double agent.
On one hand, thereâs the idea that, after Lilyâs death, feeling guilty and determined to actively work for Voldemortâs downfall, Severus emotionally distanced himself from the Malfoys as much as possible. The relationship they developed over the next 18 years would then be solely a means to an endâto gain favor with someone influential within the Ministry and among the most important dark wizards. Deep down, it was all a façade because the Malfoys also represented everything he despised and regretted being a part of, so he decided to cut off any emotional attachment to them. Basically: it was all fake.
The other version, and the one I prefer because it feels more realistic, is that Severus, as the abused and abandoned child he was, would always experience cognitive dissonance toward people who treated him well during his most vulnerable years. Itâs something evident in his view of Lily, even though he was joining a group that literally wanted to kill people like her, and I can see it applying to his view of the Malfoys as well. Though they were a family actively working to end people like Lily, and Severus would ultimately have to confront them if it came to it, heâd still struggle to sever his emotional ties with the Malfoys. Just as he couldnât understand why his friendship with Lily was ending because of his choices, I donât think heâd be able to emotionally cut off the Malfoys, even if he knew they were terrible or knew he might eventually have to face them in battle. Much like how Lily being the first person to treat him with kindness was enough to make him risk everything to atone for his indirect role in her death and his support of Voldemort, I think Lucius âtaking him inâ also carved out a streak of loyalty in Severus toward his family. Severus strikes me as someone fiercely loyal to anyone whoâs shown him kindness or understanding, even if that loyalty is against his own interests. And despite everything, I think he genuinely cared about the Malfoys. While he no longer admired Lucius, I think he still respected him in a certain way, like a younger brother who knows his older brother is a jerk but still sees him as his older brother.
I also think Narcissa had a kind of âolder sisterâ vibe for himâthat when she and Lucius were dating and Severus was still a kid, she saw him as this scruffy little guy, like a cute but poor puppy. And that impression probably stuck with him too. I think he always felt more comfortable with her than with Lucius, since she was associated more with the maternal than with authority. While his favoritism toward Slytherins was partly to maintain appearances and partly due to resentment toward Gryffindors, I believe he genuinely liked Draco. This affection, though, was likely another form of cognitive dissonance because Draco was far more similar to James than Harry ever was (in terms of character, classism, and using his status, family name, and influence to torment others). But just as his hatred of Harry was a reflection of his resentment toward James, his affection for Draco was probably a reflection of his relationship with Lucius and Narcissa.

Jumping on the headcanons bandwagon: do you have any for professor Sharp? Love your work, this is one of my favourite blogs.
A/N: I'm happy you enjoy my work đ đ
AESOP SHARP HEADCANONS
Sorted to Slytherin
Quiet and reserved, but not shy, just heavily introverted
He was a quick study of DADA, charms and potions; top of the class
Struggled with transfiguration, a bit too technical for his liking
Always wanted to be an auror, most of his family members were
Had one best friend in school, they both strived to be aurors
Never had a girlfriend in school; he didn't understand the romantic obsession some teenagers had, he likes his alone time
Graduated with high marks and went straight to auror training
It was his mentor that taught him "Shortcuts only lead to shortcomings"
This is where his lack of interpersonal skills hurt him; he could track and fight dark wizards till the stars themselves fell, but calm a distraught person over the death of a loved one? ....nope. awkward as hell.
And office politics at the Ministry? Actual hell. Hated the lot of them.
Except one
A young secretary working for one of the higher ups, she was one of the few people he could stand to be around without losing his mind
He found himself making excuses to go see her or finding the most mundane reasons to go talk to her
His best friend turned work partner knew right away what was happening, would tease him endlessly about it
She made the first move to go on a date; nothing fancy, just a casual lunch date
They never made it back to work from talking for so long
Both of them got writeups but didn't care
He knew within months of knowing her that he wanted to marry her
He proposed privately in his family's garden, just them and the spring butterflies
He was on top of the world; being one of the best aurors the Ministry had and about to marry the love of his life
....but we all know it doesn't end that way
December 31, 1875
He and his partner were ambushed while on assignment
His partner, his best friend, dies
Death curse to the chest, his eyes frozen wide with surprise
Aesop fights off a total of 35 dark wizards single handedly, being critically injured in the process
He holds his fallen partner as he uses the last of his strength to apparate to St. Mungo's
He passed out on the street in front of the hidden hospital where he is found by staff
He sleeps for days in the hospital, his fiance staying with him as long as she can every day
When he wakes up, he's silent
Even when he looks at his lover, his eyes are dark and hollow
The healers did what they could for him but the damage his body took from the curses would leave him with chronic pain and a limp for the rest of his life
He struggles to walk out of St. Mungo's but refuses to use a cane; pride won't let him
His injuries result in his medical discharge from being an auror, his response is anger
His grief over the list of his partner and career sent him down a dark spiral of self destruction
He becomes belligerent, aggressively arguing with everyone over anything about his condition (mentally or physically)
He drinks to numb the pain
That only makes things worse
Any money he had for a wedding is slowly squandered away by drink
Hangovers made him even more insufferable
He refused to talk to anyone about the night of his friend's death, even his fiance
He didn't even go to his friends service, it made things too final and he wasn't ready to accept his friend's death
His behavior eventually led to a fight with his fiance, a big one
She left the ring on the table
He never saw her again
He was alone
Weeks later a familiar face came knocking, his mentor
His mentor gave him the talk he needed to hear
There where shouts of anger until tears of sorrow flowed
He broke and finally accepted that he was in a bad place
Everything he had was gone and he needed to let himself greive
Even after he finally took the time to take care of himself, he still didn't know what to do next until Hogwarts needed a new potions professor
He could try that
Teach kids...not his first choice but he wasn't doing anything else with his life at the time
Worst case scenario, he quits
Turns out he loves it. as much as teaching comes with its own stresses, watching them figure out and admire a well earned accomplishment makes it all worth it
In his time at Hogwarts, he's tried contacting his lost love to no avail
It's one of his deepest regrets, pushing her away
He's well settled as a professor and living life one day at a time

What are your thoughts on Lily? I think she recieves too much hate. I get that sheâs a flawed character but the way people are discussing her is like sheâs a complete bitch and has been thhrougout her friendship with Sev, which I donât agree on.
