I images that, SG and Origin world got a portal connect two world together.

What reaction when Buddy first see SG!Megs? I think she gonna be scared and hid in her room.

What reaction when she saw SG!Megatron is a great patient, loving dad toward her just like OP?

Will she get close to him and call him "Dad"?

Because SG!OP very violence, to make SG!Megatron fight him in Cybertron.

Buddy was watching a movie with the kids on the projector.

Bee and Smokescreen had just gotten back from patrol.

Arcee was talking with Optimus and Ratchet about something.

The Wreckers had managed to get Magnus to throw a lob after days of pestering.

Truly a lovely day.

Until the portal spawned in the center of the base.

“Oh, not this again!”--Buddy

Buddy shields the kids with her frame.

“What do you mean again!”--Miko

“Trust me this has happened more times than I would like to have! The travel is awful and the lands are worse!”--Buddy

“And that’s story to tell for another time!”--Ratchet

“How do we stop it?!”--Wheeljack

“You don’t! You either get sucked in or something—”--Buddy

BANG!

The light disappears.

“—something comes out.”--Buddy

There in the middle of the bases floor were three mechs sprawled out, groaning from their rough landing.

Three very familiar looking mechs…

Oh no…

The kids could feel Buddy shake at the sight of the newcomers.

The three mechs stood up and scanned their surroundings.

There was no doubt that they were Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave.

They had different paintjobs with similar frame structure, but that wasn’t what Buddy was focusing on.

She was focusing on the blue optics staring at her.

The blue optics she once looked into when she was a sparkling.

The blue optics of Megatron.

Buddy and SG! Megatron staring at each other.

Optimus and Ratchet immediately get in front of her.

Starscream and Soundwave stand up slightly in front of their leader who was just starting to stand.

Tense silence.

Megatron holds eye contact with Prime.

“We do not mean you any harm.”--Megatron

“And how do we know this isn’t a trick Megatron?”--Ratchet

Megatron looks at Starscream and Soundwave.

All three drop their weapons, surprising the Autobots.

“Megatron?”--Optimus

“As I said before. We do not mean you any harm.”--Megatron

“You are not our Megatron, am I correct?”--Optimus

Megatron nods.

“We come from an alternative universe. You seem to know my name as Megatron. This is my loyal Second in Command, Starscream.”--Megatron

“Two words I never thought I’d hear in a sentence.”--Smokescreen

“And my third in Command Soundwave.”--Megatron

“Hi!”--Soundwave

Almost everyone visibly jumps back.

“Did—did he just speak?”--Wheeljack

“Yeah? I talk all the time!”--Soundwave

“Sometimes more than usual Soundwave.”--Starscream

“Yeah. Sorry about that one time Screamy.”--Soundwave

Starscream shakes his helm fondly as Soundwave scratches the back of his neckcables.

“We come from a world that is near opposite to yours.”--Megatron

“How do you know that?”--Ratchet

“Our chief scientist, Shockwave was experimenting on the latest relic we managed to acquire from the Autobots. There was no telling what they were going to do with such a relic. Shockwave had enough time to tell us some of the basics before the blast came through.”--Starscream

Optimus nods at the new information.

“How are you guys getting back home?”--Smokescreen

“Shockwave was making a failsafe in case something like this happened. In theory we should be back in a couple of hours. But seeing as he was halfway done with it when the flash came in… a week at most.”--Soundwave

Megatron turns to Prime.

“Will you allow my mechs and I a place of refuge until then?”--Megatron

Prime thinks before agreeing.

Optimus in turn begins to introduce himself and the rest of the team.

He named Buddy last.

This certainly had gotten a reaction from the three Cons.

“This is Buddy, our archivist and technical support of the team.”--Optimus

All three mechs stare a bit at Buddy.

Soundwave kneels down and gently pats Buddy’s helm.

“It’s--it’s good to see ya kid.”--Soundwave

He stands back up, making room for Starscream to kneel.

He offers her his servo to shake.

Buddy shakes it hesitantly.

Starscream just smiles.

“Pleasure to meet you Buddy.”--Starscream

Buddy took the first step towards this Megatron.

It wasn’t the fact that he took a step backwards that surprised her the most.

It is his optics.

Fear.

Sorrow.

Regret.

Hope.

What happened to him?

Buddy slowly approached the giant and held out her servo.

Slowly he grabbed her servo.

It was shaky.

Nothing like the strong death grips she had grown accustomed to.

After the exchange it was settled that the three Decepticon’s would stay until their Shockwave got them home.

It was extremely tense around the base.

Starscream, strangely, got along well with some of the bots. This just surprised them when they found this Starscream to be way more tolerable than the one they knew.

For one, he wasn’t trying to kill Megatron ever second.

Starscream was surprised to hear his counter part wanting to do that to his leader.

He would never try and do that to his Megatron!

He was also caring to others, which was another shock to the team.

Bumblebee trips on a stray cube, slightly skinning his knee.

“Oh! Here let me.”--Starscream

Starscream pulls out a mini mesh kit to fix the joint.

Confused Bee noises intensifies.

Soundwave got along best with the kids and younger Bots.

It was only natural.

There almost wasn’t a second where he wasn’t making some sort of noise, whether it be music or talking, much to Ratchet’s dismay.

It was rare to hear him go silent.

He has mixed feelings about his counterpart’s silent but deadly behavior.

Mainly because he can’t stand so much stillness, ironic being the master spy he was.

Soundwave and Miko jamming out to some rock ballads.

“Oh Primus… there’s two of them now…”—Ratchet

Megatron stays mostly by Prime’s side as the two would have nice talks.

He was the slowest to be integrated into the group.

He did ask about his counterpart, but he noticed that no bot would outright talk about his alternative whenever Buddy was in the room.

There were always side glances towards Buddy’s direction.

Worried glances.

One thing each of the Decepticons noticed fast was that Buddy was never left alone with any of them.

Usually, she was accompanied by a bot or two.

But whenever Megatron came, it almost doubled in numbers.

Soundwave was the one who brought it up one day as he plopped down next to her.

