More of my Death Cleric Sunshine, backstory edition! Recently my DM and I fleshed out a fair bit about the relationship he had with the necromancer who raised him (uh, not literally).

Do you guys get Spring Break?
Snake: For our jobs you mean?
Webs: We all do... Except for Mr. Grumpypants. 😔
Snake: Ugh, there is no Spring Break for a fast-food worker like me. This stinks...
Wolf: Snake... Maybe you can ask Diane for a more flexible job? Remember when she offered us to be her assistants or bodyguards?
Snake: Thanks, but no thanks... I am gonna stand on my own two non-existant feet.
Shark: Hmmm... Snake... I think this is for you. Hands Snake a letter.
Snake: Wat?
From Dr. Doom. Under the Dr. Doom signature is a black feather.
Snake: What the?

I love Idia fics w a super sunshiney polar opposite love interest !!! BUT !! Let’s mix it up a little boys!! Give me Idia Shroud w an equally jaded and antisocial MC. Give me Idia Shroud with an equally weird and awkward and OFFPUTTING MC!!! Bonus points if the aforementioned awkward MC is forced to interact with the world on a daily basis (like at a job) bc they don’t have the luxury of a family fortune at their disposal. An MC that would rot in their room all day if they didn’t have to feed and clothe themselves bc the world SUCKS but they have to be a productive person! I need to see more weirdo MCs with niche interests of their own!!! I get the appeal of blank slate MCs that you can project onto, but to me it sometimes breaks the immersion!!! Make them bitter, and snarky, and let them tell jokes that don’t land!!! The polar opposites trope is cute and fun sometimes but I want more Freak Loser MC Representation!!! Do not be afraid to make them a socially inept cringefail loser bc Idia is a cringefail loser himself !!!
#is this self indulgent bc I hate my job?#absolutely#fuck it my writing arc is incoming#this job is my villain origin story and by that I mean I’m about to start writing fanfiction#either I quit or i write cringefail loser MC fics and the choice is obvious#idia shroud#twisted wonderland#idia post ( ; ; )<3

oh god i'm spiraling thinking about how this is going to make elaine feel after she hears asa did this as soon as she dropped him off! and beth and cara? danny and casper? stevie maybe being the one to find him?? IM LOSING IT
seriously i feel so bad for elaine, she has the least context of anyone in this situation. all she knows is that asa was acting weirder than normal and very secretive, then she takes him home and within hours he takes his life. she'll be rethinking everything he told her that day, i mean he literally said “If I can’t help anyone, then… I don’t know why I’m even here. I don’t know how much longer I can stand to be so useless.” she's going to feel so guilty :(
beth, who has been battling with herself over whether she should let asa be a normal kid with privacy and agency, and who only just convinced caroline to ease up on him a little. and cara??? this is quite literally her worst fear:
danny and casper, who both chose to pursue something for themselves instead of putting their family first like they always have in the past, who are terrified of being far away when their family needs them.
stevie, who convinced asa to look for finn in the first place, and who already has guilt over the way she froze up and watched a woman die because she couldn't jump into action quickly enough. stevie, who will have to be the one to intercept asa's parents at the door if the paramedics haven't gotten there yet.
jada, who we aren't sure how much she saw or knows yet, but the sheer amount of guilt she has weighing her down is already so so heavy. i can't even imagine how responsible she would feel for potentially being unable to save her best friend since the literal day he was born.
and finn??? the real kicker for me is that finn would/will be horrified when he finds out what asa put his family through, all for him. he got upset when asa did something as innocuous as burning family pictures, because asa's family loves him so much and he hates that asa has put such a strain on their relationship because of finn.
but i hope i've made it clear enough that this isn't really about finn. asa hasn't been cycling through antidepressants and seeing countless doctors since he was 12 for no reason; he genuinely does struggle with severe depression, losing finn was just the last straw. asa's ability to see ghosts has caused him so much pain over the years, but finn alone made it worth the heartache. without him, he feels entirely helpless. he's surrounded by people every moment of every day, but he can't connect with a single one of them. so while his motivation here may not have been to die and stay dead, i also can't say that he had a clear enough mind to be worried about the emotional impact this would have on the people around him. he knows that if caroline found his body, she would never recover from that, but even that is only a short-term consequence – he's not thinking about how his loved ones will feel in a week or a year or the rest of their lives. i can't really fault him for that. but the whole thing is fucking tragic :(
#personal vent incoming:#i wrote this whole story arc in my notes while i was in a good place mentally#but for the past month i've been.. not good lol#so talking about this is a little bit difficult but it's also cathartic? and eye opening#when you're that deep in depression it's honestly impossible to care about the future consequences of your actions#it's hard to explain but it feels like there IS NO future for anyone. there's only this moment right this second#it really feels like you're fighting for your life in your own mind and it's all happening RIGHT NOW. not tomorrow. not next week.#so... this was the perfect time for me to be reminded that people do care and there WILL be a tomorrow#and sometimes i need a little bit of tough love#someone once told me that suicide is like multiplying your pain and handing it out to everyone you love. that has always stuck with me#so if i sound like i'm going too hard on asa (or too soft idk) it's only because i've been there#asks#anonymous#nonsims#brandi answers#suicide tw

