One Issue I Would Have if the Series Continued

I would love to have another season of Mysticons. It's a great show with amazing characters and so much potential for other storylines, and I wish it became a very popular show with many seasons, similar to Winx Club. However, there is one problem; the final villain was too great of a threat.

The Spectral Hand was a huge villain in the show. It's an ancient evil that could make people vanish just by wrapping them with its tentacles, could attack a wide area and needed a special weapon to destroy. Because of this, the Spectral Hand is a great villain.

This is why it would cause a problem. The show, like many shows, increase how threatening the villains are. For example, Dreadbane was the first main villain, and he wasn't that threatening when compared to Necrafa. And while you could argue that Proxima isn't as strong as Necrafa, the fact that Proxima had a connection to the Mysticons, took over an important organization (the Astromancers), and made the Vexicons made her a strong enough threat. Because of this, if the series continued, we would have to find a stronger villain than the Spectral Hand, which would be challenging.

There are some villains that could take over, but it would be hard to figure out how they're justified. Tazma is strong, but she'd need to be given more powers to be above the Spectral Hand. And while there is the Spectral Hand's creator, considering the Spectral Hand destroyed her, it's hard to say that she would be a larger threat.

However, this only applies if you see the Spectral Hand as a true villain, and not something summoned by the main villain (the Vexicons). As the Spectral Hand has no personality or speaking lines, it's possible that people see it more of an entity than a character. Also, the Spectral Hand only lasted for one episode. Because of this, it's possible that it does not count as a villain, so the next villain in the show would only have to be stronger than the Vexicons.

In short, given how powerful the Spectral Hand is, it would be hard to have a stronger villain than it for the series to continue. However, for those who do not consider the Spectral Hand as a villain itself, as it's not much of a character, it's not an issue.

I know there are as many religious good guys as there are religious bad guys in IDW, but I think I pinned down the reason why it feels like the most prominent religious figures are all bad guys and it's pretty much due to the worldbuilding.

Maybe my memory of the comics is just really bad, but the religious worldbuilding in IDW is....kind of trash honestly. I'm not sure there's a single religion or religious custom that doesn't exist solely to further the plot along. Like, it's one thing for the Camiens to worship the Primes and that causes a lot of stuff in exRID/OP, but what does that worship actually look like? What are their holidays, customs, religious texts? What about "spectralism" which basically the only thing we know about is the Festival of the Lost Light and some hippie color coding and aura shit? Like sure, there are characters who are religious and their beliefs come into play sometimes, but it honestly feels (especially in MTMTE) more like their religiousness only exists when it's relevant to the plot and it's just kinda. Disappointing eh. Lacking in worldbuilding. Plus the more religious a character is the more it's written as their entire personality and the driving force making them evil so it just kinda made me cringe to read honestly.

I will keep your experiences in mind! Though, just as much, perhaps the questions you cannot answer maybe useful to inquire of the field researchers?

First and most tangentially, for X-ray's peace of mind when he reads this later, can you describe the preventative measures against contamination between your worlds?

Secondly, can you describe the climate conditions? Rainfall, humidity, atmosphere?

I am also curious about the nature of nitrogen cycling on this world. It must take quite a bit to grow such large and active flora, and carnivory usually suggests a lack of it in the soil, yet as predation is a somewhat unreliable source...They must have long growth periods? Supplemental mutualistic microorganisms? Or perhaps despite predation there is just that high a density of insects?

I am surprised there are no smaller ones described, at that. One imagines that if this ecosystem did develop naturally there would be a great variety in sizes and adaptations among them to living there. Parasites and parasitoids of those parasites, pathogens ferried by the sapsuckers, etc.

For that matter, is the reproductive cycle of these plants understood yet? Do they require pollination of any kind, or do they employ mobile morphs or clonal growth? Do they likewise have mobile fruits to spread their seeds, if they even do have them, or do they use other means such as phoresy on the insects?

I hate the Piapro Super Pack

They all sound like NT. In this video by SukoyaCathedral on Twitter comparing Kaito SP with his V3, you can clearly hear how the voice sounds just as nasally as NT and all the transitions sound muffled and choppy. They all sound like they got a bad cold and are trying to sing anyway.

