Started to commemorate a trip back to California. I mean to finish it while staying at beantofx's house but I ended up finishing it when I got back to Georgia. The ivyhollivana featuring credit comes from a LINE voice message she sent to the ecchiparty group chat after a conversation with shoujoeyesmusic about real marriages with fictional characters (to save you the hassel of delving through that bullshit that's probably only funny to us)

CUT PAST THE GROOVE

Original Module: atmosphere break.xrns

Originally written for mechayuri's CHAO GARDEN comp, tweaked and properly mixed for the album. Very much influenced by the Experience-era Prodigy and Jun Chikuma's soundtrack for Bomberman Hero. This is the first full track made under CND9 and really the first melodic thing I wrote, which I'm still very grateful for.

So the story about this particular Ivy sample I CAN deliberate on without going on and on. So Ivy's twitter handle is @ivy_hollivana but there is a @ivyhollivana and she did own it but somehow her account got hijacked, probably by an app she gave her Twitter credentials to. One day I discovered it and started joking about it. Ivy started making escalating rewards for rehacking her twitter account leading to the amazing quote "I will eat your ass if you hack t-"

This stupid thing was originally written as a DJ tool with just the Smash Mouth sample and didn't have the Public Enemy or KoRn sample. This written over a couple months and has a FM lead that's too catch for its own good god DAMN Fun fact: for the longest time this was just named SOMEBODY.WAV

PLAYGROUND RENAISSANCE

Original Module: TRAINWRECK.xrns

Originally written for The Worst Compilation by The Worst Label, remastered and given a slight EQ touchup for the album. fatdoggy wrote the name for this one after me begging for someone to make a fucking name for this.

I really wanted to go for the dirty, muddy sound and unorthodox production of a lot of lolicore (which this is definitely not because honestly lolicore is a pretty iffy genre name for something that could just be called dancecore)

To that end, the mix for this is almost objectively awful. The piano overpowers everything, the speedcore drums are mainly in amen snares, the Ace of Bass sample is ear-wrenching. Yo, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ok, now go buy a god damn CD of this.

The Year of Synthia | 2014 Year in Review

Firstly, thank you everyone for supporting me this year. This was the first year I sat down and became the least bit serious about music. This wasn't me stepping up to the plate and engaging in self-improvement. If it weren't for the friends I met this year I know I'd be in a very different place. So thank you thom, Jaci, MIke, Casey, Camm, Tomo, Jackson, Dylan, Guy Akimoto, Terboh, Aaron, Tyler, Devin, Ivy, Maxo, dozens of others who I would be nothing without. You made this year happen.

Alright here's the highlights in chronological order:

The first big CND9 track ever, made for mechayuri's big ass comp CHAO GARDEN. I took a lot of inspiration from Jun Chikuma (Bomberman Hero), Sampling Masters (specifically sampling Ridge Racer), The Prodigy (Experience Era), Hideki Naganuma (Jet Set Radio), and others. Still probably needs a better mixing job in the future.

Since I completely bailed on continuing the Untitled Recordings series this Halloween, this is the only taste of Pulse-Amplitude that made it out this year. Took influences from sci, Adam Freeland, and now that I think of, I took a lot of subconcious cues from Brother Android, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out a unique spin on the hypnotic trance-chip original and came across a chillnoise angle after falling in love with IRC's melody. The most drowzy and noisest track I put out this year. Get it on venosci's Picopop & Pocky here.

Still the mixtape I'm proudest of. Split into two parts, and made for mechayuri (see a trend?), Endless Childhood is a turbulent ride through the shit I grew up with and am still growing up with; everything from Scatman John to Perfume to Bill Eager to KoRn. Everything in this mix made me cry or laugh. Or both. I still have four handmade tapes available for sale here.

The first CND9 album ever, made as a split with close friend daemon who also mixed the album. Inspired by cheesy b-flicks and gruesome videogames alike (read: Splatterhouse Splatterhouse Splatterhouse), I endeavored to put out killer cuts of Chicago House, footwork, trap and breakcore with a hardcore spin on them. There's absolutely no pretense involved here, EDM is dumb is hell and I wouldn't have it any other way so this mixtape featuring my favorite EDM tracks is similarly really really stupid and energetically fun. This mixtape was done for Tess/MelIRL/Olive Reese's promo label Sunrise 101.1 and is endorsed by circuitfry. Maybe.

Dumb, fun and earwormy as hell. This speedcore track was featured on The Worst Label's The Worst Compilation and is the end result of a month of experimentation with breakcore and hardcore. Though this is still strictly within dancecore/happy speedcore, I took a lot of cues from the dirty production techniques of the likes of maedasalt, Goreshit, RIajuu, and other buddies in lolicore (change that genre name guys for real).

Alright, 2014's been real. Next: A full length debut, a big maxi single, Untitled Recordings Vol. 2 for real this time, maybe an ATRAC album? That's all I know in relatively definite terms and the best thing about 2014 was that I was flying by the seat of my pants, completely unaware of where I was going next.

Hey guys, a new ep full of experimental tracks is out, I hope yall find it at the very least interesting. Some of you might be wondering this is coming to bandcamp NOW after more than a month of being on Soundcloud.

I actually spent quite a chunk of time running after labels to release this. I got rejected by theterboh for Amblis Records halfway through production but he did end up giving me the push to expand on Stahl-2612 and make it actually fun to listen to. I also sent this to shisa for Hope Sick Cola but after a month... nothing. Also that terrible plagiarism thing happened, and I realized yeah... not this time buddy.

I still wanted this release to be special so I wrote a small poem about what I felt writing some of these tracks, especially the nanoloop jams. sad-weeb helped me out tons on putting the final touches on it, thank you! There's also a short essay about how I lived in the second grade that may or may not be interesting/a stupid fluff piece I should've just hid in my blog.

Regardless, this dumb thing is out. I'm ready to move on.