calling it now people are going to ship Flipclaw and Podlight
#id ship it too honestly if it werent for Flipclaw and Feather already being so darn cute#also has anyone else realized that the chapters are like. filler filler filler we are just padding out things and making them longer to#fill space then BAM BIG DRAMATIC PLOT TO GET YOU HOOKED FOR THE NEXT BOOK!#like the fact that warriors has to stick to the whole 6 books per arc thing is what really kills them in my opinion#like there would be a lot less needless filler and it could focus on just telling the story instead of being like#'uh... how do we make this 3 book thing fit 6 books...? oh i know! more journey chapters!'#at least so far i feel like TBC and ASC have been better about it. like they actually go to new and fun places and do silly things#but cmon. didja really need to go on a journey rn. it also makes the drama in the clan feel less... impactful...#like ur telling me the clans just put their incoming war on pause for you?#also stop being afraid to kill the leaders you cowards#a leader/deputy should have died each book corresponding to the title#anyway i do like the set of villains for this arc#a starless clan#asc thunder#asc spoilers#podlight#flipclaw#warrior cats#warriors#warriors ocs

#story rambling incoming#tcoe#i’m restructuring what i plan to be act 2–roughly ch 8-21 though i’m sure the exact number will change#looking at the reverse outline of the scenes i currently have written i can see that its a mess#i have the climax at the end of act 2 be the resolution of the slave trade plotline that started the story#that’s the main plot the main climax#but then there’s nowhere for act 3 to go except for the resolution of the character-centric plotlines#and i’m wondering if i’ve actually structured this wrong#the slavering plotline climax maybe should be withheld until the beginning of act 3 once there’s been more resolution of the character plot#and then they’ll use those new viewpoints and friendships and beliefs to solve the slavering plot#which will then push maglor into his act 3 realizations and the denouement of his and others’ character arcs#okay maybe studying story structure IS a beneficial use of my time#the council of elessar#i know this is vague but if any of you writers/readers out there want to add thoughts and suggestions or want specific info let me know