“So, Buddy… how’s your Megatron doing? I mean why haven’t we seen him with you?”--Soundwave

“We aren’t exactly… on talking terms Soundwave.”--Buddy

“How come?”--Soundwave

Buddy looks over at Soundwave and the other Con’s nearby.

“I think you might want to sit down for this.”--Buddy

They quickly sat down by Buddy, as some of the other bots sat down close by.

She knew why, but she continues.

She took a vent in before telling them her story from the beginning.

From the moment Megatronus found her.

From the times she remembered being in Orion Pax’s care.

From the times she was snuck into the gladiator quarters.

From when she met Soundwave and the minicons.

From the Senate meeting.

From the last time seeing Orion and Ratchet.

From when the war started.

From when the training had begun.

From when Megatron left, leaving her to control the army.

From Megatron’s return with the Dark energon.

From Megatron’s worsening training and ideals.

From Megatron’s second death and her having to take care of the army once more.

From Starscream’s ideals and the pushing.

From Megatron’s return.

From The Slash.

From the worse training to date.

From Soundwave snapping.

From Soundwave giving Buddy away to Prime.

The Decepticons had gone silent.

Soundwave was the first to reach out for a hug.

It felt familiar, yet different.

Starscream was the next.

Who knew Starscream could give out good hugs?

After a pause he asks if it was okay to hug her.

Buddy had leaped into his open arms before he could finish the sentence.

She buried her faceplate into his neck cables hugging tightly.

Megatron hugged tight too but minded his strength and size.

He gently stroked her back.

“I’m… I am so sorry Buddy.”--Megatron

Buddy lightly hiccupping in Megatron’s neck cables.

“I am so sorry little one.”--Megatron

Buddy finally faces Megatron.

“It—It wasn’t your fault. You had—had nothing to do with my Megatron’s actions.”--Buddy

“…”--Megatron

“…Something happened to my alternative, didn’t it?”--Buddy

“…Yes…”--Megatron

That was when he told her about his Buddy.

From when he found her in the alley.

From raising her with his friend Orion Pax.

From meeting Starscream and Soundwave.

From the Senate meeting.

From the last time she would see her uncle Orion storm out of the chamber.

From the time Nemesis Prime had arisen.

From the time she had been a shining beacon of hope amongst the soldiers.

From the time she disappeared.

From the time Soundwave and him found Prime holding her by her neckcables, struggling out of his grip.

From the pleas.

From the last ‘love you’.

From the blast of the cannon.

From holding his daughter’s offlined corpse in his servos.

From moving to Earth.

From the continuation of the war.

Buddy only hugged him tighter.

He needed it.

They both needed this more than anything.

It was at that moment the light came through.

It was time for them to leave.

The Cons saying their good-byes to everyone.

“If you ever end up in our universe, wouldn’t recommend it, feel free to ask for any of us! Maybe we can show you the base!”--Soundwave

The Cons turn to Buddy, each giving their own long hugs.

Megatron and Buddy give the longest hugs.

“Stay strong little one.”--Megatron

“Same to you, big guy.”--Buddy

Megatron and Buddy give each other one last look before the three walk to the light and vanish just as fast as it came.

They both knew that the alternative couldn’t replace the other, they lost to time. But it still felt good knowing that somewhere in the universe, one was alive and well.

It is set in the G1 Cartoon. Unfortunately, it has grown more character analysis then I intend. I know have much more planned for the MegaShock / MoonShock.

MegaShock is like a childhood romance in this as I am going with the Megatron Was Made and Raised to Lead the Decepticons to Overthrow the Autobots backstory from the cartoon. Except I am applying seriousness to this. Also drawing from the G1 character notes of Soundwave being a blackmailer and feared in his faction and fully willing to overthrow Megaton if needed. They both are aware he's more loyal to the Cause and his Cassettes and have a friendly working relationship as a result of understanding fully where the other stands.

Shockwave in this is the more devoted one and he and Megatron have known each other since they were young as they were both made for Decepticon war effort. Shockwave was left behind while Megatron left with Soundwave and Starscream in the same way historically a king leaves with his generals and their spouse is left behind to "hold the kingdom" and Shockwave was Guardian of Cybertron. It is known that Shockwave is the Conjunx to be and that's part of why there is absolute confidence that he won't betray Megatron and why Shockwave clung to the belief he would return.

There's going to be some deeply emotional moments previously when Shockwave discovered he was carrying and it crushed him because Megatron should have been here. During a attack from Elita's squad to steal supplies due to the recent developments, Shockwave is slower and Moonracer realizes the symptoms in her or the same in him. They get stuck together when she pushes him out of the way and have a bonding moment trapped together while Elita and Shockwave's Seekers worked to get them out. Moonracer comforts him and Shockwave has an emotional moment of weakness. This is what leads to the peace.

Moonracer as the one who saw his moment of weakness supports Shockwave throughout his carrying while everyone else is still wary of the hostile and cool attitude he gives to everyone. She barreled passed this, but respected it when he established a need for space. This led to both of them growing tender feelings as Moonracer admits her lover Powerglide too. The bond over their shared loss and Shockwave's focus switches more and more to focusing on the Decepticons left behind and the future with a child as Moonracer was encouraging.

They finally admitted to having feelings for each other after "Progeny" and Mirage were born.

And then the Earth called and it turns out both their lovers are alive.

The concept of Megs having been made to lead the decepticons has interesting implications to it

OWO on that characterization of Soundwave, I think a lot about that one

Damn, that makes sense (the leaving Shockwave being compared to a king leaving the spouse behind for their own noble duty thing)

Fascinating how Moon and Shockers got together, I'm voting Moonracer noticed first

Megatron and Shockwave find it annoying, and don’t want to be coddled

Soundwave is thankful, someone else is trying to keep his younglings safe

Rumble and Frenzy try to prove that don’t need protection

Ravage likes being carried around

Buzzsaw and Lazerbeak like perching on the seeker’s wings

Ratbat tries to avoid the seeker when he can

Tc and Warp like cuddles in private, not in public though

Megatron likes being doted on, and tries to keep Starscream away from the battlefield as much as he can

The seeker is more like a medic than anything

Shockwave hates being doted on, and does his best to avoid Starscream

Soundwave has no idea what’s going on

Tc is stubborn when it comes to Starscream’s mothering tendencies, Warp loves that Star is safe and not scary

