Haylee is Obi-Wan and Kaden's biological child. She is 5 years old.

The soft clink of ceramic and the rustle of pages were the only sounds in the quiet tatooine home. Kaden sat at the kitchen table, book in one hand, a cup of tea cooling beside them. Haylee sat across from them, swinging her legs idly as she popped a piece of fruit into her mouth. Obi-Wan stood nearby, nursing his own cup of tea.

Everything was peaceful until Haylee, mid-chew, suddenly blurted out, “Daddy, when are you marrying Mommy?”

Obi-Wan inhaled sharply. And choked.

His tea went down the wrong way, and he coughed violently, trying to regain composure. Kaden, wide-eyed, slowly lowered their book, their face instantly heating as they gawked at Haylee.

Oblivious to the chaos she had just unleashed, Haylee continued “Mira said that usually people get married before they have a baby. I was born, but you’re not married.”

Obi-Wan cleared his throat, carefully setting his tea aside before crouching to Haylee’s level. His voice still a little rough from coughing. “There’s no right or wrong way to be a family, little one. Some people marry before having children, some after, and some don’t marry at all. What matters is the love they share.”

Haylee considered this, nodding sagely as if she were the one imparting wisdom.

Meanwhile, Kaden pressed their lips together, their entire body shaking with barely contained laughter. They snapped their book shut and stood abruptly. “I—I need to go… check on something...” they announced, voice tight with amusement as they hurriedly left the room before they completely lost it.

Obi-Wan watched them go, a small knowing smirk playing at his lips before he turned back to Haylee. He leaned in slightly, his voice a conspiratorial whisper but his eyes shined with excitement.

“Can you keep a secret, starshine?”

Haylee’s green eyes sparkled as she nodded eagerly, her wavy ginger hair bouncing as she grinned.

Obi-Wan smiled, brushing a stray strand behind her ear, and with quiet certainty, he began to tell her something, something that made her squeal softly in delight, clapping her hands together.

"Shh~"

Haylee covered her mouth trying to contain the giggles and smile.

Moments later, Kaden returned, brows raised as they eyed their daughter, hearing her barely-contained giggles. “Alright… what’s so funny?”

Obi-Wan and Haylee locked eyes for the briefest second before turning to Kaden in perfect unison, their smiles identical.

“Nothing~” they chimed together, their voices almost too innocent.

They exchanged another glance before laughing, clearly enjoying whatever shared secret they had just created.

Kaden squinted at them suspiciously but couldn’t help the amused smile tugging at their lips. Shaking their head, they grabbed their book, took a seat, and flipped it open once more.

“Okay,” they mused, glancing at them over the pages, “but I know secrecy when I see it~”

"It's a good secret mommy, we promise!"

Going down comfort video-game lane, returning to Starbound and staring a new modded file for Effie! Instead of her starlight white, she's more of a sunny colored Novakid with accents of blue. (Color variation from the Vibrant Novakids mod)

But she's still your adventuring southern belle with a whole bunch of voice logs on her SAIL!

I'm still rather early came in her file, but she's gotten one Fenerox companion named Bex and completed the intro quest for Captain Noble.

MCD Scifi AU Game Quests! (Part 1)

Given how my scifi au is partially based on video games such as Mass Effect and Starbound (my beloved), I feel that it is only right to add quests and side quests. A way for me to write out the plot in a fun ways. (PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR OPINIONS AND IF YOU LIKE I'LL MAKE MORE!)

Main Quest - Molded to Perfection

The S.S. Phoenix Drop are now transporting top researchers of THE RED (otherwise known as the Shadow Knight infection) to what is believed to be its origin planet. Or, they thought they were escorting living researchers when in reality they are escorting the robot drones of Kenmur and Emmalyn, who are piloting them a galaxy away.

They have to protect these million of drones as they navigate the thick red mushroom jungle of planet NETH-35, also known as the Nether planet. This quest will feature the group killing mass amounts of Shadow Knights (The pitch black and blood red zombies) and mold chimeras (the hobbled together pieces of organisms) with few rests in ruins where it will reveal the history of the planet and the start of the infection. It will end with a boss fight of a SHADOW LORD aka a mega chimera. Classic alien boss battle.

Optional Side Quest - May Sparks Fly

After this quest, Kenmur and Emmalyn become semi permanent on the ship and their bots are now possible companions when needing to research. That being said, the crew finds out that they are rather smitten with each other and try to set up a virtual date between the two. it will also provide an exploration of Laurance's past as he and Kenmur grew up together.

Main Quest - Bionic Where Arth Thou

This is an overarching story plot that gets picked up throughout the story. Essentially, the S.S. Phoenix Drop is going to have constant back an forth between Zane and Garroth where Zane sends men to apprehend Garroth and is thus defeated. This will range from traps set by Zane under the pretense of delivery missions, false distress signals, and Zane's personal favorite, kidnapping random crew members.