A Spectral Analysis of the Video above shows that "V3 has diagonal formants, that means real samples. SP just jumps from one vowel to another." - @The_Soda_Wave

Especially Luka and Meiko are just Miku NT 2 and 3. They do not retain their Sound at all, sounding just like Miku most of the time, especially in the highs. This makes both of them nothing more than some sort of "Append" for Miku NT/SP. Here is an example of Luka SP by Axxell from the SynthV Unofficial Discord:

The worst thing about this situation for me is that this wasn't a rushed product in any way. They had all the time in the world to make it, they could've postponed it before the announcement and after, but based on them having demos ready and everything, it was clearly planned to be released like this. Crypton doesn't usually just rush things out for the sake of it, seeing as there is still only Miku on NT with no release of the other Piaproloids in sight.

This makes it very clear to me that Crypton is happy with this result. They WANT them all to sound like NT, all muffled and choppy. Luka and Meiko sounding just like Miku with parameters changed is DELIBERATE. Which also leads me to suspect this will be how the voices are going to sound moving forward with every new release as well. What this means for Miku V6? We will have to see, but my hopes have already gone down the drain.

No one actually likes the Sound of NT, the only people who actively listen to it are Project Sekai players, and with the art style of the box art and all of them sounding closer to their NT counterparts, I can only assume this Super Pack is actually a Sekai Pack, marketed to that side of the fan base.

In Conclusion:

The Superpack is a budget alternative to the actual VBs with worse quality in all aspects, no English compatibility and the sound of NT (one of the least liked vocal synth programs) hiding beneath it, which also completely destroys the tone of 2/6 characters. Even SynthV Lite voices sound better and those are free.

The only people that would gain anything from this are fans of Miku, Rin, Len and Kaito or beginners that really want VOCALOID instead of the other cheaper available programs, that don't mind that they sound bad and just want a cheaper way to get them, even if that means they are not as good.

This is the sound that Crypton wants for their Vocal Synths moving forward. They want them to sound sick and like they're eating their own words while singing them.

Crypton really hates Luka and Meiko and just wants them to sound like Miku

Hi there! Quick question, How does Idia feel about Leona?? to me, they have such weird dynamic. They don't like each other but they don't outright hate each other either, but sometimes it feels like they're totally fine with each other?? Is this just a respect thing??

Hello hello!! This gets into character analysis which is definitely not my strength, so I reached out to one of the most knowledgeable Idia-analyzers I’ve ever seen ( @frost__tw ) who was so kind as to collaborate with me on this response, and I am forever grateful ♡

Also: agreed! Their dynamic is particularly fascinating because they are both complete opposites and extremely similar, simultaneously:

Both are housewardens, near the same height, canonically attractive, unusually intelligent, very sarcastic, enjoy chess, are from important families, keep others at a distance, often complain about having to go out of their way to do things they are uninterested in, have brother issues and won’t put effort into things they have predetermined to be impossible, which ties directly into how they are trapped in situations they can’t do anything about due to the circumstances of their birth.

And we also have their recently introduced titles (on JP server): “Ambitious King” and “King of the Underworld.”

It is difficult to pinpoint exactly how Idia feels about Leona, possibly because he doesn’t know very much about him (which is possibly because Leona doesn’t want him to).

During Book 6 he assumes that Leona isn’t suited to a leadership role, for example, despite how people who actually spend time with Leona say otherwise.

The two overlap in Idia’s second birthday vignette, where Leona gifts him with an artisanal chess set and the two pause the interview to play together.

They seem to mutually agree not to mention who won the game, and it may have been a draw.

We see Idia categorize people and generalize them into character tropes (from anime/manga/games) throughout the game, and based upon Leona’s appearance/outward behavior, Idia may labeling him as the scary top boss of the Savanaclaw hooligans (re: their Halloween vignette together) in his mind.

But he is able to overcome his initial flight response in this birthday vignette once Leona procures the chess set (one of Idia’s personal interests).

(This is part of the reason why Idia’s stutter is such an important part of the character: he stutters when he panics, but then speaks smoothly when he becomes passionate, which the characters even comment on in the game (Ortho calls it his "go off switch" on EN, and his "heat up switch" on JP).)

Leona is difficult to read because he will insult the people he likes and respects just as readily as he does those he does not (something that we see Jamil come to understand in real time during Book 6), so trying to work out his true opinion about anything can get into conjecture.

They also do not overlap particularly often, which gives us less to work with, but his teasing of Idia in the birthday vignette is not dissimilar to his teasing of characters like Jamil and Vil. Whereas they understand Leona’s humor, however, Idia may not.

What we know for a fact is that Leona has canonically complimented Idia for being both intelligent and powerful during Spectral Soiree, and this may have been a parallel to Terror is Trending when, extremely impressed by Savanaclaw’s Halloween set, Idia asks, “Did Leona use his magic for it?”

