Just a Thought...
Here's a little lesson I taught at physical therapy yesterday. A few therapists and patients were discussing the woeful performance of the Pittsburgh Pirates. They lamented that the team never really gets better. Now, it's well known that the team owner doesn't spend a lot (in relative terms) of money on the team. So, I explained that if they really wanted the team to get better, they should stop watching them; stop buying their merchandise, and stop going to their games. The owner has shown that he will give you what you accept. If you accept a team that struggles -- year after year -- to remain in the middle of the standings, that's what the owner will give -- while still making money for himself. I told them this also translates to shopping. Does it annoy you when you go to Walmart, and they only have one cashier on duty -- while having 10-20 "self-checkout" lanes open? You're in a hurry, so you ring up your items (sans any kind of employee discount for doing their job). All while being watched by one employee and multiple cameras to ensure you're not cheating them by not ringing up every item. Well, it's the same principle. If you show Walmart that you'll do their job for them, they'll give you what you'll accept. Why put more cashiers on duty if the people will do it themselves? But, if -- and I know this would be an inconvenience for a day, or two -- if 27 shoppers lined up at the one manned cash register, and refused to use the self-checkout lane, it would force Walmart to open another lane. And, if it happened again the next day, Walmart might get the message. It's just a thought.

My parents were frugal not simply because they had to be careful, but because they saw little reason for making life about money.

to spend gastar
Think gastronomy: You surely will be ‘spending’ when dining in restaurants that carry Michelin stars.
“It seems like I spend almost all my money on gas.”
I only spent three dollars. Sólo gasté tres dólares.

The Price Tag of Happiness
In my early twenties,
I thought I knew what worth meant,
a dollar sign glinting on my wrist,
the sheen of Chanel leather,
the red soles of Louboutins marking each step
as if my value could be measured
by the shine of a designer label.
I skipped classes to stroll to the luxury mall,
feeling the thrill of swiping plastic,
watching those bags pile up --
Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton,
Saks Fifth Avenue, each name a promise
that I was someone,
that these things could make me whole.
Chase, Capital One, American Express,
cards burning hot in my hands,
their magnetic strips giving me a sense of freedom,
a momentary rush,
as I left with bags strung on my arms,
like trophies from battles I thought I'd won.
I'd come home,
lay each item out like treasures,
soft leather, gleaming jewels,
the silent splendor of material things.
For a moment, I was happy,
the quiet bliss settling over me,
a perfect illusion of success,
the feeling that I had arrived.
But then the bills came,
one after another,
the numbers stacking up like bricks in a wall,
and I was left staring at statements
with mounting dread,
wondering how I'd pay for the life I'd bought,
a life wrapped in debt,
silently weighing me down.
I tried to make sense of it,
tried to find solace in the bags, the shoes,
the gold-plated necklaces and Cartier bracelets,
but they stared back at me, mute,
unmoving,
no comfort in their silent gleam.
Because they can't hold you when you're breaking,
can't ease the ache when loneliness hits
or life pulls you down.
Luxury can't talk,
can't grant you support,
can't show up at your door when you're drowning
in numbers and late fees.
Only family, only friends --
the people who'l stand beside you,
who''ll see past the labels,
who'll stay when the gold fades and the leather wears thin.
I learned, in time,
that my worth was in handbags and sneakers,
but in the hands I could hold,
the laughter shared without price,
the love that filled rooms money could never buy,
Those bags sit in the closet now,
a reminder of the illusions I bought,
and the truth I finally found,
that luxury fades,
but real worth,
the kind that matters,
stays with you forever.

You can always do college ramblings dude don't be sorry!! I totally get that, I left high school a year early cause I could not do it anymore, if they sent me to college I would have popped like a balloon lol But if the time isn't right that's understandable I think, you can always go back later if you feel up to it there's no time limit ^^ But yeah, that's monday thoughts!! Now it's time for chilling and having fun :D
ALSO!!! I forgot to tell you I had a dream the other day that there were a bunch of slugs on my bedroom walls but they were fast. Like I caught one to put it outside but I remember thinking "I'll never catch these other guys they're going way too fast" and it took me ages after I woke up to remember slugs don't do that lol
Anyway now I'm going to bed for real Good night!! I hope you have nice dreams too when you go <3
Thanks, it really helps hearing that, what I'm most upset about is just not seeing the good profs anymore if I quit lol, cause some of them are cool!! (Also the money. But I do not like spending anything at all ever so. When am I not upset about money?)
Also holy shit? Speedy slugs?? That's actually kind of scary. I would freak out, I've had many weird dreams, the ones I remember at least. Good night for real!! Hope the slugs don't bother you again!