In retaliation, the S.S. Pohenix Drop will also have plenty of missions involving breaking into various labs associatted with Shield Foundation (it will probably be renamed ngl) to halt Zanes plans of creating Shadow Husks (Zombie-Cyborg Mutants) and various acts of sabotage. This will have plenty of boss battles ranging from battles against Super Cyborg Husks, entire spaceships, members of Zanes special task force The Jury, and even Zane himself in super bionic suits and amped up holograms.

Mandatory Side Quest - Painful Jury Duty

The group receives a plea message coming from Jeffory the Golden Heart, a title he received due to his species golden blood. He requests the aid of Katelyn as his daughter has been kidnapped and he cannot help due to being under Zanes control. The team exports a rescue mission as we find out what its like to be under Zanes thumb from Katelyn. Who was literally mind controlled by Zane via cybernetic chips.

The team does manage to rescue Abby, only to find out that the entire thing is a trap laid by Zane and the Abby that they saved is actually a robot copy. Only to find out that Abby is safely somewhere else but Zane had broken down Jeffory and manipulated him into beliving his daughter is in danger and the only way to ensure her safety is to kill the S.S. Phoenix Drop crew and capture Garroth. Boss music plays and Katelyn manages to get through to Jeffory but its too late as the cybernetic corruption has destroyed his body and she has to mercy kill him through his golden heart. Well, mostly kill as he is revived and put into stasis.

Side Quest - The Golden Rules

After breaking a Zane lab and sifting through information, Zoey finds a way to heal Jeffory and reunite him with his daughter. The crew has to break into one of Zanes cloning labs and steal even more files and then restore one of his old labs (that they cleared out earlier) and use the available technology to heal Jeffory. He will be permanently missing his left arm and eye and no longer be able to have cybernetic implants due to the high increased chance of rejection, but he will be reunited with his daughter, Abby who thanks her Aunt Katelyn.

I needed to balance it out y'all.

"I hope you know what you're doing." Marcy leaned on her elbows, watching as Isobu poked at the simmering red ooze.

"I don't." Isobu flicked a hand at the tablet beside him. "But this internet guy's got it. Lookit this recipe." He tapped the screen and made the text light up. "He's got all the science out so it makes sense." 

Marcy leaned in further to see it better. Sure enough, she recognized those equations. "Oh, that's neat. Nyota would love to see this." 

"She would, huh?" Isobu chuckled and prodded the mixture some more. "You're right. I'll show her when I'm done here." 

A few months ago, Marcy could never have imagined herself standing in the kitchen with a strange novakid, watching him cook jam. Funny how times changed. 

Isobu smirked at her. "Starin' off into space again? What's goin' between those ears?"

Marcy dropped the mature act for a moment and stuck her tongue out at him. "You have fruit on your nose." 

Isobu chuckled, shaking his head. "Nice try, but ya can't fool me that easy. I ain't got a nose." 

"Okay, on your brand then. It's going to char up and smell awful if you don't get it off." 

The smirk dropped. "Ah, dammit." 

"How did you not notice?" She asked as he scrubbed it off with the back of his hand. "Isn't that your brain or something?" 

Isobu made a displeased noise like an old-time radio whine."Look, mini, I got lots on my mind, see?" 

"Right…" It was Marcy's turn to smirk as he pulled the saucepan off the heat. The simmering ooze reminded her of something. "Oh, hey. I just had an idea." 

That caught his interest and earned her a curious whistle. "Alright, shoot. You're the smart one here." 

Marcy swatted one of his feathery 'ears.' "Don't start with that, you're plenty clever. But if you just give her the jam, she's going to appall Dad again." 

"How would she- oh." He hissed out a sigh. "Tarnation, I plumb forgot she drinks the damn stuff straight from the jar like it's some kinda Kool-Aid…" 

"How do you even know what Kool-Aid is? Actually no, don't answer that. I do not want to know." 

Isobu chuckled and tried to ruffle her wiry hair. "Right-o, lil' missie. So what's this idea? Don't want your dad poppin' a sprocket." 

Marcy patted his shoulder. "Just keep making the jam and leave this part to me." She ducked down into the drawers and started fishing out what she would need: flour, sugar, a cookie sheet...

Isobu watched her and shook his head. "....right-o. It's real suspicious when ya get like that. Ya know that, right?" 

"Of course." Marcy glanced up long enough to wink at him. "Relax. Mom and I did this all the time when I was a kid. Get the cooling rack, we will need it."

Isobu laughed and obliged. "Ain't it nice havin' someone tall?" 

"Oh hush. Now here's what we do. They're called thumbprint cookies. She'll love it, and Dad won't flip his lid." 

"Win-win." Isobu nodded, approving. "Not bad. What's the catch?" 

Marcy flicked his ear again. "The catch, featherboy, is you aren't allowed to eat any until she gets back."