Idia also comments on Leona’s power during his evaluations at STYX, saying, “I already knew Leona was tough and could handle whatever danger comes at him…”

I think you are correct, and it is a respect thing!

They are both aware of the other’s familial situations and strengths and, in any other circumstances, they might get along well. But their personalities are just too different, they frustrate each other in every conversation they have, and whatever positives the other person has might just not be enough to outweigh how obnoxious they find the other to be.

We learn from Vil that the rule at NRC is “the weak obey the strong,” and the Housewardens at NRC seem to take this literally, with Idia, Leona and Vil all being constantly torn between sincere annoyance and grudging respect. The three referring to others as “spudlings,” “normies” and “herbivores” is another interesting overlap that they share.

(Despite being even more different than Leona and Idia, Leona and Vil repeatedly find common ground in allying against Idia.)

(In a parallel to this, Leona and Idia find common ground on the subject of Malleus, with Leona saying, “It’s a pain when the majority forces their opinion on you,” which is an opinion Idia seems to share.)

Overall, Leona and Idia seem to share a mutual undertone of “I know you’re the best at what you do, but I can’t stand you. I acknowledge that you’re intelligent, capable and talented, but please go be that somewhere else,” which ties directly into a comment from Yana’s 2023 interview:

“Since the characters in the story are villains they do not admit defeat, but they will admit, ‘Hey, you did pretty good.’ Even if they don’t like each other, they will recognize each other’s abilities.”

I've been thinking about what the chamber of my iterator OC, Three Stars Above Clouds, looks like.

TSAC's pearls are typically arranged in sorted categories. On the right, the large vertical group of pearls is mostly raw data files from their observatories. TSAC's large-scale sky surveys generate massive amounts of data that need to be reduced, categorized, and analyzed. This is how they spend the majority of their free time.

The pearls that orbit around them contain information actively in the process of data reduction and analysis. After TSAC cleans up and categorizes the data, they iterate on it using a series of different analysis techniques. Spectral analysis, light curves, etc. They're basically looking for changes in the sky from night to night.

After analysis is complete (it usually takes several cycles- the data are packed very densely into the pearls), the pearls are moved over to the group on the left. Once TSAC is satisfied with the results, the pearls will be moved into the Memory Conflux to be archived.

The pearls floating independently contain miscellaneous data. Things like log files, equipment manifests, and personal data they want to hold on to, such as images they find particularly intriguing.

Just like Moon and Pebbles, if Three Stars Above Clouds is disturbed, their pearls will drop to the floor of their chamber, such as in the second picture. TSAC tends to become very annoyed if someone interrupts them while they are working.

I imagine that if a hypothetical slugcat wandered into their chamber, TSAC wouldn't have very much to say to them. They'd probably try to simply force them to leave right away so they can get back to work. TSAC would only resort to giving a slugcat the Mark of Communication if they return to TSAC's chamber repeatedly, and TSAC became annoyed enough to try and verbally convince them that they need to leave.

They would also become very agitated if the slugcat plays around with their pearls, or worse- tries to leave with one (sort of like how post-collapse Moon reacts to the slugcat grabbing one of her neurons). I think TSAC would only resort to violence if the slugcat swallows a pearl and refuses to give it back. Otherwise they would simply grab the slugcat using telekinesis and punt them out of their chamber, lol.

I don't think it would be impossible for TSAC to befriend a slugcat, just somewhat difficult. Maybe they would warm up to the slugcat if brought enough pearls from outside their chamber. I envision TSAC having a big scavenger problem due to the large quantities of pearls found on their facility grounds- maybe the slugcat could return TSAC's stolen pearls found in a scavenger treasury.

on  an  ordinary  winter  night,  HERO  found  himself  alone  in  the  middle  of  a  desolate,  snow-covered  forest.  the  snow  wasn't  the  usual  white  but  shimmered  in  shades  of  blue  and  gold,  casting  an  eerie,  ethereal  glow.  HERO  had  no  recollection  of  how  he  got  there  but  felt  a  strange  pull  as  if  something—or  someone—was  guiding  him.

as  he  walked  through  the  forest,  the  snow  began  to  melt  beneath  his  touch,  turning  into  golden  droplets  that  evaporated  into  the  air.  the  cold  should  have  bothered  him,  but  instead,  it  felt  oddly  comforting.  the  forest  was  silent  except  for  the  soft  crunch  of  snow  under  his  feet  and  the  distant,  haunting  howl  of  wolves.

