So he's buddies with Editor-in-Chief of AustinWayMag and bumps into SpillTheTeaATX. For a night out to dinner, that's not a bad time. (And yet our lovely man hugs everyone equally, media or not)

I don't know about buddies, but since it's a preview opening for a high-end restaurant, it makes sense for Jared and other local celebs to be surrounded by journalists, influencers, radio personalities, etc.

I'm guessing it was an invitation-only event that offered free food and drink to the movers and shakers of Austin in order to garner good press and get The Statesman's name out there in the public consciousness. Basically, good marketing.

Regardless of the reason, it's still fun to see people enamored with Jared! He excels at giving people one-on-one attention, even in a crowded room.
