Eid al-Fitr - which means "festival of the breaking of the fast" - is celebrated at the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting for many adults, as well as spiritual reflection and prayer.

I created this blog to hopefully motivate me to start writing again. Whether that be short stories, journaling, or something new to me like headcanons or fanfiction—I want to tap into my creativity again.

Financial matters will also be hidden/unclear this year, i might have income from sources that are not immediately visible, ex: passive income/inheritances/secret investments/people secretly sending me money

My own experience: i just started using tumblr daily to find my people who have similar interests as me and goals similar to mines. my daily routines have also changed a lot since ive been involved in the astro community.

When I say "Victor Hugo's depiction of Jean Valjean's grief over losing Cosette is a reflection of Hugo's own grief at the death of his daughter" I'm not just theorizing-- some lines from Les Mis are basically just ripped word-for-word from Hugo's poems about the death of his daughter. Here are a few of them. Leopoldine drowned horribly with her husband only a few months after they were married; she was only nineteen. Jean Valjean's paralyzing fear of Cosette's marriage, his misguided useless rage at her husband, and his violent grief over losing her and never being able to see her again, is heavily influenced by Hugo's own grief. I have trouble finding good English translations of some of Hugo’s Leopoldine poems online, and would appreciate better links to English translations if anyone has them. But In A Villequier, one of Hugo's poems addressing God with furious grief over the death of Leopoldine, he writes:

Consider again how I have, since dawn, Worked, fought, thought, walked, struggled, Explaining Nature to Man who knew nothing of it, Lighting everything with your clarity; That, facing hate and anger, I have done my task here below, That I could not expect this wage, That I could not Foresee that you too, on my yielding head, Would let fall heavily your triumphant arm, And that you who saw how little joy I have, Would take my child away so quickly!

Which is almost word for word just Jean Valjean's:

I have left my blood on every stone, on every bramble, on every mile-post, along every wall, I have been gentle, though others have been hard to me, and kind, although others have been malicious, I have become an honest man once more, in spite of everything, I have repented of the evil that I have done and have forgiven the evil that has been done to me, and at the moment when I receive my recompense, at the moment when it is all over, at the moment when I am just touching the goal, at the moment when I have what I desire, it is well, it is good, I have paid, I have earned it, all this is to take flight, all this will vanish, and I shall lose Cosette, and I shall lose my life, my joy, my soul....

And this from the same poem:

I keep seeing that moment in my life when I saw her open her wings and fly off! I will see that instant until I die, the instant, no tears needed! where I cried: the child I had a minute ago— What? I don’t have her any more?

Is a similar sentiment to this angelic description of Cosette “taking flight” away from Jean Valjean:

Cosette, as she took her flight, winged and transfigured, left behind her on the earth her hideous and empty chrysalis, Jean Valjean.

And the moment when Jean Valjean realizes she’s in love with Marius, and has been “lost” to him without him realizing it:

The unprecedented and heart-rending thing about it was that he had fallen without perceiving it. All the light of his life had departed, while he still fancied that he beheld the sun.

This from the poem Demain dès l'aube, where Victor Hugo describes visiting Leopoldine's grave:

I will walk with my eyes fixed on my thoughts, Without seeing anything outside, without hearing any noise, Alone, unknown, back bent, hands crossed, Sad, and the day for me will be like night.

And Jean Valjean walking to Cosette's house, but never able to enter or speak to her:

There [Jean Valjean] walked at a slow pace, with his head strained forward, seeing nothing, hearing nothing, his eye immovably fixed on a point which seemed to be a star to him

This bit where Hugo talks about his faith weakening/cursing God in vain after Leopoldine’s death:

Consider how one doubts, O God! when one suffers, how the eye that weeps too much is blinded, how a being plunged by grief into the blackest pit, seeing you no more, cannot contemplate you.

Is similar to Jean Valjean’s spirtual self weakening and his consience “taking flight” at the idea of losing Cosette:

Any one who had beheld his spiritual self would have been obliged to concede that it weakened at that moment. (...) Grief, when it attains this shape, is a headlong flight of all the forces of the conscience. These are fatal crises. Few among us emerge from them still like ourselves and firm in duty.

Victor Hugo agonizing over his dreams of growing old with his daughter in A Villequier:

You make loneliness return always around all his footsteps.(...) As soon as he owns something, fate takes it away. Nothing is given to him, in his speedy days, for him to make a home and say: Here is my house, my field and my loved ones!

Jean Valjean:

“As one family! No. I belong to no family. I do not belong to yours. I do not belong to any family of men. In houses where people are among themselves, I am superfluous. There are families, but there is nothing of the sort for me. I am an unlucky wretch; I am left outside.