HERO  ventured  deeper  into  the  forest,  and  the  trees  seemed  to  whisper  secrets  from  the  past.  he  stumbled  upon  a  clearing  where  spectral  images  of  his  memories  floated  around  him.  he  saw  himself  as  a  child,  laughing  and  playing  with  friends;  he  saw  his  first  love,  a  girl  with  bright  eyes  and  a  radiant  smile;  he  saw  moments  of  triumph  and  sorrow,  all  swirling  in  a  ghostly  dance.

he  reached  out  to  touch  one  of  the  images,  and  it  dissipated  into  golden  dust.  a  sense  of  longing  and  regret  washed  over  him.  he  realized  these  memories  were  not  just  from  his  past  but  fragments  of  what  could  have  been,  paths  not  taken,  dreams  unfulfilled.

( PART TWO )

HERO  followed  one  of  the  paths,  his  heart  pounding  with  anticipation.  the  tree  in  front  of  him  was  unlike  any  he  had  ever  seen;  it  radiated  an  aura  of  wisdom  and  power.  at  its  base  sat  an  old  woman,  the  ORACLE,  her  eyes  blindfolded  yet  seeming  to  see  everything.

"why  have  you  come,  seeker?"  she  asked  in  a  voice  that  echoed  through  the  forest.

"i  don't  know,"  HERO  replied  honestly.  "i  feel  lost."

the  ORACLE  nodded.  "you  are  here  to  find  what  was  lost  and  to  understand  what  lies  ahead.  the  wolves  are  your  fears  and  doubts.  to  move  forward,  you  must  face  them."

as  if  on  cue,  the  wolves  began  to  transform.  they  grew  larger,  their  forms  shifting  into  monstrous  versions  of  themselves,  each  representing  a  fear  or  regret  that  haunted  HERO.  one  snarled  with  the  face  of  betrayal,  another  with  the  visage  of  failure,  and  yet  another  with  the  guise  of  loneliness.

HERO  knew  he  had  to  confront  them.  drawing  strength  from  deep  within,  he  faced  each  wolf  in  turn.  the  battles  were  fierce,  both  physically  and  mentally,  as  he  wrestled  with  his  inner  demons.  with  each  victory,  the  wolves  shrank  back  into  their  original  forms  and  then  into  harmless  golden  dust.

exhausted  but  triumphant,  HERO  turned  back  to  the  ORACLE.  she  gestured  to  the  tree,  and  a  mirror-like  portal  appeared  on  its  trunk.  "step  through,"  she  instructed.  "your  journey  is  not  yet  complete."

with  a  deep  breath,  HERO  stepped  through  the  portal  and  found  himself  in  a  surreal,  dreamlike  realm.  the  sky  was  a  swirl  of  colours,  and  the  ground  beneath  his  feet  felt  like  walking  on  clouds.  here,  time  seemed  fluid,  and  the  laws  of  physics  didn't  apply.

he  encountered  versions  of  himself  from  different  points  in  time,  each  offering  insights  and  lessons.  some  were  younger  and  more  hopeful,  others  older  and  wiser.  they  guided  him  through  the  realm,  helping  him  piece  together  the  fragments  of  his  soul.

in  the  heart  of  this  realm,  HERO  found  a  radiant  crystal,  pulsating  with  energy.  as  he  touched  it,  a  wave  of  clarity  and  understanding  washed  over  him.  he  saw  his  life  in  its  entirety,  the  interconnectedness  of  every  choice,  every  regret,  and  every  moment  of  joy.  he  understood  that  his  journey  wasn't  just  about  confronting  his  fears  but  embracing  every  part  of  himself.

with  newfound  wisdom,  he  stepped  back  through  the  portal,  returning  to  the  forest.  the  ORACLE  was  gone,  but  the  ancient  tree  now  bore  blossoms  of  gold  and  blue.  the  forest,  once  eerie  and  desolate,  was  now  vibrant  and  alive  with  the  promise  of  new  beginnings.

as  dawn  broke,  HERO  walked  towards  the  edge  of  the  forest.  the  first  light  of  day  painted  the  sky  in  hues  of  hope  and  possibility.  the  wolves,  now  gentle  and  watchful,  followed  at  a  distance,  no  longer  symbols  of  fear  but  of  guardianship.

HERO  whispered  to  himself,  "oh,  bless  my  heart,"  feeling  the  strength  and  wisdom  he  had  gained.  as  he  stepped  out  of  the  forest  and  into  the  rising  sun,  he  knew  that  he  was  ready  to  face  whatever  lay  ahead.  his  journey  through  the  mystical  forest  had  transformed  him,  and  he  was  no  longer  the  man  who  had  entered  it.