Megatron hates being doted on, and often pawns the seeker off on Soundwave

Soundwave and Starscream care for each other, as they know how much the other has lost

Shockwave uses Predaking to try and get out of Starscream’s mothering nature, and it backfires when Predaking starts being more loyal to Starscream

Star is very protective of the human children, almost sacrificing himself to keep them safe

Bots are thankful and a bit skeptical when Star gives the children back

Star will lecture the bots about the safety of the children

Lord help them if Starscream ever finds out about Griffin Rock

Cyberverse

All the seekers have to put up with an over protective Starscream, as the seeker is in charge of them

Megs deals with the overprotectiveness, and tries to get Starscream to start his own blog to try and get the cons more freedom

Shockwave hates Starscream’s mothering nature

Soundwave just wants to have fun, and wants Starscream to loosen up a bit

The Autobots are not safe from Starscream’s mothering nature

Hot Rod, Bumblebee, and Windblade have gotten their fair share of lectures from the seeker, as well as cuddles

Earthspark

Star feels betrayed by Megatron, and doesn’t know why Megatron locked him up

Is Soundwave’s support system after the loss of his Cassette, and the other cassettes do trust star still

Skywarp misses Starscream and wants to get him out, but doesn’t know how to keep Star out of the fire fight. Warp wishes that Thundercracker would join her and hep Starscream out.

Armada

Only protective of Alexis

Cares much about the human girl, and wants for her best

Will rescue the other kids, and tries to hide that he cares about them and the other Autobots

Only joins back with the cons so that way they won’t be hurt by Megatron

Starscream acts on instinct, protecting those who need help

With his memory loss, he knows that he’s missing someone and doesn’t know who it is

What does look like everyday life apart from war and fighting in Decepticon HQ? Autobots seem for me more like family/group of close friends and among Decepticons there is Soundwave with their companions but what about the rest? And how Megatron treats his soldiers (generally, not only the main cast)?

Megs actually treats his (loyal) soldiers pretty decently. He's an okay boss to work for like, 75% of the time, he's a HARD taskmaster, but a fair one who compensates you properly---you're talking to an ex-manual who used to be part of a union after all. Note that almost ALL the Decepticons' armor is actually made BY him with his own two hands (he became a good metalsmith during his time in the pit having to craft his own armor and helping his partners with theirs), and he sits down and talks with them to get to know them better/figure out what they want. (The exception is Starscream, who was one of the earliest members of the rebellion and whose armor was a prototype designed by Senator Shockwave)

So he's not an asshole boss PROVIDED you stay loyal to his cause. He can flip a switch from warm and understanding to cold and remorseless, though note that even with his warmth, there's a strong presence of danger lurking underneath, like a lion choosing to sidle up to and affectionately headbonk you, and you knowing full well it could rip off you head if it wanted to on one wrong move.

His soldiers' loyalty and dedication to him are not without merit as such. Their fervour can blind them to other atrocities he commits.

Generally the Decepticons feel more emotionally detached and 'professional' compared with the Autobots, because they are, by design, a military force (The Autobots function more as a very hands-on NGO), and there's always a businesslike air among them/a bit of a cutthroat environment in that aspect. Because Meg can flip on a switch and they know what happens to traitors, friendships tend to be more surface-level compared with the Autobots (except for Soundwave and Co who are a little bonded family unit of their own) since you don't know who's going to defect and who might be mysteriously gone tomorrow, and you're left questioning if you ever knew your team mates at all.

Most of the time they mainly see each other during meetings and training sessions, and don't really engage with each other beyond that.

what are your current relationships for characters? (including or not including past relationships)

Let me summarize the relationships, I won't be explaining then FULLY since it'll be too long and complex. I'll start with Megatron!

Megatron - starscream: toxic exes, literally "wrong person, right time" hates each other but at the same time sympathizes for each other. Pure hatred and resentment

Megatron - Optimus: bitter exes who still aren't quite over each other just yet

Megatron - ratchet: never really got along, just enemies in general

Megatron - elita-1: really hates each other, megatrons happy that she's 'dead'

Megatron - Jetfire: Only knew each other during war, killed jetfire

Megatron - Thundercracker: Fond but not too fond, finds her useful and competent. She dislikes him for what he did to sts

Megatron - Skywarp: Only finds her teleportation ability useful, otherwise doesn't like her, and finds her annoying. She only uses hm as a source of income, doesn't care if he dies or anything

Megatron - Bumblebee: He dislikes the scout, and vice versa

Megatron - Ultra Magnus: Used to be acquaintances, no longer sees each other that much even on the battlefield

Megatron - Rodimus: Finds Rodi interesting, annoying, and laughable at the same time(in a negative way). Rodi dislikes him because he thinks Optimus is like that because of him, views him as a villain and nothing else

Megatron - windblade: finds her annoying, too assertive. She finds him annoying and will scold or bicker with him any time there's a temporary truce

Megatron - chromia: doesn't know who she is, sees her on the battlefield only. She knows him but never interacts(well, every autobot knows him)

Megatron - smokescreen: Rodimus 2.0 but more childish. Smoke also dislikes megs

Megatron - shockwave: dislikes his lack of emotions, but finds him useful nonetheless. Shockwave is loyal, but questions his choices sometimes

Megatron - soundwave: close, only one he trusts. Vents to him because soundwave prefers to listen rather than talk, close friends in general. Soundwave finds him bratty but still stays loyal and a close friend.

Megatron - lugnut: finds his loyalty and preaching annoying. Lugnut literally looks at him like he's primus.

Megatron - strika: he sees her as valuable asset. She has no opinions on him, still loyal though

Megatron - other seekers: useful and useless at the same time, they're expendable. They see him only as their leader, otherwise they aren't too fond of him in general

Megatron - cyclonus: Bickers with each other. No longer sees cyclonus since tailgate died.

Megatron - tailgate: who? Oh, that minibot STS killed? Ok.

Megatron - wheeljack: doesn't see him in battle often, knows he makes bombs. WJ likes to bomb him.

Megatron - Prowl: avoids each other at all costs

Megatron - Jazz: finds each other annoying

Megatron - cliffjumper: isn't that the guy I killed?