Victor Hugo's poetry in A Villequier again:

in the midst of cares, hardships, miseries, and of the shadow our fate casts over us, how a child appears, a dear sacred head, a small joyful creature, so beautiful one thinks a door to heaven has opened when it arrives; when for sixteen years one has watched this other self grow in loveable grace and sweet reason, when one has realized that this child one loves makes daylight in our soul and in our home,

Jean Valjean:

this man, who had passed through all manner of distresses, who was still all bleeding from the bruises of fate, (...) merely asked of Providence, of man, of the law, of society, of nature, of the world, one thing, that Cosette might love him! That Cosette might continue to love him! That God would not prevent the heart of the child from coming to him, and from remaining with him! Beloved by Cosette, he felt that he was healed, rested, appeased, loaded with benefits, recompensed, crowned. Beloved by Cosette, it was well with him! He asked nothing more! Had any one said to him: “Do you want anything better?” he would have answered: “No.” God might have said to him: “Do you desire heaven?” and he would have replied: “I should lose by it.”

Victor Hugo begging God to talk to his daughter again:

Let me lean over this cold stone and say to my child: Do you feel that I am here? Let me speak to her, bent over her remains, in the evening when all is still, as if, reopening her celestial eyes in her night, this angel could hear me!

Jean Valjean thanking God for letting him speak to Cosette one more time:

The good God says: “‘You fancy that you are about to be abandoned, stupid! No. No, things will not go so. Come, there is a good man yonder who is in need of an angel.’

I think the ending of Les Mis never made complete sense to me until I realized that Jean Valjean isn't grieving like a parent who has watched their child grow up; he is grieving like a parent who has just watched their child die.

again. im right at the start of season three so no spoilers outside of that but isaac being / identifying as sufi is so . important in contextualizing his character action, ideals, and personality ESPECIALLY because this story takes place at the height of sufist ideal in the islamic world.

this is not because i believes isaac is an especially spirtual muslim - but rather i dont think his disillusionment makes much sense if you don't understand his core values before he becomes a follower of dracula.

first, sufism is not an actual sect of islam like sunni or shia. it is probably most accurate to describe as a lens in which the faith in interpreted and practice, that places emphasis on the inward aspects and elements of the religion. it is fundamentally just islam with additional practices that are shunned / rejected by modern orthodox religion.

most muslims who would describe themselves as sufi at this time were often normally sunni muslim who subscribed to the four main scholarly houses of muslim belief. especially in the fourteen hundreds, during what was and still is considered the islamic golden era.

it is not a particularly unique thing for isaac to identify as a sufi muslim in that regard. however if your only reference for islam is modern islam - which is both deeply conservative and legalist, you will probably just see isaacs beliefs as unusual. his act of self-flagellation in particular will probably seem jarring.

sufism placed heavy importance on ritual in a way modern islam does not. orthodox islam views love as obdience, but this was not true during the islamic golden era. rather sufism viewed love for allah as a process of spiritual unification. it also focused much more heavily on the concept of a spirtual journey and emphasized kindness and high moral standard.

(this was as a result of the devotion sufists particular showed to the prophet SAW, who they believed to be the pinnacle of all of humanity. this is true of modern islam but the way sufist went about it was unique, because in order to achieve this they required a spiritual master )

codified sufist belief was structured around spiritual leadership. usually this spiritual leader was a master of some kind, someone who had close ties with the prophet (SAW). western text refers to them as saints but it is more complex than that.

in sufism, a spiritual leader often had murd (disciplies) who under went trials in order to find more spiritual enlightenment. and the last stage of islamic spiritual enlightenment in the case of sufism was the concept of fana.

AND THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT MOSTLY.

fana in sufist doctrine is the annihilation of self. because sufism is focused on spiritual unification with both allah and the prophet (SAW), the concept of fana intended to be achieved through ritual, meditation, etc (basically all the stuff disciples practice under their saints) - the idea is that achieving this level of connection happens when you are able to let go of earthly ideals and your human ego.

fana has two interpertations. anhillation of your individual ego in order to become an instrument of gods will and/or be prepared for the enlightenment required to connect with your lord.

(there is some debate about the exact end goal, but the modern poet rumi and famous sufist believed it to be about unification over becoming an instrument)

DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW FANA IS REFERRED TO IN MODERN SUFIST TEXT?

"to die before one dies," I.E. THE THING THAT ALUCARD SAYS ABOUT DRACULA AND IS VERY OVERTLY REFERENCES.