Rambling about characters that will never meet.
So Qissh and Lahpp. I think these two have so much potential as opposite sides of the same coin.
Two men of roughly the same age, both fairly valued professionals in their respective work environments. Formal, efficient, extremely well-versed in the for them relevant social conventions. A corporate dream.
One of them raised in a respected family with ties to important political positions; the other one once a failed experiment tolerated as a ressource for further testing.
Qissh always wanted to get into politics. Couldn't wait to step into his uncle's footsteps and become part of the important grown ups. Contribute to making a change in the world. And he did just that. And the more time he spent around all these seemingly important people making seemingly important decisions, the more he saw the facade the council put up to hide the corruption and the lies and the never ending pointless discussions between people with too big egos.
He's a perfectly presentable well-adjusted man who just wants to break free of this environment of acted smiles that achieve nothing. The older he gets the more he finds himself exploring and wanting to act on the more rebellious streaks of his personality. And he does, he tries, but he knows he can't entirely escape his social obligations.
Lahpp was the opposite, though in a somewhat messy way. He grew up wanting to prove everyone around him wrong. Wanting to show the world that he is not destined to be what everyone told him he was – a stupid sick failure with no future.
He felt rebellious in his teenage years, but somewhere along the way figuratively tripped over his own feet and just ended up serving that exact environment he wanted to break out of. In a way he did still prove them wrong. But he also set himself up to a life without freedom or room for individuality. And the older he gets the more he loses himself to that perfectly presentable acted front he puts up.
I don't know what exactly I'm getting at here, I just think these two would have a lot of thoughts to share in a hypothetical scenario in which they got to talk.
#qissh becoming the leader of an eco-terrorist group arc incoming (just kidding but the thought is funny)#gw2 setting: so we have dragons and zombies and magic and#me writing characters: so what if their struggle was working a 9 to 5 job#maybe thats oversimplifying the situation a little but you know.#idk i guess i just like making characters that are 'just some dude' that could fit into about everyone's story as a background prop#all of this came up bc youtube recommended me a song#budgie plays gw2

Posts that make you wonder the minute details of how Peter Parker handles doing his taxes while maintaining his cover.
im only saying this once
the only acceptable jobs for spider-man
broke high schooler
broke college student
freelance photographer
high school teacher
unpaid intern
pizza delivery guy
research assistant for doomed scientific project
guy who stands on street and spins sign for quiznos
being spider-man
and thats IT i dont want any of this “hes a genius tech ceo making millions” SHIT. Spider-man is BROKE and he missed rent this month and he has a tiny apartment and thats how its MEANT TO BE. he doesnt make money because he is our Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-man and not fucking Tony Stark.
#if any modern spider-man remake doesn't have this as peter's main source of income then I ain't interested#there's an arc where some villain who used to be part of the IRS and he does the same ''I've discovered your secret identity'' bit#but not in a spying way or a blackmail way. They just got supervillain-ed on their way to do an audit#the arc ends with J. Jonah Jameson running a story on whether or not spider-man is a tax evader

Paper Mario: The X-travagant Files Update #1 [10/15/24]
Hey, people! DecimaDragonoid here! Thank you for showing your interest in my new Paper Mario askbox series, The X-travagant Files! I'm very happy that I was able to flesh out Xander, Min T., and Johnson and post some slice of life moments and ask responses I've prepared thus far!
At the moment, I'm currently preparing my very first story arc for the series! So I need to make a couple bullet points so you all can know what's going on! I will leave this update on my masterpost as well.
As of right now, the askbox is temporarily closed while I draw the first two pages. Asks will not be accepted at this time. Please check the pinned post here and see the posts I've made thus far so you may catch up to the story and have some laughs! I will reopen the askbox when the first two pages are finished.
I am going to assign some color codes so you guys will know when the askbox is open or closed or going through a major story arc. Here are some examples:
1.) Green - Askbox is open! Ask anything you'd like, so as long as it's appropriate! NSFW asks and comments will not be accepted.
2.) Red - Askbox is closed. Normally, this will mean that I'm preparing a story arc, I want to catch up with the asks I've already received, or I'm on break.
3.) Purple - The askbox is open, but only for asks related to a story arc or the current situation at hand. This is your chance to be a part of the story! Please wait for the story arc to begin before sending in your questions and comments. Also, please keep your asks and comments on topic.
This is pretty much the update I wanted to share with you. Once again, thank you so much for showing your interest in Paper Mario: The X-travagant Files! I hope you'll continue to join Xander, Min T., and Johnson on their upcoming adventures! Peace!
Best, DecimaDragonoid