Megatron - blurr: hates each other in general

Megatron - arcee: "who?" Arcee only sees him in battle, finds him intimidating

Tell me if I missed anyone important! I'm trying to remember every character I know from the top of my head so I might have not mentioned the TF chars you were looking for🥲

Optimus and Soundwave once get thrown into the Space Bridge and were on an unknown planet for a while as they were treated kindly by the natives who reside there. Soundwave was kind to the children and Optimus can’t help but smile as the usually cold and silent decepticon communication officer let his walls down and bond with the parents. The cassettes were sweet to the kids.

When Optimus isn’t helping the locals with carpeting and rebuilding houses after he and Soundwave crashed landed, the cassettes and the children invite him to play and he happily entertain them. Soundwave smiles behind his mask, his feelings growing more as he sees how kind and attentive Optimus was. No wonder the autobots loved him and were fiercely loyal to him.

After a while, the two leaned onto each other and were very civilized. Slowly, it grew intimate and Optimus softly apologizes makes his leave. After the fifth time, before he could do such, Soundwave stopped him and caressed his face. Optimus vented softly and Soundwave leaned in and Optimus did as well, sharing a kiss.

They slept together that night and maintain a relationship of courting. The natives of the planet were pretty sure they were mates.

Before I answer, which Wave? I think you probably mean Soundwave but you could have also meant Shocky.

OK this is anon so you won’t know I asked.  I’ll just have to do both.

Starscream/Shockwave: maaaybe? could be fun! Mad science love affairs are always fun, and you know that each of them has at least one angle, usually more.  I would like to see this in a fic. I’m particularly fond of Shockwave discovers An Emotion fics so I am all for it.

Starscream/Soundwave: NOPE

This is almost NOTP for me, but it’s not as much of a NOTP as Cosmos/Soundwave is, so at least there’s that for ya?

First of all...Ravage/Soundwave is my OTP, except in Cyberverse where there’s no evidence Ravage ever existed. Now, Soundwave has two hands (and an immense number of cables even in G1 where you only see them a couple times). But I prefer that his other hand be attached to either Jazz or Megatron.

If they do it in Earthspark I will be very disappointed unless it’s a “Soundwave has two hands” situation involving both Ravage and Starscream.  I don’t know enough about ES Starscream to have an opinion on whether he is good enough for my space husband, but...Ravage/Soundwave is my absolute OTP, and in Earthspark, they have shown us all the cassettes giving up on Soundwave except Ravage. I know that it’s probably not going to happen because idiots will consider it bestiality despite the fact that she’s smarter than Bumblebee is, but that doesn’t mean that anything which replaces it will be easy for me to love.

In Cyberverse, Ravage doesn’t exist, but in Cyberverse, Starscream is the absolute worst, and Soundwave is as always the king mech of my heart. Plus, Soundwave and Hot Rod have hearts in their optics even at first when they’re still annoying each other, so in CV I ship Hot Rod/Soundwave, and yes, Soundwave has two hands, but CV Starscream is a Quint collaborator who tried to destroy their universe.  I like Starscream generally, but not this one.

In G1, I can’t see it.  Soundwave is deeply loyal to Megatron and Starscream keeps trying to murder him.

In Prime, people who write this are almost always Megatron haters and Autobot stans. And they make Soundwave helpless, which I hate. Megatron is pretty gross in TFP and he’s terrifying, but he respects Soundwave and they’re obviously very close. Every Starscream/Soundwave TFP fic I have ever read involves Megatron raping them both and usually getting one of them involuntarily pregnant, at which point they flee to Optimus and his amazing Autobot healing spike.  Gross. This makes me puke.

Megatron is an asshole when his brain is on dark energon, but he loves Soundwave at least as a friend, and since he was an ex-gladiator turned freedom fighter, I really don’t see Megatron raping anyone ever. Addictive, hard drugs make you do worse things than you’d ordinarily do, but usually they only make you do things completely outside your moral compass if you’re desperate to get them and someone else who has them is making you do that thing.

Ravage is canonically dead in TFP, but I like to think that Megs and Sounders both loved her and that this might even be part of what’s making Megs so whack, although he’s clearly not over his divorce from OP.

Anyhow, it’s possible that I could like this maybe if the people who wrote it weren’t always trying to make me pity them both and worship OP’s dick.

In IDW1, even Riptide, who is not on anyone’s top 10 IQ list, has managed to notice that Ravage was in a messy triad with Megatron and Soundwave and that Ravage is being forced to make a decision that Ravage does not want to make or acknowledge. The way Rav and Wave met in IDW is super romantic, and nothing shouts “broken triad” like telling your lover to go murder the other third of your triad when that person betrays you both and also you want to know which of you two she loves most.  Meanwhile, I don’t see enough interaction between Starscream and Ravage to have any basis for shipping them.

Earthspark theorycrafting time

Okay okay it's time for my favorite part of new TF content which is: wild extrapolation of what little we know into a house of theoretical cards which will no doubt be wiped out by the next episode to drop. Spoilers for the first 10 episodes of Earthspark abound after the cut, obviously.

So, without further ado: something is rotten in the town of Witwicky.

We don't know much about the war. Not why it was fought, or what exactly happened in it, or how it came to end—only that the spacebridge connecting Earth and Cybertron was destroyed, and according to Alex's simplified G1-esque retelling, Megatron just went "hey maybe Optimus has a point that we should stop fighting and preserve what's left of our race" and teamed up with the Autobots to end the war.

Just Megatron. Not a single other Decepticon. Not even ever-loyal Soundwave followed his lead. Even if we accept that the retelling is a highly sanitized and manicured version of what actually happened (like the thing about how Bumblebee totally disappeared forever), it's a very strange thing, isn't it?

We'll come back to this.

In any case, Cybertronians have been on Earth for thirty years. Megatron has been cooperating with Optimus for fifteen of them. The Decepticons are implied to have been in bad condition by the end of the war (Soundwave, malfunctioning in starvation, and a cassette exploding inside him. Rumble or Buzzsaw, presumably. RIP.), and rogue Decepticons are still scrambling to feed themselves in the present day.

