Evaluation
When creating my project I believe that the end outcome and testing phases were successful. This is because these both gave good results. The testing went very well as I got lots of feedback. This was helpful and allowed me to get a final design that had the best of all my test design. The project could’ve gone better if i had gotten more work done. This is especially significant for working at home as I could not get work done at home. Through out this project I have been lacking motivation due to mental issues so have not gotten as much work done as I could have. As well as not being able to cope well with the stress of making a perfect piece and creating a portfolio for university In my next project I would like to get more work done, especially on my blog.

Social spaces for my specialist industry.
ArtStation: ArtStation is a website that allows you to post artwork. This can be in a variety of medias and be 2D or 3D. It is a professional website that allows you to present your artwork and get commissions or find artists to commission.
Twitter: Twitter is a social media website and app that allows you to post a variety of things. It is used by many artists to show their work and if they can be contacted for commissions.
Youtube: Youtube is a website that allows you to post videos. These videos can be nearly anything. Many artists use youtube to show the process of creating their artworks. I will use ArtStation and Youtube to post my artwork on. This is because ArtStation is made for posting art and youtube is good for showing the development of the artwork as you can record the drawing process and upload it to youtube. I will not use Twitter as whilst it can reach a lot of people it can also be very mentally damaging.

Feedback on pose and outfit testing.
After looking at the feedback given I will most likely do the pose of the 5th character but turned a little more and tilted back some more similar to the 2nd pose. This will make the pose look more dynamic. They will probably wear the outfit of the 3rd pose. So they will have a more militaristic and historical accurate uniform and look. They will most likely have their hair up like in the 3rd pose as well as an officers cap. This will also give a more realistic look as your hair must be cut short up tied up in military engagements. They will have either blonde hair and blue ayes or darker hair with dark blue eyes. I prefer the blue eyes and blonde hair as it is the most common definition of aryan and so would fit the WW2 Germany look as the Nazis thought aryans were the superior race and person. The Tiger turret will be in panzer grey, similar to pose 3. This will also add to the historical accuracy as most panzers would be that colour. It is also a colour that shows the details of the tank turret but still gives it a more menacing/evil feel.

Pose and outfit testing
When designing the pose I wanted a action packed pose of the gun being fired. This would involve the character being launched backwards by the gun’s shooting. This was inspired by the amount of firepower the Tiger 1 possessed and the movement of the gun when firing moving back in 3 segments. I went with point for the other hand as it shows the character leading the charge or directing where to fire. Once I had gotten the pose down with the character launching backwards and pointing. I rotated the camera round it to get multiple different views. I decided on a side view of both sides, a 3 quarter view of both sides and a frontal view. Each character has an outfit inspired by different Wehrmacht uniforms. The 1st outfit is a more feminine version of the normal Wehrmacht uniforms. The 2nd outfit is inspired by the uniforms of the Afrika Korps. The 3rd outfit is a more cleaned up and historical Wehrmacht uniform. The 4th outfit is inspired by the summer tunic that Wehrmacht officers could wear. The 5th outfit is inspired by the white parkas of the winter uniforms of the Wehrmacht. The colour of the first Tiger gun is inspired by the green camo simillar to the Afrika Korps colour. The 2nd gun’s colour is inspired by the colour of the Afrika Korps’ tanks. The 3rd gun’s colour is panzer grey inspired by the colour of most german tanks. The 4th gun has a darker version of the panzer grey colour as I wanted tos ee how a darker version would look. The 5th gun is coloured basically white inspired by the winter camouflages used.

Tank Character Creation
In researching inspirations for my 1st character I looked at multiple tank types from multiple nations. I whittled it down to the Tiger 1. Churchill VII and Panther. I didn’t choose the Crusader light tank as I believed it was too small so would be a loli or younger looking character, which I do not want to design as I would prefer to design more developed characters as there is more body parts to design. Also designing developed characters allows me to use more provocative poses and outfits. I decided to not use the Panzer 4, T-34-85 and Sherman firefly as I couldn’t think of a good design for them also they would probably look very generic as these 3 tanks are the most produced or variations are the most produced tanks of their respective nation so would be very generic looking as there is many of them. So that left me with the Churchill VII, Tiger 1, Panther and KV-2. I got rid of the KV-2 as I thought the giant turret would be hard to convert over to a character and I also just don’t like the KV-2′s design as it is awkward and disproportionate so didn’t want to use it in my drawing. So, now was left with the Churchill VII, Panther and Tiger1. I decided not to use the Churchill VII as I couldn’t think of a good character design for it. I also thought that people wouldn’t recognise it as much as a Tiger 1 or Panther.

