Disney SW fans who claim to love Anakin but think the Prequels suck, you're part of the problem. And the OT purists who hate the Prequels and then turn around and blame them for why Disney SW sucks...yeah, you're part of the problem too.

One of the many reasons the Disney SW 'Sequels' were so terrible and destructive was because the people making them decided to completely ignore the importance of the Prequels and reject them as an intrinsic part of the saga. And they seemed to believe they were pandering to 'what the fans wanted' by doing this. But the Prequels are half the entire story as Lucas told it, and they just threw it out the window. The Prequels COMPLETED the saga. But Disney pretended that the saga wasn't complete yet and that it was up to them to do so. Instead of just making 'interquel' material from the beginning (like Rogue One, etc), they arrogantly took it upon themselves to 'finish' a story that was already completed back in 2005. And in doing so, Disney also decided to reframe the saga into something decidedly lesser (a repetitive grimdark story where the cycle 'wasn't broken ackshually', instead of an uplifting and transcendent mythic fairytale), but one which would allow them to continue making 'new canon' material indefinitely (cause that is more lucrative for them). But the Prequels had already reframed the saga and given it a very specific meaning. Without the Prequels, ALL of Star Wars loses that meaning. And without a happy ending for the OT characters and an unequivocally positive resolution to the their storyline, the entire saga is rendered into a perpetual tragedy. So, unless and until so-called 'Star Wars fans' can acknowledge and embrace just how intrinsic the Prequels are to the fictional story they supposedly 'like', they will be running around in circles trying to blame Disney's failures on the very thing that Disney so carelessly ignored and discarded in the first place.

As I continue to spend more time in this fandom, I am grateful that the producers have chosen to deviate from its source material. F&B historians take a morbid pleasure in scrutinizing a woman's worth - a discourse that unfortunately continues in these social spaces.

The way some y’all expect Rhaenyra or Alicent to just “forgo” their rank, title or ambition is quite honestly bizarre. Both women are rightfully worried about their children.. and in the end, both lost! I hate how this entire discourse around F&B is framed as pro-Rhaenyra when it is anything but that. F&B is pro-Daemon or any man who sided with Team Black - but it is objectively anti-Rhaenyra. Everyone talks about her line winning but at what cost? Her descendants exclusively blame her for the extinction of their dragons - and not a single descendant carried her name thereafter. Her surviving lineage brands her as a traitor and that same line went extinct mainly because of the Dance.

In contrast, hotd gives her a noble motive (of Aegon’s dream) along with her own succession battle for the crown in a series that is meant as a critique against misogyny and absolute monarchy. The entire point of the Dance is how a once great House eroded itself to the ground and yet these stans online will factionalise themselves into arguing who won. Everyone lost, period! Her line survived and yet she is dishonoured by them. Of the last 3 surviving Targaryens, one would prefer to be known as the northern bastard over his Targaryen name, and the other would likely identify himself with the Martell Legacy. So what legacy or lineage are you exactly talking about? The show intentionally puts focus on Corlys’ line about how names matter more than blood.. and yet y’all squabble over whose genetic lineage lived to ride this House into infamy in Westeros.

Marvel really dropped the ball with Chris and Seb. Homophobia aside, you have these really talented actors with great chemistry and interesting characters - and you do almost nothing with them? There's so much potential with Steve and Bucky. They could've done a period piece that has the boys growing up together, a Jason Bourne type movie with Bucky after he pulls Steve from the river, a really dark movie about Hydra turning Bucky into the winter soldier (have you seen those posts about Robert Redford looking like Chris when he was younger? They had the perfect opportunity to have Chris play young Alexander Pierce) or even a movie about them travelling the world together and recovering from their traumas after civil war. Why are the creators at Marvel so stupid?

Excellent question, my love! I personally would watch a thousand movies with Chris and Sebastian, and I very much agree about the Steve and Bucky potential, that goes without saying! I honestly would've been happy with just one more movie with the two of them that didn't completely screw up and/or negate their relationship like EG did, but apparently that was too much to ask after CW (or arguably after TWS) 😒 Such a shame about the chemistry, that's absolutely true!

One thing I love about the whole Stan and Ford dynamic when it comes to Bill is that of course Ford would fall hook, line, and sinker for Bill’s whole schtick. Dude bases his entire self worth on outside praise. He simultaneously believes he’s a gift to science AND that he’s a freak. And he’s bitter. He can’t let go of the idea that he’s owed something more. He needs people to tell him he’s smart and clever just so he can believe he deserves to exist. He doesn’t think he’s any good for anything else. He’s so in denial, isolated, and clumsy at forming interpersonal relationships that in the weeks before he met Bill he probably would have pack-bonded with a literal can of worms. So when Bill comes along going, “Of course you’re a genius, of course you’re important, that’s why I picked you to help me; come on, lemme help you talk to people, lemme calm that anxiety of yours,” Ford crumbles with no resistance whatsoever.

Stan, though—if Ford was brought up to tie his worth to others to how well he performed, Stan was brought up to believe he had no worth to anyone else at all. He’s just as much of a social misfit, he’s got the same crippling insecurity and that same bitterness about how life turned out but in spades, but he doesn’t have any ego to counterbalance it. He doesn’t see how he can ever be worth something to anyone else; someone trying to butter him up with flattery would never work. What he has instead of an ego is a degree of world-weary cynicism and enough insight into how people work to be a good conman. He’s incredibly sharp, and despite his insecurity everywhere else he’s got this weird degree of confidence in being a sleazy grifter. He’s good at it, and he knows it, and Bill would get two seconds into his schtick before Stan would uno reverse the whole thing and start scamming him right back.