In the very first scene of episode 1, Swindle and Hardtop are lured into an Autobot trap baited with a few (rectangles???) of energon. Sure, it's stealing, but they're not actually doing anything wrong here but trying to feed themselves. Still, it's made clear their choice is to fight and flee or surrender and go to prison forever. No third option.

Swindle escapes when the chase is interrupted by spiderbots, but Hardtop is captured. Optimus notes the spiders aren't of Cybertronian make and wonders if this has anything to do with rumors Decepticons are going missing (yes).

Later, Dot Malto comes across the convoy's wreckage. Elita-1 and Optimus arrive, only to inform Dot that the park ranger job she thought she had—the one she moved to Witwicky specifically for—was a lie and that she's actually working for the secret US military agency GHOST. As you might guess, Dot does not like this.

Interestingly, she says she doesn't work 'for the Autobots' anymore. It's not the military she has the most problem with, but them. This may or may not have to do with the much-later-referenced battle of the bay, in which the Autobots did a lot of architectural damage and she was badly injured. Either way, whatever trust was once there is broken.

Then of course Megs makes his entrance. Dot's resentment for Autobots doesn't extend to him—curious, given that in Alex's G1 story they were 'heroic Autobots' and 'evil decepticons', and Dot was a soldier there to see it all firsthand.

Megs and Dorothy are immediately and obviously old friends, and both of them on better terms with each other than with Optimus. Heck, they have names for each other no one else uses. Human buddy acquired!

Megatron: GHOST isn't a perfect ally, but Optimus believes they'll help our kind make a home on Earth. Dot: Optimus always sees the bright side. Even when there isn't one. Megatron: Don't be so hard on him, Dorothy. Clearly we've had disagreements, but when I joined the Autobots to end the war, I saw that Optimus always does what he believes is right. No matter the personal cost.

Note, not 'what's right'. 'What he believes is right', no matter the cost. Cut to Dot frowning down at the ominously-shaped GHOST logo on the overturned truck. Hmmmm.jpg.

Meanwhile, the abducted Hardtop is being stripped for parts by the evil Mandroid (okay, his name's actually Dr. Meridian. Did you remember that off the top of your head? No you didn't. Mandroid it is).

Mandroid commands the spiderbots (arachnamechs), hates Cybertronians in general and wants them off Earth, is the one who's been disappearing Decepticons, and has just welded Hardtop's arm onto his own shoulder. Hardtop, as you might guess, is not happy to be here and says when Swindle shows up they'll beat him up. This isn't gonna happen, but we'll come back to that later.

Meanwhile, after a spiderbot battle, the Autobots find out about the new kids but don't know exactly who or what they are. Optimus says he'll contact GHOST to take Twitch and Thrash to HQ for safety (he doesn't question why the truck turns up like three seconds later). Optimus promises to keep them very, very safe, and Dot tells Mo they can trust Optimus, even though we know in general that she doesn't.

Surprise, the truck driver is Mandroid and the robot kids have been abducted. Who saw that coming? Two scenes later, Optimus has to come over like 'oops GHOST has no record of that truck, they could be anywhere, my bad'.

Wow, could it be? Maybe blindly trusting Optimus Prime all the time isn't a great idea? 🤔

Meanwhile, Mandroid is interrogating Twitch and Thrash on their origins, and when that doesn't provide much intel, straps them in for dissection under a very large and many-pointy-limbed device (with a laser on it too, naturally).

The autobots show up to rescue them. When the spiderbots aren't enough to repel them, Mandroid summons some Decepticons to help fight the Autobots off: Skullcruncher, Shrapnel, Hardtop, and Bombshell. This is where we get our first clue about what's going on here, but only if you know the Transformers Lore™. Again, we'll come back to this later.

Elita-1 (fighting Hardtop): Your heart's not in this, is it? Elita-1: Brain, either.

Then Bee shows up to help, as it turns out he didn't disappear forever (surprise!). In the end, all the Decepticons are captured.

Hardtop: Honest, I don't know what came over me. I'd never fight you, Megatron! No matter what side you're on!

And then there's this odd little moment. Blink and you'll miss it, because it continues into a cut where Megatron helps Dot down from his shoulder. In response to Hardtop's words, Megatron shoves him, then... Looks at his cannon.

This segues into family time and Dot insisting Twitch and Thrash stay with them, which Optimus is glad to hear. Also he doesn't want GHOST to know Bumblebee is alive. Seems like he doesn't fully trust them either.

...And now that we're out of the ep 1-2 two parter I can skim over most of the rest of the episodes, as, for better or worse, Earthspark is in large part the 'kids and robots petting cows and family game night' show with larger events happening in the background somewhere.

A few significant moments:

-Optimus, Elita-1, and Megatron hang out all domestic-like in the secret GHOST base under Dot's ranger station, presumably. You know. The one with the Decepticon prison in it, where they're all kept until, as OP says, there's a better option available.

-Alex insinuates he used to know Dr. Meridian during the war, and presumably was another science team guy before he retired to teach.

-Swindle breaks into a GHOST convoy to steal an energon scanner that could give him a lead on finding Hardtop but can't get through the forcefield, so scams Mo and Thrash into helping him. When the kids' parents find out:

Dot: You're different from Swindle! Cons weren't born into that life, they chose it. And anyone who wears that badge? Can't be trusted.

Mo: They aren't all bad. Right, mom? You're friends with Megatron.

Dot: That's different. Megatron has truly changed.

Has he, now? But again, just him and no others. And depending what kind of Decepticon backstory we're dealing with in this continuity, saying all Decepticons are evil and chose to be so is a hmmm.jpg x3. What's our IDW1 (or even TF:P) proximity here?

-Some random GHOST trainee almost shoots a kid

-The kids fall into a pit trap and Optimus gets some extremely ominous framing

-Optimus Hides the kids from GHOST inside his trailer, inside the GHOST base. Because Optimus Prime makes bad decisions.

Dot: Cheesy footage of Autobots helping humans build a bridge. Not very subtle. And what exactly does GHOST do with the Decepticons you catch? Optimus: That's classified. I'm sorry. Dot: Bots and humans working together is wonderful, but why the secrecy? And the hard sell? You sure you're on the right team, OP?