Timeline
Week 1 Week 1 will involve researching practitioners and idea generation.
Week 2 Week 2 will involve doing my project proposal. I will start researching the rigging, outfit and pose for my 1st character which will be inspired by a tank/armoured vehicle. I will then start working on it if I have enough time
Week 3 In week 3 I will make sure that my 1st character has been created and finished to its fullest extent. I will then start researching the rigging, outfit, pose for my 2nd character which will be inspired by a naval ship. I will also start working on it if I have time.
Week 4 In week 4 I will make sure the second character has been created and finished to its fullest extent. I will start researching the rigging, outfit, pose for my 3rd character which will be inspired by an aircraft. I will start working on it if I have time.
Week 5 In week 5 I will make sure the third character has been created and finished to its fullest extent. I will then get feedback on my artwork. I will also evaluate the feedback given.
Week 6 In week 6 I will apply feedback that I think is worth applying. I will then finally evaluate my work.

Examples of Practitioners
Daebom: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrVHlmiR7R5iZtn6zvkYLfg/videos
Daebom is an artist on youtube who draws anime girl versions of military vehicles. When doing this they will usually have a rough sketched out character outline first. This will then be turned into the final piece by adding linework and colour. However, this is not the interesting thing to me. The interesting thing to me is how they choose and incorporate the aspects of the vehicle into the character’s design. This is very interesting to me as I will need to learn how to do this somewhat for my project as I would like to do something similar anime girls inspired by military vehicles. Some examples is using the armament or armour to determine the character's breast size or if a tank has Schürzen (spaced armour skirts) then the character will be wearing a skirt. As well as adding usually the main armament into the piece usually as the character’s weapon. However in some pieces such as the A6M2 they wield a katana as the plane favours close range shooting so they have a close range weapon. I think that I can learn to distinguish what parts of the vehicles should be converted into how the character looks or what parts are wielded by the character or provide them armour using this method, which will be very useful in my project.
Kurumi: https://twitter.com/hermmot666
Kurumi is an artist that has created character artwork and alternate skins for (outfits) for characters in the mobile game Azur Lane. When creating original artwork they create a few rough sketches of the design then take what they like from a few of the designs an then take that into the final design. This is a good technique as it allows you to experiment with different poses and features then take the ones you like the most and move them to the final piece.
When designing the alternate skins for a character they take an already made skin or image of the character then draw the new skin over it. This allows them to keep the same character proportions so that the skin doesn’t look too different from the actual character. They then do multiple rough variations of what the skin could look like. They then take the the best aspects and combine them for the final finished skin. This is a good technique for testing out outfits and slight different poses and carried items of the character. This is because you can create the main part of the character, the body face, hair and pose but then experiment with different outfits until you find one or a combination you like for your character. I will use this second idea of testing out outfits in my project so I can give the perfect outfit to a character.
Ninomae Ina’nis: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMwGHR0BTZuLsmjY_NT5Pwg/videos
Ninomae Ina’nis (Ina) is a Vtuber that does drawing streams. When drawing Ina starts of with drawing the basic shapes that make up the character. As well as the lines for dimensions and where things should be laid out. This is the planning stage that allows to get the pose and proportions right. Then Ina moves onto the slightly more complicated parts outlining the finer details such as the outfit and such. Then they move onto the final linework. This linework is the final linework that will be seen in the final piece.
When it come to colouring the piece Ina applies a flat base colour, then colours the areas where there would be shadows or darkness. Then base colours for separate parts of the character, so skin colour, clothes colours and so forth. Then the highlights and shading are done. so, the colours and shading are done starting at the back and ending at the front most layer. This is a good way to add colour as it allows you to make sure every colour is right before moving onto something else and also means you don’t have to get rid of an old colour to change the current colour. I will most likely use some parts of both of these methods in my project as they are both very useful at creating good looking and accurate art work.
Byul_zzi: https://twitter.com/Byul_zzi/media
Byul_zzi creates character artwork and different skins for characters in azur lane. They created a lot of the vocaloid versions of the characters in azur lane. When creating the character’s artwork they do multiple iterations of the outfit of the character as well as the pose the character may be in. They show these off in character sheets that highlight the different iterations of outfits and poses as well as in depth looks at certain pieces of the outfits. Whether this be parts that are obscured in the final piece or are just hard to tell, such as see through pieces of clothing that is hard to see in the final artwork. I really like this way of showing off the end result as well as the process as it is a very easy and clear way to see everything.
reNPC: https://mobile.twitter.com/reNPCarts reNPC is an artist who does a lot of fan art of Vtubers as well making their own vtuber avatars (2D characters). In the process of creating the artwork they will usually do some smaller, rough thumbnail images of what the final outcome could look like. These thumbnail images show an iterative process where they start with an idea then change it slightly in the next few images till they get one they like. The changes can be very drastic like poses or smaller like what colours are going to be used. I think that this is a useful technique cause ,whilst it does take a little extra time, it allows the artist to both warm up a little and get ready for drawing the final piece as well as allowing to find the ideal pose and colours, among other things, for the final artwork.
When reNPC creates artwork with environments/backgrounds or more complicated poses they use 3D models set up in the way they want and trace over them or use it as a form of base for the image. This is also useful as if our a character artist you won’t be very proficient in backgrounds and environments as you focus mainly on characters. This is also very useful for drawing difficult poses and getting character proportions correct as this can be hard to do if you do it from scratch. I will most likely use both of these processes in my project as they will both be very useful to me.