How To Plan A Book Series: Ultimate Guide
Writing a book series can be an incredibly rewarding experience for authors, but it also requires careful planning and execution. A well-crafted book series can captivate readers, build a loyal fan base, and provide a steady stream of income for writers. However, planning a successful book series is no easy feat.
It demands a deep understanding of world-building, character development, and plot progression. In this ultimate guide, I'll help you explore the essential steps to help you plan a compelling and cohesive book series that will keep your readers hooked from start to finish.
Develop a Compelling Premise The foundation of any successful book series is a strong premise. Your premise should be unique, engaging, and have the potential to sustain multiple books. Consider exploring a complex world, a captivating concept, or a character with a rich backstory that can evolve over the course of several books. Ask yourself: What makes your premise stand out? What will keep readers invested in the story for multiple installments?
Create a Detailed Outline Before you dive into writing, it's crucial to create a detailed outline for your entire book series. This outline should include the overarching plot, major story arcs, character development, and key events for each book. Having a solid outline will help you maintain consistency, avoid plot holes, and ensure that each book contributes to the overall narrative. Don't be afraid to make adjustments as you write, but having a roadmap will keep you on track.
World-Building: Crafting a Vivid and Consistent Universe One of the hallmarks of a successful book series is a richly developed and immersive world. Whether you're creating a fantasy realm, a futuristic society, or a contemporary setting, pay close attention to world-building. Establish the rules, customs, histories, and geography of your fictional world. Consistency is key, so ensure that the details align across all books in the series. Consider creating a "bible" or a comprehensive guide that outlines the intricacies of your world, making it easier to maintain continuity.
Develop Compelling Characters Great characters are the heart and soul of any book series. Your protagonists, antagonists, and supporting characters should be well-rounded, multi-dimensional, and undergo significant growth and transformation throughout the series. Craft backstories, motivations, flaws, and strengths for each character, and ensure that their actions and decisions drive the plot forward. Remember, character development is an ongoing process, so be prepared to explore new facets of your characters as the series progresses.
Establish Recurring Themes and Motifs Themes and motifs are powerful tools that can add depth and resonance to your book series. Identify the central themes you want to explore, such as love, redemption, power, or identity. Weave these themes throughout the series, allowing them to evolve and deepen with each installment. Motifs, like recurring symbols or imagery, can also create a sense of cohesion and add layers of meaning to your narrative.
Plan for Cliffhangers and Resolutions One of the key strategies for keeping readers engaged in a book series is the strategic use of cliffhangers and resolutions. Cliffhangers create anticipation and leave readers craving for the next installment. However, be cautious not to overuse this technique, as it can become frustrating for readers. Balance cliffhangers with satisfying resolutions that tie up loose ends and provide a sense of closure, while still leaving room for the story to continue.
Consider Pacing and Narrative Structure Pacing and narrative structure are crucial elements to consider when planning a book series. Each book should have its own narrative arc, with a beginning, middle, and end, while also contributing to the overall story progression. Vary the pacing between books to maintain reader interest, alternating between action-packed and slower, more introspective sections. Experiment with different narrative structures, such as multiple perspectives, non-linear timelines, or frame narratives, to keep the series fresh and engaging.
Manage Continuity and Consistency As your book series grows, maintaining continuity and consistency becomes increasingly important. Keep detailed records of character descriptions, plot points, world-building elements, and timelines. Regularly refer back to these notes to ensure that you're not introducing contradictions or inconsistencies. Consider creating a series bible or a wiki to help you keep track of all the moving parts.
Plan for Character Growth and Evolution In a book series, characters should undergo significant growth and evolution. Plan for character arcs that span multiple books, allowing your protagonists and supporting characters to face challenges, make difficult choices, and emerge as changed individuals. This character development will not only add depth to your narrative but also keep readers invested in the journey of your characters.
Anticipate and Address Potential Plot Holes As your book series expands, the potential for plot holes and inconsistencies increases. Be vigilant in identifying and addressing these issues during the planning stage. Regularly review your outline and notes, looking for any logical gaps or contradictions. Enlist the help of beta readers or critique partners to provide fresh perspectives and catch any potential plot holes you may have missed.
Consider the Overarching Story Arc While each book in your series should have its own narrative arc, it's essential to plan for an overarching story arc that spans the entire series. This overarching arc should tie together the individual books, building towards a climactic conclusion that resolves the central conflict or mystery. Ensure that each book contributes to this larger narrative, advancing the plot and raising the stakes for the characters.
Plan for Marketing and Promotion Finally, as you plan your book series, don't overlook the importance of marketing and promotion. Develop a strategy for building buzz and engaging with your audience throughout the release of each book. Leverage social media, author events, book tours, and other promotional opportunities to keep your readers excited and invested in your series.
Remember, writing a book series is a marathon, not a sprint, so be prepared to invest time, effort, and dedication into crafting a truly remarkable literary journey. Hope this helped!
Happy Writing - Rin T.