-Megatron refuses to use his cannon against the cassettes for 'childish pranks'. Optimus calls them criminals. Bee shows up with restraining bolts to mode lock the cassettes and Megs is disgusted.

Megatron: I will never touch those... Things. Optimus: A means to an end, Megatron: safely transporting our quarry to GHOST. Megatron: Optimus, does it not concern you that our human allies control where Decepticons live, and what form they take? Even in times of so-called peace? This is not freedom.

It's enough to start an argument between OP and Megs about the way the Decepticons are being treated, in which Megatron says I gave you my fealty to save our people, which is a very interesting choice of words. Fealty, as of an oath of service and obedience to a liege lord. This is not an equal bargain.

Later, battling Soundwave, Soundwave repeats his own words to him. This is not freedom. He calls Megatron traitor—and Megatron, about to fire, stops and looks shocked: as if the idea that to the Decepticons he is a traitor is somehow a new thought.

Add another hmm.jpg to the pile.

Later on, Skywarp and Nova Storm show up intent on stealing Optimus' arm for Mandroid. Hardtop's wasn't good enough, apparently.

Optimus: They want my left arm like their lives depend on it!

And you know what? When the two of them fail in their mission and Mandroid says he'll dissect them, they don't even try to fight that small squishy human. Wow, weird. And when we find out the terran bots were created via an artifact left behind by Quintus Prime, his squiddy little logo certainly doesn't resemble an upside down spiderbot at all. :)

But now we come to the really interesting part. Dot and Megatron are captured by Mandroid and the following conversation ensues:

Mandroid: Let me begin again. Conversation is difficult, after my time in the war.

Dot: You served too?

Mandroid: My contribution was scientific. I was drafted by GHOST to toil in their robotics laboratory. After a year of laboring on projects I detested, Decepticons attacked San Francisco. Dot: Yeah, I remember. I led an infantry platoon at the battle of the bay. Mandroid: Then perhaps you remember the Autobots' friendly fire destroying buildings. My arachnamechs dragged me to safety, saving me the only way they knew how. I came away with... Souvenirs.

You know what I think?

I think it's real suspicious that Hardtop went from wanting to kill Mandroid to doing his bidding without seeming to even understand why. I think it's suspicious that all those other Decepticons did too—they might stick around for fuel, sure, but not to protest even under threat of dissection?

Why did Megatron turn his back on his loyal army in such a way that none of them followed? Why did they go to ground rather than attempt switching sides? When did it become clear that there would be no switching sides, only life imprisonment for those who surrendered?

But not for Megatron—who has sworn fealty, who 'has truly changed' who is tame and obedient. The sole exception.

Remember episodes one and two? Remember who one of Mandroid's tame Decepticon squad was? Bombshell. You know what Bombshell's whole thing is in the lore? Mind control. Do you know what other two motifs are strongly associated with mind control in the Transformers lore?

Spiders.

Needles.

I think maybe the emberstone wasn't the only thing Quintus Prime left behind. I think GHOST found whatever that bit of lost technology was during the war, and Mandroid reverse engineered it into the arachnamechs and the 'projects he detested'. You know who recognized who Quintus Prime was without even thinking about it? Alex, who once worked with him.

I think one day Megatron was captured, bolted to a table in a dark room, and came back different. I think Optimus was too happy about that change to ask too many questions, and GHOST would have done the same to the rest of the Decepticons if not for losing Dr. Meridian in the battle of the bay—and with him, all his research. Mandroid doesn't care about turning the Decepticons peaceful anymore, only using them as a means to the end of Cybertronian destruction.

Now all GHOST can do is capture Decepticons and lock them up until there's Optimus' 'better way': until they can reverse engineer Mandroid's work and shadowplay the rest of them into good little productive citizens... And hope their hold on Megatron doesn't break before then.

Never trust a mech with his needles in your neck. :)

Ship opinion for megasound?

I love that you suggested this one specifically now that we're doing this again

Megasound 10/10 baby I actually already mentioned why in the first round of this ask game some while ago but basically yes it's the oh so classic Main Villain plus Most loyal Henchman. It's the gayest thing in media. I adore when shows make it all meaningful and interesting and juicy. I honestly think this one would work in any continuity but my opinion bases mostly on Prime/aligned since it's what I have most experience with. These two are so devoted to each other they're best friends they're right hand men and they just get each other. Soundwave is such a fun contrast to Starscream w being the dead most loyal decepticon of all time while this one bitch doesn't breathe without thinking of Meggies downfall. It's so good. I can also imagine them as extremely queerplatonic bc they do really just, work so well together I just love seeing them as a pair in any capacity it just. Works. I know this isn't very intelligent commentary lol sorry. But I hc Soundwave as recipromantic/greyromantic or other similar and I feel like for him if there was anyone, it would be Megatron for him. It's like that thing of, being some orientation but meeting a person who just happens to be an exception to it, I find that a very interesting relationship style to explore and I'm feeling it w these two. Only topically related Megop is also 10/10, for different reasons but neither ship detracts rating points for the other imo. I like to think of them as coexisting either by way of Megs being poly attracted to both but only Soundie reciprocates, or that Megop was in the past and Megs is all angsty and torn up about it but is now also loving Soundie so he sits there like "ugh,,, my ex,,, is my nemesis,,, so tragic,,, what happened between us" and Soundie gives him hug and kith and goes "So true babe" and neither of them doubt that they truly care for each other deeply and just accept that Megs still had a thing with op before but it's over now and he's sad but it's gonna be okay. Good stuff

Originally it was going to be explained that Soundwave was trying to win the new leader position so that he could go back and get Megatron (was outnumbered when Starscream ditched Meg and the seekers) but the movie creators had to cut the scene for time along with some scenes of the 'Cons fighting each other for the position, explaining how Star won, and some other stuff.

Overall though, yes, I actually do. I like IDW Megatron in MTMTE and Lost Light a lot and loved what he added to the story after just a bit of time getting used to him. And TFP Megatron is just funny to me with how Extra and Ridiculous he is half the time. He manages to be both scary and hilarious in tandem and I like that about him.

5 good qualities: Megatron's good qualities, huh? Alright, let's see.