AND THAT IS WHAT IS MAKING ME SO...

so much of isaacs character is reflective of the spirtual journey sufist muslims made at this time. the seeking of a master, the critical lens and view of mankind the high standards he holds humanity too (and thus, the solace he must find in vampirism - a thing that exists outside of faith, to beings who are not subject to such standards and of whom he does not expect kindness.), the ritual aspect of his identity both as a forge master and the Captain who he is with now.

both isaac and hector develop a hatred of humanity based on their experiences. if by any chance they will take his character in the direction i assume they will - then i do not doubt the rest of his character arc will turn him onto the path of what i figure is some kind of redemption.

AND THE REASON I THINK THAT IS BECAUSE IM SURE ISAACS CHARACTER ARC WILL FOCUS ON HIS EGO, WHICH IS FOUNDED ON HIS HATRED OF HUMANITY.

isaacs anhillation of self and ego will in some sense of the word, i think, be a return to his humanity. no doubt, he has currently already undergone the process of being a murd not by one master but many which also became common in the 14th century !!!!! and from what i can tell captain is the final iteration of that!!!!!

so his final step, his arc being fana - to die again before dying and return to his former self (i.e. a reformed, aware version of the version of him that believed somewhat in humanitys) going on a spiritual journey would be completely in line with all the way isaac has already had parallels to 14th century sufist practice.

BUT IT IS SO EASY . SO EASY TO MISS THE BRILLANCE OF THAT IF YOU DONT KNOW!!!!! BUT I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have seen that in the West, the European witchcraze signaled the arrival of a new age of gynocidal processions. What is Moon water?

Moon Water is water that has absorbed the light of the moon.

 It can be made at any moon phase, so you may have full moon water, new moon, waning, waxing etc. All this means is that the water absorbed the light of the moon during that moon phase.

What is Moon Water used for?

Moon Water is used for many things. It is often added to or called for in Spells. Depending on the moon phase it was created in it can be used in place of or in addition to the moon phases energy.

Put the Jars lid on tightly, place the jar where it has direct moonlight. This should be done after moonrise when the moon is clear in the night sky.

Leave the jaw to absorb the moonlight as long as possible, remove the jar before sunrise and label it.

While we can all see the physical Sun, the spiritual aspirant wants the Sun to reveal its inner light and bring enlightenment. It is chanted three times a day at times known as three sandhyas : morning, midday and evening. The main function of Gayatri is to free the souls from the bondage of Maya (illusion). At the Hasta stage the soul is stuck in materialism and needs to invoke the higher power and see the inner world, so regular chanting of Gayatri Mantra will help Hasta people develop their higher selves and free them from their material ties.

Ancient History Impacts : Important but not of primary focus. Take from what I've learned and leave what doesn't resonate. Learn of more modern history when required or relevant. Honor major spirtual leaders and their lessons rather than the re-legion efforts of select groups.

Deities in Time-Space; to know is power over those who do not. A name is power and awareness to the spirtual world is wise at this time. However staying grounded and just as aware to the physical life is of primary importance to living healthy for the soul to sustain its efforts here. I do not associate with nor worship deities. However honoring cultural traditions, rites, initiations and those of peoples honest nature can be followed if in alignment to the Source of Light and based in the ethics of Compassion. Respecting also those beings who do associate with deities of their choice and supporting them if it shall benefit their wellbeing and that of others, in compassion.

Ascension & Alien Theory. Accepted as potential but not granted as the truth due to lack of evidence and follow through to the physical. However the mental and soul-spirit bodies have had a heavy impact on tithe pain/emotional and physical bodies at times in which those psychic experiences cannot be ignored or forgotten in this consideration. Belief in extraterrestrials extends to those that are likely friendly and those that are not, have strong experiences with, likely both types (et).

Description of Benedict is self explanatory. Sophie is creating conflict in his life. The woman he needs has something that she needs to do, a responsibility, that is preventing her from going to him. Benedict and Sophie relationship is primarily about control of money. The woman Ben needs will challenge him in a different way, a way he needs. If the two woman in this spread interact it might be to the spirtual enlightment of both parties. Benedict wants to be an astute man full of honesty and truth. He finds himself lacking stability, financial dependence and acting superficially. Sophie is blocked creatively, lost, focused on the negative and despondent. She will try to force creativity and if possible attempt to get pregnant. She does this because she feels overwhelmed by the choices presented to her. She is searching for purpose. She is prone to wishful thinking and daydreams. Schools are important. Collaboration between guardians and teachers is important. You want to know what school is really like right now then talk to a teacher because every time you discredit these PROFESSIONALS everyone suffers.

If you think you can do a better job, a more effective job than people who willingly studied, practiced, grow in their profession, then do it! Volunteer, engage in conversation, work collaboratively! If you aren’t willing to do that , to have conversations and participate in what is happening in schools across the country, please save your opinions. We are educators, not servants so stop treating us like it.