had been thinking about seeing the new Ant-Man when it came out, ya know, on one of the discount days bc movie tickets are pricey these days. I mean, it looked right up my alley; alternate dimensions, timeline fuckery, cool visuals, Jonathan Majors ripped as hell. Buuuuut I saw some spoilers, some shitty cellphone footage, read some reviews, ended up caving and reading the plot online… so anyway, I decided to spend that money on a jug of soy sauce and bag of jalapeños, and I think that’s a fair alternative.
#I go through a buttload of soy sauce and jalapeños#they just go with everything!#also no Marvel hate at me on this post#just let me enjoy my visual junk food#is it so bad to want to see Paul Rudd towering before me on a giant screen???#anyway… yeah… it looked really interesting to me. much more so than any of the recent Marvel movies.#I love science fiction with alternate dimensions and time stuff#buuuut… I guess I couldn’t really expect Marvel to actually do anything too exciting with those concepts#but hey! it might actually be good when I finally see it!#I just don’t have much of a disposable income and I think I’d rather spend that cash on foodstuff I know I’ll enjoy#and I’d rather not spend money on going out if I’m this ambivilant on it#critic’s reviews are mid. viewer reviews are completely unreliable to me#marvel fans will either give super positive reviews just bc it’s marvel#or they’ll tank their reviews for the dumbest reasons. like saying it’s too woke bc black Kang#fickle as cats and just as reliable#ALSO I saw tweets saying stuff like ‘oh it’s the beginning of a new phase so it’s a little rough and not that great but give them a break!#my buddy my friend they have churned out so many of these films by now#’new phase’ means nothing! they should know how to tell a good story!#and why can’t the start of a new story arc be good? you can have a good story that sets things up for the future#you butts. you fools.#I was honestly so hyped to see Kang fuck shit up 😕#and I actually really like the Ant-Man movies#I just haven’t really been into any of the Marvel movies after Endgame#okay but again… I haven’t seen it. just read the plot and some reviews.#don’t listen to me. I’m just ranting.#I wanted something really weird and cool with characters dying or whatever I dunno… I’m grumpy about it#but I made some fried rice. it’s good. I got some jalapeño in my eye. that’s not so good.#I hope no one actually wasted their time reading through these tags. I’m sorry if you did#you can ignore this#text

This would have been great.....
But we got the Timeless Child storyline instead 🤬 It's not too late to blame the Vallyard and drag them for altering the Matrix.
I will always hate it, and I 💯 ship that hot mess (Doctor x Master).

How To Talk About Given As A Piece On Housing Precarity And Poverty And Not Sound Like A Mad Person
#institutionalize me if you will. there’s so much interesting stuff going on in akihiko’s storyline that I think is well-done#except for the total tonal dissonance with the first arc and the fact that It Is Like That#a story about a person with limited income who becomes dependent on an unhealthy relationship for financial and housing security#slash a story about a homeless person who doesn’t fit the idea of homelessness is something you do not see a lot.#it’s a common phenomenon in the world very rarely explored in fiction#and you wouldn’t expect the Edgy arc of a romance series to go into as much detail as it does with that economic reality#now if only it didn’t have the fuckin whiplash of cutting to the rest of the series#to clarify I like the arc in isolation but the way it’s done as a romance skeeves me out#kelsey liveblogs manga