IDW: patient, considerate, loyal, brave, and willing to do anything to make up for his past actions.

TFP: determined, curious, funny (though he doesn't mean to be), clever, and strong as anything (this man's a BEAST).

3 bad qualities: selfish, cruel, and prideful work for both but definitely for TFP Megs.

favourite episode/etc: I like the Sick Mind episode but the finale of season 1 where he has to work with the bots and sees their base is just fun.

otp: IDW MiniMegs/MagsMegs is very good. In TFP I sometimes like Megatron and Soundwave but mostly in the past. Soundwave deserves better so I would not wish that upon him.

brotp: I like Orion and Megatronus's friendship but it is gone now and unless Megatron does a lot of changing it needs to stay that way.

In IDW, him and Rodimus.

ot3: Don't have one.

notp: Megatron and Starscream.

Also "So this is where the magic happens. Quaint." when he sees the autobot base. He definitely has better quotes than these but these are two of my favorites.

head canon: TFP Megatron used to truly enjoy hanging out with Soundwave and his minicons sometimes. Not for any particular reason, just hanging out and enjoying each others' company. That hasn't happened in a very long time though for a variety of reasons. In quiet moments, every now and again, both Soundwave and Megatron miss that and wonder why.

IDW Megatron is a surprisingly good singer he just never sings. It's very low and soft and raspy which gives people chills when he hits the more emotional parts of a song. In the other universe when he is able to spend more time at Swerve's he might finally be convinced to use those pipes for a song or two and the crew is in awe.

Huh I guess someone finally dropped the bomb on you. Who would you kill if it were in the Prime, Armada, or the original G1? And if you were a cybertronian and you would get the credit and live with the consequences would you kill either one of them?

Was this a premeditated strike??

As the loving and benevolent god of Prime, Armada and G1, I would smite my selected leader as follows:

Prime: Megatron (I adore the character but that one’s a no-brainer. The next ruler of Cybertron won’t be the type to spam DMs.)

Armada: Ohhhh, so much harder. These two are the Megs and Prime I grew up on.

It would legitimately hurt, but probably Prime. Armada ends with Megatron sacrificing himself for the greater good (because he’s the best) and Prime subsequently exiles himself and lets Transformers Energon happen. So I’ve already seen the other door and I want to avoid that door at all costs.

G1: We also get a peek at what might happen if one of them dies here (I don’t need to tell you which one). So based on that... Megatron is the better military leader, Optimus is better at making cities and alliances. I kind of think they complete each other in a weird sense if they were able to combine forces. But if we have to sacrifice one, it would probably be the goal-oriented military side.

It will take eons before any actual progress would be made and the average citizen would have to pray on bended knee that their leader won’t come across a family of starving bunnies who need tax money more than they do. But there’s a chance at a pretty good planet in there.

If I were not an all powerful god and instead a cybertronian vulnerable to assassination and mobs, I would choose Megatron about half the time. Never Optimus because I’m either gonna get revenge killed by troops who loved him like a father or Megatron and co for stealing his ultimate power move- or both. Even if I was guaranteed survival, every bot down to the mercenaries would be after me and that’s just no way to live.

But if I offed the more unhinged Megatrons, I have a pretty good shot at inheriting his troops, resources, and status.

Sure, Starscream would be my undying rival and I could never trust Soundwave, but those are just side obstacles. The majority of the workforce is pretty good at keeping their eyes on the prize and not letting any inner-circle drama interfere with that. After Armada, a lot of loyal Decepticons got absorbed into the Autobots, for instance. They’re good just following where the wind takes them.

Demolisher might have even refused to betray the Autobots in Energon if the writing weren’t so bad and he hadn’t been treated like a second-class citizen. That would never happen if the roles were reversed and the Autobots were absorbed into the Decepticons, they’re a little less comfortable with abrupt regime changes.

Transformers Cyberverse season 3  Eps 1-20 plot breakdown (MAJOR SPOILERS!!!)

So I have just managed to watch eps 1-20 of season three of cyberverse.  They are airing in rapid fire in the UK and getting uploaded to a few places on line.  Anyway, here is a rundown of the storyline and plot of the season so far.  

Major spoilers ahead so turn back now if you don’t want to it ruined

 So, first off the season has multiple arks and does periodic time skips to get from one to the next. It is also my opinion that this is by far the best season of the series and when you watch it you will understand.

The four part opening arc has the return of the autobots to cybertron.  The first ep mostly follows chromia and perceptor, who becomes blind, escaping prison but mostly sets up the following events. The ark returns but is destroyed by the cons, but the autobots called it and escaped.  Here we come to meat of it, a full on clash between autobots and decepticons.  

I feel whole heartedly that the “battle of cybertron” may be the biggest and most hardcore and intense on-screen battle in transformers history. It even puts the battle of autoboot city to shame in my book. It wasn't just teams or forces clashing but 2 whole armies going at it full force for three episodes. There was death, consequences, highlights for main characters but plenty of screen time for the generics. It was a real war like I don't think Hasbro has given us before. This was definitely a highlight of the series and has really elevated it in my view.

Anyway in the end, wheeljack destroys vector sigma to thwart megatron and the allspark is restored to the core. To spite optimus, megatron makes shockwave destroy the allspark.  Shockwave extracts his spark and enters the allspark and poisons it from within. Cheetor is forced to sarcrice himself to do the same and restore the all spark.  Weith that the autobots win the war.

In these eps we do have many new characters intros and a few deaths.  We are introduced to whirl, kup, skywarp(a female now), alphastrike(a renamed strika), dead end, repugnus(there are a bunch of him).i might be missing a few. For deaths we of course have shockwave and cheetor, but here is also prowl who takes a shot meant for optimus(it doesn’t seem serious in the moment but he never shows up again, so yeah).  We also have bludgeon, though not dead, finally getting justice for killing slipstream by being sent to Unspace.

We also have one other death of note; drift.  He reveals that rather than a con who became an autobot, he has been a loyal decepticon mole the whole time. He hunts down the scout team with the allspark and duels with hot rod before both sink to their deaths in some corrupted energon muck. Hot rod would later escape but no such luck for drift.  I actually hated this turn for him because it goes against everything the character has always been based on;  Just bad writing.