Thank you for asking this question. I had written a long meta about the relationship and friendship between Severus and Lily, but it became so lengthy that I wasnât sure how to post it. Now, I've separated the parts that focus more on Lilyâs character and written them here.(Yes, it's still long but it's shareable now)
I enjoy Snily fanfics and absolutely love Lilyâs characterization in them, but I have different feelings about canon Lily. Iâm not anti-Lily, but I don't think she holds any significant moral superiority or special virtues compared to other characters in the books.
Most of what we know about Lily comes from when she was 15. Yes, itâs admirable that she sacrificed her life at 21 to save her child, but that doesnât necessarily say much about her character. Many mothers of any age and from any part of the world would do the same for their children. We donât know how much she matured or grew as a person. We donât know if she was satisfied with the choices she made as a teenager or what her feelings toward Severus were in her final days. Thatâs why I base my judgments on 15-year-old Lily.
I see her as a warm, charming, and somewhat immature girl who, coincidentally, really enjoys positive attention (though not to the extent that James does). She tries to be kind to everyone to be liked, yet feels that other girls donât really like her and are envious. Unlike her son, she doesnïżœïżœïżœt have a complex moral code, she tends to see the world in black and white like her sister Petunia. To her, youâre either on her side and therefore her friend, or youâre against her and her enemy. Sheâs the type of person who can easily attract people at first glance but struggles to form deeper, more meaningful connections with them.
I think part of the reason people dislike her is that they see her as more than what she is and have high expectations of her. Fanon often portrays Lily as a girl from a high-status, wealthy family, a feminist, strong, and independent woman, which makes people expect her to have been able to solve many of the issues she faced. However, in canon, she clearly doesnât have any of these traits. We donât even know if her family was rich or poor, but since she lived near Snape, it doesnât seem like there was much of a class difference between their families.
Yes, canon Lily is lively, smart, and kind, and she gets good grades, but thatâs different from being ambitious, powerful, or having feminist or progressive views.
Lily marries and has a child immediately after finishing school, before she truly reaches intellectual and emotional maturity. In canon, we donât see her play a significant role in the war, undertake any special missions for the Order, or even hold a notable job or career before having Harry. She fits more into the traditional role of a wife and homemaker. I think if she had survived and the war ended, she would have lived a life very similar to Molly Weasley (though not with as many children). Sheâd be a loving wife and warm mother. Of course, she would likely spoil her child more than Molly does, letting him off the hook easily. Like Petunia, she would overlook her childâs mistakes unless it involved dark magic.
I understand that most people in the wizarding world marry young, but we have characters like Minerva McGonagall, who remains independent, even refusing to change her surname after marriage. In Fantastic Beasts, we see women who, despite the war, maintain their roles as strong, independent individuals whose identities arenât solely tied to being someoneâs wife or mother. So, Lily isnât an exceptional character in this regard. Sheâs more like the average woman of her time. When we view her as a very average woman, rather than the amazing, powerful, modern figure seen in fanfics, her behavior becomes much easier to understand.
As for her marriage, I can imagine what was going through her mind: everything with James Potter was easier, simpler, and more stable because, from birth, everything was handed to him. He doesnât need to work hard for happiness or a future, as his high social status and vast family wealth are guaranteed. He probably promised Lily a successful marriage and a sweet and happy family, perhaps even on their first date, filling her with hope for what was to come. Itâs only natural that a teenage girl like Lily, who sees the world in black and white and has a fragile social standing in the wizarding world, would quickly decide that marrying someone like James Potter â who is at the pinnacle of her moral scale ( he doesnât use dark magic) â was the best choice for her future. This pattern of marriage reminds me of Petunia. She marries her boss, who is also much older than her because he can give her the stable, normal life she dreams of, with a secure income.
Sometimes I think the way Lily chose James and how Snape chose Voldemort are similar. Both were teenagers who made these decisions to secure their place in the wizarding world and cover their insecurities. Lily is fortunate to have an easier life than Severus, and as a woman, she can rely on the support of a wealthy and pure blood man. Snape, on the other hand, didnât have Lilyâs privileges. He had to work hard to secure his place, offering his life and loyalty to Voldemort, who promises him acceptance, security, and protection in return.
I also disagree with the idea that Lily is responsible for all of Snapeâs problems or that if she had stayed friends with Severus, he wouldnât have joined Voldemort:
Snapeâs life was far more complicated and difficult for Lilyâs presence to magically fix everything. Rowling says Snape sought acceptance, security, and peace. Clearly, Lily couldnât provide those things for him (after all, she was just 15). Snape needed a strong, father-figure type of support at that age. Teenage Snape, contrary to those who want to portray him as obsessed with Lily, had a proud and independent personality. He didnât base his entire life around Lilyâs presence or absence. Yes, he apologized for his mistake, but when Lily threatened to leave him, he didnât make any effort to change his circumstances. Thatâs why I donât believe the people who say Snape only switched sides because of an obsession with Lily. His love for her lit the path for him later in life, but it was Snape who gave that love the power to guide him and help him grow.