Little Blocks that Matter

Do I understand how to decorate? Of course not.

The amount of dedication that some Starbound and Terraria users put out is staggering. Huge murals of pixel art scenes and giant castles. I can't wrap my head around all this creativity that people can do. It's a stellar outlet for expression and there have been a few good attempts to recapture this specific genre's ability to do just that.

Unfortunately we've moved past that era, and while I think the genre of block and pixel games are at it's end. There had been three large representatives in this odd war, each bringing with it's own flavor to the game.

Minecraft is of course the heavy hitter of the three. Backed by Microsoft's almost unlimited resources and influence, it's grown to become one of the most influential games of the past decade, selling millions of copies across the globe, spawning a host of YouTube personalities and a gigantic modding community, it's the beast that cannot be stopped at this time.

It's bringing familiar franchises under it's boughs now. Sonic recently joined the fray, seemingly turning the game into a blocky "Sonic Adventure" type game with various secrets, ring collection, and a strong attention to detail with little emotes your frilled companions can do. But they've done the same treatment with turning minecraft into Tattooine, letting you go on a Jedi-flavored adventure. Adventure time also got it's time to shine with various swords and odd magic.

The Teknik pack is also a trip and a half, adding industrialization to the game, turning mining into a complex chain of tubes and belts and powerplants. Modders have added weapon production, guns, magic, rituals, and some of the more creative designs to monsters, like the "Parasite Invasion" mod that added Thing flavored monsters and mutations to the world, turning entire biomes into terrifying alien landscapes.

Terraria was launched around the same time as Minecraft, and, unlike Minecraft, felt like the full experience. Boss monsters, tiered progression, a very vague semblance of story where the forces of nature and the supernatural were at odds, eventually culminating in the complete destruction of the environment as you stop a stellar plot and destroy a cosmic god.

Modding had added the Calamity add-on, which expanded progression and boss fights to white-knuckle level difficulty and a jamming, custom made OST that has you vibrating in your seat while you use a wand to obliterate leviathans and end the world.

Then you have what I'd call the 'red headed stepchild' of the Genre, Starbound.

Starbound is a bit of an odd representation of the series. It took blocks and pixels to space where you interact with penguin mercenaries, explore multiple planets, and build your character using racial armor and weapon tiers that add flavor to your bird or ape or what have you. Every race gets their own ship type with unique room placement and aesthetic. I have a special love for the Avians, who's ships are giant pyramids powered by some central crystal.

It had rather incredible storytelling and lore depth despite being procedurally generated. Earth was destroyed by a galactic monster, Avians fight to earn their wings and escape their all-knowing god. Apes are working to break their bonds from an oppressive regime of a 'great ape' that really brings to mind a Orwellian nightmare personified by hyper intelligent monkeys.

Modding wasn't as prevalent in Starbound as the other two games, but it spawned one of the most recognizable furry species in culture now; Avali. Little feathered raptors that drink ammonia and love frozen worlds. They're lovely! Wonderful little creatures! Super cute and now we can see them in VR Chat and Second Life, etc.

But now it's been several years and while these games have dedicated communities and their own followers, I ask "what's next?"

And unfortunately I don't think I have the answer to that.

Terraria's development had stopped and their sequel has been cancelled for the immediate future. Minecraft is still the top dog on the market, and Starbound is finished, so far as we can tell.

The time of the block-builder is over. We're looking at farming simulators, pirates, and more MMOs to count. It's a sad realization but we're still enjoying our time in these little slivers of programming where some mad lad with glass and dirt builds a diorama of the first level from Mario and complex cities rise from grass.

Who knows though. Chucklefish is still putting out new games all the time and I'm lowkey crossing my fingers for some new developer to remember most of us still love playing with legos.

Vynera - Shaymin - Gratitude Pokémon - Grass type/Grass and Flying type

The flowers all over its body burst into bloom if it is lovingly hugged and senses gratitude.

It can dissolve toxins in the air to instantly transform ruined land into a lush field of flowers.

Not only is a Shaymin normally nice, always willing for a good hug, and cute, but she eventually gets to grow flowers of her own just with a single power, purify a toxic environment, but with a special item, gets a greater form which allows her flight. I am pretty sure perfect for Vynera. Also, Shaymin is a Legendary pokemon

Kal-Sar -  Pangoro - Daunting Pokemon - Dark and Fighting type.

Although it possesses a violent temperament, it won’t put up with bullying. It uses the leaf in its mouth to sense the movements of its enemies.

From the slight twitches of its bamboo leaf, it deduces its opponent’s movements. It’s eager to tussle but kindhearted toward its companions.

This rowdy Pokémon boasts great physical strength. Many Trainers are also smitten by its lively character.

I mean, not only is the colour on point, but other than a violent temperament (Which honestly after whole The Exodus, he probably has a bit more of), He pretty much screams Kal-Sar to me. Also: he looks like a grump