 So, by ep 4 we are thrown headlong into the new story line with no reveal how we have reached this point. The quintessons have invaded and conquered the planet, imprisoning all the transformers in a virtual reality of a constantly replaying parade.  So yeah, there are heavy, heavy, heavy allusions and straight lifts from the plot of the matrix movies.  It’s all a pretty fun ride though.  There is also a beast machines vibe as well.

The only free bots are perceptor, hot rod and clobber(who I love now), who hide and sneak into the simulation to try to rouse their comrades.  Their resistance is eventually joined by soundwave(who attempts to take command), dead end and whirl. They also meet up with maccadam, whose bar is strangely invisible to the quintesson scanners. We learn this is because the bar is part of the larger form of Iaconus, a berserker war titan in stasis below ground.  The team eventually meet the quintesson judge in charge, the quintesson scientist and free all the imprisoned bots.

We also learn that the quints are interdimensional beings that judge universes and destroy those they deem unworthy.  A full on rebellion forms to fight the quints and their forces.  A long, hard battle but it is won, though rather than see the fight through, megatron ditches to explore the multiverse. It is then that a worse threat is revealed; each universe has a new quintesson judge born from creatures of that universe.  The new judge is revealed to be a converted starscream, who told the quints about cybertron, along with two other aliens who form his other heads(one wants to probe everybody and the other wants to eat them). He surprisingly brings the transformers low before we get a titan battle between iaconus and a mind controlled croaton.

The day is eventually won by a returned megatron, looking worn and badass(double fusion cannon, missing eye) from his dimensional hijinks(and has his own matrix of leadership). The new judge is seemingly destroyed by he and optimus and maccadam dies during the titans battle(which he apparently foresaw and embraced). An uneasy peace is reached, half the planet to each faction and war if it is breached.  

The remaining few eps, which again isn’t the end of the series, just what has been released yet, is a mixed bag. There is an ongoing search for the scattered fragments of windblades mind, which was splintered by her freeing croaton from starscream. The autobots are trying to rebuild their side of the planet while the decepticons half is like a slum.  We also get hints that megatron is on the watch for something ominous he encountered in his travels.  We get two new characters; thunderhowl, a BW silverbolt type knight of old who swears himself to the autobots. There is also Wildwheel, a gunslinger who has an intense grudge against optimus and seems to look to join the cons.  He is cowboy themed because he was one of the autobots who fell from the ark as it crashed and awoke in the wild west and blames optimus for his being forgotten.

a special note is that in these eps, clobber has switched to the autoboots, which I just love because of how awesome her and hot rod were as partners in the whole quintesson arc. aside from the quintessons themselves that was my favorite aspect of that storyline. I also kinda ship them now, no regrets :) 

So yeah, that’s the basic story so far and its pretty damn fun and can’t wait to see where else it heads. 

for the rest of the season, based on the episode descriptions, there is more windblade searching, territory clashes between the factions and the ultimate threat of a being called The Other(probs who megs was looking out for and I hope to be unicron)

sometimes i worry i come across as like a bad starscream fan because I do like megatron a lot and do not headcanon star and meg's dynamic as fully one sided, but rather equal levels of a bad relationship on both ends. I see starscream as a selfish ambitious villainous force to be reckoned with and megatron as far more complicated than just a two dimensional asshole who lives to hurt star for funsies, and i feel a lot of die hard screamer fans call blasphemy on that opinion.

I know exactly what you mean!

There are some people out there, who will outright call you not a real fan if you dare to criticize anything about Starscream, even if you say, you love the character despite or because of his flaws.A saw people being bullied to censor their art when a fan-favorite got put in a less laudable situation.On the other side, we have fans who can’t wrap their head around the fact anybody liking Starscream at all. They usually like Optimus, Bee or Soundwave because these characters can’t really rub somebody the wrong way.Even I’m to blame for that. Before I bought the Starscream figure, I actually thought of getting a Soundwave instead. Soundwave is just a robot. No more questions need to be asked. But Starscream with his high-heels and feminine body? He is not just a figure. He is already a statement without any context, lol. Thankfully, I thought “Frag it! I stand by him” and bought him anyway. Wow, I’m still kinda ashamed for wanting to go “the easy way”… ó_ò

But back to Starscream and Megatron.

When I watched G1 it got pretty clear that trusting a Decepticon will get you nowhere. They will always betray you and especially Starscream. You could try to be nice to him, show him mercy and anything… no. He won’t be your friend.TFP Starscream is different, though. There is still a chance of betrayal, but he has some morals. Also he shows genuine loyalty and would probably continue to do so, if Megatron wouldn’t treat him like garbage. As far as I remember, Starscream is the only Decepticon who gets beaten for mistakes. Even right at the beginning of the show, when Starscream hasn’t messed up anything yet, Megatron asks him, if he wants to pay the ultimate price to become a guinea pig for dark energon. I can’t imagine Megatron saying something like that to Soundwave, even if it was meant as a joke.So, they continue to trigger each other. I can’t blame Starscream for trying to take control over the Decepticons and I can’t blame Megatron for beating him up, after that attempt. He is an evil warlord, he could have killed him and I wouldn’t blame him.At the latest in season 3 it gets pretty one-sided though. Megatron is just an ass and the writers started to hate Starscream for some inexplicable reason. It’s a mess. Both characters aren’t to blame for that, but it makes Megatron look like an abuser and Starscream like a victim. Especially when Starscream’s end is just disproportionally cruel and Megatron goes on galaxy tour or whatever. It’s just not fair.Megatron is usually on top and good guys consider teaming up with him in special situations, regardless what he did before.Starscream is usually at the bottom, but beware if he gets to top for once: Shoot him like the mad dog he is!!!I definitely have a problem with that.

True, they are both horrible people, but for this blog, I take what TFP gave me and that’s Starscream mistreated and abandoned after being loyal to Megatron. He is clearly in a position where you can feel and root for him, but I wonder what people will say, when his retaliation time comes. It will get ugly. Really, really ugly…And here I’m also just taking what the show gave me and it gave me Starscream saying, that he wants to be a tyrant. He knows what he does is wrong and evil and what not. And he does it anyway…
