You know, it’s a shame we got the Picard S3 we did and not a season-long Mamma Mia situation where Bev keeps belting out disco numbers with Troi and Guinan while Jack Crusher sends out wedding invitations to his three possible dads, Picard, Riker, and…I don’t know, Data or something

It just occurred to me that nobody actually watches Picard anymore, so I can just say whatever I want and you’ll never know what’s true and what isn’t. Here’s what happened episode 1:
As predicted, Beverly Crusher is played by Brent Spiner
She has a son with Picard
The son is also played by Brent Spiner
Riker is cheating on Deanna with Picard
Geordi’s daughter is a pilot (unclear if she’s blind too)
Lore has taken up hunting as a hobby
Seven of nine joined starfleet and immediately committed mutiny
Elnor helped
They made no mention of the giant plot twist from last season
Everyone hates the enterprise-d
Data came back and did karaoke
He sang Killer Queen
Yes, he did wear the moustache

"Five times. Five times Jean-Luc and the shrieking, petulant Dr. Beverly Crusher tried to make it work between them. FIVE TIMES! And each attempt another pathetic failure...Why does Jean-Luc do this to himself? To US?"
Tumblr media
"Why her and not me? I know everything, and yet, even I can't understand it."
"Know thyself, Jean-Luc.
Know me."

Star Trek series I perceive as having similar impact poll round 2:
TAS vs PIC
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I paired these two because they're the on-screen spinoffs of TOS and TNG that seem to get the least love. I haven't seen much of Picard, but it comes dead last in every poll I've ever seen, and as much as I love TAS it's usually not even on those polls in the first place.

The Roddenberry Archive
Original Release: 2023
Developer: The Roddenberry Estate, OTOY
Publisher: The Roddenberry Estate
Platform: Browser
Tumblr media
The ultimate bridge explorer is finally here. The Roddenberry Archives brings up digital recreations of a ton of Enterprise bridges, including concept bridges brought to life. The website provides a lot of information about the various different version of the Enterprise, and what the digital recreation of the bridge is based on.
All of these bridges can be explored in full 3D. It uses cloud technology so that you get the full detail no matter what PC you’re running (although it does have to be a desktop with Chromium browser) and can walk around, interact with some objects, sit down in chairs or turn on a fly camera. With the vast amount of detail, it’s a phenomenal experience and it’s amazing to look at the bridges in detail.
Tumblr media
It starts off with a concept bridge: the XCV-330, the ring ship Enterprise seen in pictures in films and in Enterprise. It uses an early concept for the original Enterprise, with a round holographic table and a science room above it before moving on to the NX-01, which I loved seeing in closer detail, even finding doors I never knew were there.
Then onto the NCC-1701, which gets by far the most love. It has versions of the bridge starting with a concept bridge from early production then showing us the set from The Cage, Discovery, Strange New Worlds, the TOS pilot, TOS Season 1, TOS Season 2, Mirror Universe, TOS Season 3, a live action version of the bridge from The Animated Series, the bridge from the cancelled Phase II show, The Motion Picture, Wrath of Khan and two versions of the Kelvin version bridge, each one showing different versions of the bridge.
Tumblr media
Then we get a look at a recreation of a wild concept for a cancelled film called Planet of the Titans, which featured a redesigned Enterprise from Ralph McQuarrie, which ended up inspiring the USS Discovery. It’s a lovely bridge, but not very practical.
From there we see the Enterprise A, B, C, D and E (with the D having multiple extra rooms), all looking absolutely stunning, but it doesn’t end there. It’s fully up to date with the bridges of the Enterprise F and brand new Enterprise G, which looks absolutely glorious. It ends the Enterprises with a new version of the Enterprise J featuring a see-through hull with visible cities, parks and water inside.
But it doesn’t end there, there’s a bonus Voyager bridge, with more to come in the future – hopefully we see the rest of the hero ships as well as other locations on ships, and some non-hero ships as well as alien bridges.
I look forward to the future updates of this software.

There's a couple of things that really annoy me about the Titan-A getting renamed to be the Enterprise-G.
One is that it would have been fine for it to remain the Titan. The fact it had a letter after its registry was an admission that everyone was onboard with this ship having a strong legacy. Saving the Federation only should have guaranteed that there was eventually going to be a Titan-B, not that they now had to go and rename this ship.
The other is that it would have been fine for the Enterprise-E to still be in service. The Enterprise-E was commissioned in 2372, so it would have been just under thirty years old at around the time of Picard's third season. This wouldn't have been too old to still be in service: Kirk's Enterprise had been in service for forty when it was destroyed. Plus, given how often the Enterprise-E was refitted (it seemed to be after each TNG movie), I think Starfleet would have been reluctant to give it an early decommissioning after investing so many resources into keeping it going.
Yes, they did include a line about Worf being in command of it when it was destroyed. However, I disagree with that narrative choice, too.
As much as Worf's entire vibe is that he's occasionally prone to making very Klingon-style choices that don't always sit well with Starfleet's higher ups, there's always a lot of mitigating circumstances involved. I think a lot of his arc involve him maturing to become someone who doesn't act as rashly and by the end of DS9, most of his big decisions tend to be very considered ones, not the rash ones he might have made as a younger man.
Because of that, I don't think he'd willingly get himself into a position where the ship became unusable or destroyed. I think having that line weakens his character and ignores a lot of his character development when they weren't willing to go into detail about what actually happened.
While there probably would have been fans complaining that they hadn't introduced a new Enterprise for the new show, I think that would have been mostly fine. Most people would get that it'd be weird for a ship that young to be out of service after only thirty years anyway.
Plus, I feel like it also cheapens having the Enterprise-F introduced as well. Yeah sure, it's an Odyssey-class and they'd been included in beta canon before that so might not feel as special to some people because it's not a new design specifically for the show, but they always could have made it some other class. Nobody had a gun pointed at the production team to force them to include this class.
I'm not entirely convinced they couldn't have repaired the Enterprise-F, either. Like, it's basically brand new at that point; surely they could have done something with it.
Ultimately, I just feel like having the Titan-A renamed to be the Enterprise-G just feels silly and pointless.
